Speaker 4 (05:51):
The food was really good though.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
The funniest thing about that was my first song I played.
I was like, anybody out here like Landy Wilson and
one guy was like, I was like, dang, that guy
really likes Laney Wilson. And I played the song and
after it, Dan goes, do you know that was Duck
Hodges out there.

Speaker 2 (06:08):

Speaker 4 (07:40):
It's like, it's just a lot of me, you know
too much?

Speaker 2 (07:46):
What are you stay champion of? Four times state championship?
Oh gosh, there's a lot of football. You can't even
remember football pull vall so fur things, yeah, okay for
football state champs like no, no, it's four all my
senior year too. Danged he hell here yeah, man, and

(08:07):
I el should have been a thing back then.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yeah, you're telling me I was.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Broke man, so you wait, wait he didn't finish football.
What did you play football? I was a receiver?

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Yeah, and uh vault yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Okay, keep going. We're gonna come back to that.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
One and then four by one.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Yeah, it's like the relay. So y'all each run one hundred.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Yeahs passive baton yeah, and then we won as a
guys team for track sick you still run? If I'm
being chased, could you it's a good answer.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Could you take that boat paddle right there and start
back here and jump like over over Jordan's down and
over that table I could try.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
If I don't, I would probably go viral. I wouldn't
be mad at that. Dude. What oh my God, Heavenly
Father what uh oh?

Speaker 1 (08:59):
We just want into it. I want to talk about,
don't you. It's gonna take me thirty minutes to get
it up here with that boat. Were they like, hey, Todd,
we need somebody to pull var for us.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Kind of that's my brand new guitar. By the way,
It's like the first note guitar I ever got in
my life.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
And he just smashes it on everything. Yeah, yeah, how did.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
You get into pole vot? I don't really know.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
I think my sister pull vaulted back in the day,
and uh I was in I was in middle school
and I saw her doing it. I was like, I
could do that, and so I tried it and then
ended up being pretty decent at it and then sounds
like it's fun.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
I always wonder that too, Like, how does somebody like
you see those things the Olympics, You're like, how does
somebody even where you going that high? Again? Where are
you going that high?

Speaker 5 (09:49):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Like fifteen sixteen feet in the air?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
That is bro, Yeah, that is short what's how do
you have a disaster story of missing? Oh yeah, just track.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, So the way pole vault works, you got different
poles and so it's not all just the same pole
every time.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Is that like different categories you could win, like you
compete in as different pole size or just no.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
It's it's one.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
It's one competition, but you use different It's like it's
like using different cleats in a sense, or a different
glove for a different position. But yeah, I mean there's
I've can't tell you how many times I grabbed a
two stiff pole on a short run. So you got
like a three step, which is like three lefts and

(10:33):
then you hit the box and then or a five step.
But grabbing two stiff of a pole on a three step,
it'll shoot you right back out on the And it's hard, dude,
it's like concrete. Oh dude, it looks so hard. Yeah, well,
I guess literally and figuratively it looks. But it's like
the biggest adrenaline Russia. It's I miss it honestly for real. Yeah, damn,
that's cool.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Dude, wind up missing that, dude, wind up missing? So
what do you I'm curious, like, what's like world record
pole vault, Like, what's megan high jump?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I think the world record is like twenty to twenty
one feet, you know what.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
I'm compared to that too. That's only that's the only thing.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Imagine looking up at a deer stand, imagine jump. I
have to get over the jump here.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
I have to use this stick, yeah, to stick in
the ground and bend it to where it flies me
over a twenty foot a muddy excel. I feel like
this is one of those things we could really talk
about too long because we already have because we want
to know about it. Because I'm already thinking, like, well,
you want to bend to your poll, right if you
if you go higher, you got to have a bend

(11:41):
to your pole to sling your over that pole of
that bar.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
And dude, that feeling of it, Like, so you'll sit there.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
This guy was like this, This guy went he played
college football as a receiver, and we're talking about pole vault.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Dude, I haven't talked about since high school.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
But we know about football. I know we don't know
about it. That's true.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
That's true, dude, Like you'll be up so imagine I'm
vertical right now, upside down upside down. Yeah, you're upside down,
so you swim like this? Yeah, just like that.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Okay, but you're you're sitting here, so I pulls like perfect?
Can you feed up that high that I just did?
Try to get me a banger like more, this is
what you're doing.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yeah, you gotta suck your butt up though.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Oh yeah, do that feeling of it like shooting me up?

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Like put a pit in your stomach.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Oh no doubt, especially eighteen feet. I'll be like that's insane,
that's all God, I would die. I would kill myself. Okay,
what's you're mad at? Let's get into it. Jeez, let's
do it this way. Oh we're turned down. You gotta
fix that before. Okay, I'll try keep going. Tell me

(12:54):
what you do?

Speaker 1 (12:57):
What you mad at?

Speaker 6 (12:59):
You're still? What it is what you're mad? Is it
you in lost? Kids might be a boss man or
your names cat? Just tell us, tell us what you're.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Mad you did? Is it hot in here? Didn't take this?
Are y'all hot? Sweat? Nice? That was pretty close to
them too, right, it's something like that. I got a
good one. Are you mad? He's like a big one.

(13:29):
Let me go first, my first petty. Uh, I'm mad
at this morning.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
I was driving to town and we've got these like
usually the protein shakes are in uh like plastic bottles
and you can check them up and then just open them.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Nothing happens.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Well, this is a chocolate they I guess they didn't
have it at Costco other day and Jordan got the
like the canned protein chocolate drink. They're fine, they're good,
They're they're like actually taste good. But it says as
good as fair Life. No, hell, that's the good. So
on this can it's like shake well before opening. So

(14:09):
I'm like, okay, in my truck driving out c C
five chocolate grenade, like it was like rolling over an
I d bro I swear it was.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
I was like.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
And it just went everywhere, and I was I got
so mad because I was like, what the heck why
I put Yeah, it literally says shake well before before opening,
and don't don't shake that well before it not well
have you.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Ever seen a protein shaking and shaking loosely me either?
Which was my frisk Yes, I mean yeah yeah. How
much was it the I mean, there's there's a bit left,
but it was just like it was just like shaking
up a doctor pepper and immediate car gotta be Yeah,

(15:03):
the thing that thing blew up in my car super annoying. Yeah,
that's what I'm mad at. It on my new golf
bro I want you mad at is probably in my
top three things that I've been mad at on this show.
Keep going, I gotta take a swatshirt off, all right,
see you later. So should I just put the place

(15:24):
on blast or just kind of put it on blast?

Speaker 4 (15:26):
Put it on blast?

