Speaker 1 (00:01):
Call It what It Is with Jessica Capshaw and Camille Luddington,
an iHeartRadio podcast. Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Call It crew,
and welcome to another episode of Short and Sweet, and

(00:23):
this one is White Lotus.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
The White Lotus Edition. Okay, so spoiler alerts because we're
going to talk about it.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
My first observation, I'm gonna say this right off the bat,
why are you Why is anyone staying at the White
Lotus anymore? There's been a murder or a death at
like three locations at this point. If I'm clicking, I mean,
clearly that's going to make headline news. That's not a
location that I want a vacation at anymore.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
No, No, because it seems like some bad things might
have in there. There's always a body floating. But I'm
happy to sign up for it. Note thing that comes
to mind. I love having to wait a week. I
love not being I love not binging. Yes, I really

(01:11):
got back in touch with the side of me. That
just the expectation. I thought about it during the week.
When is what day is it? When do I get
to see the next episode? And I really love that.
I love that part of watching television. I liked I
liked waiting for it, and I watched the finale on
the night. I was about thirty minutes behind, but I
watched it on the night and I was so excited,

(01:33):
like got myself all set up. It was fantastic. Loved it,
loved it.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Did you watch it?

Speaker 1 (01:37):
And I've watched it on the night, I had a
little bet, you know, I want to talk about what
you just speak on what you just said. I do
think that it being weak to week and not something
you can binge in like three nights makes for a
water cooler.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Moment which never happens anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Because I was with a group of people and we're
all making bets on like yes on theater, right, and
and someone was convinced that the monkeys were gonna kill everybody,
and oh yeah that a lot of people actually thought
the monkeys might be involved because they were through the
whole you know, the season, there was a monkey here
and there. But I think it really it was like, oh,
this is what old school TV used to be, right,

(02:17):
and now we don't really get that moment anymore.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Definitely watched it.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
We're going to talk again spoiler spoilers sports, because we're
going to talk about all things.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Okay, Walton Goggins, I knew that that was his dad.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
You did, I remember, I know you did. And I
heard the theory, and once I heard the theory, I
agreed with it. So I didn't come up with it,
but I but then I was like, yep, for sure.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I didn't know before.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
But when he had the meeting with the dad, there
was something about the conversation where I was like, oh, dude,
that his dad.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Well, and I would like to point out that it
was also so for me uneventful, like we had been
hearing about the dad for so long, and then he
finally gets to him, and I thought, well, if this
is yeah, this can't be it is what I thought.
I thought, this can't be it. And so when it
was done, I was like, oh, he's definitely his dad,
because this can't be it. This is payoff. There's another

(03:05):
piece to this.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Yes, I'm confused why that character would have that run
in with that guy. They know he's staying at the
White Lotus and he goes back to the White Lotus
like chilling.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
He was like, dude, now was the time to get out?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Right?

Speaker 3 (03:23):
I thought that, like grab your girl and run I know.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, Well, sometimes everyone you just have to suspend of
reasons you can, because I did. I did think that
as well. I love that he when he leaves Sam
Rockwell in the hotel completely having splintered his entire recovery
and get.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
To the elevator and it's like piece the role that
Sam Rockwell did down the hallway that was like completely unnecessary.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And then the jump on the chair was so brilliant.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
And I read this, I read this article that they
were originally they'd originally cast somebody else and he was
sort of last minute casting because it didn't work out,
and uh, he was brilliant.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
He's so good at this scene Steeler.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I mean he is. I mean that monologue where he's
talking about all the things. I was actually just really
trying to fall. I was like, where is this going?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I was like, wait, what you want to be?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Once he's talked about what he wanted to be, I
was like, wow at a left field.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Loved it.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, Okay, So I was sad obviously that Amy.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Lou Amy Lou would She was spectacular the whole eight episodes.
I mean everyone was great. She everyone was great. She
was for something I don't know, maybe it was because
I didn't I wasn't a familiar with her, but she
was such a standout to me.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah, she's loved her character.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I loved her just you know what. I love a
character that's just undeniably optimistic and irrationally so on some level, clearly,
but she didn't seem delusional. She played it in a
way that there was some ground beneath her feet, Like
I didn't feel like she was up, you know, up
in the clouds. There was something about her that I

