NHL Unscripted is a production of the NHL and iHeart Podcasts.
Unscripted Episode fourteen Coming at You has always a collaboration
of the NHL and iHeart podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Let Me tell you something. My guy, Jason M. Murris
is fire up today.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
And maybe feeling a little saucy. We'll get into that
in just a second. Betrayed deadline winners and losers as
we move forward, this wild storm at Mitch Martyr, what
happened with Ramson and Dallas Rod, Brenda Moor's dropping bombs,
All of that is coming up, plus Aaron Ecklad's suspension
now that can impact things and Sharky getting taken out.
That's right, Jason Murris is a former Shark and talk
to us about this mascot situation and will still file

(00:47):
in sixty as we alrip Gene Hackman, but let's kick
things off. I was just in Scottsdale. I said, gonna
go see my buddy j D. But unfortunately were not there.
By the way, fifty two degrees the first day, the
next day, rain in the desert. I'm there for spring training.
I'm expecting seventy and sunny. Thankfully, things turn around a
little bit, but you were already much more desirable place
than I, which is something to say.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I was enjoying Cubs camp.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Our guy Ian Happ, guest of Unscripted, I got to
check out the A's the Oils, but your gulf right now.
Alex Kulagowski, speaking of all unscripted, how is it going?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
How much money have you guys won so far?

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Well before we get into abandoned Dunes. The week we've had,
which has been just spectacular, I want to just talk
a little bit more about the fact that you said
you were in the same city as me. Yeah, and
you gave me the most courtesy text. He landed probably
two days earlier, texted me at six pm to say, Hey,

(01:39):
by the way, you want to go to dinner, I'm
going to dinner at six twenty five.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Hey, just feel free.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
We're going to Oshan forty four, the most the most
uninvitation invitation I've ever heard of my life.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
And I just went.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
I said, Hey, I said, I don't think I can
make it. Say oh, okay, yeah, but then maybe i'll
see it next year. So it's like we've we've done
thirteen episodes. We've done thirteen episodes, we've seen each other
twice in a year and a half.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
We got half phenomenal chemistry.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, you were thinking maybe we could do breakfast Saturday morning.
I said, no, I'll be a Cubs camp with you.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
I'm the guy.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, And you said, I'm like my man Ian Happ,
I'm a coffee guy. Give me a bean, give me
a roasted bean, just nice pour over coffee. Just like
ever since we did the interview with Ian Hap, I
have maybe one every two days.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
All right, talk to me about the golf. What's going
on here sand dunes?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah, I mean we we I did this last year.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I got invited kind of last minute from a friend
of mine and he said, hey, there's this group we
have that goes like forty guys. They come every year.
It's like a flat fee. You have dinners every night.
It's five days, and you play like a kind of
tournament style game. Every single day. You play a different game,
and you play with your partner that you come with,

(02:50):
and then there's money doled out every night. And last
year I came with a buddy of mine. We did
We did pretty good. We won a couple of days.
And then I came with Alex Golgowski, you just recently retired,
and I reach out to him.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
I'm like, hey, butout it.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I'm like, good retire and gift come on out, let's
go play, you know, four or five days. And he's like,
how'd you get this deal? And I was like I
just kind of like weaseled my way into this tournament,
just a great group of guys at a Fresno, California,
and he's like, yeah, I'm coming. So we came out
and we've been electric. We've just Ham and Egg did
just like when we played together, it was just just

(03:26):
Ham and Egg and you know, day one we didn't
do great, but then the last two days we finished
second place both days and you get paid out like
first to third. So yesterday there was like kind of there.
Two days ago, there's some hand clap and guys were
like cheering for us, like oh yeah, the x NHL
guys like yeah, good win, good win, you win a
couple hundred. Yesterday there's maybe one or two guys claping

(03:48):
because we won, and they're like, what the hell's going
on here? Like you guys, first time coming here and
you're just stealing all the cash from everybody that's been
here for like five to ten years, so today was
was good as well. We're probably gonna win some cash
today and we've just been Yeah, it's been It's just
a great it's such It's Disneyland for golf, and it's
the food's fantastic, the service, everything, the courses are great

(04:11):
and we know we've hit great weather.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
So it's been really good.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
All thing can be better is if Michael Rosenbaum shows up.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
By the way, he's our special guest today played Lex
Luthor on Smallville Huge Rangers Fan. How we got solid
twenty five thirty bits coming up.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
With Rosenbomb you got yeah, So the.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Always unpopular Arizona to Ottawa direct flight does not exist.
So Arizona to Jersey from there to Ottawa our nation's
cap and I got to watch the Ottawa Centers and
Detroit Red Wings.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
How was it?

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Well, this will get into our trade winners and losers.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
So Ottawa it's like dude, Lena Silimark looking like Vesna
four forty eight saves. He was unbelievable. And Brady Kuld
chuck every time he's on the ice.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
JD.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
I gotta tell you, man, maybe just living in America.
It feels like no player benefited more from Four Nations
than Brady Kuchuck. But now he's becoming like a household
name and the Four Nations three goals.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
He fights, He's tough. I'm watching him out there.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
He scored the overtime winner against the Ranger, scored two
goals in that game, sat down on their anti patrolla
every time he's on the ice.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
He's so exciting to watch. And the Red Wings conversely,
in a game.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
That I wouldn't say it was a must win, but
as Shane nough Hey said to me, it's like it's
an urgent win, like you need this one. I'm like, yeah,
five game winless streak and they lose that game, now
six straight for Todd McCleland.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
They outplayed them, They deserve to win it. Ottawa wins.
So two thoughts.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
One, how great would it be a Brady could Chuck
and the Senators or in the playoffs, could be Brady
versus Matthew. If you look at the Panthers and Sins
and what's going on with the Red Wings, the iSER
plan falling apart, nothing at the deadline, the team's in
free fall.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Well, let's start with the positive first before we get
to the wiser plan. Yeah, Ottawa Senators. I mean it's
a tail of two tapes. Like you look at the
Ottawa Centers, they didn't like what they had, even though
they were kind of playing some good hockey, even though
they had some injuries and things like that, Josh Norah,
Shane Pinto. When they were healthy, this team was good. No,

(05:52):
they decided to go out of the deadline. They go
get Dylan Cousins, who's been incredible since he's been there.
Another Buffalo Sabers player that gets traded and turns into
an elite hockey player. So that's more of what the
hell's wrong with the Buffalo Sabers as a franchise. Now
you look at Oudawhile, you look at Brady Kuchuk, this
guy starting from four nations. Even before that, you see

