horse that can't be tamed.

It's it comes into your life. The Shaw leather jacket
flitters in and out of your life like a like
a trickster. Spirit.

Sometimes can be very short period a.

Very short period of time. I had the glory of
seven years on boy Mets. Well, actually, now we've discovered
I only really had it for probably four seasons, so
I had one and even then I'd still ended up
on other actors. But ultimately, as many of our listeners know,
I had the leather jacket. I took it with me
to New York where it was stolen out of my

car in Brooklyn.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Somebody broke into my car and took it.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
And then, uh, several months ago, Danielle sent me an
email that she had gotten from one of our listeners.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Dear, dear listener, Megan, and her last name is h
I R E S. I don't know exactly how say it.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Megan who had isolated the brand, and she thought the
specific model of jacket, and she sent a photo and
indeed it looked exactly like the leather jacket. And we
now know that the Shawan leather jacket was definitely a
Hind garricket.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
And they're spelled h E I N word G E
R I c k E. That is the brand for
sure for made the Shawn leather jacket.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
But the tricky part is, like so many motorcycle jackets,
like most of the motorcycle jackets out there have like
the extra flaps in the front, like so.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
It doubles over.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
It's a double breasted or whatever that term single breast,
I don't know whereas what I had was just sort
of a regular more like a racing zip.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, just a regular zip up in the front. And
so those are much harder to find.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
She had found one that was a Hind garrick looked
exactly like it. Danielle took the liberty of ordering it
for me because this was an e for sale.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
It was a true vintage nineties jacket for sale.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
And there was part of us that was secretly hoping
it was the actual jacket that some extra had stolen
in Brooklyn and resold years later. So we did a
whole unboxing one of our live shows.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
We did. It was a special treat. We we mailed
it there. Let's get I mean, it wasn't We went
through a whole thing.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
That's exactly right. So I received the leather jacket. I
then got so I took a picture of the box.
I sent it to the guys in our Podmets World
group chat and I said, the jacket has arrived. And
then I said, do you want me to open it?
Because there was a lot of discussion about this jacket,
what if it's the real one? Writer was looking at
the measurements and he was like, oh man, it's going

to be huge on me, Like, I don't think it
can be the right one, because the measurements make it
seem like it's going to be big. And I said,
I don't know, leather jacket red measurements are kind of weird.
They look like they're bigger, but when you actually put
them on, it's.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Not like that.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
And he's like, I don't know, I don't know, and
in realize where I purchased it. The minute they send
it to you, within a couple of days, they want
you to leave a review. They want you to say, yes,
I have received it and the item is as described.
And I said, do you guys want me to open it?
And writer said no, let's wait. Let's actually open it
on stage in Philadelphia for our thirtieth reunion at our

live show.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
And I might take credit for that. I might have said,
we should send it to the live show.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
I don't normally take credits for credit for things, but
I will think that was my idea.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Okay, So Will said that thank you credit to Will.
God forbid. Will does not get credit, even though credit.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I never got. Oh, but that's because writer doesn't step
up to take the credit.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Writer is passive. You are not okay, thank you. So
I fill out a false thing for that for where
I was like, we love it. I just I take
responsibility if we don't end up loving it. They could
have sent me a comforter and I wouldn't have known.
I was like, it's great. And then I pay like

thirty some dollars to ship it to Philly. It arrives
in Philly. We get to the live show and realize
we've forgotten it at the hotel. We have never even
picked it up. We don't even have it with us.
We scramble. We panic Susan not to be confused with
Susie Rider's pony.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
We never get from that.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Susan Will's wife, we definitely know of. Hops in a car,
goes back to the hotel for us like an unpaid assistant,
and picks up Rider's leather jacket.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
The show.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Five minutes before Jensen pre scores the box for us.
So the box is already just needs you just need
to lift open the top when we're on stage, and
at the end of the live show, we bring out
the leather jacket and we pull it out, and the
audience audibly gasped at the look of this leather jacket
and Rider please continue the story.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
It looks exactly like Sean's leather jacket. It is not
the actual one, I can tell because it is less
worn in. It also still has hind garrick like on zippers,
which we couldn't have had, and it has an embossed
hind garritt on the sleeve like on the shoulder, which
wouldn't have worked on our show. But the cut is
exactly the same. Yep, I put in the back from

(05:52):
the back, it's the exact same jacket.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I put this thing on and it fits like a glove.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Perfectly, glove perfectly, and the crowd goes wild. I wear
it for the rest of the show. We do our bows.
I feel at home in this jacket. I feel like
this is the Shawn jacket substitute. I now have it
in my life. I band this down to Indy when
he is grown up and say this is close enough.

(06:17):
You shall take this now. My son inherit from me.
The next morning, I couldn't fit the leather jacket in
my bag because we had pluggage, and you know, I
don't ever check bags, because no, we.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Want to take carry on. That's how they get jacks,
they get check bags.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
So so I'm now carrying my normal carry on backpack,
my ROLLI bag that you don't check and fit in
the overhead compartment, and then a shopping bag with just
the leather jacket and maybe a couple other you know,
free items that I couldn't also fit, like things people.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Had given me or whatever.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
And we get onto the bus from the rental car
to the or the shuttle from the rental car to
the airport terminal, and we have one of the very
odd experiences that doesn't happen to me very often, happens
to Danielle all the time. But some guy walks right
up to me and is like in the shuttle, are
you right or strong? And I'm like, yeah, yeah, here

(07:14):
we go, because of course, if he looks two inches
to my left, there's Wilfred Nell and across this on
the other bench across from us in the shuttle is
to Panga.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
But no, he proceeds to.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Get a lotally recognized I'm a.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Conversation with me and did not notice the rest of
the cast.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
A boy meets world right there now.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
It also happened that this moment happened twenty five seconds
before we arrived at where we were getting off the shuttle,
So you have about a twenty twenty five second interaction
with the story. And then shuttle doors open and Will
and I grab our bags and hop off, and writer
jumps out as well.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
And then you are in line TSA security and it's
a long one and we're even though we're TSCA pree check,
we're stuck in the very long line, and we're Philly. Yes,
we're in Philly. We are in the TSA pre check line.
And I look up at who was I with?

Speaker 2 (08:09):
Will?

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Yeah, well, and I because yeah, and I my heart
just thinks and I realized I've left the shopping bag
with the infamous leather jacket on the shuttle bus and.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Trying to find a lost and found.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Well wait, sorry to interrupt you, writer, Will. I want
you to do the impression of what happened when Writer
realized it.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
So he it was a total visual thing because we're
sitting there and we're like, wow, this is it's it
was a lot.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
The line for.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
TSA was long enough to demand comment where we were like,
this is the longest, this is amazing. And then we're
just kind of sitting like I wonder how long it's
going to be, and Writer's just like and he's you
watched you could see something happened, like the color drain anyway,
and I went what like I thought something was like
what He's like, I don't have the jacket, And I
was like, what is the bag I don't have? I

(08:59):
don't have the jacket, And you could see the panic
set in because it was instantly do I get out
of this ridiculously long line to try to run down
the shuttle.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Which shuttle is long gone. It's a shuttle that's shared
by all the rental car correct. So that was my
problem is that I can no longer. I can't call
the rental car company. I can't call the airport. I
have to fit find the specific shuttle for it that
shared by all the rental Oh my god.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
And it was just him going. And then the greatest
thing was for going. And Danielle had was behind us
with Jensen to I think return the other car or
something was there we were, and Yer just slicks at
me and goes, you tell her, and I go what
he goes? You tell Danielle go, I'm not telling Danielle
that you lost the Jacket's like, you should tell her.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Tell Daniel's like she mailed it all the way from Philly.
She's I was like, I know, you gotta tell her.
He's like, all right.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
And then I said it on the phone before the fly,
leaving messages in my phone number, multi answer machines and
lost and founds.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Here's the You don't choose the jacket. The jacket chooses yes, yes,
It's sort of like a sword in the stone.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
I think maybe in some ways the curses that I
let the first one go and now you didn't.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
It was taken from you. You didn't let it go.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
I wasn't worthy will something I think. I think, I
think it will come the will.

I think I'll take responsibility for this and say I
didn't place an air tag in it. I should have
only given it to writer an air tag in it.

And when you did wrong is we didn't do the

been doing a little bit of goggling, which is how

it was even vintage then maybe.

I think it seems like it's a UK company. I mean,
I'm wondering if somebody there would be able to look
at the jacket and know what it was.

And you never gotten by that, and you tried and
did you even get a call back from any of
this a single callback? And you were on the phone.
We were sitting there in the air, beautiful jacket.

On second second, somebody opened up that bag, they were like,
I am keeping score school jacket. Maybe chose them or
maybe if it away into the night on a different shuttle.

But if it was the same person who stole your
original one, Guys like random, this is the greatest, Like
the ninth jacket that's coming to me in my life,
what the hell would be great?

I think the first one that was really stolen out
of his car. I don't know if you would call

season three, episode seventeen, The Pink Flamingo Kid. It originally
aired February sixteenth, nineteen ninety six. The synopsis is that
Corey accidentally catches a thief on tape at Shawn's trailer park.
He plans to enter the footage in a news contest,
but hesitates after Sean admits the thief is one of

his relatives. It was directed by Jeff McCracken. It was
written by Mark Blutman and Howard Buskang, and it guest
stars Herschel Sparber as Uncle Mike Hunter. This is his
third appearance on the show. We saw him the first
time as the delivery guy in the episode with TK,
and then he exactly Steake delivery guy and then he

made his second appearance as Uncle Mike Hunter.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
And motorcycle Shop. Right, we at the.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Motorcycle shop exactly. This is his third appearance. And then
we have Maury Sterling as Eddie Hunter. Then we have
Blake Foster as Danny. So what did you guys think?

