Speaker 1 (00:01):
And that's what you Really missed with Jenna.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
Podcast, Welcome to You, and That's what you Really miss podcast.
It's ugly episode. It's always a Glee episode. Glee on Glee.
We have another Glee rewatch podcast and they have their
finger on the pulse and this is Recovering Cleek.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Dedicated big fans. Oh yeah, and what what a time
we just had.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Are so funny and so sweet.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
They know everything.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
We know nothing. They're doing deep dives and they're uh,
they've done a huge rewatch. They've hosted a cabaret at
fifty four below singing Glee. I just you know they
know some Glee versions. This is like when Ian's talking
about knowing Glee versions of songs but not knowing the original,
(01:00):
Like that's a fan.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, yeah, they're wonderful. This is the host of Recovering
Gleeks Lena and Ian.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Oh my god, Hi.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Hi, hello, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
This is crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
How are you you.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Ever had someone cry on an episode?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
No, but we cried. It's okay, yeah holy?
Speaker 2 (01:32):
So likewise, are you kidding me? I mean, you guys
were doing this before we were, so this is you know,
does predate us. Well, yeah, okay, fine.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
I generally I am so emotional right now. It's so
good to me.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Thank you so so much. But those of you who
don't know who are listening, Recovering Gleek is another Glee podcast,
and then and Ian have been doing it for years.
If we watched everything and are so wonderful. Yes, I
wish you could see them right now. They're smiling.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
It's just a huge moment for us.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I'm like, God, gleas talk about it.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
So tell us how this podcast happened. I mean, maybe
we got to go further, the friendships, the watching Glee
in the first place, like what happened?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
So sweet?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
So Lean and I met in college back in twenty sixteen.
We met in college and we were friends for years,
and it's so bizarre. Glee just like never came up
in our conversations. And then literally we know the exact
location we were at when the podcast was incepted. We
were in a production of Andreloid Weber's classic Joseph and
(02:52):
the Amazing TCH Color dream Coat Incredible, and we were
on a bus to go to a concert. We found
out in a conversation that unbeknowns to teach other. We
were both huge gleeks, had been there from the beginning,
had watched you know, like from the pilot onward, and
had incredibly strong opinions about it. And I feel like
Glee had a huge resurgence in the pandemic. Yes, and
(03:15):
twenty nineteen, we were like, we're the only two people
talking about this. Yeah, no one's anymore the curve. Yeah,
we really felt like it was it was our calling
we had. We had to get out there and start
talking about Glee again.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Closet each other on.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
A bus excuously. I looked at him and I was like,
how have we never spoken about this before?
Speaker 1 (03:35):
It was a huge I was so excovery.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, were there What were your if you remember, if
you can take us back some of your initial like, oh,
we have to share these opinions like hot takes, maybe
that you thought about the show that you bonded over immediately.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I distinctly remember the main thing that we talked about
was just like we loved it so much, like it
was like it consumed us, Like we streamed all the music,
we watched every single episode the night of, and then
we would bring up plot points that would be like
but remember this, this feels crazy. Yeah, specific I remember
(04:15):
this already. Plot like got brought up on the bus
and one of us is like, remember when they did
The West Side Story and I already told them they
had to lose their virginities to do a high school production.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
That was crazy.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Seven insane. I know we also thought that was insane.
I don't know that I thought it was that insane
while we were filming it, to be honest, like I
don't really tell me, but like watching.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
It now, you're like, whoa, yeah, watching it, I was
like I said that, But I do remember at the
time being like this is hilarious. Yeah, and I like
to do this.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
I was like I cannot imagine to drop my dream
of theater.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
I would have done it, do you know what I mean?
I would have done it, honestly if I as well.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah, I remember too.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Like the Glee renaissance in twenty twenty, we were like,
we've been saying this for years. We've been saying this
for years, so we were finally like, it's time. It's
time we have to.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, Like we're like we were ahead of the curve,
like get out of here, everybody else. We were here first,
and that's.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
The feeling that we had where we were like people
are like dunking on, like Rachel sending Sunshine to a
crack house, but they don't know what we know, Like
they don't love it like we love it.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Right, It's like you can only only we can talk
to you about our friends, like they can't.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, xact because they're still our friends.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
They still our friends exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Yeah, And that was a big sticking point for us,
was it was frustrating part of the Cleave renaissance during
COVID was so much dunking Yeah, like you're missing the
force for the trees, like this show is genius. And
also a lot of the stuff that you are making
fun of, you're just not in on the joke, Like, correct,
the show is aware that it is being ridiculous and
(06:05):
actually you just don't get that.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yeah. That was very illuminating of what this were the
talking points for certain demographics during twenty twenty. I was like, oh,
they don't know what satire is exactly exactly, but love
that they you know. But also part of that was
seeing then the people who did watch it and they're like, yeah,
(06:30):
this show's a little crazy, but oh there's nothing else
like this and we love it, And that to me
was also equally as surprising, because you know, the show
looks I think feels obviously a little dated sometimes too,
as you're watching it in comparison to like what's out now,
and the fact that like kids are enjoying it is
(06:51):
really surprising and lovely.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yeah, yeah, I think Glee at it's like at its core,
Glee is a message that every kid, especially every kid
involved in the arts, can relate to, whether some of
it is dated, whether some of it is like super insane,
if you feel ostracized, if you feel like a weirdo,
if you feel like a loser, those things are your superpower.
