Speaker 1 (00:05):
Mm hmmm, mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Welcome back. All the smoke a day in La Man.
We got a good one here, jack Man someone I've
been following him and his brother for a long time.
We're from the same area. He's from two on nine.
I'm from sax so.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
I wish I had his chin Man.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Welcome to the show, Nate Diaz Man, Appreciate you, bro,
Thank you for coming through. Appreciate you coming through. So
big fight coming up. Masvidal thoughts on that's how's training
be going, and how does training for straight boxing different
from the rest of your training. You've been doing more.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Low impact, you know, because with boxing and I got
the one want sports to focus on, so I can
focus on it.
Speaker 5 (01:02):
But I have to be like ship them from freaking
this and that. So a lot less wearing there. How
many are you seem risks though you still get fucked up?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Oh yeah, you it's every day, seven days a week.
You give yourself a break. How's that?
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Sometimes seven days a week, but I always trained probably
about five, five or six days week.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
He told me he had to put a pulled back
and live because they changed the date on him.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
He was going hard. They had to didn't want to
burn out.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
Yeah, well we're gonna fight June first, but it's competing
with a lot of fights were happening in that day,
and uh, so we moved it to July sixth, and
uh we were already going for months, so we turned
off for a little bit and ready to pick back up.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
A lot of MMA guys have been crossing over and
doing boxing. Is that kind of a more of a
natural evolution as you can kind of get older. It's
not semi crafts. It's just one just go with the hands.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
What's a good thing about MMA is, uh, it's mm's
mix march lots of boxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, and
uh the whole everything.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
So all these.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Sports have different communities and different different leagues and stuff.
So you can go compete the others if you have
the skill too for good enough, and I think that's
a benefit from doing them, may we.
Speaker 5 (02:20):
I can't go to jiu.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Jitsu for money, or or boxing or kickboxing or other
pick different things. So I don't know anything.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Any boxers you looked up to growing up or fans
of today.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
Yeah, Mike Tyson, of course.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Yeah, So Mike Tyson, I like Oscar Delahoea for Nane
of Argus all all those guys. Uh uh, we'll call
my Orga and andre Ward like everybody.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
I was growing up around the same time as the
board though, fine too, but here.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
How do you I'm thirty nine, okay, I'm forty four
a little bit, and you old is your brother.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
He's he's forty forty wards probably.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
I think War is forty two. So yeah, you guys
around the area and the same.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
I can still take over if you want to.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yeah, in the facts, Uh, you fought Jake in the past, obviously,
Mike has a fight with Jake coming up. What are
your thoughts on that fight.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
I'm on Mike all the way, and Mike's the man
you already know, and uh uh.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Jake's young, explosive and got nothing to lose in every fight,
So I think that's what he's got going for him.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
One of everything's in the switch one. It's to me
like he's supposed to be the guy who wins.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Pressure them.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
They're like a little differently, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
How do you enjoy that fight with him?
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Though?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Just like that, I felt like that I'm training for
that fight a little bit and I lost interest, the
whole whole cav and uh uh, but that's what I'm
about doing, is that's the biggest ship.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
You started training jiu jitsu when you were sixteen. Explain
jiu jitsu for somebody who don't know anything about fighting
at all, like me, what.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
Jiu jitsu is.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Most of the time, when a street fight happens, where
a boxing match happens, somebody expected, like most people in
there will think.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
That someone's going to come hang you right in the face.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
So they're gonna come in and they're going to think
about that they're going to attack that. But most of
the time the fight in the bunder ground anyway, And
uh if if you know you're doing on the ground,
muster musta everybody's fucked.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Nothing about that ground and found.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Yeah, I'm gonna tap out, So that's important.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I'm gonna start begging, like like if somebody just I'm
finished scraped and he just falled and start breaking my leg,
I'm finished gonna I'm gonnaell him to stop.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
I ask him to stop.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Please.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
What I'm ia do?
