Speaker 1 (00:19):
Okay, So I had a little bit of a situation
last night. What do you mean that I wanted to
talk to you about? And good, it's a real sock
shoe sock shoe scenario, so I needed to discuss this.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
With you, important, life threatening.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Exactly.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
So you know, it's hot here in California. It's like
one hundred and ninety six degrees. It's awful and it
kind of zaps like you're your everything, You have no energy,
you're not hungry, you don't want to do it.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
So last night, Sue and I'm not hungry at all,
so we just looked at each other. It's like, let's
just make We'll make peanut butter and jelly at like
eight o'clock at night. It's not a problem.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
So halfway through my sandwich construct, I hear my beautiful
wife say, huh interesting, And I went, what's interesting?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Like peanut butter on one slice, jelly on the other.
Do you put them together? No?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I go, like a human jelly on one piece of bread,
peanut butter on the other, and you put it together
and make a sandwich.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
That's what I just said, right, No, But.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
She is like, no, peanut butter and jelly both go
on one side of the bread, and then you put
the dry second piece of bread on top. And I went,
that's inaccurate. You're a psychopath, And I said, and she went,
I think you'd be surprised how many people do peanut

(01:45):
butter and jelly on the same side and then put
the dry piece of bread on top. And I said, oh, contraire,
I think you'd be surprised at.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
How in the minority you are.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
And I just wanted to come to my two best
friends for some validation that I am in fact correct
in this situation.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I honestly have no idea how I make it. I
don't love peanut butt, butter and jelly. I don't right,
it doesn't do it, Okay, So I definitely have made
peanut butter and jellies, especially for Indie, but I cannot
remember what I do.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
There is no chance you put the jelly on top
of the peanut butter, thank you. There's just no chance
that I know two people that do that. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
It's put the jelly first. That would never work, right,
because then you would be putting peanut butter on it
would ever works.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Also, one of the reasons why it doesn't really work
to put the jelly on top of the peanut butter.
You can't get a proper ratio, thank you, or evenly spread.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
She said, oh, I'll bet you it'll be close to
fifty to fifty and I went, oh my god, it's
going to be ninety ten if that. And I just
wanted to make sure I was in fact that that's it.
I just I needed some sort of olt. It was
so she was so sure that it was like, oh no,
And I said, okay, babe. When we did Sock Shoe
Socks Show, I knew I was going to be in

(03:06):
the minority. I knew I was going to be one
of the few people that does Sockshoe Sock Show. You
are so confident that it's peanut butter and jelly on
the other on one.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Piece of bread, And understand why you need a blank
piece of bread? If you have two pieces of bread
and two ingredients, why keep one blank?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
I exactly what I said. I said, you've got two
canvases in front of you. Why are you only painting
on one?

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Are you going to make her listen to this episode?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
She doesn't even know I do a podcast.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I was gonna say so besides Jensen, husband of us.
All our spouses do not listen to our podcast.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Correct, No, actually, Sue, she likes the pre show chatter
and then she bows out yeah, and then she bows out.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Well, we will forward her the emails we get. Please
send us your emails. I don't want to know. If
you are normal and you do peanut butter on one
piece of jelly on the other, don't write me if
you do them on the same side. Yeah, the one person.
That's an email. You only want to hear from those people.
And and and if you could also answer, why are

(04:13):
you leaving a canvas blank?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
What?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
What?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
What is the thought process? I'm open to hearing. Maybe
I'm wrong. I'm not, but thank you for hearing.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Exactly what I said.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
I was like, Babe, I could be wrong. I'm one
hundred percent not, but I could be.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
What about people that use wheat bread for peanut butter
and jolly?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I grew up an exclusive wheat bread family. I didn't
even know there was bread.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
I don't I never understood why people like sandwiches. Then
you ask some whitebread, You're.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Like, oh, oh, this is a good candy.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Is so exactly now a fluffer nutter needs to be
on white bread.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
Oh okay, fluffer nutter needs to be on white bread.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
So that and again, yeah, we're not getting into We
won't get into creamy versus chunky.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
That's a personal thing.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
It's just how the sandwich is constructed.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I never My mom made grilled cheese sandwiches with whole
week bread, margarine, and cheddar cheese, and they were awful.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Yeah that sounds I remember.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Going over to a friend's house and made you know,
white bread with cheese, yes mayonnaise, and it was delicious,
and I was like, grilled cheeses are the best. So
then my mom started making me her I'm like, no.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
No, why why don't you love me?

Speaker 4 (05:32):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Welcome to Pod Meets World. I'm Daniel Fischel.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I'm right or strong, and I'm one hundred percent right.
I'm will for doubt.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Thank you for joining us for today's recap episode. It
is season five, episode fourteen, Heartbreak Corey. It originally aired
February sixth, nineteen ninety eight. The synopsis while on their
senior class ski trip, Corey sprains his ankle and meets
another woman. It was directed by William Russ his first episode.