I I this is a weird episode. I have thoughts.
I have thoughts.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
I don't think it's bad, but I think it has
I don't think it's bad, I think it's forgettable.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
And so funny because I disagree entirely. You loved it.
I didn't love it, but I think I thought it
was I thought it was good. I enjoyed it. But
this has so many quotable.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Moments from this episode for sure, I mean, we're still
after another.

Well, let's say there were there were two things I
remembered about this episode. One Kyle of course, one of
the greatest pointments world shokes ever. I definitely remember the
Blood family people who I didn't and I didn't realize
that came from this episode.

So that's that's great. But I also.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Remembered this This was my first Counting Crow's concert was
the night we taped this episode. Really ran I was
like all our remembers thinking how do I get out
of here to make it in time to the an
That's all I cared about, and I remember that because
I remember being on that set with a trailer, but
I didn't remember much of the story, and I do
have problems with it. I think I say forgettable intentionally

because I think that the fact that Eddie disappears from
our storyline world cannon.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
But I also think that's indicative.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
Of of of a problem with this episode, which I've
been thinking about trying to nail down, like why I
didn't like it or why it was forgettable in my mind,
And we can get into it later, but ultimately I
just think it's a it's a weird episode that doesn't
really fit with the rest of boy Bee. Your storyline
is very funny, you were very funny, and the Feenie
like message is.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Nice, but I remember a lot of this episode. What
did you, Danielle? Yeah, I'm good, what Danielle thought.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I really enjoyed it, And yet I see kind of
what writer's saying about it being a little bit forgettable
because I didn't remember anything about the episode. I also
wasn't there obviously, so that would help explain why I
didn't remember any of it. But I also I think
maybe this episode fell a little prey to the idea

again that they bring in characters we're never going to
see again to teach a really great lesson, and instead
of attributing that importance to characters that mean a lot
to the universe. Yes, we give these very important things
to people that were who are flitting in and out,
and then we lose some of the importance because the
character themselves is kind of forgettable. So I agree with

what you mean, but I love so many things about it.

Me too, so many quota che I mean, it should
have been Chet and Turner, should have been what Blood
and Family was about.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Obviously, yes, exactly exactly, I really, yes, absolutely, even Uncle Mike,
even him reporting Uncle Mike. But you know what I
But then again, I also understand why if Corey had
seen Uncle Mike do something, Corey would have known he
was going to report on Sean's family, and then you
have the problem of, well, what kind of friend would
report on their like you would have that. I actually

loved the reveal that it wasn't the twist. Yeah, so
let's get into it. Let's jump into our recap because
we're getting we're getting in the weeds and we've just started.
So to start, we are in Turner's apartment. We have
a POV shot from a handheld camera, which is now
at this point just a boy meets World trope.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
It is, it's so weird.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
We loved it. So we see a hand knocking on
the door and Turner opens it, asking Matthews what's with
the camera, and Corey responds, well, mister William says, a
newsman always has his camera ready. You don't mind if
I keep shooting, do you? Turner says no, go ahead,
and he slams the door in his face, and then
Corey knocks on the door again, with Turner telling him
if he turns the camera off, he'll let him back in,
and Corey asks what he's hiding. Turner says, my disdain

for you, mis Dane.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
I just remember him saying that this whole week too,
where it was just like, are you saying Disdane is Dane?

Speaker 2 (17:48):
I don't think my disdain for you?

Speaker 1 (17:54):
My disdain?

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah. It was a weird and fastest.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Corey sees Sean and calls out to him, but says
he's on the phone, Sean asks his dad, I was
going to celebrate his birthday, and Sean laughs and tells
the guys, Oh, he's going to the dog track with
President Clinton.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Can we talk about I'm coming from upstairs?

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Yeah, like you've got your own room now part of
the set.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
But like this always existing room, We've never used those
stairs before?

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Wait?

Speaker 4 (18:19):
Has there been stairs there? That's what I'm wondering. Have
I watched my we walk down? I was like, what
was that? Did that always exist and we just never
used it? Or did they literally add.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
A Turner comes from that area? Because Turner has come
from the left side, not not the right side where
you came from. But when Turner's come from the left side,
has he had to go downstairs to come from there?

Speaker 2 (18:40):
No? Are you sorry either?

Speaker 4 (18:42):
But I'm coming from the right side, like from upstairs
on the right. Which I don't know if that those
stairs just appeared this episode or if they've always been
there and we've literally just never used them, which might
make me well.

This goes in with that.

Has the fake fish tank that then came in our apartment,
which is exactly the same fish tank that then was
there was now in Turner's has that always been there.

Yes, it has in that same spot. Yes, as far
as I know, fish tank.

Built upstairs right near there that we've never noticed before
because I think.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
There have been stairs there. Well, you we've definitely never
used the right side, we've never used that. But I
seem to remember when Turner was in his tight tank
top and he came out, he was like coming out
from his room getting ready for something. I'm pretty sure
he came out from that left side and came down
a couple stairs. So I think the part we've never
seen before is you around like around the corner over

to the right right.

I thought that I came out and the tight tank
top from the left he did from the left side.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
I think the stairs a sense of upstairs there.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
There was a sense of upstairs there, but I think
it was.

Just you know, behind the couch goes up a step, definitely,
like that's slightly elevated. But I think the it's I
always thought that the implication was that the rest the
apartment was to the left and that those there were
two bedrooms down there where Shawn's bedroom and Turner's bedroom
were down there. But now we're in you know, I'm
wondering if up to the right is where Sewn actually sleeps,

like in something offt area.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
That Sean sleeps on the couch because he's get a pillow,
you know, can I get a pillows?

Speaker 2 (20:19):
So there wouldn't.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Turners like, I have two bedrooms, but the other one
I like to keep my clothing, so you're just going
to be on a couch. I like my helmets are
in there, so that's my helmet room.

You're welcome to stay, but not for too long. If
you catch my dad.

That's where I keep the paint that becomes my genes.

So my disdaane lives there, my disdain and x man,
I don't know disdain.

Okay.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Sean asks his dad if he's coming home soon and
tells him he really misses him. Korey asks Turner where
Sean's dad is calling from, and Turner replies he says,
Air Force one. But I have my doubts. I heard
people yelling in Spanish. Sean tells his daddy, glad to
hear he's doing so well. Chet says he has to
go because the president needs the phone, and Sean tells
Corey and Turner Yeltsin's on call waiting, Sean tries his

(21:08):
daddy can't wait too, and then he realizes his dad
has already hung up.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
Now, can we just.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
About how great of a character Chet is that he
can get this much many jokes and pathos and an
emotional moment, Yeah, without ever being on camera, and everybody
knows who he is and we are all laughing and
the whole, Like the story is propelled by a character
who doesn't even have to be on screen because it's
so well established. And that's not just because of the writing,

(21:34):
which was also great creating the character, but obviously Blake's performance.
It's just lodging everybody's I'm able to do an impression.
You have an impression and that's it and it gets
a laugh because everyone knows that it's it's just one
of the greatest television Like, you know, I mean, he's
only been two episodes, right.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Two episodes the whole I think he does what THEO
giving you away, right.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Mendela effect.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
If you ask most people about Boy before, they would
have thought by this episode he's been on you know,
six times, does exactly well.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Same with I mean every time Danielle is not on
an episode, I'm like, are you when is this girl
part of the show. It's like, my god.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
So Sean sits down and says he didn't even get
a chance to sing him happy birthday. Sean says family
is really important to the Hunters. Ched always says, where
it's family, there's a place to hide. Shawn's dad didn't
say when he'd be coming back, but he did say
he's excited to see him. Sean adds, I bet it'd
make him really happy to see how well I'm doing.
I thought that is just what a what a touching
and sweet moment where your heart goes out to Sean

(22:31):
that like he's doing well and he just wants his dad.
I mean, it's exactly what approval. They just want your parents'
approval all the time.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
And I've said this before and I'm saying it again.
By this point, Sean is the star of the show.
This is another episode that Sean is the star of
the show.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
I mean, the.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Balance it boggles my mind because I'm watching this going,
how did I not realize?

Speaker 2 (22:58):
What was it like to me? Because and then.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
It affects the whole show because of course, like Amy
and Alan and Feenie are basically offshoots of Eric. Now,
like the only reason we see those characters is in
the b storyline with Eric, And like, what's so funny
is that I remember feeling like I was just like
I don't know the sixth tier character on the show
still at this point, but there was no like if

I if I could go back, I would like maybe
tell my parents, like, hey, like writers, like one of
the stars of this show, maybe he should be aware
of that fact, or like because I had no clue,
I would just show up for work and I'd be like, oh,
there's a lot of lines this week, but like no awareness.
You seriously would be like how many scenes do I
have to be here for? And then when am I
going home? Instead of like having some sort of consciousness

of like what is happening, they are writing this incredibly
well developed storyline.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Yeah, have fun, kid, or like take but you're the
star of the show at this point.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
It's so indicative too, of what we talk about with
week after week of doing the show, where they were
writing each episode as if it was its own little
time capsule instead of thinking about it on a whole,
and we as actors were coming into every episode thinking
about them as their own little entity. Had you looked
back and been like the character arc for Sean this

(24:14):
season has been this, you'd be like, this whole season
is about me and you, but you never thought about
it in terms of season or scope of show. Every
week was just what are we doing this week? What
do I say this week? So it's just so funny order.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
It feels sort of like they all felt like one offs.
Every week for the most part, felt like one off.
I'm sure that that isn't true later because they definitely
had an awareness. Oh yeah, yes, But besides the Quary topanga,
which does already feel serialized, none of it, none of the.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
Eric Weatherman stuff we had. Those two episodes were back
to back.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Those follows, right, I remember that felt like me and
Larissa our relationship felt serialized. But like at this point, yeah,
like recognizing that you could just pop into an episode
in the entire emotional way the episode is Sean and
his family, like that's yeah, yeah, I just had no
awareness of how big a part of the show I was.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Well.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Turner says, his dad can see how well he's doing.
Corey has his video camera. He can put Sean on tape.
Corey tells Sean, we can go down to your old
trailer park and get all your relatives on tape. I'll
shoot it. Sean loves the idea of putting the Hunter
family on tape. He says it'd be like Court TV
without the court. And then we're in the school hallway.
Corey runs through the hall telling Sean, I got a
light camera video everything we need to film your family.

