Speaker 1 (00:00):
Look man, oh I see you? Why why look over there?
How is that culture? Yeah? Goodness, Dan dun last cultures
calling getting sort of a coffee moment. Coffee in the morning,
Coffee in the morning time. Miguel is back on the charts.
(00:21):
What do you think he's in? Miguel has a song
called coffee and he's one A song from his first
album is charting because of that old TikTok Oh. I
think TikTok is officially over because I'm on it now,
you know, I actually you, So you didn't sort of
make like an internal announcement that you were going on now.
I kin't just a soft launch. It's the only soft
launch I'm getting these days. Tell girl, breakup. Not even
(00:45):
a soft launch. I'm saying, like soft, there's there's no
relationship soft Okay. So I was thinking soft launches and
like and sorry to be graphic on the podcast, like
in terms of like a soft launch, like a boner
launched into you. Oh, that's I wonder that must be
a kink, right, what, Like I only bond him if
it's soft. Oh wow. One time I hooked up with
(01:06):
a guy and he was like, I can't get hard,
but should I just put my soft dick inside of him,
and did you think about it? No? I let it happen.
And he's sort of like, just I don't even know
how this time. It's like it's like when a rat
is able to fit through a little quarter sized hole
and the rats a big ball of mush. Instead of
being as hard as a rat, rat just did coke
and it's like, yeah, I can't get hard. I'm sorry,
(01:27):
it was the whole thing. Sorry, we're getting graphic, you
know what. Let's just at the time in the place.
It's Sunday, Sunday Morning Talk, Good morning Talk Sunday. Yeah,
that Sunday Morning Talk, one of the final times Matt
will be coming to SNL in the dressing room. Yes,
I came. You've You've been coming three shows in a row,
and I'm truly so grateful spirits to see me. Bear,
(01:49):
are you kidding me? These past three shows doesn't matter,
what's what the content of the show is. All I'm
thinking is my girl is stomping the halls of eight
h soon. It feels love to be there to support
And I will say you did slay last night for
all a topical reason in the news and a topical
reason in our life, because I will say, we are
going to of course the world, the Disney world, in
(02:11):
a couple of weeks, and so you very impresciently sort
of took on, well, I've santist Disney drama. I've been
following the de santist Disney drama, and Washington hosted this
whole article that I was almost going to send you
of like whoa like Right when the story broke that
like Disney had basically like blocked control of the district
for like decades to come, I was like, mad, this
(02:31):
is pretty I don't want to like give snaps to
like a corporation or anything, but it's like, this is
pretty impressive. It is a war that's going on down
there right now. And you know what I didn't realize,
which I only realized last night during your piece, was
that he got married. He got married just at the
Grand Floridian Hotel. See that to me is two things
very telling about why he's doing all the emotional reasons. Yes,
(02:53):
and two one of the gayest things I've ever heard
in one of the gays. I'm sorry, every couple on
Disney Fairytale Weddings was queer even if they were. It's
both the straightest thing you do to get married at
Disney and one of the No, actually, it's not one
of the queerest things you do. It's one of the gayest.
It's one of the gay It's not queer, it's gay.
And we've used that pejoratively. Pejoratively, Yeah, phes is derogatory.
(03:15):
We're on fire today, we're actually on fire. We've smoked
a little bit of that refund And actually Bond was
asking an interesting question before we gone on, which is
where do you buy weed in New York? My answer everywhere? Yeah,
So talk about it because I'm really not. I'm not.
I'm not on the sidewalks too much these days. Yeah,
you're not. Sort of on the side. Well, I'm just
all I do is I walk to the LP and
I keep it moving. I get tunnel vision. Literally, I
(03:36):
put the blinders on. I'm like, I can't. It's not
that I like, I don't want to look at what's
around me in my periff, I just gotta like, you
gotta get where you're going. I gotta get where there's
things to do. So meanwhile, me totally a different walking
energy lately, love very like I'm deciding I'm just going
on a walk and then we'll go on. When you
walked back to the hotel last night, is that Actually,
(03:56):
here's the thing. I thought so from the after party
last night. It was like truly five in the morning,
and I thought to myself, Oh, I'm gonna walk home.
And then I got like literally a block down, and
I was like, way insane. I was like, I'm not
walking home at all, and I got imminently, I know
you're in your walking bag. And that's the thing as
I'm in my walk era now that I'm in New
York again, and so basically what I'm saying is my
(04:18):
walk energy now is very strolling down the streets slowly, yeah,
ambling walk and very much looking up and around. Oh
that's see, that's what you lose when you live here
for so long. I'm so glad you got to like
hit the reset. And that's within you. That's a choice
that you make within you. That's actually real culture number thirty.
That's a choice that you make within you. Basically, what
(04:39):
I'm saying is I'm I sort of stoned. I'm gonna
say it creative walks later. I love I've been listening
to music and sort of trying to find a new Actually,
Chapel has been in heavy rotation. And by the way,
Chapel just dropped a new song, Kaleidoscope, and she had
done it in her concert. But I saw at the Fonda,
and I'm telling you, I feel like I didn't give
Chapel enough time went as we just sort of breezed
(05:00):
by it because I think Adele had just happened. Chapel
is really she's taking it. She's taking it. Tell us
about she's taking it. She's taking it. Wait, why we
need to make an announce what the other nine I
met with my girls period, I met with the Hens.
Matt Rogers is in top form. What did I do?
(05:23):
And then he goes, I have an announcement to make.
What now when someone you know, mother whatever is over now?
In the lexicon, if you want to say that someone
is like giving as, someone is like really like gagging whatever,
all these you know, the new updated thing is to
say they are a finalist, they're a finalist and is
(05:48):
a finalists final. We'll see you in New York. She
We're gonna see you in New York for the finals,
the final finals, because you my dear are a finalist.
And here's the thing. I knew that she was, like,
I knew that she was bracketed okay initially in a heat.
I knew that she was in a heat. And I
even knew she had become a SATMI finalist. I had
(06:08):
her rumbles and rollings that she had become a SATMI finalist.
And then I saw this concert at the Fonda. The
only way I can describe it is it's like it's giving,
like Annie Lennox meets Kesha. I love it. It is
like dumb mass like flippity floppity like performance. In the beginning,
she comes out in a blonde wig and is very
(06:29):
given like pop star, and it's very like it's almost
like a satire of what a pop show is, and
it's very colorful and fun. She comes back out, she's
taken her blonde wig off. She's got these gorgeous, luscious
red curls. Her hair is iconic. She comes out and
she goes, it's me chapel chapel roon, and everyone's screaming
(06:50):
and it's like, oh, she just did this thing where
she took a wig off, and now she's revealing this
as her and incredible. It's amazing. So it's that's like
the energy. Hey god, it's very like Bretty Grow, but
like she's also from Missouri. But basically her whole mythology
and they're kind of is one. She was that girl
in Missouri who was living a certain kind of life
(07:10):
and said I'm going to Hollywood, Mama, you can't stop me.
And that's like a Pink Pony club like sort of
fantasizes is this idea of a girl who went to
go be a go go dancer in like California, and
like after small town, that wasn't her, Like she just
kind of went to pursuing music. But there's this mythology
the true creates of like the girl who went to
go back because you know what, the myth was completely
(07:35):
replaced by this thing of like, yeah, I went to
Yale and then um moved to the city and now
I work at McKenzie. It's like that is that is
the moving to New York story of like recent times,
and most people should stop. They're not finalists, actually eliminated.
They're actually eliminated. You've been eliminated from the competition. Your
plane is ready, Your plane is ready. You're seating at
(07:58):
the far end at the reunion. You're sitting at the
far end of the reunion, and you're not long for
this world. The package on you is gonna be about
twenty seconds and then we're moving on, which, by the way,
speaking of housewives, we'll get into it. So we've never
been more on one about a certain green green eyed,
three green eyed bastard son because she's my son. Oh
(08:19):
my god, we sired her and we said, no, give
her up. You know what just happened like and we
will get back into the chapel because there's more to say.
But I literally looked over at your bar cart and
there was a bottle of class A zul Giselle, I
got it. It's here in my apartment. Come and get it,
you idiot. There's data, but there are so many places
to get this tequila. It's like a very popular tequila.
(08:41):
It's also it's like one hundred dollars. I think I
looked it up. It's one hundred forty two dollars, which
like for a nice bottle of tequila, is not something
in Giselle Bryant cannot afford. And it's just like here's
the thing, Well, that's how you know she's literally scraping
the bottom of the fucking barrel. Well, here's the thing.
I would be okay with it if it was like
a funny plotline, But there's just something in her that's
(09:01):
that's going too hard. And to watch Pepsi cry, I
was like, oh, you've gone too far. You made Pepsi
cry just brillant. It's one thing to try to attack
the lives of others, but not Pepsi. It has to
stop at Pepsi Canda Stillard Bassett is, Look, she can
withstand your ire Pepsi does. Pepsi literally cannot, Which is
(09:23):
not to say that he is like not a strong person,
but he also does not deserve it. And this is
the thing whenever everybody listen, anytime people are like crazy
on a vacation, trash a hotel room, guess who's cleaning
that up? Guests, who has to like be the repository
for your fucking unhinged behavior. It is like the fucking
(09:44):
people who are like attending to your living. Yeah, it's
like whatever, not to get me. What's even worse is
the way that they talk to him, some of them,
the way that like not really Leah, but like in
the beginning of a little bit, Porsha to be honest,
like to me, Porsha, like I was so excited for
Porsche to come back to the real house result in
a girl's trip because I have I guess, selective memory,
(10:06):
because she time and time again like shows her ass
and like her behavior really is wild. Like I don't
know if you watched any you've not really watched a
couple episodes leading up to the Kenya drag, right, So,
but what I'm saying is she was one way on
that show, and then on her spin off, The Portia
Family Matters, she really came off bad. Yeah, like really
(10:26):
really really bad. And so then to see her come
on the show, I guess I just forgot that because
she is hilarious, that she's actually hilarious in a way
that like what people are like Gazella is funny, though
I'm like, nos, Porsche is funny. I'm like you, it's
so sweaty. It's always sweaty. And that is a thing
is it's like you're trying too hard, You're straining, you know.