Speaker 2 (15:27):
So we went to this, Uh, first off, let me
just say this now, I'm not gonna say I'm gonna
wait to my family at the beach last week. We
got to go to the beach. Was awesome. They're great,
and you know, man, you do seafood a couple of nights,
you do some other stuff and then you're like's mix
it up a little bit. Well, you know, and my
wife loves Mexicans. So we went. We found this Mexican

(15:49):
restaurant right there on the beach. It's close to where
we stay. And as soon as we walked up, I
was like, oh no, oh no, because there was like
Caucasian waiters and I was like, yeah, it's already not
gonna be you know what I mean. And then it
was like something Cantina. So I'm like, oh, three times

(16:10):
expensive as a as me Pueblo or something, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, chicken, and she's like a like a cheese or whatever.
Chicken and cheese ain't gonna be the same.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
If no, I mean when I when I sit down,
I want ro thigh coming to take my order. I
want to thick rae thigh coming up saying can barely yeah, man,
come on, don't make fun.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Of you for Spanish.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Don't say to her yeah or gross.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
You just said hello, yeah, happy to be here. And
then anyway, this girl walks up. She's like, can I
have your order? And I'm like, my gosh, why are
we here? I look at the menu. Nine dollars of taco,
nine dollars taco. Shyan my lovely beautiful wife says ye,
can we start off like a cheese due? And she's like, yeah, sure,

(17:00):
you know, I'll go get it. She she brings the
cheese dip out. Ain't no chips, just a bowl of cheese,
step just raw dog and yeah you got kids, which
they'll just so she goes he did it, don't know that.
So he's hungry. So I'm right. She's like, yeah, chips

(17:23):
are and I was like, what, oh, you gotta get
get the chips. So she's like, yeah, self served, you know,
you just go get your chips. I was like, self serve. Okay,
I hate this place. Hate this place. I get up.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
I walk over there on the side there's a like
a chip bar. There's like one Maxican restaurant in thirty A.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Yeah, well they should clean they should clean it up.
I walk up to the chip bar, which is just
chips and salsa, and there's a little tiny sign in
the on the glass that says, enjoy your chips. A
small fee will be added to your bill at the

(18:02):
end of the.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Like, so not only do you have to get your
own chips, let's go, they're making you pay for, yes, sir, getting.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Your own chips. They're making you pay for getting your
own chips. And I was I'm interested to know. And
they bait and switched. They already brought the cheese snip
out due it was already sitt there. So what am
I supposed to do? How much were they how much?

Speaker 3 (18:19):
We know?

Speaker 2 (18:20):
But here that's what I'm talking about. A small fee
I get back, dude, I'm steaming. I'm steaming. She said,
what's like, you gotta pay?

Speaker 4 (18:32):
You got a paper?

Speaker 2 (18:34):
She's like what. I was like, here's the thing, Shy,
here's the thing. This is on the way home.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
I'm still talking about Also, I got some many questions
like is it a one time fee?

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Is it per weight?

Speaker 3 (18:42):
No?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Is it per basket? Nope? It looks like it's just
a one time fee. As many chips as you win.
And the chips are trucked, and the chips are tracks,
got them in your shirt, chips are trucks. No, I
mean you can go back. It's just the one time fee.
I think you can get as me as so. I
told Sean on the way back, I'm still mad about it.
This is a this is four days later. On the

(19:03):
drive home. I'm still mad about these chips. I said,
here's the thing, man, even if it was a dollar,
if it's a dollar, just tack on a quarter because
there was four of us there. Just tack on a
quarter to whatever we bought. And now the chips are like,
don't make me feel like I'm paying for the chips.
That's thirty eight for you? Maybe me real made me real, man.
I'm right reason, man, within reason, I can tell you, man,

(19:26):
mad anything.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
I don't know. I don't get mad, easy, I'm being honest.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Uh you think I get mad easy? You just talked
about it's a Messa restaurant for fifteen, bro, that would
make you mad.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Absolutely, it's the price. I think it was the price.
It's the principle.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
And I want to say that bill was about a
buck fifty first. Oh oh, so when they bring the
tacos out, I got a shrimp taco. They literally been
like a shrimp, talk like one one.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Was it a like a jumbo shrimp or.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
I mean it must have been. I would have classified
him as like a medium shrimp. It wasn't jumbo, but
he wasn't the little guy. He was like a long Even.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
The medium shrimp should get the job done.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
One for nine dollars. They should put the three by
a whole pound of shrimp for nine dollars down the road. Yeah,
all right, let our guests talk. I don't know, man,
you know you glad at any.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
I mean I drove in the rain this morning.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, we pissed me off. Yeah, always does, ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
It's like even a little drizzle in Nashville. Nobody knows, dude.
If a rain drop hits a windshield, they just start
trying to find medians as fast as they possibly can.
Just a range drop, let's wreck immediately. That's my poles.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
What else pissed me off?

Speaker 2 (20:44):
Yes, we got it.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Unmatching socks, my match almost this morning, my match today.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Even like unmatching socks. When one of them is your okay,
if they're like one of them is your son.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Both of us are wearing themes, so one of them
is your son and then one of them your daughter, Tuck,
that's all you pissed off at that talk.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
You pissed off.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
When I come in and seen that, I was I
was confused. I didn't know what it was. But now
I see, now I see your kids. I thought it
was like Tellotoby's.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Was wearing Telltobby. Did you see that guy more? You're
pu dude, straight from the Peu.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
We uh right here is awesome. Olympic is awesome. How
what are you close to any of those Olympia Olympic,
Olympic Olympic National Forest Park.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Oh no, okay, I'm on like the Southwest. Okay, Yeah,
so it's probably like an hour north of Portland, two
hours south of Seattle, like right on, I five, gotcha
hour away from the coast.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Gotcha? You grew up your whole life there? Yep, bro,
what's it? What I haven't that's so foreign to me? Growing,
I mean, growing up anywhere besides the South is foreign
to me. But like, what is that? What did it
look like growing up? What did what did you do?
Would you just play a bunch of sports in winn
state championships? Or did you hunt? Did you fish? How's

(22:07):
the fishing?

Speaker 3 (22:07):
So imagine?

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Imagine?

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Like, so it's the mountains, right, So I grew up
in the mountains, and it's very green. I mean, it's
probably one of the prettiest places you'll ever go.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
It is gorgeous.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
It is beautiful.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
And I grew up right on the Columbia River, and
you know, on a town called Kalama where the Kalama
River right there the the col you know a bunch
of different rivers. But I grew up fishing mostly. I
didn't really have anybody that I could learn how to
hunt from, you know, but me and my buddies would fish.
I'm like sturgeon, steel hood, salmon, It wasn't like we

(22:45):
never fished for bass or anything like that. I mean
I came down here or catfish. We didn't do any
of that. It was just like river fish, you know.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Yeah, so how do you I have literally never done that,
Like I've never fished. Love to.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
It's the coolest thing in the world.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah, I would love to. I've actually been trying to
work out with some of my buddies trying to. I
wouldn't even know where it began. I mean, either where
do you I mean, are you doing salmon eggs?

Speaker 3 (23:08):
Like?

Speaker 2 (23:09):
I know they all use that they can, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
You know you do smellt for like a sturgeon and
stuff like that. Really literally, what we do throwing on
is big ass for sturgeon. Sit on the bank of
the Columbia River, cast out probably like seventy five yards
one hundred yards.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
I'm like, no, that's quite a way.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Wow, like fifty yards.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
It's like fifty yards cast out, and you sit there
and plunk and just wait for and then you're fighting
that sturgeon depending on the size, for like, wow, thirty minutes.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
What's the biggest sturgeon year? Not too big?

Speaker 3 (23:49):
You know, my buddy caught a twelve footer though I
got twelve and then my other body caught a ten footer. Bro.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Those things look prehistoric. They're not, well, they kind of are,
but I think they are. Like, actually, I think some
of them can live a very long time. I don't
mean yeah, no, I know, not living from the I'm
just saying they can't.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yeah. Yeah, it's like I think they can get up
into like the hundreds of years they're.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
From the dinosaur.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yeah, yeah, the crazy Yeah did y'all we went to
the uh we went to the aquarium a couple of
weeks ago in Chattanooga, and you can pet like you can.
They're like got little ones swimming in a little tank
that you can just run your hand or and I
mean it is like scaly, like bomb back.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Yeah yeah, and you you catch them and you'll you know,
if it's in season, you can keep them, which the season.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Is very short.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
And are they good? Have you?