(25:29):
Sean reminds him, when you're near my aunt Loraina, keep
your hands where she can see him, and don't reach
for anything quickly in your pocket. And then mister Williams
walks up and says, hey, Matthews. Corey responds, Hey Williams.
He gives him a weird look, and Corey ads, come
a mister A, mister Alex is so great in this scene,
so as per huge effortlessly cool, I know. Mister Williams

(25:52):
tells him, well, glad to see you signed out video equipment.
Guess you're entering that news contest and Sean interrupts, no,
he's actually just shooting a video for me. Corey asks
what content mister Williams is referring to, and Eli tells
him it's for high school kids all across Philly. They're
running the best story on the air. I think you
got a shot, and I buy it easily because we
have seen Corey with a camera. But this is the

(26:13):
first time we've really ever sort of established that Corey
loves this and that Corey's like pursuing this rightly.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
No, I think I think that this is riffing on
the Janitor Butt episode.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
Where her okay, that's true, which.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Was again a project for mister Williams or a news
like wanta be journalist documentary moment.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Yes, so No, I think it's pretty.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
And and I I think part of why I have
mixed feelings about this episode is because that Janitor Butt
episode was so good as far as the complexity, Like,
so inserting one of those situations here with like he's
going to catch something on tape that he shouldn't have
or that has a moral question of whether he should expose,
like it just felt like rehashing and in in a

(26:53):
less interesting way for me, less a less complicated way
it was.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
It's more sort of clear cut, like you don't you know,
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
I yeah, okay, But but no, I think it's established
that Corey is like, clearly one of wants to be
a videographer or you.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Know, is into this at least maybe an into news,
like likes the idea of news important important subjects. Well,
mister Williams tells Corey, he's pretty good with that camera.
You better get on it. It's due in two days, Seanna.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
Just the worry not he is terrible with that camera.
That's awful.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Everything it's always hands help because you got to make
it look like he's doing it. Gotta make it look
like a kid's a kid's holding the camera and that
shaky kind of out of focus and it's it's like.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
It's like reality bites that movie when you when you
go back and watch it, and the whole movie is
built around the fact that she's like this great documentary.
You're like, no, no, no, she's she's terrible. She's a
horrible camera person. She's getting really bad boring subjects of
spoiled rich people. This is not interesting, like go be
a good filmmaker would have maybe the story makes sense.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
It could have just been great if they had said,
you've got a good you can sniff out a story
like because he because they.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Can't hide behind a garbage can and get the actual crime.
He literally walks up in the next or you know.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
He also out loud, gotta get.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Closer, I gotta get closer. He's he's genuinely.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Horrible, genuine he could never be a ninja, let's put
it that way. Mister Williams tells him it's his call,
but if he gets inspired and wins a contest like this,
he's on his way. Corey smiles and says, well, I
hear yes, slap me some and Eli holds out and
he holds out his hand for Eli to high five.
Mister Williams laughs and walks away. Corey takes his unslapped

(28:28):
hand and he runs it through his hair. He's Alex
Day's are ladies and gentlemen. Just such a great scene.
He just amazing presence. I love every single time we'll
see him do something. It's amazing. Phoene's walking down the
stairs yelling behind. Come on, mister Matthews, don't dondle Eric
who's holding a box of things. Correct, Phoene, He's not dawdling.
He's just not wearing any underwear.

Speaker 2 (28:50):
Not sure, why?

Speaker 1 (28:51):
What?

Speaker 2 (28:52):
What? What is that joke?

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Why? Just yeah, just walking strangely because I'm going commando.

Speaker 2 (28:57):

opportunity to do something physical more than anything.

a little more than he needed to know. Eric pulls
the lamp out of the box and asks, what are
you gonna do with this junkie old lamp. Phene responds
that junkie old lamp is worth over eight hundred dollars.
Eric laughs and asks without a light bulb, pushaw. Do
you think pushaw was written in there like pushaw or
do you think it said something else and you made

(29:37):
it pushaw?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
No?

Speaker 2 (29:38):
I think it was probably written as pshaw you think so, right? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (29:41):
I think that it doesn't seem like that's something I
would add. I think that was probably put in there
just like that Mike, Okay.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
So Eric's toying around with the lamp and he tells
Phoene to bottom line him. Phoenie admits he was cleaning
out his attic when he stumbled upon a trunk that
belonged to his great aunt Fanny, and Eric asks Fanny, phoene.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
They're so good all this, I remember all this.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
So cute, like you know, the writers just like throughout
the name Fanny, and then they're like wait, wait what
they're like that's going in.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Phoene shakes his head and tells him don't go there.
Phoeney continues, anyway, out of curiosity, I took it to
Lankersham and sloans and Eric nods a the roofers. Phoenix says, no,
the appraisal house may invite the public to bring in
they're so called junk. Every once in a while you
find a treasure.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Little known fact.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Lankersham is a street in Los Angeles, so in the
great tradition names.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah, I wonder if we'll ever get a kwanga.

Speaker 2 (30:36):

Don't you remember what your oh my god, that's like
the bizarro topanga would just don't you remember what your
daughter's name was supposed to be?

Then he runs after Phoene, saying, it's a great idea.

Your junk, my junk. We'll go into business together, can't
you see it? Ericson's Phoene takes the box room him
and says, I can see why you get first billing now,
will I noticed here you're doing some really great lamping,
which is lamp acting.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Thank you. They held on me while I was lamping
at the end.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
I know it was so good they couldn't break away
from you exactly.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Well, there's a whole nother scene of just me staring
at it, but they ended.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Up cutting it.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, oh, okay, scene it's to.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
See in six minutes. I'm just looking at.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
The six minutes seven pages. I also really like in
the scope of the Eric character. I like that this
is yet another sign that he isn't a lazy kid
like Yeah, he.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Wants to work and chase opportunities.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
He's an entrepreneur like he has. He just isn't a
traditional school kid. But he loves the idea of flipping something,
digging for treasure finding, you know, today's junkin tomorrow character.
It's so great.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
I also all new people like that growing up. One
of my closest friends growing up. He was the guy
who always had three businesses, even from the time or fifteen.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Yeah, he mode lawns.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
He did, you know, he put out the newspaper he did,
and it was like, are you doing nine jobs and
you're fourteen years old?

Speaker 2 (32:38):
We always knew people like that.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
Yeah, yeah, pretty awesome. Corey and John are in the
trailer park and Shawn says they can start with his
uncle Mike. Corey will love him. Out of all his relatives,
he's easily the warmest and friendliest. Sean knocks on the
door and Mike yell's from the inside get lost. Come.
Corey tells him maybe we shouldn't bother your uncle, but
Sean responds, I think that's my aunt. He knocks again
and yells uncle Mike open up. The voice from inside
yells again and there is no Uncle Mike. I'm an

(33:01):
old shut in living on my pension. Go away, and
Sean responds, it's me, your nephew. Uncle Mike opens the
door and he gives Sean a big hug, calling him Shawnee.
Corey's recording the whole thing, and Mike notices, covering himself
with his hands and asks, what's with the camera? Sean,
you set me up. Sean reminds him of the video
letter he told him about, and he introduces Corey. And
I thought at first it was weird. I was like,
wait a minute, We've already met Uncle Mike. Why is

(33:23):
he introducing him to Corey? But then I remembered that
was from by Hook or by Crook, and not only
was Corey not in that scene. Then had Finals, he
was like barely even in the episode Motorcycle right exactly.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
And then the first time he met him, he was
a different character, because I think he does meet him
in a different episode, but.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
He meets him the steak delivery for TK, so this
say is yeah, so it's the first time. So Finals
kept them away from each other. Sean tells Uncle Mike
he appreciates him doing this, and Mike says, I know
how much family means to you, Shawnee. Besides, everybody here
at the Pink Flamingo Trailer Park is really excited about
being a part of it. He pauses and says, well
except for Grandpa Lewis. He got picked up. And Sean says,

(34:03):
police might clarifies tornado and the laughs here are super loud.
Was this was any part of this filmed in front
of the studio audience or was this a choice by
the laugh guy to make the laughs choice for the
laugh guy.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
I also, I mean this is where I think the
whole episode falls apart. It's a little bit of this
is the weakest.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
This is this whole section of like touring the trailer
park leading up to the joke of them all doing it, yeah,
you know, with their faces hidden and their is altered.
That's where I'm just like okay, because I think you're right, Will,
like Sean is the center of the episode, right, like
Seawan's faund and yet here it's still being played for

(34:42):
a joke, yes, right, and joke after joke after joke,
and it's like, okay, you can't take you can't take
Verna from Cheers and put her on screen like that
loses all the humor. Right, So, like, if you're gonna
make Sean actually like an emotional like we're supposed to
feel something about this, it should just get right to
what it's actually like in the trailer park. Or maybe

(35:02):
we should get to know some of these characters. Maybe
Uncle Mike shouldn't just be this one note joke over
and over again. But it keeps being this one note
joke of like they're they're criminals, they're all trailer trash
criminal too funny, it's and then it reduces Sean's emotional.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Connection to these Yeah, it should.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
This is an opportunity if Sean is going to be
if this is going to be about family choosing, then
why make them dismissive?