(07:15):
That's what makes you special.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
What you're saying is like also kind of why I
feel like Kevin people really like loser like me. Yeah,
you guys like loser like me. In the song.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
I Love like Me, we are I can only be
who I are. I remember I streamed it so much.
I bought a like this.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
I was so happy when that was cut from them.
Y I.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yes, I love it.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
I really at the time, I seriously was like, just
go ahead and hate on me. I just really I
felt I get it, but my soul.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Empowered.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
No, I know, but we just like we were so afraid.
We were so afraid, and we were like, this is
the song we're gonna put out, and then it just
we were wrong. We were so long, so wrong, and
that's okay. We yes, I'm glad we're wrong. Now we
have to talk about the fact that, aside from the podcast,
(08:21):
you also hosted Glee fifty four Sings, the Glee version.
Because fifty four is a very dear place in my heart.
I performed there many many a time, and I didn't
know you guys did this. Okay, can you tell me
about that?
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Yeah, that was like one of the most special things
of my whole life. Like we were brought in they
sent us a message. They were like, hey, we're big
fans of the podcast, would you want to come in
and like maybe perform slash host the show My heart
out of my my butt. I like, because it was
my dream to perform there. I like have so many yeah,
(09:00):
like YouTube videos saved like of performances from there, so
it's a huge moment. But yeah, the producers like had
seen us on TikTok and then seen some like like
had listened to our podcast a little bit and brought
us in and it was so oh my gosh, so
cool and it was such a cool like like we
had met so many other like other TikTok gleeks as well,
(09:23):
so it was like a real It was just a
really awesome meetup, and it was like a really amazing
opportunity and a beautiful way to like show how much
we love Glee to the public.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, for sure, how much fun?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Pissed I missed that we just finished watching season five.
You guys have already done all six seasons at this point.
What should we be feeling? Yeah, and what should we
(09:57):
be looking forward to? Are looking for? You know?
Speaker 3 (10:03):
See, Yeah, you've come to the right place. Our podcast
has been fiercely pro season six from the jump.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
From the jump, Wow, I think like and like.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
We fully are like talking about the roads not taken
back in twenty twenty and we just mentioned that like
some of our favorite episodes of the entire show are
in season six. Wow. So excitement is what you should
be feeling.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
Yeah, I am excited and this just this is so
confirmed the excitement. I was tentatively excited, Now I'm fully excited.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
I'm curious.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Jenna, do you not believe them?
Speaker 1 (10:41):
I do believe them. I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I don't have to we are really do believe you.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
I mean, like honestly, all of the people listening here,
like they write you guys all write in and like
you're always right, like their fingers like on the pulls,
they get it, like you guys are always right. So
I totally trust you, guys. I just have an expectation
and I'm just trying to nix that so that I
can go in clear hud it and excite it. It
(11:12):
was such a weird time, you know what I mean,
And like it was closing out and it was like
half a season and it just felt like I was
coming back in and just it was all it was
all these new people and You're like, what's happening? But
like we hear like this class is very quirky and
funny and like how like their chemistry. So I'm into it.
I'm into it. I'm not here to judge.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
You know, what are some highlights? Do you have favorite
numbers or characters?
Speaker 4 (11:36):
So my favorite episode, like maybe one of my we
recently did like a recap, like we both picked two
episodes of our like two of our favorite episodes to recap,
and one of my favorites is the hurt Locker Part two.
I love I can't tell you what it is, especially
the hurt Locker Part two. I think that competition is
so silly. I think the saw trap is so silly.
(11:59):
It just like to me, and of course I wasn't there,
but the vibe is let's just throw at.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
The wall and have fun.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
And I just love that. A listener made me this.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Oh oh my god, it is the version of Sevester.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
It is terribly That's how much I love it.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
You know.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
I literally I opened this up like in front of
my family at dinner and they were like, it's the
scariest thing I've ever seen. I was like, this is
actually my.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
It is beautiful, well done.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
One of our Your name was Britney. Shout out to Brittany.