(10:48):
The thing is like I will literally put up with
any behavior if the person is super funny, and Porsche
is funny enough to me where it's just like I'll
look the other way, sort of like when they were
in the elephant zone and she turns to them and
she goes, this is a spiritual elephant sanctuary, and Cannisa
started screaming and laughing, and they she had just been
mad at her, but then she started screaming. That's the
(11:10):
power of Porsche. Porscha Williams is unfortunately, when you consider
like who she aligns herself with, one of the best
ever to do it. And so to see her align
with Giselle, whose behavior is so Huko lou still to
this day and now just like noxious, I think you
know what she needs to do. It would be a
(11:31):
really good thing for her to be put on pause
or just take a break entirely from reality TV, because
you're right, Sweaty is the word, and it's giving like angsty,
and I'm worried for her, like I'm like, you look stressed,
your stressed and look like clockwork. On Thursday, when this
episode drops, she posts a little fucking reel of her
daughters and the redeemable thing about her, her lovely girls,
(11:53):
and babe, you know I'm going on her grid, her
instead and commenting classic once again using your children as
morality shields for your vile, disgusting behavior being televised. You
made Pepsi cry. Unacceptable, unacceptable, I am this is unbelievable
that the feud that we are watching play out in
the public is bo Yang and Jazelle Ryan. And guess
(12:16):
what one person's winning all her fucking idiot followers replying
to me, going it's giving jealous. I'm like ugly path
of jewel tones of what give it up for Sutton?
Sutton's track. I've gone on a journey with her. Oh yeah,
well it's been a roller coast trip. But guess what lovely,
(12:38):
lovely woman. Well, I have the opportunity to engage with her.
Let's just say that in the future we might be
teaming up at high tops for trivia. Was that watch
Happens Life that you guys? That was the first was
afterwards when we well, I think that she saw us
do Crystal and Sutton? Yes, and I think that that
definitely landed with the girls. Crystal has not breathed in
my direction. No, didn't she? I think she come it did,
(13:00):
but you know she said, like Slater, But I'm going
where's the follow back? Oh that's actually a huge point anyway,
Crystal Kamincoff has now followed back listened to us. We're
like in it. We are literally gonna wait a lot
of way onto main casts. My thing is gonna be
I had a career and gave it up for this.
That's gonna be my tagline. I had a full career
(13:23):
and I gave it up for this. See. I don't
like this because because that that is a viable career,
first of all. And Cannis is making a point of
Ultimate Girls Trip and I told to MENBC exacts, I said, oh,
you did get into it well, because Kennis is like,
we deserve Emmy's and I'm like, what do your nominations?
It's like, absolutely they do. Why are you guys campaigning
for unstructured reality? I think that they actually do. And
(13:45):
I think so when I voted for the Emmys a
couple years ago, there was like an unstructured category and
I one a few of the franchises were on it,
and you know, I voted for them. They should literally
just put all of them on. Put all of them
on just the nomination ballot, not the nominee. I remember Saltlake.
I think Saltlake was not on it, and I was like, oh,
if ever there was a season of Housewives that could
have let that through the culture. But I voted for
(14:08):
Beverly Hills, the year of I think it was cabs
first year and the year of the Lovely Other Pants
and that the Erica. That was a great season and
I voted for it. I was just like, in watching
Canada say that, I was like, you know what they
nominated below Deck, Like they nominated all these things like that,
Why why not this start the campaign? Um, Giselle is
not invited. No, she can't. She's not a finalist. Well,
(14:31):
she's not a finalist. I mean, here's the thing, you guys, Like,
there is a part of me every single time a
new season of Potomac starts or whenever I know Giselle
is going to be involved in anything, because here's the thing.
There is a star quality to her. That is why
she's synonymous with Potomac. That is why she's there, that
is why she's being discussed in this way. I mean,
she has impact. I'm gonna give the woman credit, But
(14:55):
every single time when I start a new season and
I buy into that star quality, and I wish to
like her. She proves you wrong every single time. But
she proves you wrong. It's just that you're like, oh,
you're right, You're right, and then you're like, there's no growth. Yeah,
there's no development. Candice. We've seen go from like hello,
like like some like rando woman who walks into this
(15:17):
group of friends and yeah, who the fuck is this um?
Now she's like a legitimately wonderful singer. I mean, did
you see I think I sent you her sing in
the national anthem at that basketball she just sounded healthy
and clear in crystal cream, pristine, crystal clean, pristine. Now
just the chaperon of it all, just it's gonna take
(15:39):
us back to chapel. She played some new songs from
her album that's coming out in September, which I believe
she announced at the show It's too far Away. There's
one song called Coffee, just a really simple and I
know you're not a ballad queen, we'll talk about talk
about it, but this is a ballad that's coming out
she hasn't released yet. Today she released a song called Kaleidoscope,
which I love, which is a ballot but also she's
(16:01):
giving you so much up tempo, stomp it stuff that
she can give us these ballots because I'm telling you,
that's like giving the singer songwriter part of her that's
crucial to the package that is her, which is why
she's going to go the distance. But there's a song
called Coffee that was literally lyrically it gave me like, oh, communication,
(16:22):
She is like communicating a way that is going to
really connect with people. And I'm telling you, the people
at her concert were in like people like dressing up
a little bit. It was giving early Gaga vibes. I'm
telling you this gross is taking it going this distance.
It is a finalist in the competitions. We're going to
(16:43):
see you in New York for the finals. One of
the biggest nights of your life, and we actually have
an announcement to make one of the categories of the
Last Cultures Culture Awards is Finalists of the Year, Finalist
to the Year, and other category is of course the
biggest night of the night of your life. Oh my god,
(17:07):
let's just say a lot of the biggest night of
your life is one of the biggest categories of the night. Yeah,
that is one of the top of what is it
called the top. Well, no, what are they? What do
they of the pops? Top of the pops? What are
they above the mark? And what do they say? After
looking the line, above the lines and above the line category,
out of a hundred categories, there will be around ten ten.
(17:29):
I was gonna say twenty. We're getting in our ear
now from our producer Elissa Fera Griffin of the view
that it's going to be somewhere between ten and twenty categories. Now,
is that the trumpy one, that's the Trump? No? No,
she was Trump. She was trumpy girl. She worked for him,
(17:49):
and then she iconically was like I can't stand this anymore,
Like I don't know, like do we trust that? No?
I don't trust her at all. I mean she's like
very transparent like media personality, like opportunist. Guess, but I
will say, like, you know, I and I have been
sort of dipping my toe back into view lately for
some reason. I don't know why. Yeah, probably because you
know Trump was arrested and you know all that, and
(18:10):
we are still waiting on that indictment to come down
at It's indictment watch here at last College. Still we're
waiting give a chest, Yes, I just we just came
through from the less the way you and I are tuned.
I was like, what are you gonna say? And you
and you knew and you know what's good about like
sort of having a friend that can sort of cash
you and new fool is that they can remember things
(18:34):
like finalists because I had forgotten finalists. Oh I'm record
keeper for everything. You say. My girls got the bibliography?
That's um, Well, listen what else there's been amazing new singer.
One artist that we love is Chapel A. Should we
announce to our new segment. We have a news segment,
irregular segment called one artist, one artist and we love
(18:57):
and we spot like one artist that we are loving today.
Our one artist was a Chapel Road. And then we're
so happy to start this and this is the thing
about last coltreistas and we are beginning. I guess this
is the beginning of our new contract. Oh is it
signed on the dotted line? We're here, We're queer. We're
podcasting for three more years. At least we'll make it
(19:18):
to ten years. Bitch, Oh my god, isn't that crazy?
That's really amazing. I don't think the contract is for
three it's not. I think it's for one with the
option for two and three. Oh dude, should we keep
this in now? Yeah? Well, I think this is relatable.
Like so many people at home don't know what their
contract says, you know what I mean, Like this was
saying sitting listen to this in their cars, like you know,
while they're shopping and they're thinking what my contracts say?
(19:41):
I do think that constant. I'm like, I should read
my contracts more. I don't read a thing. And also,
you know what, I should also read my bills, do
you When when bills come, I'm just like, what's the amount? Okay?
And I look the other way. They could be fucking us. No,
I am getting fucked here because my fucking landlord installed
wall units in my They're like, well, central Heating's broken
forever kidding Mike. Content bills are through the fucking I
(20:03):
can't through it. I can't stand it. I simply can't
stand it. And you know what else I found out.
So this is the thing is It's like and I
know I'm gonna I'm gonna sort of like stake a
claim and start a war here right now. Start. But
in the battle of spectrum versus Verizon FiOS. I feel
that there's only one finalist and it is Verizon FiOS,
and there is absolutely not a discussion about that. So
(20:25):
I was frustrated and disappointed, to say the least, when
I found out that my new apartment we will be
having spectrum. Okay, I just gotta ask, okay something First
of all, I'm so sorry, just gotta ask, Yes, why
is it that in the year of Our Lord twenty
twenty three, it's still your buildings just not wired for fious.
(20:48):
I was hearing that fifteen years ago. Yeah, we've not
progressed at all. Well, and the thing is, like, I
can't even ask a follow up question about that because
I can't pretend to even understand like what a process
it is to get like fitted for FiOS or whatever.
I just know the quality of the Internet is immeasurably
different when you have Verizon FiOS as opposed to spectrum
(21:10):
spectrum be blacking out spectrum. I might as well beyond
the plane. Yeah, I might as well be on the plane,
patching in and out to my friends, texting them from
the sky. But I going sorry on a plane right now.
