Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to Drink Champs, the production of The Black Effect
and I Heart Radio and it's drink Chats, motherfucking podcasts.
A legendary queen's rapper. He's like, that's your boy in

(00:23):
O R. He's a Miami hip hop pioneer, d j
E f N. Together they drinking up with some of
the biggest players in the most professional, unprofessional podcast and
your number one sorts for drunk drink is New year' z.
That's it's time for drink Champs. Drink up? Mother? Would

(00:49):
it good? Be? Hopeully's wu it? See me? This your
boy in r E. What up is dj e f N?
And it's drink Chaps, motherfucker yappioa makes up right now
when we talk about legends and legends, when we're talking
about you know, bar lords, people who tested the time,
who standard the test of the time, people who were

(01:13):
the first kind of drink chance there would be drink
estly if there was no yes, yes, yes, and they
represented it. Uh, they held it down. And we are
that version in podcasts and we salute them, we respect them.

(01:35):
We've been trying to get them for six years, been
trying to get drink and we also were also were
starving for all three too. Was supposed to be Okay,
you got hurt, he said, he saved me. There's some
hospital papers issues. Man, you don't know what the funk

(02:03):
we're talking about. We don't know who the legends. We're
big enough, we don't know who the legends that we're
saluting and saying that we respect them. We idolized them,
and we did, you know, uh, show them. We gotta
show them so much love. In case you don't know
who the funk we talked about, we showed the about
the one, the only the motherfucking did marriage your name

(02:30):
to the Licks at one point, Na, we just shortened it.
We never that wasn't a legal thing, a legal thing,
not album as the Licks one album. Technically we did,
and then people was like, that's the bullshit, so they
we changed it back to that. But it wasn't legally
like Brothers changed their name Smith. It was us trying

(02:52):
some ship that didn't even really work in our favorite
so we just kind of kept moving. The reason we
did that was it was it was a point where
like why we well, like people don't know, like we
we got book for Soul Train one. This ain't the
reason we changed her name, but she added up though.
So we got books for Soul Trained and we went out,
like old Dirty said, we bought nice ship like clothes,
all this ship and everything. Now were trying to trying

(03:16):
to get on the soul tray line. And we got
to the dresser. We got, you know, the longest line
of being front of soul train. Wait, the motherfucker's lit
my old all this ship. We get in the dressing
room about like they you know, telling us ten minutes
and all this ship and everything, and all of a sudden,
this lady knocks on the door and she was like, alcohol,
let me talk to real quickly. We step outside. She said,
Don Corneians didn't know that that we were called the alcoholics.

(03:38):
So he was like, we came put on the TV
clip go home. They like, yeah, I remember remember the
time he played man. You know you see down Cornelis.
You grew up with so training, so you see him
in person. You're like, don my man, remember you went
up to down Cornelius and he was then yeah, but

(04:05):
I'm talking about him because he's died back and that's
where were heard. But things like that, like it started
like we went to the We was on a tour
with Shout Out Job out here too, were going after this,
but yeah, we're on the Bible Belt tour. Yeah we
got we let us perform on the Bible Belt. It
was like new. You know, he has a different name

(04:25):
for that. You called the Chidlen Tour the children Circuit.
That's a different different things. Yeah yeah, but Chider circuit
is is fucking damn sorry term Mississippi. No, the Childer

(04:48):
Circuit is. It's Bees not so be Live. That's o
Bees of the World, right, meaning that's OBEs is not
a bad club. It's not an upscale club, but it's
a club where people come when you own the come off,
when you have an established audience and you know you
can sell this out right. That's what the Chitner Circle is.

(05:09):
It's kind of like the bottom of the bottom. That's
what y'all. That's where they called it. That Like we
totally biggie, Yeah yeah, yeah, we canna yeah, I like that.
Yeah yeah. This is when he was on that party

(05:31):
in bullshit. Oh, this is right after that. This is
what he's doing big I mean puppies on the toy
with him to are you guys in your just the
middle of the I want to say, it's the middle
of the beef. No, this is where where we are
where two albums deep. This is whenever his first album dropped.
So we're about two before the before and he was
starting to pop and he just reached out to us like, yeah,

(05:51):
I'll come on tour with So wait, you're saying you
guys had two albums or what hip hop junkis was
on hip Hop Drunks? Was that? Was it? Second out
on IK? Yeah? But yeah, yeah, I mean, you know,
chilling circus. I hate sometimes but how I want to
say this too, shout out to my humbo Katie King.

(06:13):
The King put you on on Yes, Okay, can we
just scrow a lot of peoples? Can you remember the
story with you about to say? Because people hate when
I got I just want to just establish that real
criep because all right, King t to us on the
East coast, but as a king, we didn't we didn't
travel to the I mean, I just got to speak
for New York and the right. But by way of

(06:33):
the labor King like too short those was like those
was like God to us. Yeah, so a lot of
people say I was from the West Coast. But a
lot of people think that East Coast didn't show love
or didn't give it up to the West. That that's
that's a lie. That's the point I was about to make.
Okay and swift to suck me right now from lying

(06:53):
no please. I think he used to tell us daily
yeah that kat I don't want to stay at say
he's his favorite rapper. Or he told us if you
listen to my album, listen to listen to my album
and then listen to old Key Tas album. He said,
you can't tell what I my STU phone. Yeah, he
said my favorite rapper, like he's like, listen to my voice,

(07:20):
listen to you can definitely hear West Coast influence back
and go back to the Key Teas act, the Food
album and just think, Biggie your head and you're gonna
think that the same person like voice, everything, Katie is
everything that he game a lot of love. Yeah, going
so fast, I'm not damn I want you all to
worry about. I don't really don't say shots shot up

(07:48):
the sign. Yeah, yeah we had Sean. But let let
me ask you Tupac. Yeah, you got you got to
meet the two different you got to meet the three
different version or two. Yeah, one is the digital underground Tupop.
I meant him twice half my guy. I meant with him.
At one time he was walking out of I mean

(08:09):
it was a studio. You never really mad with him
and the House of Blues one o my guy. We
slept five and then the other times it was like
he was drunk and mad about something. Yeah, it was
just like a high. He was walking about the thing.
I'm going to the booth. He walk I was like
causing somebody out and we say the booth, talking about studio,
studio and ship and what studio. I don't remember. It
was like it was it was he was cracking though.

(08:30):
It's like I thought he would recognize me because of
tasks I got out of ship. No one like this
is this is deathropo and everything, and I remember recognize nobody,
but I remember he Johnny J. He he induced me
to the studio, resting peaks and I want to say,
what to do that te fly, but I can't remember.

(08:50):
But anyway, Johnny J playing a beat and there's no
dusties like I love Tupac music and all that ship
because but he was playing a beat and I start
freestyle and the tool and ship like that, and first
of all, there's a whole bunch of niggers I don't know,
so I'm put in, Yeah, no, Johnny is ain't about
john the producer that did all. But I think Tup
had to like the beat that I was rapping onto

(09:11):
something because he came back in the studio while right
past me and he said, Johnny, come he here and
he went into another room and the mike is still on.
You know what I'm saying. I can just hear the
nigger like, who was this mother? How you got people
in my studio? You know what I'm saying. So I
was the wrong time to sit down and kicking with pot.
But with that being said, I wasn't feeling it. It
was a whole bunch of you know what, man, it
wasn't It wasn't good for me to be there at

(09:31):
that time. And Ship, you know what I'm saying that,
So you know I made a skillse the ship I said,
I got used the phone with quick and I bumped
out because it was one of them things like like
kind of like the time in Miami when I was like,
I don't I don't know don't tell. Don't I don't tell.

(09:52):
I don't know. I just know Nori's version. He told
me when it is overseas on tour. Listen, listen, let
me know. I could not let anything happen to you.
Let me just tell you something I know, bottom line,
get into it. Yeah, that you were getting so drunk

(10:13):
and you was beating with a guy that was a manager. No,
it was a guy named Chris Jones. Chris Jones, right,
head man, it's Raoul from Terror Squad. And they came,
I wait, yeah, and you you was disrespecting when you
did not even know. That's not what happening. That's not
what that's not what happened to Okay, Yes, let's go.

(10:36):
I save maybe this one. The drum was out. I
wasn't maybe said like you said, it's something times. So
what youre doing happen? Okay, I thought happen. You was
in the studio session on one end of Hit Factory.
It's actually Circle House. Okay about yeah, my sign to
dr Jake down the hallway at the time, right, so

(10:56):
I'm here visited him. But he had like his mom
and there's something going over then, and ships we had
no you know, I just moved out here and ship
another drunk moved he was living out here. He was
living out here. Bad second, but it was anyway, but
the wonder we were seeing on that blackbird all the

(11:16):
time I wanted to speak today. They just have stories
that were like ship, where was we don't okay? I
thought it was a manager. That's what he said to me.
It's the white guy. Yeah, but I don't know. I
don't think i'll talk to you yet or something like that.
But he said someone nory and I said, oh yeah,
he's done the okay. But he had like a fresh

(11:36):
gass car like a covert, like a corvette, like a
seventy two or something like that. I'm I'm I'm just
like smoke cigarettes then you know what I'm saying, still
do but bad habit. But I remember that the dude said,
y'all do I'll back to the l A. So whatever
you said he told me, I could see. He said,
I haven't seen this, something like old school classic car something.

(11:58):
And I had a cigarette and I sat in the
car with the cigarette and he lost his mind. You
know what I'm saying, get the funk out and all
this ship and with somebody's yelling at you, your first
reaction is yelled back. So we argue fucking that all
down his harllway and said, I was about to go
with the buses the money man this way, and I
didn't really know who was in the studio with him,
you know what I'm saying. So he's yelling and Ship.

(12:21):
I know we annoying everything, but I said, let me
just address it this if he wants, you know, let's
get cracking. And we don't get it cracking. I thought
it was just him, you know what I'm saying. So
he going his wound and ship and I went down there.
I'm like, let me just see what's something everything and
a bust of the rules goons everywhere, and he went
in there like I just think a tripping and said,

(12:41):
so what I walked in it was like cricke what
I'm saying, Like I realized, like that like that comverction
like that, Well, I go, uh uh, I want to
get away or whatever the you know, the time I
had to get the funk up by that there. I
looked at him and he was looking like nigging you
fucked up? But as what some annoying that he was looking,
I'll be like, no, I don't give me said look.

(13:04):
I said, look, I'm gonna go out here. And then
I went down there and I was like, I was like,
I don't know what just happened to say, it's correct
until what you don't know because you came back. And
then the beat start playing and we're sitting there, I'm
doing a record for Chris Joe and you just start
rhyming on the beach, coming to nothing to do. He's like,

(13:33):
but this is my man, So I'm looking right now.
He just called right he called all the tervist card dudes,
and I'm looking like, chill, this is no way this happens. Man.
I'm not I can nothing. I'm gonna die for him tonight.
So but then you left like you said everything you
just said. Maybe that's when you were I know what

(13:55):
I want there. You look at me like you've been
you like of me, liked I said, please, are you okay?
Because I was chill, I'm good nor so th boom.
Let me just let me just take it from there.
The best start coming on, and you're sitting there in
the corner and you're just chilling for sucking. Everyone's started

(14:16):
writing their ship in the US. Starting man, I was,
I was like, I don't drink anymore good stories. That's

(14:39):
why we hear you what you see me cracking, like
this is all we go have that it would be
gone my next I'm saying, but I made a commitment
to myself, my mom, my kids, my people's here. Everybody
says I couldn't do it no more, you know, but
let's let's let's not rush. What what made you? What
made you guys come together as a group and say,

(14:59):
let's abel ourselves alcoholic. That came because because you know
why me and it wasn't like because see, y'all had
to live up to your name. Me and unless you
tell me a story different and dj F we had
me and dj e F lived up to that name.