But yeah, like I love that episode so much. It's
just the whole season to me, is just silly and
like getting back to basics, like everyone kind of starting
at square one and everyone they're all everyone is such losers,
and I just I relate to that, and I think
it's silly and awesome and I've got so much love
(12:54):
for season six.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Now, what about season five, like when the split happened
and we're like not at McKinley anymore. What were your
feelings on like not seeing McKinley for a whole half season.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Yeah, season five and six, I feel like, are are
the seasons that people have very strong opinions one way
or the other on.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Personally, I like stuff in New York, but New York
is not my jam.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Necessarily, got it? Like, yes, I.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Love all of those characters so much and I want
to know what's going on with them, but I am
more interested in underdogs who are like really scraping by
in high school over like working professionals who are getting
Broadway gigs and booking TV shows.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Totally. Yes, Yeah, that's why I'm watching Smash. I understand,
I get this. Okay, I feel this in my books,
all right.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
I think coming into it too, I felt like really
strong about not liking the New York plot, but I
did like come to I think appreciate it a little
more this rewatch. I think that was a theme like
across the Board, is that we were coming in like
coming into Dunk on Glee, and then actually walked away
feeling like this is the best TV show ever, Like
(14:17):
we can't dunk on it. It's the best.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
So yeah, I think honestly we had when we were
talking about this iteration of the podcast. We created the
whole like Tarty takes thing at the end around like
there's gonna be a lot of things that did not
age well. It's sort of like the dunking section, and
it's sort of has not been as fruitful as I
(14:43):
think we originally thought it. Some of them are, but
it is not as many yees no, because I think
we were caught up also and like the algorithm of
constantly seeing all the things people were saying. But it's
a handful of things of the same thing, yeah, as
opposed to when you're watching twenty two episode seasons. Sure
(15:03):
there may be like one ish weird thing an episode. Sure,
this couple episode, there's a handful, but that was the
rare on rare occasion.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
No, I so agree, I so agree.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
We were like pretty bold in the early days about
being like I remember that I didn't like this thing
coming up, and then we'd watch the thing and be
like egg on my face, I actually.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Like it, yes so.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Much.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
We recently re listened to our pilot episode and we
like did commentary along.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
With it, and I'm hilarious.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
God, I cannot believe we said the things we said
and like coming into like it's just like, yeah, we
actually were really humbled by the show. We really were.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah, that's great though. I love going back and doing
the commentary on your commentary is yes, wonderful.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Podcast within a podcast. Yeah, a lot of layers.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
It's beautiful, I think it. And it works for Glee,
you know, yeah, do that.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
There have been a handful of episodes I remember being
like dragging my feet to watch because you're like, oh God,
this episode and they're not as bad as we think
they are.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Puppet Master, puppet Master I was.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I know that you probably feel seperately about this because
I know that y'all hated What does the Fox say? Yeah,
puppet Master was one that we talked a big game
about and then watched it and both liked it a lot.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, I'm saying the same. Yeah, I publicly.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Talked so much shit about that and then egg on
my face. I'm like, this isn't that.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Bad narrative around it? I was like, I hate it too,
and then I watched it was like it's not so bad.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Really enjoyed.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
I know, Jen, I hate Skungham style. I'm like, Danna,
you sound great.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Thanks, this is so weird.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
One recently I watched Thanksgiving. It was like, is this
one of the Glee's greatest hit something is amazing?
Speaker 1 (17:02):
No, I know that's a weird one too.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
But they have and let's have a Kiky in the
same episode that was a gift.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Baby could pull that off.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
But also us doubting Ryan. I think because Ryan said
it with his full chest that he liked, let's have
a kiky turkey lurkey time, and we were like, you're crazy.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
To perform at fifty four below.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
That is okay, okay, I'm going to have to watch this.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
We'll send you Yeah, we'll send you a video. We'll
send you a video.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
I gotta know, like separately, how you came to Glee
and what y'all are like like in high school compared
to Glee.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yes, so, I I think I was in seventh or
eighth grade when I first saw like the first episode
of the first episode that I saw. I can't remember
if it was the pilot or if it was the
second episode, but it was early and I was doing
theater in middle school. I was like, also, I was
(18:10):
like also goth at the time, I felt yes, I
felt like really like those were especially like I had
so many feelings that like I could only express through music.
So I was like, these are my people, and everyone
was watching it, and like my teachers were all telling
me to watch it, and I really felt so seen
(18:32):
and heard. And then like throughout high school, I really
like also was in theater and all that kind of stuff.
So I stayed true and watched the entire show. It
was like the thing that my parents knew, Like it
was like the only thing I cared about. I like
didn't have a ton of friends. So when I like
was doing poorly in school or like was being bad,
my parents were like, well, if you don't do this,
(18:54):
you cannot watch Glee this week. And I was like, no,
you guys don't understand that. I was like, if you
take this away, you're taking away Like what am I
gonna do? No, But it was the thing that like
my parents would like get me on track. But yeah,
I stayed true the whole time. I really felt so
seene by Glee, and I felt a lot of parallels happened. No,
(19:18):
oh my gosh not. I honestly was really boring, So
maybe not, but I felt like emotionally like I.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Get a parallel. That's it. Parallel. Yeah, oh my god,
Okay that makes sense. That sense.
Speaker 4 (19:33):
And then the show ended twenty fifteen, which was my
senior year of high school. So I remember like, yeah,
I was like feeling so many feelings about like graduating
high school and Glee was ending, and I was like,
my childhood is over. And I remember like sobbing on
the couch for like an hour, and my mom was like,
it's okay, Like things end, it's okay, and I just
(19:53):
really so, I really like feel like Glee is like
like a torch for me in my teen years.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
For we raised you for better or for worse exactly.
So we held your hand and walked you through that
exactly and told you to lose your virginity exactly.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
We're real role models here.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
You know.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
I loved it.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
I loved it.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
You know, at least you had the filter enough to
be like, well, not taking that one with me, but
what about you? Ian?
Speaker 3 (20:22):
So Glee started my freshman year of high school. I
was the same age as Tina and Artie until they
did that slow motion and seasons four and five right Truly,
the Glee pilot was like the pilot that rocked the world.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I did not watch the pilot live.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
The first episode I watched live was Showmance, but it
was because everyone was talking about the pilot and everyone
was telling me that I would really like Glee, so
I jumped in at show Mans. I didn't see the
pilot until I bought season one on DVD. The but
I was so obsessed. I was I did choir in
high school, I did like some community theater, and I
(21:04):
was also closeted, so it was like very much the
show just like although at the time I was I
was like deeply deeply closeted, but like the show just
really spoke to a lot of parts of me and
it was just so exciting to I don't know. I
was a big fan of this is so random of
the TV shows, Like I loved the TV show Pushing Daisies.