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Yeah, Sturgeon meets like some of the best. If you
ever go somewhere like a market or something like if
they got sturgeon, try it. You have to not know that,
but yeah, I mean they'll stay alive on the beach
for hours. Dude, you put them right back into the
water and they're no what.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Yeah, wow, that's pretty cool man. I saw a picture
you have you on your Instagram. Jordan sent it to me.
She said us too.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
You're holding a big deal in one of them and
the other one you what was that? Still? Was that
a steelhead? It was huge, but it's probably had like
like like a trout mouth a little bit, except giant. Yeah,
except giant, Yeah, I think so. Yeah, what do you
do with you cook them?

Speaker 3 (25:21):
They're great?

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Man, that's so sick. Do you, uh, how do you
cook them? To grill them?

Speaker 3 (25:27):
I was assuming you can grill them?

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Is it a lot like salmon still here?

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Yeah, it's pretty much the same thing, like.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
A pink meat or more white. It's white, it is. Yeah.
I'd like to try that. I just don't even like,
like you said, I really just don't even know where
to begin. I guess you would just have to book
a goud and go there and figure it out. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Watch YouTube videos. Yeah, you can learn anything on YouTube.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
It's true.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Back in the day when I was learning how to play,
you know, music, yeah, it was all it was.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
A great resource. That's a great resource. How old are you?

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Twenty? Five.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Oh gotcha. Yeah, I mean I didn't. I didn't really
have it learning when I was because I'm forty one,
somewhat older than you. Yeah, but when I started, it
was just kind of like we would watch music videos
and then I would just try to do what their
fingers were doing, which was pretty frustrated to do it
quick because you couldn't rewind and like start, you didn't
watch No Brad Pays videos like No Arth and Ship. Yeah,

(26:27):
and then and then you know, you had a youth
minister that would teach you here and there. That helped
out a lot, you know.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Yeah, I grew up in Washington doing all that. Go
play football at Montana Tech. Yep, Montana is the absolute ship, dude.
It's great.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Where's Montana Tech at?

Speaker 3 (26:45):
And Butte?

Speaker 2 (26:46):
So it's in between uh, Missoula and Bozeman. Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
It's a little closer to Bozeman than we used to
hunt right there on the I think it's like the
West Boulder River, so like in between in between Butte
and Livingston Big Timber or Big Timber and then butts
up there somewhere. Yeah, dude, we love Montana Moana, so
it's so jamming up Montana's beautiful. And I'm not knocking anything,

(27:10):
no knock it.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
We don't care. I'm not.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
But I gotta tell you like where like especially like
my hometown and like where I'm from that area, Dude,
I think it's way pretty really, dude, I'm telling you,
it's out of this world.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
What are you doing down here? Man? You want to
go back?

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Sometimes?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I got this music thing keeping it keeps you, It
keeps you here.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
I love it down here too.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
It's it's great, we love it. But there is a
little Western bug that bites pretty pretty often, just because
there's something, there's something that connects you to the mountains
if you're an outdoors.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
But it's also like and you're probably experiencing it the
opposite way, coming from there living here now, hunting, fishing,
hunting white tail, catching largemouth bask like that.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
We've done that for.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Three quarters I mean pretty much. Our whole life is
like that's that's what we grew up in, that's what
we know. So like there is a man, there's there's
some kind of magic to go out there and do
do it in that environment and do it with like
try to chase these animals that we've never seen before,
you know, or catch these fish that we've never let
hands before.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Like that's a very intriguing, you know experience.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
To me, is y'all ain't got no elk down here.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Yeah, that's why we do.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
But not like not like we go like they reintroduced
elk into eastern Tennessee, into the into the Smokies, but.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Like, yah, we ain't got them, like y'all got them, dude.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Like I remember going to school in the morning and
I would have to wait for a herd of fifty
seven olally across the road. And that's just like a
normal thing, Like sorry, I'm waiting to class.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
There's a.

Speaker 4 (28:53):
Big ass staring at me from the hood, you know.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah, that's crazy. I mean if we go to Colorado.
We went to a show in Colorado a couple of
years back, and we would see him in the field
and just be like their shoes.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Anytime I go out there and I see what it's like,
all I'm looking for is it is trying to see
elk elkamule dere. I haven't still hadn't seen it grizzly yet.
I want I want to do that. A long way away.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
In Washington, there's brown bear brown. They kind of categorize
it the same thing.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Yeah, I think grizzly.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Gotcha. Are you doing any hunting over here now that
you're here? I mean I did.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
I went down to Louisiana for New Year's.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Was that where that buck? Was that that picture? Dang?
That was a good deer.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
That's the point.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
That's good. How'd you How did you like white?

Speaker 3 (29:46):
I loved it.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Rifle or BA rifle? Gotcha? Luisian has got some big
deer man. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Okay, let me ask you this, if you could spend
one day in the out or doing hunting, fishing, doing
something outdoorsy, what would it be and where would it be?

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Dude?

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Nothing beats standing in the middle of a river drinking
beer with your buddies trying to.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Slay some salmon. Really yeah, nothing beats it. And we
got waiters on it, you whatever.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Yeah, nothing, nothing beats just standing in a river and fishing.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Yeah. I bet I bet that.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
You know, it's like it's like eighty five degrees out,
you know, it's perfect mountains, Yeah, mountains you're in like
a valley because the river.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
I've done that one time, dude.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
I grew up doing that.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
That's the craziest thing.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Yeah, yeah, because usually it's like if I asked that
question to somebody that I mean, like they'd be like,
I'll do John Boat with your buddies, you know, some
music playing, catching catching large mouth. Yeah, but that's so
it's so wild to me to talk to somebody that
that's the way. That's the way you grow up fishing.
That's your fishing. Its standing in the middle of the river.
Standing in the middle of the river. Our rivers are
eighty foot deep here.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
You can stand creaks, you know, but like you can
try to stay like rip ripping salmon out of just
a river? What are you fly fishing or you know? Okay, yeah,
that's it. So what's what's like, because I'm curious about this.
Is there like a limit, like you can only catch
so many or is it just like fish everywhere there's.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
A limit and I forget, I mean I haven't done
it in a couple of years. Yeah, there's definitely a limit.
You can't just catch all you want. It's not like
bass fishing, you know.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yeah, have you ever been taking out I never have.
It's a special time of the year. I got to
change that.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Yeah, it's easy on here. I mean it's it's kind
of big up there, but not like it's a different
breed down here.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Literally. Yeah, I think y'all have probably Mirriams.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Yeah yeah, I would say mariam So that's a uh yeah,
that's a rio okay.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
God him in Texas and the Miriams kind of have
the wider buff around the edge of the tails and
in there they're they're they're a little wider.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
And then what we have there's four subspecies of the
wild turkey in America, and then if you get into
Mexico there's another one. But where we're at it's called
the Eastern and they're bigger. They can say they're kind
of harder to hunt because maybe the terrain. Maybe it's
just that's all. So they're getting hunted so much, you
know what I mean. Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska right there, Nebraska,

(32:28):
you can kind of get some hybrids, but all that's
kind of like rio's that's what they call rios. The
north of that, north of that's Merriam's Florida's Ostiolo. There's
like one uh state that the osso is in. It's Florida.
Really yeah, it's see I.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
Want to learn. You know, I want to learn all
that I've never he you learning right now?

Speaker 2 (32:47):
You learn it right now?