Speaker 5 (04:39):
I can't get out of that.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I was not taught to get out of that.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
I got the pistol, you got long gass legs.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
I got the pistols going down. But if I ain't
got no pistol, I ain't trying.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
To get my leg broke out at six. It's around scrapping,
scrapping in them Jordan's.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
I mean, I do anything, but breaking my leg is
not a part of I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Nothing about that. I don't I don't want to deal
with that one. When did when was your first fight?
My first profile? I was nineteen years old?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
What about just fight period in the real world.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Probably like eleven or twelve, young, young, but before I
was fighting, even when I.
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Was younger than that, my brother and everybody around.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
Me, all him and his friends, they're a little older,
and they would find everybody. So I already see him fighting.
So when I got in a fight, it was kind
of just like, yeah, well I'm up.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Was it a time that you kind of like fell
in love with it? Like how were when you like
fell in love and like kind of figured out.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I'm training And you know when I started training before
that kept fighting with scary as fuck. I would always
find myself in the fight, and I started chowing my brother.
And what happened was when I was young, young, I
was in school, and my brother kind of was known
around town before the MMA game and everything. He's only
a year and a half older than me, so he
(05:51):
was known around town for getting in fights with people
like all over him and his boys, and so he
was out of school when I got in here, already
dropped out. And uh, when I got into school about
freshman year, it was I got into the fight with
a kid in class and we're like after school at
the park, motherfucker.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
And he's like, he's like all right. So when I.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Left class, the whole schools talking about fighting about about
me fighting at the park. So people are coming up
to me like what's up. You're gonna suck them up
at school like what gets me? And I'm like, now,
it's like tripping this third period, fourth period, fifth.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
So I got to go through the whole day, never
went out in the wood. Time was on crack today.
So I was like fight and everyone every class, everyone
knew about it.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
So by the time school ended, we walked to the
park and I'm walking in the park and there's there's
fucking uh, there's one hundred and two hundred people at
the park.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
So I'm already headlining.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Parks in high school, never their belding because of you know,
I fought a couple of times in middle school and
elementary school, but in high school.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
This is a big state.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
I was like, what, And then when I got to
the parking, I have to mention my brother and homides
heard from back home. So when we got to the park,
my brother and all those homeboys that I grew up
with all at the parties, I'm like, oh, fuck.
Speaker 5 (07:11):
These guys are here.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Dude, you gotta put on.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
So I had to stand up and fight this dude. First,
I felt like twenty minutes, probably fucking three to five minutes, right,
and uh and uh. Anyways, we go home and nothing
big happened. We squabbed each other, Nobody wont nobody lost.
We squabbed each other and U.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
And then.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
When I get home, they're like cops called, the principal
called you're suspended, this and the other, and I'm like,
all right, fucking my brother's like, my brother is already training.
He ain't fight yet, but he's training, and he's like
he was at the fight, and so he's like, what's up,
you're coming, you want to come train with me? I'm
better go right now. And I was like, I was like, nah,
(07:52):
I'm good. I'm just gonna chill. And he's like, you
better get your ass to the gym with that week
as performance at the parking. Do some gee pants and
gee pants to like jiu jitsu pans. You're gonna do
what they get your ship in the car like all
the best.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Fucking I got in the car. I went to train
with him.
Speaker 4 (08:09):
So I started training with him every day after that,
and uh, and then uh, somebody signed stuff for jiu
jitsu competition, which was five months down. Rob me and
my boy Rudy, We've got my best hell man, we
both trained every day. It's been like a month or two.
And and then when we sign him for this this tournament,
(08:30):
we started training every day and uh we got we
got close, like three months out. I remember four months
out and uh, people were telling me like, you know,
some fools, some people we had beef with one at
this party. Who I'm like, I'm cool because I wasn't drinking.