WI Fi is bad. I have to also start another war, right,
come on, and so in the war of plane wi Fi,
here we go. And here's the thing. It pains me
to say this because I am a Delta girl. I
(21:33):
am a Delta girl. I ride hard for Delta, Delta
diamond Fish like you ed, You and Changela being Delta
diamond Fish together pretty much is podcast cannon. By way,
that's what we're saying. That's what we're saying. That's that's
sort of in the cannon the readers know. But I
will say this. I I flew American. The difference in
the quality is immeasurable. I think you need a bigger
(21:53):
sample size because I think it was that just what
Jeff blu is not bad. Jeff Blu pi consistent. Delta
is sometimes flopping on the wife always, sorry always. And
this is what I'm saying is it's like when I
was on American, suddenly I'm streaming YouTube videos in the air.
I was like, not with my girl, now with my girl,
not with my wife at home. That's why I'm sneaking
(22:14):
out getting this one too. This girl on the side
of American, she's giving me YouTube videos in the air.
You sneaky link thing with American is the headline. I'm
a sneaky link with American Airlines And that's what of
the culture number forty nine? Did you know what sneaky link? Man?
(22:34):
I just hit like an old school term. Can we
look it up? I might not? What is a sneak
urban dictionary of that shit? God? That culture the culture
of urban dictionary? Okay, sneaky link means when you're secretly
someone you're secretly having sex with. It's just it's a
it's a TikTok term for like sneaking out of the house,
sneaky link, sneaky link, TikTok term. It's like somewhat new,
but it literally is just like secret affair. Got it.
(22:57):
To answer your question from before of is TikTok over
because you're on it? No? I think that TikTok improves
because you're on it and we need more great minds
to get on it. You I am not bringing a
great mind to it. Yeah, but you know what though,
that's not for you to say. And I'm also like
you have to remember that does your FYP know you?
Because I feel like mine's after literally I've been on
my burner for like two years. Algorithm has no idea.
(23:20):
What the fuck? I like. Still, I will say the
algorithm knows what it likes. Oh, I'll say that. I'm like, wow,
you really want me to see this one person? You
really want me to see this woman in the suburbs
recording videos of her big dog and her small cat
fighting each other. Yeah. For me, it's like they force
feed me personalities, and I'm like, Mama, it's giving industry plants.
(23:42):
It's like thousand percent. It's like, okay, they're forcing this
on me. Literally, I refuse the same names. But there's
one TikTok person that just keeps appearing on my thing,
and I'm like, what am I doing? And then unfortunately,
like low key, it starts to work and I'm like, oh, yeah,
there's my friend. And I'm like, oh, no, do katies
(24:02):
listen to us and go, well, I guess I guess
they're Oh, I guess here they are. Again, No, I
don't think so, because I think it's an active decision
to listen to a poet a press play. They have
to press play, whereas on TikTok, I'm telling you, the
algorithm just gives you what it wants to give you
based on demographics. But the thing is, if I wanted
to see this person, I probably would have clicked follow.
(24:24):
So for me, the algorithm is flopping at that point
because it's like, yeah, but algorithm, I haven't follow, and
all you do is show me the doll and I'm
not giving you any positive feedback. But then again, and
then I think, am I now? Am I? Just like
our bodies, our fingers, our hands are not our own
on TikTok will be just flipping, flipping and flicking and clicking.
You know what. The solution to all of this, like
(24:47):
literally society's problems right now, would be everyone chop off
your thumb. Oh wow, So that way make the impulse,
the habit of like scrolling, flicking, flicking, flicking, watching without impossible.
Make it impossible to scroll. That's a rule of culture
number ninety nine, the secret society. Make it impossible to scroll.
(25:11):
That's actually one of the great ideas I've heard. But
you know, listen, we couldn't get the vaccine to work.
I'm saying we couldn't get the vaccine. We couldn't get
the vaccine work. You know, we couldn't get everybody on
board with the vaccine. We're not gonna get everyone on
board with chopping off their thumbs. That's what I meant.
I'm not guys, please do not get full evolution into
(25:31):
thinking that's sort of what we want and what we need.
That's not how evolution. I would disagree. Okay, Charles Darwin
over here looking at me like with a finger in
my face. Jesus, Jesus, I didn't know I was talking
to Charles Darwin the goddess like this reefer is hitting.
Oh my god, it's so good, and I'm telling you,
and you're like asking where do you get it? The
answer is apparently anywhere in New York. So this is
(25:54):
what we were saying before. Yeah, I'm walking up with
my head up in the y and all I'm seeing
our smoke shops and I walk in. I'm like, surely
they can't be selling like pre rolls and stuff. They are. Yeah,
And I said to the girl, I was like, this
is crazy, Like I lived in New York like four
or five years ago and this was not a thing,
like you do this. And she just looked at me
like I was maybe the dumbest person in the world,
(26:14):
Like I was the lamest dumbest person in the world,
and the fact is like she was so much cooler
than me, and like she definitely rolled this one right here,
and we love her and thank her and worship her.
But I was just like, yeah, wow, even that being
the energy is like the it's completely different. The answer
is it's an everyday commonplace situation. Yes, weed is in
New York, you can get it. But you're seeing the
(26:35):
way she looked at you was like, it's just like,
what are you talking about? Shut up? Of course you can.
That's New York though, That's like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's like that. I'm just so used to going into
a coffee shop in LA and then being like, hey,
I love your shirt today. What's going on this weekend? Well, me,
I'm going to the park. I'm missing La though. Looky,
(26:56):
I just never've been back in a while. Okay, clarification,
I'm becoming by coastal. I'm not moving back to New
York full for wholesale. I'm becoming by coastal. It's about
by visibility. I think, if not me, then who you
know what I'm saying, you can be BiCon. You and
Phoebe Bridgers. By the way, have you listened to the
New Boy Genius. Oh absolutely, let's get into that, okay,
because I was literally I saw my hands. That's where
(27:17):
Matt announced finalist. I was like, oh my god, I'm obsessed.
I go to bed at like two am. I gotta
get up at like six thirty to do a seven
am pick up on Friday, and I put on the board.
I given the Boy Genius record like a couple of spins,
and I was like, great, love it. It is really
effective and important. If you listen to an album in
a state of like half consciousness, yep, if you're gropin,
(27:40):
if you're gravy, that's actually the best time to listen
to any music. It's like stone or brain kind of
or it's like be on a plane or yes, I
was gonna say, like in like a transient like middle ground,
like emotionally and physically on a plane that like the
Voygenius is gonna slap the opening track, which is all vocals. Yes,
I'm recorded on an iPhone or something. Yeah, it's it's amazing.
(28:01):
It's amazing. They're incredible. They honestly without you, without that, yes, yes,
And I genuinely think at the end of the year
we're still going to be talking about the album. I
think it's one of those. I think it's like a contender.
I think it's a finalist. I think that boy Genius
our finalists, our finalists. Yeah, I am pumped for the LCA,
the LCAs. I don't know what we can say at
(28:21):
this point specifically, but let's just say that there will
be a nomination's announcement very soon, perhaps even in a
new interesting way. Oh, there is a little bit of
a twist in terms of Law Skill Tresa's programming. Maybe
there's going to be more episodes than there would be
because contractually, I know it says that. I know contractually
(28:41):
it says we have to do more. But we actually,
and this is my sister's idea, we are going to
present you, as he said, the nominations in a very
interesting way, Yes, in an interesting way that no one's
really going to be able to predict. Certainly, no one
can connect the dots between there's going to be more epis,
So it's then we're going to be announcing the nominations
(29:01):
in an interesting way. Certainly, it's still a gray area,
so I can't really deduce what that could mean. You know,
stay didn't watch the Space sniky links. I can't believe
(29:22):
we haven't talked about this, what Taylor and Joe? Oh yeah, no,
I mean, like I knew it would come up. This
is it's just so crazy that we are really living
in breakup era, Like it is the ripple effects of
Maybe it's the scan of all, maybe it's you know,
(29:42):
just cosmically what's going on. I've experienced it myself. I
think you were the first drop in the pond. Certainly
it had an emotional ripple effects in my own life.
So who am I to say as someone who believes
that we're all connected very deeply, and I do believe
that that that didn't lead somehow cosmically the Taylor and
Joe's breakup. It was view scanned of all. Yeah, some
other friends I know. And as of twelve hours ago
(30:05):
when when the news broke Taylor and Joe, where were you?
And literally the first words I said when I heard
the news will Steven and I love that guy co
wrote Jaffar with me and Alex one of the great
boy literally between dress and they were like, you know,
making changes, writing, rending, raining, running round and he goes, yeah,
my sister just texted me this. He showed me this
when I literally first split second thought that he was
(30:26):
going to say that like someone was dead, we nuked
or something like. Because of his reaction, yes, I was like,
something bad just happened, Yes, like death is involved. Yeah.
And I see the headline Taylor and Joe done quits
after six years. I gasped. I said, where were you
when you found out Taylor and Joe broke up? I
was writing my Jaffar update with Bill Steve. I actually
(30:48):
was leaving lunch house and I we went to go
see this is actually perfect to go see the Thanksgiving
play starring Darcy Cardon, and I'm going to get into
it the final moment a finalist, and then I had
a happy hour with iconic finalist Patrick Rogers, a finalist.
We had some oysters, a couple of beers, even I
had little tiny um clam chowders. It was really a
(31:10):
happy hour, yeah something. The place is called like the Mermaid.
It's on tenth Avenue in like twenty fourth Street. Highly recommend.
The happy hour vibe was immaculate. And I leave and
I'm walking and I get a text from of course Jared,
who's number one swifty and he texted me and Patrick House.
They're both finalists and we're all on a group chat together.
Finalists often gather to be in groups yourself finalist. Absolutely,
(31:34):
you are a finalist, you know what? Yeah, you are
a Yeah, I'm actually and you're a finalist and I'm
a finalist. May have to say that about each other.
