were last night, OMG. But it reminds me of going
back to my first Tory story of my very first
oscar party when I was seventeen. Oh and how in

But I'll get to that later. And well, I'm a
mom of five now. I don't go to the fancy
award parties or the after parties. Actually never been to
the Academy Awards. I've yeah, I've been to the Golden Globes,
I think, not the SAG Awards. Definitely the Emmys, but

I watched them from home. Now, if I watched them
at all, I went from like attending and getting gussied
up way back when before kids, and like, oh god,
it's been all day and have stylists and you just
look like dress the nines and you go to these

after parties and it was all about going and who
you would see and who would see you and all
of that. Then I went to like having parties at
home and just like watching the award shows on TV
with my friends and cooking and stuff. And then I
went to like Okay, Now I'm just gonna watch the
Red Carpet and see the dresses. And now I hate

to admit it, I think I look online on social
media and just get a rundown. Who won call it
a day? God, I'm old. Anyway, it brings to mind
my very first Academy Award after party that I went to,
and oh, I remember this like it was just yesterday.

And my best friend, my gusband, Moron, will never forget this.
Sorry Moran. Anyway, I was seventeen, so that would be
like nineteen ninety two, I thank you. Uh no, nineteen
ninety nine one. I graduate, Yeah, nineteen ninety just start
at NIO two and oh, so like nyotwo and oh

was taken off, and I was like, you know, teen sensation,
it was a big deal. But I still was like,
you know, you know those movies where it's like student
by day hooker by night. I don't know why I'm
saying that. Oh. In fact, I did a TV movie
called co Ed Call Girl. Yeah, but I was like

living the dream like student by day, because I always
when I started NIO two and O, I was sixteen
when it started. Well, Moon did the pilot and started production.
I think like almost seventeen. But the deal was my
mom and dad really wanted me to stay in high school,
so I was like full time, like I was a student,

full time actor, like going back and forth and you know,
and then on weekends like being like, you know, a teen,
but I was having like my teen parties, like house
parties with my friends, you know, in the valley. And
then I was going, you know, on other nights to
like Academy award after parties. So it was like living

such a two dimensional life of like a teen like
Hollywood star and then a regular teen somehow making it
all work. Oh fun times. I remember I got invited
to this big after party and it was at I
want to say, I want to say I always remember,

but no, no, no, no, you know where it was. Where was?
I think it was at the Bolage Hotel, which I
ironically is where we always filled nine o two to
zero scenes for like Dylan's you know, well culor Rebad
where Donna was in the red leather like jacket and
hot pants and caught her mom cheating. But also it's

where Dylan McKay lived. So this party was an after
party after well, not like an after party and going
on many years after that, going to like the big
after parties. I then realized that this was not a
huge one, but it was my first one. I was excited,
and you could actually go and watch the Oscars, so

it's not really an after party. And I talked my
best friend Maran into going, and we had school the
next day. It was on a Sunday night. I wasn't
filming nine on one O. The next day we had
school and he had a curfew and we had to
go and he had school and I didn't. I don't know,
but I'm like, please we go with me. I was invited,

and I probably talked it up to make it sound
much more exciting than it was, as I do because
I'm a good storyteller and can talk anyone into anything.
It's talent. But I said to him like, oh my gosh,
you know, it's the Academy Awards and they're gonna, you know,
screen it there. And in my mind though, and it's

not like I made it something. It wasn't. I didn't know,
and I thought like, okay, it's at this big famous
hotel and they said it was catered. You know, it
was catered and they had like bars, even though we
were too young for that, and it was decors and
you know, they were screening it. So in my mind,

I'm like, we're gonna go to this hotel. It's gonna
be this massive production. It's gonna be like I'm thinking
Wolf game Puck. You know, even though he's carrying the oscars,
why would he do this like after party slash not
the after party screener party, which means no big stars
go to that, because you're at the Academy Awards and
go to the after party afterwards. AnyWho, I thought it

was gonna be like big screens and we'll watch it.
So Moran and I get all gussied up and so
like I'm all talking black tie because I you know,
even then I knew like, okay, I'm not going to
the Academy Awards. I'm going to something else. So I
think it was like, you know, I wore like cocktail
and morn dressed nice and like we went and we

were two teens like totally displaced, like walking into the
hotel and here's the thing when you're going to what
you think is a big party and it's like you know,
in the industry, which means there's press and everything no
to oneself, like I should have known walking in when

I walked to the hotel and there's like no press outside.
We had to like it was like wandering through those
halls where you're like hello, anything, anyone, We're lost. We
can't find it, like nobody's there. We like couldn't find it.
We finally find a room which was like a conference room,
just saying and opened the door and it was catered

like there was like a couple. It had some high tops,
like some cocktail tables, very nice linens, Okay, I'll give
it that, some flaurels in the middle, and then they
had like you know, stations not plural, like a station.
I don't know. I always get excited when there's like
a seafood tower. I think that was there. Fine, some plates.
(07:37):
There was some like hot or dirvs. I'm not sure
if there was like waiters doing past apps like I
think it was stationary like feed yourself again, not highbrow,
but you know my I think I had my first
publicist on nine O two one zero. This is how
you know, fake it till you make it. In this

was like a big deal. So I feel like I
had just started on to and oh, it was just
kind of blowing up. And it was definitely like the
invites were coming in. I had a publicist, which I

didn't know this world. Well, I knew the world because
of my dad. And my dad, you know, he had
a publicist. He obviously got invited to huge, massive parties,
and it was a big deal watching it from that
perspective growing up. But here I am kind of trying
to separate myself from my dad, like always been Aaron

Spelling's daughter. Nine o two and zero was taking off.
I'm becoming like a star in my own right. And
you know, I remember my dad being like, you need
a publicist, And so I got a publicist, and I
was starting to get invites given you know, I'm only seventeen,

so it wasn't like I was going to these like
crazy out Hollywood like invites. But this was definitely like
my first invite to something that in my opinion, I
was like, Oh, it's massive. It's the Academy Awards, you know,
in Hollywood or even just growing up in La or
any any little girl that lives anywhere, like the Academy Awards, Oscars,