Speaker 1 (35:25):
But well, especially because how does Sean not even real
I wrote this later. How does Sean not hear himself
talking about family always being there for you when Grandma
won't even go on allegedly, or my son uncle Mike
won't do anything for him on camera, His dad and
mom are both not even there. So it is like

(35:46):
even for Sean, I'm going, how are you buying anything?
You're saying, yeah, you just.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Can't have it both ways.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
You can either have Sean and the family be a
complete joke, which is fine, and it's mostly off camera
and therefore it's Corey's storyline. We're supposed to care about him,
but if we're supposed to have the level of like
pathos that it reaches with me and Corey at the
end where I'm making this big choice for handle, but
I never believe any of these family. I never believe
that Sean is really not the way I do with

(36:11):
like Chet, right, Like, yeah, exactly what you were saying,
will it should be a Chet Turner episode about you know,
recognizing that my dad may love me, but that I
also need to choose other people that are maybe better
for me.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Well, there's a perfect example.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
I mean, what kind of shows exactly where they're going
to me is the tornado joke, right, because it's like
trailer park means tornado. It doesn't matter that you're in
Philadelphia where there aren't tornadoes. It's like that joke to
me is the perfect example of the way they decided
to go trailer park criminal like you can't and it's
like okay, wait, okay, all right, and so it was
more just cartoony and weird, and it was then building

(36:46):
one cartoony on top of another cartoony on top.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Of another cartoony and putting it on screen too.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
Right, I mean, I do think that there's something too
like you have these like more over the top jokes
in dialogue or like oh my cousin Mary does this,
or my you know my aunt, and you can, but
when you actually see them as people and their extra
is not speaking, or somebody with only one line, you're
suddenly like, well, I don't know, it loses the humor
for me if it comes to go more funny and

(37:12):
more ridiculous. We were actually have these give these people
some some heart and have some some sun. This goes
to what Michael that what I heard Michael say that
one time. I think we talked about this on one
episode where you were talking about I was standing behind
him at the monitor and you were on screen talking
about the people at the trailer park, and Michael turned
to the other producers and went, I'm going to want
to meet these people. And so it was like they

(37:33):
could tell right then that they were already planning on
we got to bring some of these people on. But
I think Chad is the perfect way to meet these
ex Having this many characters, is this kind of like
Breezy tossed aside.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
I think my one critique would be that we should
have just gotten to know one of them a little more,
And maybe it should have been Uncle Mike. If they
weren't going to have it be Chet, maybe Uncle Mike
should have had a little bit of a bond where
we get we get a little deeper with him and
we see him actually connect and bond with Sean. That
would be my worst start with Eddie start exactly.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
And the thing about Eddie is what you mentioned earlier
is that you have to save a twist, right, so
they can't introduce Eddie as part of my family because
early ones then it ruins.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
The story, the plot.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
But unfortunately, introducing Eddie and my relationship with him more connected,
that we actually have a relationship, that he is a
fully dimensional character would have been great.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Yeah, I still think you could have had You could
have had a touching bonding moment with Uncle Mike that
is interrupted by Eddie, and Eddie brings in this tension
and we go, what's going on there? And Eddie could
I mean you know, Mike could have to get.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Between you and Eddie.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
You can apply that like maybe Eddie always beat me
up as a kid, and therefore that's why I'm scared of.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Him, or that he's a bully.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
Right, Yeah, Yeah, you didn't need the Once they got
to the grandmother and you got to the whole family
doing the thing, it was like you didn't need any
of that.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
It just took it to such a weird level.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
So we're still in the trailer park, Sean stands next
to an old woman and a man who's wearing a
suit and holding a briefcase. He talks to the camera, Hey, dad,
it's me standing here with Grandma Hunter and her attorney.
Since grandma's under a gag order and medication, her attorney
prepared the following statement. And then, as we've talked about
just too much it goes on, Sean holds up a
piece of paper reads to my alleged sun Chet, Happy birthday.

(39:28):
Corey turns off the camera and Mike tells him any
woman that can give birth to me is one tough broad.
Do you guys remember anything about this background actor they
cast as your grandmother?

Speaker 2 (39:38):
No?

Speaker 1 (39:39):
They there, No, I wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
That's right, you weren't there.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
I'm not a part of this show.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
No, you're not on boy me thrilled at all.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
But now, Sean, yet somebody like this is why we
have stand ins all WEEKO because she wouldn't have shown
up until actual tape days. Yeah, and she would have
been there for a couple of hours. Yeah, that's all
week we would have been, you know, working with one
of our stand in actors pretending to be her. So yeah,
I don't cameberr because I probably only met her. Yep.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
Sean thanks Corey again for doing this, and he tells him,
I've never seen my family open up like this, and
Corey clarifies, no one said anything. And again it's the
perfect thing. Sean's saying that had someone opened up, had
there been just a situation like with Mike where then
he says to Corey, I've never seen my uncle Mike
like this, it would have been really beautiful. That's my
one critique with this. Sean thanks Corey for doing this,

(40:25):
and he tells him, I've never seen my family open
up like this. Corey clarifies, no one said anything. Mike
tells Corey, maybe the problem lies within you. Outsider Corey
fake laughs and says it's food for thought. Sir Mike
stares at Corey and tells him I could take you.
Corey grabs Sean and walks away, telling him Uncle Mike
is insane and I in a line I absolutely love.
Sean says it was an option, but he never pleaded
that way.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
He pleaded that way. I love that.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Corey admits he thinks the tape would be better if
the family talked a little more, and then Mike yells
at Corey, you want a hunter to talk, put him
in a situation where they're not afraid to talk. They
smile at each other, the boys they've got an idea
Oriel's action, and a group of Hunters appears in complete
darkness so you can't see their faces. They start to speak.
There's a voice disguiser sounds very demon like by the way.
They all say happy birthday. Chat from all the Hunters

(41:11):
here at this undisclosed location. Corey announceays, Okay, I'm going
to turn the camera off, all right, I'm not going
from my pockets and uh, Sean appears and tells Uncle Mike,
dad's going to get a kick out of this. Mike responds, yeah,
it was nice having the family together. Corey ads, I'll
be sure to send you a copy, and Mike questions,
why would you make copies? Corey says, you're a tall
tall man. Mike brings him in for a hug and

(41:31):
says thanks. He turns to Sean and tells him you're good.
You've got a good friend here. Sean looks disappointed and
says uncle Mike. He responds, hey, it fell out, and
he hands Corey back his wallet. Ah, we've seen that
joke before. It's just all of this feels like the same.
If I could do one thing to the script, I
would just cross out this entire page.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Me too, Oh, I would have rewritten the trailer partner.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
Yeah, maybe it's just one want the same joke over
and over and over again, with no development.

Speaker 2 (41:59):
You know.

Speaker 3 (42:00):
Well, the unfortunate part about it, in the longer scheme
of things is actually this was really the first opportunity
to see where Sean came from, and you could have
done some truly amazing things with actually seeing where you've
now made them the star of the show. Why not
show what it was like for Sean to grow up?
And instead they just went cartoony.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
Well mayor just start with a criminal joke and then
develop it, change it, make it, make it more.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
You know, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (42:27):
There's just a million ways you could have gone, but
instead it's like they just keep going back to reverting
to like stole his wallet, need to change their voices.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
We don't make a copy.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
It's like, there are criminal families, there are criminal families.
There are families that are you know, families of Grifter's family.
So if they wanted to go that way, they could
have done an interesting thing where Seawan is trying to
break out of an actual family that was dangerous and criminal.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
They could have done that. But it's interesting though because
it is also a kids show. I get it, but
well no totally.

Speaker 4 (42:54):
I mean, we're wearing the weeds of craziness now, but
of analysis over analysis yet that's a given. But I
do think it's interesting because they they you are sort
of backed in a corner because you can't make poor
person jokes, right, Like, you wouldn't want to humiliate or
make jokes about Shawn's family being poor, which is kind

(43:15):
of the obvious given which is the class difference between them,
and so to make them criminals is a clever way
to be able to try and get laughs show these people,
you know, because because it's not at their expense, right,
because you don't want to be laughing at their expense,
so you have to sort of make them criminals, yeah,
lovable criminals. And then it's like okay that they that

(43:35):
were laughing at them and their their life situation, because
otherwise their life situation way worse than the Matthews and
like for them to have like, you know, the for
the their second class citizens compared to the Matthews.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
Well, they do that later with our with Ariana with
Ariana Richards when she comes on where they really show
the trailer park and she's being abused by her dad
that episode, I mean, they show all that, so it's
like it's yeah, right, Well.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Here's the whole point of this is that we've got
to get to the introduction of Eddie. So finally, Funny
Pages in a group of boys walks up to them
and says, well, look who's slumming. It's Sean. Sean acknowledges them,
and Eddie continues, I guess this is the part where
you wise up and return to the trailer park. Sean
tells him no, he's actually really happy where he is.
Eddie says, oh, yeah, suburbs where the fancy homes are

(44:18):
built into the ground. He looks at Corey and says,
hey built in. Cory asks me, and Eddie asks if
he's got a name. Corey responds, it's Corey, but my
karate students refer to me as doctor Payne. That's a funny,
life funny.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
It's such a hole, this whole bully situa.