And I hope that you listening out there, that you're
living this day and I want you to listen to
this very clearly with the belief, the firm knowledge that
you are a finalist. You have to identify as a
finalist in order to behave and live through life as
(31:55):
a finalist. It starts with the identity. Hear me, Now, Katie,
you're a finalist, period. Now understand. This is when I
saw that Taylorstoft and Joe had broken up, and I
immediately started contacting my sources and said, do we have
any intel? Do we have any intel? What I heard
the other grapevine is that it was very much her decision,
(32:17):
and that it wasn't dramatic like they said, at least
on her end, but that we are moving forward in
time and that no one has to worry about her
emotional state. That's what I had heard is that she
is doing fine and well and the tour is going
to continue to be wonderful. And this has been a
thing that was like sort of done already and she's
(32:38):
not moved on, but like, we don't have to be concerned. Yeah,
but there was a change in the set list, yes,
from Invisible String to the one, and when I I
just kind of thought at the time, like, oh, she
just isn't committed to making every show different, which I
respected me too, But now at the clues, how is
she going to sing so much of her music that
(32:59):
I mean, listen, Okay of my Heart is that one
in this out list? Because I would love that it's not,
but I love it. King of my Heart is like, oh,
oh my god. Wow. Now I'm all of a sudden
like realizing it's emotional. There's so much music that she
has that I remember connecting to at a certain point,
and like I remember, I can't even listen to those
songs now. I can't listen to Mastermind, I can't listen
(33:20):
to like King of my Heart. Honestly, Death by a
Thousand Cuts has been slapping lately. But my thing though,
is like to have experienced it and put it into
so much of her music because it's like reputation on
It's like Joe, that's like a huge chunk of her
career her. Yeah, and like I guess, like a lot
(33:42):
of folklore and evermore too because they've worked on it together. Right,
that's a long one, Like that's what we take for
granted that how they've been long together for a really
long time. I thought they were gonna last. They really did.
It's breakup era. The fuck. I mean, it's been weird times.
But also here's the thing about breakup era, It's truly
transformative moment. It honestly, like I was thinking to myself
(34:04):
the other day. I think I even said to one
of our friends. I was like, I rotate between wishing
I had never gone through this at all and like
not even like engaged in a situation where I could
get hurt, and then also being like, no, I'm actually
really really really grateful to have gone through like a
painful thing, because I do think it like you know,
it adds to your emotional tool kit. It's like knowledge
(34:28):
is power about like the things that you can go through.
And so that's like the thing about breakup era that
I would say is that it's not necessarily a sad thing.
Of course, it's like hard thing, but like you have
to believe that, like you're everyone will come out of
this a better person. Like, for example, I was seeing
like you know, I guess Arianamatics is going to go
(34:48):
on Dancing with the Stars. I'm a good girl. Have
the moment like use this hard thing you're going through
to empower yourself and push through literally what you're describing
when you're like I would have rather know gone through
that is like eternal Sunshine. And like the whole point
of that movie is that like even if you were
to just like wipe that from your mind, your memory,
(35:08):
your experience, like there is this complete void in your life,
there's no way around it. Yeah, And it's also like
that movie saying it's like you can try to not live,
but if you're going to be out here living and
like change is gonna happen, like hard things are gonna happen,
Like you can't just you know, select be selective about
living life. But I got to watch that movie again.
(35:31):
It's so it's so cliche. How much how that is
one of my favorite movies of all It's not even
cliche because the reason it's cliche is because it actually
is good and it's high quality. And that's the thing
about hashtag basic is that sometimes when people like something,
it's because it's a good because it's good, and that's
actually really culture number four. Sometimes when people like something,
it's because it's good, and that might be something we
(35:52):
have to grapple with. Now, speaking of liking some things
that are good, talk about the things giving place Darring
finalist Darcy Card. Well, here's the thing. If you go
see the Thanksgiving play, you are going to basically see
Darcy Card and do all the things you want to
see her do. She's hilarious, she's charming as fuck, she
looks gorgeous, she is having fucking fun. And the cast
(36:14):
is incredible. It's Scott Foley icon hot icon, hilarious in
the show, Chris Sullivan, amazing actor, he's from This is Us.
He's just got like such like a like he's just
vibrant in a star. Yes, and the true icon. Her
name is Katie Finnern. She has won two tony She
won for Promises, Promises and Noises Off. She is incredible.
(36:37):
She's sort of the lead of the show, even though
it's a four person ensemble. She's like a real theater
actress and she is so funny and just incredible. And
I can't really say enough about the play, Like it's
not what you think it's going to be. It's called
the Thanksgiving Play. I really didn't know anything about it.
It's about these four teachers. They're four white people, a
(37:00):
couple of them our teachers, and they're trying to put
on an elementary school play about Thanksgiving because one of
them has gotten a grant to do that, like got
like you know, money in order to responsibly put on
like a socially conscious Thanksgiving play with elementary school students.
And the play is just about like white people trying
to negotiate and rationalize creating art that's not their experience.
(37:22):
And it is a very it's like a social farce, yeah,
and like a satirical for us in a way. And
it just so it goes in really fun places. It's
funny the entire time, and it's smart. It was written
by Larissa's fast Horse, who is a Native American playwright
who is really really really talented in somebody to watch
and I have to say I recommend this, And Darcy,
(37:43):
you're a star. And the thing is, guess what, people,
she will be back on the pod next month. I can't.
And we're gonna all get in the same room. That
was the term, yeah for all three of us, Like
it was gonna happen a couple of months ago. Didn't
work out because we couldn't get on in the same location. Yeah,
that is priority number one. And I see you readers
waiting at the stage door for her, and I met
(38:04):
a couple of readers in the audience last night, and like,
I'm happy and proud of the readers for going out
and seeing theaters, specifically this. It's great. And then I
just want to button one other theatrical thing, which was
I'm ready to say my thoughts about Sweeney Todd. Here
we go. So as you all know, I saw it
in previews, and I said, I'm reserving critique. It's very
(38:25):
smart of you, because that is literally the previews. Do
not judge a show by previous go And here's what
I would also say about previews. No, don't judge. Don't
judge a show in previews. But I will also throw
this out there, and I understand the financial reality of
Broadway and the way they make money back is what
it is, but also a little annoying to charge regular
ticket prices and really high ticket prices for preview performances.
(38:48):
That's all I'll say. Like it, that's all I'll say. Well, yeah,
that being said, I went back to the show now
that it's running. I'm blown away by it. I thought
it was fantastic. I'm happy I waited because they worked
some things out and the headlines are like, Josh Groban's voice.
You've never heard a score this beautiful, sung this beautifully.
(39:10):
It's grobabebabe. And I will say he's one of those
voices you kind of take for granted, like, oh, of course,
Josh Groban's amazing when you hear it live, it's really
just an instrument. It is beautiful, it is. It is
so resonant and so healthy and clean. But he's also
able to inject some of that anger and that you know,
(39:32):
that madness that Sweeney Todd has, which I think was
his challenge was finding a way to incorporate the you know,
real like from Hell depths of despair that Sweeney is
in and put that in his voice while singing the music.
Because we've heard it done so well in the past
and was really really really happy with his performance. And
(39:52):
Annalie Ashford, she's just one of the funniest actresses probably
that's like working on Broadway right now, I mean like
in theater general and at large, like also stupid but
funny in interviews. Yeah, she's great, just so great, so charged.
It would be fun to have on the podcast. Actually,
I know, we'd love to have you girl. We'd love
to have your girl. I have to say, like a
(40:12):
Little Priest was fantastic just watching them go back and forth.
Cinematography like it was gorgeous. It's a exactly what I
said I wanted, which is a high budget, big scale
Sweeney Todd. They did that for me. If I have critiques,
it's and I'm not gonna like not name any names.
There's just some casting that's not exactly right. And I
(40:33):
wonder if we needed to stud cast everything, because you know,
we had Josh and Annelie top lining. But overall, like
the ensemble is amazing and some of the supporting work
here is unbelievable. Ruthie and Miles do you know about her? Wait?
I know the name. Ruthie and Miles want to Tony
for the King and I she is the beggar Woman. Yes, yes, yes,
(40:56):
oh my god, we saw her, we saw yeah. Okay,
I'm saying give the Tony nomination to Ruthian Miles for
her performance as the beggar Woman. We've never seen a
begger woman like this. She's really scary. Her voice sounds amazing,
She's like she plays all the turns in that character,
especially having seen it twice, really appreciating her work. This
(41:17):
is my favorite musical, y'alls. The Beggar Woman to be
this big of a sleigh is a major Also Beatle Bamford.
His name is John Rapson. Unbelievable. The judge, the guy
who played the judge Turpin was amazing, Like, there's moments
in this that you're just like, holy fuck, this is
the most beautiful score in the world, and that's being
done well. I say it's worth it to go. If
you can see Sweeney Todd, go see it. It's really
(41:40):
I'm happy that I waited because the kinks that I
wanted worked out got worked out right, and we're dealing
with a good Sweeney Todd production. Now. This is great,
perfect conscious theater audience mindset. I think you have to
be honest when you're talking about the stuff just because
it is so fucking expensive. So honestly, if it wasn't good,
I'm not fucking coming here and telling the readers to
(42:01):
go buy a ticket to it. But I'm also saying
just like, yeah, I'm seeing something in previous m Let
me wait, Yes, you owe it to yourself to to
like everyone working on these shows. Let me wait, yeah,
to say that. And you know what the thing, too is,
It's like I'm just not interested in hearing like reactionary
review because then it becomes a thing of like, oh
(42:24):
can my review get shared or talked about the most?
That's like review culture to me is toxic. But that's
how like everything is like yeah, well but it's also important,
and we've talked about it on this podcast. How like
critical culture, Like critic culture, we've talked about like when
it's done well and a sun responsibly, like it can
be a very useful tool. Like I don't know if
you Oh, God, the guy who ran the New York
(42:45):
Times a Scott So he was on the daily and
he's like leaves retiring. Did you listen to that episode?