(06:14):
the need and the want for him to be in
the playoffs. He watches his brother, he follows him. He's
such a big fan of his. You see him supporting
him during their Cup run last year. When Matthew Kachuck's injured,
he's helping him out of bed. He is just like
the prototypical hockey guys. Guy wants to all he wants
to do is win. That's it. I got to interview

(06:35):
him on Amazon Coast to Coast and I kind of
was like, is this kid, Like I'm like, is he
for real or is he like a little bit like
is he just doing everything for the cameras And he
was so nervous to do like a small interview with
us for ten minutes, and I was like, Oh, this
guy just loves to be around the game, and like
he doesn't want to do the media stuff.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
He's doing it because.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
He's he has to, but like he really just wants
to play hockey and be an elite hockey player, and
he wants to compete with his brother. And it is
just so fun to watch him, you know, all the
all the shit that's going on through Four Nations, the
injury stuff, him going to Odawa. The fan base is
kind of like hit or miss, and he's just kind

(07:15):
of willing this team in the playoffs and he needs
to be in the playoffs. Like him in the playoffs
will be unbelievable. I don't know how many games he's
gonna last because I feel like if you watch the
Four Nations, like he gets so excited and he'll probably
have ten hits a game.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
He's just so good at at.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
But think of that spectacle Jenny kud Chuck versus Kachuk.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
It'd be unbelieving, incredible. But it's it's it's what I'm
interested to see.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
If I and I guarantee you, if they were playing
in a playoff round against each other and they wouldn't
into the corner, it would be high stakes. There'd be
no brothers, would be no love, no nothing. Yeah, but
this Ottawa team, like you look at this team, this franchise.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Almark is a great pickup. He's healthy now.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
They you know, Josh Norris has been good for them
this season, really good. He's has some injury issues. They go,
you know what we need to upgrade. We go get
Dylan Cousins. And it's just been the spark that they
needed him.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
They has been great.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Coming out of the break and great coming out of
the trade deadline versus the Detroit Red Wings, which is
it's not the Steve Eiserman plane, it's a Steve Wiserman plan.
It's why what is he doing? We're starting to see
a little bit. Listen, he's a legend. He is one
of the best players in NHL history, such a great player,
great leader, but we'll.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Look at.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
That doesn't translate sometimes into GMing and we look at
Julian Breeseball, who's just incredible and what he does year
in and year out, and we all thought that it
was Steve Eiserman and now we're seeing that, oh, maybe
it was Julian breezes want Steve Eisman. Actually it's kind
of a little bit lost out there because what's he
doing at the deadline? This team lotted. This team needed

(08:47):
a lot more than doing nothing and standing pat They
needed a couple of pieces added defensively, in net, goaltending wise,
they needed something. You know, I don't love what they
bring it. They brought it. No, they brought him Rask,
they brought him Razak and listen, times can be good,
but that's not the goal you go out and get

(09:08):
at the deadline, that's not It was probably Correl Viamlca
they should have pushed for. But Vimalca gets signed by Utah.
But it's just they didn't do enough. You didn't fill
any of the holes you needed. You kind of put
a little bit of tape, you put a little bit
of flex seal in the goaltending position, and that just
doesn't do enough. So I just I'm a little shocked

(09:28):
by Detroit and this team is showing exactly the fruits
of what Steve Eiserman did by doing nothing.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
The six straight losses.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah, it's certainly disappointed right now. I'm frustrating. Again.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
We don't need to break down the specific winners and
losers from the trade Deadlin which is a week. But
the Panthers get marsh and Seth Jones v tic Mancheck
Dallas gets ranted in Colorado, Brock Nelson, Charlie Coyle, Toronto
gets Scott Lotton, Brandon Carlon has mentioned Ottawa gets Cousins
and your boy Fabian Zeterlin from the Shout Goalscore games Exactly,
he's out there. He's playing on the second live when

(09:59):
I was watching that game of Monday.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
So in cool star. But it makes you think.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
About it, as you said, the whole concept of GMing.
You know, there's certain guys that can do it right,
certain guys do it well. Everyone is rightfully praising Jim
Nail for the fact he was able to acquire obviously
the huge talent rans and gets some agree one hundred
million dollars deal. But in terms of what Breeze Boughs said,
you know, trying and failing will yield less regret than
failing to try. Right, I don'ther have a lineup full
of good players that a bank of a ton of

(10:24):
draft picks as well. I know you criticize Detroit, but
can't you criticize Utah as well? They're in the mix
for a playoff spot right now. Calgary is one of
the worst offenses in hockey. Thanks to Wolf who's a
Caleder candidate.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
They're in the mix.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Vancouver has been a huge disappointment that saying those Blues
are still in the plaoff mix and they've got a
favorable schedule down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
I know that you're burying Detroit and I give you that.

Speaker 4 (10:43):
What about Utah?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
They didn't do anything either.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Can you say one more time that quote, just for
every shot in the back about failing and yield, say
one more time.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Trying and failing will yield less regret than failing to try.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
God, that's a good quote. And I gotta tell you
what Confucius say me like Julian Breese bough and you see,
and I had a little bit you know, the NHL
Network asked me to kind of do a post about
the trade deadline, and I said, there's levels to jamming,
and it's never been more apparent than this season. The
just the difference in skill and no in fearlessness of

(11:19):
some of these gms in the NHL, because again, you
you're only doing this for a certain amount of time.
There's a finite amount of time you can be a GM.
Why would you go into it casually, cautiously, not making
not taking any big swings and just playing pretend. Because
here's the thing. When you accrue draft picks. Again, draft
picks are great, you have a lot of draft picks,

(11:40):
fantastic stuff. What happens when you draft a player you
have minimum unless it's the top three generational impactful player,
you're waiting three years, two to three years for this
to bear fruit. Now you keep doing that year over year.
I mean it just you're pushing your pushing the line.
You keep you keep delaying your team obviously number one
being a contender and number two even being able to

(12:03):
fight for a player position. So you look at Utah,
you know, and I have my bones to pick with
Bill Armstrong with the way my career and stuff like that.
But that's neither here nor there. The thing with Bill
Armstrong is, yeah, he's done great work there. He's done
great work. He's made them a competitive team. Now you
have to take a swing at this deadline. There's no
spot that's opened more than the first the first wild

(12:25):
card in the West. He has to take a swing.
You have all this draft capital, you have all this
cap space. Take a swing. Because here's the thing. I've
been sitting with Alex Koldgowski. We're sitting and we're chatting,
we're having a good time talking about the league, and
he said something great to me. He was like, listen,
he's like the teams that didn't take a swing this playoffs. Sorry,
not this playoffs, this trade deadline. The CAP's going to