(15:20):
That's how we got the name. Is that similar to similar,
very very very similar story because we came up under
King t Okaya were originally from Michigan. We're originally from Ohio.
But you know that was that was earlier in the
area group the group of everybody, me, me and me
and at Tasher from from Ohio originally j Ros from

(15:42):
Pecoma in l A. But but I was King ts
dj Um you know, right after his first album drop
and uh so, but separate from that, him and j Row,
That's how I met King T through j Row, Him
and j Row and DJ Pool. They all had a
group together back in the days. So what's the name

(16:05):
of that group? Total Control? Yeah, yeah, just you know,
total control sounds like so. So when j Rod hooked
me up with him, I was originally going on tour
with him, cutting hair at the barber. You know what
I'm saying. He had like you just named like three
jobs you have no more the real reason we hit it? Yeah,

(16:27):
I hit it all. I play. I'm playing my position nil.
I like that. I was ready, you know, I was
ready for I was. I was doing DJ battles and
all that. You know what I'm saying. So I was,
I was battle ready. He's gonna be Eat Swift without
being nice. Yeah yeah, so, um who came first? Eat
Swift or Rob Swift? Probably mean good question should die though,

(16:50):
So whatever, whatever, whatever it is, you gotta tell that
story for the fans. But how he got the job
to DJ for key T Keat already had a DJ yeah,
j he went on with which is the legend, no joke,
you said DJ Pool, I was staying with how they
with him Uncle Bob and everything. But he let's talk

(17:11):
about that when he took the d J jaw let's
go yeah. Yeah. Basically his DJ was DJ Laddin. On
the way back from the show, DJ Laddin gets in
the accident, breaks both of his leg keep um, no show.
DJ j Yeah, he's like one of the best DJ's
out of l A. So, um, he couldn't go on tour.

(17:36):
J Ro was like, you know, e Swift gets busy.
He's like, oh word, So he came up with my house. Yeah,
and he makes beats and so it was like oh
for him. So you know, he came up with my
house and I was I was already practicing for DJ battle. Um,
so I just went to my routine. I mean I
went all out of the albums, wrapped up bells, I
was taking my dds off rock Spatrol, my no M

(17:58):
tenant shoe. I was, I'm like, I'm gonna get this
job showing up. He left out there Boom, You're my DJ.
So that moment on, I just became Keen T DJ.
And then I started playing them beats. He was like,
oh ship and then he took me to DJ Pool
who showed me the ropes on in the studio because
I was I was the bedroom DJ, battle DJ house
party DJ. I was making beats in my headphones. You

(18:20):
know what I'm saying. I would playing with m DJ. Yeah,
but what's that mean? Yeah? Yeah, your girl, you let
him take you somewhere. I'm sorry, I don't know. No
DJ A bedroom DJ is you wake up in your bedroom,

(18:42):
you wake up in the morning, your time tables right there,
you roll out of bed and you get up there
and you start getting getting it in you never hood.
That's something A bad wounding song. Motherfucker's bad. Yeah that
DJ started comment because I mean there's like a real
yeah yeah yeah yeah. So okay, so let's stay focused.

(19:03):
Name alcoholics. How did we get there? Was you guys
drinking old English? Hold on, hold On, hold on something
black memorialized, Yeah, better better together? There you go now,

(19:29):
But the name King TI once again, we were known
for drinking. He don't get it twisted. We were drunk.
Let's be clear, y'all were alcoholics before y'all were called
alcoholics precisely. But King came up with the name. He
did me and me and uh and Um Jr. Was
sitting at King's house. He had an idea to have
a group called Alcoholics. It's gonna be him myself j

(19:49):
Row and we needed another member, which was obviously Tashed.
He was the illest nigger that was around us, like,
but he was in Ohio caught up in some bullshit. Wow.
So I was like, we was like, we gotta get
put Puttashi in the group. And I was like, I
know what's gonna happen when we Puttash in the group?

(20:10):
Why does that say that? What is that for? Why
did you say? It was like we got at the
time he's at the time, he wasn't he got a
strong personality. He was a catastrophe right behind like my
friend tragedy lived up to being a tragedy. But there

(20:33):
was a people. There was no close second. You know
what I'm saying. So boom, that's the alcoholic. You know
what I'm saying. But at that time, we was really
drinking a lot, like we was doing auder. I don't
know if you're familiar with the same eyes commercial right,
we was. We had to contract to act the personal
question what you're doing Jakobson, We were drinking Yago maestro,

(20:53):
but we were getting paid by sat Eyes, you know
what I'm saying. So every month like them too, we
did all of them, was producing the commercial with me.
They didn't either Snoop On doing his alcoholics, so I
was I don't know about during that time for yea. Yeah,
so we had the contract with st Os and we're
doing all them and they would they would pay us
for them. But also every month a fucking semi truck

(21:15):
would pull up to my cribs and just willing tastes.
So that doesn't help for anything, help at all. You're
walking my house and you would just see cases of
forting houses the whole wall. So let me ask you,
is there difference between O E and st Os? Are
they both more liquor? They're both liquor of taste? What
is just trying to do this? Yeah? They were? What

(21:38):
is I just the bottom of the It's definitely definitely
not good for anything. Step of the bottom of the ship.
Usual reason to get like that, the gold one green
one we first started out. I'm sorry, I don't think

(22:01):
about private stock. You know up okay drink, but they
take the getting stout bottles and with drink like a
whole crew with drink half of it down, then report
getting stout ended, and the whole ship with black. We
bught it black the trail like everybody, everybody, everybody black.

(22:23):
We're saying, like ten times on the album, we said
we had this thing where every when we was in
the studio everything, we would drink all the empty bottles
we're throwing in this closet. And by the time our
session was over, that ship that you would open it
over that that by time we finished this album, you
would open that closet door, and I'm talking about the
deep closet. Fucking bottles would just come pouring out, you
know what I'm saying. And we were like, oh ship,

(22:45):
we really alcoholics. But how could you broms. We didn't
write nothing. There was freestyle. How how would you you
know what? That's what That's what people trip off like
n season all difference. But I never wrote to a
beat you had read to the car like you know,

(23:05):
like like sessions where they played the beat you got
eight m cs just the beat go over and I
got short attentions plan. So I've never done it like that.
Always by my lyrics like a cappella and then adapted.
If I say it to the ship, I don't fit.
If I say that, I wouldn't fit, I might have
to take a good line or two out. But everything
I compella everything. Wow, that's crazy. Now at one point,

(23:36):
you guys a couple of round. Now we're gonna go
to the first album. You can go to the first
back questions, we'll go to further and we'll go backwards again.
You want to go the first album, Let's go back

(23:57):
to the first album, like tell us the making and
this is the beginning of Loud. Knew what was gonna be.
No this exhibment, No, no, you guys first us the
first We're not the first Loud Twister was on Loud
before us. And there was this group called Madcap. Remember

(24:20):
remember from the West goes Well, yeah, that's how it's
out of I mean coke. He's doing a big than
got hair at this time. Bus Yeah yeah, yeah, that's
a good time. Yeah. So how does Steve discover you
guys this guy named fade Fabian doving that he uh
took him with our demo and from there it was

(24:42):
like it would kind of move faster after that because um,
we had that we had most of the stuff on
our first album we had in demo phases, see what
I'm saying. But we went back in and touched some
stuff up. But what happened was we had got um
a demo deal back in the day. You remember the
demo to give your little money to go in the

(25:03):
studio and see what you got and money, Yeah, this
is what, this is what A and M Records, And
we went there and you know, they gave us a
little couple of days in the studio and we came
out with like twenty songs and like three days. So
once they're you know, that didn't work out. We had
that demo tape to shop around. So we went to
Loud Records and like played in the make rooms on

(25:28):
that demo. The Dude Fade I remember distinctly too. We
had that demo floating around and Mad Half had a
studio session and Faye was in there and ferry work
was made. That was the first they had a studio
session somewhere, and we went to it and I remember

(25:49):
we played the demo for Faye at the studio and
he was like, Steve Riff got to hear this ship man,
y'all his own one, right, Steve on the west coast
of this time. Yeah, he wasn't on the coast when
he had the officer. We had an office with one cubicle.
Yeah you know what I'm saying. And it evolved from
that tosst Yeah yeah, but I think you had officer
in New York. I don't think not yet. We should

(26:10):
go up there every day thode just like like party
and what years is though when being shot, this is
like the heyday, Like this is the beginning of the
classic like l A Underground era. Yeah, this is like
right right at the custoer where all that like when
he was catching glimpses of underground l A hip hop

(26:33):
and it wasn't like the g funk stuff that was
more mainstream we had, you know, it was groups like
the Black Eyed Peas and stuff coming from the underground
before they had fer Yeah, before all that, like they
was super hip hop has uh far side and all
them was bubbling on the underground. There was the whole
uh good life movement and all that stuff. And then

(26:53):
once you guys got on liquid contact. Once we got on,
we kind of farry. And what happened with us though,
man's when we start doing our live shows. We're just
bringing it all the all the chicks was coming out
to see us. You know what I'm saying, right, because
we're liking that's exactly why life skiing all my life

(27:15):
announcement right, all the all the women started coming out there.
It's like, oh, Ship, we can do this hip hop
with the with the women coming out. He's like yeah,
And it was like Drake is a group said Draken
was her announcement. All announcement later Ship, but yeah, and

(27:37):
we kind of made our own lane, you know what
I'm saying. We wasn't really like doing the whole good
life thing, but you know, we was kind of doing
our own ship. And then then I don't know, man
just took off from there, like yeah, people did y'all think? Because, um,
I mean, y'all could really really help us with this
argument because a lot of people, a lot of people

(27:57):
assume or they think that because the East Coast, or
rather New York at the time, was very essential to
what was going on that New York show Love. I
know that I know that for y'all to be something
totally different, So I don't know that to be a fact.
I know from what I heard you know people, I

(28:19):
love the licks. You know what I'm saying, like things
like that, But I don't know your personal story. At
that time, New York was running the thing. Did you ever?
It's a two part question. One did you havever performing
a tunnel? Yes? And then to know we didn't performed?
But wasn't that I think? Okay, you didn't, did you?
Every Sunday was Sunday? Sunday? Every Sunday. That's the skinnes

(28:44):
skinned on me by that. It is the bath room
with the chicks in it. It's unseex back. Yeah, but
it was. It was like, I don't know, it was
weird to him because weird just go there every Sunday.
But did you did you feel New York all day?
Like like we spent a lot of time in New York,
especially me, like I was mastering and mixing in New York,

(29:07):
and I would, oh man where I was Like I
was everywhere. I was a Sony Studios. I did a
lot of ship at D and D when I was
doing some other stuff with getting to that. Don't mix it, No,
I didn't mix it d D. I don't mean tracking there,
just tractor, I know the other few. Yeah, sorry, but
it was to the point where, like when our music

(29:29):
started getting out there, people didn't really realize just because
it's just based off the sound of the music, that
we was from the West Coast. They thought we was
from New York somewhere. They just couldn't right. They just
couldn't figure out what park, you know, I mean, like
what b A. I'm like, we don't know West Coast.
It's because I was super lyric quart at that time.
We didn't really understand. No, I think it was an
error of it though, that you had Cypers to the

(29:52):
Cypers did their video their first video, so we we
it was different from them, like CERs we said we
we didn't. It wasn't like we assumed. But the first
shot we saw it was in actually our second video,
our second video, because you see my first video from

(30:14):
the Real Estate, which video you're saying for Cyprus with
the first video I ever saw up he was because first, well,
I see killer Man. I just see that. I didn't
see that video music Box was Killing Man and they

(30:35):
was in New York, so there was no way that
first of all. But if you're listening to lyrics, you
know it's not They're not from Blood I did, okay,
and too, I never even knew what the Mexican was. Mexican. Well, well,
I only identified with Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. So if
it wasn't part of the Dominican, if you was Latino period,

(30:57):
I put you in that category. And I'm Latino. So
when I looked at Cypress Hills, I automatically said, well,
I supported to this all. We'll never I did the
fire with them. I never heard that, you know when
they were So you're just not listening to any of
the lyrics, You're just I don't know what he's I've
just ProMED out that. But then we really plus don't

(31:22):
mind our arguments and about this, really really really with
thought some confusion in the mix of us being from
the West Coast. Our second video was the song Liquid
and Only when I'm Drunk. Ralph McDaniels directed that ship,
and we filmed that ship in Brooklyn. Yeah, yeah, that's okay. Wait,

(31:43):
wait really quick, I just want to say something. I
just want to make a statement. I want to know
this hold on the state. This is the thing. This
is the problem that whenever something is lyrical, it has
to automatically be assumed it's New York. And that's the
problem here. That's the problem we're having him, that's the problem.
That's an argument. We always had something. Oh it's gotta
do you see it when you are We're good okay.

