Speaker 1 (00:01):
And that's what you really missed with Jenna.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
So we have Chantal and Chantal.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
We were informed became a later gleek, so she was
like a late bloomer gleek.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
She found it later, which I'm like interested to hear.
Why how you know what that was like?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Because it's also pre TikTok. Yeah it wasn't. She was
right in between where I don't know if people were
really looking for it.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
But then she watched the show ten times, so I
need to ask her. I need to have a lot
of questions here. Okay, Chantal, Hi, how are you?
Speaker 4 (00:45):
I'm good?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
How are you great? Is this weird? Is this crazy?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
First of all, love your shirt. Thank you, It's so good.
So the rumor is, first of all, yes, thank you
so much for joining us. It's very nice to meet you.
You fall into this category of people we haven't gotten
a chance to really speak to yet. There are people
who found the show when it was originally on. Yeah,
and then there were all these people sort of during
(01:17):
early pandemic days who found the show off of TikTok.
You found it? Correct me if I'm wrong? Right in between? Yes, well,
I don't know how many people were really looking for
it and you have since watched it ten times yeah
and counting.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Wow, Okay, how did you find it? And when did
you find it?
Speaker 4 (01:39):
I was on Netflix one day and it was around
the time that I was on Netflix for that short
period of time, and I was just like searching for
something to watch and I came across it and I
had never heard of it before, but I like musicals,
and so I was like, let me try.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
This outd Wow, that you were able to like miss
the whole thing like you hadn't heard about it at all.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
That's amazing. Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
So when you got into it, and I imagine like
you watch a couple episodes like, oh my god, if
you like musicals, like where has this been?
Speaker 4 (02:16):
How do I not? Like?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
What was your reaction to that?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
I watched the first episode and I was like, oh
my goodness, this is amazing. How did I not know
about this?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
What was it? What was it about the show that
really like drew you to it?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
I think the music mostly because it wasn't just like
random songs. It was songs that you've heard before. It
just had like a different take on it. And I
think also because the characters reminded me of myself when
I was in high school, like Kirky, not very popular
and just loved the sing.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah who's your favorite?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Oh yeah, between Amber and Santana?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Yeah yeah, fair enough. What were you gonna say, Kevin.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I was gonna I just that it was interesting because
the show was actually on when you were in high school.
I think, Yes, I was in my senior year. Yeah,
and so we were we're like not too far off
in ages because I had graduated high school like two
years before. And so I do love like the idea
(03:29):
that you found it when you had been living, you know,
an adult life and then looking back at your high
school years sort of through the show. Have you ever
worked in music or musical theater or anything like that,
or you're just like a fan of musicals.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
No, I was in like the basic choir, not show choir,
just like the basic one. I was always too shy
to do like show choir or musical theater. So I
kind of regret that.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
No, I get it. I was I also, I was
in middle school. I was in like the basic very choir. Yeah,
I was so shy. I was like, I can't do
that yeah, no, you guys have fun. You can't commit
to that, right.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
No, now you you you've watched the show quite a
bit all the way through. Yes, do you find that
you discover new things every time you watch it?
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yes? Mostly like new songs that I probably overlooked the
first time. But now I'm like, oh, I like this,
let me add it to my playlist.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Okay, now I hear you have a really good leaved playlist.
What's on this what's on this playlist?
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Or like, what's the top listen to songs on this playlist?
Speaker 4 (04:46):
I have so many songs on this playlist. I just
put it on shuffle and say.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Yeah, now are they mostly Santana and Mercedes songs? No,
it's everyone okay, fair enough, fair enough okay? And and
and we we talked about hot takes and unhinged episodes
and unhinged storylines on our show. A lot is there,
Like do you have a favorite or most hated unhinged
(05:16):
storyline that really.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Pings the heart strings?