Like that's big time. That's like a dream. And to
be invited to my first party, I was like it
was huge. I don't remember about my other co stars
what they were invited to. I'm sure every we were
at that point where we were suddenly the it kids,
(09:48):
but like it was like one step before the kids.
We were like it was a lowercase I, which you know,
in like six months to a year later, we were
it with a capital IE. So it was just all
kind of rolling in. So to get that invitation and gosh,

this is back before you know you got formal invitations.
You didn't get like inn the email, see the invitation,
Like it was just like a call that you got
like hey, we have this opportunity for you. You've been
invited and would you like to attend? Hell yeah. So

to me, I was like, oh my gosh, this is
super exciting. So I went in there with like my
eyes just wide, like being that. I know everyone's like, well,
you grew up in Hollywood, like you know, your dad's
uber famous. But for me again, like I still had
that like little girl and me, like my friends. I

had my nine o two and zero famous friends and
then I had my group of friends that you know,
they would be like they weren't in the industry. The
normal I had normal and then I had my like
Hollywood life, so back then, like that was before Like
I never, you, guys, I've always been into fashion since
(11:11):
I was young, and my mom super amazing at fashion,
so I grew up always loving it and kind of
doing my own jam. I never was the stylist girl,
like I never. Not that I haven't had stylists. I
definitely have an amazing ones that I've worked with. But
(11:32):
whereas most people wanted to have a stylist even back then,
I think it wasn't as prolific then as it is now.
But anyway, I definitely probably not probably I know styled
myself for sure, and I definitely went to the mall.
And I want to say, like, I was always a

girl that went like high low and at the time
I probably do you were contempo casuals. I'm really dating myself. Okay,
So there used to be a store in the mall. Specifically,
I typically shopped at the Beverly Center, which became the
Beverly Connection, which is definitely I don't know what it

is now losy Aaga and Beverly Boulevard, in La. It's
a big like shopping mall. Back then it was like
the bomb, Like it was like where everybody went, and
contempo casuals they had them everywhere. It was Oh okay,
(12:36):
I'm gonna break it down. So contempo casuals back then
was what forever twenty one is now. Yeah, dead on.
So I definitely probably got an outfit from there or Spree.
Do you remember Spree? Nobody does? Oh my gosh, you guys,
this is so sad. Anyway, so I probably got a

little dress from there and then like paired it with
like something high end, like, oh god, I was really into.
They weren't called booties back then, you know how they
had like cowboy boots, but it would have like no
heel remember those. It wasn't just boots. You would have
the front of like a really like trend like chiic shoe,

and then there was just no back to it. It
was like a mule a mule. Oh real suck, don't they.
I mean I've really.

Because they're kind of like an elevated slip on loafer.

Well, put, you just made me fall in love with
them again. Wow you're alome? Yeah, thank you? Oh right, yeah,
I believe like Gucci like like brought that back in right,
would have like the Gucci lo for like and then
the fur in the back right definitely yeah fuver for

of course. Uh Anyway, Okay, I want to say I
wore a lot of those. Those were Varian guests made
them like nobody's business. But for this, no, no, no,
I remember, and I wore Hosary back then, and like
for a seventeen year old girl like Hosary, I don't know,

they were thick, they were they had sheen to them
and not needed like I didn't need hose. Like back then,
I had like great legs, so like I don't even know.
It was just it was the time period and they
would always have too much of a sheene. And I
always like looking back at photos, it was like one shade,
two lights, so it just like picked up that light

and you're like, oh, what did I wear that? But
I probably had uh in chunky heels were in then
with like a strap two strap, so I probably had
shoes like that. And then like a high end like
jacket or something I was just starting to get into,
like oh high and low and or like a cute bag. Anyway,

I'm sure I did my own hair and makeup because
like I was just starting, so it wasn't a thing.
Like I didn't know to like get glammed. That wasn't
a thing anyway. So Moron and I back too. We
walk in and like we're like hello, hello, conference room. Okay,

single station, no waiters, like and then there's, uh, there's
a bar, so you know, we're oh in like TVs.
You guys, they had like TVs and places and people
were like just seeing there watching or standing and it
was just like, oh my god, this ain't glamorous. The

hell is going on? And then and here we are.
He's sixteen, he's a year younger. He always loves to
remind me of that. So he's sixteen, I'm seventeen. We
can't drink, so we're like at the bar, you know,
having but want to feel like fit in. So like
everyone's having champagne and so we're having like Martinellie's like

sparkling cider, but like put in the nice glass and yeah,
even have nice glasses. It was like plastic, guys. It
wasn't even glass. We're the champagne glasses. Anyway, We're hanging
out and then we saw some younger people come in.
I was like, okay, cool and definitely like I was saying, like, oh,
(16:44):
I recognize him, I recognized her, and there were people
from other shows, so I didn't feel like I totally
didn't fit in anyway. We watch the Academy Awards and
you know, let's face it, seventeen. It was like kind
of I'm I'm in a convention basically, you know, like
(17:08):
in movies you see people go and I don't know,
like if they served dinner there, it'd be like do
you want the chicken or the zimmon? And it's like dry,
so you get neither and you're like, oh, let's have
the veggies. That's a lie ttatoes. Potatoes are always good,
you can't go wrong. But yeah, it wasn't a good look.

And the whole night Morom was just like I can't
believe you dragged me here. And then he's like, okay,
we got to go soon, like and I think they
had like one house photographer, that's how low rent it was,
and the house photographers like Tori over here and I
was like, yes, my big moment, like took a picture
and like that was never serviced anywhere to any magazine

or anything. But anyway, I didn't catch eyes with this
cue boy that I recognize, but he was with like
the group. Oh there's some other like teen kids there
that ran my circle, not circle like we all had,
like you know, famous TV shows and the thing. And

caught eyes with him. He made his way over and
he was like hey, and I was like hey, and
he was like, my friends and I were going to
go back and like hang out and like listen to
some music, and you know, just like do you guys
want to go? And Ron's like, we gotta go. I
have school in the morning, and I was like please,
please please. Yeah, So I made Moran go and they

these boys I remember so probably a little bit older
than us, I'm guessing because they bought his Bartles and James.
You heard Bartles and James. I love the strawberry one.
I'm like dating myself, you guys. It was like the
nineties version of White Claw, but it was in a
bottle with like a twist top and it was called

Bartles and James, which you lost me at that, but
like it was like the fruit flavored and like the
alcohol and the content was super low, but like you know,
when you're young and you drink it, you're like, ah,
I don't know, a placebo effect or you're just young,
and like I probably didn't eat because I was like, yeah,
didn't eat at that little one station that had like

a few like unfrozen meatballs and a seafood tower that
terrified me anyway, although I love a good seafood tower,
but not at like this place anyway. And I get
nervous to eat in front of people, especially there was
a cute boy there, So I probably didn't eat it
all so empty stomach. Bartles and James and here's the thing,
Like we're gonna go to my friend's pad, you know.