(32:06):
And that's the that's the thing that I've always argued
because from Miami, I was always arguing and advocating lyricist
as well. You know, if you're a certain lyrical that
oh no, no, that is East New York Star were
talking to Miami. But what is lyrical over is what
you're talking about head because no people saying people work playing,

(32:27):
they say I'm lyrical all the time. You are to
think about that. I'm just wrapping about beer and party
this ship. But when you put it, yeah, well object,
that's the way you're not just saying my leg I
beg yeah, you know what I'm saying. We're just doing
on my lap, like we gott get pleased, holy ship,

(32:53):
this is a new tax. Like for really it was
years I couldn't get this motherfucker to smoke with a ship.
He couldn't get me to drink beer. And then and
then when he started like smoking weight, I was like,
that's so what was you know, being that we gonna
drink chat the moment where you said, you know what,
I'm gonna slow down on drinking. I mean, like, um,

(33:14):
I don't think it was one moment. I think it's
more like accumulation of a whole bunch of moments. Good anything,
don't let me, but like, um, I just felt like, well,
a big part of it. I met a girl, right
And sometimes you know they say you've got spiritual I mean,
what's called the partner of life, partner of whatever I

(33:36):
think I was called. Uh yeah, So I met this
girl name Michelle and everything. And you know when I
realized that that, um, I was sucking up a lot,
you know what I'm saying. And in fucking up, it's
gonna people that it's gonna be people around you that
tell you, look, you're sucking up. Always gonna be people
that encourage you to funk up more so they look better.
So I realized like a whole like um, Like, first

(33:57):
of all, a party for light. I mean this is realistic,
A party for like two of years straight. You know
what I'm saying, every day non stop? The fifth day
party studio, back to the things. See my kids go
over here and back to the part. You know, every
day I was waking up not serious about ship, you know.
So basically, um, the sweetheart lady, she she basically put
me to the side and said you're better than that,
you know what I'm saying, and she just you know,

(34:20):
start up being my friend and everything. But now I
realized that you need more people like that, you know
what I'm saying, Like I never thought about relationship, but man,
you know, I mean, I don't know the pointy to
and say, you know what we do, but you don't
do that. Okay, put over there. But you know it's
probably some married people in the crowd right here, but
they'll tell you that these are players. Okay, but but anyway,

(34:43):
that's what really did when somebody when somebody from the
outside to love you more than you love yourself and
she would care. Nah, but you know, we literally you
know what I'm saying, it's a girls ship. Shuff shut
up and ship. But I'm trying to figure out what
you've got the key here? Yeah, you got to keep
we got the half smoke chance we're done smoke right, Okay, Okay,

(35:06):
let me know, but I'm just saying that, um like, basically,
like there's people out there that's gonna see this ship
too with a problem, you know what I'm saying. So
if you see this problem in advance, it's a better
thing that then you know, you could die from liver
cancer or something that you but just they like like thinking, um,
like you know I Red. When they came out, they
smoked and they smoked weed, and they let people know
cypres hell, all the groups that you know, that's what

(35:28):
they land. What's the first thing you want to do
when you see them up the backstage at the crowd
over here with it, you want to smoke with them.
So we got signed pretty much a couple of years
after high school. You know what I'm saying. We're turned
twenty one, we've already rapped. You know, we've got the
first album out. We're doing our thing. Everybody we encountered
it was a routine that want to buy you a drink,
drink it with you and take a picture, you know

(35:49):
what I'm saying. So back then, no c the Reds.
Back then, Yeah, the whole ship look like lines out there.
But make a long story, short, short story, long whatever
the um you know, it's just a lot of people

(36:10):
came to me and they pulled me to the side
a lot and they was like, dude, just like you
know that that story to me and you just told
this ship I could have died that night. You know
what I'm saying, Remember how the thing was looking at
But what I mean is if I if I can
tell I don't not people for drinking this ship year
to see do your thing. Listen everybody listening to do

(36:31):
what you want to. But if you see it's a
problem in moderation, everything you gotta do is embrace the problem.
You know what I'm saying. Once you embrace it, then
you fix it. Okay, allcause like Jabe was not here
right now, but all the talking and complaining about it
not gonna breathe here. So we gotta make the best
of the hope we get better soon, you know what
I'm saying. But that's what I did. I said, you
know what, I checked myself to this um. It's like
a program. It's not like a rehab when you go

(36:51):
for you know, you stay there for a month or whatever.
It's like I just made a dedication available. It was
like you specially yeah, you know Vegas, Yeah, flavor out
the thing. It's a lot of you know, it's not

(37:13):
by must have been looking fund up, because everybody say
that to say that, I don't back that. That's what
I mean by niggers. They tell you that. I know
it was challenging you. We was chelling you in the
most drunkest place in the world in Vegas, Vegas because

(37:36):
like you know, how like you know some people and
ship like you you overdo something to stop like the break,
the hap it or something, you know what I mean,
Like some people, Okay, you won't rock bottom. Bro let's
just say that, did you see it was a different
you know, people hit rock bottom, they go broke, they
do this, they no, no, no, but but spiritually you
probably hit rock bas I just I just know better
than that. And just you know, I lost interest in

(37:56):
the music for a minute. It was like it was
a lot of buss hit coming out, and I was thinking,
just like this might not be my land, you know
what I'm saying. So I started doing other stuff and
I didn't realize that I love hip hop so much
like funk what everybody I was doing just come back
to this. So I took a hiatus, you know what
I'm saying. So I really the quarantine and all that ship.
It was me just you know, better than myself. This
is after you guys did lick nuts. This is after
that now now, yeah, that's probably when he came to

(38:18):
the realization, like you know, I'm gonna tell you, yeah, yeah,
Le'm gonna tell you the last time I dropped that
I caught the tail into that I don't even want.
That was the lick nuts of the room. But the alcohol,

(38:42):
I think you was there. But the last time I drunk,
because that's why to do like if you picture like
aldi big gonna stay drinking ship. Like the whole thing
was that I was having. Like I don't regretting none
of that ship. You know I'm saying, tell me, I
do be great. I take it back. I regret certain things,
but I had the best time in my life. Man.
I traveled the world. Absolutely, you still standing. Shot you
came off. I got you know, that ship. But but

(39:06):
what I said was that when you commit yourself to
better yourself, then when you stop, you start seeing all
these beautiful things start to popping at your doorstep. You
know what I'm saying, manage it. But it's my clothes
company on my back, you know, saying, did you tell
some of this is you know? And it's not. He
it's a little little gift for match shot laces in

(39:30):
the front. Nag, that's two heads that that's fine. Drink
there you got. But but you're just the man. I'm
really proud of you, bro like. But but it was

(39:53):
hell um it was hell um um um. It was
a beauty. It was a great feeling to check that
monkey off your back. Because now I got I got
album dedicated. I mean, it still the same party down
tasking every day, but I'm still talking about drinking and
she's like that but not me drinking. But I'm a
professional bartender now and really yeah, I can't get this

(40:19):
a lip. But um, but back to the thing. Um.
I encouraged anybody that knows that they're sucking up, you
know what I'm saying, to address the problem and get
it early, because it took me twelve years addressing damn
that went. Remember about to clip out here and ship
I just had some money and I wouldn't visit it Miami.
I liked it, but I out thee let me get that,
you know what I'm saying. Moved into North Bay Village

(40:40):
over here and ship. So how hard is it right
after you know, you realize you want to be sober
and you're still hanging out with a group called the alcoholics,
because by times not hanging out, you are the group alcoholics.
I mean I've been times where I like, I do,
like I just did seventeen days straight drink. Yeah in
seventeen Yeah, yeah, he's back. You're back to drinking. Yeah,

(41:06):
that's Kanye. You want to come the days. Yeah, I
didn't drink something not a good at interview too, because
I didn't understand Kanye until I saw that interview that
no people said I made him cool again? Thank you
what you did? I just did so. But at times
when I used to want to do that, and I
used to go to a club called so Be Live,
but I used to hang with my friends people that

(41:28):
was drinking, and I couldn't stand these motherfucker's. Yeah I
get that. I would come around these motherfucker's will be drinking.
If it would be there at nine o'clock with seventeen
bottles of water. That's not water in the water from
nine o'clock. That's another thing. By the time we were working, bro,

(41:49):
They'll just say we were not there. At nine o'clock.
We still earlier he was a part of the promotion
earlier guy to the club, and we would be there.
And at one point I had to learn how to
readapt myself exactly. So at first I wish to be uncomfortable,
Like I mean just not I'm playing around when I'm
saying them, But in general, when I would do these
thirty days spreads or whatever and I come around certain people,

(42:13):
I would be uncomfortable. And not only that, I would
judge people. I would like, he is just a little
bit of spin, is just hanging right there. And you
would say this about people. I would say about you too. Man,
you guys I'm saying when I when I would go
through my sobers right. But what I'm trying to say

(42:34):
is I had to learn how to readapt myself. I
had to learn how to say because they're having fun
and I'm not having I'm still having fun. I'm smoking
we I'm dancing to the music, but I'm not having
the type of fun they all because drinking just just
makes you have a little people, it just really just
making So how did you adapt to that and still
be a part of this this group the last time? Yeah, well, okay,

(42:59):
the last time I I rapped on stage drunk, believe
it or not, was that the Loud Records, than I
remember that was my darkest moment because this was it
was like it was like I wasn't ever had in
life did a minute. I didn't ad minute I had.

(43:21):
I had it so bad that when I was standing there,
I want to cry. You know what I'm saying. We
were staying on stage stage because first of all, the
mother was mad at first because the mother's when we
went on, we were a little earlier ship and people
still walking in. So I went into this hit understanding yeah,
because the lights ssted on being put on and I'm
drunk up, but you see this group, you got to

(43:43):
be feeling in your heart, right, And then we went
on first like it was the first Loud so I
think it was the first one, but without in the
first but I don't know who went on. But the
whole thing is, I'm looking for the light man. I'm
doing this. I'm drunking hell and not knowing that I'm
outside looking for the light man. They're like, yo, ta
swiftly started the intro. You own this ship like that.
I remember running to the stage and ship like that,

(44:04):
and I ran on the stage and everything I looked
and when I looked up, I realized were the first group,
and the license on it is barely you know, starting everything.
And I thought in my head, I was like, Nigga,
if you didn't drink, nigga, you'll be headlining this motherfucker.
You know what I'm saying. And it just made me think,
you at the bottom of the opening this motherfucker because
you ain't cut, you know what I'm saying. And I

(44:24):
don't know. I just um. The next day after that,
we went home back to l A and everything, I
just I just I said, that's the last time I
gonna feel like that. You know. I was piste off,
like like a motherfucker. I like, dude, you but if
you look at the show, I'm pretty much standing still
the whole time and everything. It's license on it in
my face and everything. But I was having emotional ship
going through my head while I'm wrapping. You know what

(44:45):
I'm saying. You know why you will always be a
bof alcohol. You will always beat it. But it's because
it's always somebody who tells you to stop. Right when
you stop on your own that means you have I
trying to let gas you or something like that. But
you know I've been in a A. I've been in
an A when I got you have been Yeah, when

(45:06):
I got locked up, you just not knowing that, yeah,
you had locked up. I had two assault I had
a tip order and two assault charges my but I
also had drug charges, so my lawyer told me to
cop out to the drug charges, not knowing when I
got up state, I was copping out to drug charges
saying I'm using the drug. So I I had to

(45:34):
do all that ship. And what I noticed is when
it's always That's why he said rock bottom. If you
noticed that he said, he said, you hit rock That's
what they say most people, and rock bottom is never
you you recognizing it's always somebody saying to you, yo, bro,
you slept in the Army's yea, in the pool of
your own door, right like that? Never like that point