Speaker 4 (44:34):
I mean, doesn't this could be Danny right, Like this
could just literally it's like, oh, season two starting over
again and it's babboon and it's.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
Like the dialogues almost identical. It's so yep, they just
so stock. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (44:48):
I kind of wanted it to have any evolution, and
I guess the little kid is pretty is a nice
little evolution.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
But otherwise I was, like, I've seen that.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
I would have loved for the little kid to be
Eddie though, and to have the whole time just lean
into the idea that this little kid terrifying.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
That's funny.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
That would have been the thing that amazed me was
when he says he's eleven and he probably is eleven,
that's how old you guys were when you started and
watching that, look at the difference between where you are now,
and that was amazing.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
Amazing. Yeah. Uh.

Speaker 1 (45:17):
The youngest boy from the group walks up to Corey,
yelling at him I could take you, and Corey asks
what are you twelve? The boy clarifies eleven and I
can make you bark, which is a funny line. Eddie
and the rest of the group walk over to Corey's
camera and comment on how nice it is. Corey runs
over and pulls it away. Eddie asks what he's doing
at the trailer park and Sewan explains they're filming a
video with friends and family, and Eddie says, and you

(45:38):
didn't ask me to be in it? Should I be insulted?
Corey whispers to Sean, telling him he has plenty of tape.
Sean stops him and says no. Sean tells Eddie he's

just get lost? And Eddie tells him, no, we live here,
you don't, so the way I see it, you and
your friend Corky Dorky should get lost. Gorky Dorky good nickname. Yeah,
I like that. That is a fantastic insult name. Corky

dorky nickname. I like it, corky dorky. How have I
never thought of that? And then Corey yells hey, actually
a really good delivery of it. He was like, Hey,
I'm going to stand up for myself and uh, Eddie goes, hey,
what and Corey says, what's the fastest way out of here?
And Sean shakes his head at Eddie and he follows
Corey out, and then we're in the Matthew's kitchen. Eric

(46:21):
walks downstairs with a box full of junk and Amy
tells him you look filthy and he responds, yeah, filthy
rich Alan asks why he has a box full of
junk and Eric lets out a terrifying laugh.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
So this cackle became.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
It was originally in the script like two or three
more times, and then they were going to cut it down,
and then it was in the next episode real and
I remember Michael and I having a talk where I
was like, this shouldn't be a thing and he's like, no,
I agree, there shouldn't be a thing.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
And so so this.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
Cackle was going to it was going to be a
mark of yah it's going. Was like, not do that,
and and Michael's like, no, I couldn't agree with you more.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
So, oh wow, he pulled it out.

Oh it is. It is funny, but I could see
how the repetition would get old very quickly.

That's the classic sitcom thing. You try it out on
his feet. Yeah, by the second run through, it's been
written in ten times, and then you pull them back again.

It's exactly what happened. You've got an experiment.

dogs junk because he holds up a painting of dogs gambling.
Amy wordly tells Alan to take the sharp things out
of the box, and Rusty is drinking a dog's a
doctor pabsay. He is the can that will still has today.
It's so great. Eric tells him, Obviously, you guys aren't

going to figure this out one by yourselves. And Alan questions, obviously,
Eric says, mister Feene has googles. What is the word googles?

Speaker 2 (47:42):
Googles? Look at up googles.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
Okay, you've got googles.

Speaker 4 (47:45):
I thought you said for a second googles, and I
was like, did google exist?

Speaker 2 (47:50):
Is that a thing?

He said, googles of junk around his house.

It's oodles and gobbles together.

Maybe maybe I don't know. Well, he found out that
some of it could be worth a ton of money,
and then famous line alert, So I said to myself.
Kyle Allan interrupts Kyle and Eric clarifies, that's what I
call myself. Yeah, gosh, it's so funny.

I have so many people say this line to me
still to this day everywhere.

Speaker 1 (48:18):
Do you think, and this maybe is a dumb question
because answer is maybe obviously yes. Is this the first
time a joke like that has ever?

Speaker 5 (48:26):
Like?

Speaker 1 (48:27):
Is that the first time that's was there any sort
of precedence for a joke like that? I love that
idea that a character random mentions that they refer to
themselves as something so good, so good. Oh that's what
I call myself. Like, I love that idea.

I must have just been lightning.

Speaker 4 (48:45):
It must have been one of those moments in the
either the writers, we were on the page, or somebody
was just like, it's a most predictable line, Like I
said to myself, Eric, he calls himself something up.

Oh my gosh, it's so funny. I love it. I
literally can't get over it. I love those moments of
something that seems so simple and you're like, well, how
did every every person not come up with that? Some
genius who came up with that one moment? It's enough?

Speaker 2 (49:10):
Who's a credited writer on this episode?

Blutman and Busket, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (49:14):
I have no idea. I wonder if that was a

Amy tells them mister Feene's collectibles are from all over
the world. Alan stops her and says, no, Eric might
be onto something here. He tells them the garage and
the attic, they're chock full of undiscovered treasures. Why don't
you go clean them out and see what you can find.

(49:39):
Eric asks if they'd really let him clean out the
garage and the attic. Amy and Allen look at each other.
They do an exaggerated shrug, and Amy says, whatever makes
you and Kyle happy?

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Right there? Big boom alert? Did you guys see the
boom dropped down? Just drops.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
At all Man, So for our dear listeners. You may
have seen it on other show or even on our show.
The audio is picked up by booms overhead. They're big
microphones that hang overhead, and they are supposed to just
like the sharpie is right now. They're supposed to be
out of the camera frame. But still every now and
then you get a boom in the shot and you can.

(50:17):
The great thing is that during editing you can just
zoom in a little bit on the picture. You can
now you couldn't then Oh wow, what okay? So now
you can kind of get it out of there. But
back then it was a it was a big deal.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
I loved Rusty in this episode. Rusty and Betsy too.
Oh yeah, the kind of it's.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
One off and it's ball and they're awesome. So they're great. Yeah,
I loved it.

So Corey and Sean walk in. Corey tells his parents
they're going to Sean's to watch a tape. Sean is
carrying a box with a few items in it and
Eric stops him. Eric asks Sean what's in the box,
and Sean tells him just some junk I picked up
at the trailer park. Eric looks at the box and
tells him I'll give you a thirty bucks for that
pink flamingo. Sean says sure. Eric takes the flamingo and
hand Sean's the money as he laughs and calls him
a sucker.

I guess why you want? It?

Doesn't make any sense.

Why is it upstairs and I'm coming out or I'm

which also is not that great a joke.

just an association with different.

The trailer park is called the flink, the pink flamingo
trailer park. So it's a representation of where you live,
which is why you took it home with you. I
guess I don't know.

Speaker 3 (52:11):
They think, Yeah, okay, it's used. It used to be
a symbol to show your hospitality and morphed from there.
Today the pink flamingo meaning is used as an indicator
of a swinging lifestyle.

Speaker 1 (52:21):
Wow. Well listen, I mean I've.

Speaker 4 (52:25):
Heard of it.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
This was just in something.

Speaker 3 (52:27):
This was just in a big movie or in something
like that where they show up at a place where
she's like, oh no, they're the nicest people in the world,
and they have these flamingos and pineapples out front. It's like,
I think that that's another one. And the guy's like, wait,
what that means?

They swing? And so apparently that's.

The door and exactly, So that was like the big
joke is that? So I knew I was right about that.
So you're a giant swinging lifestyle trailer Okay, okay.

So then we're back in Turner's apartment. Cory and Seawn
are watching the film, and we hear Sean say so
happy birthday, Dad, and as they say, here at the
Pink Flamingo trailer park, hey, your house is on my lawn.
Corey pauses and apologizes, saying that guy Eddie walked through
the shot. Corey explains, I didn't say anything seeing has
how that scary eleven year old was with him, which
makes no sense because we left after meeting Eddie, so

(53:16):
this footage couldn't have.

Speaker 2 (53:17):
Been from and it's also Eddie.

Speaker 3 (53:21):
Eddie walks perfectly in the background while holding a computer
while you guys are shooting something that he didn't know
he was invited.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
The whole thing made knows. It was like, okay, yeah, that's.

Speaker 1 (53:30):
Just kind of like, couldn't this have because I didn't
think about that, right, or couldn't this have been shot
though before Eddie walked up and introduced himself?

Speaker 2 (53:36):
But then why is he scared of the eleven year old?

Speaker 1 (53:39):
Right right?

Speaker 2 (53:40):
I didn't say he would have just said, hey, can
we get these guys with their computers?

Speaker 4 (53:43):
But he was already he knew who Eddie was and
was scared of the eleven year old but hadn't met
him yet.

And then we left.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
Well, well, and I do think I'm realizing they did
add that line, which didn't really make a whole lot
of sense in the other scene. Come on, Sean, We've
already got plenty of tape, so they they wanted it.
They tried to fill in the holes, like you guys
had been recording.

Speaker 2 (54:04):
Shooting a bunch of stuff.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
Shooting a bunch of stuff.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
It's not rigorous storytelling.

Speaker 1 (54:10):
Although do we I'm not sure we need rigorous storytelling
in every Boy Meets World episode.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Sure, but it's also not a romp like there's nobody.

Speaker 1 (54:23):
Sometimes. I think what Boy Meets World struggles with is
the ability to we have at times tackled very big
subject matter in a very simple way, and then sometimes
we over complicate what should be a very simple thing.
And in this case, it sounds like we're over complicating it.

(54:45):
But really it feels like they were like, well, how
do we do this. Let's throwin another character, Well, how
do we do this, Let's have this joke machine of
all these different characters, and really, had they just said
we need we need Sean to have a connection to
his family. Let's not bring in too many extra people
like I think this, this could have, this could have
This episode could have been helped a little by pairing
it back.

Speaker 4 (55:06):
Yes, yeah, I agree, And the conflict ultimately is between
Corey Sean, right correct. Yeah, So to spend all this
time developing a new character to be Sean's family, to
have that twist, to have that, I just I think
it would. Yeah. It could have been a leaner, meaner,
and and probably more rigorous episode.