(06:23):
It was written by Laura Olsen and Patty Carr, who
are two women we have talked about quite a bit
on this podcast, and remember very fondly before I jump
into our spectacular guest cast, do you guys want to
talk about your overall thoughts.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
I mean, this is a hugely famous episode, massive. Yeah,
I didn't really remember that much about it. I didn't either,
And then I I actually directed an episode of Girl
Meets World where they recreated this set.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yes, So then I.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Started having all these memories of making Girl Meets World
and using all these different areas of the set. So
I remember this set more than anything.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Wait, did they actually like they they went to the
same ski lodge in Girl Mates World?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah, and so, and the whole episode took place there,
and we had it was like a play. There was
like eight different storylines and everybody, and so it was
like we're in the bay window for a whole you know.
It was like everything took place in the basically the
main state, the main lodge set, and so we had
to create all and we had to bring in the
wall the same way that they did to see the
moon rise. You know, there's that like exterior shot that
was like outside the window. They brought that in. So

(07:29):
I was like sitting there going, oh yeah. So I
was totally looking at this as a director, I was
not you know, I don't remember being in the scenes.
I don't remember anything. But yeah, I thought it was fine.
I thought it was fun. It was a good episode. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
I had an interesting week because I got to watch
this completely as a fan.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Yeah, because obviously I never set foot in the set.
I'm not in it. I knew nothing about it.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
And I had kind of an epiphany watching this show
of like, I it was great when I just got
to it. I put this on like this was a mash,
this was a Cheers, this was a friends. Because I
had nothing to do with this, so I just got
to watch this as a fan and it was awesome.
You guys were all fantastic. The direction was good, the

(08:11):
set looked good. There's time Sue and I were yelling
at the screen. We paused to have a fight about
who's not fight, but like a discussion of who was
at fault. It was I mean, it was like, did
what television was supposed to do? I had twenty two
minutes of solid fun.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
It was awesome.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
I really liked the episode too. It's definitely lacking in
a little bit of comedy. It could have. It could
have used some will Fredell could have everything can Baby.
I know it would have been probably, but it was
definitely for shows where there's real, really no b storyline,
it's just kind of one story about one thing. I

(08:47):
never felt like we were in any of the sets
too like, in any of the scenes too long. I
felt like it moved really well. I thought I thought
it was I thought it was well acted. I thought
it was grounded. I thought Ben was incredible, great, gosh,
so good. I mean, Linda Cardelini unbelievable. It was so good.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
So as a person as the character, I've got some
things to say as Lauren.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Course, uh huh, she swooped right while, we'll get into it,
but she just I mean, brazen, no shame, no shame
in her game. H Yeah. Well, uh, let's jump into it.
Our guest star Linda Cardellini as Lauren here. She is
one of the most talked about characters in the history

(09:36):
of Boy Meets World and one of the best actresses
we got to work with. Cardolini started her career as
a fellow child actor on shows like Third Rock from
the Sun and step by Step, and appearing in movies
like Good Burger and Dead Man on Campus. But it
was her time as Lindsay Weir on the Star making
cult classic TV show Freaks and Geeks. That was her

(09:57):
breakout moment. Since then, you have seen her in Legally Blonde,
as Velma, in the Scooby Doo movies, Oscar winning films
like Broke Mac Mountain and Green Book, non Oscar winning
movies like Grandma's Boy and Daddy's Home, and as the
star of Netflix Is Dead to Me alongside Christina Applegate.
I loved that show.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Yeah. By the way, excuse me, Hi, she's also married
to Hawkeye.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Well, I was just gonna say. She's also in the
Marvel universe, appearing in Avengers Endgame and Hawkeye. And so
who is she married to? Who's Hawkeye? I mean in
Hawawk Guy, the character is I don't know who plays Hawkeye.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Oh, Hawkeye is Karremy Renner. Yeah, Jimmy Renner. Jimmy RENNERID no, no,
in the in the in the the movies.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Movies, they're married. She's Hawkeyes. She's Hawkeye's wife in the movies.
You don't know that Hawkeye's married. And then as the
as the Avengers are trying to escape Evil, they show
up at Hawkeye's house and she opens the door like
hey han and they're like, well you're married, and he's
got like a wife and kids.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
It was a cool, little, fun little storyline.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
And so Linda.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Carlini is married. Aye. Oh wow.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Not Jeremy Renner.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I was on Mad Men.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Never seen mad in my last I've only seen like
a couple episodes. I need to That's that's what I'll watch. Yeah. Uh,
she has truly never stopped working. And this is the
first of four Boy Meets World episodes she is listed
as appearing in.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
She did four episodes. I thought I was wondering when
I was like, was this it?

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Like? Did?

Speaker 2 (11:28):
I was like, she must come back? Yeah, working with them.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
I'm not sure how we get to four. I thought
there was one more. I thought there were two.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
But yeah, but maybe she gets crash.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
It's going to be that might be what it is.
Maybe there's flashbacks. All right, So let's jump into our recap.
We start in John Adams Hi. We get a rare
exterior zoom in on the front door, and uh. The
senior hallway is crowded with kids in winter clothes holding luggage,
and Feenie, who is absolutely exhibiting true drip with his

(12:01):
old weather outfit, makes an announcement, remember, even though this
ski trip is about having fun, we live in a
land of laws which must be obeyed. He looks at
Corey and Sean directly. I'll be watching you too. I
haven't really, we haven't really seen Corey and Sean as
like the trouble maker schemer kids in a while, so

(12:23):
I liked that. It was a nice little callback to
remind you of kind of who they are.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yep, and just immediately busting out like the plans for
the ski lodge.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Yeah, exactly, very season one.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Like I thought when you pulled out the pen, you
were actually gonna pull out an extendable.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
That that's what you're doing, Like, and we're gonna go here,
We're gonna go there.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
That's so funny. An unaffected Corey says it's his and
Shawn's first romantic weekend away with the girls, and the
school's picking up the tab. We see to Pinga and
Angela nearby, flirtatiously waving. Sean leads a paper out on
the table. It's the blueprints of the ski lodge they
are staying at, and it's time to get the land down.
Sean points out their room, the girls room, and Phoene's