(45:58):
is that I was living this rap life. It wave.
You know. The whole ship was that I have money
and that's what sucked it up kind of you know
what I'm saying, Because I go do two shows a week,
I mean two shows a month and get some cool
bread pay my rent and then the rest of this
party morning, you know what I'm saying. Like, of course

(46:19):
the kids, you know what I'm saying. But the rest
was just you know, like if we want to go
out of town, we go out of town for let's
say we're going for a day or two of I'll
just jump on the plane and God anyway, way, like
it came back when you like two weeks always saying
what I'm saying, just drunking binges of making music and
ship like and nobody stopped me. You know what I'm saying.
Have you ever one of one one of my best

(46:41):
I'm sorry to just bring this up. I gotta ask you, okay,
one of my best drinking partners, one of my worst
drinking partners, because when I realized what we do, it's horrible,
corrupt it too. Yeah yeah, but one day that's hunger

(47:05):
of corrupt for like three or four days and I
realized I never had a moment, so yeah, like I
was just he's still drinking like that. Now he had
to commit me. I think I think because he's on
marriage boot camp and he saw him marriage bout camp.
But I think he's traightened up a little No, he
looks good. I see that. People got in this ear too,
you know, like you. I'm talking about influence on we

(47:27):
need you'all legends. Yeah, put me on to the partial
conversation you feel comfortable with your conversation will corrupt and
about I mean you feel and we home musicition like that.
I just basically I told him that. And really it
was more people that that needed to hear it too,
you know what I'm saying. One like a one on
one per se. But it was a couple of us

(47:48):
that because they trip up that I don't drink them one.
I used to be the used to be the buyer
supplier to drinker. I come here, I walk in. They
know I got it in the car, I got it
over here and this and that, and you know, it
just got to be a lifestyle with have you. If
a person is is a real alcoholic, it's like you
you drink so much on the normal that when you're

(48:08):
not drinking and you don't you know, it's just like
the bas said this ship they want that high and
all this ship it was, it was it was like
so normal to me. I didn't realize how odd I
was active until he would come and tell me something
like you know what I mean or something like that
than any other drug. Because the suppose you addicted to heroin,
and there's places on Earth don't have herod, you could

(48:30):
be adict to the crack places on Earth don't happen.
We just in cocaine. It's place on alcohol accepted where
alcohol is more accepted. And that's the crazier part. That's true.
That's true. And the whole thing is it's like um
like alcoholic ship like that drinking alcohol alcohol. But the

(48:53):
whole thing is that you got to get out your system,
like this is the system because I want to places
this ship where dot bill or something like that. My
hand was taking this, like like what is going on?
Like it's been times, right, I'll go maybe two months
without drinking, but there'll be days I stayed up late
and I wake up with a hangover, but I never
drink right. It's like I'm just that was what that

(49:22):
is withdraw That's the hardest. You know, I don't I
don't hang out late unless I'm drinking. So every time
I'll hang out late and I wouldn't drink right, but
I'll just hang out late a p someone's in town
because it's Miami is a party town. And let's get
you an example. Let's say Nas is in town. Nas
hit me late and he got Club eleven at three
o'clock in the morning. I'm not used to hanging out

(49:43):
three o'clock in the morning. But this is my friend.
He's basically telling me to come hang out with him.
I'll go hang out with him. I'll go chill, I'll roll.
I have this right, I have two or three of
these PILs. I'm smoking. I'm not drinking at all, but
the fact is my my mind, I'm so used to
when I'm out at that be drinking your body environment.
To get me wrong, I'm not actually hung over. I

(50:05):
feel hungover. I'll wake up. I was like, ohh and
I'd be like because I feel like those hours relate
as associate that off for this even serious because it's
still but it's still want to I just want to
say this. It's the harder to people that's really trying

(50:26):
to healthy yourself. You know what I'm saying. You gotta
get the physical part. Like I said, my hand was
shaking and all that ship that means physically unhealthy. So
basically we went to the classes and everything. They ain't
teach me ship that I ain't know, you know what
I'm saying. But once you get like like two or
three weeks or a month and everything where you cleanse
your system and get it out of you and eat
right and drink water and ship like that. Like I

(50:48):
look at it. This ain't ain't no attraction, you know
what I'm saying, Like right right, it's just licking for y'all.
You know what saying. It ain't nothing. But I recommend
people to just go on a straight what you call
fast fast fast little fast fast, you know, and get
around people that ain't going to tice you the funk up,
you know, happy I have to watch versus oh yeah yeah, yeah,

(51:13):
yeah yeah with the licks go. I guess right off
the top people are gonna say how that already got something?
We were talking about this. We want to say how
Glymphis people want? So I think that's a good matchup.
I think something you don't want to spoke Channel live.
I ain't getting got let's get and that's my nose.

(51:42):
But you know who they don't go to love O God,
that's it. Rung off. You can do that keeps That
was hard breath control was was very open right now.
But that's funny y'all say that because I I was
in a studio all the nights. Somebody, somebody but us,

(52:07):
excuse me, I'm sorry. That's a good one. That's I
just feel like it just makes someone something. Man, it's
like too much word, yeah, beat not too much, not enough.
Whoever it is, everybody to find me, like you know
how you gotta be beat it because the hyperoglyphics. That's
a homeboys and everything. But my homewoy caught me a

(52:28):
couple of like do it four days ago and he
said that cats Will kind of disrespected the Licks legacy,
like we weren't we to do first with him something?
The whole by the line I was, I wasn't in
the studio that night. I went to the studio that night,
and I was really working on this whole other song.
But just rustle boys for Cats with the Higher because

(52:50):
it's like, man, that's how the fear the dawn. It's
not after the high. Man. I love them dudes, and
I love that girl life thanking that casual house. But
I'm just some m C ship this year manute and
I heard that, and so for me, to let that
slide yourself or someone told you know, somebody told me,
but I just said, in case it's true, I wrote
a verse. You know what I'm saying. But the whole

(53:16):
thing is, it's just it's just like, can we hear
the verse? You know, respectable, I don't remember that ship.
I got it, but what the meason, It's like this
shout out the Casual with the high row and all
that ship. This is like to beat the best, you
gotta beat mean, be the best, you gotta beat the best.
We've been hearing that ship so many years, just like
I was just wait for like I couldn't think of
nobody else. And you both, y'all are such a pillar

(53:39):
and that's why that's why they don't hate you disrespect
He's feeling better than that. I'm come back and that's it. Ah,
this ain't no blind side ship. I'm just saying. I'm
just saying that's what I heard. And I've heard Casual
Brad we went on tour together and all that stuff
about he can't be touching on the mic and all
this and everything. So you know, I just I just
see a little I just like it. Just what I

(54:02):
made is that it could be high Road the whole
crew against the whole liquid crew. That would be ill will.
I mean, I don't know where we did the liquid
cool thing. There's no disrespect to highways, there's nothing. This
is not a blind side trying to taste, nothing like that.

(54:23):
I've been feeling like that a long time that we
need to get it on, saying that the least little
liquid crew, but the legal and we go back with
the Liquid cool deep, the whole tree, the whole whole
because extensive. I mean it starts with Kington and there's us,

(54:44):
and then there's Exhibit exhibited, there's the far Ride, there's
uh is that that came associated with us A lot
of people A Yeah, Blue Pack, Mad Live like the
native chunk of the West Coast as good, absolutely mad
lid and we discovered and put out on our first album.
You know, um ship it Stylistic Jones. Yeah, we got

(55:08):
a lot. Man, what's your trial quests? You said, what
what's your battles? T Now, No, he's not without fight, dude.
I mean, battles are real battle. But they got they
got they got the I like the music too much
like I would, I wouldn't be a little want the
school like we do firsts. We do first of all highwall.

(55:28):
I welcome that and uh think about me, I'll be
hard Nubian. What's that brand that'd be like you know,
saying the sounds. I think that hygrow when the alcohols
be the best set up right now, you know what
I'm saying. I think and you But I'm just saying
for the fans, Like yeah, that's all anybody for the fans,
you know, But we got some ship. Our catalog is

(55:53):
we said that right, we don't have anybody. I don't
know what I mean. What I meant by that was
accept them too. That's a good one, A good one.
Like we got different crowds though, like like people sleep
on the licks because like we don't like they don't
call us for a lot of like I got song
with Snoop Dads all of them, but they don't really

(56:15):
call us for like like a lot of West Coast ship.
Like we we out of national content. So and we
lease hundreds of thousands of little pockets of alcoholic fans everywhere,
you know what I'm saying. So, like we gotta overseas
and like Japan and all these different things. But our
sounds is different, but I would be falling the battle.
Then we got it. We have a call out, man,
so we you know, because they they know by the

(56:37):
West Coast, we love by the West Coast. I think
they fans our fans, you know. And this is one
more said one boy. I don't say alcoholic CNN. How
about MLP. Oh that's a different one too. That's how
different they love. I think Sonica doesn't make sense. Yeah,

(56:58):
I just think it doesn't really match up what you
think about it. Fab and Jada Kiss makes no sense
in the world. It's just in the sense of hip No,
that does make sense. What doesn't all commercial records and not.
But the way that they rhyme does make sense. There.
That's Rome pattering versus Rome content. You know what, Maybe

(57:22):
MP might act what I'm trying to say, Like, I'm
thinking about the way that the group's rhyme. Yeah, and
actually it does kind of. Yeah. What I'm trying to say, like,
you guys to thinking content, you guys to think in
you guys, coach, I'm just saying in general, you guys
are thinking content. You guys, I'm not thinking that. I'm
thinking pure hip hop, pure hip hop, just one fucking Mike.

(57:45):
I mean, you know, dreams because because and then there
are two Mikes or whoever and the DJ. I'm not
thinking about Scooper scrap. I'm I'm thinking about fucking you know,
the other people that's gonna come out dancing. I'm not
thinking about I Love with Kane Dead with crazy legs.
I'm thinking about that part. Just thinking about bars, party music,
hype music, just going soul for so it might pay

(58:09):
be some fun though. That would be, but that's not
something I ain't never thought about. Makes more sense, Yeah,
because they gott down now that, now that I think
about it, the way that coming back, I'm not come back.
I'm coming back and coming back because I'm thinking. I'm
thinking about the run style, all right, it'd be entertaining.

(58:32):
How about have you guys ever worked with Della no Man?
We were supposed to man right before he got sick. Yeah,
I talked to Della Man. We had so much ship
going on, like and it just it just never happened.
You know. Um, I would have loved to work with
any of course, one of my one of my favorites,
you know, producer wise, but never happened. It's never happened unfortunately. Okay,

(59:04):
now could I go to my ferrail question? You can
actually no, you can't hold upon so Jesus y'all the
first one of the first series signed Aloud, right and
then mob deep? Yeah, how was it relaxed? Buddy? Wait? Wait,
wait a minute, who's the two cool? I said that
saw it before y'all okay, and then after y'all was

(59:28):
small after us. No, I'm just saying that. I'm not
saying that. I'm not saying exactly who was about that? No, no,
no ship it no, no exhibit came because of y'all. Know,
didn't come after you. You can't wait after. But but yeah,
because of y'all picking out our second time, after our
second album, because because album was that it was because

(59:53):
of the alcoholics right there. Yeah, I executive produced his
first two albums and brought him aloud. I won't try
to say the it comes in and would change and
s that in there? How was that environment? It was incredible, Like, yeah,
it was in I feel like there's hip hop and
then there's that culture y'all cultivated with it was though

(01:00:14):
it was a trip he was on that jam, but
that time, that's the second label. That's what I remember
sitting there in meeting and Ship, like the executive meet
with Loud and all this Ship, and they were just
going ahead and with depth jam. You know, I'm saying
that Steve, I don't know if Steve calling Steve calling
the top, but I don't know who the idea was.
But if you notice they signed a red Man, he
signed Eximmy, they signed soon so we signed Alcoholics, Yeah exactly.