(05:12):
fully believed.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
As soon as that gunfight started, though, I was like, oh,
she's gone well.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
And she also was talking about how bad things coming.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Three freeze, I know, the guard by the Gate.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, guy talk, guy talk.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
First of all, you were rarely by the gate. Let's
talk about that, like the worst at your job, and
when it really came down to it, you why aren't
you outing the dudes that we were there.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Let's talk about the girlfriends.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
The girlfriends. I auditioned for the for one of those parts.
I auditioned for Leslie Bibbs's part, and I remember getting
the audition and being like, I mean, I'm just such
a huge fan of the show, so I was gitty
with excitement, and it's always so fun to, you know,
put together an audition and see where it goes and
then see it come to fruition because what's unbelievably remarkable

(06:19):
and wild about the casting processes and I guess not shocking.
We're all very different, we all have a very different
take on it. So watching Leslie's I was like, oh
my god, I was so in and I thought she
was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
What do you think about the end, because you know what,
I'm gonna be honest, I really wanted one of them
to say.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Go yourself. I'm not sure how I feel about them
all being convey a a little bit.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah, yeah, yeah by the end of it. I mean
I read something that Mike White actually went to one
of these places and sort of, by the way, now
he's completely been outed, because if you're on vacation and
you see Mike White, then you're going to be well, no,
you're gonna be in the show. Because he was listening, well,
this is what I mean, this is what this little

(07:06):
bit that I read or I don't know saw, or
maybe it was one of them in the interview saying
that they that he had been listening to this group
of women that were on vacation and and and saying
that you know, whenever they they'd all be, you know,
having fun and talking, and then this is one of
them would leave. The other two would just like to
start talking about the one that left.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Yes, talking, here's I'm gonna tell you what I wanted.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, what did you mean all that?

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I'm like, now that I've watched the finale, I wanted
them to be like, fuck, you have a massive falling
out at dinner right or wherever they were at, and
they're walking together and he pulls them in for the
picture and they're like reluctantly out together.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
And then with the.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Gun fight, Yeah, you see them all together because they
they're like they're trauma, they're trauma bonded, and they realize
what matters in life right to each other.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
And so that's maybe the moment where.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
It's like, actually we love each other, Like this is
all bullshit, right, But I could watch those three.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
I wanted more, yeah, more, Yeah, well we got.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
I mean listen, Carrie Koons, I remember felt the fear
I got. I took that personally, that scene when she
jumps out the window. Oh, my god. Then she's walking
by herself in Tylan and by herself walking down the
street in the middle of the night. I mean walking
down the street in the middle of the night anywhere anywhere. Yeah,
but in a country you don't live, where you don't

(08:29):
speak the language, and you don't know the program, I
would be a different level of scared. Okay, there's a
part of the show last week before this when I
was like literally under a blanket.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
I couldn't even watch.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
And it was after she had sex with that dude
and then he was like hitting her up for money,
and I was just horrible, perfect.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, yeah, she's listening and I was like.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
No, carry you, no, get out, get out.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I was worried for her. I was worried for I
was actually when that girlfriend came at the door, I
was like thank god, no true, thank god.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
I was like get out of here, to get out
of there quick.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I also felt I mean it was obviously in all
the seasons, but for some reason this season the music.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Really made me very tense. The music with it. Oh yeah,
very tense. You know what I'm talking. Yeah, yeah, didn't
anytime that happened. Full Body Shells.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yeah, well, no, clenching is more me. I was like
very clenched, waiting for something bad was going to happen.
I definitely also because of what happened, you know, earlier.
I was a little bit worried about Lachlann trying to
kiss his sister.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Lockland because he's a people pleaser. It's like, whatever you want,
he's going to do.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Actually, I my favorite scene of the finale, Carrie.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Kon's speech was I didn't make me cry. Actually that
was incredible.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
But my he was seen the whole finale was when
Piper realizes that the food's not organic. There and and
then and then park A Posey's smiling face every time
they cut to her, and she was like just getting
more and more joy and like it a little smug right,
like she knew it.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I loved it so much. I didn't want any of
them to die.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
No, I know I didn't either. I didn't either.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Did you guess the fruit, the forbidden fruit part, the
poisonous fruit in the smeth.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Well, you're not on TikTok okay, Yeah, I mean you are,
but you're not on it like I'm on it. And
that was out there in the world that that was
going to maybe happen.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Not a spoiler, but like, did they think that Saxon
was going to go down because he was the major
smoothie drinker?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
They thought Saxon was going to go down?