(12:47):
keep going up over the next three years. You've lost
your chance now because the big boys are now getting
another they're getting more cap space, they're getting more room
to bring in more players, and they have a competitive team.
So the teams that have these competitive teams, they're more
attractive in free agency. So now these free agents that
are coming off the books and they're they're looking where
to go, They're gonna go to a competitive team and

(13:08):
try to win, and these teams that aren't taking any
swings that have Oh yeah, we have twenty six million
in cap space. Great, you didn't do anything at the deadline.
You're not showing anybody around the league that you actually
have an earnest earn it sorry a willingness to make
the playoffs and win the Cup. So for me, I
just get a little annoyed because you look at the
Utah Hockey Club, specifically Clayton Keller's grinded so hard the

(13:32):
past five years. He gets better and better, he works,
Nick Schmaltz, Barret Hayton. They need help and they're not
getting any help. Nobody's getting brought in. They're just saying, oh,
we got all these draft picks, gonna be great. What
happens when you go with this next draft? You gotta
wait another three four years. Dylan Gunther and Logan Cooley,
they hit it out of the park with those two.
Those guys are studs. They're coming up. They have a

(13:52):
great decoor, they have great goaltending. You just got to
reward guys, and you got to take a swing because
at the end of the day, you're not gonna be
a GM forever. So why wouldn't you go out swinging?
And that's why I love what Julian Breeze Boss said
about failure. Just if you're gonna fail, just fail swinging
for the fences.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I want to hear about how Bill Armstrong did you dirty?
Bu'll do that another time. That'll be NHL uncensored rather
than unscripted. But let's talk about rant.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
It's all love.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Let's talk that, by the way, tal clip that.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Let's talk about Ranson specifically, so he signs the eight year,
ninety six million dollar extension after a poorly turning down
one hundred million dollars in the Hurricanes. On an appearance
Monday on ninety nine point nine, the fan of rally
Hurricanes coach Rod Brindemore in a recent poll by the
Way ranked top three as far as the coach the
players most would like to play for. Paul Maurice was
number one for the record, John Cooper was second.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Anyways, Brindemoor was asked for.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Ranson, now Coop Coop was first.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Cooper is firstarts right, Moa was second. Probs. Anyways, Rod
said about Ranson.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
There's not been one guy that has left here really
unlikeing here now was stepping me going.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
He did not like it.

Speaker 6 (14:54):
He when he showed up, he said, there's four teams
I'll go play for.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
You're not one of them.

Speaker 6 (14:58):
So there's twenty eight other teams he wasn't going to
and when we The better question is should we have known.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
That before we sign them? Attempted to sign them.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I appreciate that you let us know that. We probably
should have known that before we made the deal. Tuesday,
Ranston's agent Andy Scott went on the fan Hockey Show
on Sports Today called briandanmore quote, completely misinformed.

Speaker 7 (15:18):
We've We've got a ton of respect for Branda moore
are both as a player and a coach, but in
this situation, he's completely misinformed.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
What's happening here?

Speaker 3 (15:27):
The whole thing with Ranton in all season long, it's
been so deluded, it's been so weird, the way he
left Colorado, all the issues with Tulsky and Carolina. I
think Tulsky made the biggest mistake out of anybody through
this whole, this whole debacle of a season for Miko Rannon,
and not only Miko Rannon, but the Carolina Hurricanes. I

(15:47):
think they do well in the playoffs. I don't think
they have a chance of winning with what they've done.
Uh for them to make a trade without you heard
Marty Nachs come out and say, I don't know why
they would trade for somebody that they don't aren't a
hundred percent she is going to sign. So I think,
you know, the whole issue with Carolina is just taking
a like that, there's taking a swing and then there's

(16:08):
just being absolutely foolish, and this was just foolish. I
just don't think they needed to make that trade. Marty
Natius is still a great player. They could have found
somebody else in trade, or they could have signed somebody.
I just don't know what's going on, and I think
Rod Brandenburg got frustrated with the whole situation and maybe
just spoke out of turn. But again, this we don't

(16:30):
there's so many unknowns with Miko Ranton and his agent
and this whole season surrounding him, Like, I don't know
what's true with this. I just know that it's been
a mess. And now he's in Dallas and Jim Neill
reaps the benefits and Jim Neil, who's another fantastic GM
and I talk about levels I didn't even mention Billy Zito,
but Jim nil is just so fantastic as a GM

(16:50):
and he just finds the right angles. And Logan Stankbin
is a great player. But Miko Rantonon on that team
is exactly what they need and he's just such an
high impact player. And it's just the difference between gms,
Like I think Telsky just got a little bit ahead
of his skis and Jim Nill just took advantage, and

(17:12):
I just it's weird though. It's just such a weird season.
And Rod Brendanmar, I think, is just so frustrated with
the situation in the past two years, the guys they've
missed out on the guys they've let go. It's just frustrating.
There's guys I know in Carolina that just kind of
it's been tough for them, like they've I got a
few texts of just guys being like, I don't know
what we're doing. And nothing against those guys and nothing

(17:35):
against the GM. You're they're trying to do stuff. But
that's frustrating for a team when you think you have
a team that can win the Cup and then you
lose such a big player like that, and the return
is good, but it's not great. It's not like, Okay,
we're knocking the side of the park. It's like, oh, okay, yeah,
we got a good player, and we've got a couple
of good players, but like, yeah, we're worse offt than
we were before the trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Yeah, the Hurricanes definitely one of the losers of the
trade deadline. However, the whole rant and drama, it's even
crazier because it extends to Leaf's nation. The Hurricanes asked,
but Mitch Marner has explored potential rams and trade. The
Leafs poorly ass Martyr, but waving his full not trade
clause expected leaves. Fans and media have not gone nuts. Marner,
by the way, is a UFA this summer. Do you
think Mitch Martin's gonna come back to the Maple Leafs.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
I wouldn't if I was him.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
I'm just telling you right now, Mitch Marner, if you
hear this, I'd be running for the hills, because not
only has the not only has the fan base abused.
You been very tough on him, been very tough on
him come playoff time, and it's not it's not been
his fault and I've been hard on him just as
much and said, hey, he's one of the guys that
haven't picked it up in the playoffs, but he has