(01:00:39):
So if you look at the pattern the Jam, the ship,
we signed this they signed that. You So that was
like a competition thing going on that I don't even
know about it until like after a third album and Ship,
but you know, but so how was that environment? Family man?
We took We took muchang on tour with us. You
know what I'm saying. They were opening for opening. Yeah,
so when we when we got most of the toward
the same time, We're just dropped a little bit before that. Yeah,

(01:01:02):
but we were. But but our single was out this
is nine and nine. We had make room out at
the only when I'm drinking, so um. We we had momentum.
They were new, a new group and Mathew Man, so

(01:01:23):
they had New York on lots, but that we didn't
even realize. Ye, Like before they got side, we heard
I don't know who did they promotional wellen, I go
to New York to to talk to I mean, just
go to New York to do it. I see like
big Punt and woul Tang promotional tag is the most
flooded I ever seen any other. Like everywhere you're talking
to the wo tank w crazy man. What happened was

(01:01:50):
they was they was buzzing in the streets and um,
I was actually in New York at the time and
having a meeting with Steve Rifkin and and he had hair,
he had hair as long as right good and Rizzler
came in like kind of bummer start meeting right me
and Steve, And one by one they just came in

(01:02:13):
there and started rapping like this ship was like like
a movie. Right. So you were there when they demoed
them solves. I was there me. It was just it
was only two people there. It was me and Steve
Riskind And you understand what he's saying. Yeah, I actually
see the documentary. The documentary, No, no, Steve has to
tell the story because they asked you out, asked me out.
I wasn't. I didn't have enough platinum rap continue. But

(01:02:38):
but so they came in there and they just bounced
and Steve looks at me because I was Steve's right
hand man at the time, like everything that had to
do with meetings fucking music, like I was in scott
all right. So they laugh and ship. He's like, what
the fun was that? What just happened? I was sitting
there like, yo, I don't know what fun that was,

(01:02:59):
but you bet I'm let them get off this building
without signing. The motherfucker's right. Next day they had a
record deal and it was all nine of them. It
was all of them. It was it was all I
sept for maybe Goes goes. So are we saying that
East West has something to do with the signing? I
want to, but he said wet. I was like, but

(01:03:20):
not even the whole way now, he said, was right,
I'm not taking crazy. That's how the story goes. And
they was already like on the radar, So you are
taking crety, You're not taking No, I can't take credit
for that. I didn't cut the check, but I say,
but you was there there, said I gave him the

(01:03:41):
co sign. I gave the thumbs up, and so the
West coast help, Yeah, we help. Hey, we was there,
We was there. Yeah, but that happened. That happened several times.
Like I tried to take a few people to Steve
at Uh. Eminem was one of them. Yeah, that one
he he passed on and sut up he passed on Eminem.

(01:04:03):
He didn't sign it. And the same trip Eminem was
out there, I played him and ship like I had
with Paul. That's just to Detroit. Paul was managing. Yeah, yeah,
but but this was early and Paul had brought us
to Detroit to do a show. Paul was throwing shows

(01:04:24):
too at the time, and he was a lawyer. So
we went out there and Paul comes to pick us
up and in his path find whatever it was, and
he takes take us around and he takes us to
the record store where Eminem improofing all of them would
be wrapping all in Detroit. Yeah, and Detroit, and we
met them and this guy he was rapping, and we
got the demo tape, so we started playing it like around.

(01:04:44):
I had a hotel room. Rap life came out and
he brought ming into my hotel room and yeah, like
and when it got in Grey's hands. Um king T
was signed uh to at that time, Um Dre had
just put out fucking Um I forgot yeah, right after

(01:05:10):
the firm didn't do it well, it was it was
West Coast afternoon, it was I think it was it
was after Man. I'm not sure, can you it was
after Man and then um, So that didn't do as
well as they wanted. For Dr Dre did good. I mean,
you know it was dope, but for doctor you know

(01:05:31):
your Dr Dre, your your fucking standards are way up
here and there, your expectations are way up here. So
he didn't reach that threshold. And next next up the
bat was King T, who had who Dr Dre and
King T had been the students probably did like dirty
songs Um and Dr Dre had the decision like once
this once he got ahold the Eminem ship, he was like, uh,

(01:05:54):
it's got yeah, I got that k snippets right. But yeah,
so he rolled the dice in fucking you know, Eminem
took off. But he did let KINGT get his masters,
let him do whatever he wanted with it, and that's
unheard of. So you know sidetrack story, the guy who
created our logo. He's scam. Oh yeah, scam from Miami

(01:06:17):
Liberties from Carol City actually and uh and he was
one of the people that took eminem to the source
and yeah, and it was down with Paul and all
of them guys. Yeah, there's a backstory there. Yeah. So yeah,
you never know, That's what I'm saying. Yeah, you never
know where where did it comes from? Eminem can because
of my hotel room. I was out here for something.

(01:06:37):
What year was rab Black was out about two thousand.
There's in New York I'm thinking with in New York.
Look at me. Everybody thinks we're in New York County. Goddamnit,
goddamnit East. Yeah, yeah, because because that's not drinking. So

(01:07:00):
you gotta hold it that we're doing. Yes, this is
a part of our show. We call it quick Time
or slut. All right. It's a very simple game. One
or the other. Nothing. Get ready. If you pick both,
you drink, all right? If you pick none, has to
pick a drinker though, all right, he has to pick

(01:07:20):
to pick a drink, pick a drink and who drinking green?
Because drink it. Let's go, let's go, all right, I
might be already what what what you got over there?
Because it was not a good No, he's good, No, no, no,
you know chicky Chip's another chair now they got on.

(01:07:52):
There's no more on that. All speaking to versions. You
ain't saying hi about versions. Yeah we did, Okay, we've
seen three. How to give us flowers? How to give
us flowers? That's my one. That's how you get ready,
big god, you can battle with Joe buttons. You just

(01:08:12):
like two hours straight and I'll be sure. Look a
little alight. He's with you. Yeah, I can't hear anybody.
It's called quick tile slows. Want to be iterate the rule. Okay,
you pick one or the other. Just say how keep
getting drunk with us right now? But you're taking off both, Kim,

(01:08:34):
don't kill yourself. Can you take a shot? Okay, so
you're ready going to volunteer. I'm good. I'm a rock
out with yall with culture. We don't want to all
he doing like what bad um? But today all he
do is drunk mad dresses, drunk man dressing dress. The

(01:08:58):
main drinks as Yeah, so buddy, you're ready, I'm ready.
I'm ready. Wu tang or in wa damn drinking in
way like I thought you was gonna say something. No, not,

(01:09:20):
he answered for both of you. I think, okay, I'm
going to what we're going two different questions? Okay, exhibit
or grass cast and trust me rass listening right now.
You don't got to drink, but you could. What's that
general whatever your criteria like? You just you can say

(01:09:42):
both neither or one or the other. If you say both,
are neither? Were drinking? Everybody everybody's drinking. I'll say both. Alright, Hockey,
it's yourself were drinking with you though we drinking? Drink
whatever I thought you was drinking? Rock? Is that watermelon?
Is this watermelon? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, do a little shot?

(01:10:07):
Oh whoa, that's more than a little shot. Just that
for y'all. Listen, this is this is a little shot.
I'm sure what a little shot is. Now, this is
this is a little na you do a lot of No,
I'm not gonna take it off, sip on it. No, no, no,
you gotta take a shot. Take a shot, all right,
I'll take it the whole ship. Oh yeah, ice, yeah yeah,

(01:10:30):
he does like yeah, yeah you know, yeah yeah yeah,
all right. Tears fellas a little that one? Is that
the first question? The second Oh little grass cast used

(01:10:53):
to be King Tsan Gets never told me that. Ras was. Yeah,
that's how I know. Originally, I'm gonna have to ask
how do the women? He knew how to do it right? Man?

(01:11:15):
He was prabatic. He was I couldn't remember when my
fuckers used and jump over that ship college. He was
nice to have the mohawk or the flat back there.
I think he had a low hair there. I think
he had low hair. But he was the illness, like
fucking it. He told you he probably you know, he

(01:11:36):
told you that didn't bring that down million dollar quick.
They could just start dancing your videos like yourn stood
and he said, hell no, that's what he told me.
Had no reason what far side or so submission. I
think so was a mischief. Yeah, I think he's gonna
be biased right now. I don't know. I talked to

(01:12:00):
I talked to Fat Live. IM was like before I signed, okay,
I'm about to say, you can make a Hockckey drink.
You can make hockcame drink. You ready, please please answer please,
You're ready? Yep, Diamond d m or mad Live. Wow,

(01:12:22):
that that that's created one guy. That's a good one
good one. Guy, that's a good one because Diamond D
like if I had to have a best friend in
hip hop ship like for real, like and the Mad
Live obviously, it's like, yeah, that's that's family. That's like
my brother ship. It sounds like a shot to me,

(01:12:50):
both a shot god, that's that's that's yep. Crane Grain
has been so good to drink. Champs just talk drinks
to be good. Backey, drink and shout out to Fussy Moto. Yeah,
I ain't got this shot home now side hot. So

(01:13:14):
you you signed up for this? I got wait fighting
and you just killed versus. I told him, I told
him he killed it all right, Okay, you're ready. Yeah,
this is good. Let's finish this. Lets furinish this. Yees
are you finish your Okay? I drink my ship too.

(01:13:35):
I forgot to toast that's tasty and do this all
that the drunk already we went. Who's the last one?
I thought he picked far ast out Okay, So I
thought your boat picked this ship? King? Oh yeah yeah

(01:13:57):
yeah yeah yeah we're King t or m c A king.
That was my boss. That's another shout. Our first demo
tape that got a sign a loud. M c A

(01:14:17):
was on it with everybody. He was on it. Iced
Tea was eight nine. N c A was on our
demo king I mean that's the that's the top. I'm
bel friends with Chill. That was this after he said
what's the way? Yeah, this is I'm going crazy. No,

(01:14:41):
you're now, You're good, straight out of camp, all odds
on me, straight out of comp I said it quick,
but for a reason, though, I would like to hear
with Benny Bone. But he talked about movies. I'm like

(01:15:03):
a mother the movies. I'm smoke, but he said Bennie
Boom but Minnie straight up and said because of Benny
Bull but Benny Boomed all eyes of me. Okay, he
didn't do straight up. Definitely had to do with the albums,

(01:15:25):
so you can't say you talk album he picked out
of the movie. Yeah, but you something but he said
because of Benny Boom, and he wouldn't been wrong either way. No,
but I'm saying the movie that's the way to play them.
Which that was a better movie too, Which one do
you like better? You prefer? That shouldn't be really even

(01:15:49):
pick straight up comf in the album in my mind
just now. I don't know. I'll say I'll say just
because we was around that, like you said, I'll say,
start out of content. Okay if any boom got nothing
to do with that, you know, sorry, because this guy's
different the phone, you know, yeah, yeah, he alight me

(01:16:15):
the album being that he asked the movie Compton. You
learn that I was really good friends with Pop and
it was never because you were really good friends with Park.
I was really good friends, very very time about the
House of Blue. How are you good friends with just

(01:16:38):
a ship? Like do I mean do rap ship? And
that's how I met him, But me, I don't know.
We just hung out one point in Park's career though.
This is this is like right after I met him,
I met him Digital Ground and he was he was
afro Citic at that try. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I

(01:16:58):
remember he came to New York to film Juice Juice,
he came back to l A and then, like you
know what I'm saying, I had the fun house. I
was living in Hollywood Hills. Everybody in their mom used
to come by my house like I was doing the
big Only people that's rich had a fun house. Yeah,
I had a fun house. I was rich, so I

(01:17:20):
had to fund out next to ever Last. I ever
Last a little bit like it was the party house.
I don't know right, but and I used to tell
him like I was at the time, I wasn't a
big pop fan because of his music. Like to be honest,
like on the digital underground side, just wasn't know what

(01:17:46):
I'm saying. I like that. I like that I was
at the video. I didn't even getting I didn't even
get in the video. Yeahs video. I was just chilling,
you know I was. I wasn't into getting people's videos
like that. I was just behind the scenes shilling like
I was just with the homie like him, he would
have been on I jerked off, you jerk understanding good thing.