Speaker 3 (32:48):
All No, it sounds fun.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Let us take you. We'll take us on a steelhead.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
I want to stand in a river and drink beer
bro water mama, and and catch gatora and catch catch salmon.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Nothing beats it.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
And then but see here's here's my I would say.
I mean, I'm a deer. I like my I wish
dear season with every day. So I would say, like
the middle of November, sitting in a deer stand in
Kansas waiting, you know, with a you got a one
eighty on camera like that nothing beats that from me
or this next these next like month coming up Turkey
season and sitting on an oak tree with somebody like

(33:25):
a couple buddies right there and listening to Turkey's gobble
all around you and like waiting on the fly down
and that right there, dude, to me, that is standing
in the middle of a river catching salmon, Like there
is nothing that beats that.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Yeah, do you know.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
What'll shit send a chill down your spine sitting in
the middle of the woods. Doesn't matter what you're doing.
Middle of the woods, you know, kind of starting to
get dusk. All of a sudden, you hear an elk
bugle from like one hundred yards out, one hundred and
fifty yards out. It's louding it like echoes against the trees,
and it'll sends a chill down. It's one of the

(33:58):
it's one of the like scaryest best feelings in the world,
you know, because you know you're you're safe. Nothing somewhat. Yeah,
we got mountain lions and ship up there. Yeah, nothing, nothing.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Compared to that. So I bet that is because you're
sitting in.

Speaker 4 (34:17):
It's just yeah, it almost like cuts through the air.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
You know. Have you ever killed it? Now? I mean
I've gone elk hunting, but yeah, neither, Yeah, neither we
we've but we've heard that about wolves, wolves and washing.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
So they started introducing them, I want to say, a
couple of years ago, which I've got my thoughts about,
but for like the longest time, No, but a couple
of years ago they I think they dropped like seven
in I want to say northeastern Washington or something like that. Yeah,

(34:54):
but it's they're just killing everything, dude. It's ridiculous. Yeah,
there's a reason why our ancestors killed them off because
they were taken away from our foods play.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
And killing everything, right, just killing, killing the cattle killing.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Yeah, kill cattle everything U And they not only do
they do that, but they just do it for the sports.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Kill it.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
They kill it. Yeah, they kill it just to kill it.
Like every once in a while if they're hunger, they'll
feed off of it.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
But they they killers.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
So that's why some people are so piss because they'll
be out in the woods. You know, got a freaking
nice nine point on a trail camp. They'll go out
it's sitting there dead, full carcass.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
You know. Yeah, that's tough, dude. Yeah, I would be
mad at I think if Kyles did that. Oh, pissed.
I think if Kyles shoot everyone. I mean we still
shoot everyone we see in season. But they uh, but
they eat what they at least have a little bit
of respect that they're just trying to But for sport,
that's a total different. And you know what, the same

(35:58):
thing goes for humans, Like I don't like, I don't
like a human that kills something that doesn't need it. Truthfully,
I agree, you know what I mean, Like, if you
like everything. Yeah, if you're don't take a life, there's
a responsibility that comes with that. I remember that old
I shot a meal deer in South Dakota and he
was super mega old and super stagey and dude, I

(36:19):
eat that thing like it was like it was like
bad shoe leather. But I ate that whole little salt. Yeah,
Tony's I put everything. I tried to loosen it up,
you know, I'd score it and still just taste it off.
Some of those are bad. It says your grandfather was
your grandfather a preacher? Really it was? Yeah? What what denomination?

(36:43):
What was the church?

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Was Church of God?

Speaker 2 (36:45):
I wasn't. Is that where you is that like where
you cut your teeth? And music?

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Is that like your first love was like got like
hymn's and things like that. Yeah, in a sense, our
dad's a Baptist, a Southern Baptist preacher. So really, okay,
you grew up in the church doing that? Yeah, yeah,
I mean kind of.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
So, I mean I grew up in my I come
from a Samoan family too, so it's like they're very
I don't know if you've ever hung out with a
group of Samoans, but.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
It's probably like one of the I love the samo
I've hung out with a group of Samoa cookies from
The Girls.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
Sketch, but it has nothing to do with.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
They're good.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
But yeah, I remember like growing up.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
You know, Simon's are very musical people and very like
expressing their emotions like we're in their emotions. I most
leave kind of thing very family oriented. I remember growing up,
we'd be in the living room, you know, after church
or something. We got the whole family there because we
did you know, Sunday dinner, which wasn't really dinner because
we had it at three o'clock after or two o'clock

(37:58):
in the afternoon after church. I'm always called the dinner
and we'll be hanging out and someone starts singing amazing
grace and then next thing, you know, the whole family's
singing and it got like a choir in the living
room and it's cool, dude, it's the coolest thing.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
Yeah, But I didn't really start like.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Diving deep into music until probably like ten or eleven,
when I started playing.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
And playing guitar, piano, piano. Yeah, dude, I was hooked.
Who was who were who are you listening? Too, Who
were who was influencing that for you?

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Dude, I kind of grew up a mutt to music,
if I'm being honest. You know, obviously we had country
radio on the truck everywhere we went and uh but
my the stuff that I really started learning with was
like hauling outs and Queen and uh, you know, Jim
Crochey and uh yeah, Jerry Lee lewis a lot of

(38:53):
Jerry Lee, you know a couple of other dudes. But
I don't know, I just I love that style.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
Was that your was that your dad's influence or your mom?
Like was like our mom she loved Elvis, she loved
you know that, and my dad was that kind of
My dad loved you know, Kansas, he loved the Doobie
Brothers and the Eagles and all that.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
So we kind of got both both ways. Dude.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
I kind of just found it. Yeah, I don't really
know what explained. I mean, my grandma kind of my
grandma on my mom's side, she kind of listens to
some of that stuff. But I kind of just found
a lot of it. Like my dad was heavy metal.
Oh yeah, I've been sevenfold, Yeah, let's go. Then my
mom was very uh you know country, like, uh, she

(39:37):
loved Riba, Miranda Lambert. You know who else was Carrie?
Carrie Underwood.

Speaker 2 (39:44):
Yeah, it's crazy that his parents are listening to the
people that we listened to. That's what I'm saying. Like,
I bet they're around our age or well, I'm forty one.
I mean, so your mom was probably he's twenty five. Yeah,
so they probably didn't happen when she was fifteen. No, dude,
but she could be twenty five when you know what
I mean, right right, right, No, I think she's listening

(40:08):
to carry He grew up on Carrie Underwood. No, no, yeah,
that's crazy to me, man, Like I remember when she
won Idol. Uh you know, nuts, But I get it.
I mean like where my parents, I mean, mom grew
up on like Patrick Lime and stuff like that, like
older stuff. You know, yeah, what a great era of me.
Like when you talk to a lot of people our age,

(40:28):
they talk about those cats too, like Jim Croche and
hall of Oates and didn't you go see Hollow Notes? Yeah, dude,
I was just thinking about the day. Awesome. So what
are you look?

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Twenty fifteen sixteen? Yeah, they played, they played in Chattanooga
and uh, did they were sick. Dude, what's like a
couple of old dudes up there?

Speaker 2 (40:47):
And what's your hollo nototes jab? I mean what I want?
You like? Fun? Can I don't do that. Let's try.
I'm gonna have to pull the words up.

Speaker 4 (41:02):
Came to the flame.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
I won't play it out a d.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
Won't.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
Oh's a good tune.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
It ain't, no doubt. Hey, you jammed them for a while.
I just I was just thinking with that you make
my dreams from bump get the bound bound something like that?

Speaker 1 (41:28):
What I want? You got o behrd a head like
a flame that burns a candle. A candle feeds a flame.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
What I got?

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Full stock of thoughts and dreams scatter and you pull
them all again?

Speaker 2 (41:47):
And how I can't explain? Where were you? Oh sorry?
Oh uh well, well you come on, you making my
drinks come true? Yeah, man, listen to this bump ump,

(42:10):
I don't know, dump dump, yeah, something like that. Yeah,
you gotta think to like that's original. Well I guess
everything was a copy of something, right, But like those
guys were I feel like, making their own stuff up,
like kind of making their own genre up at that time.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
Yeah, they were.

