Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Hey it's Delilah. Are you a dreamer? Do you dream big?
I'm a dreamer. I am always dreaming new dreams. My
problem is sometimes I don't always follow through well more
than sometimes. But there are some thoughtful people who have

(00:39):
helped me to make some of those dreams come true.
Some very thoughtful people who have helped me put the
foundation beneath the dreams that I dreamed in the clouds.
Are you a dreamer? Do you help other people to
make those dreams come true? I'm going to dream a

(01:00):
little dream with you, Ashland. What can I do for you?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
I wanted to play a song for the ones who
are supporting because I went through a rough time and
right now I'm currently getting my GED and getting myself
back on track.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Tell me what you've come through and how far you've
made it to the other side.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
I'm nineteen.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
I had a few health issues, so I ended up
dropping out of school and now I am working my
way back up. I am taking the GED course right now.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
And how's your health today? Is that improved.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yes, So tell me the people that have stood by
your side, that believed in you, that encouraged you, that
didn't let you give up when maybe you felt like
giving up.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
There's my mom and my dad, my Graham and my
best friend.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
You know, with people like that in your corner, who
believe in you, who cheer you on, who say, don't
give up, you can accomplish anything.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Now that you're getting your ged, are you going on
to college, are you going into the workforce? What are
you doing?

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I'm going to try and actually go into the military,
into the Marine Corps.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
That's really taking a huge challenge.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Well.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
See, I come from a military family and that's always
something I've wanted to do.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Wow, good for you. Hi, Welcome to the Delilah Show.
Who is this Hi? I'm Stephanie who is on your
heart tonight?

Speaker 6 (02:50):
My friend Anna?

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Okay, tell me about Ana and what I can do
for her.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
Well, I met her this past year at college. It
was my first year away away at college, away from home,
and we just became very good friends, very fast. She's
just been a wonderful friend to me. But she has
to transfer next year to another school and hopes that's

(03:16):
becoming an architect, so she's following her dreams, and I
really just want to wish her well since we're going to.

Speaker 8 (03:23):
Be far apart.

Speaker 7 (03:24):
But she's just been such a good friend to me.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
So is this the kind of friend that you hope
to have for a lifetime?

Speaker 6 (03:30):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
I am blessed to have some of those friends. Yeah,
that we didn't get to share a lot of time
together when we were living close by, we've stayed close
in our hearts.

Speaker 6 (03:43):
I love that, Yes, exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
And I hope that, especially now, you can stay so
close so easily.

Speaker 7 (03:52):
Yeah, I'm definitely hoping to do that.

Speaker 6 (03:56):
There's there's plenty of ways, so we'll visit each.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Other, all right, Honey, you have a good rest of
your summer.

Speaker 9 (04:03):
Oh thank you, Crystal, Hi.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Thank you for calling the Delilah Show. What can I
do for you?

Speaker 8 (04:19):
I would like to recuest a song from my mother.
She has put up with so much for me. She
adopted me. She hasn't everything from put clothes on my back,
food on the table, never had to go a day
without food, never had to worry about anything. And I
just want her to know that I love her. No
matter what, and I apologize for all the heartache I'll

(04:41):
put her through.

Speaker 10 (04:42):
And are you now coming out of that foolish rebellious
you don't know anything, you don't love me.

Speaker 8 (04:46):
Stage not there yet and I'm trying though there's many
nights she went to her room and cried, and I
just feel so bad, and I want her to know
that I love her before I go off to the army.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
I just want her to know that you're going into
the army.

Speaker 8 (05:00):
Yes, ma'am.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
You think your mom was tough on you?

Speaker 8 (05:04):
Yeah. They told me that they had nothing like Mom
at all.

Speaker 10 (05:08):
Now it's not like Mama, who's going to go in
the room and cry when you hurt her feelings.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
You hurt their feelings.

Speaker 10 (05:14):
In the army, you're gonna drop and give them fifty Yes.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
So you and mom have had a tough time of it.

Speaker 8 (05:22):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Did it start when you're always say fourteen fifteen?

Speaker 8 (05:26):
No, it actually started when she adopted me. I had
a big chip on my shoulder. I really did.

Speaker 10 (05:32):
So, even though she's loved you and cared for you
and laid down her life for you, or she would
you had a chip on your shoulder.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Yes, Were you in foster care.

Speaker 8 (05:41):
Yes, and I think that's where all that wall built
up around in foster care.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
How many years were you in the system?

Speaker 8 (05:48):
I was in there for about three years. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
That'll build some pretty ugly walls, won't it.

Speaker 8 (05:52):
Yes, it will.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
And now you're gonna go off to boot camp.

Speaker 10 (05:57):
Yes, and you don't want to leave with mom thinking
that you haven't appreciated all that she's done.

Speaker 8 (06:02):
Right, Yes, proud of you. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Let me play a song for your mama. Thank you
so much, Hi, Alicia, thank you for calling.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Hi, Delaiah, how are you?

Speaker 4 (06:20):
I'm good? What can I do for you?

Speaker 6 (06:22):
I just wanted to tell a short story and and
thank my mother for it, for all that she's done.
I just wanted to say that I just graduated University Dismay,
and that the road that I took to get there
was very, very long and very hard. I came across

(06:44):
some bumps in the road and basically was diagnosed with
a couple of different mental disabilities. And without the love
and support and mainly the prayers from my mom and
my dad, I don't believe I would have made it
as far as I did.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
So how long? How many years did it take? You
to get your degree.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
It took me five years, but it wasn't a normal
five years. I worked throughout the whole summer, every summer
that I was in college.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Okay, so it took you five years to get a
four year degree, Yes, it did. Pat yourself on the back.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Girl.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
It took me five years just to get a two
year degree.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
Well it was worth it. I'll have to say that
I'm going back in the fall for my masters.

Speaker 11 (07:29):
Really so proud of you, I think and hopefully you
will take your tenacity and your spirit and share it
with other young people who might be diagnosed with some
challenging issues and feel like giving up because I can
just tell that you're victorious.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
You're going to be victorious no matter what it is
you endeavor to do.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
Oh, that's where I hope, what I hope, so what
I hope will turn out.

Speaker 11 (07:51):
I will find a song for you and your strong
heart as you pursue heart disease and curing it.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
Well, I hope. I just wanted to say thank you
to my they're down at Oxford Health. She's been there
for me so much. So that was the main reason
I'd like to just call it. Just take a minute,
just to say thank you to her. She's meant a
lot to me, and she still means a lot to
me every day.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
All Right, you have a good night.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
I'll share more with you

Speaker 2 (08:23):