(01:18:12):
I wasn't in it. Ship I feel weird if no,
but I get around, I get I want your jokes

(01:18:32):
anything that that the guy that video changed the game
with That video changed the game. That was like Nellie
in with Chip Trail. Oh that that was it. Yeah, yeah,
shout all the money big so I start talking money
be all the time, money to beat my We just
had money to be here, right, had humpy humps um
ya ya yeah, yeah, your hun got sucked up like

(01:18:54):
three shots was over, shout out, he was here, will
stop falling. You know, you know, you know young Hump's
dad is Stanley Clark, right, like the yeah, the base player, Yeah,

(01:19:15):
the big yeah. Yeah, was the Stanley Clark at George
do George Stanley Clark your famous musician. Yeah that's beautiful. Yeah.
Things people don't know guys. Yeah, like people don't know
Al Green is my guyfather. Yeah, All Green is this guy.
I thought it's facts. I was On've seen pictures of

(01:19:36):
him and the old phone nineteen seven about I'll talk
about st Yeah with the nineteen seventy rolls. Royce tash
is sitting in there with his little homemade was a
little homemade soon is that it's not normal? I love
my mom. Just no, I was like, I have no clue. Yeah,

(01:20:00):
Scott finds that happened. Al Green was married to a
lady named Blue Dean. Lu Dean was my mother's best
friend at the time from Colombia. So they had a
child that was the same mate as me. So weally
went on tour. We went on tour with him, my
mother working stuff. Actually Loud got my mother's job. Like
remember back when when Niggas had like fan man and

(01:20:21):
like that, like my mom was Dob was like the
open the mail reading and say something back out. There's
something like that, you know what I like? When Niggs
had but we want to roll in and stated his quip.
And in Memphis, um he brought like a car. Remember
I was a kid, but he bought like a I thought,
this is the most bother ship I ever seen. But
he wanted to be close to his band and ship, right,

(01:20:41):
so he bought a car to sack. He said, you're
gonna stay in the house. You're gonna say in the house.
I'm gonna say at the house my mom, you know,
like a call of saying you know. And I remember
like like looking at and I was like, this is
the dope ship that I was a kid, I like
five years old or stuff like that. And that and
that's that's the God's little bit. You knew him Pride

(01:21:03):
to grits. He knew him, pride to the great. I
got pints in the hospital. They had to go like
he previous, what that's that's the cribit, Mistace. I'll tell
you about the lady threw the grists on. We went
to visit in the hospital. She had a heart attack.
Nobody know that when he checked the rip went to
see our green in the hospital. I'm to look at

(01:21:23):
this part of uself. I'm gonna find something with his phone.
But listen, Yeah, the whole thing is the pictures that
when he got the grist stone on him and ship
it bunts back so bad they had to take skin
grab off his ass. And so when I went to
the hospital, he laying on the dolphin. He laying on
this this sting on guarney, big in the air like
because he got on his back, so as of like ship.

(01:21:48):
But I'm standing there thinking like, let's suspending this. But
he's some footage. My mom went for him. But you
knew this this whole I was you know, I mean
he was he was five. I'm gonna did you tell
me how old. I don't remember how old it was,
but I know that it was rich and he was
like a keen to everybody. You know what I'm saying.

(01:22:09):
And the Sun's name is norm I'm still talking. He
hated this, but his name is His son's nickname was
Poopy as a kid, you know what I'm saying. So
I still called him this is day fifty and I
still call him poopy and he hates the ship. You
know what I'm saying, poop poopy like like po p
I But anyway, he was piloting. Now that's outre his son.
So we were the same mate talking about learning at

(01:22:30):
the same time. So now we but I'm a final liquid. No,
we believe Alga got the funk out of here. I
got to about this base about the tool. His name
is Temy walking after he got PN with Gritz good,
after he got with Okay, hold on, I got a

(01:22:51):
couple of more. Where did I stop at? Oh? I
know what I was stopped that good? I got it?
Okay yo yo, MC like MC light EMC light, I
like her bag EM like yeah my home girl. But
I great like that's why I can't know females fan

(01:23:14):
from short And that's a lot of two rage. It's dope.
It's that paper than beat, That's what it is. Did
you already It's gonna get gril right now. I'm sorry
with you. What's up Biggie or Big Punt? M oh

(01:23:35):
see wow? Because Big Punt he treated me like a brother. Labels.
He brought us on toys, so I gotta give him us.
I was dad, Um, you know what, they never put pain,
They never said pain. They never put punt in the
top five. As much as he should be sup pun

(01:23:56):
for us, Biggie, Biggie, get this flowers. So what I'm saying, So, yeah,
that was crazy man, like being at its funeral and
his wink and all that like was Yeah he was
that the Bronx. Yeah I was there. Yeah that was incredible. Yeah.
I didn't realize how much loved that guy. Man, but

(01:24:16):
like like we used to kick it every day, you
know what I'm saying, Like point about this big matchion
or had a benb type now in the hid Steven
like this big ass like he bought the whole family,
the whole hood, the terrace, bat all that ways go
to every day get funked up and just he was
working on a second album, a Capital Partisman. Yeah, first album.

(01:24:36):
He was living in that hillship because I remember it
was the second. Like one of the memories I remember
it tripped me out is that he like, I want
to visit on I took the field agony up there
and this story has nothing to do with nothing, but
they walked me to the back of the house and
Punk was out by the pool and ship right and

(01:24:57):
he was left on the beach here like this, but
the pump was big, dude, and you remember CDs and
ship stick to like you know what I mean. I
don't know if here just got the pool hand on
shutter on, but he had all these CDs on his
better like yeah, everywhere laying back doing it would be funny.
But he wanted to make a point. He was like task,
he said that something like my album this time he said, um,

(01:25:18):
he said, from now on, he said, I'm gonna write
the hook. I'm gonna have a hook before I started
writing the lyrics, he said, because I always write lyrics
and ramble and I can't think of ship the hook
wise up for now. No, I'm just doing hooks. I'm
gonna have all my hooks before i even started writing
my album. So we were sitting there for like, I
would try to think of hooks for his thick beats
and ship before we drunk. We have a fun he

(01:25:40):
was like, He's like, he told me he wasn't gonna
write no lyrics to no songs until he had all
the hook spurts and everything. And I supped off. Everybody's
been bush and I don't know, but but we started
there was trying to uh poolside, trying to think of
hooks for his ship, and he ain't like the one
I'm I ain't gonna by me. I was just throwing
that in the head. But I saw his birthday was
a couple of days ago. And you pick you picked
pun as well, I'm pink Pump Okay, Tupac or d

(01:26:13):
Max Tupac DM Max. You gotta take a shot. Why
can we gotta get we gotta we can't agree, can't agree? Yeah, yeah,
you have to be a unit. You got gonna roll
with it. I'll roll with it. Come on, we're drinking
with you too, so yeah, yeah, we're drinking with you.

(01:26:33):
Tell I'm gonna stop staying. So I'm gonna stop stop Okay,
But I would like I would like your explanation. Okay,
So why you pick um Tupac or Yeah, I just
have a more personal connection with pop pop and then
you d M Max because I just think that um

(01:26:57):
like you know that they both want a kind Yeah, yeah,
he's not the Mike for me one time and ship
and ILL voted the whole thing here just started disrespectfully.
I think I think we's on footage, but I think
they drunk and song. I don't know what happened, but
we're doing the show at the House and the House
of Blues and California, California in Hollywood. But here he

(01:27:18):
had coming here. I think he had just signed with
Depth jamming something. So they was but on the West
Coast run and before the show, some mother like he
from def jam introduced me and said, this is the
Maxic the next ship and everything. We had this little
back then, we had this little um part of the show.
We bring people from the audience freestyle with us or whatever,
you know what I'm saying. Whatever it was, and I
don't know if I told the niggas like like just chick,

(01:27:40):
we're gonna get you on the freestyle thing or whatever was.
He basically walked up in the middle of the song
and said, I don't know what the fun he was on,
but he was asked me for the mic, I don't
wrapping this way, and he's over my shoulder and everything
he reached about me crack the black. I don't even
know this thing is thought. He had something to say
like if I just see everybody get out. So I
just left the bikes that just started rapping like over

(01:28:00):
want I hit songs and ship. It was so random day.
It was like what then is going on? Type ship?
And he just he was saying all literally he was
saying his own ship. You know, I'm saying security. So
we rushing but everything. But I was like, you don't
because he got me here already introduced me as a
deaf jam artist before that, you know what I'm saying.

(01:28:21):
The other guy introduced me to him and say you know,
and it's it was just so random that we had
to laugh back of that. Afterwards, all we did with
went to the dress was like what the fun was?
You like this and that? And all we did was
just drink the whole time, like and hear his story?
Who told me people yonkers and all this and all that?
And for then he was I thought his friends. I
never saw him again. That's what happened. O d B

(01:28:45):
O big guy. I got some no brighter O dB
nothing to do with lyrics, I said, no, we got
a lot of that of the recipe and big Ells
definitely one of the like forever do that all day,
but you know, we gotta go with our brother. I

(01:29:05):
don't think a lot of some memories, a lot of
Doctor Dre. DJ Quick. Oh I'm gonna go with Dr Dre.
My first, our first couple of albums I was that
I produced. I was using the SP twelve hundred and
the s P twelve hundred that I used on those
records that still have to this day. I stole it

(01:29:28):
from Dr Dre, the whole machine. Okay, I didn't steal it.
He let me borrow it, and I don't never gave
me back. I mean, do you ever asked for it
back but he gave it to you. Yeah, like stealing
with no reparations. I'll take that, yeah, yeah, yeah, but no,

(01:29:49):
those first few albums was on Dr Dre's twelve hund
Dr Dre, you asked me twelve. I don't think he's
pretty sure. He's good. I don't know if he forgotten.
He probably didn't forget, but that's the time he sees me,
He's like, yo, what's up with that? Oh yeah, yeah, okay, yeah,
DJ Quick, I say quick. The reason I say quick,

(01:30:15):
D Quick is bad. I don't know if you call
it the bucket list or whatever, but I've always wanted
to do a song with quick since like the late eighties.
You have it, huh, you have it. Every time we
see each other we party with all right. We can't
get DJ on here, we can't let me. Yeah, we
can't make it happen, but I'll talked to us managers.
I talked to us boys success, no ship, I can

(01:30:37):
assist you, and then ain't happened. So maybe this will
make it happen. Oh yeah, time that got you. It's
drink time. That's too that's too Sian, that's too hey
what about Oh oh yeah, he said you want to
share and split up? All right. I wasn't gonna do this.

(01:31:02):
Beautiful by the way, this is beautiful. Okay, all right,
so we're gonna do think it's dre and quick. Right,
oh yeah, cheers, alright. I love how it turned into.
Did you make it? Block this down? Don't don't do that.
You gotta drink it down. You gotta take it down
the port on the floor. Okay, you're ready menace to

(01:31:31):
society or boys in the hood. Oh boys in the hood.
Bo Okay, I can respect that. Loyalty or respect. That's
a tough one. Okay, respect, I'm gonna respect loyalty. Only

(01:31:58):
last so long with some people. You know what I'm saying,
Like some people are just loyal for expect who do
something stupid. They Yeah, but respect from and I mean
from one bird. Like you know what I'm saying that
you can be a respected person like this guy right here.
It might be like I don't respect you, but then
so what you ratter have a loyal person that don't respecting.
I don't want that at all. But you know, loyalty

(01:32:21):
is so you said, no, we both said respect. I
want to take a shot too. I'm thinking much loyalty
is a motherfucker too, though, manage to think about it.
That's a tough one cause there's the time you gotta
have both for that. Yeah, they mean you know you
know what? Yeah, question, but one really doesn't exist without

(01:32:47):
the other in real life. Like you know, so many
people say, you know, respect and you know, respect sometimes
come with fair right, Like you know a lot of
people like if there's a C, if there's Steve Rick
sugar Night, sometimes you might respect you more than you
respect Steve. Right. Doesn't mean you don't respect Steve. Yeah,

(01:33:11):
we still respects THEE, but I respect You're just scared
of That's what I'm saying. A lot of respect comes
with fit, but don't respect though that's sometimes sometimes it does.
Why I think the two are are separate. To be honest,
it's separate. But but what I say, and sometimes sometimes
that respect element when a person respect all right, cool,
a person could come and bail you out of jail, right,

(01:33:32):
but a person could never shoot back at your the ops.
I don't think that same respect is that respect is
because the person that shoots back with your ops, you
probably have a more respect for you for that person.
But when you get to jail, that person that shooting
at your ops ain't got no money, so it's a
different thing, you know. I feel like, no, I feel you.