Speaker 2 (42:33):
They were they were. They were on the edge. Man,
they were doing something real life singers too, you can't,
you can't really that was an area you couldn't really
fake that, you know. But a lot of I think,
I think what you're touching on too is like a
lot of that stuff.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
Sounds experimental because they were they were like getting out
of the norm, out of the Yeah, like they were
kind of doing they were kind of doing their own thing.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
And Queen's kind of like that totally.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
Man, I think I love some Queens stuff, man, definitely
not like the same, but like on the same.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Yeah, doing their own way, making their own road. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Yeah, that's why they're huge, because they're so niche and
and I mean, nobody else can do what they do.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
Nobody has, nobody else, right, he was he.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Was next level vocalist too, though. Yeah, I mean it
kind of takes that, I feel like, I mean, their
players were, Yeah, dude, I mean that did you watch
the movie that's that's bicycle.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
Around my bicycle?

Speaker 2 (43:32):
Do you even do that? I don't know, dude, Yeah,
that's a lot. And why is that so catchy? Why
is it so why is it candy to it? I mean, right,
talking about it?

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Is your brain.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
Yeah, I think that's what it is. I think it's
I think it's the I think I think harmony is
pleasant to like the ear. And I think those guys
were so good at that that they just kind of,
you know, and they just kind of that's it. Literally
just like hooked you. It was hooky because they didn't
care was right, you know exactly.

Speaker 4 (44:01):
I didn't care what was right.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
They just cared. Wow, this makes me feel something. This
sounds good totally, Let's do it. If it sounds good,
let's just do it.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
You know. Let's see you said right right there, like
we say, right, so, how long have you been down here?
Because that was very southern?

Speaker 3 (44:16):
Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
You said it was right right? Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
I was like, okay, one of us, what's your give
us a little bit of your moving in national story?

Speaker 3 (44:26):
Okay, uh well I moved in twenty twenty, so it
was like the heat of COVID. I didn't know anybody, really,
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
No, not a single person who pushed you to come
down here, Like, what was it? You? Was? It? Just
like I haven't gonna do it.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
I mean, yeah, I remember sitting my mom down before
I moved I was like, I think I want to
chase this music thing.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
You're like, Mom, I didn't get drafted.

Speaker 4 (44:49):
Yeah, but try my luck over there.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
But didn't you have an injury or something?

Speaker 3 (44:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (44:53):
So I'm blown this knee out twice and then this
leg and ankle once.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
It's terrible.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
There was no football, old Tucker legs more. How did you, Brad?
It was just a hit you hit low.

Speaker 4 (45:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (45:10):
So first time on my left knee, I think I
jumped over somebody and then I landed wrong and I
tried to run and then clapped. And then the second time.
It was the league championship game my junior year and
I was playing wide out, so I was and we

(45:31):
wererunning a sweep to the right and I was blocking
into our sideline and then the guy tack tackle came
in smacked him over and I was planted and too
d linemen just I remember looking down.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
This is going to get a little no, let's go
all right.

Speaker 3 (45:50):
I remember looking down and immediately I knew something's wrong
and I looked at it and my my coach is
right here because we're on our sideline. My foot was
like a forty five degree angle that way like kind
of backwards a little bit and my kneecap was in
my thigh. Dude was sitting right here on separated here,

(46:12):
the complete dislocation of the knee cap, and I remember
looking at it and I looked at my coach.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
I was like, what do I do?

Speaker 3 (46:19):
And he goes, gags, dude, and I go, if if this,
And I grabbed it by the top of the kneecap
which was in my thigh, and I grabbed my calf
and I go and it just slid right in pops
straight up. Yeah, And then he saw the whole thing
and he goes, dude, it was so funny. I remember,

(46:45):
I screamed, dude.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
I go, yeah, my gosh, you just can it just
pop back in? Yes?

Speaker 5 (46:52):
It did.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
Hasn't popped out since.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
Wow. Man.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
But there's a picture out there somewhere from that that
that day. So the ambulance had to ride up on
the track and it kind of blocked me and the
the grandstands, and so nobody knew what was going on.
Everybody just knew it was me. And so they got
me on the gurney and they're taking me around the
ambulance right now, and now the grandstands are right there

(47:18):
and know everybody you could hear pen drop. Everyone's waiting
to see me do something, and there's a picture out
there somewhere and me going and then everybody goes.

Speaker 4 (47:30):
It was electric.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
But the third time, it's way better than my knee story.

Speaker 1 (47:36):
When I was in UH, I was playing middle school
football and the same thing I got I was blocking
the outside came in to me.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
I rolled over.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
Next thing I know, I'm getting picked up off the
field and carried off the field and I was like,
I was like, oh man, this is great.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
I don't have to walk. And I looked down and
it was a woman that went to our church. Yeah,
it's hilarious. She carried my ass off of the field.
I was like, put me down. I was like, no,
I really need That's great.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
No.

Speaker 4 (48:07):
The third time, it was a post over the middle and.

Speaker 3 (48:11):
Yeah, same thing. Whole foot was where you like laying
on the field and you're like, yeah, man, well dude, okay,
story behind that actually. So everything was going great in
college and I just had gotten Scout player the year
because I read shirted my first year and the coaches

(48:32):
were like, hey, you're going to be the number one
receiver for the next four years.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
Here we go.

Speaker 4 (48:37):
I was like, all right, let's roll. Yeah, this is
what I came here to do.

Speaker 2 (48:39):
For sure.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
My I mean, school was terrible. I went to college
to play football and so like, hey, they're going You're
gonna be the guy for the next four years.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
And I was like, all right.

Speaker 3 (48:50):
So we started practicing and you know, everything was going great,
and uh, you know, then I started getting this feeling
that it wasn't.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
So I'm just off, you know, within me and.

Speaker 2 (49:02):
First year, second year, it was the.

Speaker 3 (49:04):
First This is all during the first year, like towards
the end, so spring ball was coming up or we're
in Spring Bowl, and I just didn't feel right and
I didn't feel like I was on like the right path.
And you know I was. I was feeling very you know,
I was partying a lot, and you know it was
just party football. I hang out with my friends. Yeah,
you know, I grew up very religious. My grandpa was
a past year. But I felt like super convicted, little unfulfilled, unfulfilled,

(49:26):
you know, and uh, I meant for something like I
wasn't doing the right thing even though everything.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
That I wanted was going correctly. And what a weird
feeling too, by the way. Weird, like when everything is
going right and you still feel like you're not where
you're supposed to be.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Yeah, but you can't be I mean like you gotta
you got to be in tune with yourself to even
you know, like you got to be in focus enough
and dialed enough to even realize that that's going on.

Speaker 4 (49:49):
Yeah, for a while there, I wasn't and I was
totally you know, and I honestly I.

Speaker 2 (49:52):
Hadn't easy to do right.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
I hadn't prayed for a long time.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
Dude.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
I was just I was kind of just doing your
own thing. Yeah, not not the correct way. And I
remember I sat. I come home from practice one day
because the feeling was just too much. And I come
home from practice. I immediately put my stuff down in
the living room, I walk into my the I walk
into the bathroom, I closed the door.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
I sit down, and I.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Just start bawling. I just start weeping, and and I go, hey, man,
I know it's been a while, but I need I
need help. I need a sign or something. I don't,
you know, everything's going correctly, it just doesn't feel right
and I need to talk to you, and I need
a sign from you, and I remember drawing myself up

(50:40):
after like five ten minutes of just sitting there bawling. Dude,
draw myself up, walk out, go to bed, wake up.
Went to class the next day, which I didn't do.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
Often, like hey, you're kicked out of school.

Speaker 3 (50:58):
I went to class the next day, normal day, walked
in the locker room, through my paths, walked out to
the the field, warmed up. Everything was going like it
usually does. Very first play. I run a post over
the middle, break my leg in three places. Geez, very
first play. My first thought was this really hurts a lot.