That was the thing, and like Moron and I Beverly
Hills kids drove out of our comfort zone like we
were like in the Hollywood Hills and somewhere, and it
was like, no, you know, white you guys. I just
totally glamified that story. It wasn't It was freaking Burbank,
you guys. It was Burbank. And then it was in

the nineties and he's like, yeah, my pet, my friend's
pass this cool house. It like wasn't a house, it
was like a town home and it was like on
the second floor like whatever. It was just like and
I'm pretty sure they like rented a room anyway. I
don't really know because I never went inside because like
he came out and he was like here you guys,
(20:30):
and we just like drank Bartles and James. Like. I
was like, I thought we were going to listen to music,
which back then not a music girl, like I did
not want to and Moron was like, oh my god,
like totally sheet gay. He was like, are you kidding me?
Where we are? Like this is like crazy. He's like yeah. Anyway,
he was like, okay, we're not getting out of my car.

And I forgot to mention that Moron had just gotten
his first car. So he had turned sixteen year younger
and he got a green BMW which is a very
fancy car. And I still like say to him to
this day, like why green, like and it wasn't just
a green, it was like a green teal, very into colors.

It was I don't know it was, it was something,
but he had just gotten it. So his birthday is
late September and this is oscar, so it's March brand new.
It is spanking new. I don't even think other than school.
He had even gone out at night with it because
we were young. But he takes me. We're in it,

he's driving, I'm in the passenger. He didn't drink, and
he was like you can drink because he had to
go to school and he was driving very always been
very like on points. So I drank and I remember
sitting in his passenger sy and like these boys arely
hanging out and they were like walking around smoking, handing

me Bartles and James, which I was trying to fit in,
like drinking them and uh. And then marn saved my
life that night because then the boy was like okay, hey,
and I can't ra if I kissed him. I totally
kissed him. Uh, and he was like, okay, why are
you come inside? Like we're gonna now, we're gonna go
upstairs and listen to music. And Maron's like she's going

home and I was like, what are you talking about?
I just want to stay. He hates this side of
me because this is when oh, my alter ego, Terry
she comes out. I just remembered this was Terry's oh
my gosh, not initiation like coming out party, but what
(22:44):
does like a girl have like a coronation when she's
like introduced to society. Nope, not that. So it was
my King Sinara, you guys anyway presented to society introducing Terry.
I never knew when she started, Like when she first
came out, I just put all the pieces together, you guys,

and it's cathartic. It's like therapy. So now I know
when this bitch was released. And oh my god, So
I was seventeen when she was released. Wow, love it.
So Terry came out and I'm like, I'm not going anywhere.
Terry has a voice like that, and Maron's like, you're
totally going and this guy was like, she's not going anywhere.

Did you hear like she wants to come. We're gonna
like play music. My friend has a band, and thank
god for Wrong's. I don't know what would have happened
to me, total virgin at the time. So like that's
bad news. Being not that these boys had any mal intent.
I'm just saying, you can never be too safe. So

he stole me away from this boy that could have
gone on to be my boyfriend, could have gone on
to be my husband or an ex. I don't know
who knows. So he put his foot down and he said,
we're going now. So he takes me and at this
point we're like in Burbank. We're like way up in

the Burbank Hills. Is that a thing, you guys? Bourbank Kills?
Don't you know? Where it gets windy? Hollywood? Like it's
near like the overpass, and it's like you're kind of
in North Hollywood, but you're kind of in Burbank, not Burbank.
I'm close, do you know what I'm talking about? You guys.
Definitely in the hills. I'm gonna tell you why. Because

it was windy as buck and so Maron's like, we're
going and I was like okay, and anyway, I'm sure
I was like slouched over. I drank too much. Shouldn't
have been drinking at seventeen. He's taking me home. All
I wanted to do was stay with the boy because
I was like, oh my god, he could wearar my

future husband. And we're driving it's windy. Moron's like so
mad at me because he's like, oh my god, I
just got my license recently. Like it's super dark out
and by the way, I forgot to mention as well.
I had a curfew. I was starring on nine O
two one. Oh, I was a huge teen star and

I still had a curfew. I oh, and always earlier
than everyone else. So screw that Moron had to be
at school. I had my curfew. And it's probably like
eleven thirty. Oh my god, I'm such a dork, imagine,
And I'm not kidding even at eighteen, at eighteen, like
I moved out at eighteen, almost nineteen, but before that,
(25:40):
I had a curfew then, and like everybody was going
to like the huge places, and my mom would be like,
you be home by one. I'm like one, and she's
like yeah, I'm like okay, and I was like eighteen,
but I'm lying it was twelve thirty. I was just
embarrassed and trying to make myself sound cool. Okay, So uh,
I had my curfew. Maron had to be at school.
(26:04):
I had drank too many Bartles and James Lightweight. It
was like three percent alcohol, maybe two point five, and
I had too many. I probably had like half of one,
let's be realistic. And I hadn't eaten. Okay. So he's
like driving and he's like, I'm so mad at you.
Where are we We're like way up in the hills
(26:26):
and it was like right there, but he's driving, and
I'm like, oh my god, I'm getting carsick. I'm drunk,
and long story short. As we get down to the
bottom of the hill, I go, I don't feel so good,
and I promptly puke everywhere. Bartles and James strawberry cream
(26:47):
for days, all over Moron's brand new BMW that he
had just gotten. I puke everywhere, And I mean it's
the type where you're just like, I don't feel good.
I don't feel good, and it's like no time to
even like roll down the window. You like turn and
you're like thinking of rolling down the window with a
(27:08):
finger and it just like projectile onto the window and
then you turn around horrified and you slap your hand
over your mouth. But it's like oozing out between your
fingers and it's just everywhere. Oh he's such a good friend.
He gets me home, he kept going. He got me home.
I made curfew, by the way, winning. Oh he is
(27:32):
so mortified. I'm in my cute dress. He's in like
his first suit. Nah, he would never wear a suit.
He was dressing something nice though. I know that for
a fact. Puke all over me, puke all over him,
puke all over his new car, all over and I
think he had like a cream leather. Oh my god,
(27:55):
it was light colored. Maybe maybe beige. Yeah, beige isn't pretty.
And I couldn't walk. So he carries me. Oh, such
a gentleman. He carries me, all both of us covered
in puke, carries me, and the security from my parents'
house walks out. And he said he couldn't he was
(28:17):
so embarrassed. He couldn't even speak a word. And security
comes out, My mom comes out. He looks at her,
She looks at him, and she just nods, and he
just nods and he hands me over to my security
guard and the rest is history. Yeah, carried me up.