(01:33:52):
I feel like I feel like sometimes I think anything
both of them together. That's that's my pick, both of
them together all but I understand that is coexisting in
separate directions, but I prefer them to exist. And but
I feel I feel like, I feel like respect is
for the most part forever, like if you're respected, like,

(01:34:14):
oh's you can do, you can respect you. Though I
feel like sometimes loyalty and then it's not really true loyalty.
That's that's that's what what I'm saying is sometimes loyalty
only goes so far. You know what I'm saying, Like

(01:34:34):
loyalty has has has a price on it, Like I
feel like sometimes you can that that can be swayed.
You know what I'm saying. Respect is solid like concrete.
But stop respecting to what the y'all have just said
that y'all have said at some point you could do
something for me to not respect you. Right, Yeah, So
both and so both of them have an expression day

(01:34:55):
at some point. You know what I'm saying, You've got
something to say. What you like. True loyalty and true respect.
It's about standing in the principle. So when people respect
you and are loyal to you, it's not that they're
loyal to you, the loyal to the principle you stand
in the situation. In any situated principles, when people know

(01:35:17):
that you you stand for a certain thing and they're
in line with that certain thing, it's not about you.
It's about that. I agree. It's loyalty and respect is
hand to hand. Yeah, that's that's what I say. Like,
like me, loyalty, I just fun with any restaurant. I
love the restaurant that foxs with me back. But the respect.

(01:35:40):
It's like when I go to Paris and I go
to Hotel Cold Seas, they treat me like ship. But
I love their food, so I respect. It's like you're
taking that ta like they treat Kim Kardashian like ship.
They just do. You know these French people that I

(01:36:01):
walk into the restaurant, they're like and then you tipped
them like what they over there city though I hated,
I would not go there, like after my first visits there,
I never wanted to go back. I thought they were
We had some good times actually over there, but that's

(01:36:22):
what they would act like. They didn't know English and
they really did like that. It was very I didn't
feel what bla, not at all. As as the more
I traveled there and got to know the people and
know how they were, I came to love it. So
you know, yeah, I love I love it. Oh yeah,

(01:36:43):
but I had cases where I got the elevator with it.
Oh yeah, you know yourself. A lot of places you
spelled crazy crazy one elevator. He didn't my homie down
pick up the at least he locked up come home yea.

(01:37:06):
Now they came home and they got locked up again.
Come on some Monday, we and the elevator and I
just really like kind of make it like out of
to this situation where I'm like kind of good. So
I'm like all right, cool, and I don't want to
fit piss off nobody. We're in the elevator and the
dude walks in the elevator and down least. Just go, man,

(01:37:27):
this motherfucker smells like ship damn. And Love looks and
I go, I go, I go, till oh, yeah, my man,
my friend is just he's just he goes, No, he's right.
I smell like I've been working two days. I didn't
take a shower, damn, and acknowledged by the way I

(01:37:58):
funked up. I said that this is in elevator. The
part that I'm missing is this is we're on a
tour for MTV, and I said Paris. It wasn't Paris,
it was Germany. Okay, So we're in a talk for
MTV and I forget MTVS opposite station. This is like MTVBT.
This is like there Cliverce of BT. That's where we're at.

(01:38:19):
So I'm trying to tell LEAs like chill, he can't
be I don't know if this guy's executive. And I'm
like chill like and the guy literally stopped to said
he's right, And then I'm just looking like make some

(01:38:40):
noise to that I didn't know, So all right, all right,
we're still no quick time? Can I finally ask the question? Yes,
you guys are about no no, no, wait, and I'm

(01:39:05):
humble at us. Ever talk ahead. You guys are out loud,
gotta hit record. Yeah, you guys are doing what makes
you say? I want to work with this neptuls? Okay,

(01:39:25):
I can speak on that first time I even heard
what that I normally heard for real? What's dude? You
you know I wanted that prop, right, I don't get
anything that I'm gonna give it to your hunter set
what but what? It kind of organically happened because, um,

(01:39:50):
we didn't go looking for like we need a hit record, Boom,
make some calls, but boom. First of all, I like
our budget ain't that deep to go looking for Forrell?
Keep it on, hunted. I ran into Farrell that uh
Dublin's in with a pool hall you know. Okay? Yeah,

(01:40:13):
it kicked me out very fast, right, so you know
it very well? Yeah, bubbling in Dublins like everybody knows
the line. Um, so I knew who Forrell was. I
didn't know he knew who I was. I didn't know
he was a fan of a big credit. Yeah. I
didn't really, I didn't know, you know. Um So he
bumps into me. He actually for real comes up to

(01:40:35):
me Dublins like yo, He's swift, like I'm for rel
you know. I'm like, I know who you are. I
need popping. He's like, you know, I was his shirt
tight at the time, his shirt was he didn't have
one of tight. It was medium, but it wasn't you know,
it went all the way. Yeah. So he's like, uh,

(01:40:55):
you know, I got some records I want to play
you all right, I'm buying them up to my house.
He comes by my house next day. He has a cassette,
has two songs on it. He plays them. They already
have the hook on him. I'm like, okay, and it
was different than we gotta set the stage. What year
is this because this same cassette? Yeah, it was on

(01:41:17):
cassette so years. So what record does he have out already?
Super super thu oh no, oh no, all the power
he might have even had um mystical danger oksic at
the time. Yeah, yeah, exactly. That's where we're in. My

(01:41:39):
opinion for Rose two first records was I mean asked
for yeah records prior to me excuse excuse me at
the forefront, because yeah, not tunes. He had other records
with him, but he wasn't on it. He had no
input on those records. Right first, That's the first thing
he said to me. He said, no one is me input,

(01:42:01):
no one gives me credit. This is the first person
who's going to do that. It's gonna We're gonna be
number one. And I'm the hot dude. I'm sitting there
with this guy. He gotta take the shirt, choker and ship. Yeah.
And I'm looking like and I want to opposite bag
of beans. No joke so good, and I just I

(01:42:22):
just said I believe you. But anyway, it's not um.
So he basically came to my crib played me the
two records. I was like, it's not really our sound,
but you your vision, like you know at this time,
I'm doing it everything. I'm like, I'm like the main guy.

(01:42:43):
You're producing everything from producing everything, and they follow you.
Guys are following j Row and you are following his
lead right correct, doctor side? Yeah, yeah, I'm making all
making every beating at the time. That's what I'm saying,
Like y'all like whatever he's telling y'all on the production,
I'm kind of I want you to keep your thought,
Just keep your thought. But what make you even think

(01:43:06):
about working with the outside producer? Because you could say,
I want to keep all this money for myself, right,
because I'm really humble, bro, Like I was really like
if honestly, when it came down to if they like it,
I love it for the group. I wonder what's what's
best of all of us? Um just at the time,
we were we're popping at damn there as hard as

(01:43:26):
you can on the level we are like underground if
you want to say, now you guys were more than underground. Yeah,
but you know what I'm saying, like real hip hop ship.
You know we were at we're at the point where
we're like, yo, we either gonna go for it or
we're gonna stay. You know what I'm saying, We're trying

(01:43:47):
to do bigger, bigger ship. For that was doing bigger ship.
He fussed with us. We love this ship. Let's see
what happens. You know, if it works, it works, if
it doesn't. We got more records Parrell. We went to
UH to Virginia. We called after I played with him,
and I had to convinced him and j Row like, yo,

(01:44:08):
this is this might change some ship. You know what
I'm saying. They were like, the same beat, the same record, okad,
I'm gonna tell you this though I remember distinctly. I
was a telling Swift. I like, man, I don't really
sound like all type of ship and everything I said,
I said, uh. I said something like see if you
get some more beats out of him and this and
that and till I send a couple of boy variations
or whatever you call it, you know what I mean,

(01:44:29):
just so we can see what else he got. And
Swift was like, nah, man, he said, this is gonna
be a hit bass record. And he said why She
said for real, saying that when when you play this
record when you're going live, He said, to that record, yeah,
I got like different freestop ship. But I remember we
went to UM. We flew to Virginia and take the tube.

(01:44:49):
I knew he was cracking with your ship, you know
what I'm saying. But I didn't like to beat, you
know what, I'm saying that I didn't like that, but
I like Joe beat to get on. I'm saying it
was y'all. Beat was harder to me. I'm gonna tell
you this, for Real sold that ship like for real
was like and he made me he did a producer
like you got about how HETEs selling. He saw because

(01:45:12):
he told us, look, when you start doing this show
live and shows, bitch is gonna get on stage and
pull their titties out. He said, don't do this song
without bitches on stage. And ever since day, like for real,
this is like And in the first the first show

(01:45:33):
we did and we did that song what happing crack
that's all, that's all, that's all pop all like that.
This guy's a visionary and we started calling everyone with ye.
He saw he had the vision bro, and we went

(01:45:56):
with it. Work so and it was in the day.
But that's all the most records we ever sold single wise.
Now let me just ask y'all, because at the time
Loud is very heavily produced by you, produced by Havoc,
Havoc reduced by Risim. Was that like a discrepancy? Bringing

(01:46:19):
it back to the table and saying, Yo, Steve, I
wanna you know with a person that I heard, you know,
do on something outside of the camp at was very
self contained at Loud like we were looking from the
outside in. But even exhibit out, like you said, you
produced that, so we're looking like we we like like
I think the FN just alluded to that. We thought

(01:46:40):
you broke a zippo in it. Exhibit was already probably okay, No,
I'm telling you what. We made that whole process really easy,
really easy. It's Chris Lidy. Chris Lid made that ship.
I'm telling Chris was our guy, like crazy, he loved

(01:47:01):
us bro like he went to He made it happen.
That was all Chris Litte all the behind the scenes creatively,
we was like we got with with for real. He
came to create play song, but all the ship, the
politics that made it happen. And Chris was doing some
consulting with Loud for me and remember this, but but
but push the T was at our studio say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,

(01:47:25):
Martin was doing the song with with withal at that time,
like it was a it was a camp going on. Yeah,
but now Chris Littie Man arrest. He he made he
made moves for us on that you know, I man,
he didn't even represent us. He was had you know,
we we knew Chris when we went on tour. Our
first big tour as alcoholics with trial was with tribe
called Quest and I Saw. So yeah, we developed a

(01:47:48):
good relations opening up with firstly was and then we
started killing ship and then they was opening for us
a couple of shows, so we would start taking terms. Yeah,
we would take turns with them and they out so
it was it was. It was a great time. But
we started on that tour um just as our first

(01:48:09):
big ship as an alcoholic. So we started off that
tour driving ourselves. We rented some Cadillac had all our
fucking um. Yeah, so we you know, the end of
that tour, we had a tour bus, you know what
I'm saying. So we we we worked our way up,
you know. Yeah, it was it was an experience. The

(01:48:31):
power Drink Chance. They all just text us and there's
a picture with Drake and Kanye West together, got damnit
knock that's shig. That's very good ship. I mean we
did that, we did yeah, yeah, yeah, that ship man,
Luis Papa cheese. So there was no hold back, like

(01:48:52):
because although the record is not commercial at all, right,
but for L's name was mercial because he had the
success of super Dog. Oh no, by the way, you
have no idea how many people I brong Forarrell too.
I brought him to jay Z. I brought him and
they was telling me that God. They were saying, yo,

(01:49:14):
his chain is too tight. They yeah, I said, this
is this is I know you said that, but they like,
I forget which one was what, And then the other
one was like yo, yo man, sure man, he breathed,
and I'm like what Like, I'm like, yo, I'm the
furthest thing about thinking about that, because that's the first

(01:49:35):
thing that they not chat at all. Chat was around.
I don't know, bron, but what I'm trying to say
is was always be in the forefront of the group, right,
and Parrell wasn't shot Like. The thing about it is

(01:49:58):
like I told him, like told him when he sat
right here with y'all your brothers are sitting right now,
and I said, do you remember what you told me
the first time? He goes no, And I said, you
told me that if I listened to you, I'll go
number one and you also told me do not close
my album out album You're beat being the last time.