(18:40):
carried this team for the most part this season. He
has been one of one of the if not the
best player. The fact that and listen, Brad Tree Living,
I tweeted the other night, in a haze of rage,
said I don't think Mitch Barter's resigning. I think Brad
Tree Living. I think the gmming has been very bad
in the NHL. People, I say, people thought you called
out Tree, Well, people thought I said Brad Tree Living

(19:03):
was a bad GM. I think he's done some great
moves and Kyle Duba's kind of hurt this team. But
I think that move specifically. Listen, I asked a couple
guys straight up. I said, okay, I said, if you're
gonna trade Miko Ranton in for Mitch Martin, would you
make that trade? I wouldn't make that trade. Why wouldn't
I make that trade? Because Number one, I think Mitch

(19:23):
Marner impacts the game a little bit more than Miko
Ranton on the defensive side of the puck. Mico Ranton
is very good offensively, he's big body, he's a great winger.
Mitch Marner plays all he plays five on five, he
plays penalty kill, and he plays power play, and he's
impactful in all three zones. You cannot give a player
like that up. Even though he's not the biggest, strongest guy,

(19:47):
he is a great hockey player. And the fact that
they entertained Miko Randon for Mitch Marner, whether it was
straight up or for some picks, I think is not
a good move by Brad Tree living in this in
the Toronto Maypleas organization. Yeah, it's fine to kick the
tires and see what Ranton will yield, But why would
you go to Mitch Martin and ask him to what
wave his no move? And that If that's true and

(20:07):
they went to Mitch Martin and said, hey, would you
wave your no move clause, I'd be out of there
July first. See you later, Mitch Marner. There will be
there will be thirty teams that would sign him and
pay him ten to twelve million dollars a year, and
I think he deserves that, maybe even more than that
with the cap going up. So for me, I'm like,
Mitch Marner, see you later, pack your bags, get out

(20:29):
of there, go enjoy yourself somewhere else, because you've been
stepped on way too much in this organization and you
don't deserve it. Unfortunate like maybe a little bit, but
right now it's gone too far. I think for him
as a player this season he's having they should be
re signing him and paying him what he wants, especially
with the cap going up. They're not see you later,
and they're asking him to waive his no move clause

(20:50):
by get in the car, turn it on, shut up
and draft.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah, he has yet to elevate company.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
He had to elevate, shut up and draft.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
I know you love Rihanna, but Tron's thinking like this thing.
He's yet to elevate come playoff time. But he's in
everything other than that about the other guys. If it's
to LBA come playoff time, So there's other blame.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
It's a team effort.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
One more thought before we get to our guy. Rosenbaum
is the biggest winner of the day. Carolina is Jack Rosslovic.
Ranson gave me a limited edition Rolex watch he need
to have imported from Finland in exchange. Rossovic switch numbers
from ninety six to ninety eight, so Ranson could keep
the number he had one throw a his an HL career.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
But now Ranson's in Dallas, Rossvin can switch back ninety
six and he gets to keep the watch. Jason Lewis,
do you have a story about players giving a rolex
or something like that to wear their favorite jersey number.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
I mean I just switched numbers, like like at Clydesdale
in my career, I went from sixty to five.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Nobody even paid me. I just switched.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
But I that's just even more murky for the Rant
and stuff. Why are you paying people to change numbers
if you're like kind of leaving and you're telling Rod
Brenda Moore that you don't want to stay there, and
like that's where it's just like the whole thing's murky.
Like I just don't get it. I want to sit
down with Migo Rant and have a couple of beers
and ask him, Hey, yeah, the swow me hoova, hoova?

(22:07):
What the hell is going on right now? Give me
the low down? But I don't have his number.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
Well, at the very least, Jacket's a nice little role
ex so that's good news for good for him. We're
gonna talk more about the Florida Panthers in a little bit.
I want to get your take on marsh Angle and
there Steph Jones, and of course this news involving Aaron Eckblab,
how that will impact them moving forward. Plus we still
to talk about Gene Hackman and when mascots attack or
get attacked as what happened to Sharpy. We'll get into
that a little bit later, but first, Michael Rosenbaum, who

(22:34):
is a terrific actor, a huge Rangers fan, is a
very popular podcast. He's got stories but actors and JK.
Simmons and athletes and all the rest of it. He's excellent.
He's coming up right after this. You're an NHL in
scripted Our next guest to celebrate, actor, musician, and podcaster

(22:59):
who's on screen credits include Smallville, Bringing down the House,
Sorority Boys, Pool Hall, Junkies, and all kinds of animated work.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
If you've seen him in one thing, you've seen him
in lots of things. Ladies and Gentlemen, Ranger super Fin
Michael Rosenbaum.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
That's me. I'm trying to get the lighting right, but
I can't quite figure it out. Thanks for the Jason
for the.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
You know about that.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
You see you see what I have right here?

Speaker 4 (23:21):
You undergand what do you got there? Is that Hann Rahan.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
It's from slapshotw you have to swear on your.

Speaker 7 (23:29):
It's I didn't ask him for this, he said to Michael,
Suzanne sucks pussy, the iconic line.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Your wife's the dyke.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
I know, I know she loves me and I loves me.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Well, hey, let's start. Let's start on that note. We're
going hockey. Start with the Rangers. What do you got
here with this wild season so far? Give me your
hot takes.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
I was, I was.

Speaker 7 (23:59):
Really worried, like everyone was who lived in New York,
and I thought I couldn't believe that. They just kept
losing and you're like, oh, they're gonna turn it around
and losing and losing and now you know what they needed.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
They needed a rempy. They needed because with them, they're
they're winning percentages.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Crazy little jam.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
He just adds, it feels like the other players, am
I wrong here?

Speaker 7 (24:28):
The other players, the opposing team, they seem kind of
timid around him.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
They want to get rid of the puck, They want
to get out of there. They don't want to be
around him.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Well, yeah, well, it's like, you know, when you have
those guys, it's just known that the especially Rempy can play.
He's improved too. He can play, he can make passes
and stuff. So but guys are just more scared to
kind of, you know, f around and find out, so
they kind of And it also I feel like he
gets the Rangers fans, those corporate Rangers fans up on
their feet and screaming for a little blood.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
Yeah, you know, it's just they needed something. And I
think that and JT.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
Miller were like those having the Grid, having the tough
guy and having J T. Miller come back and already
like you know, score machine.

Speaker 5 (25:14):
Just he's like a leader.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
I feel like he's the captain you know already. So,
I mean, they're close to a playoff spot. I feel
like a couple teams above them are starting to lose
their you know, sizzle. So I'm hoping, I'm really hoping.
I'm watching them against the Caps. This will be a
real test to play against, you see, what to see
how they stand with these guys.