(13:04):
room in between them.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
I mean, this is quite an amazing public school. Oh yeah,
they're able to go on a school field trip to
go skiing where they bust you to some mountain lodge
and you all get to stay in a lot. Like
that's amazing. That's like private school school stuff.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
That lodge. She's got a whole school staying there.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
How many levels of the tower are invited to the
school to the ski lodge.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I think it's right, just a senior fifteen trip.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Yeah, it's maybe it's even like you could see the
only Yeah, it could be teachers.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
No, yeah, yeah, it's got to be like I mean,
I actually did uh snowboarding as my PE requirement in college.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, and we did bowling.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah, okay, that's good. But maybe it's a pe.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Well, I mean, like we went hiking, like we had
a an outdoor club in high school and a public
high school, and there was fifteen or twenty of us
went and hiked Mount Washington and we camp tonight and like,
so we did stuff like that, but it was never
more than fifteen or twenty of us.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
I would imagine, yeah, say ski club, Okay, ski club.
I mean they definitely make it seem like this is
the senior trip, which you know is typically thought of
as being a trip for all the seniors, not just
the fifteen or twenty in a club. But I like
your thinking that it would help explain a little bit
of what we're doing.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
I wish there was a few more jokes about the
fact that Phoene teaches this class, like thanks a little bit,
more like a little bit. He's the ski instructor, he
teaches snowboarding, you take scuba, bungee jumping, you know whatever.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Soe Sean states, at precisely two am, you will sneak
from our room to Phoene's door to check for snoring.
Corey esques rhythmic are intermittent, A furious Sean yell's rhythmic.
I told you rhythmic. Am I alone in this? Then
I proceed to sneak over to the girls room and
I tell Angela that you're dreaming and calling out her name,
and guys, guess what we get here? An insert shot

(15:01):
of the map.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Frosty with an insert coming through.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
So we asked here it is our first one of
what seems like ages. We get the fingers moving on
the blueprints. According to their plan, Angela will then walk
back to the boys room to be with Sean, and
Corey will stay with Tapanga. He'll be keeping Topanga occupied
until Angela returns. Sean smirks. Many hours later, Corey wonders

(15:30):
if they should tell the girls about their top secret plans,
but Sean calls Corey naive for even suggesting a thing.
The women want to come to our room. They just
need some lame excuse, and we are just the guys
to give it to them. Corey excitedly blurts out, I
love skiing. Topega and Angela are still watching the boys
from afar to Pega asks you know what they're planning,
don't you. Angela says, yeah, the midnight switch. You gotta

(15:53):
love the effort this dude to Pega and Angela know
about this? Is this the thing they've read about in
their book?

Speaker 2 (16:02):
I was like, what's a midbeight switch? Like the typical?
But I also was like, why are you guys crouching
down it's the only crouching tiger this I have of
directed for this entire episode. I was like, why are
they just kind of like hanging out of the bottom
of the on the ground. It makes no sense? And
then you like stand up a little bit later, I'm like,
why did they Whats going on?

Speaker 1 (16:22):
Well, you know, one of the reasons why Trina was
sitting a lot and she's covering her stomach is she's
clearly pregnant in this episode.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Clearly pregnant in this episode.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Wonder if you know, when she's sitting on the couch
later she's got a pillow over and then when she
stands up you can see the baby bump.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
I mean, it's like she is clearly.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Very pregnant in this episode because she was really pregnant
during the Scream episode.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
So this is.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
Yes, I don't know if that had something to do
with it. Maybe I don't know, hmm.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Maybe that is. Maybe that does have something The crouching.
Don't crouching in this hallway scene for no reason.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
It's like you're like loading bags or something, but then
like start crouching. It's like, what's happened?

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Why are they there?

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Gosh? Okay, And yeah, when the minute she said the
midnight switch, and I was like, the ladies are just
all knowing. But like, as a teens, I remember thinking,
how are there no books for me to go to
to read about what I'm supposed to anticipate next? Like,
and yet they seem to have a book that very
much explains what the midnight switches? Yep uh so Topanga

(17:20):
even notices diagrams. Angela says the humane thing to do
would be to tell them they don't have a prayer.
Topanga agrees, but the fun thing to do is and
then she gives another cutesy wave and the boys wave back,
saying in Unison, we love you. She melodically replies, never gonna.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Happen, which Angela does not. I noticed that too, Why
because we say our thing in Unison, And yet I
think it's pretty additional that Angela doesn't doesn't.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Yeah, I think you're right. I think it was not.
They were not gonna they were not gonna have it
be that all ladies have a virginity promise.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Right, although although by the Scream episode, Sean is still
a virgin yes, because he says, I'll get the sickest
I can get without actually dying, so they're hooking up,
but no sex.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah we know the details, of course, a chart of
everybody who do you want to know? As opportunity this day,
it's my backstory in Boston.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
And then Phoenie's back. The bus is here. He reminds
them he doesn't want another incident like last year's fiasco
in the Amish Country, and then Corey wonders why the
entire class is looking at him. To Pango, Waltz is
up to Corey, someone's planning a romantic weekend. Huh, it's
a weekend without their parents. So Corey admits he's thought
about it. She smiles, she's thinking about it too. But

(18:55):
to Panga breaks it to him, it may be more
romantic if you talk to me about our plans instead
of Sean. Corey agrees and breaks it down. We'll start
by tipping the guy so he stops the ski lift
at around sunset, and then there's no one around to
keep you warm, except so.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Annoying for everybody else on the ski lift. But we're
all just gonna We're gonna force the ski lift to stop,
so we have a few other people in line, like
trying to go down the mountain. We tip this guy make.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
And everyone's totally fine with it. Nobody starts pitching a fit.
Nobody knows nothing.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Nobody's cold. There's aren't kids crying.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
It's all, well, there are people who are cold. It's
me and he's gonna keep me warm by kissing me
a big plan. Seductively reveal I get so cold, Yeah,
he asks, and what do you do? Topanga kisses him