Now kid are doing ship. So I was just training
for this match that coming and he's like he's always
(08:52):
pull up there right now, let's pull up on. I'm
cool off that I got ship. I got ship I'm
training for. I ain't going out there right now. So
I started training and I was like, well, I was like,
I have bigger I have competition.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
I'm training for.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
You know what I'm saying, I want to win these
matches and ship that ship's petty, and like, I felt
like I got bigger than that. Find out such stuff
right off of that from jiu jitsu for martial arts,
and uh, anyways, that's what happened. I started competing in
the jiu jitsu. As the jiu jitsu class, I was
trying with my brother because he was fighting to put
(09:27):
the gloves on me and be like, let's squad, I
need you and you me and my boy, I need
you guys to try to fuck me up with the
gloves because I got a fight coming up.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
And we're the only one of age.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Everybody else after jiu jitsu practice goes home because they
got jobbs and they're older, and so my brother's like, uh,
put these gloves on in your mouthpiece and let's let's
let's fight.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
So me and my me and my homie and a
couple other younger guys.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Every day and then all of a sudden, I was fighting,
and I was like the competition kept me busy and
not worry about anything else that I had going on beforehand.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
And then did you drop out of school?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Where you stayed in school and kept training about the
same time I went to. I stayed in school for
for probably about six months in and out, and then
it was adventure, Like I'm just training.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
Fucking that was my new school. I learned a lot there.
Speaker 1 (10:22):
So that was around the same time you and your
brother was writting fight videos from Blockbusters.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
That was about the same time, because about was about
fourteen fifteen. Well always had that's about ninety ninety nine.
He had the same ship and he was wrinting uc
and we'll be at home. He bought mats in the room,
the room, and he had a way bench and and
he had fucking speedback on the wall.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Wake up the old house.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
And fucking uh work in and there watching you see one,
you see two.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Uh ju, And it was like that's all it was.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
And then with anything outside because outside was stressful anyway,
and fucking squad and fights everywhere and homies were find everywhere,
and like, let's go with us.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
I'm like started training.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
It was like no, come with us, all, yeall, and
come with us, so waiting with what we're gonna doing.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
So when when when did you realize that fighting has
become a job ship?
Speaker 4 (11:23):
A couple of years ago, the five late later than
I was mad for a long time when I started
being like, hold up, everyone knows me. Everywhere I go.
It's popping everywhere. I'm at mother fucking big time. I
ask people will fuck with me, and I'm gonna hold
(11:45):
up ONEm only getting paid petty, petty, And so I
started speaking up and spending on it and then make
sure happen for myself and then uh, black sheep and
the whole ship. So it's all good, though. Somebody had
to stand up the word better for me because standing
out more than than everybody else is sitting there doing
(12:07):
what they told.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
And then you start getting what you were Yeah, yeah,
did you have any fights that that humbled you early on?
Speaker 4 (12:20):
I got training partners that fucked me up when I
was young by you know, I was humbled when I
got and when I got out. Yeah, I had training
partners out Dave Treill, Jake Shill's, Nick Dias, my brother.
These guys were fucking I can fucking do my thing
with everybody I deal with them, and it was like, yeah,
they fuck what we're doing next?
Speaker 2 (12:41):
How long did it take you to get on that
level though, because obviously they had a little bit of
a head star, But how long did it take you
until you knew I'm just as good as these guys.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
It kind of turned to like, like those guys, you
know what I'm saying. They had their guys with.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Them too, and then I was the next guy, my
brother's guys. So it's like we kind of all got
on the same page together. After year year and a half,
two years, and then they started they started having to
fight training my gym. My coaches gym ses are Grazzie
and he he pulled Dave Triell. Jake showed nickseys Well
the leaders of all the black belts of the of
(13:14):
the team, and Uh, they had their guys. I was
the next guy, Jake out of this guy, which was
Gilbert Melndez, and then Uh Caesar had his couple of
guys at the gym, and then uh and Trell had
had some guys, so and we'd all meet up there
in the squab day, you know, and then and then
we bring our team and they bring their teams and
we're all one huge team, you know what I'm saying, team?
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Yeah, and then all the humbling happened in there, and
then those team leaders when if there's the humbling happened
in there, and then the fights becoming yeah, and then
the fights are like what do you?
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Who are you with?