(21:26):
Oh yeah, with the song Jama mays Is on an episode,
I felt.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Like we had the same vibe.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Was like everyone talked really fast and they were all
very very funny but with music, and that was so
thrilling to me. I was so into it. It got
to a point where my parents had to put a
family rule that we weren't allowed to listen to Glee
in the car anymore, because it was literally all they
would play. And my parents were like, we love you,
(21:55):
but we can't take this anymore. We have to listen
to something else. I can't jump again.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Not jumping the one I love that cover.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
There were so many cover, so many songs I knew
because of Glee. I remember like being at Scout camp
and the other Scouts were singing Gives You Hell, and
I was singing along, and I was like, little do
they know? I don't know the American readbecks Michel Barry.
That's why I know it.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
I know it, but I know the song.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
And that's what's being What's what it's like being closeted
in high school?
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Yes, I did exactly version so funny.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
I was on like the IMDb message boards. I'm not
getting like two to three hours a day, gossiping what
was going to happen next, looking at set photos, what
songs are going to be happening? Like I remember a
bunch of rumors from back in the day that people
were saying on those message boards that are like cannon
to me because I got sot in them.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
I was committed, dedicated. Oh my god, I didn't even
know like I knew people were on like Twitter, Tumblr
and like Reddit and things. The IMDb message that's like the.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Real ones, remembered.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
I used to frequent those message boards, not for Glee,
but like back in the day for like other things.
And I was trying to find out info about shows
and movies that I like, yes, yeah, this is me typing.
This is my hand motion. That was me. You didn't
even see it.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
It was like, Cam, I can't tape any I'm a
really bad typer.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Are you I read this?
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Sometimes I take typing tests for fun.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
That's fun. I love that.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Like once a month. I seriously considered like buying a
typing course. Oh my gosh, you know, yeah I do.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
Yeah. I learned when they used to put the paper
over your hands, like because this is that way you
didn't cheat. And look now that reminds me of like
when I was little, well not little, when I was
in high school and Rent came out. Rent was out
at like the height of it's like phenomenon too, and
(24:08):
my Dad was like, no more, Jenna, turn it off.
I can't anymore. Just one more time. I have to
learn the words still love you, bab, I have to.
He's like, I just I'm going to break the CD
in half if you don't stop listening to this right now.
That's well, that's very exciting.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I'm uh Jenna is also a gay man.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Of course, Yes, everyone who watches is on some level.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I would have I would have started a podcast if
I wasn't on Glee about that. Do you know what
I mean? Like that would have been me?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
I would have I would have hated it.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
I think I would have been dying for this show.
For sure. I would have watched it.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
I think I would have hate watched it.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
I think I I had an audition for it and not
gotten it. Maybe I would watched it. You know, that's
different stories.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
We have a friend mouth years later was like, so
I auditioned? Like what?
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, everybody was for it.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Of course, I'm sure a few years older I would
have been doing the same thing.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
Oh I remember I was like in junior high, like
I'm going to get the on the show.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Was.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
I was like from a small town in Utah. There's
no way quick.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
You feel like that, right, was like I need on
that show and then she did.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
I remember I was just too young to do the
Glee Project because I really thought about it.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Oh wow, well it didn't happen.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Did you both watch the Glee Project?
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, and we we've we've done episodes
on it as well.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
The really okay, what are the feelings about it? Tell us?
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Oh my gosh, I was so into the Glee Project
the time. I feel as though we think that the
structure like didn't make a lot of sense, especially the
first season when it would be Ryan like getting to
know Damien McGinty week after week because he was in
the bottom that he wasn't seeing especially the girls in
the top who like weren't getting called to the bottom.
(26:18):
So like the structure of the show just didn't work.
But we love that show. We like qut it to
this day. There it is like a riff off that
they do.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
We loved there's an interaction where two contestants on that
show are having a competition to see if who's falsetto
goes higher, and it is like it is life or
death to them, sat and watching it. That's the reality TV.
I want to be watching That's what I'm invested in.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
I mean, storyline exactly like the one they did, right
of course, Yeah you know I'm watching that. Okay, I
get it. I probably I would have watched Glee Project too,
I get it.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Okay, Glee Project is like some of the best reality
TV out there. It's insane.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
I don't know, Kevin, do we have to do that?
You should?
Speaker 2 (27:03):
You should?
Speaker 4 (27:06):
I will say our listenership severely dropped when we covered projects.
No one wanted to listen.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
To y'all were on Glee.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
If people care so much more about what you two say,
you'll be fine to hear your thoughts. I'm so curious.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Oh god, I need that little moment of silence to
play back on lub just I will say, Oh God,
that I'm sweating.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Project fans fans.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
I mean, we were really thinking about it first. I
was like, do we need to like recap this like
show now? Kevin's like, no, we're not.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Well, oh my god.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
It felt crazy while we were like this other universe
was happening while we were doing this thing.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
You know, I have a question when when the Glee
Project was filming, because you know, every once in a
while they'll be like, and here's your special mentor please
welcome Kevin mchill. What were you doing, Like, what was
your life like outside of that? Were you touring? Were
you filming the show proper? Like what was going on that.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
They were filming?
Speaker 2 (28:27):
We were filming the show.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
You would like show up on a Saturday to do
those Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
That's and so we have all these conflicting feelings about
Glee Project. I think because of that, Like the context
was like, we're tired. What is this other show that
also feels a little threatening that you're like getting people
to replace us? And then yeah, that's what Obviously that
(28:55):
was not the intent, but like that's what it felt
like a little bit. And then they'd be like, oh,
on your like day and a half off that you have, basically,
can you spend half a day going to do this thing?