I listen to the episode I heard that he is
basically like I'm not doing this anymore because it's Yeah,
but a legend, a Scott no V legend. He said
something really interesting about being a critic. He said, I
feel like your job is the critic is to be
there alongside the viewer and be like a watching partner
(43:07):
and like a tool that they can use to help
understand why something is good or working. And like it's
almost like a companion, like a critics companion. Yes, And
I feel like it's helpful to look at it through
that lens and not like here's why this didn't work
and yeah, that and I'm being a bitch about it,
which I've definitely been guilty of. I'm sure you've been guilty,
especially on this podcast, But that's not helpful. I would say,
(43:29):
like ultimately, what you need to know is should you
go or not? And you should go. I express yes,
critics should walk alongside and not get out in front. Yes,
don't get out in front. Don't get out in front
because it first of all, don't stay out there. There's
a car coming. Queen period. Queen Scott is a finalist finalist.
We celebrating him. I Scot might be getting a lifetime achievement. Award.
(43:52):
I just spit out my coffee everywhere, did it? I
just did a spite when I heard and say that
I spit and it swallowed it. Just fine, It's just fine. Wait,
speaking of critic movie, you had a lovely experience at
the Super Mario Brothers movie. I need you to tell
(44:12):
me all about this. There's been so much culture that's happened,
and this is another one of those episodes. But the
vibe is much better than the last time we day.
That's where I literally have to be like I have
not had any time or emotional energy to like consume.
You need to tell me everything. This is what's iconic
about the Super Mario Brothers film. There it's basically like
you are playing the game, but in a way that's
(44:33):
very tongue in cheek. It's it's a lot funnier than
I thought it was going to be. Right, and also
it's like the Chris Pratt of it all is not
even the big No. You actually kind of get it
because they do this thing where it's like the people
that have seen it know what I'm talking about, but
the characters are conscious. It's like more ironic. Yeah and
they yeah, So the it's they can't make a movie
(44:54):
out of that, No, and so they in a funny
way sort of like round that. Yeah, and then they
I don't know, I really like Luigi in the movie
made me realize I fucking stand Luigi. And now I'm
gonna play as Luigi more. That's amazing. Yeah, I actually
respect Luigi because I actually identify as Luigi. And I
did think about this. You are sort of Mario and
I'm Luigi, and I'm obsessed with my life. Wait, like
(45:18):
Luigi's obsessed with his life, I'm obsessed with my life
as Luigi. Now you're not Luigi. But here's the thing.
Luigi is a star too. Is this is what the
movie proves. I don't think either of us are Mario
and Luigi for now. If that's like a good model
for you, I love. But I think I'm just saying
I identify with Luigi. Like the things Luigi goes through,
like being scared, like sort of being like he gets
(45:39):
thrown into the crazy world. And then when I see
him go through the things he goes through, I'm with Luigi.
And all I'm saying is I think Luigi is kind
of all of us in a way that we've never
really experienced. But I do feel that you are a
Mario figure and I think it's beautiful. And me as Luigi,
I'm kind of like looking at Luigi in the movie
(46:00):
and being like slay. Yeah. And so now what I'm
saying is like I think in the past, I've always
been like, I'm not going to play as Luigi. Why
would you play as Luigi? You're going to see me
on her playing as Luigi now, because I believe, I'm
gonna say this, Okay, I think Luigi is queer. Tell
me everything. I think he's a gay man. What makes
you say the overcoming narrative? Honey, we all overcome not
(46:25):
like this, No, no, not everyone overcomes. Just shot me
the most conviction. It's not like this, not like that. Yeah,
believe it. No, I left the movie loving Luigi. I'll
also say there's another iconic thing about the film. They
give Peach nothing but nothing I've heard, but yeah, I
heard you say, Can I say that? Yeah? That? And
(46:46):
yet makes it work. She first of all, I can't
believe her agents sent her this script and they were like, hey, yeah,
this is great and we have no notes about what
it is, and that she read it, and I was like, okay,
but I'm so happy that she did. On the page,
literally these are Peaches lines. It's like, Hi, I'm Peach,
I will protect us. Come with me. Are you ready?
(47:08):
I don't know about that. I'll go get help. I'll
get help. I will lead us again. Well, the first
thing you have to do is pass the test. It's
it's literally they give her nothing and then a purposeful
way that you must be like they had to do this,
I think maybe, And so part of me actually kind
of thinks it's incredible that she's nothing because it's and
(47:29):
maybe that's the point, because Nya is giving it so
much like that you're fooled into thinking it's a characterization,
but it is not. Like, of course, they do the
boring thing they do with like girl characters and movies,
which is they made it like a badass like she
doesn't were necessarily addressed when she fights, like when she
says and fights, she wears like a pen suit and
she rears a motorcycle, and it's like, oh, badass girl
(47:51):
boss Peach. But I almost think it would be funnier
if she was a little bit like, I don't want
to do this, you know, what I mean if she
was like a little bit more of like a girl. Yeah,
and that's a problematic for me to say. I'm just
it's boring. What they've done, like the girl Boss of
the basic hinting at girl bossification but no actual work
(48:11):
being done. To me, is fucking lame as hell. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
because they give every other character like a comedic hook,
but not her in fact, so that must be it,
but it's not clear enough. There's a scene where like,
because she's a human and she's amongst toads, so it's
kind of some question of like why that is? Yeah,
(48:32):
and so Mary is like, maybe you're from my world
and she goes, we can never know. Well, yeah, well,
because you guys were talking about this, like they ask her, peege,
where are you from? She goes, nowhere, I don't know.
I don't know. Yeah, that's that. And they're like, well,
you must be from somewhere, and she's like, I am
not engaging in this conversation. So that Meredith marks. She
she Meredith marks. But for her to be like, I
(48:53):
don't know where I'm where I come from? Is that
tells me that that is very intentionally her thing and
her hook in this movie. Is she has no story? Yeah,
she has no story, no story that she's not asked
a question about herself the outside of that, and then
when she is, there is no answer. It's very Julio
Torre's character. Yeah, it's like I'm a vessel. And maybe
that was purposeful. I just wish it had been a
(49:15):
little bit more like comedically beat in because I do
kind of like that as a choice, like that the
girl character there is nothing there as a comedic choice.
I like that is this problematic? I don't know, but
I think if it were used in a comedic way
and you could give Annie a little bit more like
nothing to work with, yeh, then it would have been funny.
And I think kind of, my god, it's it's no,
(49:37):
it's third wave. It's like it's third wave, like let
women be, women be nothing nothing. You know, some women
are nothing, some men are nothing, and somehow out there
are nothing. I am telling you, you meant nothings all
the time. You meet nothings all the time. I'm not thinking,
you know, I'm saying like there are nothings of every type. Oh,
there's nothings across the globe. As culture number fifty eight.
(50:01):
There's nothing across the globe. None of you are nothing.
If you're listening to this right now, final hear me,
right now, you are a final a list. You're not
one of these nothings. So you're not cut, you're not
in danger of being cut. You're moving on. You're moving on,
and we're gonna see you when they are. Hey, so
don't tell the others. But producers and I were talking
and you're a finalist, finalist, Oh my god, do you
(50:22):
think how many times do you think that happened on
like American Idol Earli days? But they're like, hey, Kelly, hey,
just it's not a big deal, don't It doesn't matter
everything that happens this week. Nicole Nicole, just Tomyra's out,
She's out, is gonna be And of course they called
(50:43):
Nicki mcibell, Nicole, Nicole mcibbn Nicole, Oh sorry, Nikki, Right,
we'll get it, we'll get it to Myra's out. I know,
I know it's shocking. Just go with the finals, Hey, Kimberly,
kim Kimberly, just quick, quick, qui quick, qui qui qui quick?
(51:04):
Trenise is gone. She's gone, She's gone, She's she's gonna
be marched o Tremier this season? Is that racist? Well
it's two okay, okay, we can get away with ever everywhere. Yeah,
she's out, she's out. You're the girl who's going to
the finals. We think it's gonna be either girls. It
gets to be either you, Ruben and Clay, and it's
can definitely be you and Clay and then randomly Ruben.
(51:25):
And here's the thing, I know, it seems like that
means the top two definitely have to be Ruban and Clay.
Just don't worry about it yet about you know, you
can focus on doing a great job because we're on
the val in the finalist. Just give it to them.
Just give it to them tonight. What are you singing?
Love that Somewhere the Rainbow? Oh for the third time?
Oh yeah, that's good for you. That's good because it's
going to remind them of the last time. She says
(51:47):
somewhere over the rainbow three times that season. That's actually
something that never gets talked about. Kimberly sheer volume of
Somewhere over the Rainbow from Kimberly lock to the point
where it's actually ingrained in culture at large. It's not
we're not talking about it enough. But it's a relic.
And that's what relic have to have happened, is to
(52:08):
have to be uncovered. You have to be uncovered excavation.
It's a cultural relic. That's the sang Somewhere over the
Rainbow any times that season two an American idea. Yeah,
and listen, did it work kinda? She made it all
the way until she didn't, until she didn't. But look,
eighth World Wonder impacted. Let's never forget the impact of
(52:29):
eighth World Wonder. Are we singing eighth World Wonder as
the opening of the Lost Cultures Culture Awards. We have
an announcement to make one of the nominee nominees for
Record of the Year. It's wow. Eighth World Wonder did
not make the three hundred Songs of the Great Global
Song Book. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean it's not a nominee
(52:52):
for a Record of the Year because this we're talking
about this year. Yes, okay, so that the three hundred
Songs of the Great Global Songbook was of all time,
talking about for this year. Record of the year's about
for this year. That's why eighth Row Wondering by Kimberly
Locke has nominated because we're talking about this year, what's that?
What's trending now? A thing of that with the one
(53:14):
her iconically chunky Verbottle. She always had a singer's voice. Yeah,
she couldn't even like would you go? You know, it's
like Summarine just in my down it has to be
one of the greatest pop songs ever and that's why
it's nominated. You know what else we heard earlier? I
(53:37):
turned to my sister and I said, this is the
only song I ever want to hear. Pieces of Me
by Ashley Simpson and Um. At this time, we haven't
announced on one of the nominees for Record of the
Year at the last Schooled Rasal's Culture Awards, it's Pieces
of Me by Ashley Simpson. So that's already two songs
from like Bush era Radio. I wasn't thinking about it
(54:00):
like Busher I Radio, because I don't have to go
back to that time he committed war crimes. UM. But
to hear you say that makes me realize that it's true.