Here's the worst part. I was so embarrassed. It was
my best friend. The whole world still is. I didn't
call him for two weeks. He said he got home
and his parents he didn't even sell me out. His
parents were like, what happened. He's like, someone was in
my car. I don't know, like threw up every where.

They had to have a detailed I know he's from
a very nice family, Like you didn't even take it
somewhere they had someone come and detail it. He's like,
that smell I don't think ever came out. Okay, fine,
maybe I did have a couple of shrimps from the
seafood tower because whatever he said, the smell never came out.
But two weeks we still talk about it. He's like,
I can't believe you just ghosted me, Like you ruined
(29:24):
my car, like mortified me. Like I was so embarrassed
in front of your mom, and like I had to
do the like hand off, like hand it me over
like a like a bag of potatoes. I was like,
oh my gosh. And then I just didn't calm for
(29:44):
two weeks. I was like, I'm so I can't deal
with confrontation. I was so embarrassed. It was easier just
to not contact him. Anyway. We got past it. I
got ground a big TV start, going to an Academy
Awards party, well Pseudo one, and I got grounded. Yeah,

eleven thirty curfew and I got grounded except for work
in school. Yeah. I was grounded for like a month.
Not okay, So, been to the Emmys, Golden Globes, MTB
(30:31):
Movie Awards, what else, American Music Awards, what else was there?
There was two BILLI billboard. Yeah, that was a biggie.
MTV was a little daunting. I remember that you sat
in like theater seats, so it wasn't like you got schmooze.
(30:51):
And afterwards it was cool. I mean the globes was
cool just because everyone like, yeah, even if I couldn't
like legally drink and wasn't drinking, everyone else like if
they could drink, we're just like freer and happier, and

like we would see each other backstage we're presenting, and
it just wasn't I got nervous.

At awards shows just because I get terrified, Like if
I had to present, that was always really scary for me.
I would get super nervous.

So and I was always on edge, like just feeling like,
who's looking at me? Am I doing the right thing?
Do I look okay? Do people like me? I don't
like me? Like and Golden Globes was just like everyone
was in a good, free mood, like they just felt relaxed,
all the actors, so that was always a good time.
I did have a nip slip situation at the what
(31:54):
was I presenting at it? It was either the Billboard Music
Awards or the American Music Awards. So it was during
the phase where I had platinum hair and I had
like the corkscrew curls, very like Drew Berry Moore, thin eyebrows,
big dark lips, and this was one I got styled for.

And I had this like light blue, kind of shimmery
see through almost like a suit. So it was like
a blouse of sorts, a top one button or two buttons,
and then the rest was kind of open, so I
still had my belly showing and then like pants. And
(32:42):
at the time it was like I was all about
like tight dresses and everything, so I was trying to
try something new and a stylus had been like, oh,
this will look great. So I was styled for this
glam for this, and I guess we didn't take into
consideration that it was like see through. And yeah, I
(33:05):
was dating Patrick muldoon at the time, who was had
we done a TV movie together, but he went with
me was my dates. I was super excited about that,
and I remember doing the press and like as soon
as the flashes went off, I could hear everybody like
chit chattering, and of course I'm like, oh, what what
(33:26):
are they looking at? So not my good side? Oh god,
turn to the right side, my left side, my quote
unquote right side, my good side. But it's my left side. No, no,
it's my right side. Turn to the left anyway, I digress.
I could hear like all because it's a sea like
and it was the red carpet for it, and I
(33:48):
was a presenter, so it was a big deal. And
I just remember like this, I'm looking up flashes everywhere.
I couldn't even see the sea of paparazzi and like
levels of them, and I could just hear people be like,
oh my god. And my publicist like swooped in and
(34:08):
was like whispered, like, wait, we have to like she
took me off, and U yeah, you could either see
through my top or at a nip slip. We can
google it pretty sure. I thought it was like, I
don't think I wore a bra and there it was
back before like you put on like the nip cover ups.

So I think you could just literally see it. Oh,
I know what it was. So I think I had
just gotten my boob job a little bit before that.
So they were very like perkying out there and hard
and didn't fall, and I the top was cut open

it's all coming back to me now, I'll coming back
to me. No, say, yeah, that's what it was. So
the photos that are online probably she had me adjust
or something, but they were getting some angles because you
know paparazzi, they were at all different angles and they're
trying to get the shot they want that shot that's

not the good shot, and any any kind of wind
or anything, nothing was coming right up. So it just
you could see. It's maybe the ones that are online
now they didn't go out. The other ones I maybe
she killed them. You could see from certain angles through
that shirt you could see the entire boot. She had

to readjust me, literally, she readjusted me. We stopped the
press line, I went backstage, and then uh, I was
good to go with some like scotch tape bundle bundled
up under there or something maybe another button. Oh you
know what it was, Uh, the award show. Someone backstage

they did a quick fix, like in wardrobe. They came
out and sewed it up a little bit longer, and
then I presented and moved on. Yeah, that was a
wardrobe malfunction that day. So that's my first awards party
and it was it didn't have a happy ending for moron. Uh.

