Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. Do hi there.
How are you're feeling beat up by life? Are you
(00:23):
feeling exhausted? Are you feeling like you wish you could
just lay your head down in Mom's lap and have
her play with your hair, kiss your cheek. I'm not
your mama, I can't replace her. But if you're hurting,
(00:45):
if you're sad, if you're grieving, I'm here to listen,
and I can hold you in my heart and I
can offer a degree of support. I am here to
remind you that you're not alone. Don't forget that. Hello,
(01:08):
good evening, you've called the Delilah Show. Who was this?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Hello?
Speaker 3 (01:13):
My name is Marcy.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
What can I do for you?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Well, I would like you to play a song from
my husband.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Tell me who your hobby is and what you want
him to know.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
That's a loaded questions. Oh, he passed away fourteen months ago.
We were together twenty eight years.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
He was a love of my life.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
His name was Jim.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
It still is it still is. Yeah, when you see
him again, That's what he'll be known. As I'm sure.
I'm sure, tell me about your hobby.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Oh. Around the time that I met him, I had
given up on love and had to may bad relationships,
and I was kicking my roommate out. Thought, well, I'm
going to have a spare room in my apartment. I
think I'll maybe take in a foster child, a teenager,
because nobody wants teenagers in the system. So I thought
(02:15):
that would be a good thing, and I was praying
about it. And I'm a musician. My husband was too,
and I was hostessing a jam session and he started
showing up to jam and he caught my attention. He
played guitar really beautifully. He was a handsome man, and
(02:40):
I noticed that he wasn't a drunk, which was unique.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
Which was unique back in the day in the music world.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Oh hello, Yeah. And we started talking a lot of
the jams, and he gave me his phone number at work,
and I would call and talk to him on his breaks,
and he tell me all these cold chokes, and he
started courting me. And then he told me that his
(03:10):
wife abandons him with three boys, and so instead of
getting one foster child, I ended up with three wonderful
step sons. And they have been wonderful, wonderful for me,
wonderful medicine.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Maybe God was preparing your heart when you were thinking
about taking in a troubled team. Maybe God was preparing
your heart. It sounds like for three, yeah, three kids
in life.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yes, I do believe that. I do believe that they've
given me grand babies. And it's been a joy, you know,
to have them in my life. And they're wonderful. Kids,
are all wonderful. I love them so dearly. And I
you know, when people ask me about my sons, I say, well,
(03:59):
I've got three boys that I don't have a stretch
market show four. But they're my boys, you know, And
I'm just so proud.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Of them all.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
They're just wonderful kids. And when my husband was courting me,
he came to my apartment. We lived like forty five
miles away from each other, and he came to my
apartment with a taste that he had made two songs.
One was Desperado and the other one was I Swear,
(04:31):
And he played them for me, and he sang along
with them, and he kept his promises, and I swear
he never broke my heart. Alzheimer's did, but my husband didn't.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I'm going to play that for you and your three
boys and your grandkids and your heart that is missing him.
But what a blessing, Yes, a real blessing. You have
a good night, and I'm sending you a big hug
and audio hug.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Thank you. I can feel it.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
God bless you on Hi, good evening. You've called the
Delilah Show. Who is this?
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Oh? My name is Clara. I lost my husband a
year ago and I really miss them terribly and my
heart is just broken over the situation. There's just no
words to say. I listened to you every night. We
used to listen to you every night. Now I'm just
(05:40):
like loss. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
I'm sure I don't, because although I have lost family members,
I have never lost my life partner except a divorce,
and then I was happy. But the loss that you're
feeling is the loss of half of you, Yes it is.
It's the loss of your memories that you shared together.
(06:07):
It's the loss of your traditions. It's the loss of
your best friend.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
We were married like eighteen years, and God gave me
eighteen years with him, So I just like every night
we used to just listen to you till we fell asleep,
and in spirit, I know he's still with me listening
to you, but not here in person. And I just
(06:35):
love everything that you do for everybody. And I just
wanted you to play a song for me, Dad, I
just eat something you know plays for him and I
vote together.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
What's your husband's name, Hun Charles, and I called him Chucky.
Tell me something about Chucky's character so that when God
calls me home, I'll recognize him right off the bat.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Well, he was tall gray. Here. Just just mention the
casino and he'll be like, that's me, that's me, that's me.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
So what was his favorite game?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Triple sevens, triple sevens.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Oh my god, triple sevens. And you know the only thing,
Delilah I have to say is that before he passed,
he wanted to go to the casino. And I try
to keep him safe from the COVID and everything. And
I used to say no, no, no, I wouldn't let
him gone to the store or nothing. But now I
regret not taking him into the casino because he had
(07:42):
to play his triple sevens.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Well, here's what you do. You go to the casino,
you play his triple sevens, and you let him know
because here's the thing, you were protecting him out of love.
I do the same thing with my family, And maybe
maybe I'm airing on the side of caution, but I
would rather err on the side of caution. Then what
(08:05):
if God forbid you had taken him and he had
gotten COVID and passed a year before or two years before,
you would have missed out on that time with him.
So don't beat yourself up for loving him and protecting him.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
I know, but I just still think that I should
have taken him one time.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. You should have done exactly
what you did. And now you got to go play
the triple sevens in his honor.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
That's it. So when you get to heaven or I
get to heaven, I'm just gonna hauler out cause you know,
triple sevens. And then I'll know it's him.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
And he'll come running. He'll say here I am.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yes, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
He's not going to come running. He's going to be waiting.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
But in the meantime, you've got work to do, or
you wouldn't still be here. God still has something he
needs you to do. And when you're work is done,
you'll go home too. Oh.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Yes, And I have to say that. My Chucky used
to say gaud was so good to both of us.
He would always say that constantly because he had grandchildren
and did not want us to be together. But we did.
We stayed together to Dickens in regardless of everybody, and
God was good to both of us. And God took
(09:25):
a good neendo.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Well, obviously you and I are not as good as
your Chuckie was.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
All right. Let me play a song for you. God
bless you and.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Thank you very much. Delilah.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
You're welcome, hon. I so hope you have enjoyed these
radio moments as much as I enjoy bringing them to you.
I'll share more with you each weekday on Ay, It's Delilah,
