Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to kit
Short Stories. Today's story comes to us from Mia. Hey Mia,
she sent me an awesome idea for a story, and
you can too. Just head of a kitdshort stories dot com.
Send me your idea and maybe we'll turn it into
an awesome adventure. And guess what, there's a new episode
of Spiology Squad, which is our one of our other

(00:24):
podcasts about a spy adventure where we learned some science
along the way. So when this story ends, head on
over to our Biology Squad podcast. Are you guys ready
for today's adventure?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Me too?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Let's go. It was a rainy day outside and Mia
was inside of her house, thankfully not soaking what outside
of the rain, but she was working on a volcano model.
Do you know what that means? She was like building

(00:56):
a volcano out of paper and and flour and kind
of this mix that turns it kind of into a concrete.
But it something that she's really good at because she's
a volcano expert. That means, you know, on the Spy team,
if they have some volcano problems, they usually call Mia
to solve them. And so she was working on a

(01:18):
volcano model to better understand how the lava flows out
the top end slides down the side of the mountain.
All right, I think it's timed for the blast off,
said Mia, adding the lava powder and the ignition. Here
it comes. Mia closed her eyes and plugged her ears.

(01:43):
It was sometimes a loud explosion, but this time it
was only just a p Instantly she was covered in
all OOHI gooey lava. What was that? Said Mia. She
turned around and realized it was her walkie talkie. Oh

(02:04):
I'm disgusting, I'm covered in all this. Okay, what do
I do? I guess I'll just press the button with
my pinky that seems to be my only clean finger.
Hea stretched out her hand and carefully touched the button
on the walkie talkie to play the message from HQ
without dripping all of that ooey, gooey, sticky lava juice

(02:25):
on her wakie talkie. Oh no worry, it wasn't real
lava juice. It was just, you know, the pretend stuff
for the experiment that she was making with her lava model.
As she pressed the button, the message said, Bia, this
is HQ. We have a volcano emergency. That we need
you to fix a sap deep in a jungle far away.

(02:47):
We have just discovered that there is a volcano that
is shooting seeds out of its mouth and growing more
and more volcanoes. We've never seen this happen before, but
we're gonna need you to figure out a way how
to stop that volcano from spreading and building more and
more volcanoes through its volcano seeds. We'll send you the

(03:09):
coordinates over and out. What how is that even possible,
said Mia. Volcanoes don't have seeds. That's not how it works.
Maybe it's just a misunderstanding. I don't know, but all right,
model volcano, I will see you later. I gotta get
my jetpack and go save the world. Mia ran to

(03:32):
her room, grabbed her spy gear, threw in her jet pack,
and blasted out the front door shm. She punched in
the coordinates, which would give her perfect directions to go
all the way to the right jungle. There's a lot
of jungles in the world, and you don't want to
go to the wrong one, because, uh, you'll get lost
very easily. After several hours of flying, Mia saw up

(03:57):
ahead the problem was actually real. Holy smoke.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Sweet, what is that?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
She reached for a back pocket and pulled out some binoculars,
held them up to her eyes and zoomed in. What
it really is shooting some kind of seed in holy smokes,
that seed just instantly turned into another volcano. Oh dear,
there's one, two, three, four. Oh wow, that's a lot

(04:24):
of volcanoes already. She was right. There was this ginormous
of volcano that must have been like the mother of
all volcanoes. And it was like spitting out what looked
like a seed, But these seeds were very large, much
bigger than an apple seed, more like the size of

(04:45):
a watermelon. And they flew across the sky and landed
on a hillside an instantly flashed. A volcano just popped
out the side of that hill, and it started leaking
out real love, dondontong, I gotta fly closer to get

(05:05):
a better look. Me assumed closer to that big, big volcano,
And as she got closer and closer, it started to
talk to her.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Do not calm any closer unless you want to be
burned by love. It surprised Mia to hear that volcano.
Wait a second, did it just sing? She said, volcanoes
can't sing. Oh, yes we can, and we do.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Okay, But what you can't just keep spreading your seeds
everywhere like this and making more volcanoes. I can't have
my entire world covered by volcanoes. That would not be
safe for all the people.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Well, you see, I live in a jungle where there's
nobody here but me.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
It was at that moment that Mia realized that this
volcano was not a monster. It was not trying to take.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Over the world.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
It was just very lonely. And since volcanoes can't move
around to go find new friends, I guess this one
decided to start making its own new friends right here.
Oh you just want some other volcano friends in this
jungle here with you, said Mia, Yes, you are right.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I just want a friend.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
And the trees are nice, but they're covered in mice,
and so I decided to.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Make more friends. But do you promise that you know
you're not gonna take over the old world with volcanoes.
Are your volcanoes friends just gonna stay here in this
jungle right here? The volcano paused. He could see that
it was taking a deep breath. Have no fear, I

(07:22):
will not burn down the earth. I will make sure
my friends stay with me. And that was the moment
that everything changed. Everything changed for me and in her
understanding for volcanos, she one never knew that they could sing,

(07:45):
but two they that they've sometimes felt alone. He had
always observed volcanoes all by themselves. You don't really see
two volcanoes next to each other. And so she wondered
that maybe volcanoes are sometimes just lonely, and that's why
they explode all that lava. And so, huh, I wonder

(08:06):
if a volcano had friends, it would help that volcano
stay more calm. This may be the end of this
story about a singing volcano, but it's just the beginning
of me as volcano's adventures. She would go on to
become great friends with this singing volcano, and the two

(08:27):
of them would go on many adventures ahead the end.
Great job, you listened all the way to the end,
and you know what time it is. It's time for
kid shout out. So I want to say hey to
Charlie from Florida, Alexa from Australia, Kobe from New Zealand,

(08:50):
Ivan from Washington, Jane and Dean from Ohio. Avalon from
Arizona and Vincent from Texas. I'm so glad that you're
all in the kitschort, Sory's family and on the spy team.
We could not stop Doctor Stinky Breath and his crew
without you, my friends. Will you have a superty duper
day and I will see you on our next adventure. Bye.