(19:51):
and then asks the same question. I put you in
front of the fireplace, and we do some of this,
and drink some hot chocolate and do some of this.
Topanga is relieved. They like all of this same things.
Corey wants to never get up from the couch, but
to Pega wonders when they'll ski. Cory assures her they'll
have plenty of time to ski, considering they're going to
be together for the rest of their lives. Dundondom, Yeah, foreshadowing,

(20:15):
and then we get an optical flip. We're at the
ski lodge, most likely the home to some very hot
snow bunnies. We already know how hot skiing.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
I wondered where this exterior was, like this stock footage
of I was, like, I said, fail, where is.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
This that's sex Mountain, sex Mountain. Yeah, everybody knows.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
That teenage sex Mountain.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Teenage teenage sex Mountain.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
To Pega, Sean and the gang are carrying Corey through
the front door. He's whining about something being broken in
seven places and begging for fifty CC's of Saint Joseph's
chewable aspirin stat This opening is perfect. I love that
you don't see any other aspect of the ski trip

(21:05):
from the time they're at school, except for that Corey
has already broken something, and the fact that we just
jump right into it, like right off the bat. Let's
not waste any time setting the ski lodge. No, no,
I love it. I love openings like this. So Phoenie
and a pretty young hotel worker watch on. Worried, she says, boy,
those slopes can be treacherous. Phoeni corrects her, he fell

(21:26):
getting off the bus. She jokingly changes her tune. Those
buses are treacherous. The lodge clerk leans down and gently
touches Corey's ankle. I don't think anything's broken. It's probably
just a mild sprain. This is quite some doctoring that.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
By the way, if you've sprained your ankle. You don't like.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
It's bad for yeah, it can be. Yeah, I mean
like the.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Idea that he's like magically okay the next day.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Right, that's Corey, so he's a bit of a hypochondriac,
I would imagine.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah, I think Also, is it a sprain. I didn't
never see anybody look at it. I think a bruise.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Doctor snow bunny. Doctor snow bunny gave it a look.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Didn't even lift up the gene or down the pot
take off.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
So you don't need an MRIs.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Sit here and.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Exactly, oh my gosh. Corey begs her to embellish it
for his friends. She smiles, I'll have the doctor come
andmbellish it for you. My guess is you'll live. But
she won't ski. Sorry. Corey sighs, well, there goes our
senior ski weekend. To Panga tries to be optimistic. They
can sit inside while everyone else is playing in the

(22:35):
snow and having fun, lots of fun. Corey lobs the
idea that she can go ski and at lightning speed
to Banga quickly thinks him and runs off. Corey is defeated.
Sean would never leave him, and then right on cue
Sean passes by holding a snowboard. He aggressively jerks Corey's post.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Coy.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
So it is so fun, very funny. Two other boys
who can't speak or they'll be forced to join the
sag minimum rates stop and stare at Corey. He explains
it's a ski injury. He hit a little ice patch
on Devil's Run, and then the hotel worker reappears. Devil's
Run is actually closed this weekend, Corey continues, Then what

(23:18):
I did was insane. The girl finds him endearing. How
about some hot chocolate insane person? Corey would love to,
but he can't get up, no problem, she explains, it's
part of her job. Corey assumes it must be a
great place to work, but she says during the day
everyone's out on the hill, so it gets pretty quiet,
which is a very minor complaint. Yeah about your job, Well, yeah,

(23:42):
it's really good except during the day I have to
do my job, and so otherwise it's perfect. But I
don't know if you know this, but I have to
do it to do it, and while other people aren't
doing it.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Yeah, but it's really not that bad because it's quiet
and there's a fire and I'm just by myself, and
it's like, oh, it doesn't seem like the worst job ever,
Alerty Mcflergerson who starts right away, like right away, and
they and you walk in with Tipang, like Corey and
Topanga walk in together, there's no oh wait, you have
a girlfriend.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
It's like, you know, right off the bat, right.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
That snow Bunny knows that Corey and to Pang are
in a relationship and she's thirty right away.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
But is that any different than like Boy meets World logic,
It is always that, like you fall in love the
second you see somebody, I mean a lot of time.
Like she's like, I love Corey from the moment he
walks in, and then that's it. Like there's no you
don't question that. I mean that happens every time and
Boy meets.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
It is it was fast?