Speaker 5 (25:33):
But I think if they get in their dangers.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Don't you know one hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
And I love that You're multitasking your foot, you're futzing
with the lighting. You're watching a Rangers game and doing
this podcast.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
Yeah, I feel.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
Well, the Rangers are not it's just pre game.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, the game starts. You probably no, I don't care.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
I don't care. Look, I love hockey. I just got
to play in a charity game.

Speaker 7 (25:56):
For a.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
LAFT charity hockey event Crypto dot com. How incredible was that, Mike?

Speaker 5 (26:02):
That was I mean, do it for a good cause.
Was just incredible.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
But then you know, my line is a messy is
centering us, THEO Flurry is on my left wing, and
it was just and it was packed and I felt
when I went out there, I just said, don't fall down, man,
don't fall down and looks like an asshole in front
of all your friends, all these people who go, oh yeah,
you said you played hockey and the first shift man

(26:31):
THEO the mess to me one.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Time we're in and I was like, that's it, I
can go home now. I just it was it was awesome.
It was awesome.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
How great?

Speaker 3 (26:41):
How like you know you play with those guys and
I always I always try to tell people like, you know,
Messy and Flurry and you think like oh, yeah, they
might take it easy, and you just see them. The
compete level and the level of edge that these guys have.
It's just so incredible to see live in person they
and even play with them.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Yeah, it was. It was unbelievable. You know.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
It's funny because you know, mess was like, oh, I
haven't played forever, and he gets on there just like, hey,
make sure you're in the slot, make you know, and
he's like he's he's having fun. But at the same time,
he's like, you know, I don't I don't want to
come out here and look like idiots. Let's let's go
out there and score some goals. And it was a blast.
It was, I mean, you know, to be on airing
on TV and scoring a goal as an actor, you know,

(27:23):
like guy who always wanted to play hockey and mvs
guys like you.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
It was. It was just my moment to like just
be like all right, hey.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
You know I got I got a little game, I
got a little No.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I did a little more to get in the game
like this. You gotta have more than just a little
bit of game.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Who was your favorite person to me at the event day,
DeVito Vince Vaughn.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
You know, I was more star struck by Al Michaels.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Yes, do you believe in miracles?

Speaker 7 (27:48):
Al Michaels was our coach and he got in the
in that room.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
It was just like he was.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
He was like Herb Brooks.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
He was given, he was, he was channeling Herb Brooks
and he was like, get the fuck out there, and
you know, just a mean.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
He was throwing f bombs and no he was, Yeah,
he was.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
I got it on video.

Speaker 5 (28:14):
I have it.

Speaker 7 (28:14):
I'll have to look, but I have him saying that,
like I was. I was surprised the cameras are on him.
I'm like, well, they're not going to air this, but
this is. And Danny DeVito and Al Michaels sat right
in front of my uh where I was sitting in
the locker room, and I just shot the ship with
them for like forty five minutes.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
They were just awesome.

Speaker 7 (28:34):
Me and Danny DeVito were stretching. He showed me the
right way to stretch. I'm like, come on, you stretch.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
All those Jersey commercials.

Speaker 7 (28:43):
But everybody was cool. I mean, Will Ferrell's hilarious. Vince
Vaughn was as nice as can be. He's always I
met him twenty years ago and he comes up to
me like he's like, dude, you how you been? Man?

Speaker 5 (28:53):
What's going on?

Speaker 7 (28:53):
I remember just like it seems like the bigger the celebrity,
the nicer they are, you know a lot.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
I wouldn't say everybody, Adrian, you know.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Hey, hey, listen he Timothy Shalloman got robbed anyway.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
On a different note.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
On that, but you you also played in those You
played in those Jerry Bruckheimer tournaments years back, and that's
that was a different vibe than that. Obviously that for
the fires in LA that was just such an amazing cause.
But talk a little bit about those, because I got
invited like three times, and I heard it was like
the most fun tournament in Vegas in the summer. But

(29:33):
talk about those Jerry Bruckheimer Hockey tournaments now.

Speaker 7 (29:36):
Without getting myself or anybody else in trouble. It was
just an escape. It was like everybody got there and
it wasn't about who you were or what you do.
It was about enjoying each other and having the best
weekend ever. And when I say that, we had some

(29:56):
of the most extraordinary dinners. They'd have a barbecue just
for all the guys and you know, the bus takes
you to the rink, and they had guys or trained
the official trainers from each like different teams.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
This guy Ray from the Blues, and there was I mean,
I wish I could say some of the things I
saw and did, but it was it was just an
unbelievable time.

Speaker 7 (30:20):
We did it for twenty years and sometimes Jerry would go, Hey,
you want to MC the Saturday night dinner.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
I go, can I fly in your jet with you
to Vegas? He's like, yeah, yeah, sure, So.

Speaker 7 (30:32):
Flying with Jerry to Vegas and it was it was
just like what am I doing here?

Speaker 5 (30:37):
It was a little you know, I wasn't supposed to
mount to shit. Man.

Speaker 7 (30:41):
I grew up in southern Indiana. If you said Michael Rosenbaum,
besides Jue, I don't know if they would wreck if
they would remember me, other than obviously some of the
work that I've done. But you know, I didn't think
I was going to mount to much either, and something

(31:01):
happened along the way.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
But it's it's pretty You got to pitch yourself. I
try to do that a lot now.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
I don't think you know, Jason, probably when you were
in the NHL, you're probably, you know, in the beginning,
you're all exciting everything, but then you kind of forget. Now,
I'm there for business. I'm there to play, there to
hit them, there to score on on my team. But
it's hard to step back, take a step out, you know,
outside of everything, and go, look, a you've accomplished man,

(31:28):
Look what you actually did. Look at the chances of
it actually happening.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
And so I try to do that.

Speaker 7 (31:34):
I try to be in the moment more and appreciate
those things like the you know, skating with Messia and
doing these fun things. I try to just I think
that's always been my mo o is making everybody laugh,
trying to have a good time, let's not take ourselves
too seriously. And so but I think it's important. And

(31:56):
I didn't do that for a long time. I thought
I got to prove myself. I got to prove myself.
And then there comes a point where you're like, you don't.
You don't want to have to do this for us
of your life. You just prove it to yourself and
then that's enough. So not to get philosophical.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
On you boys, No, you even more than proving it
in the game.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
And I think, what's impressive, Mike is your versatility and
great John voicing so many things for DC animated projects.
You know, when I was a broadcaster, I feared as
a sidehuse. I tried to do some voice work, and
it is incredibly difficult because you just think, oh, if
having got a deep voice or some baritone, it's all good,
like no, no, the key and you can can speak
to this with voice work is the variety of what
you can do. Can you do twelve different accents, twelve

(32:33):
different voices, and once you're doing the accident, can you
find you in a little bit, can you give us
a little bit more of this new once and taking
direction as an actor would It's one of those jobs
that to me sounds awesome, and I'm sure it is,
but it's a lot harder the people realize it's.