Speaker 5 (13:49):
I know I'm with.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Right eighteen years eighteen years old?
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Well I've been mean, I see, yeah, Vegan throm mer eggs.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
I don't think so, yeah, Mom, probably about eighty percent Vegan.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah, I mean, speak to your big brother. I mean,
I'm a big brother. I never had a big brother.
Actually I just found out recently that I do have
a big brother. But that's a whole other story. But speak,
you know, speak, yeah, speak on your big brother and
how much he means to you and how and how
is he?
Speaker 5 (14:27):
Yeah, he's he's Nick. My brother. Nick is a wild
wild animal?
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Is he?
Speaker 2 (14:33):
So he's the more wild one out to you? Or
should I ask the hommies that?
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (14:37):
I don't, but he's he's for first and foremost, he's
the man though, and uh he led the way and
uh we had a different relationship than most brothers have
because all this ship that started with that at that
park when he had to see me find come with me.
Right then We're always grew up together basically raising each
(14:59):
other when my sister and chip and uh.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
And then when we get a little older, and then
this happens.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
We had kind of when the fight happened, I was
just talking about we had kind of not not been
fucking with each other for a little bit because he was.
Speaker 5 (15:15):
A little older and I was in school and so
we had different friends.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
And and when he brought me, when he brought me
to train with him, might never stop from that day
and uh and fucking uh and then he become because
he's better than me in the hole at the jiu
jitsu fight I'd go for I'd go take it. He'd
(15:41):
be like, try to fund me up, take my head off,
you know what I'm saying. So and it would never work.
So then uh, and jutsu the belt system the white belt,
blue belt, purple belt, brown belt, black belt, so there's
the levels, you know what I'm saying. And uh and
then uh, he was a blue belt in the purple button.
I had just tried the white belt, so uh.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Here you go, bro me wh I'll drink with him.
I don't want to drink by myself. Well should everybody drink? Well,
goddamn it, I guess.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
My bad.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I ain't mean interrupt.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Get you all up.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
We need bears, bears anyway something. Uh he became.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
My uh, one of your fucking mentor your coach, my
fucking guy.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
I don't even say coach because coach is different than
it's not. I feel like it's not a sport whole
another situation.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
And uh that was I'm his guy, you know what
I'm saying. So we have a different relationship than people
like like brothers just have you know, I feel like
he's just a fucking fucking cast the motto.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
You know, that's that's how my big brother passed.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
But I feel the same, like I learned a lot
from my little brother, I mean, my older brother. He
taught me a lot and it made me a man
at a young age.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
So I know how you feel about you before.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
Tom show me the game, whether he was trying to
or not.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Not good bad. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
So he's fighting again the summer, right, he's been away
from the cage for about two or three years now.
He's fighting this summer.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
Find the summer.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, we're in Vegas.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
I think he find Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
So cannabis. Jack and I have been big advocates for
cannabis through ship. I started smoking.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Take a shout to that.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
One of those Yeah yeah, I'm going come on my guy.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Yeah, and I smoke some cannabis.
Speaker 7 (17:37):
The joint coming to you soon. I got your fresh
in the game next door near you, bro, get up
and I think there should be there. You got some
fire to the that we moved here.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
You got something.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Already, but I don't think it is no, this is
just dizzy.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
I'll give on with you.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
Jack.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Yeah, where my cup cheers?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Where you got mid game halftime?
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Mm hmm, I think.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
And fresh?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
So cannabis, Uh something Jack and I've been doing for
a long time. It finally is legal in basketball, football,
and baseball. When did cannabis come into your life?