It was sadly not my last interaction with Bartles and James.
And then I told you my most infamous wardrobe malfunction
on the red carpet. This is why I love doing
this podcast for you guys, because as I start to
talk about one thing, I remember things that I'm like,
oh my god, and then this happened. So I'm glad

today I discovered for the first time the origin of

save that. My first award show party and my first

were last night, OMG. But it reminds me of going
back to my first Tory story of my very first
oscar party when I was seventeen. Oh and how in

a Tory way it all led to a nip slip.
But I'll get to that later. And well, I'm a
mom of five now. I don't go to the fancy
award parties or the after parties. Actually never been to
the Academy Awards. I've yeah, I've been to the Golden Globes,
I think, not the SAG Awards. Definitely the Emmys, but

I watched them from home. Now, if I watched them
at all, I went from like attending and getting gussied
up way back when before kids, and like, oh god,
it's been all day and have stylists and you just
look like dress the nines and you go to these

after parties and it was all about going and who
you would see and who would see you and all
of that. Then I went to like having parties at
home and just like watching the award shows on TV
with my friends and cooking and stuff. And then I
went to like Okay, Now I'm just gonna watch the
Red Carpet and see the dresses. And now I hate

to admit it, I think I look online on social
media and just get a rundown. Who won call it
a day? God, I'm old. Anyway, it brings to mind
my very first Academy Award after party that I went to,
and oh, I remember this like it was just yesterday.

And my best friend, my gusband, Moron, will never forget this.
Sorry Moran. Anyway, I was seventeen, so that would be
like nineteen ninety two, I thank you. Uh no, nineteen
ninety nine one. I graduate, Yeah, nineteen ninety just start
at NIO two and oh, so like nyotwo and oh

was taken off, and I was like, you know, teen sensation,
it was a big deal. But I still was like,
you know, you know those movies where it's like student
by day hooker by night. I don't know why I'm
saying that. Oh. In fact, I did a TV movie
called co Ed Call Girl. Yeah, but I was like

living the dream like student by day, because I always
when I started NIO two and O, I was sixteen
when it started. Well, Moon did the pilot and started production.
I think like almost seventeen. But the deal was my
mom and dad really wanted me to stay in high school,
so I was like full time, like I was a student,
(03:10):
full time actor, like going back and forth and you know,
and then on weekends like being like, you know, a teen,
but I was having like my teen parties, like house
parties with my friends, you know, in the valley. And
then I was going, you know, on other nights to
like Academy award after parties. So it was like living
(03:32):
such a two dimensional life of like a teen like
Hollywood star and then a regular teen somehow making it
all work. Oh fun times. I remember I got invited
to this big after party and it was at I
want to say, I want to say I always remember,
(03:54):
but no, no, no, no, you know where it was. Where was?
I think it was at the Bolage Hotel, which I
ironically is where we always filled nine o two to
zero scenes for like Dylan's you know, well culor Rebad
where Donna was in the red leather like jacket and
hot pants and caught her mom cheating. But also it's
(04:16):
where Dylan McKay lived. So this party was an after
party after well, not like an after party and going
on many years after that, going to like the big
after parties. I then realized that this was not a
huge one, but it was my first one. I was excited,
and you could actually go and watch the Oscars, so

it's not really an after party. And I talked my
best friend Maran into going, and we had school the
next day. It was on a Sunday night. I wasn't
filming nine on one O. The next day we had
school and he had a curfew and we had to
go and he had school and I didn't. I don't know,
but I'm like, please we go with me. I was invited,

and I probably talked it up to make it sound
much more exciting than it was, as I do because
I'm a good storyteller and can talk anyone into anything.
It's talent. But I said to him like, oh my gosh,
you know, it's the Academy Awards and they're gonna, you know,
screen it there. And in my mind though, and it's

not like I made it something. It wasn't. I didn't know,
and I thought like, okay, it's at this big famous
hotel and they said it was catered. You know, it
was catered and they had like bars, even though we
were too young for that, and it was decors and
you know, they were screening it. So in my mind,
(05:43):
I'm like, we're gonna go to this hotel. It's gonna
be this massive production. It's gonna be like I'm thinking
Wolf game Puck. You know, even though he's carrying the oscars,
why would he do this like after party slash not
the after party screener party, which means no big stars
go to that, because you're at the Academy Awards and
go to the after party afterwards. AnyWho, I thought it

was gonna be like big screens and we'll watch it.
So Moran and I get all gussied up and so
like I'm all talking black tie because I you know,
even then I knew like, okay, I'm not going to
the Academy Awards. I'm going to something else. So I
think it was like, you know, I wore like cocktail
and morn dressed nice and like we went and we

were two teens like totally displaced, like walking into the
hotel and here's the thing when you're going to what
you think is a big party and it's like you know,
in the industry, which means there's press and everything no
to oneself, like I should have known walking in when
(06:49):
I walked to the hotel and there's like no press outside.
We had to like it was like wandering through those
halls where you're like hello, anything, anyone, We're lost. We
can't find it, like nobody's there. We like couldn't find it.
We finally find a room which was like a conference room,
just saying and opened the door and it was catered

like there was like a couple. It had some high tops,
like some cocktail tables, very nice linens, Okay, I'll give
it that, some flaurels in the middle, and then they
had like you know, stations not plural, like a station.
I don't know. I always get excited when there's like
a seafood tower. I think that was there. Fine, some plates.
(07:37):
There was some like hot or dirvs. I'm not sure
if there was like waiters doing past apps like I
think it was stationary like feed yourself again, not highbrow,
but you know my I think I had my first
publicist on nine O two one zero. This is how
you know, fake it till you make it. In this

was like a big deal. So I feel like I
had just started on to and oh, it was just
kind of blowing up. And it was definitely like the
invites were coming in. I had a publicist, which I

didn't know this world. Well, I knew the world because
of my dad. And my dad, you know, he had
a publicist. He obviously got invited to huge, massive parties,
and it was a big deal watching it from that
perspective growing up. But here I am kind of trying
to separate myself from my dad, like always been Aaron

Spelling's daughter. Nine o two and zero was taking off.
I'm becoming like a star in my own right. And
you know, I remember my dad being like, you need
a publicist, And so I got a publicist, and I
was starting to get invites given you know, I'm only seventeen,

so it wasn't like I was going to these like
crazy out Hollywood like invites. But this was definitely like
my first invite to something that in my opinion, I
was like, Oh, it's massive. It's the Academy Awards, you know,
in Hollywood or even just growing up in La or
any any little girl that lives anywhere, like the Academy Awards, Oscars,