Speaker 7 (32:46):
It's harder, I think, to get a gig, a good
voiceover gig, than it.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
Is an acting job.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (32:53):
Wow, it's so small industry because they're given like most
of its big celebrities, big names that already have billions
of dollars, which I don't understand.

Speaker 5 (33:01):
When there's guys that don't have a lot of money.
That could probably kill it. But you know, I must,
like it was two years. The last two years, I
was like.

Speaker 7 (33:10):
God, I haven't booked a freaking voiceover kick, And then I.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
Booked this big.

Speaker 7 (33:17):
Audio series ten episodes, and I booked this video game
that I can't really talk about, but like this awesome
video and it just hit and it's once you get it,
then you can go have fun. But it's like, you know,
it's it's tough, it's competitive, but.

Speaker 5 (33:32):
Boys, it fun.

Speaker 7 (33:33):
It's better than putting on makeup at five thirty am
and waiting around for fourteen f an hours for them
to you know, do you know eight hours on one scene.
And it's not that I don't love acting, but you
know it's not as glamorous as everybody thinks.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
It's not at your point.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
The voice acting, I think I think I went one
for one hundred on audition.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
So one I got was quiz Nos.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
I finally got a voice commercial that was crazy right,
So I'll tell you how I kept reading it like this,
quiz Nos a cut above, great taste at low price, and.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
They go a little less.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Okay, quiz Nose, I'll cut of less quick, put your
hands in your pockets, like very casual like your high
school slack, right okay? And I betu you sound like
this quiz Nos a cut above, great taste at low prices.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
They go, that's what we're looking for. That's it. That's
gonna run for six months.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
I don't think you knew how to do a little
less that even possible.

Speaker 7 (34:23):
And then they give it to like Christopher Walking instead
of you. There's nose nobody knows like quiz Nos.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
Eat it for a good sale.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
You know it's here, we have the meats.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Give the guy another five million for saying that.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
I mean I every time my wife does it. I
literally hear her in the closet just doing these weird voices.
These kids, Boy, what the hell is going on there?
You gotta book one of these voiceover gigs. They're gold
gold Jerry.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
It's funny because I do a lot of accents and stuff.

Speaker 7 (35:07):
But I did this English accent for this audition like
two weeks ago.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
And I go, I don't know I did the English accent.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
She goes, yeah, I don't, not even a smiley face
after this ship just yeah, don't.

Speaker 5 (35:24):
I guess I was doing it too, Like hey, Mike
and I fuck.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
A little too cocky. For it.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Whatever it was, it was garbage.

Speaker 7 (35:34):
She she She told me of my agent, Pam, she
was like, yeah, just stick to the English American accent.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
I mean, Mike, what's not garbage? Great segue, by the way,
is your podcast inside of you talk a little bit
about that ride you've been on, and like what's one
of your favorite moments and highlights from that show? Because
you do some incredible interviews on there.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Thanks. You know.

Speaker 7 (35:59):
It started out as something where my producer was like,
you want to do a podcast? Now, He's like, you
can make some money to go okay, And then I
realized doing it. I was like, I'm not really making
money and no one's listening. But some way, somehow, I
stuck it out and I found my voice, which means

(36:22):
if you are talking about what you want to talk about,
if you want to talk really, if you're talking about
you know, if you're trying to appease a group of people,
and that never works. It's like writing a script because
you think people are going to like it instead of
you really liking it and being passionate about it. But
I started opening up about my you know, dysfunction as
a child and mental health and just I don't know.

(36:45):
I think there's a way about me I have that
that is just disarming. So I start talking self deprecation
and that, you know, in response, gets people to open up.

Speaker 5 (36:55):
And you know, you talk.

Speaker 7 (36:56):
About I had KENU Reeves on last year, and you
know JK. Simmons and Keith Sutherland and Carrie Anne Moss
and Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Back and all these great people.
But the one that sticks out was this guy Alan
Richson who.

Speaker 5 (37:08):
Was Jack Reacher.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (37:11):
Yeah, And he started talking about bipolar and how you
know he suffered from it. And he then talks about
almost like you know, trying to kill himself, trying to
take his own life.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
And I thought, I was like, wow, this is getting deep.
Holy shit. You know, I was there, but I was
just listening.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
It was just and then he started saying, well I
actually tried, and I go, well, how far did you get?

Speaker 5 (37:40):
He goes, well, I had the rope around my neck
and I let it go.

Speaker 7 (37:46):
But thankfully they say this, and I'm telling you, believe it.

Speaker 5 (37:51):
Your life flashes. Everything in your life.

Speaker 7 (37:54):
Flashes by you at the speed of lif just boom
boom boom every moment. And he goes I was strong
enough and I grabbed the rope and I pulled myself off,
and he obviously he made it. But I remember being
in tears and going, how low do you have to get?
Like what, you're successful, you're this, and that all that

(38:16):
doesn't really mean anything. I mean, people get to you know,
people don't understand that everyone's wired differently and different things
affect them, and so it really put things into perspective like, wow,
this guy is good looking and has money and the career,
and you know he gets this low and what causes that?

(38:37):
But that opened my eyes. That was a good one.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
Bob Odenkirk.

Speaker 7 (38:41):
You know, we talked about Farley because he wrote the
Van down by the River with Farley, and that interview
was great.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
Because everybody was like, hey, that.

Speaker 7 (38:51):
Was a really good interview, wasn't it. Wasn't it really great?
He's like, yeah, but you could tell you were a
fan of his.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Who was it? Yeah? That's fine.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
I mean, no, you're fan of Bob Oden. He was.

Speaker 7 (39:07):
He was awesome, and uh, you know, I get a
little star struck. I get a little you know, like
Kean Reeves was in there, and first thing he says,
he looks at my, uh my Dracula poster signed by
Gary Old.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
He goes, hey, I was in that, and I go, yeah,
you were.

Speaker 7 (39:25):
I swear to god, I didn't realize that it was
going to be right across from you.

Speaker 5 (39:28):
It's always been there.