(51:22):
And my second thought was that's my sign right there.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
Wow, I quit on the forty was your third thought, like, dang,
bro it could have been like you could have sprayed
my ankles, wouldn't listen, that's right, broke in one place,
wouldn't have listened, probably wouldn't wouldn't have listened. As a
good I mean, that's a that's a good way to wait,
to say that got your attention enough to go okay, man,

(51:45):
I've just asked for.

Speaker 2 (51:46):
Okay, three places, I get it. I'm out. Yeah, yeah,
for sure. That's so. Sometimes it takes that though. Sometimes
it takes more than just a sprainer, you know, to
change the old.

Speaker 4 (51:57):
Yeah, within twelve hours, I ask God for a sign.

Speaker 2 (52:02):
He gave you, and he gave me one, gave you
three of them, actually three of them in places reminded
had never ask.

Speaker 4 (52:10):
That's a dangerous game too.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
He knows. I'm sarcastic, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (52:15):
So had it been on your mind, like, did you
feel like at that moment, like do you feel like
God was pointing you to Nashville?

Speaker 3 (52:24):
No?

Speaker 2 (52:24):
Or did that come later?

Speaker 3 (52:25):
No? I mean, and really, leaving college and leaving football
wasn't really on my mind either. I just needed a
sign of what to do. And as soon as that happened, like, yes,
this hurt a lot, but like this overwhelming feeling of
I I don't clicked, I know what I need to
do now, and I pretty much quit right there on

(52:45):
the forty six forty seven yard line.

Speaker 2 (52:47):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
And you know I didn't tell anybody, but yeah, went home,
got surgery, came back packed all my stuff. Talked to
my coach. His name was Chuck Mrrell. At the time,
I said, Hey, I can't do this no more. He goes,
you got a plan, I said, nope, probably just get
a job somewhere, work at the mill, back at home. Yeah,
and he goes, make sure, make sure you got a

(53:10):
plan before you want you make sure you want to
do this, and uh I go, I don't really have one,
but I know I can't be here, and he goes,
I respect that.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
Then I walked out, shook his hand. He goes, good
luck to you, and I walked out. Wow, So then
how'd you get here? Uh?

Speaker 4 (53:28):
So I moved back home.

Speaker 3 (53:31):
And I was still super lost, and I ended up
getting surgery and I was I waited a couple of
weeks to heugh, and then I got a job and
then I was working for a little bit, and I
still didn't feel right. You know, I felt better, and
I knew that I made the right decision, but it's
something in me. And I remember sitting my mom down

(53:52):
and uh I was like, hey, because me and my
mom are tied, we're super cool. And uh I talked
to her pretty us about everything, and I sit her down.

Speaker 4 (54:03):
I go, mom, I'm not doing good. She goes, I know.

Speaker 2 (54:07):
I go, I don't.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
I don't know what I'm doing with my life. She goes, well,
have you tried praying about it? I said, every day,
you know, I still just don't feel right, and she goes, well,
when's the last time you picked up your guitar or
sitting from the piano. She was like, that was your
therapy years ago. Come on, mom, Yeah, I'm not kidding
about I'm not kidding about any of this. And so

(54:32):
I was like, you know, you're probably right, And then
we talked for a little bit, and then she was
working graveyard at the mill, so she had to go
to work, so it was just me in the house
that night, and I remember sitting down, your mom sounds awesome,
she's the ship, She's awesome. But I remember sitting down.
I wrote my first song that night. Didn't know what
I was doing. It was a terrible song, but I

(54:54):
was hooked, and I just started writing a bunch, kind
of getting back into music and perfecting my craft again.
And and then I remember sitting her down, probably like
seven months later, eight months later, I was like, I
want to do this, and she goes, go do it.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
Wow, what cool?

Speaker 5 (55:08):
Mom?

Speaker 2 (55:10):
You moved to Nashville. Did you start doing arounds or
how did you how'd you get out? How'd you meet people?

Speaker 3 (55:15):
Drinking at the bars? Really? Yeah, like I would so
I didn't know anybody, and I would go to the bars.

Speaker 2 (55:21):
But you just knew Nashville is where you had to be.

Speaker 4 (55:24):
Yeah, I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (55:25):
I had a feeling, you know, and I knew that
music was here, and I knew I had this dream
of you know, yeah doing it, doing it, and I
knew this was like my best shot where people are
doing it, where people are doing it, and you know,
I would. I would go to the bars by myself,
sit there, order a shot a fireball and a bush

(55:46):
light or whatever, and sit there and hang out and say, hey,
I'm talking where you're from. You know.

Speaker 4 (55:52):
Luckily, I was very blessed to meet the people that
I did.

Speaker 3 (55:57):
When when I did, like super early on, like my
best friend someone on my roommates, my neighbors right now
and we're all super tight, cool, we'll be forever best friends. Yeah,
you know, I met them probably like a month or two,
in which I'm super blessed.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
Do you feel like, uh, right now in your career
do you feel that feeling that you didn't feel on
the football field. Do you feel that now? Like do
you do you feel fulfilled?

Speaker 1 (56:20):
Do you feel like you're exactly where you need to
be every day really every day and wild man, you.

Speaker 4 (56:26):
Won't feel like that twenty four to seven.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
Sure with anything, you know, but even if I'm you know,
kind of having an off day where it's like, dang,
I'm tired, or you know, some things aren't going right up,
I get up on stage and I'm like, is it.
This is what I want to do for the rest
of my life, even if I'm broke doing it, I'm
gonna do it.

Speaker 2 (56:46):
You know what a cool story, man, That's great. That's
a great story and prophising, right, you know, like supportive
of you. Yeah, yeah, I love too. I love you
like I need a caller for a pep talking about
my life. But to have somebody that supportive, like, it's
so especially in this business or in this dream. I mean,

(57:10):
it's you have to have somebody that champions you know you,
not even just your songs, but more like just champions
you because dude, I mean I think about it all
the time with my kids, Like I'm sitting there, you know,
like this last week I was, I was in a
beach chair rocking my son to sleep at the beach

(57:33):
and I'm like, man, I wonder if he'll remember this.
You know what I mean. But like, even if he
doesn't remember it, it's he he will know that I
support him just by doing that over and over and
over and over. It's just like you do with your mom.
You know, she probably has supported you since you were born.
Oh yeah, you know. There was never like a time
where she was like, maybe you should just stay home.

(57:55):
She's always like, go chase me. And my mom's.

Speaker 3 (58:00):
The kind of woman that worked three jobs at a time.
Just still.

Speaker 2 (58:03):
She was just talking about her working graveyard dog.

Speaker 4 (58:06):
Yeah, growing up.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
Do you have some brothers and sisters?

Speaker 3 (58:10):
I have four sisters.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
Man, she's doing all she can for y'all five.

Speaker 3 (58:14):
Growing up, she worked three jobs at a time. She
was a corrections officer, bounty hunter. She's bad.

Speaker 1 (58:25):
I think she did give me a story, a story
bounty hunter story from your mom.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
She tells us one all the time.

Speaker 3 (58:32):
Yes, so when she was your mom is so cool.
So she tells me the story and she got that
dog in her it sounds I mean now she's she's
getting older and she's in her u uh, probably still
in there though.

Speaker 2 (58:52):
Yeah, I wouldn't piss her off. So she was pregnant
with me.

Speaker 3 (58:59):
And she he had I'm not going to drop names,
but she had this guy in in custody, and uh,
they're going to they're going to the precinct to you know,
book him and stuff like that. And he started complaining
about chest pains. And I'm probably watching this story, but
I'm gonna try to tell her the best I can.