And we're like no, And then Ryan would call and
be like.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Oh, you gotta go do this thing. The truth was,
and here's the real truth about the Glee Project when
it was happening, or at least from my perspective, it
was like there were in the American idols, right, and
that had like legitimized a lot. It helped us kind
of get our audience, like it was in the same vein.
(29:33):
And then as somebody who came in from theater who
like was an actor, Like you know, you're like, oh,
these nobodies, but you're like, but I've been working forever.
I worked really hard, like I'm an actor, right, and
then you have these people coming in from my space,
which is like a whole new world does the Internet
was like new finding talent, Like there wasn't like TikTok
(29:57):
where they're pulling artists off of that that are now huge,
huge artists rightfully, So it felt like you're like, oh,
it delegitimizes Glee as this TV show. It makes it
more of a reality thing where you're like pulling people
out of nowhere and like Middle America. No offense, but
like you know, it's just one of those things that
(30:18):
like felt I was like we're taking notes, yeah exactly,
You're like, see you later. But it just that's what
it felt like in that moment because we now obviously
know and see the way that this industry works and
talent comes from everywhere and we have to find it
(30:39):
and we have the facility to find it. But back
then it just I was like, don't delegitimize Glee like
our show. We like all are trained actors, performers who,
like you know what I mean, we worked really hard
to be here.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
You know what I hear, Jenna is Middle America.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
I'm in Middle America right now.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Jenna. Yeah, I hope you feel her disdain for you
right now.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
I feel it.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Wow, Jenna wow Es, tell me about your favorite characters
and your favorite songs, ones that you talk about a lot,
(31:25):
craziest storylines and we've touched on a little bit, and
favorite season. I'm curious to hear.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Also, I am at my core, which like I've complicated
feelings about this, but I'm a Rachel Berry fan through
and through, and it is because I know that girl.
Like I feel like anyone who has been in terming
arts at any time either was Rachel Berry to some
(31:52):
degree or newer Rachel Berry. Like I know the girl
who is yes, very very talented, but doesn't know how
to connect with other people, and so like comes off
as really abrasive because the only thing she's ever been
praised for is her talent, and so in her brain,
my value as a person is my talent and nothing else.
And if someone threatens my talent, they are threatening my
(32:14):
value as a person. I just find her super interesting
the whole time. For that reason, I like Rachel Moore
when she is on the bottom, like, you know, she
is struggling to make friends. People are you know, bringing
her in, helping her see her worth. That's when I
find her the most rootable and most compelling. Yeah, I'm
(32:36):
a Rachel Barry fan at the end of the day.
My favorite Rachel song, Oh my gosh, what a question.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
That's not fair.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
No, no, no, no, no, it's totally fair. And I do think ultimately,
I mean, like, don't ride on my parade, define the culture,
change the world. But I think my favorite favorite is
probably Faithfully. I love that Faithfully.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
The way we stat on tour. Listen to the two
of them do that live and we like we like
every night, like so good, it's so good. Never love that. Okay,
that's a good one. Yeah, you know what about you?
Speaker 4 (33:21):
I would agree. I would say that Rachel's probably my
favorite character. My favorite song in Glee is kind of
I don't know, I don't know what it is about
this song, but it is my heart song. It lives
in my bones. Every time I hear it, I can't
help but dance every time I have a bad day,
Like I have real panic at jackson Ian has turned
(33:42):
this song on. I'm not going to teach your boyfriend
how to dance with you. I love that song so much.
I can't even express how much I love that song.
To me, it is like an amazing song that like
makes me want to dance, and I love it, But
I also love everything that's happening. Yeah, between I love
like Sue torturing Artie, I love like.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
Good fun like it just to me is like I love.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
That episode so much, and I just think that's like
one of my favorite like moments of ever. It's just
so fascinated. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
I think that's the first time somebody said that.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Yeah really the first? Yeah for sure.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Oh I like it, I get it. I get it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Wow, Okay, it's very Do you have a favorite Rachel
song favorly as well? Yeah, and this is why you
are co.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Hosts exactly exactly.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
I knew he was going to say that, because I
would have said that.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
I just recorded in an episode recently. Yesterday, we record an
episode about some songs and our lists were like almost
exactly the same list to like the Google doc this
is yeah, we got it, we got it.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
I'm like you put in thirty songs, three of them
are different, Like what I understand, Ian, Do you have
a favorite song from Glee?
Speaker 4 (35:05):
I do?
Speaker 3 (35:06):
I do want to say first, just because you're on
this call with me and I heard you being complimented
on this the other day on the podcast and you
were downplaying it in my top five muscles and to
songs is I always want to call it the wrong name.
Hold up more than a feeling from city always you
sound literally like one of the best pocal performances on
(35:27):
the entire show. Is incredible, And when I watched the
MP four, like when I watch the video, it makes
me cry. You know how you are feeling in the moment,
but you seem to be radiating such joy in that number.
It is like it messes me up.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
Like you shared the other day of like just someone
filming from the back.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Of the auditorium.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
Oh yeah, God, so powerful, Holy moly.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
That list is one of the best from the show.
In my opinion, it's amastic.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah, I agree, Like Jenna, do you not feel like
you sound great? On that song.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
No, No, I'm proud of it. I'm definitely proud of it.
It's one of my prouder numbers for sure. I just
I have such an emotional attachment to that that competition.