Speaker 4 (05:25):
I think one of them is like the whole Tots
situation with Amber Mercedes. It is like, yes, that that
was not needed.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
It's a little crazy. It's you did though, get Kevin
and I dressed up as dessert item because of it.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
So it would have been fine with one time. You know,
if it was one time, I can be like, okay,
but how many times do they keep referencing to right it? No,
Mercedes is more than tots. Yes, absolutely, when you've been
watching Okay, I feel like we're the first ones we've
(06:05):
talked to us watched the show this much, So forgive
us for bringing it up this much. But because we're
you know, getting into the later seasons for the first time,
and Jim has never seen any of it. Yeah, when
as you've been watching it, do you have different storylines
that you know, when I think of the show, I
genuinely think of or generally think of, you know, seasons
(06:26):
one and two a lot, because that's what has stuck
with me the most. But like with songs, like you said,
when you keep watching it, are there different storylines now
that you look forward to seeing that you know, maybe
in the beginning, like the songs you weren't so into.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Yeah, so a lot of the songs that I really
like are in season three, and I think that's because
you guys were split up between the Trouble Tones in
New Direction.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
So good.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
But also I do like a lot of the songs
in season six as well.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, what is there anything you should that we should
look forward to or look out for in season six
that you want us to pay attention to or is
it just the music because yeah, we don't remember anything.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
I mean I've never seen it. Yeah, so I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
But people do keep talking about the music, and we
get some really good singers, like there's some new like
some of those new kids can sing.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Do you have a favorite song from season six?
Speaker 4 (07:40):
I do? It's I think it was like an original song.
Oh no, that I think Darren wrote.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Oh yeah, yeah, yes, kay, got it?
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Got it. I also I am baking out everybody. Hell
you're talking about? Yes? So our producer told us you
work as a nannie and I've worked with kids for
a really long time.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Do you ever play Glee music for them?
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Absolutely? How does that go? What is the response?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Like? Oh? They love it? They sing along, especially the
youngest one. He's the one that I've had the longest,
and so he knows pretty much all the songs.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
You've raised him with Glee. You're like, you're going to
get to.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Know this like one day you'll be able to watch it.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
That's so cute.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah, that is really cute. Are there show?
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Are there episodes that you skip over that you're like,
I don't need to see this anymore.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
It's okay. If there are, I would definitely skip.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
I don't think I ever skipped an episode, but I do,
like just not pay attention to it. But one of
the episodes that I'm not really to the fellos, I
didn't really like, I.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Get it, Yeah, we're with you.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, it just feels different, like yeah, it's a different vibe,
isn't it.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, wait, I want to see my people,
like we just got to do these people, these other
people exactly, there are these grown men.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Which cover is there? Is there a cover that you
think is better than the original?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (09:38):
I would say my favorite song out of the whole
series is we Are Young, and I think it's better
than the original.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (09:49):
God yeah interesting?
Speaker 4 (09:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Okay? Did you had you heard that song first? Did
you hear the Glee version first? Did you do here?
Speaker 4 (10:00):
I did hear the version first?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Okay, okay, And then you listen to fun and you're like,
it's good, but it's not as good.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
See, I love this because you're coming into the show
knowing nothing about the show and like that song was
huge and you missed it.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
I did.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Like I feel like you're coming into this like the
most unbiased, non judgmental, like clean, this is great.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Yeah, oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Yeah, we ask everybody, what is the feeling that Glee
leaves you with.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
Joy? Every time I watch it, every time I talk
about it, every time I listen to the music.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Oh do you recruit people to watch the show now
that you were.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Like you got to watch the show?
Speaker 4 (10:53):
I try to.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Well, we're so grateful that you've watched it, and you
keep us alive and you keep the legacy alive. And
we're so appreciative of you taking the time to chat
with us and to continue to support us.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
We really really appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Keep spreading that music to those kids.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Love you guys, Thank you, Thank you so so much
for taking the time to talk to us.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
So nice to meet you.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
You too.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
My face smiling you have I know people can't see
you have the best smile and have been so happy.
It was so nice to just talk to you all
the time. That's a good quality it is. You know,
I don't get like that all the time.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Okay, thank you so much, thank.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
You so much, thank you, bye bye. What a ray
of sunshine. So cute, Oh my god, so nice. Thank
you so much for Cheel.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
She's a genuine very sweetly fan. Who Yeah, really great.
Everybody's so great. It's so interesting people finding it in
different times in their life and people and what it
does for them and what resonated with them. It's just
so much fun to connect with everybody and to hear
(12:25):
from all of you guys who just you know, keep us,
keep us going.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
So thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
I also I love hearing everybody's experience with how they
interact with the show and how they force other people
to interact with the show. And I think, you know,
it's a big commitment to get somebody to watch something
like an hour long TV show that's six seasons. It's daunting.
But you have the music and you can put on
a three minute song.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
For anybody, right, Okay, I can get on board with this, yes.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
And so there it's a gate it's a gateway drug.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Just keep weight drug.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