But it's okay. I think there's I think it's okay.
I don't want to do like token Odds song Token
you know it's like, no, we're not doing this. You know,
there can be two nominees from everything everywhere, all at
(54:20):
once and Best Supporting Actress, and I think that no
one would even dispute it. I think what people are
failing to remember is that we're not This isn't time
specific in terms of all time or any specific era.
It's record of the year this year. That's why Pieces
of Me by Ashley Simpson is nominated. What's trending now?
(54:42):
I can't, I don't. I know, I don't have to
say it because I know that the reader's out there
and the katies out there. They get it because you
guys are finalists and you're still I think from the
last time I said, it's still operating with that energy.
I hope, I hope, but they get it. They get it,
but not everyone gets it because some people cursory listen
to this podcast. Some people are like, yeah, sometimes I
listen if I see it's just you guys, or if
I see it's a guest. I like, sometimes I listen
(55:03):
because I don't love every episode. I don't like when
it feels like compressed. But people be saying that, people
do be saying that I go, okay, well I'm gonna
go get ready for my sluck performance. Okay. Um, I
will also say this, like, yeah, we t have the reddit.
We say, you guys talking. I love the folks on
the reddit, but sometimes they do be jumping to conclusions.
Conclusions get jumped to. Okay, so let's just dispel some
(55:23):
rumors right now. I went on the reddit and it
was like, well, it seems like Matt didn't like Brian
Jordan Alvrez. I fucking loved Brian Jordan ez. I was obsessed.
And then someone else is like why they were they
loved him, I think, and I was like, yeah, okay,
(55:45):
so we're dressed back from asking Doug to have cut
something out. Um, so we said something we would realized
we wanted to cut out. Is that doesn't raise any
suspicion as we talk about how you know some people,
sometimes you guys jump to conclusions and then we omit
full audio. There's lots of um sort of rumors on
the podcasts and things to confirm things. Den Wait, okay,
(56:10):
did I say everything that's good about Mario? It was
so fun, but I mean I was just laughing because
they gave Peach nothing but Anya is Oh my god,
she does a great job. We have not seen her flop. No. Also,
you know what's great about the Mario movie. It gives
you everything you'd want from Mario movie in terms of
referencing all the games. Like it references Mario Party, Mario,
(56:32):
It references like the RPG type Mario movies. Oh are
you kidding? What I mean by it references is that
it like acts as if No, totally, that's all you need.
That's fan service. Is literally doing the bare minimum. Yeah,
I mean I'll say this, I'm gonna compliment the writer
and I actually waited to see who the screener was.
His name is Matthew Vogel. He killed it. It was
really funny. My only note was I just wish that
(56:53):
the Peach thing was more clear in either direction. Totally, totally, totally,
But I do think it's enough for like moms who
are taking their daughters to which like on a basic
level to be like, oh, yeah, they made Peach, not
just like someone that has to be rescued. She has agencies,
she like kicks booty. Yeah, I just wish it was
as her character was as funny as the rest of
any of course, but maybe it wasn't it was a
studio note. Maybe I don't know who knows. Um, we
(57:15):
can never know, Actually, we can never know. All you
see is what's on screen. That's actually so true. And
they will say, and I'm only saying this because I'm stoned,
Jaffar hit harder address, Jaffar hit harder address, rehearsal. And
sometimes that's just how it goes. And sometimes you walk
away from a show on Saturday you go, I wish
the dress version was that on YouTube? Did you feel
(57:36):
the dress audience was stronger than the live on because
I think the dress audience is standby usually and oh yeah,
I think I used to go to dress all the time,
and usually it's like people are there to see Joe Bros. Right,
you are to see the musical. Yes, yes, that audience
is going to be into Jaffar gotta got it. I
got like I'm saying, generationally generation, they grew up with her,
(57:57):
They grew up with her. Some of these girls. I
think we're watching like because of course a large grenzy
population watches the show live on Saturday night, I think
that they were watching it and being like, who the
fuck is this crazy lady? Who's this crazy lady? Who
is this woman? It was so funny, though, I will
say Jafar took me for a ride, and I really
(58:18):
did like like I thought it was calling out. The
thing which is so true about Disney is that it
is all gays. So it's insane that we're even in
this position in the first place, where the Disney Corporation
at any point wouldn't have just been like, yeah, of course,
like this is something we're gonna ride hard about, like
they had at some point given those that money to
those politicians that supported it, of course, So that just
(58:41):
the whole thing, like the whole like premise of this
whole debate they're in about like one being right and
one being wrong, like it started in hell. So now
that it's like it's just these two sort of big
old corporations like which you know just sent this is
essentially one just fighting, and it feels crazy because ultimately,
(59:02):
all we're talking about is a bunch of gays press
him go on a roller coaster button hunt, and the
gays are literally you're talking about like the gay cast
members of Disney Horses. I'm talking about the girls who
are making who are making the pizzas. I'm talking about
the girls who are standing out front of the ride.
I'm talking about the girl who's saying, hey, let's see
if little Mama is tall enough to ride this ride.
(59:23):
These are the gays, These are the queers, like it's
in Disney. Should be supporting the queers because the queers
support them, and so we have to stand against the santis.
We have to be pro business. Girls didn't realize for
some reason, I didn't realize what he looked like. He
looks like he looks like a water logged teddy bear,
you know what I mean. It's like it's unhealthy. Yeah,
(59:45):
there's something about him. He's like, looks like it's like
a picture of unhealth. And it's like all these Republicans,
they all look so like road hard and put away,
wet by life. I'm like, what is going on, Like
who's looking at these people and being like aspirational? These
people look the blood grain. Yeah, it's the blood vessels
underneath the dermiss. There's no life in their bodies like
(01:00:06):
Marjorie's Heller Green looks like a corpse. Yeah, all these
men look like corpses. They're ugly and rotted from the inside.
Out and I'm like, oh god, but don't you agree
they're ugly? Yeah, not to be like pojartive about their
looks like esthetically, but like these are ugly people. No,
we've been new. Okay, well who's the hottest Republican? Remember?
(01:00:29):
But they did that. They did that for years, like
you know, get letting Paul Ryan get away with fucking
bullshit and garbage because like I don't know, it gave
like a coach sure energy, sure, sure, Oh my god.
Remember when like this pod we would like start off
this pod with like Aaron's Shock again, like you who
like at this point, like who cares? That was a
big moment in our We had a conflict about that.
(01:00:51):
It wasn't real. It wasn't real. Well I was being
really no, you were right, it was, so we'll just
be We'll just be transparent about it. This was years ago. No, no, no,
we don't have to do it. Okay, they go ahead.
I don't know to do it at all. Here's all
it was was. I was following Aaron Shock on Instagram
because I was, you know, someone that hadn't quote unquote
(01:01:11):
examined that, and so you saw that I was watching
following Aaron Sho on Instagram and he goes, you need
to examine that, and I remember being like, oh, that's
where examined, That's wherein that star you're going to meet.
You need to examine that, and you were one hundred
percent right. But also it's it's there's no need to
examine it. It's like people, no, there isn't need to
examine it, like why are you following someone harmful just
(01:01:33):
because they're esthetically looking like that? Good? Then they got you, babe.
You can't be like mad next time. When someone like charming,
manipulative and handsome is evil and fuck the world like
you were a part of it, it is something to examine.
Look what I turned to you last night? I said,
I am just so overjoyed to see my sister. We
(01:01:57):
had a fun little evening. It was good and after
party spot was good. It was fun. It was fun,
love and neue. Oh my god, oh wait, I normally
never do this. What I was talking was talking whatever,
I was like, milling around the party, I got to
meet and have a little moment with Drew Barrymore. She
was there, she was there, and it was so special.
Oh my god, I love Okay, I'll let me. I'll
(01:02:19):
paint the full picture, you know. I go and sit
next to Lauren, just to check in and to talk.
I love you, know I you know what I I love.
We like to check in and with Daddy Boss. With
Daddy Boss. Who comes over with Drew. Oh, she's such
a light and she reaches out a hand to Lauren.
It goes I just want to say, I'm not gonna
do look at the impression. But this is just like literally,
(01:02:40):
this is these are the words I came out of
her mouth, and you can't help it sound a little bit,
a little bit like Drew. I just want thank you
so much for having me. This is one of those
moments where I think everything in life is going so perfectly.
This is the first night out I've had in so long.
Thank you so much. I love you, Thank you think well.
And we loved having blah blah. He's probably known her
(01:03:02):
since she was a child when she hosted, when she
didn't she hosted like five six years old. Yeah and
so and then she turns to me and she's and
then she was just like in baha, and then I
just had to be like Drew, this is really surreal.
I adore you so much, and she's a super see
is made. And I will say, like when I when
(01:03:25):
I was on her should to promote my special, not
only was she that nice and that warm, but also
like had clearly at least checked in and became really
familiar with what I was there and like we had
like a whole conversation about it, and she had specific
things to say about it. Very kind, the great host
you can tell really cares. And when I was there,
Ross Matthews was there on her show all the time,
(01:03:46):
and I remember I turned to him and I'm like, wow,
she really is like a dream huh. And he was like,
she's the best, and it's like beyond because she is
also while simultaneously being a really fun and good co worker.
She's also Drew Barrymore let that set. Yeah, she's like
one of the biggest stars of the past fifty years
for sure, And I feel really comfortable saying that she
(01:04:08):
is an icon absolutely, and she also like cares a
lot about the show and like is that kind? Is
that kind? And a hugger and hugged my mother. I
got to get like a picture, did I will show
you this. I'm freaking Katrina Drew Barrymore and Ross Matthews
to a picture together and it was giving family a
four first of all, and my mother there's a picture
(01:04:30):
of mine. I have to show you the picture. There's
a picture of my mother hugging Drew, and my mother
is smiling so big, and I'm like, yeah, because monoculture
Drew Barrymore. Everybody knows who that is and loves her.