(59:19):
He started complaining about chess chest pains in the back
of the squad car, and she was like, well, all right,
so she radio it in chest pains, I I legally
have to take him to the hospital even if he's lying.

Speaker 1 (59:33):
So that's like a scape that is that a long
a hack? Is that like a cop hack? Like you
just go, oh, I got chest pains. That way they
have to they have to, yeah wow, because I mean
they don't want you to die on.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
Whatever. But uh so they they go to the hospital.
They're in there and they're like, hey, he's having chest pains,
YadA YadA. In the hospital now knows what's going on,
trying to just stall or whatever. And so they do
their thing in there.

Speaker 4 (01:00:03):
They start walking out and he starts like, you.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Know, being a little sketchy. Yeah yeah, yeah, and uh
she goes so in the old squad cars, you have
to reach around and unlock from the inside.

Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
Over the front door. Reach around, Yeah, open.

Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
The front door to unlock the back. And so she
was doing that while he's in you know, cuffs. I'm
pretty sure he had the chain cuffs on too. She
was doing that kind of keeping an eye. And as
soon as she went like this, starts taking off running
and she's probably six months pregnant with me at this whole. Yeah,
and so she immediately goes, we gotta run her whatever

(01:00:44):
that code is, starts chasing after him, meets up with
him at six months pregnant.

Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Down to the ground. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
Dude, takes him out, ends up getting help, and then
takes him back to the thing. But the funniest part
about this, so there was one of my my mom
and dad were together and they were both correction officers,
and they get to the jail and my dad walks in,
walks past the cell. Apparently he got a beat and
put on him because he gave my mom a hard time.

(01:01:17):
She was very respected within you know the jail. Te Yeah,
they didn't mess around. Wow, they gave her a hard time,
knowing that she was pregnant. Put the boats to him. Dang,
My dad walks up to the cell and you know,
I don't know if you've ever seen it, but you
got sells all around.

Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
He goes famous Amos.

Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
His name was Amos or something like that, and he
goes famous Amos here he's got your.

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Ass beat by a woman last night, laughing.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Oh that's great, man. He shout out to mom.

Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
He's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Man, shout out to mom. That's awesome. All right. We
got a lot of dad stories, not much mom stories.
I'm glad we got that one. That's a good one.
So what's it like?

Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
I mean, you just had your number one, your first
number one will wind up missing you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
What song was massive? By the way, heard it everywhere? Yeah,
it's a great song. Yeah. I love those guys, Thomas
Archer and all his cats. I love his cats. Man
riding with him today actually, and I will I will? Uh?
Three two one? Is it radio?

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Making waves already? What's what's it been like? Has it
surpassed your expectations so far? Are you you feel like
you know you still got more to prove, Like you
got your debut album dropping.

Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
Of Rocket Shippy too a little bit as like took off.
It took pretty quick.

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, obviously I've got stuff to prove,
but more so to myself, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
Yeah, I mean I.

Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
Gotta wake up and do what I love every day.
I got to create for a living, and that's the
coolest thing in the world. But yeah, in a lot
of ways, I just I just got here. You think
about stiffels new a little bit. Yeah, Well, because I
am new and I and I'm green, and I got
a lot to learn. And that's what I'm focusing on
right now is just you know, being a sponge in
every room. I can be sure, whether it's business, whether
it's touring, whether it's you know, songwriting, with whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
And I will never stop trying to learn, you know, because.

Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
But I think about a year ago today, I was
in a Janki room with two of my buddies, a
guitar player and a and a drummer.

Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
It's just us three.

Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
Two songs, winded, a whiskey and wind up missing you,
you know, rehearsing for the Cameron Marlow tour. Wow, dude,
scrounging everything we could scrounge to make a thirty minute set.

Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
You know, probably some what are we doing? That was?

Speaker 4 (01:03:40):
That was a year ago today.

Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
Wow, never toured, never played shows, really, just a handful
of songs and a big old dream, you.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
Know, yeah for sure. Well you know, and we say
this a lot here. It's like.

Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
It.

Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
It looks like it came easy, but in reality, like
you had to break your leg, you had to work
at home, you had to come up under your move
here not knowing anybody. Yeah, man, there's no money to
my name. Yeah. That's a tough that's a tough road man,
and it made it kind of turns you into who
you are today.

Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
I agree, pickle guitar, Let's just do it. You ain't
got to sing it, Tucker, I just want to. I'll
sing it. I just want to hear why I'm missing
you right now.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
Sing it.

Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Give it to me, dude.

Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
I never heard anybody else sing it back.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
All right, how about this? You sing it and then
let him singing it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Okay, okay, I'll take verse, you take court, Okay, okay.

Speaker 7 (01:04:39):
I listen to the song so many times when it
came out, No One man, love Man, another ball cap
on them boss too, underneath the peb Yond sing everything,
hold on the Moon, to get you in the mills,
to now you probably heard it off ol some times,

(01:05:00):
but it ain't look.

Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
Let me tell you the losel.

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
You look clad Webb's on the sunset and you can
crash on me. I don't mind you look glad wind
in a truck that little what I'm doing for the
rest of mind. I'm cooked.

Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
You look like I'm done looking.

Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
But girl, the hard truth this this and I don't
turn into you look like I'm gonna wind up missing.

Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
Jam.

Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
Dude, that's just want to hear it, man, thank you,
thank you. That song for you is to congratulations.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Man, it's a long hard road to get to that thing. Man,
you've seen that song to girls. I seen that song
to turkeys. I'm gonna wind up missing just a certain.

Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
Turkey you remember missing but really just gets you every
see every I mean you me, it's a lot of turkeys. Brother.

Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
One was this is right when we started like the
Brothers thing, and and we were doing our own podcast,
not this one at all, and uh pro and and
anything that happened like outside that somebody wanted to be
involved with us at all was the biggest deal in
the world. So one time n w TF was like

(01:06:16):
Pete Bueler, Yeah, he was. Pete was like, Hey, we
want to do a special on y'all, like national songwriters
doing this like brother brand hunting thing. And we were like,
what the world, man, we're calling, you know, like playing
it cool, like, oh, Pete Man, thanks dude, that's an
add calling.

Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
You're like, dude, we made it, you know, like they're
gonna send it. We're gonna send a film crew down here.
We're gonna turkey hunt. We're gonna bust turkeys in the face.
People are gonna see how awesome we aren't hunting, you know,
all this stuff. So they send a guy down, They
send a guy down. He's funny that we cared about that.

Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
At the time much we cared about He sent a
guy down and spent like two or three days with
us and and trying to trying to get on turkeys
and have some great hunts.

Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
It was also the worst weather of all time. Yeah, bad,
like rainy weather.

Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Super He had like one day left and we did
we'd already done all the interviews, and we just did
not think it was gonna happen, like killing turkey was
gonna happen. And we were kind of like we're like, oh,
you know what, man, like, it's okay. It's it's part
of turkey hunting. It's it's kind of what happens is
you don't you don't get them in twenty yards, like
every time you hunt. So last day he's like, boys,
I got tomorrow. Then I got a bounce smart afternoon.

(01:07:20):
Last day, we go to a new spot. Our buddies like, man,
this bird's fired up. Come on, let's get on him.

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
We go.

Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
Camera guy goes with us. We see we driving around,
See the turkey in the field. We parked the truck,
get in this like go behind behind this turkey, like
south of this turrack, get on this two track up
to this power line and get in the woods.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
And we're like, man, he wants to be here. I
know he wants to be here. He's alone.

Speaker 1 (01:07:44):
We start just yeah, being being quiet, being soft, being
being sneaky about it, and uh, bird starts goblin. He
starts working through this timber. Perfect. They're like, read, sit
up right here, cameraman's right here. He's gonna walk down
this two track busting when he turns in this thing
right to it. So I was like, perfect, I just
put a red dot on my gun and I shot
it a couple of times, and because I had been
missing turkeys, like.