Speaker 4 (18:54):
I remember being like, as young as I can remember,
my brother was smoking weed with the neighbors. And uh,
he's always be in trouble, wearing like young, like he's
seven or eight years old, nine.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Years old and smoking it.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
He's getting not a level.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
This dude with next door at the TA Park and
he was just like coming home with smelling weed. My
mom's like yelling at him and ship. So he was
always saw that weeds bad when I was very little,
and then went at about thirteen, me and my best
homie when we started smoking a bunch of weed Togo
Albert bar.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (19:27):
We said, smunk, big guy.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
My guy.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
And then when at about fourteen fifteen, I started really
smoking a lot of weed and not like Nick, now
that guy would get smoking trained.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
So is there any time anytime you stop? I mean
you've got a little bit of trouble with leagues and
testing have you when you're training for a fight, gear
not for a fight? Is it normal? Lets go, you
do what you gotta do.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
No, I've smoked with the whole time. I've trained all
the way up and I've cut out that out weed
smoking to pass tests like usually like I tried to
you know, ten days come, can't wait? And what people
tell me? And uh yeah, and then not like that
and all stop. Ten days was usually Dune of seven
(20:17):
and four before. But then I always seem to pass
the test. That's why when I fight all these motherfuckers,
I'm like, you're all.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
On stairs right, what the is we gonna do? So
you never.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Fears because I don't. I don't funk with steroids or
believe in any of that ship. But I'm like, I'm
cool if you do steroids because I'll.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Fight you anyway.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
And like you know, I'm just let me I.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
Smoke weed and you do stoards. Don't funk with me? Yeah,
to be perfect. And I've said that, I said, I've
said that. You know what I'm saying. I don't care.
Speaker 4 (20:46):
I figured they're all but I I passed all these
tests smoking weed, So what's.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Up with their test? Right? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
So you didn't have to test, So we used to
have to take like these little drinks from g n
C and do like a whole process to cleanse ourselves.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
By they'll funk with you if they want to, Like
they with Nick and suspending him, and he got all
kinds of trouble because he was getting too big for
the liking.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
And what I'm saying, he's in trouble.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
And the same thing happened with me, but it was
already kind of the story. So I don't think like
they could go fuck with me too.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
And I'm like, okay, both of them, Yeah, busted.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
I stopped. I had no problem.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Stop smoking weed. I could stop smoking weed whenever, but
I like to smoke weed. I wan sad Eye the
costume I actually met I Bro. I got so many
find for hell.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Ship it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
I'm like another feeling.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
I might I got the record for finding a hun.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
And I'm like brow about I make more money smoking
weed than your finds are taking.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
So keep the finds coming up.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
I need it. I might be But now I was legal.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
M Is it legal? Is it legal in the uf C?
Speaker 5 (22:03):
Now I believe it's zach it is is legal?
Speaker 3 (22:08):

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Yeah, because right basically, yeah, hey fire fire up to that, I.
Speaker 6 (22:19):

Speaker 2 (22:38):
For what Really, I'm up there to well job, I'm
not even close? Whatst record for most baby mamas? Then
Larry Bird got a gang?
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Was it?
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Larry Bird had a bunch of kids.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
I'm glad he shout out to kids.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Shut out the kids.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Everywhere.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
At what age did you make it to the UFC?
Speaker 5 (23:00):
I didn't win twenty one?
Speaker 2 (23:04):
What was that experience? Like, I mean that's the biggest stage,
that's like, that's making it to the NBA.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yes, it was horrible.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Really Ultimate Fighter and so check it right. They tried
to put Nick on the Ultimate Fighter. He already was
in the UFC. He's already in the u C for
a fucking he knockt Wabbi Waller and he did. He
did a bunch of fights, had a few losses, and
then they called him there like, hey, we want to
put Nick on the Ultimate Fighter.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
The first Ultimate as the as like the Coach, the
not the.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
First one, fourth one with a comeback season for fighters
who were in the r C and then uh had
losses and they like left and made a story to
come back, like we want to do We're gonna get
these guys another chance.
Speaker 5 (23:50):
But Nick didn't never leave the UFC. They just wanted
him on the show because he was the fucking entertaining
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Said.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
They're like, and next thing, I ain't going on that ship.