Like that's big time. That's like a dream. And to
be invited to my first party, I was like it
was huge. I don't remember about my other co stars
what they were invited to. I'm sure every we were
at that point where we were suddenly the it kids,

but like it was like one step before the kids.
We were like it was a lowercase I, which you know,
in like six months to a year later, we were
it with a capital IE. So it was just all
kind of rolling in. So to get that invitation and gosh,

this is back before you know you got formal invitations.
You didn't get like inn the email, see the invitation,
Like it was just like a call that you got
like hey, we have this opportunity for you. You've been
invited and would you like to attend? Hell yeah. So

to me, I was like, oh my gosh, this is
super exciting. So I went in there with like my
eyes just wide, like being that. I know everyone's like, well,
you grew up in Hollywood, like you know, your dad's
uber famous. But for me again, like I still had
that like little girl and me, like my friends. I

had my nine o two and zero famous friends and
then I had my group of friends that you know,
they would be like they weren't in the industry. The
normal I had normal and then I had my like
Hollywood life, so back then, like that was before Like
I never, you, guys, I've always been into fashion since

I was young, and my mom super amazing at fashion,
so I grew up always loving it and kind of
doing my own jam. I never was the stylist girl,
like I never. Not that I haven't had stylists. I
definitely have an amazing ones that I've worked with. But

whereas most people wanted to have a stylist even back then,
I think it wasn't as prolific then as it is now.
But anyway, I definitely probably not probably I know styled
myself for sure, and I definitely went to the mall.
And I want to say, like, I was always a

girl that went like high low and at the time
I probably do you were contempo casuals. I'm really dating myself. Okay,
So there used to be a store in the mall. Specifically,
I typically shopped at the Beverly Center, which became the
Beverly Connection, which is definitely I don't know what it

is now losy Aaga and Beverly Boulevard, in La. It's
a big like shopping mall. Back then it was like
the bomb, Like it was like where everybody went, and
contempo casuals they had them everywhere. It was Oh okay,

I'm gonna break it down. So contempo casuals back then
was what forever twenty one is now. Yeah, dead on.
So I definitely probably got an outfit from there or Spree.
Do you remember Spree? Nobody does? Oh my gosh, you guys,
this is so sad. Anyway, so I probably got a

little dress from there and then like paired it with
like something high end, like, oh god, I was really into.
They weren't called booties back then, you know how they
had like cowboy boots, but it would have like no
heel remember those. It wasn't just boots. You would have
the front of like a really like trend like chiic shoe,

and then there was just no back to it. It
was like a mule a mule. Oh real suck, don't they.
I mean I've really.

Well, put, you just made me fall in love with

of course. Uh Anyway, Okay, I want to say I
wore a lot of those. Those were Varian guests made
them like nobody's business. But for this, no, no, no,
I remember, and I wore Hosary back then, and like
for a seventeen year old girl like Hosary, I don't know,

they were thick, they were they had sheen to them
and not needed like I didn't need hose. Like back then,
I had like great legs, so like I don't even know.
It was just it was the time period and they
would always have too much of a sheene. And I
always like looking back at photos, it was like one shade,
two lights, so it just like picked up that light

and you're like, oh, what did I wear that? But
I probably had uh in chunky heels were in then
with like a strap two strap, so I probably had
shoes like that. And then like a high end like
jacket or something I was just starting to get into,
like oh high and low and or like a cute bag. Anyway,

I'm sure I did my own hair and makeup because
like I was just starting, so it wasn't a thing.
Like I didn't know to like get glammed. That wasn't
a thing anyway. So Moron and I back too. We
walk in and like we're like hello, hello, conference room. Okay,

single station, no waiters, like and then there's, uh, there's
a bar, so you know, we're oh in like TVs.
You guys, they had like TVs and places and people
were like just seeing there watching or standing and it
was just like, oh my god, this ain't glamorous. The

hell is going on? And then and here we are.
He's sixteen, he's a year younger. He always loves to
remind me of that. So he's sixteen, I'm seventeen. We
can't drink, so we're like at the bar, you know,
having but want to feel like fit in. So like
everyone's having champagne and so we're having like Martinellie's like

sparkling cider, but like put in the nice glass and yeah,
even have nice glasses. It was like plastic, guys. It
wasn't even glass. We're the champagne glasses. Anyway, We're hanging
out and then we saw some younger people come in.
I was like, okay, cool and definitely like I was saying, like, oh,
(16:44):
I recognize him, I recognized her, and there were people
from other shows, so I didn't feel like I totally
didn't fit in anyway. We watch the Academy Awards and
you know, let's face it, seventeen. It was like kind
of I'm I'm in a convention basically, you know, like
(17:08):
in movies you see people go and I don't know,
like if they served dinner there, it'd be like do
you want the chicken or the zimmon? And it's like dry,
so you get neither and you're like, oh, let's have
the veggies. That's a lie ttatoes. Potatoes are always good,
you can't go wrong. But yeah, it wasn't a good look.

And the whole night Morom was just like I can't
believe you dragged me here. And then he's like, okay,
we got to go soon, like and I think they
had like one house photographer, that's how low rent it was,
and the house photographers like Tori over here and I
was like, yes, my big moment, like took a picture
and like that was never serviced anywhere to any magazine

or anything. But anyway, I didn't catch eyes with this
cue boy that I recognize, but he was with like
the group. Oh there's some other like teen kids there
that ran my circle, not circle like we all had,
like you know, famous TV shows and the thing. And

caught eyes with him. He made his way over and
he was like hey, and I was like hey, and
he was like, my friends and I were going to
go back and like hang out and like listen to
some music, and you know, just like do you guys
want to go? And Ron's like, we gotta go. I
have school in the morning, and I was like please,
please please. Yeah, So I made Moran go and they

these boys I remember so probably a little bit older
than us, I'm guessing because they bought his Bartles and James.
You heard Bartles and James. I love the strawberry one.
I'm like dating myself, you guys. It was like the
nineties version of White Claw, but it was in a
bottle with like a twist top and it was called

Bartles and James, which you lost me at that, but
like it was like the fruit flavored and like the
alcohol and the content was super low, but like you know,
when you're young and you drink it, you're like, ah,
I don't know, a placebo effect or you're just young,
and like I probably didn't eat because I was like, yeah,
didn't eat at that little one station that had like
(19:25):
a few like unfrozen meatballs and a seafood tower that
terrified me anyway, although I love a good seafood tower,
but not at like this place anyway. And I get
nervous to eat in front of people, especially there was
a cute boy there, So I probably didn't eat it
all so empty stomach. Bartles and James and here's the thing,
Like we're gonna go to my friend's pad, you know.