Yeah, we could have trimmed the fat a little, because what.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
You remember from this at the end of the day
is Phoene's line and the advice that he gives, which
is so profound and amazing, and there's just this.

I can't remember most about this week.

So Corey notices Eddie is carrying a computer in the background.
Corey says, what do you know the guy's a closet nerd.
Sean says, or maybe it's not his. Corey puts two
and two together and realizes it must be stolen. He says,
I have it on tape. This is great Sean wants
to know why that's great, and Corey mentions the news contest.
Sean stops him and says, wait, we went there to
film my family, not win you some news award, and
Corey responds, you got your video, I got my hot story.

(56:12):
Sean tells him do me a favor forget about the tape.
Corey laughs and says, come on, give me a reason.
Sean says he doesn't have to just drop it and
go home. Corey says he's not going anywhere without his tape,
and Sean asks, you want it, and he starts to
rip the film out of the tape, ruining all the footage.
Corey yells at him, saying he has no right to
do that. Sean says it's his family, he can do
whatever he wants, and Corey says, that's the last time
I do you a favor, hunter and he storms out

(56:34):
of the apartment. And because I didn't great scene, but
because I didn't know the twist, I was like, why
is everybody overreacting? How did we go to like a
two hundred? Here? First of all, Corey is grabbing you
by the arm, settled down a man. But then also
I was like why Like it bums me out that

(56:54):
Sean ripped up the tape because I could tell Sean
wanted that tape. I knew Sean, Yeah, I want he
wanted that. Why not just explain himself a little bit more.
Even if he doesn't come right out and say that's
my brother and I'm protecting my family, he could have said, listen,

(57:15):
quirky dorky, you are gonna get your butt handed to
you by these guys and you cannot do this. You
think do you think you're gonna win a news award?
You're gonna win a news award and you're gonna be
buried six feet underground when when that happened, thought so,
I just thought there.

Speaker 4 (57:30):
Would have been a better argument on corus eye, which
is it's the right thing to do, like these people
are breaking the stealing something. But the fact that he's
fighting for awards so aggressively, and it could have just
been a simple line of like, Sean, no.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
We have to do this, like we have diffidence of
a crime and that.

Speaker 4 (57:45):
Guy Eddie is obviously a bully, like he treated us horribly,
like why.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
Are you protecting and you know, but the problem is we.

Speaker 4 (57:51):
Have to save the twist again, like exactly, and I'm
not sure that the twist is worth it, like it
could have just the conflict.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
I disagree with you, I disagree with you.

Speaker 3 (57:58):
It's also but it's also the kid thing to do
when you're fourteen years old. You're thinking about the accolades,
What am I going to get from this? How am
I get You're not thinking about doing the right moral thing.
It's like, ooh, I could win that contest, right, yeah,
I mean that's kind of a very real thing when
you're a kid, where it's it's you know, it's just
the intensity, right, It's just like you win a contest.

Speaker 2 (58:15):
No, you can't, don't do that. That's Eddie. He lives
in my trailer park. It kind of diffuses attention. But
we instead we have everybody kind of overreacting.

Speaker 3 (58:22):
Corey and Sean can go from zero to ten like that,
like the emotional emotional hair triggers.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
And he just asked the panga as he breaks into
our room at night.

Speaker 1 (58:31):
Then we're in the school hallway. Sean walks up to
Corey saying his dad called from the White House. He
got to use the oval toilet. Corey says he wants
an explanation. Sean asks if it's about the tape. He
says he's sorry, but Corey tells him that's not an explanation.
He wants to know, why did you rip up my tape?
And Sean says it just happened, okay. Corey tells him
I caught those guys.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
It's his tape. Sewan apologize.

Speaker 4 (58:50):
This is like, I know, Coory is really tough, like no,
like you have to explain it, and.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
It's like really yeah, like he knows. Being very he's apology.

He's like, I'm sorry I ripped I'm sorry. Yeah, like
it was for his family. It's like, thanks for doing that,
core butt anymore.

Yeah, with all this going on, the only thing I
was thinking about the entire time was.

walks away. Corey grabs Sean's arm and says, I think
it bothers you that I've finally found something I'm good at.

And I was like, what weird? Oh, leap, is this
that you're jealous of me? That that has never that's
never been a thing in their friendship? Really, so I
thought I thought that was just weird. And now we're
back to being it from zero to one hundred. And
he's grabbing a Sean's arm and he's in his face,
and Seawan glare is at Corey and tells him, I

think you should shut up and let go of me
right now. Corey jils, why are you acting like I
did something to you.

Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
Because you're grabbing my arm and yelling at me. And
I apologize, like for ripping up the tape. That was
for me, It was al ready for him.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
I just wanted to fight. They wanted to.

Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
That was Sean Yell's back. I said, let go of me.
Corey pushes Shawn's arm away and Sean hits him in
the chest. Corey says, fine, let's see what you got Hunter,
h corky, dorky, what are you thinking it up there?

Amazing?

I tried to search for this and I couldn't find it.
There is an amazing comedian who does blow by blow
like sports castor commentary on like fight scenes and sitcoms. Yeah,
and he did one for this that is Hiss Dekle,
And he posted it on Twitter and I responded and
we like had some back and forth about it because
it is one of the funniest things I've.

I remember you guys going all out for the fight.

I think that's part of the problem is that we
clearly loved guy, like you can see that we're excited
to do like stunts and to be up in each
other's faces.

To a point that it doesn't really make sense.

It's like it's out of the character and and not
out of character in a I don't know. It's just
it's so dramatic and it's so serious, like you can
just tell in our faces that we're like really looking
forward to like doing rolling around on the ground and yeah,
doing this fight.

It did lead to one of my favorite lines of
the entire series, though, did you have to fight each other?

Yeah, I know. I love it too.

The boys start fighting. Corey pushes Sean into the lockers
and then onto the floor. Everyone around them starts screaming fight, fight, Fight.
Mister Williams and mister Turner run up, pulling them off
of each other and yelling at the other students to
get back to class, and then Turner looks confused, saying
Hunter Matthews, mister Williams asks, did you guys know you
were fighting each other? Very funny, great delivery.

Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
Actually the first fight we've ever had.

Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
On Yes, can we get close with Danny with Harley
almost right, all this threatening, all these like you know,
but we've never actually said.

Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
So this is interesting that the two central characters have
the first on camera fight.

Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
Yeah, And in all fairness, when you're thirteen or fourteen
and your boys, sometimes you just fight them with friends.

Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
You know what if you two and four year old boys,
you do it too, say there you go.

Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
So sometimes boys just fight. That's when and again there
is something too. And again if you're getting into this,
if we're getting into the psychological side of the boy
Mets World episode, there is something to Boys especially have
trouble articulating their feelings, especially with other friends, so sometimes
it just leads to fighting. Yeah, you know they say
that that boys fight and get their aggression out and

(01:03:23):
girls backstab each other to get their aggression out. So
it's it's perfectly in keeping with two fourteen year old boys.
Sometimes too not say what they mean, not actually have
the conversation they're supposed to, and then just fight.

Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Turner's also got a great multicolored tie on.

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
I don't know if one of the best ties he's
had there.

Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
And they're reminding me of hold the camera weirdly, did
you notice that, like like Tony is staring at you

Corey tells Turner, I'm good with a camera, and this
guy's jealous, pointing to Sean. Sean yell's back. I'll be
jealous of you when you can do this, and he
brushes his hair back, and Eli steps in with a
great line and says, hey, hey watch it's a.

Laugh that the end of the line.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
People knew should have been it because it was so
his response so great.

Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
Hey hey, so funny, so great, awesome. Corey turns to
mister Williams, telling him he's been inspired. He says he
wants to be entered into that news contest phoene.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Do we just the hair thing?

Speaker 4 (01:04:21):
Like I know that's the go to insult of all
of the things I can make fun of Corey for.
It's like it's so boy meets World that Sean goes
to the hair because he knows that that's Corey's weakness.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Just it's so clearly like Michael Jacob's thing.

Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
Right, people street people with hair they can touch. So uh.
Phoene walks up as he's saying this, telling him, I
don't think you're gonna have the time, mister Matthews. Corey
sighs and asks detention. Phoene responds, let's not call it detention.
I prefer hooked on. Phoeney hooke.

Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Don love that line. Great, God Bill bopped around. Bill
was in every storyline here. It wasn't just with Eric,
he wasn't. He was everywhere.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
He's important everywhere. He's the formidable dude, So you want
him everywhere. Corey and Sewn are sitting rows apart from
each other. When the bell rings. Corey says, excellent attention.
We'll have to do this again sometime. Phoeney tells him,
your reservations are confirmed for tomorrow. The boys walk out
and Sean asks Corey, you're really going down to the
trailer park, not that I care, and Corey says, yeah,
that's exactly where I'm going and walks away. Sean stops

(01:05:22):
him don't go those guys down there. They're hardcore. You
could get hurt. Corey tells him, I can take care
of myself, all right, And I thought, canny, though, where
is this confidence coming from? He was scared of the
eleven year old earlier, and he was corky, dorky and
all of those things, and now all of a sudden,
he's like totally confident.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Which again, I wish it was about duty. We should
this is the right thing, not just a winn a war.
But this is like right, I.

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Have to even if it means, even if it means
I end up hurt, I'm doing the right thing for
my community or something. Yes, that would make sense. So
Corey walks away and Sean punches the lockers in frustration.
Pheene watches this whole thing to mister Hunter, and.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
I hit that locker. I was like, writer, why did
you choose to do that?

Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
And I'm like, lovely, it was just cho Please don't
tell me I chose to do this.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
It's funny. So you hit the locker and mister mister
Phoene says, mister Hunter, this hitting thing, it's not nice.
Sean apologizes, I know, it's the way you talk to
a kid, nice hands, kind hands. Sean apologizes and says
he's just really frustrated. Miss Phoenie questions does that help,
and Sean says yeah. So Phoene hits the lockers in response,

(01:06:35):
and Bill gives the greatest reaction of his hand hurting.
And I love that he did it. He had to
do it toward camera, obviously so the audience can see it.
But I also love the idea that he doesn't want himself. Yes, exactly,
It's so funny. So Sean asks what'd you do that for?
And Phoene explains he's frustrated too. He's frustrated seeing two
young men throw away their friendship. And Sean says, the

(01:06:57):
way I see it, you don't need friends, especially friends
like him, which really really all these seasons of best
friendship and all the stuff he's done.

Speaker 3 (01:07:07):

And Sean says, family. Your family's always there for you,

a guy like you with no friends, you gotta know
I'm right, you know, I was.

Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Just thinking about what you're like.

Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
I think part of the problem here is that I'm
too reasonable, like like all of these things, like your family,
Like it should be more like Sean's grasping for reasons
to like explain why he's upset, not because I'm too
confident and reasonable. I'm too like, No, I care about
my family, and that is a bad friend.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
It should have been. It's that's on me.

Speaker 4 (01:07:47):
That performance should have been a little more erratic and
a little more emotional, like not emotional, and a more
like intensity level, but like a little more like Seawn
doesn't know what he's saying, like, yeah, he's sort of
talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
Well, And the truth is that you don't don't know
what you're saying, and because you're also trying to hide
something and so you're covering, you're covering for the secret,
which would help explain why you also don't realize how
crazy it is to hear yourself say out loud that
family is always there for you when both your mother
and your father have abandoned you and the only reason
you have a roof over your head or food on
your table is because of the Matthews and mister Turner,

(01:08:21):
like Sean has realized that like in other you know,
we've seen that land on Sean before, so you're right.
Had it been written or more clear.

Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
That you about the right, it's about my performance. I
think I could have performed it a little more heated
and a little more.

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Like classic cough.

Speaker 4 (01:08:36):
It's just too I'm too reasonable. I seem too together.
You know, I'm coming across two organized in my thinking.

Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
Well, the funniest thing to me about this entire thing is,
had this exact scene taken place a season prior, you
would have stormed off and the scene would have been
Phoene telling Corey about being your friend and having to
be there. But now it's completely shifted and they're getting
Corey away.

Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
And it's all about it. It's just it's the whole
balance is shifted.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
So Phoenie tells Sean he actually has very little family
in Philadelphia, and Sean asks, well, what do you do
on holidays and birthdays? Phoene says, I get together with
a small circle of close friends. We laugh, we reminisce,
we take pride in each other, pretty much what you've
always done with the Matthews and Sean says, yeah, but
it can't be the same as being with real family,
and Phoenie responds, you don't need to be blood to
be family. And I remember we talked about this recently

(01:09:37):
about whether or not that was actually a Feenie delivered
lesson of the show. We talked about it in our
live show. Somebody asked us what what our favorite Phoenie
lesson was, and that was the one I said, and
I said, I don't know that it came directly from Phoenie,
but it does. It does, it does correctly out of
his mouth, And I feel like the thing I love
the most about this lesson is if that I had
to take a giant step back and say, what would

(01:09:59):
I say? The overall theme of Boy Meets World is,
I think it is this, And on a micro level,
it's specifically this, Individuals choose their family, whether they are
related by blood or not, and then you take care
of each other no matter what. But on a macro level,
I feel like Boy Meets World was also speaking to
the idea that that's what we should do with humanity

(01:10:22):
in general. It shouldn't just be that we take care
of the people we choose. We all need to look
out for each other, and people in power need to
look out for the people who have less power and
make choices and decisions based on protecting and representing those people.
And that like that to me is just like it
gives me the he begbis that we can pinpoint it
to this one episode as being like, this is where it.

It's just junk. Eric snaps, junk. It's not junk. Eric says,
it's treasures. Treasures, I say, Alan says Lancersham and Sloan
is running a scam. How much are they going to

charge you to appraise this stuff? And Eric says sixty bucks,
But I already had seventy in my wallet, so it
looks like I've already made ten bucks. And I have
a question for you. Guys. This sounds like girl math.
So excited that will knows it? Okay, So writer, I'm
so excited to tell you about that. So there is

(01:11:53):
a popular trend going on right now, specifically on TikTok,
but also on Instagram, where in very overgeneralized ters it
talks about how girls think when it comes to money
and math. So, for example, if you have Yes, if
you have money preloaded on an app and then you
order something and you pay for it with that money

(01:12:14):
that's already in the app, it was free. It was
like you didn't even pay for it. If you buy
something and then in the future you return it, you
just made money. Or if you spend one hundred dollars
at a store and they give you a ten dollars
gift card for that store, you just made ten dollars. Now,
I know that this is not how all women think,
but it is very much how I think, and I

felt very seen.

Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
And it sounds like consumer that's how they get you.
It sounds like the manipulation of consumer. Yeah, and like
casinos can make you convert to chips, so then you
don't think of it as a real thing.

But it's not just that.

Also, isn't one of the other ones if you pay cash,
Oh yeah, it's great.

and you go and you spend one hundred dollars there,
you made five bucks because you had a five dollars

stops his hand away, saying this is his future they're
talking about, and Alan says, oh, look, Amy, his future
is macarony art, which I love macaroni art. Yeah, so
so cute you like macaroni art.

Speaker 2 (01:15:09):
I do.

Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
I make you My kids will make you stuff I
would wait to because wait to give you treasures.

Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
The glue makes it taste different when you boil it,
and it's just it's good.

Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
So then we're back at the trailer park. Corey is
hiding behind the bushes with his camera as a car
pulls up to one of the trailers. The group of
boys walk out and open the trunk. Corey sneaks closer
to them to get a better view, and Eddie says,
all right, now for a little magic. I know this
is a terrible journalist. What are you doing again?

Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
This is the same guy who took the who took
the janitor got janitor bud from three feet away.

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
I mean, it's what do you think he's gonna do.

Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
I know, he could have just done a little bit
of work here and gotten the same result, which is
Corey getting caught, without it being that Corey is also
just an idiot.

Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
He could sneeze exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
We could have established something that Corey, Yeah, Corey has
allergies with the trailer park to make that a joke.

Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
You're sacking at the dusk, So Dusty here, whatever, whatever, Okay.
So then Cory says, I gotta get a little closer.
I gotta get a little closer. No idea why you
would talk to himself out loud In this situation, we
are looking through the camera's POV as he walks over
to the next bush. He falls over. When we look up,
one of the boys is standing there smiling. Eddie grabs
Corey's shoulder and pulls him toward the group. He asks
what the heck is going on here? Corey panics and

(01:16:21):
says in an accent no speak. Eddie says, I remember you,
your Shan's friend. The eleven year old butts in, yeah,
and he was filming us. Eddie tells Corey, you have
no idea how much trouble you're in. Eddie yanks the
camera out of Corey's arms. He throws it to the ground.
He stomps on it, breaking it. Cory scolds him that
is the property of John Adams. Hi my friend, and
I'm going to need some names and addresses. Eddie laughs

(01:16:42):
and says, my name is your dead and I live
at the corner of fist and face. And you're right, writer,
this is just Danny dialogue. This was just Harley and
Stanky for Keno and Joey. They're at just copy paste.
Eddie punches Corey in the stomach and shoves him into
the ground. Eddie towers over him. In coming him. Coming
here was a big, big mistake, he repeats himself. There.

(01:17:03):
Corey tells him he's made his point. He should just
let let him go. Eddie pulls his arm back to
punch Corey again, but the eleven year old stops him,
saying maybe he's had enough.

Speaker 3 (01:17:12):
He gets he kind of gets punched in the stomach,
it's not even a full punch, thrown down to the ground,
and then They're like, maybe he's had that's enough, that's enough.
That's such a ninety sitcom, Like, you can't guy, he's.

Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
Never really corky. Dorky's never really been in a fight
other than with Sean just the seen before, so it's true.
And then Corey stands up saying, yeah, the little guy's right,
and the little guy yells, who you call him little
and kicks Corey in the shin. Corey hunches over in pain, saying,
which kind of stop thinking.

Speaker 4 (01:17:38):
I knowuard or something with a shin guard.

Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
It hurts, Yeah, kind of hurt. Yeah, it's like and
still getting hit, you can still feel it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
Yeah, Corey says, I got to stop thinking out loud,
And at least I appreciate it that they put in
that joke so that it kind of does a little
bit of a callback to him thinking out loud, which
is why he got caught. Yeah, it's I I I
at least appreciate that they didn't just pretend it didn't happen.
So Eddie says, I can't let you leave because I
can't trust you. Maybe I keep pounding your face into

(01:18:08):
the ground. Sean jumps down then from the top of
one of the trailers.

Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
Oh, it's so dramatic.

Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
A you know what, I love writer. I love that
there's some symmetry between jumping down from the tree house
in the Matthew's backyard and how it has the same
feeling but also totally different, the safety of jumping down
from the treehouse in your family's backyard to the danger

(01:18:37):
of jumping down off a trailer in the trailer park
to stop your friend from getting beat up.

Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
I liked it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
Because you were watching. You were going to make sure
Corey was safe. You weren't going to ruin Corey's story,
but if he did get caught, you were going to
be there.

Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
But you jumped down to like jump on somebody or
to surprise somebody, but instead I just kind of up.

Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
It's how we it in our show when you're going
to defend somebody, because I had to jump in between
Danny and Ben. So that's how you got to jump
into action on our show.

Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
That's what it is. You can walk up.

