Speaker 1 (00:00):
I need to tell you about five Star Bath Solutions
of Minneapolis. My wife and I needed a bathroom remodel
done badly. Our bathroom was disgusting. But here's the deal.
We didn't want to wait six weeks. We didn't all
want to stuff into our downstairs bathroom where we had
(00:22):
to pile up and pile in. We didn't want to
have to stop using an area of our house that
we literally use every day for six weeks. So then
we found five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis, and they
remodeled our full bathroom in forty eight hours.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
And it is updated, it is modern.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Take a look for yourself if you're watching on YouTube
our bathroom prior, ugly floors, nasty color, moldy shower, slippery tub,
one sink, disgusting looking vanity, and voila forty eight hours later,
(01:10):
new floor, new bathroom, new shower surround, a double sink,
and a new vanity. Sure it was an investment, but
when you put something into your kitchen or your bathroom,
you get that money back.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
And we got our bathroom back in forty eight hours.
Speaker 1 (01:31):

The Minnesota Timberwolves just annihilated the Los Angeles Lakers in
(02:20):
Game one, winning one hundred and seventeen to ninety five
in Game one. Nobody predicted the Timberwolves to win this series.
ESPN experts, ten of them were asked. All ten of
them predicted the Los Angeles Lakers to win this ballgame
(02:45):
and win the series. And they still might win this series,
but following Game one, this series is going to be
way more competitive than anybody from the national media thought.
And a lot of people wanted the Nuggets in the playoffs.
(03:11):
I personally wanted the Los Angeles Lakers, and you saw
why tonight. Sure they have Lebron James, Lebron James. Sure
they have Luka Doncic a qualified timberwolve's killer, especially in
the Western Conference Finals last year. But here's what the
(03:34):
Lakers don't have. The Lakers do not have perimeter defenders
that can stick with Anthony Edwards all night long. What
you saw was Anthony Edwards breaking down the Lakers defense
(03:54):
and finding Timberwolves shooters who happened to be red hot.
And also, unlike last year when the Timberwolves lost to
the Dallas Mavericks in five games, the Los Angeles Lakers
traded their best rim protector for Luka Doncic, So when
(04:21):
Edwards and Randall and McDaniels and Gobar and Devincenzo and
Nikhil Alexander Walker, when these guys got to the rim,
they were not faced with the best rim protectors in
(04:41):
the NBA. And yes, the Timberwolves shot an incredible twenty
one for forty two from the three point line, which
will not happen again in this series, very unlikely, and
that's a big reason why they won by twenty two points.
(05:02):
But you also need to factor in just how easily
Anthony Edwards was able to dissect the Lakers defense. Because
as elite as the Lakers are, offensively. Their defense is
weak and the only way they are going to win
(05:27):
an NBA title or NBA series is if the Lakers can.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Score a ton of points.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Four out of seven games in the series, which could happen,
but their defense is not talented enough, it is not
quick enough. I mean, look at their starting lineup. Luka
Doncic should literally be wearing one of those triangles that
go behind tractors because he is a slow moving vehicle.
(06:03):
He's very good, he's elite, He's a top ten.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Player in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Lebron James, arguably the best player ever to play the game,
only had nineteen points, didn't score a first quarter basket,
and is forty years old. So as good as Lebron
James was and still is, Lebron James is not thirty
(06:30):
years old, and yes he could still score forty points
any given night. But the Timberwolves don't have to fear
Lebron as much as you had to fear a thirty
year old Lebron.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
So for all of.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Those reasons, I was not afraid to face the Lakers.
I am afraid to face the Lakers in crunch time
if it becomes a game of who can close the
game the best. There's no doubt that the Lakers have
(07:04):
better closers. Luca is a better closer than Edwards. Lebron
James is a better closer than Edwards. So you factor
that in and it's advantaged Lakers. However, you look at
this game and if the Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Do not give up.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Double digit second chance points in the first quarter, where
the Lakers went off on the offensive glass and the
Timberwolves could not rebound a single thing, then the Timberwolves
win this game wire to wire. If the Timberwolves aren't
giving up easy second chance points opportunities in the first quarter,
(07:51):
this game is a blowout.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
From the opening quarter.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
The Timberwolves made shots, and when the Timberwolves made chance,
they made their defense come alive. And the Timberwolves, let's
face it, are not filled with elite three point shooters.