That was the thing, and like Moron and I Beverly
Hills kids drove out of our comfort zone like we
were like in the Hollywood Hills and somewhere, and it
was like, no, you know, white you guys. I just
totally glamified that story. It wasn't It was freaking Burbank,
you guys. It was Burbank. And then it was in

the nineties and he's like, yeah, my pet, my friend's
pass this cool house. It like wasn't a house, it
was like a town home and it was like on
the second floor like whatever. It was just like and
I'm pretty sure they like rented a room anyway. I
don't really know because I never went inside because like
he came out and he was like here you guys,
(20:30):
and we just like drank Bartles and James. Like. I
was like, I thought we were going to listen to music,
which back then not a music girl, like I did
not want to and Moron was like, oh my god,
like totally sheet gay. He was like, are you kidding me?
Where we are? Like this is like crazy. He's like yeah. Anyway,
he was like, okay, we're not getting out of my car.

And I forgot to mention that Moron had just gotten
his first car. So he had turned sixteen year younger
and he got a green BMW which is a very
fancy car. And I still like say to him to
this day, like why green, like and it wasn't just
a green, it was like a green teal, very into colors.

It was I don't know it was, it was something,
but he had just gotten it. So his birthday is
late September and this is oscar, so it's March brand new.
It is spanking new. I don't even think other than school.
He had even gone out at night with it because
we were young. But he takes me. We're in it,

he's driving, I'm in the passenger. He didn't drink, and
he was like you can drink because he had to
go to school and he was driving very always been
very like on points. So I drank and I remember
sitting in his passenger sy and like these boys arely
hanging out and they were like walking around smoking, handing

me Bartles and James, which I was trying to fit in,
like drinking them and uh. And then marn saved my
life that night because then the boy was like okay, hey,
and I can't ra if I kissed him. I totally
kissed him. Uh, and he was like, okay, why are
you come inside? Like we're gonna now, we're gonna go
upstairs and listen to music. And Maron's like she's going

home and I was like, what are you talking about?
I just want to stay. He hates this side of
me because this is when oh, my alter ego, Terry
she comes out. I just remembered this was Terry's oh
my gosh, not initiation like coming out party, but what

does like a girl have like a coronation when she's
like introduced to society. Nope, not that. So it was
my King Sinara, you guys anyway presented to society introducing Terry.
I never knew when she started, Like when she first
came out, I just put all the pieces together, you guys,

and it's cathartic. It's like therapy. So now I know
when this bitch was released. And oh my god, So
I was seventeen when she was released. Wow, love it.
So Terry came out and I'm like, I'm not going anywhere.
Terry has a voice like that, and Maron's like, you're
totally going and this guy was like, she's not going anywhere.

Did you hear like she wants to come. We're gonna
like play music. My friend has a band, and thank
god for Wrong's. I don't know what would have happened
to me, total virgin at the time. So like that's
bad news. Being not that these boys had any mal intent.
I'm just saying, you can never be too safe. So

he stole me away from this boy that could have
gone on to be my boyfriend, could have gone on
to be my husband or an ex. I don't know
who knows. So he put his foot down and he said,
we're going now. So he takes me and at this
point we're like in Burbank. We're like way up in

the Burbank Hills. Is that a thing, you guys? Bourbank Kills?
Don't you know? Where it gets windy? Hollywood? Like it's
near like the overpass, and it's like you're kind of
in North Hollywood, but you're kind of in Burbank, not Burbank.
I'm close, do you know what I'm talking about? You guys.
Definitely in the hills. I'm gonna tell you why. Because

it was windy as buck and so Maron's like, we're
going and I was like okay, and anyway, I'm sure
I was like slouched over. I drank too much. Shouldn't
have been drinking at seventeen. He's taking me home. All
I wanted to do was stay with the boy because
I was like, oh my god, he could wearar my

future husband. And we're driving it's windy. Moron's like so
mad at me because he's like, oh my god, I
just got my license recently. Like it's super dark out
and by the way, I forgot to mention as well.
I had a curfew. I was starring on nine O
two one. Oh, I was a huge teen star and

I still had a curfew. I oh, and always earlier
than everyone else. So screw that Moron had to be
at school. I had my curfew. And it's probably like
eleven thirty. Oh my god, I'm such a dork, imagine,
And I'm not kidding even at eighteen, at eighteen, like
I moved out at eighteen, almost nineteen, but before that,
(25:40):
I had a curfew then, and like everybody was going
to like the huge places, and my mom would be like,
you be home by one. I'm like one, and she's
like yeah, I'm like okay, and I was like eighteen,
but I'm lying it was twelve thirty. I was just
embarrassed and trying to make myself sound cool. Okay, So uh,
I had my curfew. Maron had to be at school.

I had drank too many Bartles and James Lightweight. It
was like three percent alcohol, maybe two point five, and
I had too many. I probably had like half of one,
let's be realistic. And I hadn't eaten. Okay. So he's
like driving and he's like, I'm so mad at you.
Where are we We're like way up in the hills
(26:26):
and it was like right there, but he's driving, and
I'm like, oh my god, I'm getting carsick. I'm drunk,
and long story short. As we get down to the
bottom of the hill, I go, I don't feel so good,
and I promptly puke everywhere. Bartles and James strawberry cream
(26:47):
for days, all over Moron's brand new BMW that he
had just gotten. I puke everywhere, And I mean it's
the type where you're just like, I don't feel good.
I don't feel good, and it's like no time to
even like roll down the window. You like turn and
you're like thinking of rolling down the window with a