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean she does. She does say
pretty much right off the bat, I've been stuck with worse,
Like she's already you know, she's definitely making it clear
she's at least attracted to him.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah, she's interested right off the bat and wants him
to know that, as Tapanga has just gotten up off
the couch.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, crazy, really anti Lauren? Can I can feel it.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
I'm not anti Lauren. I'm not anti Lauren at all.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
To be honest, there's times and I think we see
this this plays out in a couple episodes down the line.
I could be wrong, but there's times I thought Lauren
and Corey seem like they were a pretty great damn.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Couple actually listened to each other. I'm not nagging one another,
I'm engaging. I was like, no, this is.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
Not anti at all, not anti anti.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
I don't think she's doing anything wrong. She's literally just
like alling in love with a guy which is.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Clearly in a relationship already, but she's jumping in. This
is where this versue and I were talking.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
She's she's going she's seeing a.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
Guy who clearly is in a long term relationship with
a girl instantly flirting with him even in front of her,
and then the second she walks out, jumps in and
tries to kind of take her place. So there, it's like,
you say, she doesn't do anything wrong. I disagree entirely.
I think that's very wrong.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
I would say that the only thing that she does
wrong is she kisses him like that to me is
like a boundary crossing right like that.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
So you you would say, you would say to Corey,
Corey and Lauren aren't doing anything wrong, staying up all
night talking getting to know each other the way they're getting.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
To do anything wrong? No, I think Corey, we should probably.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Go to bed, right like that's oh should of course
Corey should take himself.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
That's the one in the relationship.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
But for her, she knows that he's in a relationship.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
Okay, but it's not her fault that she's If you
like somebody, right, if you're attracted to somebody and you
find out they're in a relationship, that's not going to
turn off your attraction.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
But it should stop you from openly flirting and trying
to take your girlfriend or boyfriend's place.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
That's respecting somebody else's relationship.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
I guess it's just I guess that's why they have
to keep creating circumstances where they're stuck together. Right, So
it excuses both of them, I mean.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
Right, but they're not together. They're stuck together because they
want to be together. Corey can leave, she can leave
at any time. She goes behind the desk, he goes
back to his room. They've decided they've both made a
conscious choice to stay there and get to know each other. Well,
he's emotionally cheating on Tapanga at one point, and she
is intruding on somebody else's relationship.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
I think the difference is that one has like your
will is arguing that a little bit that she has
a responsibility not to pursue her attraction. I don't know
if I use that word has a responsibility. He has
a responsibility, is a responsibility respect So then there's like

(27:39):
a bit of it like, well she's not she doesn't
have to, so it's not a responsibility correct at all.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
So it's icky and wrang. Yeah, but it's a responsibility.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
But I also think that the part of the complication
of the episode is that they do like each other.
You get a lot I'm discovering that. I think for
Corey to be is kind of like a breath of
fresh air, like because his relationship is mostly criticizing each other,
like you know or yeah, or being told that he's

(28:10):
his desires for her are never going to happen like
I happen to La.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
It started.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
But I think that if you know, especially when you're young,
when you're a teenager, like, being in a relationship doesn't
necessarily mean you're married. You're not, you know, I mean.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
It doesn't, but that is that is.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Like the crazy logic mets world In real life, if
you go to a ski lodge and you meet somebody else,
and you've been dating somebody for a couple of months,
and you're when you're seventeen, when you're seventeen, the idea
of like, wait, I might actually like this person. Maybe
I need to get out of my relationship now because
this person makes me happier. That's totally fine to make
that realization, Oh, agree to. It's when she kisses him

(28:54):
and he lies about it that you're like, oh, yeah,
now you're definitely crossing you.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Know, until they kissed, you don't think any lines are
crossed on her end?

Speaker 2 (29:03):
No, not in interesting No, I think I think he
should have gone to bed, right, Like idea that he's like, oh,
I'm going to stay up because I want to keep talking.
But even that is still kind of innocent, because he
does just want to talk to her. They just want
to do puzzles, So it is, you know, it's not
like I'm going to stay up hoping to make out
with this girl. He's like, I'm going to stay up
to hang out with somebody who's really cool.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
So you think a line is only crossed when something
physical happens, there's no emotional.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Well you're talking about you're talking about only for her.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Yeah, well I'm actually talking about well, yeah, because Corey clearly, yeah,
he should have gone to bed.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
We're all agree.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Absolutely, But for her, you're saying, until she kisses him,
she hasn't crossed any line even though she knows he's
in a relationship at that age.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Yeah, I think if you were like married, like if
I was, you know, if I'm married and I go
on ski Lodge and I like literally, but like, no,
when you're seventeen and you're like meeting people and figuring
out what you who you are, and who you like,
I don't think that's necessarily an lines crossed, you know,
like until.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Yeah, I don't agree, but I respect your your opinion. Yeah,
I think there.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
I think especially they went out of their way to
show that Lauren knows Corey's in a long term relationship. Yeah,
Like they've specifically went out of their way to show
Corey into paying it together. When Lauren comes in and
Lauren essentially was like, don't care, still going.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
To do this?

Speaker 1 (30:23):
And to me, that's like, it's not she doesn't, like
I said, not her responsibility to make sure Corey is
faithful to his girlfriend. But there's an ickiness factor of like, oh,
you're just going after some other woman's guy, and it's
just kind of like h So, yeah, Like I had
friends that were like that, like I don't care if
she's in a relationship, but hey, there's no ring on
her finger, man, and it's just kind of like ew.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
So yeah, that's always how I was with that.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
I agree that that is mostly ew. I agree also
with writer that this age totally changes everything. And also
I think what my pushback because I would normally will
I'd be right there with you, but like, so much
more of the responsibility, so much more is on this Cory.

(31:07):
I get it that at a certain point, spending any
time talking about well, where did she cross a morality
line is a little like it doesn't matter because once
he did it, it did like done, and he is
the one who has the responsibility to his partner to
hold what he's promised.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
He has the responsibility. She's just a little icky, That's.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
How I look exactly exactly agreed. Yeah, not cool, not the.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Most respectful thing, you know, but no, this is all
I'm not trying to put it on her.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
This is all.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
This is Corey's fault. Yes, And at the same time.