Already been in your see, already did this. And I'm
like I'm a kid listening.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
I'm like, yeah, you know what I'm saying. I don't
know what's And he's like, I ain't going to your
scene that ship. Fucking that's that's stupid and uh. So
the show came on.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Nick fought again into the r C and kept fighting
the U see and the show came on and uh
and it was stupid man. Nick was sitting there watching
it again, well, this is so stupid and uh and
then later the we bagged on it anyways, and Nicolas
(24:35):
like I'm calling and left and did bigger shouldn't did
better ship And then it was up to season five
and they called me like, yo, we saw your fight,
we know your brother, and we want you to know
Ultimate Fighter. And my manager is telling me who's my
coach and him and Nick was out of it, but
he's like he got going Ultimate Fighter because they'll be tired.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
We're gonna do this. And I'm like, I ain't going
to Ultimate Fighter. That's stupid, just that Nick was. But
I wasn't in the l C yet and I'm like,
I'm cool off that we just rusted up. Yeah, he's
like he's like, no, I had to be good and
he's my coach and I'm like, all right, cool, he's older,
his nerved. I like, you're tripping. And I went to Nick.
They want we going on to My Fighter. They were
(25:17):
obviously already talking about it. I was like, I'm cool
off that, and he's like, he was like, I think
you should.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Go what the fuck?
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Like betrayed. I think he's like, man, what he said
he said? He said, I'm I'm like, he splain what
he's saying.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Established.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
I'm already said I'm established, you ain't that, So now
I was just saying, I'm like all right, And I
told her.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
I told my coach. I was like, I was like, uh,
I'm just gonna I'm gonna leave. If I go there,
all right, cool, go there and leave.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Go there and leave if you want, like I'm back,
I'm out. Then if I go, like all right, just
go like one didn't. He went down, the show started,
did the transession, fucked up everyone on the show, and
I'm twenty one, I'm the youngest, gonna shoy fuck them
all up, and I'm like Dann And then so after
you trained and funk every.
Speaker 5 (26:11):
Day, but it's funnier and easier. Yeah, And they're like,
I'm like, I'll go for a couple.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Of days the training and then we went. We went
training on our teams and the teams. As soon as
we got the presidency, the coach was like, all right,
you should fight him. You should fight him, and you
should fight him. Who were the coaches on that season,
James Pulver and BJ Penn and I was on Jens
Polper's team, and I dug them both they were.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
The ship and.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
And uh, I was like, fucking now, I can't leave.
I was gonna leave in the middle the night when
we sleep, all right, I.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Picked me up, pick me up, I'm gonna I told you,
that's your first time out of Stockton.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
No, I've been in because I'm twenty one and Nick
been fighting that I've been moving around, so I've been
in Vegas fight so I kind of knew here ship was.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
But I was just young. I don't have none. I
wouldn't done ship.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Something going back, right, So you stuck it out?
Speaker 5 (27:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (27:07):
So I said there and I was like I have
to see here this whole time, and it was it
was and the whoop ass because every every like first
off on a week and I found like two weeks
and then front on the last weekend after what someone
guess it's.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Cool for like a day like cool, I fucked him.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
And this time goes by there this is and then
the worst part was when I got home and I
was done with it, and I went home and had
to watch it on TV.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
So I'm watching on TV. Oh, Mohammed's be like, Oh,
it's Tuesday night or whatever is on Spike TV. That's Tuesday.
Get over here, we're watching.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I'm like, and I'm like, I don't know what self really?
Speaker 5 (27:46):
Yeah, I always hated.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
I hated, but you want it?
Speaker 5 (27:49):
Right?
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Did you win it? I want it?
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (27:51):
You embarrassed s. That's interesting first time and I never
heard myself in interview. All the ship felt awkward.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
Yeah, it still happens like that.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Really don't like it.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
I don't come to with you, guys. I don't be
fucking I see you guys.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
Yeah, yeah, shake that right up. So he first fight
in the UFC, like, what what did that feel like?