(01:50:21):
And he's so humble now because he's rich and ship
he's like rich rich, right, so he's so humble that
he went like this because he could not debate with me.
He couldn't even fathom of how cocky he was back
then because the more money he made him more humble.
That I like that too. What I say that to

(01:50:42):
say it is, was there any discrepancies between you and
the label, between you and you you you fellas to
say that, you know what, even because that beat is
not commercial to me at all. That beat this really
hip hop, but people couldn't tucked it as commercial because
of the other success of his records prior to that.
Did you ever receive any backlash for that? Like Ox

(01:51:04):
is trying to go, yeah, we got that. But see
the whole thing that we thought that we thought that
we're gonna do if we were going to do a
radio sounding something like that's all the radio song, you
know what I'm saying, because you know that's the way
movie Ship, But we said we're gonna do it. We're
gonna do it our way radio and they sold a
lot of records, but it wasn't because of radio. You
know what I'm saying that I'm gonna saying this loud

(01:51:25):
let us do what we wanted and that and that
and that, and that was one of the key things
that kept us there for fucking tee and twelve. Yeah,
it's like we had a in arms, but we didn't
have an arm. We didn't have nobody sitting in there
like yo, that's a radio single. That's we turned in
the album and that was the album. You know, kept

(01:51:46):
it there and that was it. It didn't focus your
career to control, but it was working on at that time,
you know what I'm saying, So you know you're gonna
go like that for me. Yeah, And that was with
the every group they you know, Steve trying to come
and send the studio a couple of times times just
but it was unnecessary. Like we turned in albums and
that was it, like, no, go back and fix this,

(01:52:07):
go back, we need one of these kind of songs.
It was. It didn't seem like that. No, No, so
let's turn to the park where you guys didn't want
to be out loud. What was that point? Where was
that a point or was that. It was never point no,
they said the doors man, they put it the cloth out.

(01:52:30):
That was it, and then it was Sony. Yeah. And
then his album came out, His solo album came out,
Wrap Life, right when that transition happened. Actually, his album
was already released right when that transition in Loud transitioning
into Loud BMG, BMG, going into Loud, Sony going into

(01:52:51):
the Loud Sony Now, BMG, let you'all do whatever the
funk you want. I got, I got signed. The Sony
is a very you got signed stranger, No, no, no
you because you were you were in in the in
the in the transition. So yeah, album was technically on
Loud DMG. Sony bought all them. He took me to Sony.
But I don't think it was Loud. It was just
so yeah, So it was. It was, it was, and

(01:53:14):
it was. It was just a a weird time for everybody,
like Loud wasn't used to these kind of merger Like
it was just weird space, you know what I'm saying. Um,
once they dissolved the label, then we were on, like
I do whatever we wanted to know what I'm saying.
But yeah, how did you prefer you were to stay
with Loud, stay with Steve took care of us. That

(01:53:36):
was family Steve. Who Who's who's the rich Rich? I
just said, that's that's the exact name rich like rich.
He was a jam a couple of months of those. Yeah, Kevi,
they they took care of the artists like Street teams man. Yeah, yeah, no,
I couldn't have. I wouldn't. I couldn't have asked for

(01:53:59):
a better label to be on, Like to really go
through that whole experience Withheld was definitely things Repkin would
love to him. Yeah, that's my guy. Just had it
with him another Oh yeah, give it up a stee.
That's not family. Like Kanye call me a white boy.

(01:54:20):

flowers while people are here to receive them. Giving flowers
and celebrating our legends while they can still smell them.

(01:58:47):

movement where everyone can give flowers to the legends in
their lives. You can now order a custom flower box

to be honest. I'll take that. But it's beautiful. But
because you know why this is, you know, we say that,
you know you're in a hip hop legend clarifies you
as a superhero. I'm not trying to flow us, but

(02:00:38):
the other day people hit me to go on this
Twitter conversation, right, and it's Twitter conversation occurred about the
harder day fall, and then you know it's it's Twitter
conversation with jay Z and all these people. And then
jay Z asked me, what are you thinking about the movie?

(02:01:00):
And I said, this is the exper and he goes,
what do you mean by the expero? I said, I
feel like that's what hip hop, hip hop is. We're
all an X Men. Everyone has a special power, you know,
just like the X Men. Like everyone has a special power.
Everyone has a you know, alright, cool, let's d let's

(02:01:20):
fucking the bar hooks the less you know what since
the less fucking alright way to discover. But it's all
X Men quality ship. I feel like all of us
a superheroes. I feel like, and not a little not
only were superheroes, but we're birth and superheroes that part.

(02:01:41):
And I just want to show y'all love to your face. Um,
y'all are real legends, real real legends. We respect you.
We want to continue to show you guys love and
us what it is. Many brother, this a just and

(02:02:09):

real quick man like legitimately, like when we say you
guys are legends, you guys are legend serious appreciate it
would be no drink champs, And I say, like, you know,
obviously there could be a drink champ without alcoholic foot
in hip hop terms, but there is a direct lineage
to what you guys did. You know what I'm saying

(02:02:31):
and for myself, like I was super inspired with you guys.
I love you guys. I'm Miami by way of L. A.
So and the way that I love hip hop. You
guys spoke to me personally, and I love everything guys
did man for the West Coast and for hip hop,
and I appreciate is big. I'm gonna ship man, that's

(02:03:01):
I got out of nowhere. We appreciate your congratulations to y'all.
You know we we know each like we know each
other for a wile man And you guys might not remember,
but you guys been on mom mix tape. That's what
I'm saying. I met you years you know. Closing this

(02:03:25):
dude bet me was back at the house and everything,
and remember that, remember I came to your own I
forgot what I mean when I came in freestyle at
your show. You've done a lot, a lot of a
lot of ship. But he better he bet me some
money that I couldn't remember the rap I said on
your show, get hold On, and I remember that, remembered
that people just to task the feet for the world

(02:03:46):
famous alcohol Harley click. I'm telling what the hard boys djan. Listen,
you know you're with tonight hy trolic alcoholic hid your water,
and I can't tell you what my plan is. Y'all
be quit to try and spoil it. I call it
like I see it. I three to three. My life
was like a movie, so we had the DV did

(02:04:07):
I be with my homie Scottie from the y As
We're smoking okay, dunkey like smoking from Friday's. My mom
plays tricks on y'all who want to do it? Nigga?
If the few fit, whack it with your new ship.
I expect that dangerous language. Some niggas bang their gay ship.
You ain't the one for action. I ain't the one
to play where fun. If you rich and famous, you
do the chopulations. You're up the mansion hiding. I'm up
the street on day and skate and wait and patient

(02:04:29):
for the click to pick up victim. Alcoholics knt peek
the holes that kick you with them. Models and actress
is don't say her mattressist, key to your temperate heads,
catas some mac with heirs, I come and smack your
backwards catass and the motherfucking ship and it's a win.
With d J E. F Fan, we just blame that
ship like Juice and Jim. We come through Nigga. We
got a hundred thousand of spirits who want to do it.

(02:04:49):
It's liqual movement, fucking power movement. Everything is hoping improvement.
I passed the Mica j bro because he want to
be the next on the flow. I put it down
with straight profession. Nos, it's not the folk. It's gonna
town like this. Don't even trip. It's catastrophe, your motherfucker bit. Yeah, Pop,
I asked you that. I feel like I'm a certified i'mcoholic,

(02:05:14):
all right, I have no memory. How then do you
have all your memory? I don't look at that. I
don't play. This is so much that it's like a song,
like a something that you just hear so much. You
just know the world. I thought you just had remember

(02:05:37):
remember remember his day, our second album, when we were
mastering our you kind of remember this were mastering our
second album. You were in the room battery battery studio mastering. Okay,
I forget your name or something in New Yorker. Yeah,
it's in New York. We're mastering our album in one studio.
You're in the next one mastering your ship. Actually think

(02:06:00):
that's when I heard the first time I heard the
joints you did with for Rel and I was like,
we need, we need, you need to turn a couple
of more knobs. Yeah, literally you were talking about I
didn't get it until you did your joint tell her
what her other things like maybe one of two songs.
But when I heard that, I realized that he's a

(02:06:21):
hip hop motherfucker. You know what I'm saying and talking
about dress hip hop at the time. Also dressed like
prints almost, but there was a lot of that going on.
It wasn't like like to see somebody ship like that.
I don't know what it was, but no, but had
that ball hard. Yeah you get a dance like this? Yeah, yeah,
you know I can't our first our first video. I

(02:06:54):
got a bad yard I had on the dude, you
can do that? You really playing yourself? You're like you trash.

(02:07:14):
I had that ship downpack a little trash trash kill. Yeah,
that's what. That's what Lebron. Yeah, enjoy think about it.
He killed that real ship though, Man, that that that
that's crazy again. Let me wehiterate this. You guys are legends.

(02:07:43):
We appreciate you guys, We love you guys. Man, you
just want to we just want to keep bigging you up,
because that's what this show was about. The show was
about making sure our legends know that their legends, I legends,
know that they're you know, in the right place in
history because sometimes you know, you know, it's even me,

(02:08:05):
it's even me. I feel like that sometimes, like you know,
I made up this word slime and I made it
this word jump off and I made this word hate
a raid and they don't beat me up? Did you
make up tracks just to clear the Rosco people? I
don't know which one of them? Okay, this will be clear.
But I participated a little bit. I had a lot

(02:08:28):
of a lot of far But let's stop what this
is about right now. But it's about right now. It's
making show you guys really understand the importance of your legacy.
It's very important. Um. One of the first guys we've

(02:08:49):
ever seen from the West Coast spinning bars, bars, bars,
you know to us, to me, excuse me, I may
not claim the whole East Coast away, wrong, I don't
know we have bars. Yeah, I definitely don't mean it.

(02:09:14):
I said, just let me just take it for me.
Bars concept, oh, the ability to have fun? Yeah right.
One of my favorite rappers ever is Bi smar Key
Rest in Peace. And it wasn't because Business literal wasn't
because Bis was, but he was literal to it. But

(02:09:39):
I'm gonna tell you why Biss was. Bus knew how
to have fun yea. And I never, of course I
met Biz, but I've never really hung out and to
know that if this is true, but his raps reflected
it that much that I just believe. And that's how
I feel about Trump is. You know I didn't really

(02:10:01):
get drunk drunk with you that day because you came drunk, right.
I wanted to get drunk drunk like da He can't
drunk like if I'm want to claim some of it,
like take a shot with me, and it's like, damn,
this might not be good. Like two in the morning
to no, I was the daytime big and I said

(02:10:24):
this thing over here rapping over everything. Yea. But what
I'm saying is this is what to me, hip hop
is BF Van Nori train champs. We're not ship without
saying to the people who came before, the people that
came in the middle of us, and the people that

(02:10:46):
came after us, how much we love, how much we
appreciate it. Other than that, this ship would never be here.
We understand our legends, and we wanted to have a
platform for our legends to whenever they want to talk
about you know, you want to talk about your your
new weed line. You've got a weed line. Mycoholic come

(02:11:07):
to smoke smoking that. I was taking a ship in
my bathroom and I smoked it. And the tip, the tip,
the tip is very serious, but I did not know,
but I want to. Yeah, it's serious. It's coming soon.
I'm as soon. So we want you to know y'all

(02:11:29):
appreciate it. Y'all loved and we funk with y'all that
drink chaps and this will It was for y'all home
back then. It's your home in the middle and it
should be your home to the end. Appreciate lu We
love and respect your motherfucker. They got picture and I'm