Speaker 5 (31:41):
I really liked Corey and Lauren and she was so
great and they wrote her so well that you are
kind of like, this might be better for everyone involved.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
And we've talked about just chemistry. Yes, they have the two.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
That he so and we'll get into their specifics, specific
parts of this, but Ben as an actor and Corey
as a person in this episode seemed like an adult.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
Oh my gosh, I know you're right.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
And so it was with Lauren. He was adult Corey
and he was like, yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
Because he's allowed to be smarter and wittier, and like
all the Corey isms are played for positive like qualities,
you know, like she likes him, whereas whenever Corey is
being most Corey, it's annoying to Panga, you know. And
so and that of course is kind of works because
it's like they're in you know, you want conflict to

(32:39):
create any scene. So because they're this ongoing relationship, they've
created this dynamic where like he's such a guy and
she's such a woman and like, and they've fallen back
on those tropes, whereas with Lauren they don't have to,
because you know, the conflict is that they actually do
get along.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
It's just an interesting relationship.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Yeah it's yeah, it was yeah. Okay, So we are
back to that ski lodge scene where he said he
would get up but she complained about her job. Corey concludes,
I guess today you're stuck with me. She says she's
been stuck with worse and hands him the cup of
hot chocolate. She wonders if he plays backgammon, and Corey
proudly responds, my middle name is Backgammon. I thought we
could have used the punch there. Yeah, there maybe could

(33:17):
have been something funnier than my middle name is joke. Anyway,
one little is a won't urt any one. Then she
asks what his first name is, and Corey introduces himself.
She tells him her name is Lauren, and they give
each other a polite handshake and soft smiles before starting
one of the most infamous storylines in boy meets World history.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Oh you know what would have been great right off
the bat if he says, my middle name is Backgammon,
and she goes, really, and he goes, actually, my middle
name is whatever, and he goes, I can't believe I
told you that.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
I don't tell anybody that. Like told her what is instant?

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Like?

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yeah, like said is whatever? It is?

Speaker 1 (33:55):
Like you find it Cornelius at the end, Cornelius. Do
we know his middle name?

Speaker 3 (33:59):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Yeah, we so something like that would have been an
interesting like how why did I tell you that right away? Oh?

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Lauren breaking down those barriers.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
So we come back from a commercial, we get another,
We get an exterior of the snowy ski lodge. Corey
is still sitting on the couch next to Lauren. They're
huddled around the table. He laughs. We spent two hours
on a jigsaw puzzle and half the pieces are missing.
She says. You can still see the picture if you
use a little imagination. Cory jokes, Yeah, there's a curly
haired kid falling off a bus. Lauren adds, yeah, and

(34:30):
a cute mountain girl coming to his rescue. The audience
oooo at this obvious moment of flirtation.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
If she refers to herself as a cute mountain uh.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Huh, yeah, yeah, that's how that's how we think of ourselves.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
The boy meets world self consciousness. It's like, right there,
whoever would say that line? Uh huh, you know, get
right to the point acquisition self reflection so weird.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Then Tobago walk back into the lodge with the rest
of the field trip. Immediately Lauren darts back to her desk,
like how two teenagers pull apart when a parent walks
in the room. Topanga had so much fun she got
on the wrong lift and wound up doing six runs
with the Olympic team.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
That was one of my favorite jokes because again it
is every time to Panga is by herself, something amazing
happens in her life, Like when she came back that
last time, She's like, I was working with Now it's
gonna be a law and now so that was the great.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
It's like whenever she's.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Not near Corey, her life is phenomenal. Atick commercial.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Funny, that was great, Corey gives a week smile to Panga, adds,
but the best part is, I think I'm going to
be in a jack stick commercial. She unknowingly sits down
on the jigsaw puzzle and Corey fakes a good for
you to pega size. I'm sorry, you must be so bored.
She's gonna go get changed, and once she's back, they'll
spend the rest of the night together. She gives him

(35:55):
a peck before walking off. Now we know for sure
if there was any doubt before up, those two are
in a couple with the coast clear. Lauren makes her
way back over to Corey in the puzzle. She comments,
looks like you'll be in good hands. Then, as she
cleans up, she hands a piece of the unfinished puzzle
to Corey. Here, your own piece of the mountain. Keep

(36:15):
it as a souvenir. Sean is now behind Corey, witnessing
this exchange. As Lauren walks away, Corey stops her. Thanks,
it's been the best day with a mildly sprained ankle
I've ever had. She smiles and walks away. Now Sean
approaches Corey, Well somebody's got a crush. Corey gets defensive.
Lauren's being nice to me because it's her job. After today,

(36:36):
I'm not planning on spending any more time with her.
Sean asks, you don't think I know you better than anybody.
With that, Corey puts the puzzle piece in his chest
pocket and doesn't say a word. Ye I love this
so good, so good. Yeah that you just saw it all.
You know exactly what's happening. And you're writing that line

(36:58):
between I'm still your best friend and I'm here for
you and I want you to be able to talk
to me, but also I need you to know that
you are on shaky ground.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
Yeah, it's we also need a moment to talk about writer.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
How well you wear ski and snow clothes.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Yeah, I gotta be honest, I very rarely noticed it,
but even from the opening scene with the sweater you
add on in the boots, I think snow bunny man
bunny is your luck.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
Yeah, you're a man bunny.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Okay is that a rabbit?

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Maybe you're just a rab whatever it is, but it works,
it does you. You wear ski clothes very well.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Yeah, you wear winter clothes like the caps and boots
and oversized sweaters and all that.