Speaker 5 (28:17):
And then when I found the finale and then I
find it and then it just kept going and growing bigger. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
I kept going and going and and then after a while,
That's what I'm saying about when I didn't know.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
What when it was the job was until just recently,
because I just fought for years and years and stage
just kept gettinghigher.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
And I was kind of just like, so so so
disciplined and to the r and and like fuck everything else,
and we're just just with the whole fight game for
so many years until I was like, wait a minute,
why they were richer than me?
Speaker 5 (28:50):
You know what I'm saying. And then I realized.
Speaker 4 (28:52):
But but I was finding like all the biggest arenas
fucking the Garden MGM and man l A.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
But you've always been Did it trip you out that
everywhere you went you were a fan favorite, like people
love not your love, you know what I mean? Like,
what was that experience? Like when did you kind of
feel like I made it?
Speaker 3 (29:12):
Well?
Speaker 5 (29:12):
The dad went an ultimate fighter? I thought I made it.
I thought I was a millionaire.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
That's like, but I had no concept of how much
a million dollars was or a hundred or one hundred
dollarand I even know what that was.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
You know what I'm saying. So it was like shit,
good good the whole time.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Nowadays I look back and remember shit went on twenty three,
twenty four, and twenty seven, I'm like, damn, I was
fucking like doing some crazy shit even though.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
I was all was out of control.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Dana White takes heat for underpaying fighters. What are your
thoughts on that and and how much when you first started,
when you were doing big fights, how much were you
making during that time if you don't mind sharing that.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
So when I got out there, I said, I then
then Ultimate Fighter when I won, when I went on
the show, because they said six figure contract, I didn't
know what that meant. That sounds like I'm a billion dollars,
you know what I'm saying. I don't feel what that was.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
And uh so I went to the Ultimate Fighter and
when I got done, and I looked at Dana and
he was talking like like I'm rich now I say
it to my on TV.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
On the video you can see that like when I went,
I'm like, I'm on juice, like I'm riched, Like I'm
gonna go by this house right here, by that guard.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
All that, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
And I was like, like cool, because like I was
fighting five from my first five five hundred dollars, my
next seven hundred nine underrated and eleven hundred.
Speaker 5 (30:41):
And I was making that ship go for months or months,
you know. So when I did that was like, I'm rich.
And then I don't think people have a concept of
what money is and how much I think Dan and white.
I think being a white gets.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Gets a fucking he gets a he gets a bad rap,
you know, got it, But I'm not giving him a
good one. But I'm well, he's paying a lot more people,
a lot more money than fucking people think, Like, I
just don't think people know what the fucking what?
Speaker 2 (31:21):
How is he as a person?
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Yeah, I think he's cool.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
I'm not backing up Dan on why and why I
no more money to give them motherfuckers some more money.
Speaker 5 (31:31):
Give me some too if I go back there, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
But I think I think he's paying a lot of
people a lot of money more than the boxing is
fucking like everyone's like boxing, boxing has the highest paid,
the highest big fights.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
Like like if you think about as far as.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Combat sports, like boxing is paid the highest paid fighters
a lot more than you see has but you see,
I think that pays a lot more.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
Where people a lot of money just overall.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Yeah, there's so many of them.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
He pads the whole roster a bunch of fucking ship.
But when neighbor did, when when people people, when they
make this ship happen, though they should be like what
they should demand, they shouldn't get the own ship.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
That's up to you, I believe. Yeah, like.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
You are what you negotiate.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Yeah, that's because even what I already been through and
did that ship so like people were like they started
a union ship, When are you get the union?
Speaker 5 (32:33):
I'm like a union. I was talking all that fuck
you to your seeing anyone's helping. I'm gonna have to
make my own motherfucking union. And then it happened. And then, uh,
if you train hard enough there, you'll figure that ship out.
Because you'll figure that out on miles on miles.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
It's the game within the game, the art of trash talking.
You're you're big on on on talking ship. Where did
that come from? And who are some of the greatest
trash talkers? In your opinion?
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Chell Soon chill Son is hilarious. That's how I got
That's that's how you got. Who else trush?