Speaker 7 (39:29):
And he goes, yeah, I remember bringing Francis Ford Coppola
back of Mushrooms.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
That's a great impression.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
I go, great start. He goes thank you.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Michael, oh with him.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
And when they say he's the nicest guy in.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
The he's the nicest guy in Hollywood.

Speaker 7 (39:47):
I played a transvestite in this movie Sweet November, and
every day I would go I'd be dressed up to
the tea and I'd.

Speaker 5 (39:53):
Be like, hi, Ken too, good morning. I call him
Ken two?

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Hello, how are you today?

Speaker 1 (40:02):
We could do this all night. Michael Roseba, The podcast
is inside of you, dude. This is amazing best of
Lucture Rangers. Can't think enough for the great stories and
uh great impressions as well.

Speaker 5 (40:10):
Appreciate you anytime you want me on let me know.
Now I know Jason's here.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
Come on, tal I've been I've been lining up to
I want to come onto your pod too, and inside
of you I want to give you their your lowest
ratings ever. Come on, Count Reeves, Bob O and Kirk
Jason and mrs Hey.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
I'll get inside of you anytime. Wait, jeez, that's the podcasts.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
Inside of you. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
No, I love, I love the mental health aspect of it.
I mean yeah, anytime you need a hockey guy.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Thanks once again to Michael rosebud j D. Listen, you
hiped him up. He was awesome. That guy's unbelieved. What
great storyteller.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
His counter Reeves impression so good. Beg on, hang on, hang.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
On, good stories from voice acting. Of course he's a
big Rangers fan.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Let's get to more hockey. Big news for the Panthers,
well with the trades in the second. But first off
the news coming down on Monday. Defenseman Aaron k Blatz
has spent in twenty games for violating the terms the
NHL slash NHLP Performance Enhancing Substances Program, and a statement,
k bled said he was shocked by the results of
the failed drug test and made a mistake by taking
something to help you recover from recent injuries without first

(41:22):
checking with proper medical and team personnel.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
The suspension will keep eck Bled out of the first
two games the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Speaking of Florida, they get Brad Marsham for the Boston Bruins,
noted agitator, thirty six years of age. Him and Boston
could not agree to terms on a potential multi year
deal after this year as he's appending UFA. They also
get Seth Jones, who's the guy who's talented, hasn't seemed
to be in a system that has worked for at
least a few seasons, was much malign in Chicago, made
very clear he wanted to get out of there. They
also get VTAK vantage check there, so they bolster their

(41:49):
goaltending as well.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
Florida moves overall. JD.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Do you think that an inkling the ex Blad news
was coming down and thus made the Seth Jones move
or he's not connected.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
I've talked to a few people that said the timing
of the Seth Jones trade coincides with the airnec Blad suspension,
so I don't know if they knew something.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
I think they needed to get a top four defenseman,
and when they found out that Seth Jones was available,
I think they moved mounts to get him. People saying
that Seth Jones is washed or wasn't good are idiots
because he's such a great defenseman. I just think he's
been in a bad system and he was frustrated. He's
with the bat a team that just wasn't competing for
a playoff, and he kind of just let bad habits

(42:35):
crept in. He has been electric factory for this Florida
Panthers team and then it just it's a testament to
Billy Zito. He hears that Brad Marshan is available, he
goes and gets him. And that's also Don Sweeney having
maybe one of the worst years as a GM of
all time with the from the swim and contract to now.

(42:56):
But it's Billy Zito just reaped the rewards of that
and he just made moves and listen, I'll touch quickly
on the air neck blad stuff I take. Make him
at his word. I think he might not have known
he got an injury, and he was probably trying to
speed up the process and took something that wasn't maybe tainted,
or he was just trying to kind of cut some corners. Again,
I don't think it would be anything. Again, hockey's so

(43:19):
hard to performance enhanced because it doesn't matter if you
take something that to help you with healing, it's not
gonna make your game better. You still gotta have good hands,
you gotta be able to it's just too tough. So
it's I take him at his word. I think he
didn't realize it and maybe screwed up. And listen, he's
got to pay the piper. So twenty games plus two,

(43:39):
it's gonna be two games in the playoffs. He's the
punishment fits the crime, and I'm sure he'll come back,
and he seemed like he repented pretty hard, and it
is what it is. But listen, Florida makes moves and
they're completely fine in his absence, and they'll be good
down the stretch and once Kachuck comes back and Ekbyed

(44:00):
comes back. This is a team that's contending for the
Stanley Cup. And this is the reason. This is a
great franchise, great organization that has top the bottom, built
to win, and they just make the right moves at
the right time. And Brad Marshan is a product of
that and he is I mean him, Kit Chuck and
Sam Bennett in the same lineup on the same team,
Judas Priest. That's gonna stink to play against.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
And it's amazing to think about. That's how good that
division is.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
Toronto, Florida and Tampa Bay, and one of those teams
will be out in the first round. I mean, conversely,
I think of the Central Winnipeg and Dallas and Colorado.
One of those three teams will be out in the
first round. I mean, I just cannot wait till go ahead.

Speaker 4 (44:38):
Colorado's playing Dallas in the first round.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
I called it. I think it's gonna be that way,
and that is gonna suck when that happens. Ye, honestly,
it sucks.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Because either of those teams are good.

Speaker 1 (44:47):
Between the Stanley Capitols, we're gonna get deprived of which
is part of what makes the first round so much fun.
Oiler's kings as well. By they could be happening again Nipers, Yeah, exactly,
they've been beaten up. More hockey the second we'll do
a little centiphile in sixty. What an awful ending for
Gene Hackman's life. Ninety four years of age and suddenly
he dies and his wife as well, and the dog,
and like, what the hell just happened. The report that's

(45:09):
come out now is this Gene Hackman was suffering from Alzheimer's.
Apparently the wife died first, and then he didn't know
what was going on and was looking after him.

Speaker 2 (45:18):
He dies.

Speaker 1 (45:19):
I'm not sure how one of his dogs died and
two of the dogs live me. One of the dogs
ate the pills. The wife was taking whatever, but crazy story.
The wife in Nilis Jean dies from Alzheimer's ninety four
years of age. An untimely end, but an actor you
can appreciate.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
Think about this. He doesn't achieve fame until his mid thirties.
At Bonnie and Clyde.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
He wins in a Camy Ward for playing Popeye Doyle
in The French Connection, a great anti hero that billy
freaking film in nineteen seventy one. Goes on to a
successful career and was not jd a conventional leading man.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
I read some of these reviews.