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
It's just kind of missing turkeys.

Speaker 1 (01:08:07):
Yeah, yeah, and uh and so this this bird sure
enough comes into this this two track just and when
they gobble, like when they gobble away from you, it's awesome,
But when they're tied on you, especially in the hardwoods,
and they're gobbling at you, bro, it's a different feeling.
So with the pro camera, this turkey's looking This turkey's
looking at us, gobbling at us.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
We know he's right here sure enough.

Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
Watching the film later, dude, he like pops his head
up over this and he's just walking down. It is gorgeous,
perfect like what you see on the outdoor channel. Turns
down in. Dan's just soft yelping, I'll getting goblin. Camera
fifteen yards turns you see me, you see me? Pull up,
I'm right here. Camera shot perfect over my shoulder.

Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
Dan goes right killing and I was like, all right,
put it up. You see the wide and the shot
of my shotgun fly right by this turkey. Yeah, just
go takes off and like of Dan, and Dan's laying

(01:09:09):
on the ground looking at it. He goes, there's no
way you just missed that. Turkey. There's no way you
just missed that. Goodness, that's what I think about. That
was a brutal miss Yeah, that was that was that was. Yeah,
and we're missing spree right there. For a year, I missed.
I missed a few turkeys. Yeah. How did you clean that?
You got excited?

Speaker 1 (01:09:28):
Yeah, I mean I just got excited and you just
took the red dog red dot off you did. Yeah,
and now I just shoot straight, you know, Barrel.

Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
That's right. I just put one more. But don't miss
turkeys anymore. That's the thing of the past. We'll see.
We'll see if Tucker winds up missing one baby. Yeah,
hey man, can we talk about the new record. It's great.

Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
We got a little sneak. Listen to it on the
way in. And you don't have to go into this
if you don't want to, because I know you said earlier.
It's like conversation for a different time.

Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
But like it took some It felt like naming the
naming the record. What you did and and that song
that took some took some balls.

Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
It feels like it's like the very vulnerable thing for
you to sing about, to talk about you name your
record after it.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Wow, Okay, first off, what's the name of the song?
Why not? Why Not? So yeah, great song. That's a
great song. At first, very real song.

Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
I didn't want to at first, you know, and I
wanted to, uh, you know, I wanted to just be
a song on the record, kind of like a deep cut,
you know, if you know about it, you know about
it kind of thing. I didn't want to really bring
a light to it because you know, it's talking about
what it's talking about, and uh, you.

Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
Know, I don't really talk about that stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
But then I started thinking about it, started thinking about
the album as a whole, and it just made the
most sense. You know, the whole album is just about
and learning and you know, who I am as a person,
why I am the way I am. You know, I
feel like everything happened so fast last year that nobody
really got to know me for sure, and you know,

(01:11:11):
this is my chance to, uh, you know, kind of
let people in on who I am and why I
am the way I am, and where I come from
and in my roots and my upbringing and all that stuff.
And the song really, you know, kind of put it
as a whole, and it made the most sense, you know,

(01:11:32):
like living and learning, like learning what not to do
by watching you know, others do wrong things or yourself
or whatever it is. And it just made the most
instant name it what Not To And I'm happy that
I did. But at first I was hesitant because I
didn't want to make it seem like a focus of
everything because there's so many great tracks.

Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
And yeah, I'm I'm happy I did. That's great. That's great.

Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
I mean, that's it's it's unbelievable. Man, The whole record
is awesome. Do you you There was a quote that says,
I didn't want this album to be just songs.

Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
I want them to be songs with a purpose, Like
like me, there's more to music than just streaming and
sales numbers on the page.

Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
Music makes you feel something. When I was going through
things as a kid, I turned the music and it
didn't let me down. I hope What Not To Do
or What Not To does the same thing for everyone
who listens. Do you think it's gonna do that? I said,
I think it's the other man said, I'm pretty smart.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
Yeah you said that. If you didn't you did, you know?

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Bro, that's a very common It feels like that's a
like a because I feel the same way, right, Like,
like when I write songs, and not every time, but
but you get those you get into those rooms and
an idea comes up where it feels kind of special
and bigger than bigger than just songs, yeah, just a radio.
It feels bigger than an opportunity to say something that

(01:12:56):
makes somebody's gonna feel something or help somebody or you know,
let somebody feel a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Part of the reason we all, I think, moved to.

Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
Town is to write songs like that and create projects
like that, Like did do you feel Are you excited
about the opportunity to put something out it's going to
do that for somebody.

Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Yeah, dude, I mean that's my That's been my whole goal.
And I've been looking forward to creating an album for
as long as I can remember. You know, I grew
up a very album based listener, and I love you know.
The way I kind of explained is like a songwriting
within songwriting, you know, you know, all the way down
to the track listing and being intentional with like this
song goes here, this was hearing that.

Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
The way I kind of explain it is like I feel.

Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
Like I created a puzzle and I cut out all
the pieces and I threw it all in a box
and I shook it up and I said, here you go,
you know, and like everything, everything goes together, and it's
it's the coolest thing.

Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
Man, that's cool, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
And like music is.

Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
Subjective, but at the same time, if it makes somebody
feel something, it's probably making another person feel the same. Sure,
And that's what music is about. And that's what I
want to create, is stuff that makes you feel something.
Because you think about like the beginning of time of music,
it was all just feeling. Yeah, you know, there wasn't
no streaming, there wasn't no nothing. They did it because

(01:14:16):
they love to do it, and it made it kind
of what we're talking about. No rules, there's no rules.
They're just doing what it feels good, an escape for
whatever you're using it for. And uh, you know, I
think there's beauty in that. And you know, obviously you're
gonna need like the heavy hitters and you know if
you want, you know, a long lasting career.

Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
But I think.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
The the people that really love music and like the
true fans of what you're doing, they're going to relate
more to the what not to the body of work,
Whiskey Whiskey agains all these other songs on the on
the record, But I'm proud of it, man, and dude,
this is one of those This is one of those
things that I've done in my career that I'm going

(01:14:58):
to look back ten years from now and I'm gonna
be like, yeah, you were super green and you were
super new, but I'm still.

Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Proud of what I did.

Speaker 5 (01:15:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
Sure, absolutely, And I think I think that says something.

Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
It definitely does. I mean a body of work to
me is it's more important, uh, to a career than
a hit. I agree, you know, And if you're able
to do that in your in your record, I think
people will appreciate that and it'll go a long way,
I hope so well.

Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
I think you absolutely did it, and I think your
fans are are They're gonna love it, and I think
people who aren't your fans are gonna love it and
you're gonna gain more and uh, it does feel like
a rocket ship.

Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
Man. You're you're crushing it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
You're uh, you know, you're you're you're doing your thing
trying to Yeah, man, it Uh, it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
Appreciate you spend time with us today. Will you give
us a gravorite? Will you give us a gravorite? Just
a you know, just a tune that kind of meant
something to you, dude. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
When I first started playing uh guitar and learned how
to play and sing of the same time. Uh, one
of the first songs was Whiskey and You. Yeah, that's
one of my favorite songs of all time.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
Make sure I can give us a little bit of it.

Speaker 3 (01:16:09):
Yeah, right now, get you want, Yeah, I'll do it.
I don't know, I'll mess around with it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
Yeah, mess round with it.

Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
Staple Ton decent singer. He did all right, singing like him,
he did all right. Yeah, shit, you good? I got you.
Do what you need to do.

Speaker 3 (01:16:33):

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
Words?

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
You got it?

Speaker 4 (01:16:41):
I think I got it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:46):

you want to come on the road because I knew

(01:20:03):

artist stuff and nice, you know, drop some music and
