Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello friends, and welcome to bedtime Stories with mister Jim. Oh.
I was just getting ready for bed, are you as well?
Oh good, I hope you brushed your teeth and found
all of your comfy things like pillows and blankets and stuffies.

(00:27):
Oh yes, oh good. Well, as long as you have
all those things ready, then it's time for our story. First,
we must close our eyes so that we can travel
to an imaginary world. Phoenix and Nova loved the moon.

(00:56):
Every night they would look out their windows to get
a glimpse of it before drifting off to sleep. Phoenix
would call up to the sky good night, Moon, and
Nova would tell it sweet dreams, and off they'd go
to sleep. They loved how big and bright and round

(01:17):
the moon was. But one night, Phoenix looked out the
window and found the moon was not the way it
should be. Nova, Nova, look at the moon. Something's wrong.
Phoenix was at the window, waving his hands for his
sister's attention. She darted to the window next to her

(01:40):
brother and looked up in the sky. Sure enough, the
moon wasn't itself. No bright, round circle greeted them when
she looked up. Instead, only a sliver of the moon
remained in the sky. It looked like a bit banana

(02:01):
up there. Nova gasped, Oh, no, the moon. What's wrong.
Phoenix shrugged and said, it looks like it's going to disappear.
The two kids put their hands on their faces in shock.
The moon gone. What were they going to do? Both

(02:23):
Phoenix and Nova knew that all good dreams came from
the moon. If the moon disappeared, would they ever have
happy dreams again. They had to find out what was
happening and how the broken moon was affecting their happy dreams.
We have to go to bed, Off to dreamland now,

(02:47):
Nova shouted to Phoenix. She looked him in the eye
before heading to bed and said, I'll see you in dreamland.
Phoenix nodded and went to his room too. He lied
down bed, but it was hard to get to dreamland
without the bright, round moon to guide him. He closed

(03:08):
his eyes and imagine the moon was all better, back
to normal, round and full and shining. Eventually he drifted
off to sleep. When Phoenix arrived at Dreamland, Nova had
been waiting there for him. Finally, you're here. I've been

(03:29):
waiting forever. The broken moon is affecting dreamland. Look, Nova
motioned around her as Phoenix noticed for the first time
how dreary it was all around him. Dreamland was dark,
much darker than normal. Without the light from the bright moon,

(03:50):
there was nothing to brighten up the place. It looked
like everyone in Dreamland needed their moods made happy. Phoenix
saw mopi manatees, sulky snakes, and glum guinea pigs. How
everyone is so sad here. It's making me sad. Do

(04:11):
you think it is making all the kids have sad
dreams too, Phoenix asked Nova. Nova nodded, looking pretty down herself.
It has to be the moon affects Dreamland for everyone,
not just us. Nova was holding a box in her
hands and lifted it up for Phoenix to see. But

(04:34):
it's okay, we can fix it. I grabbed Dad's tools
on my way here, so we can head to the
rocket ship and go fix the moon. Great, thinking Nova,
let's go. Phoenix and Nova hurried over to the marina.
They called out to the manatees. Manatees, we need a

(04:55):
ride to our rocket ship. Please a mope manatee man
it's way over to them, sniffling it said, I don't know,
I feel so dreary I just want to nap. Phoenix
patted the manate on its big head. It will be okay.
We are going to fix the moon. Then you can

(05:17):
be happy again. Then there's no time to waste. Hop on,
I will bring you right over. Phoenix and Nova hopped
on the manatee's back and headed out to sea. The
usual crystal blue water was looking gray and dull. There
were no shimmering waves, no bright sea birds. Everything looked

(05:42):
still and empty as they made their way to their
rocket ship. The palm trees on the island where they
parked their rocket ship were the first thing they saw.
The next was how dark it was. They could hardly
see the shore. As the manatee approached the beach to
drop them off, a little light please, Nova called out

(06:05):
for help, hoping the fireflies weren't too sad to come
light their way. Luckily, a few lightning bugs appeared right away,
fluttering along the pathway to the ship like little lanterns.
Nova and Phoenix climbed up into their rocket ship and
ready themselves for takeoff. Three two one blast off, they

(06:32):
soared into space at the moon. Nova and Phoenix floated
out into space and took a good look huh, it
looks like someone took a bite out of it, said Nova,
who saw a big chunk missing. Phoenix floated around to
the other side of the moon. That's because someone did.

(06:54):
He was face to face with a space alien chewing
the missing chunk of the moon. Hey, shouted, Phoenix, put
that back, spit it out. Surprisingly, the alien listened, you
can have it. This cookie tastes terrible. It's hard as

(07:14):
a rack. Nova floated over. That's because it's a moon,
not a cookie. And now it's broken. Oh no, let
me help fix it, said the alien. So Phoenix, Nova
and the space alien lue the moon back into place.

(07:35):
Why let's nail it in place to make it sure
it stays. Nova passed out. Hammers clang, bang bang. What's
all that racket? Called a voice from inside the moon.
Out of one of the moon's craters squeezed a big

(07:55):
blue worm. What are you doing to my moon? Oh,
we're just trying to fix it. The space alien thought
it was a cookie. The worm sighed. This happens once
a month. Everyone always thinks it's a cookie or made
of cheese. I don't know where they come up with

(08:16):
these things. I was just inside trying to sleep. I'm
sorry we woke you, said Phoenix. We made the moon
round again, but it's still not bright. Do you know why?
The worm quickly flicked a bright blue light. You're a glowworm,

(08:38):
Phoenix shouted. That's why the moon isn't bright. Why aren't
you glowing, he asked. The glowworm responded, well, if you
must know, I'm feeling sad. No one comes to visit
the glowworm in the moon. Ay, just come by and
try to eat it and then leave. I just don't
feel like glowing lately. I wish I had some friends.

(09:02):
Nova piped up. Will be your friends, really you mean it?
Of course, we will come here on our rocket ship
to visit and help you fix the moon whenever another
hungry alien comes along. Nova looked at the space alien,
who looked a little embarrassed. The glowworm was so happy

(09:26):
to have friends he shined even brighter than before. Please
come back any time, All right now, I have a
job to do, and the glowworm squeezed back into the crater,
making the moon glow bright again once more. With the
moon fixed and glowing again, Dreamland returned to being happy

(09:49):
and colorful. Everyone was back to having good, happy dreams,
and Nova and Phoenix's mission were complete. They couldn't wait
to take their rocket ship back to go visit their
new Britton who lived in the Moon. The end
