Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you. On our daily podcast. You know, we
talk a lot about family and about friends on this show.

(00:22):
We talk about the most important people in our lives.
We also give a little credit to our furry friends
that keep us company, our family members with four legs.
Pets have a natural gift for making a smile, making
us happier, making us feel loved. If you have a
companion animal, give your dog or your cat or your

(00:42):
bird or whatever, it is an extra little bit of
love from me. Hi, you've called the Delilah Show. Who
is this? How you Mark? I'm wonderful? What can I
do for you? I'm actually because my girlfriend and I
always listened to your show at night, and we actually
have a little girl coming in two weeks on this Saturday. Congratulations,

(01:04):
you've picked the two dates so that means Mama is
having a c section though she's not. It's actually a
puppy for our first step. That was a good one.
And what kind of puppy is this. It's a little Morky.
It's a Maltese and a Yorkie and we just wanted

(01:26):
to tell you first, we're so excited because we listened
to you every night and we just lay in bed
and just listen to you and enjoy you and we
love you. So I'm I'm kind of like a godmother.
Then two Morky, Yeah, yes you are. Then kind of. Well,
congratulations Dad, thank you, and we just want to thank
you for every night you do just that. You just

(01:46):
entertain that so many nights and just make us happy
and just appreciate what we have. Stephanie, this is Delilah.
Welcome to the show. What can I do for you?
I was wanting to tell you a story about my
dog Anna. Okay, tell me about your Anna. Well, I
was coming home one day from school and it was raining.

(02:09):
It was in August, and there was this like really
skinny dog on her porch and she was really old
and she was badly wounded, and so I thought I'd
just let her in, but I wasn't really thinking about
keeping her anything. And a few months later she was
still at her house and she was a really kind
of dog. A few months later when she still was

(02:31):
living there, and you went, I guess I've adopted a dog. Yeah,
our neighbors had gotten these two dogs, and I had
no idea that they had just gotten invisible fence that day.
So I let my dogs out, which I have two
Jack Russells, and Anna is like a really small greyhound mix,

(02:52):
and my male dog, Archie. He went flying across the
yard and he started coming back screaming. And there's these
two when shepherds chase them and so and I went
out there and she ate like headbudded one of them,
knocking them away from Archie, and she saved him twice.
And when I went out there to try to get her, like,

(03:13):
they started coming at me, but she put her a
little self right in between us, and luckily the owners
came back before they could hurt her at all. But
I just thought it was really neat how she saved
me and Archie. And so she saved your little dogs,
and then she saved you. Yeah you think maybe she
knew that you had saved her life and she was
willing to do the same. Yeah, there was there was.

(03:34):
I wouldn't have let her inside my house, but there
was just something about her that told me she was special.
I got a note from a listener named Fran who
had to say goodbye to their dear friend, their sweet
Golden Retriever Abby yesterday, and I just wanted to knowledge

(04:00):
your note, Fran, and anyone else who's had a loss,
especially a loss of a companion animal, because when you
love a dog, when you love a cat, when you
love a horse. I love all my animals, I do.
And when you experience that kind of loss, people look
at you weird, if you're crying or if your heart
is breaking, But those are huge losses because they become

(04:25):
a part of your heart, a part of your family. So, Fran,
thank you for writing I'm sorry for your loss. I
will be here to comfort to you and to encourage you. Rick,
what can I do for you. I've got in love
with lady well next to you know, we're married, two kids,
the mortgage email, the rest, and it was beautiful, It's great.

(04:47):
She's an awesome woman, Rick, what's her name, Lisa? And
she she did something for me that was that was incredible.
Fourteen years ago when we met, we we adopted a
dog from an animal shelter and I had this dog
with me for fourteen years and we had to put
her down last night, and it was the most intense
thing I've ever gone through. Thanks to you, I'm okay

(05:09):
to cry, and man, I've never cried so much. But
when you've shared your life with a companion pet and
it's a part of your family, I gotta tell you
choose my best friend? She really was. Anyway, It's a
very rare occasion that I can express my appreciation for
somebody that I admire, and I really appreciate this opportunity

(05:32):
to share that with you. Hi, you've called the Delilah Show.
Who is this? Hi, Delilah, Debbie, Welcome aboard. What can
I do for you? Debbie? Oh, I've been trying since
May to get a hold of you. Two years ago
I listened to your radio station and you wished my

(05:55):
husband anniversary's twenty nine years and now thirty one. And
the story is as two people that I love, dear
and a dog who's taking care of me because I
have nerve damaging my my feet and they've been there
for me, my husband and my daughter and we just
got our dog, Princess, and she seems to know, you know,

(06:18):
I walk with the cane and knows you know, how
I feel and stuff, And if I'm sad, she's there.
My husband's helped me out, and my daughter's helped me out,
taking me places and stuff, and I love them very much.
And what are their names? But and Jamie Anne, my
dog princess. Okay for but Jamie Anne and little Princess.

(06:41):
Let me find a good song for you. Okay, dull illah,
you're so sweet. I have your book too, which one
one heard at a time, Yes, one heard at a time.
My daughter got it for my birthday, my birthday, but yeah,
I wanted it so bad, and so I want to
tell you, you you know, I just love you, and I

(07:02):
listened to you all the time, and you know and
because of you, you know, you you made my life,
you know a little bit easier listening to you. You
are so sweet and boy, you are surrounded with folks
that love you. Let me tell you. We're thirty one
years now married and you know, my daughter's thirty and

(07:22):
even though she works and everything, she still does stuff
for me and my husband you know, or cook. You know,
he cleans for me. If I can't do something, he
does it. And I try to do something, they get
mad at me. It's just they touch my heart. Well.
Blessings to your whole family and especially to your fur
baby little princess, and you take care and and your

(07:45):
family and everything too. I love hearing the stories that
you have. Thank you. I received a letter from a
listener that just touched my heart. Although it is sad,
it's also kind of funny and heartwarming at the end.
Uh D writes, My husband and I had your radio
on every night for years. We had an ongoing thing.

(08:06):
Every night. Harry would say, Wow, I bet she's some
sexy chick and a good looking blonde ha ha, And
my comeback would be, yeah, right, if you ever saw her,
you would flip out because you're just dreaming, honey. We
would laugh and joke about it every night for many years. Well,
my Harry got cancer. He fought hard, but our Lord

(08:27):
took him home. Harry and I were blessed to be
soulmates for forty seven years. We had four really great kids.
They are my strength. Now life is hard to handle
at times without my honey. Where Harry and I lived,
we could not have pets and I couldn't stay in
our home without him. So I sold the house and

(08:47):
I got a tiny little female dog at eight weeks old,
as she Pooh. I named her after something that my
husband and I joked about daily. My dog's name is Delilah.
As soon as she turned one year old, she started
training school to be a therapy dog. We do nursing homes,
assisted living rehabs, children's reading programs, the Deaf Academy. She

(09:11):
visits shut ins. She does so much for so many. Delilah,
she has loved to give, and she's a great kisser.
I know Harry would be proud and love the fact
that I named her after his sexy Delilah on the radio.
I just thought you would enjoy my little story of hope.
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as

(09:33):
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday on Hey It's Delilah.