I think it's one of it's the best one we've
ever done musically, I think emotionally obviously, some some found
when I'm looking for got us all Kevin and I
(36:23):
could cry like the drop of a hat watching that one,
But but I don't. I didn't think it was like
out of the realm of something like super super different
than I've done before. So I'm like, I was kind
of surprised. I'm like, oh, like, I don't feel like
this is like crazy different from what Tina has done.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
You can sing your face off, and you can belt
and stay up there and your voice is soaking high. Yeah,
and you never get to I don't think you've got
to showcase that very often.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
That's very kind.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
And I think that that song, especially you singing that
style of music, strangely fits your voice perfectly.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
You know, it's funny. I appreciate that a lot, I
really do, And I am proud of that song, and
I like that song. It's a good original song, like
I'm I'm like, yes, a great song to cover. That's
exciting to me too. I think as I went on
in the show Kevin and maybe you can you can
back me up here tell me differently, like I feel
(37:18):
like I got more comfortable in my own like skin
and like in my voice in the recordings to you,
because it's so different than stage, and I think I
just like didn't give. I had like zero fs to give,
so I just was like, let's just do this. And
like even Andrew from uh com clearly thank you. Oh
(37:39):
my god, sorry my mom brand that's crazy. He was like,
so far Away is a really good song. And I
was like, oh my god, I don't remember recording that.
I was like, I was on that it's me and
Diana only and I listened to it and I was like,
that's my voice and it's different than season one, season two,
(38:02):
season three.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Something happened. I had a similar thing happened to me
though my voice changed in like season five, and I
think it was because I don't know, maybe it's because
we were like the ever old people and the new
people and so like our place made us feel more
confident and comfortable and also efficiency, Like, if we just
sing this as hard as possible, immediately we're out of
(38:25):
the recording studio.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
This is what you're getting.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
Yeah, sorry, Ian, we totally do that. You're talking about
your favorite suff Yeah, yeah, I actually I do.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
Lena and I made a promise with each other that
we would bring this up at some point, and we.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Have a segment on our show where like we love
to talk about and especially it just it hurts us
and bothers us so much that, like all the Tina
songs get cut off. We are hurt and bothered by
the character assassination. We are hurt and bothered by a
lot of the treatment of Tina co and Chang. We
wrote her a song plenty of time.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
Anytime that like we're discussing a moment of the show
that we're like, why would they do this to Tina?
We played this song hopefully you can hear it.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
They did you so wrong, Cohen, Sorry jingle, We'll go
play the jingle, like, because we're so angry and upset.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
We're filled with righteous indignation from what they did to
your character. Give us I follow Rivers the whole track.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Guys are watering. What release revolution? Can I need to
hear that one more time that please do sing.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
That is the worst part of my entire day. You
sound so good on the five seconds. Also, the brown
dress is iconic.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Come on, I love that brown dress. Wait, okay, play this.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
They did you so wrong t cohench.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Well number one. I'm honored. I'm honored that Gina got
her own jingle. God bless. I'm so my god, so
tickled by that. It really made my day. I think
that's my new ringtone. I really love it. I love it.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Silent but.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
So much joy.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
Oh that's so sweet. You guys, you know we've been
into it. We just we laugh because you have to.
And also it was like part of it. I kind
of like learned outside of it. Now rewatching it, I
have less rage about it than I did when I
was inside of it, because you're like, what what's wrong
(40:53):
with me? Hate me so much? But like you know,
when you look at it, it's like the jokes now
are it's she's crazy, and like we love her for
it and we're just gonna we're leaning into it.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
It's a bit of the snake eating itself though, or
is it the chicken and the egg metaphor? I don't know,
but it's sort of like, is she crazy? Because right
did they did? Yeah? And then the lean into it's.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Like the the treatment of Tina the whole series DRIs
and Crazy. But the one that is most agregious to
me is PROP season three, which is pitched as this
is the episode where Tina finally gets her moment.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, the moral of the episode, I know, I.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Know, it's like, Tina, you should shut up and wait
your turn, take your time. Yeah, you're gonna lead the
club next year. Q season four, episode one, Blaine and
Marley are chosen as the leaders of the club. It
makes my blood boil.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
She also is like, I'm just gonna like sit back
and be a prop and like be in the background because,
like you know, it takes a lot of people to
like make it. And I was like, don't give up
on yourself, Tina. Yeah that I do feel like though
she does get her moments in season five, like I
really do, and more than a feeling, I get it,
(42:09):
Like I do feel like she does get her time
to shine or like she just requests it, you know,
because I was just like, watch out, bitches, here I go.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Could you imagine it's over one that Tina would have
been belting like that, and more than a feeling like
that is a it's a whole different person.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
It's crazy, it's amazing.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Well, a long way, a long journey from your favorite
from one of your favorite songs. I'm honored for the
Tina jingle. I'm also honored about more than a feeling,
but that, Yeah, that whole competition, that whole season for us,
Like I'm sure you've heard us talk about it before,
but like we just had Kevin and I just had
a ball. Like there was something about just releasing everything
(42:53):
into like all the crap and like just being like
here we are still here in school, Like we're still here.
We found out that we were going to be juniors
at Comic Con on a panel in front of thousands
of people. We were like, okay, and I know Kevin
was smart enough to be like, well that's another year
of wore.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
I know, Jenny, you say thank you.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Yeah. I was like, well, at least Kevin and I
are there together.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
I'm like, they're not geting rid of the high school yet. Club.