Speaker 1 (45:46):
People are like had to face like a beer mug
like he was probably that great avant garde movies in
the seventies, but he was not exactly. Warren Beatty loved
him and unforgiven playing the sadistic sheriff Bill Daggan. There
was a stretches early nineties Gene happen was in everything.

Speaker 4 (45:59):
He was in the firm.

Speaker 1 (46:01):
He's in No way Out. He's in Crimson Died, I
Love in the Royal ten and bombs. I think it's
history some way from West Ander. City's brilliant in that movie.

Speaker 2 (46:08):
Play with old Rascal.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
But I think you watched Runaway Jury on the plane
him and Dust't hop and old friends, roommates together, and
Bob Bender just wanted to give us a shot out
because people often talk about Pacino and Denero and heat
Well happened to hop and two great actors again old friends,
and they shot the movie.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
He didn't realize then have a scene of them together.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
So they shot the scene in the bathroom, which is
a great scene between the two of them.

Speaker 2 (46:28):
But Gina Hacklin rip.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
That scene in the bathroom, and Dustin Hoffin is just
so good and so powerful when he locks the door,
slams it.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
The way Hackman delivers any I just don't give a shit.

Speaker 3 (46:42):
And he and then as he's leaving he chirps his
suit and then as he's leaving he laughs and goes,
I don't give a shit. Throws I think he throws
the handtow he throws a napkin and the garbage turns
around as he's opening there, he just goes that suit
and I'm just it's so good and you know, like
they probably giggled five times when they did that scene

(47:03):
because he's just shitting on his suit. I mean, that's
such a good movie and just so many twists and turns,
and you know, again, I loved jur number two, and
I like things around the justice system and join the
flaws and the justice system and the way you can
kind of work things around and how these corporations and
companies will take advantage. And he's just the perfect actor

(47:24):
for that role. And it was great and yeah, rap
exactly right happened.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
Definitely a great actors and we can certainly appreciate his
movies as they live on.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
Back to the hockey, we go a couple more for you.

Speaker 1 (47:34):
First off Sunday, not only alex ooveatchin The Great Chase
Career Gold eighty six, but also your boy.

Speaker 2 (47:39):
Brent Burns fortieth birthday. Burns is killing a teammates mark
the occasional by wearing fake beers the rake. I got
to hear your favorite Brent Burns story, Well, we had the.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
One of him getting bit by the cheetah. Yes, But
one of my favorite ones actually at Brent Burns was, well,
there's two of them. Is one he had that I'll
give you a quick one was he always had that backpack,
that army backpack stuff. And he used to have like
toys on the plane, like one of the Hanson brothers
and you're like, what, he's playing some weird Pokemon game.

Speaker 2 (48:10):
Put the foil on.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
Yeah, it was wild.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
But my favorite Brent Burns story is of his dad
and his dad on the father's trip. He comes in
and his dad's just an awesome guy, fantastic human being,
so funny and so quirky like Brent, and you're trying
to wonder, like you're like, you know, does the apple
fall far from the tree?

Speaker 4 (48:30):
My god?

Speaker 3 (48:31):
Is that apple close to the tree? If not part
of it? Because we kind of come in and all
the dads are in the rink and all of a sudden,
where you know, we had practice, we finished practice and
I'm walking in San Jose through the meal room and
the meal room is like right below the gym, and
as I walk through the mirror, I'm here this like
heavy metal music going on, and I'm like what's going

(48:52):
on up there? And I'm like, there's all the dads
are downstairs. So I kind of look upstairs and there's
somebody on the bike. So I walk upstairs and there's
Brent Burns's dad in jeans, no shirt on, with drumsticks,
riding the bike as hard as you can ride the bike,
leaking sweat, and he's going and he's playing the drums. Yeah,
he's playing the air drums, playing the air drums, and

(49:14):
I'm like, and we're all kind of standing there and
I'm looking at the trainer and Mike pretends at the time,
and he's like he's kind of like shrugging his shoulders,
and I'm just like, man, good for him, Like, fuck,
he's jack too, you know. And so we're I'm watching
him play the air drums and heavy metal going on,
and he finishes and kind of walks over to where
the waters are and everything, and we're standing there by

(49:35):
the trainer's room and I'm like, how is that bike ride?

Speaker 4 (49:38):
You know, mister Burns?

Speaker 3 (49:39):
And he goes, you know what, he goes started off
as like a five piece drum kit and he goes.
By the end, I was hitting like a twelve fifteen
piece drum kit and he goes I was just rocking
out and I was like, this guy, you are Brett
Burns to a tea and you were just an awesome guy.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
It's so funny.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
And I was like, this is unbelievable walking up and
seeing one of the dads on the team just playing
air drums with actual guitars, not guitar but drums stick
with heavy metal in Jean's pissing sweat. So that's my
best Brent Burns story, which is his dad and shout
out to him, who's just He's just a great guy
and it was so fun meeting him. And I mean,

(50:16):
it's a reason. It's a little bit of a small
people keyhole lens into how crazy and kooky and amazing
Brent Burns is.

Speaker 2 (50:25):
I love that, mister Burns.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
Excellent And the last one for you The Hockey World
stun Wednesday again more Sharkstock hero spectator of Salem Say Sharks.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
He engaged in some sort of angry confrontation with the team's.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
Mascot, Sharky, after claiming the mascot pushed him out of
his chair. The encounter got so heated that the usher
had to intervene again. You are a former Shark, you
work for the Sharks, you're calling radio games here. I mean,
have you ever seen anything like this when getting an
alter case?

Speaker 2 (50:50):
Was Sharky?

Speaker 4 (50:52):
That fan should be real careful because Sharky would have
beat the shit out of him. Tough guy, no cap
Oh what has smoked him?

Speaker 3 (51:01):
And anytime you see a guy go like this and
go hey and turn away and walk away, would I
kicked shit out of him? So I don't know how
many beers that guy had, but be wary of a mascot. Man,
you never know what's what's under what's under the hood,
so to speak.

Speaker 4 (51:15):
You never know, uh you know it.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
I just honestly, I would be careful. Don't test the mascot.
You don't know the pain they have behind those those
beady little fabric guys.

Speaker 1 (51:26):
So you get a new loan you're trying to take
on a mascot like that, that's a soul searching moment.

Speaker 3 (51:32):
Like even if you punch him straight up, you're not
hurting him. He's got protection and then he's swinging on you.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
So I would Yeah, it's a new low.

Speaker 3 (51:41):
That guy needs to go and check his four oh
one k or do something, buy some more bitcoin flow.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