Noasried can knock down three's, Anthony Edwards can knock down threes,
(08:17):
but Jad McDaniels went three for three from the three
point line, Julius Randall went four for six from the
three point line, Mike Conley went two for three from
the three point line, even Anthony Edwards four for nine
from the three point line. The Timberwolves did not miss,
(08:40):
and you can expect a more competitive game in Game
two just because the Timberwolves are not going to shoot
fifty percent from the three point line. A couple of
things that I want to talk about and get off
my chest. Everyone wants to talk about Luca Dont's ankle
breaking move on Rudy Gobert in last year's Western Conference
(09:06):
Finals to knock down the buzzer beating three to knock
out the Timberwolves and to go up in the series,
But nobody wants to talk about Rudy Gobert's block on
Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Rudy Gobert didn't.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Have the most sensational game, wasn't the most impactful. Two
point six rebounds, one assist, one block, wasn't really everywhere,
But during this game there were moments where his presence
was felt. The first quarter, Gobert was invisible, but throughout
(09:43):
the game he got more confident and made defensive plays
on Lebron James. How many times did they show forty
year old Lebron James blocking the kiel Alexander Walker and
pinning it against the glass.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Great play by Lebron.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
How many times did they show Rudy Gobert seven foot
one of them defending Lebron James and blocking his shot
against the glass. That's what you call biased media representation.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Go bear.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Even when he makes a sensational play like a block
on Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Isn't being recognized.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
But as soon as Gobert puts up a horrific skyhook
jump shot offensively or gets his ankle broken by Luca Doncic,
that is viral. And that's what you heard and saw
from Chris Venchin Gobert.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Leading up to this game.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
All week they were asked about Gobert versus Luca because
that was a big topic of conversation, and.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Sure that play went viral.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
But the fact about the situation and about Rudy Gobert
is that he is a sensational defensive player. There is
a reason why he has won four Defensive Player of
the Year awards. The dude can play defense. Sure, his
(11:19):
offensive game is a kneemic. You give him the ball
and he really has nowhere to go with it. That's
why he's only a guy that can catch lobs and
dunk it. You can't give him the ball on the
block and expect him to make a play offensively when
you knock down that shot against Jogic Last year, he
(11:42):
won the lottery because that was probably the most unlikeliest
shot to ever go in in NBA history. However, his
impact has felt defensively, and that's what he's known for,
and in this game, he was quiet in the first
quarter when the Lakers got so many second chance points
(12:02):
opportunities and converted them.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
But throughout this.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Game he made plays, got rebounds, had an impact on
the game.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
The big.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Story in this game was Edwards's ability to bring two
defenders towards him and then find a nas red on
the wing at Jada McDaniels in the corner, and their
ability to knock down those shots. Edwards only finished with
(12:37):
twenty two points. However, this may have been the best
Anthony Edwards basketball game that I have ever seen. It
will not get recognized as so because he didn't put
up forty five or fifty points, but his ability in
this ballgame to control the temple, to control the pace,
(13:03):
to control really anything that the Timberwolves wanted offensively, Anthony
Edwards did and he was very intentional about what he did.
When he got the ball sure, he knocked down four threes,
but he was so good at getting to the corner,
bringing two or three defenders towards him, and the threes
(13:27):
the Timberwolves hit, although they will not shoot that again
in this series or in the playoffs, they were mostly
wide open shots. Nas Reed was not jacking threes over
defenders in his face. Neither was McDaniels or Julius Randall.
They were wide open and that's why they got hot tonight.
(13:50):
They got a rhythm and Anthony Edwards hit him right
in the chest and they knocked on the three. So
that's really the story of the game. One more note
to make about the Timberwolves win is the injuries by
Edwards and noz Reed.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Does anybody.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
More overreact to getting injured than nos Reed and Anthony Edwards.