finger and it just like projectile onto the window and
then you turn around horrified and you slap your hand
over your mouth. But it's like oozing out between your
fingers and it's just everywhere. Oh he's such a good friend.
He gets me home, he kept going. He got me home.
I made curfew, by the way, winning. Oh he is
(27:32):
so mortified. I'm in my cute dress. He's in like
his first suit. Nah, he would never wear a suit.
He was dressing something nice though. I know that for
a fact. Puke all over me, puke all over him,
puke all over his new car, all over and I
think he had like a cream leather. Oh my god,
(27:55):
it was light colored. Maybe maybe beige. Yeah, beige isn't pretty.
And I couldn't walk. So he carries me. Oh, such
a gentleman. He carries me, all both of us covered
in puke, carries me, and the security from my parents'
house walks out. And he said he couldn't he was
(28:17):
so embarrassed. He couldn't even speak a word. And security
comes out, My mom comes out. He looks at her,
She looks at him, and she just nods, and he
just nods and he hands me over to my security
guard and the rest is history. Yeah, carried me up.
(28:38):
Here's the worst part. I was so embarrassed. It was
my best friend. The whole world still is. I didn't
call him for two weeks. He said he got home
and his parents he didn't even sell me out. His
parents were like, what happened. He's like, someone was in
my car. I don't know, like threw up every where.
(29:00):
They had to have a detailed I know he's from
a very nice family, Like you didn't even take it
somewhere they had someone come and detail it. He's like,
that smell I don't think ever came out. Okay, fine,
maybe I did have a couple of shrimps from the
seafood tower because whatever he said, the smell never came out.
But two weeks we still talk about it. He's like,
I can't believe you just ghosted me, Like you ruined
(29:24):
my car, like mortified me. Like I was so embarrassed
in front of your mom, and like I had to
do the like hand off, like hand it me over
like a like a bag of potatoes. I was like,
oh my gosh. And then I just didn't calm for
(29:44):
two weeks. I was like, I'm so I can't deal
with confrontation. I was so embarrassed. It was easier just
to not contact him. Anyway. We got past it. I
got ground a big TV start, going to an Academy
Awards party, well Pseudo one, and I got grounded. Yeah,

eleven thirty curfew and I got grounded except for work
in school. Yeah. I was grounded for like a month.
Not okay, So, been to the Emmys, Golden Globes, MTB
(30:31):
Movie Awards, what else, American Music Awards, what else was there?
There was two BILLI billboard. Yeah, that was a biggie.
MTV was a little daunting. I remember that you sat
in like theater seats, so it wasn't like you got schmooze.
(30:51):
And afterwards it was cool. I mean the globes was
cool just because everyone like, yeah, even if I couldn't
like legally drink and wasn't drinking, everyone else like if
they could drink, we're just like freer and happier, and
(31:12):
like we would see each other backstage we're presenting, and
it just wasn't I got nervous.

At awards shows just because I get terrified, Like if
I had to present, that was always really scary for me.
I would get super nervous.

So and I was always on edge, like just feeling like,
who's looking at me? Am I doing the right thing?
Do I look okay? Do people like me? I don't
like me? Like and Golden Globes was just like everyone
was in a good, free mood, like they just felt relaxed,
all the actors, so that was always a good time.
I did have a nip slip situation at the what
(31:54):
was I presenting at it? It was either the Billboard Music
Awards or the American Music Awards. So it was during
the phase where I had platinum hair and I had
like the corkscrew curls, very like Drew Berry Moore, thin eyebrows,
big dark lips, and this was one I got styled for.

And I had this like light blue, kind of shimmery
see through almost like a suit. So it was like
a blouse of sorts, a top one button or two buttons,
and then the rest was kind of open, so I
still had my belly showing and then like pants. And

at the time it was like I was all about
like tight dresses and everything, so I was trying to
try something new and a stylus had been like, oh,
this will look great. So I was styled for this
glam for this, and I guess we didn't take into

was dating Patrick muldoon at the time, who was had
we done a TV movie together, but he went with
me was my dates. I was super excited about that,
and I remember doing the press and like as soon
as the flashes went off, I could hear everybody like
chit chattering, and of course I'm like, oh, what what
(33:26):
are they looking at? So not my good side? Oh god,
turn to the right side, my left side, my quote
unquote right side, my good side. But it's my left side. No, no,
it's my right side. Turn to the left anyway, I digress.
I could hear like all because it's a sea like
and it was the red carpet for it, and I
(33:48):
was a presenter, so it was a big deal. And
I just remember like this, I'm looking up flashes everywhere.
I couldn't even see the sea of paparazzi and like
levels of them, and I could just hear people be like,
oh my god. And my publicist like swooped in and
(34:08):
was like whispered, like, wait, we have to like she
took me off, and U yeah, you could either see
through my top or at a nip slip. We can
google it pretty sure. I thought it was like, I
don't think I wore a bra and there it was
back before like you put on like the nip cover ups.
(34:29):
So I think you could just literally see it. Oh,
I know what it was. So I think I had
just gotten my boob job a little bit before that.
So they were very like perkying out there and hard
and didn't fall, and I the top was cut open
in a way that if I turned you could just
(34:50):
see all through like the entire side of the boom.
It was like side boom. That's what it was. And
my publicist was very like wanted to get me seeing
a different light and not just like you know, teen
platinum and I played the Virgin on TV, even though
I wore belly shirts for days, which is weird. But yeah,
(35:12):
it's all coming back to me now, I'll coming back
to me. No, say, yeah, that's what it was. So
the photos that are online probably she had me adjust
or something, but they were getting some angles because you
know paparazzi, they were at all different angles and they're
trying to get the shot they want that shot that's
(35:34):
not the good shot, and any any kind of wind
or anything, nothing was coming right up. So it just
you could see. It's maybe the ones that are online
now they didn't go out. The other ones I maybe
she killed them. You could see from certain angles through
that shirt you could see the entire boot. She had
(35:56):
to readjust me, literally, she readjusted me. We stopped the
press line, I went backstage, and then uh, I was
good to go with some like scotch tape bundle bundled
up under there or something maybe another button. Oh you
know what it was, Uh, the award show. Someone backstage
(36:18):
they did a quick fix, like in wardrobe. They came
out and sewed it up a little bit longer, and
then I presented and moved on. Yeah, that was a
wardrobe malfunction that day. So that's my first awards party
and it was it didn't have a happy ending for moron. Uh.
(36:45):
It was sadly not my last interaction with Bartles and James.
And then I told you my most infamous wardrobe malfunction
on the red carpet. This is why I love doing
this podcast for you guys, because as I start to
talk about one thing, I remember things that I'm like,
oh my god, and then this happened. So I'm glad