Speaker 4 (37:41):
That's your that's your look.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
I've seen your your your like loading dock jacket whatever
those are called.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Those you wear those things all. It's very very good.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
Even notice it, like I need to be in cooler climates.
You do like rock in the snow gear just looks good.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Thanks.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
So then we're back at the ski lodge later that night, Corey,
to Angela, and Sean are all gathered in the common area,
giggling as they ask each other questions from a game book.
To Pang us up next with a question for Corey,
if you could change your mate into an animal, what
pet would it be? And why? Corey begs are nothing
fuzzy wuzzy to Panga, picks a falcon, because I want
you to be free to soar majestically as long as

(38:18):
I know that you'll always come back to me.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
By the way falcons, to train them, you have to
hood them, essentially declaw them, and train them to rely
on you for food and love. You literally have to
blind them with a hood to train a falcon to
come back to your arm.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
I was just thinking about that the whole time.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Is like, that's perfect for topeg perfect.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
Yeah, I don't. Yeah, I'm also this just feels what
this feels a stretch. This is quite a stretch your writers.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Being like, what animal can we pick that explains this
storyline perfectly?

Speaker 3 (38:54):
About Yeah, this this part felt a little but I
did love the setup and it's seeming almost like we
were we were all slap happy from being up late
and tired. But it also has the feel of like
if you were adults, there would have been three bottles
of wine exactly, you know, And and it gives it
that feel which is like already a little dangerous, like

(39:16):
already we're we're vulnerable.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
You're five hot chocolates in by this point, chocolates, Yeah,
so many.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
This is a funny scene.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
That's that's what always looking at you.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
I think it's right after the speak because he says
sore majestically. He's looking at you, and he is, you
guys have some in joke going.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
He is losing it. It is funny that. I what
I felt like when we were doing when I was
watching it, was that there's a memory attached to shooting
this and I don't have it.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
I don't either, but we were laughing at it so hard.
I remember loving the scene sitting there facing each other,
and I think it was we were allowed to be adults,
like there's something grown up about this team and like
I don't know, we were just all of our characters
and like the banter. I remember loving.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
This shows because it's great.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
You guys are all even with the laughing and fake laughing,
the mill between the two, and it just works. And
that's why I told you it was like watching an
episode of Friends for me, or watching an episode of Seinfeld.
It was good, comfortable actors in a place that I'd
never seen before. Ben I had no memory attached to
this episode whatsoever, and I got to just sit back
and watch you guys entertainment.

Speaker 4 (40:30):
It was great. It was really great.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Well, it's funny to think about how often on this show,
like outside of the living room in the kitchen, we're
in places where we're sort of like like we're in school,
We're in the hallway, it's like we're I guess Chubby's.
We're like there to eat and like relax. But it's
it's nice to see us just being sort of a
place without like an authority figure hovering over us or

(40:55):
like you know, we have to be there. It's like
we're choosing to hang out and like.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
Well, this is the start of the same vibe as
the student union.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
Yeah right, yeah, helpful. I think we needed the student
union this whole year because like the apartment is like
not quite there yet, Like, yeah, we need this location
where we can just sit and talk.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
Yeah right, yeah, like what we would think of as
a third place environment, not your home, not your work,
but the other the other part of your life. Where
do we see you doing that? Yeah? Well, Angela rolls
her eyes and tells Sean, if I ever get like that,
kill me. He nods, I would have to. Then to
Panga notices Lauren walking by, and she asks her to
join in on the fun. Corey looks panicked. No, Lauren's

(41:35):
probably got better things to do. Angela begs, or please
come join us. We could use someone whose answers aren't
so pukey to Penga glares at Angela, I could take you.
Angela threatens you don't want to dance with you.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
This is our like we've this is the third time. Now,
this is our writers love this joke, yes, and it's
just kind of this one just goes right back.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Okay, yep, No, we really like that line.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
You love that line.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Both girls grab pillows off the couch. Sean shouts, all right,
chick fight, move the table to Panga and Angela are
squaring up, but at the last second, they turned to
their boyfriends and start smacking them with the pillows, and.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
This is where I really noticed Trina.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
If you notice when she stands up, she's got and
then you can tell that there's a there's a noticeable
baby bump there, so you wouldn't have been able to
take her because she was fighting for two at that point.

Speaker 3 (42:24):
That's exactly right strength. So yeah. Lauren awkwardly stands there,
which I did feel bad for her.

Speaker 2 (42:32):
Here.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
I was like, this was weird. Ladies, please please come
play with us. We're not ready to start a pillow fight. Yeah, yeah,
it's this. This bumped me a little bit. Lauren awkwardly
stands there. You guys look comfortable enough without me to
Panga insists, as she's straddling Corey's leg. No, no, come on,
let's keep playing. You can ask the next question. Lauren

(42:52):
scoots her way onto the couch, uncomfortably sandwiching Corey between
her and to Panga, he asks, it's hot in here?
Is it just me? And continues to nervously ramble. Sean
wonders if maybe he's sitting too close to the fire.
Cory lets out a nervous laugh. Why would you say that.
I can't believe you said that. Lauren gets to the

(43:14):
question if you had an affair. Cory let's out a
loud screech, but Lauren continues, do you think the guilt
would change your behavior? Cory scoffs, Where do they come
up with that? I mean, that is such a crazy question.
Why would they ask me that question? Why me? Again?

Speaker 2 (43:34):
It is so weird, Like an affair is something you
have when you're married, Like, we're not married, we're kids.
Why would we even be asking this question? Why would
he even be thinking about it? You'd be like, it's
not an affair, it's dating.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
It's like right, right, you know, what the hell kind
of book is this?

Speaker 4 (43:51):
I know, what kind of trivia book are they?

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Like?

Speaker 4 (43:54):
What kind of questions are these? Who brought this?

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Old married people to like loosen up? And it's like,
what it's do? Let's just talk about stuff like they
just made out with each other.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
You know, like after your second cup of sanka at
a dinner party, do you and your wife like wait, what?