Speaker 2 (33:13):
But when did when? When did you put that in
your game? You've always been someone that talked.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
Oh yeah, I'm different than him, though, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
You have a different style.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
I'm just talking shit when I'm fighting, like for real
about it, chests on it be talking hell shit like period. Yeah,
I hate hilarious.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
My brother I saw my brother and the older homies
all fighting people too on the streets and the like,
talking shit, wat's happening?
Speaker 5 (33:38):
And oh that's how you fight.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
M your Robert m'connor was one of the best in
the MMA, y'all. Fought twice in twenty sixteen. Choked him
out the first time, lost by the cition the second time.
So much bad blood. When you look back on it,
do you see do you think that you two elevated
each other?
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
It was definitely good for for us as fans. We
enjoyed it. We enjoyed the robbery. Are y'all good now?
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Mhm h.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
I think he's cool, but fucking.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
If they offered you to fight him again, would you?
Speaker 4 (34:24):
I'm offering them to fight with boxing boxing hands either way,
you any or just hands.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
Either way, it's fine.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
I like to fight him in mm A. I like
to fight the guy fighting in m m A. I
like to fight all these motherfuckers in a real fight.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
But uh if they can only box on boxing too.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
You have made a lot of fight bonuses in the
in UFC history. Can you break that down to you?
Like how you get them fight bonus? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (34:55):
I think that just comes with the training, just gonna
trend harder and trending better than everybody. And uh, you
got no choice about to fight fight better than every.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
And the and the and the bonus in the contract,
like if you knock him out, you get more money
off you. Like, how does that work when you get
those bonuses?
Speaker 5 (35:14):
You yet? Uh?
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Yeah, back in the day with sixty five racks, if
you won a bonus, you got fight a nice sermission
night and knock on the night.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Yeah, and what are those bonuses?
Speaker 5 (35:25):
Like I got the record hunt?
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Did you just say yes, I won most bonuses?
Speaker 8 (35:29):
And I'm like, why don't they be? Like why you
think your some tired? Like what it says so paper.
Speaker 5 (35:36):
We got and I for a lot.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
I took a year off, a few few years in
arow and three years one time, I still got more
than all you more if I catch up. By now,
they all knock down out the career by now. People
want to get in these careers. And for ship talking,
it's crazy. I'm not going to talk all that ship.
But you're gonna be like peeking and popping for two or.
Speaker 8 (35:54):
Three years, right, I've been when I say twenty one
one of them, you see two thousand and seven, I
got into the ARC and uh.
Speaker 5 (36:03):
What years right now? Twenty four?
Speaker 4 (36:06):
You know what I'm saying, I'm like, I'm still fucking
app about hold this fight must popping, motherfucker right, I
just find what happened when I twentsand seven I went
on to a fighter popping the whole time I've been
hot from the beginning.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Formalt Bro bye bye bye by.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
What I'm saying is they should fools to be talking ship.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Yeah, and I just heard fucking people with similar fighters
saying some ship in my year of fucking rookie talking.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
You've been fighting for three years, you got twenty years
and get your Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Well, even just getting into the top ten, they throw
them right in and they get the top ten and
five minutes and you know what I'm saying, how wanted
they take the top ten basketball player forever? Right?
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Well, how you can your top ten? You got one
win versus.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
One of the guy in fucking twenty five amateur lamb fight.
I've been top five guys the whole time I've been fighting.
And they're like they're trying to act like I'm down
and now too because I left the ARC.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
It's I like that. You see was like you gotta go.
You'reder and down and down. I'm out this bitch, I'm popping.
I gotta go gut ship today. So when I left
the motherfucker right now, that's how they projected. But I'm like,
watch me be right back and when this motherfucking.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Champion at one seventy so that I just knocked stupid,
just knocked out everybody else.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
So I'm down and out. I'll be right back.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Never sixty damn.
Speaker 5 (37:30):
And years off and still.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
So you see yourself getting back into the UFC at
some point. Obviously you're boxing right now.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
But I plan on went in a bunch of asses
out here and making a bunch of money and then
going back to your seeing.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Well, I don't that's my plan.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