They need us because we are normal and.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
So much fun with those with those those newbies. And
we had such a great time.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
So okay, Ian favorite songs of anticipation will ever, No,
I know it was me the derail that Don't Worry.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
My favorite song in all of Glee is the Adela
mash up in season three. It is also likely my
favorite scene. It is, like, musically it's really unique, it's improving.
Both songs in my opinion nine sound amazing. And then
story wise, yeah, the stakes of like Santana just found
out that she's about to be outed to her entire
(44:06):
town and now has to go on stage and sing
a song. Yes, those are the highest stakes in the world.
It's an incredible performance.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Yes, agreed.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Absolutely, we don't get a lot of that either, that
whole thing of something's been really there's a lot of
revealing and secrets being told on the show, but that
in between moment where it's like time stands still and
you're watching Naya actor ass Off and she.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Like has those little moments where she glances over at
Brittany and they share this kind of knowing looks chills.
It's so good.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
It's so good. Yeah, and the trouble tones, I mean, yeah,
oh yeah, just under I mean we needed like seven
more seasons.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
I think this maybe we'll turn into a Trouble Tones podcast.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
Honestly, I'm here for it. Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
We talked extensively about season five and six. Do you
have some greatest hits for one through four? A favorite
episodes or storylines or things that you guys especially love
to talk highlights?
Speaker 3 (45:13):
Yes, yes, we do differ our rankings. At the very
end of covering all the seasons. We we did like
our best and worst of everything, and we ranked all
the seasons, and our season rankings are identical except that
we disagree on the order of our top two.
Speaker 1 (45:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (45:32):
I like season two the most and he likes season
one the most. Obviously we love them both, but those.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
Are our top two.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Is that feels like a tough, big love for top
for season two?
Speaker 2 (45:42):
Yeah, I hear that.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
I know that. That definitely clicks for me. I feel like,
I mean, I think we'd pick one Kevin just because, right,
I think so? But it's two as a close close Yeah. Yeah,
I don't even know how I don't. Yeah, it's very interesting.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
It was really hard for us to do and we
weren't involved at all.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
So what was your least favorite?
Speaker 3 (46:10):
I agreed we both said was it was what we said.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
Yeah, it's so funny.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
Yeah, hmmm.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
I liked Season four like a lot.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Or I like when we discussed season four, I like,
literally just listen to our episode because I wanted to
remind myself what.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
I know. I get it, we get it, and.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
We do say that, like, there are some Season four
episodes that are like some of our favorite in the
entire series.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Like the Breakup.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
The breakup is excellent. There's a lot of like I
like dynamic, what's a lot Diva is amazing. Frankly like
arc in the back half of season four.
Speaker 1 (46:53):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a solid one.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Solid But I feel like season four has a bit
of like an I identity crisis where it's like, Okay,
the show is now different in what is the show
going forward? And at least in my opinion, it takes
them a little bit to solidify what is the show now. Yes,
I still like season four, but.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
We still love.
Speaker 2 (47:13):
That makes sense.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
It was a new venture for the show, for sure.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah yeah, yeah, And it wasn't nailed out of the
gate for sure. Yeah yeah, yeah, some growing pains.
Speaker 1 (47:26):
So now you guys are taking a sharp turn to
the left and you're exiting the Glee world. Yeah, now
you're saying goodbye to Glee. It's time you're moving on.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
You're graduating if you will.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Yeah from McKinley, how do you feel about it and
where are you going?
Speaker 4 (47:44):
I feel excited and also so sad. You've finished our
coverage of season six last.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Year in January.
Speaker 4 (47:53):
Wow, we have continued to talk about it. We've done
a lot of We've called them Glee wines. We've on
back and like looked at all the school dance episodes,
we like, covered all the Alfonso Gomes whole episodes. We like,
did a bunch of like different like all the coming
out episodes.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
Yes, so we.
Speaker 4 (48:12):
Really we have talked about Glee so much and I
feel so sad to be leaving it, but I also
feel excited for something new. But yeah, mostly that I
just keep I keep crying all the time. So mean
so much to me, and but we are excited to
to talk about something new and have some fun.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
Like truly, Glee is like one of our favorite shows
of all time, and we could talk about it forever,
but it got to the point, mainly for our listeners,
that we'd be saying stuff and be like, have we
said this exact opinion four times already.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Oh every episode, La letter, LA's like people are still here.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
Yeah, we're just parents. We have three thoughts and we
just repeat them in different orders every episode.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
I will just repeat Ian's thoughts as well. I will
pair it back his thoughts.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
I'll just reword it. I'm like, oh yeah, Samelar listening.
I do the same thing.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
So we are gonna cover Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Speaker 1 (49:12):
Now, Yes, exciting.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
Collective considering it already. And then the was announced and
we were like, this is very excited.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Loaded up, we gotta go. You guys have your finger
on the pulse.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
We've got sun.
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Taste makers.
Speaker 1 (49:39):
Okay, Before we let let you guys go, we have
a question. We always ask at the end of the podcast,
and we want to know what is the feeling that
Glee leaves you with or that you're leaving Glee with.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
N you know, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
It's bad time in the afternoon where it's either coffee
or make yourself laugh, you know I love that?
Speaker 3 (50:05):
Yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (50:06):
Think for me. Oh my gosh, it's so a I
can't believe I'm here. I'm so honored to be here.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
We seriously, this is a huge moment for us, and
thank you the Oh my gosh. So I'm I feel
like there were so many moments growing up. There were
so many moments, even like in my adulthood, where I
felt as though I like didn't have anyone to like
express this like artistic side of myself, like the Glee
(50:35):
side of myself too, And I went to Glee for
a feeling of home and a feeling of like like understanding.