Speaker 1 (01:19:11):
That would be silly. Yeah, you have to be a
superhero exactly. Sean tells Eddie, you touch this guy again,
You've got me to deal with, and Eddie asks, so
you're going to take a swing at me. Sean says no,
he's gonna call the cops and let them figure it out.
Eddie nods and says police, you would do that to family,
and Sean says yeah. Corey asks what Eddie's talking about,
and Sean tells Corey just to stay out of it.
He confronts Eddie says he's serious, he'll turn him in.

(01:19:33):
Eddie says, come on, man, I'm your brother. Sean tells
him do it if I have to big reveal.

Speaker 2 (01:19:42):
I don't think this was worth it. Why is that
introducing a character we're never going to see again, which.

Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
By the way, Eddie should have stuck around like we
are Danny anymore, so we could use a bully character.
Sean has this complicated relationship with his family. Could have continued.
This guy is a good actor.

Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
I under why we didn't continue this because we have
forty two characters on the show. Now that's why. Yeah,
I guess. But you know Matt Lawrence comes in bringing
back your brother bring or bringing back a brother.

Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
Yeah, whenever they need to bring a new character on
after this, they just made him somehow related to Sean.

Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
Yeah, it was very strange.

Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
Well, and Eddie shakes his head like, you're so much
better than me. Sean responds, I'm on my way to
be and Eddie says, okay, go pretend play hero, but
you'll be back. This is who you are, and Sean pleads,
just get out of here. Eddie and his group leave.
Cory asks a brother. You have a brother. Sean clarifies
it's a half brother, and Corey says, well, what else
have you been hiding? A wife? You got kids? Sean's
palli tells them you have a pony. We don't know,

(01:20:40):
we know who's who about Susie Writersie. Susie was great.
She was You didn't like her because we never heard
about her. Yeah, so she couldn't stand back off. She
she bucked me off when I was like four. Now
we get to it hurt and.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
I remember being I mean, you know, I had a fear.

Speaker 1 (01:21:00):
You've blocked Susie and you got to get back up
on the.

Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
Every night I was in charge of you know.

Speaker 1 (01:21:07):
Sean says, I'm sorry they broke your camera. Corey smiles
and says they didn't get the tape. How did he
pull this magic trick?

Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
This is so annoying.

Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
Come on, watched him take the camera and then smash it.
No way, you can't eatject.

Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
The tape the way you can steal a wallet. You
have to actually hit a button. Wait for the worrying sound.
And the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
Could it be that when you picked it up and
it broke in half, that the tape was still in there?

Speaker 1 (01:21:31):
Was that after before this he's here to saved it.
It was like it is, It's just not it doesn't
make any sense. I don't like it, but we needed
he has to make the choice to not turn him in.
It can't be that I don't have the option. So
we needed it for storyline. But but Sean tells Corey,

(01:21:54):
mister Williams, you're right, was right, you're a pretty good reporter.
Corey hands the tape to Sean, saying take it. It's
your family. Sean pushes it away. No, you take it,
go win that contest, and Corey asks what about protecting
your family? And Sean looks at him and says, I
just did Eddie's only blood. You're my family, and this
is where writer, I'm the only one I take it.

(01:22:15):
But this moment had the same effect on me as
a Garfunkel montage for Corey and Topanga you cry. I
was teary and I was in I was willing to
buy it all. I was like, you know what, I'll
take the tape somehow magically being out of the thing.
I'll take all of this to get to this point
that Sean had to make a choice over who's really

(01:22:39):
worth protecting in this situation, And it's not just about
physical protection. It's actually about my brother who is a
criminal but is my blood versus my friend, my friend
who's a good person who's always been there for me.

Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
Want by the fact that Corey was making an ethical
choice based on what a crime is as opposed to
just wanting to get an award, it would.

Speaker 2 (01:23:03):
Have been helped.

Speaker 1 (01:23:04):
It would have helped.

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
And then I also just can't stand how sentimental my
performance is in this moment. Like what would have been
great is if Sean just sort of said I just
did and walked away, or like, you know, somehow you
don't have to like look Cory in the eyes and
say you blood. I mean it's just for me. It
was like, oh, come on.

Speaker 1 (01:23:21):
Like that I think could have been just a small
change in writing. I think I don't think it's about performance.
I think they could have edited ended it on I
just did, and we would have all understood without having
to reiterate the point that he got directly from Foeni,
which is there's blood and that's family, Like we got that.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
I blame my performance because I think you could delivered
the line like I just did. Yeah he's blood in
New York, you know, but your family and walked away
and would and then leaving Corey with like, yeah, oh
my god, what Sean just did. But instead like it's
me looking at him directly in the eyes, saying it,
almost crying him looking at me, Freeze frame.

Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
That's why I oh, never to let you walk away,
But just I agree there was where it just mumbled
it and picked up the camera never allowed.

Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
You too much better, But he never would allowed that
you got to look at him.

Speaker 2 (01:24:10):
You gotta tell you, I.

Speaker 1 (01:24:11):
Think walking away would have felt dismissive or like maybe
you were still mad at Corey.

Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
I actually think the free or could have been watching
my back receive and still had a sentimental smile to
himself and underseen it would have been so much better.

Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
There's maybe you had.

Speaker 1 (01:24:25):
Said that, and maybe if you had said that, I
just did, and then walked past him and patted him
on the arm so that there was a warmth exchange.
A I just did in a physical touch that could
have worked, But I'm telling you you can. You can
super critique because it's you I was in. I was like,
this to me, feels like although I had written all

(01:24:46):
my little criticisms throughout it, this payoff for me when
we revealed you had a brother and that was the
underlying angst you had been feeling and the thing you
weren't sure how to handle. All of that felt like
worthy and like a worthwhile roller coaster ride. I loved it.
So this to me was kind of where I had
my Corey's Bangagarfunkel montage moment for Corey.

Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
I was in the middle, in the middle by this point, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
All right, we're fine.

Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
It's very sitcom.

Speaker 3 (01:25:14):
It's just very ninety sitcom. And that if if that's
your thing, then it's great if you know we are
yeah right, that's what I mean. It's a ninety sitcom.
So it's you're gonna have that moment of you have
to take that moment of staring at each other at
the end in the freeze frame and all.

Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
I mean, that's what that's what it is. So but yeah,
a lot of it did, like the tape and all
that stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but you can't,
you know, Well then it was on an episode.

Speaker 1 (01:25:38):
You know exactly we had what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
I'm not worried for me. It's just a performance thing.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
Like I just I definitely feel my tendency to like
be so earnest to a fault, you know, to like,
if I have something to express to somebody as an actor,
to like deliver it. And I just think it's so
much more effective when the audience has to lean in
just a little bit, you know. And we could have
had it both ways where I you know, I just
I just don't I don't know if I would have

(01:26:04):
made the choice as an actor to play it a
little more, you know, off the side or off the cuff.
And I think I probably loved the drama of like
look at and I just think it's more interesting as
an actor to throw it away and would you know
it wouldn't be better.

Speaker 1 (01:26:20):
Well, yeah, I still loved it really truthfully, it did.
It did wrap it all up nicely for me, and
I liked it. But we're in the Matthew's kitchen. Eric
walks in, saying hi to his parents. Alan stands up

(01:26:40):
and says, so about the work you did in the
garage and the attic your mother being sensitive and the
guilty soul that she is, and Amy lightly pushes Alan,
telling him to stop. Amy tells Eric, we're going to
pay you for your work sixty bucks. Alan digs through
it through his wallet and asks Amy if she has
any change. He needs some twenties. Eric reaches into his
pocket and says, wait, let me see if I can
help you out. He's high so oh no, no, can

(01:27:01):
do only got hundreds, he laughs as he flips through
a wad of cash. Amy gasps, where did you get that?
Eric tells her from the scam house lankershem and sloans
one of those boxes had an old wooden mask. They
were so impressed. They gave me a few reasons why
I should sell it to him right on the spot,
and Alan asks how many reasons. Eric fans his money
and says four thousand reasons, and then Phoenie knocks on

(01:27:25):
the door and Eric shows off his four thousand dollars.
He exclaims, I'm a millionaire. I'm a millionaire millionaire. Peenie
nods and pat's Eric on the shoulder saying I'm sure
you are. Phoene walks over to Amy asking if she
remembers that box she was storing for him. Amy says, sure,
it was in the garage.

Speaker 4 (01:27:41):
Now can we talk about like this beet story is
perfect plotting, so great fact plotting. It's you introduced the
idea of garbage hunting that can take money with Feenie
and Eric, right, two characters that don't really have a
reason to have this, but you establish it great. Then
Eric has a scheme, right, which is are you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Going to make money off of the junk?

Speaker 4 (01:28:01):
And then he gets played by his parents by saying
you got to clean out the garage. Then he plays
them by actually making money.

Speaker 8 (01:28:08):
Making money, and then Phoenie comes. We think about the levels.
That is like reversal reversal, reversal, reversal. It's four reversals
and every single one of them makes just enough sense
that you're like, yes, and it's funny and oh, just
perfect sitcom riding perfect.

Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
Ye, it's a great piece story. It's a great piece story. Yeah,
it really is.

Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
Phoene responds, terrific. I'm on my way to the appraiser.
There's an old Kabooki mask in it. I'm curious to
see if I can make a few dollars off of it.
And then Eric very quickly holds out money, saying, how
about five hundred dollars. Alan looks at him and says Eric.
He gives Feenie all the money and says, just take it,
take it. Phoene smiles and says, I'm a millionaire. I'm
a millionaire.

Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
By the way, had rusty sweater too, the green one
he's wearing for years.

Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
You know what, I know that sweater from yours? I
remember that. Did you punch a hole in it and
wear it? Yeah? And wear my thumb than coach wardrobe left.
I knew it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
Yeah, I had that one to say, I knew it.

Speaker 1 (01:29:04):