She's a finalist and she has been since the age
of five. Period. Let that think, Kim. They put her
on the Neppo Baby Matrix where it was like people
(01:04:52):
who transcend, like you kind of forget that they even cares.
They've like really proven time and time again that like
they are so so so indelible. Yeah, but would you
rather not have her? Yeah, it's like you'd be a
fool to say no. You're not saying no. It's Drew Barrymore.
And there was a time when I was growing up
when she was like, by far my favorite actress too,
Like I would just die for anytime she was in anything.
(01:05:15):
I mean, like all those movies are iconic. She's effortless.
I went home after fifty first dates. Yeah, I was
like in the eighth grade, No, seventh grade. I remember
like the kind like the emotional state I was in.
I was like devastated by that movie. Oh yeah, I
was like Drew Barrymore fucked me up for life, but
(01:05:36):
never life. Also have you ever seen Greg Gardens of Corman.
It's so good. She won the Emmy. No, no, no,
she won the Screen Actress Guild Word and can I
ever be I'm like, oh, they probably could have given
no one Drew Rue, I forget who won. I'm sure
they deserved it. It was no Jessica. It was just
then in the same they were in the same category,
(01:05:58):
and Jessica won the Emmy, and uh, I believe the
Golden Globe in the sag and it was like, maybe
she'd win the Emmy and love that they both they
both want something. Yeah that we love the spreading of
the wells, spreading of the well But you know, it
just felt like I'll give her the Emmy true true,
Oh my god. And also never forget ever after which
she was experienced for anniversary And did you see Melanie
(01:06:18):
Melanie Lynsky was on, So I'm hearing about what's happening
on Yellow Jackets. You're out again. There's no way I
get it, but I am in awe of and have
so much respect for it. I just don't think I
could watch it. I went back to season one just
to like watch the Melanie scenes and I was like, damn,
(01:06:40):
yeah she is so I just can I just say,
Melanie Lynsky interviews on YouTube better than any SMR. I mean,
she's a legend in the moment, literally going back, here's
the thing about Melanie Lynski, it doesn't matter what the
task at hand is, She's going to give you a
temp a ten like in any function. I've never seen
(01:07:04):
anything like it. I've never seen anything like this. Meli
Linski is a finalist. She is a finalist. She has
been for years. She's been a finalist in Heavenly Creatures.
She's been a finalist for You, She's been a finalist
through Sweet Home Alabama. She'd been a finalist of her
recent Last of Ust appearance, Last of Us. Fucking don't
look up two and a half. Men, don't go sit
(01:07:26):
for Melanie Lynsky. If you're not ready for a time,
if you're not ready for a ten, just get out.
And here's maybe the thing is, it's like yellow jackets,
Like I'm so ready for the ten but but I
can't kind but not this kind of ten is just
not my not my genre. But the thing and her
giving a ten probably heightens everything, which I'm certain it does,
(01:07:46):
and therefore, like I've just heard that, well, okay, spoiler
alert for the last episode of Yellow Jackets, please and
have you watched it already? I've not watched the one
that that just aired this week. Okay, then I can't
say what happened because it's a huge spoiler. I know
the thing that there's a thing that happens with a
with a fire, the cannibals be cannibaling. Yes, that is
at this point, I think that is generally it's it's
(01:08:08):
it's been leading up to this the whole the whole time, right,
and it finally has become that end of the way
they do it is really interesting. I didn't see as
of course I should have seen this coming, but it
was really smart, very smart, Like I mean, like that
wasn't really The fact that this season is choosing to
start off coming out swinging in this way is so
(01:08:29):
interesting to because in the present day, like the four
women are kind of spread out, which I'm like, all right,
I'm gonna follow this for a little bit. I do
love it when they're all together. I personally like love
Like my favorite parts of last season was when all
four women in the modern day where who doesn't want
four actresses at the top of their game tearing it up.
It was giving me Desperate Housewives love. It was like
full on, like it is lost me, it's desperate house
So I yes, but with the showtimege, with that showtime edge,
(01:08:53):
and I'm really excited to see where the season goes well.
I was talking to Live to Live and when they
were on, Um, I haven't seen Jasmine in a while,
but I was talking to Live because they were on
John Lovett's show. Yes, Yes, And I was asking them backstage.
I was like, so this season is an earlier than
the last season and they were like absolutely, and they
were like, yeah, end of episode two is going to
(01:09:16):
be a moment. And then um, towards the end of
the season, I think it's like they said, like episodes
six and ten or something like, there's more moments that
are even further than that. Like by the end of
the second season, it's like fucking rip roaring, and you
can't do that. You personally not Roger. It's not it's
I'm not. I'm just saying and you, I totally get it. Yeah,
(01:09:39):
but I support and I think go off and I'll
but it's just it's just not how I want to
spend an hour. Get it. I totally get it. I
wish I wasn't like this as I gaze off. I
don't think you need to change a thing. See, this
is when I question if I'm a finalist. Nah, I'm so,
I'm crying, I'm I'm whipping. It's been so hard hearing
(01:10:03):
you say that you have doubts about being a finalist
is shake I won't except No, I'm a finalist. You
are the finalist, Thank your queen. You are. Like Wise,
what is going to be our big finalist moment when
we go to Disney World? Like, do you think it's
gonna be tron trona finalists? You did it in China?
I did in China. Just been seven years ago, Wow,
(01:10:26):
and I still remember it like it was yesterday. I
can still see the China. The China never been used used.
Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was
it really was. Now I think it's time to go
(01:10:49):
I don't Think It's time for sort of the final
st F I N A l e s t the
finalest part of any episode of Lost Culture Race. That's
the podcast with Matt Rodgers and bow Yang, which you
know is the current reigning Best Podcast Award winner from
the iHeart Podcast Awards. The podcast has received critical acclaim
and been cited in academic work for the host insight
(01:11:11):
into the entertainment industry, and it is probably perhaps best
known for its segment I don't Think so Honey, which
you know, at one time did have a sold out
national tour. This is a sixty second segment that we
do on every episode wherein the hosts absolutely drag, destroy,
and deconstruct things in the culture that need a dragging
to another dye. Traditionally, I do go first. This is Matt,
(01:11:35):
by the way, this has been my voice the whole time.
That's Boon Yang. Hello. He'll be second in the I
don't Think so Honey segment. I do have something Okay,
this is Matt Rodgers. I don't think so honey. His
time starts now. I don't Think so Honey. Of the
two thousand and three Best Animated Film Oscar should not
have gone to Shrek. It should have gone to Monsters Inc.
When you think about the age old question of Shrek
(01:11:56):
versus Monsters, Inc. You have to really sit down and
really act like a finalist and know that Monsters Inc.
Is better. It is funny in a real way. Conceptually
it is fucking brilliant. The fact that like monsters are
going into kids rooms to get scares to power their world,
and the twist at the end of the film is
that they actually do that with laughs, and it's even
more powerful. That to me, is a thematic message that
(01:12:19):
kids can understand and adults can enjoy as well. This
was a tour to force Billy Crystal performance. Okay, you know,
Mike Wazowski, you love the girl. My thing with Shrek
is it's not that it's not brilliant. It's not that
it's not funny, but it was sort of, um five seconds,
it was disgusting. Shreck was gross. I don't think so, honey.
(01:12:42):
That's one minute. This is such an important conversation because
that's why I brought it up. While I agree, while
I agree with you, oh God, I've got a Shrek
lover and Shrek. Shrek is getting the test of time.
And there is such a multi generational monocultural again the quality. Yeah, like,
(01:13:05):
did you like everyone is is fucking and sucking in
the streets because they're like, there might be a Shrek five.
The euphoria with which the Shrek five announcement soft announcement
was met with, I was like, this is something you know,
we also understand is like the puss in boots of
it all. It's huge, even which is again which is
streaming on a Peacock, which we again love. It's a finalist.
(01:13:28):
Peacock is a violists. Well, there's a category at less culture,
sotis culture. What's called Streamer of the Year, Streamer of
the Year, and there we can announce at this time
that Peacock is a finalist, is a finalists a nominee
category prison it's got amazing reviews. Yes, it's the posting
boots of it all. It's literally monsters inc. Is genius
movie as a film, it is superior, superior. Shrek does
(01:13:51):
have this lasting power in the culture for its unfortunate
meme potential. Shrek has the word that girl ability. That
girl ability is a new word in the culture. When
someone has the ability to be that girl, that girl
and I understand that I get iconography more than almost
(01:14:13):
anyone I know. I understand iconography when I when something hits.
I hear you, sister, so interesting that you prefer Monsters
inc Over Shrek. I understand the film. But Shrek is
very Matt Rogers. Shrek is very This is such a
dark No, no, no, no, no, it's not because it's
It's okay. Here's a stupid fucking scene in which the
(01:14:36):
gingerbread Man and Lord Farkard are going to recite the
muffin Man. Okay, I did like that. Here is a
scene where um Duluck is the song du Luck is
welcome to do Luck. Such a perfect town here. We
have some rules. Let us lay them down. Don't make waves,
stay in line and we'll get a lot fine. Du
Luck is a perfect place. Please keep up of the
(01:14:57):
grass on your shoes, wipe your face. Duck is Dulock
is Dulock is upper Slam. I definitely watched that a
million times on the DVD. I would just rewind it
again and again and again in a way I hadn't
(01:15:17):
done in many years. I'm not saying that there's not
iconic things about Shrek. I'm just saying as a film
Monster z Inc it is also brings the emotion. Of course,
the last shot Monsters Zinc. That will be a tear
jerker for all. Oh my god, it's a finalist for
a Best Seam up is tear jerker. Obviously, first ten minutes, verse,
(01:15:39):
fifteen minutes, Monster Zinc builds, fucking gets you, gets you hard,
fucking guts you like a fish in the end, gets
you hard. But no, I mean, here's the thing. It's like,
I just think, in looking back, like what was a
better film? What was a better film? Readers ask yourself
that real question? What was a better film? That we
(01:16:00):
know the answer I'm saying, I'm not Shrek is important.