So I feel incredibly at home by the Glee world
and the McKinley world. So that's that's how I that's
the feeling that I feel.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
That's a good one.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
Mm than we really are co hosts. I was going
to say, the feeling that Glee leads me with is
the feeling of being seen. I just like fourteen year
old me had never I don't think like seen characters
that I related to so much. And something that I
love about Glee is it allows its characters to be
(51:18):
ugly at times, like it allows them to make mistakes,
it allows them to have imperfections, but it always has
so much empathy for its characters. It helped me one
like love the weird parts of myself but then like
if I made a mistake, it was like, that's okay,
you can apologize and move on. There's so many moments
in the show where a character says something that resonates
(51:39):
so deeply with me, or that I am actively watching
the show and I do something while watching, and then
the camera Kurts cuts to like Kurt and he's doing
the exact same thing that It just it is truly
like the show for every performing arts kid in the world.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Yes, Yes, two incredible answers.
Speaker 1 (51:59):
Yeah said, it's been It was so nice to have
you guys on. Thank you for doing your podcast and
your show, keeping the Glee alive.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
I'm gonna need to go listen to that Alphonso episode.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
It might be five hours altogether.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
If anyone ever doubted how serious you were about your
love for Glee, you have. The two part Alphonso.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
Episode was the best. And I thought his episodes were
so beautifully shot, and they did take forever to shoot.
I will tell you that they were just you knew
he was coming, and you knew it was gonna be
a long day, but you knew it was gonna be beautiful.
That's like we just you it's gonna be great. It's
gonna look great. It's gonna look great.
Speaker 4 (52:49):
There's so many like crane shots, such a vision lockers.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
Yes, yes, you get it, you get it. We just knew.
We were like, oh, it's no fun, We're going to
be here for a while.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
I'm sure.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
We loved him though. We loved him really so wonderful,
sweet sweet man.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
We also we call him the Fawns on our podcast.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
I don't know if he likes, but we did it anyway.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
He had a lot of we had a lot of
episodes of his and he just keeps coming back.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
But it's like, I don't know why he likes us,
but here we are.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
So talented, so talented. Well, thank you guys, so so much,
and it's so nice to meet you, and please come
back again and we'll we'll see you soon, and please
go listen to Recovering Gleeks and there's lots and lots
of Glee.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Oh yeah, lots of great things to listen to.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
Coming coming up, like a whole new fleu of fans
and listeners.
Speaker 4 (53:55):
Yeah yeah, Like are the Gleeks listening watching Buffy because
they should? Well have you, Jenna, Oh my gosh, it's
on Hulu it's a really good job.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
Really, this is so not our place.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
But you have to.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
I know Sarah and so I, oh my god, I
haven't you know her like that? Yeah, but I don't know.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
You have so many secrets, you know, so many.
Speaker 4 (54:28):
People to hear who you know.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
I still can't get over the episode where you just
like casually talked about being Lady Gaga her like playing
her new.
Speaker 4 (54:39):
Music for you think about it all the time.
Speaker 2 (54:44):
I speaking of which, this just came up in another
conversation and Jenna I had a flashback of I could
have said this in the episode. Here we go again
in the circular. I'm like, I don't know, but us
standing in the living room and like you being like
I don't know what to do, not letting me out
of the show. What do I What do I tell Steph?
I'm like, Steph, what do I tell her? Because like
(55:08):
she's texting me and like I can't Ryan's not They're
not gonna let me do it. And I'm like, Jenna,
there has to be away, like you have to and
we were like I was sitting in the living room
and you pay it back and coming up the stairs.
They're not letting me do it You're so mad, and
we're like, get Ryan, get Gaga to call Ryan.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
That's what it was.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
And you said you told her, You're like, I think
if you call Ryan then she's gonna then he's gonna
like he did and half within the hour.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
It's a casual Gaga.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Yeah. It was. So it was like purely like gay
friends sitting there being like, you know, you have to
figure it out. Figured it out.
Speaker 1 (55:51):
She's the best.
Speaker 2 (55:52):
Because I also was like, call Gaga, make it out.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
I know, I know, but honestly, she was just fast.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
She went away week into Atlanta and came back to like,
so Steph and I'm like, stop.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
That is I'm sure you didn't mean it this way,
but that's such a power move her not only by
her government name, but a nickname of her government name.
Speaker 4 (56:13):
Yes, honestly, the other day when she was on the
lie detector thing and she said, oh, I love the actors,
only I knew she was talking about Jenna.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Yeah. Same, I was like, she's thinking about Jenna.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
Jenna, like, are you a gleek? She's like, what's the gleek?
And then she's like, oh, you would see it. She's like,
I'm going to get ream. She's like, this is this
is LGBTQ, Like I am there. I guess I have
to know what this is. No, No, I know, I
know them. I like them.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Do you remember when we first met her at MTV
and it was like early it was Bad Romance was
about to.
Speaker 1 (56:51):
Come out, Yeah, bad Romance.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
We walked past her and she was in her full
freak and she just hello, cast of Glee.
Speaker 1 (57:02):
She was like in her tour weird on our music tour,
that's right.
Speaker 2 (57:07):

and they really know more about Glee than we do.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
So yeah, and they think deeply about it. Yes, they
talked about it a lot.