Edwards didn't overreact too bad tonight. He just stood up
and walked off the floor and was dealing with his
cramps in the locker room. That wasn't over the top,
but Noz Reed acted like his eye got popped out,
(14:40):
couldn't stand up, rolling around on the floor, and then
it was back in a minute later and knocked on
a three. No offense to Naz Reid because I'm sure
an elbow from former Timberwolf great Jared Vanderbilt hurt. I'm
sure it hurt a lot, But two react the way
(15:01):
that he did and then to be back in the
game less than three minutes later. Could it really have
been that bad that you had to roll around in
the amount of pain that he rolled around in.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
But the Timberwolves now.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Have home court advantage and they have Game two on
Tuesday night in LA.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
And last year versus the.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Denver Nuggets, the Timberwolves one game one, end Game two,
went back to Target Center, lost game three, end game four,
went back to Denver, lost game five, one game six,
and one game seven. So even if the Timberwolves win
Game two, it doesn't mean the series is theirs. However,
(15:56):
there were things in Game one, like the Lakers' inability
to stop Edwards from completely controlling the game, that I
was very encouraged by. Edwards had nine assists in this ballgame,
(16:18):
which meant that he dictated how the Timberwolves offense operated
offensively without needing to score forty something points. But Jad
McDaniels twenty five points, nine rebounds a plus twenty seven
Edwards a plus twenty one, and I was like every
(16:39):
Timberwolves fan to start the fourth quarter. After Luka Doncic
hit the half court shot at the end of the
third quarter to cut it to sixteen, first offensive possession
for the Lakers, Luca hits another three, they cut it
down to thirteen.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Edwards still isn't back in the game? Oh crap.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
The Timberwolves have had a knack all season long of
letting teams back in the game that shouldn't be back
in the game. You look less than two weeks ago
and they were up twenty four against the Milwaukee Bucks
with ten minutes left when fighting for a playoff seed
(17:18):
was paramount during the final stretch of the timberwol season,
and they let that one get away all because the
Milwaukee Bucks went into a two to three zone defensively.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
And their performance was pathetic. So when the.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Lakers started going on a run late in that third
quarter early fourth quarter, every Timberwolves fan was scared and
worried and concerned. A thirteen point lead felt like a
one point game. But although Anthony Edwards going down with
(18:05):
a cramp and a calf injury at the end of
the third quarter was not what the Timberwolves wanted. In
some random way, it actually worked out in the timberwolves
favor because although that's when the Lakers made their run,
Edwards was able to rest back in the locker room,
(18:27):
get fluids, good a banana, and was able to play
the entire fourth quarter when he came back into the ballgame.
And when the Lakers went on that run, Edwards came
back in, knocked down a shot mid range game at
the elbow, and then dictated the game from that point on.
(18:50):
So I get that the Timberwlves are playing Luca, but
the Lakers had to trade their best defensive player.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
To get Luca.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
And the reason why the Dallas Mavericks had a big
advantage versus the Timberwolves last year was because well, they
had Luca, they had Kyrie, but then they had wings
and they had sinners that could make life difficult for
Anthony Edwards on the outside and at the rim, and
(19:24):
the Lakers don't have any of that. So I'm not
saying the Timberwolves are going to sweep the Lakers because
that's unlikely, and the Lakers do have guys that can score.
Austin Reeves can score, Luca can score, Lebron can score.
So there's going to be a Gamer two or three,
or four even where the Lakers put it all together
(19:46):
and put up one hundred and thirty points, because they're
that good. But the problem the Lakers are going to
have in this series is slowing down the Timberwolves offensively.
And that's why I wasn't afraid of the Lakers, because
everyone from the national media wants to crown the Lakers
and give them an NBA titled immediately because they have
(20:09):
Luca and Lebron and they're a big team in a
big market and they're good for the NBA. But defensively,
they don't have what it takes to go all the
way to the finals or to even maybe even beat
the Timberwolves. So look out for that as this series progresses,
(20:31):
because that's going to be the storyline is how much
can the Lakers slow down the Timberwolves offensively. The Lakers
didn't shoot the three point ball terribly. They were fifteen
for forty one, which is probably NBA average. Then the
Timberwolves shot it outrageously well. But the Timberwolves destroy the
(20:56):
Lakers one seventeen ninety five, and here we go Game
two in La on Tuesday night. Thank you for watching