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Poor?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
I mean, I don't feel Lachlan and Saxon, Oh can
we We do need to talk about that scene though,
because that scene where you see them having their threesome
and then I didn't clock it at first.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Matt was like, weird. I didn't either.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I didn't know where you were gonna go with this. I
didn't either.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
I had no idea. He had to rewind it because
he was like, I don't think that's his hand. I
was like, what do you mean it's not his hand?
The scream that I did? Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Well, and you know, Mike White, hats off to you,
because it is hard to do something where nobody saw
that coming. I did not see that coming. It was
like did WHOA did not see it coming?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
No?

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Nope, nope.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Greg needs to die?

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Oh Greg, Gary, Greg, Gary whatever your name is? His
name is Greg? Yeah, I will I think his name
is Greg, but he said he.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Said, Gary, Belinda, I love her.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
The money, Yes, she did. No, that's going to catch
up with her. That's not going to go well.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, I'm telling you right.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Now, Greg is gonna and Greg is going to be back.
Here's what I really want, Jessica, here's what I'm gonna manifest.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Okay, I think it's.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
For me and you to check into a white lotus. Okay, yes,
I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
I don't care where it is white lotus Antarctica. Yeah,
the North Pole white lotus.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
We're ready, but not.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Listen wherever Mike White wants it.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
It's true.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Oh I would go back in my bags. Yeah, for sure,
for showing wherever.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, I'll audition. I'll just keep auditioning. That's what I
did for Grace.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
I just kept auditioning for and I'll just pop in.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
I think it's important to say it's it's really important
because you know these things that we watch and as
actors and in this business, it's.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Like you.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Really will, you'll augition as many times as you as
you as they want you to. I mean, I loved
Gray's Anatomy and I was like, I'll audition all the times,
and I took three times, so I'm hoping it'll just
take two for Mike White and the and the White Loatist.
Yeah if it needs you know, well, I'll just keep going.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Like I think that we should come on as sisters. Yes, Mike,
come on, you need you need some sisters.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yeah you do, Yeah you do.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
You haven't seen sisters on the show yet.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Nope, We're gonna come on as sisters. And yeah we're
gonna do some tricky shit.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
I'm gonna kill Greg. There you go, that's what I
would pitch. Okay, I'll take him out. It's time with your.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Krav magoskills that you've honed whatever I needed to do. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Yeah, if we could.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Honestly check into the White Load US, where would dream location?

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Okay, well, I you know the White Loads. This last
season they did a lot of interviews and I clicked
on all the little tidbits to watch them, and they
talked a lot about no one was complaining, but they
were just saying it's isolated. Was tough. Thailand was tough,
I think because the weather and it was buggy and
it was hot and it was a lot. So I
think we'd have to really think about a place where

(13:53):
you know, we're gonna be comfortable. Yeah, it's gonna beautiful
and we can really feel the vacation and piece of it.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
You know what they haven't done. They haven't done a
white lotus like snow situation, like a skillet, a skillet.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
I think.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
I think we check in and it's a little app
pray appray ski whatever. It's called cozy sweaters, yeah, spatters, yeah, yeah,
snow yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Okay, okay, I would do that. I would do a snow.
I would like a Switzerland, I would do I would
do like a Saint Bart's. I do a Caribbean situation. True,
but during the right time of year. Yes, all right,
you know what. I like this for us, I think yeah,
I think since we were just discussing vision boards, I

(14:38):
think we should add this the white lotus.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Are you kidding? I'm ready, Mike, please, I'm ready for you.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Yeah. And we'll see you. We'll see you at check in.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
All right, let's call it the end of the episode.