But he was disgusting. And this is what I was
saying at the end. Trek was disgusting. He was always
covered in poop and fart, but and disgusting swamp. But
Shrek gave you. Shrek gave you, Jennifer Saunders seeing holding
out for a hero, Not the first Shrek, not the
(01:16:20):
first shruck. Shrek gave you, Rupert Everett playing a prince
m not the first truck anytime, Rupert Everett, We're not
talking about Trek two three, or four ever after? Is
that what it's called Shrek Forever After? No, Shrek Forever After,
that's what it is. Okay, Shrek the Third struck forever
and Cameron Diaz still does these movies even though she's
quote unquote retired or now she's not. I'm confused about
(01:16:44):
They might, well, Camerond has retired after Shrek Forever After.
They're not. They're not sure she's gonna be involved in
Truck five. Okay, but I would hope that she is.
I mean, if there's no Fiona, then we're dealing with
a real Princess Peach situation. Where where are the women?
Where are the women? Anytime I walk into the room,
I go, where are the women? It's a Princess Peach situation.
(01:17:05):
I'm not seeing enough women and I didn't see anyone
I came there today. Well, this is a great day,
but I'm not seeing enough women. And I didn't see
enough women, women or color when I walked into the rooms.
So funny, how like we'd treated merit Ellen Pompeia leaving
(01:17:25):
Grace's an enemy with nothing, nothing, no fanfare. She quietly left,
quietly left the show. Is she not anymore? But she's
still doing the she's still doing the voice over in
the beginning. Oh well, thank god. Yeah, we can't deal
with someone else doing that. But she's just not on
the show. She's not on the show, but kind of
did a Darrell Hammond left the show, still doing the
voices up top. Well that's good, you know. Yeah, and
(01:17:46):
we love and both of them deserve Well. I'm happy
that we finally talked about this. Trek and Monster's inc
of it all. This actually came up in my group
chat the other day amongst LA gay men, and it
got personal so much so that some people in the
group Chad were texting me like, I feel like people
are being mean to me because I like Shrek, and
I was like, I refuse to engage in this. Lewis
Rodel did say something very funny on our grouptup, which
(01:18:08):
was that Shrek was the end of all things tasteful
and glamorous. It was the end of glamor and taste.
And I do believe that Trek was the end of
glamor about but I don't care about those things exclusively.
There is no coordinate system for anyone to pinpoint when
was the end of I know what Lewis means. I
(01:18:29):
think he knows you think he's being hyperbolic. I think
he's being Yeah, okay, well listen, here's what I'll say.
This is a discussion point for going forward, everyone readers.
One of the questions that you're going to have to
answer Katie in the weeks coming up as the weeks
draw in, Um, when was the end of Glamor and Taste?
That's the discussion topic for next week. UM. We won't
follow up on it, but we want yell to be
(01:18:49):
talking about and thinking about it, and please sort of
on Twitter if it still exist, reach out and let
us know when you think the end of Glamor and
Taste was, because certainly it's hasn't been around and round. Um,
this is time for bone Yang. I don't think so, honey.
And it's gonna be very similar to the one I
did in duration. Um as is custom bone Yang. Are
(01:19:10):
you're ready? Yeah? This is bone Yang. Don't think so, honey.
Time starts now, I don't think so. Any taking a
wide stance while you're getting your milks and sugars at
the coffee shop, compact yourself. Okay, let us get in
so that we may also get a lid for our
damn drink. Thank you. I'm not walking out here in
these streets with an open cup, open container. I'm putting
(01:19:32):
a lid on it, and you're not. You're getting in
my way. If you are doing the splits in front
of me at the milk counter thirty seconds, you're on fire.
I need you to Actually, this is New York. We
need to make space for each other. It's like I'm
seeing everybody with backpacks on the subway leaning on the poles.
(01:19:52):
I'm going, did the starter pack get lost in the mail?
Because the narrative guess what it's because the narrati of this,
I went to Yale, and now I moved to the
city and I worked in McKenzie's, popped off the train
at LGA with my dream in my card. Again, that's all.
That's one minute. And if you are the girl that
(01:20:12):
we we we were dressed were just if you're the
girl we saw one of the best coffee shops in Brooklyn,
Land to see love that place. If you're that girl,
then yeah, we are talking about We're talking about you.
You were taking a wide stance at the milks for
a long time, long time and here's the thing. Okay,
this is something I think it's really important to say.
And we're gonna shout out the coffee shops that do this.
(01:20:33):
There are stations at those tables. There is a little
section where there's sugar. There's a little shocks on where
there's lids, and then there's the coffee, the creamers rather
literally horizontally spaced out. You can move down the line,
down the line, I pray, tell, are we standing in
the middle. It's it's like you're playing whack them all.
This is the theme. You don't need a stance. This
(01:20:54):
is the theme for life. Keep it moving, keep it
moving now now and this is like something so big
going forward that bone and I are energy for for
right now is keeping me. Oh are you a new
gay man? Keep you moving in to see you later.
I don't talk to you, No new gay men, no
new gay man this year. I'm only talking to my girls.
(01:21:18):
I'm just kidding. He's not. Yeah, I might be ready
to talk to gay man against that soon. I love that.
Whenever you're ready. Yeah, I'm kind of hidden. Pause. My
ass been on pause, but you're you are about months
been on pause. Paws, Oh whoa think about that. About
that on pause? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you sat on pause.
(01:21:40):
I would like to share a story of something that
happened recently, though I did have one hookup. Oh and
I something happened that was really funny. I was talking
about doing a scenario with this person. Okay, I've never
done a scenario. I haven't really, but I don't think
you told me about this. The scenario was going to
be coach and player. Great, so he was going to
(01:22:01):
be coach and I was gonna be a player, and
we actually started it, but it was really dropped in
and it was I think maybe too dropped in because
he started to laugh and said, I think you might
be too good at improv. And then we had regular sex,
which was fantastic, but I did think it was one
of the funniest things ever to get the show that
to get soon he said the same thing. I literally
(01:22:24):
was like, I think we had three three lines in
and like it was just it was funny because he goes,
I think it might be too real. I think you're
too good at improv. That's so funny. Nobody steal that
we are scripting this to the word I think you
were too good at improv? Seconds before sex, I was like, God, thanks,
thankful for the Lord. I was thankful for the Lord
(01:22:45):
that day. That was really good. Guess what if you're
out here and your chuckle fucking you got, you gotta
just be like, Okay, I'm having sex with a funny person,
so I gotta just like accept commit your name in
terms of one, yeah, take two a one, or at
(01:23:05):
the very least, don't comment on it. No, I loved it.
Actually maybe horny. I love love. And then we laughed
and laughed, and then I took a wide stance, if
you know what I mean. Honey Bottom era Bottom era
break up era bottommera. This has been what I would
call a barn burner. There was never a dull moment.
Chars are era. It actually really recalled, I would say,
and honest conversation. Was that Higher Island? Yes it was.
(01:23:29):
That was a reoriginated for Tarzard era. Isn't it funny? Didn't? Oh?
This is a Sunday Talk Sunday Morning. Sunday Morning. Sunday
Morning Talk is the title of this episode, and it's
sort of as a sister app to an honest conversation. Absolutely,
whenever we just really drill in on the fact that
what we're really doing here is talking and say we're
used words like conversation talk. Like that says to me, branding,
(01:23:53):
you know what I mean? Like it says, this is
a podcast that is talking and that you know, not
a lot of other podcasts are that, or they don't,
They're not up front and honest about it. This is
a podcast where there's going to be a lot of talking.
It's called a Sunday Morning Talk. Now you make the
decision your move, okay, you're a move or just keep
(01:24:13):
it moving or keep it Oh my god. The theme
is keep it moving, your move, keep it moving. It's
an option. That's actually rual culture Ruldre number ninety nine.
Keep it moving, It's an option. Well, I'm so glad
I spent this time with you. Like Wise, I'm actually
if we're gonna believe this, I'm actually on my way
to see another Broadway show. I'm so happy for you.
(01:24:35):
Can you want to tell people what it is I'm
seeing Peter Pan goes wrong? Stay tuned, stay tuned. Well,
this was fabulous, fabulous. This was a culture catch up forever.
This is a culture catch up forever. We didn't talk
about Succession. I feel like Hunter Harris has all your
Succession needs. Hi, this is Matt right now. In the
episode we discussed Succession a little bit, and we had
only seen the first two episodes. We have not seen
(01:24:56):
at this point the third episode of Successions fourth season,
and which is, of course we don't now know, one
of the great episodes of television of all time, so apologies.
We will discuss the episode later. It is this episode
of Lost Cultures is only flaw and we apologized all
right back to the episode recorded hours prior to Successions
(01:25:18):
third app Sara's Snook is a finalist. Wow, absolutely absolutely
so is Jeremy. I mean, I'm triggered by Kendall Roy, Jeremy,
Jeremy Strong. And Karen's a finalist. Karen's a finalist. Brian
can't forget Brian, can't forget him, can't forget Justine Loop
(01:25:39):
as a finalist. I forget her. I can't forget Jay Cameron.
She is a finalist. I want to see more Jerry.
I'm needing more Jerry. I'm needing more Jerry too. I
will say this also giving a finalist performance in the
first episode and in the series at largest, Miss Cherry
Jerry Joe, Jerry Joe the Great Artist's perfect acting of
rich woman walking into a living room being I've had
(01:26:01):
a terrible headache. Sorry to keep you waiting, perfect Sorry
to keep You waiting after Jerry Jones will nail that well.
She probably does in her real life absolutely well. At
the end of every episode with a song I think
of bye one. Yeah. If you want to hear the
(01:26:21):
rest of that, you can listen to the debut album
of Kimberly Locke. I believe it's called one Heart. Love
that because you famously only do have one. Sometimes when
you meet someone else it can be two, but then
it eventually becomes one. Not in breakou stay safe, out
for everybody. And the last thing we want to say
is on three one two three Katie, you're a finalist.
(01:26:46):
Bye