Speaker 4 (44:10):
Who wrote this?

Speaker 2 (44:13):
This is clearly our writers wrestling with middle age. Yes, yeah,
and you've seen the Corey Tapanga as this lens through
which to in question the morality.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
But it just doesn't make sense, like just break up.

Speaker 2 (44:27):
With the penga, dude, it's not that big of a deal,
Like you could just date somebody in the world.

Speaker 1 (44:32):
They've been married since age four by this point. Now
now we have officially gotten to they are together forever.

Speaker 4 (44:39):
This is not two high schoolers dating.

Speaker 2 (44:41):
This is all of our lives. It's and it's referendum
on love and morality. And it's like the is so
like hardcore about it. I mean, I know it's funny,
like it makes for funny scenes, but it doesn't really
make any sense. Like Sean like now I know that
this because in the screen up, so it's all about
Sean being upset about so he becomes obsessed with Corey

(45:04):
Topanga having to be together for the rest of the show.
And it's like, why why wouldn't Sean be like, dude,
you're much happier when you're not with me, or like
and he doesn't really have much invested with the bank
because like we've had no relationship, So it doesn't make
any sense except to have another voice of like you know.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
It's because is exactly it's supposed to mean that if
they break up, no one can be everything.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
In the universe, right, we talk about how do you
everything is in the universe tells them the shouldn't be together,
like the universe is make has moved her to another city,
the universe has given her a chapstick commercial she's got,
you know, like things like he says are great for radio,
I said you a radio thing. Everything aboutship. They shouldn't
be together because they're bad for each other. They hurt

(45:48):
each other's lives, they limit their options like yes, creak up, dude, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
I know, yeah, I know, And why why would Sean?
I mean, Sean also has spent the other fifty percent
of the time going the other way. Come on, man,
make up with this this twin with me?

Speaker 4 (46:03):
Yes, yes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
That would have been an interesting aspect of if I
don't know what happens in the next episode, but when
they address this, Sean kind of being the voice of you, you.

Speaker 2 (46:15):
Were happier when you're not with her.

Speaker 4 (46:17):
I mean that's kind of it would be interesting. No,
I don't think so either.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, because there's a big
difference between like go ahead, yeah, cheat on your girlfriend
versus maybe this isn't the relationship for you, right.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
Like why do we have very different doubling down on this,
like right. Yeah, you keep insisting that this is meant
to be.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
But why Yeah, because they wanted to spin off fifteen
or twenty years later.

Speaker 4 (46:42):
It's the only way it worked.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
Okay, everyone is going into it and completely unhinged, spiral.
This is the scene we're talking about where there's a
nice mix between all of us breaking and laughing real
and then us paint At this point, I mean, you're
just all just like happy for Everyone calms down and
Topang admits she's exhausted. Angela agrees until Sean she's going

(47:17):
to bed. Sean follows, I'm right behind you. I mean,
I'm going to my room, right, That's where I'm going.
Angela nods, and Sean tries to play it cool, right,
and I'll just be reading the Bible. She does ye,
and then the two disappear, and as Tapanga starts to
walk away, Corey stops her, wait, I'm not tired. Who

(47:38):
wants to see a movie? Panga's too tired, but Corey
can stay up, but not too late, because she wants
her falcon flying down the slopes with her tomorrow. She
also wishes Lauren a good night before walking off, and
now with just Corey and Laurene alone on the couch.
There's a moment of awkward silence before Corey announces he
should go to bed too. Lauren nods, I'm just gonna

(47:58):
sit here let the fire die down. She dims the
lights and continues and watch the moon rise over the mountain.
Corey admits it sounds nice. He's never done anything like
that before because he's from the city. He starts to
explain why, and Lauren finishes his sentence because of ambient light.
She was raised in the city too. She moved to
the mountains from New York at age thirteen, thinking she'd

(48:18):
hate the mountains, but now she couldn't live anywhere else.
Corey says he couldn't imagine living anywhere but the city
with its ambient light. He actually doesn't want to see
anything in the sky, but when she tells him to
look outside, he immediately does it. We hear some dramatic music.
Is the moon Moon by the Lie the simmery Moon?

(48:45):
I want to spoon with ma honeyac okay, okay, Lauren
looks right at him. You were distracted by the city lights.
Then Lauren notices the fires going out and asks if
she should throw in another log. Oh, Cory just stares
at her without giving a response. She takes that as
a yes, and a smiling Corey watches her stoke the fire.

(49:05):
Then we get an exterior shot showing the two of
them inside continuing to talk through a frosted window window.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
That they brought in to put the can in between
the cameras set. Yeah, it's one of the few times
we've had a fourth wall.

Speaker 1 (49:19):
Fl frosted window love what frosted window love FLW everybody
knows that.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
No, that would be frost w's w L.

Speaker 1 (49:28):
Yeah, that's frosted love. Windows are different, those are different.
We won't get into that on this podcast. I don't
want I don't want to know about that.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
No, that sounds like something I should not be a
part of. You should not, you should Then we're at
the ski Lodge at Sunrise. Cory and Lauren are now
sitting in a new location, the.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
Bay window, first bay window.

Speaker 1 (49:47):
I was just gonna say, that's so funny that you
said this was a Girl Mey World thing, because I
looked at Sue, I was like, Wow, this looks like
like it would be on Girl Mey World with the
bay window, and I can't believe they actually built it.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
I think probably the first time we used a bay window,
and then the became.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
A symbol of love.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Symbol of love and the bay window and all the girls.
But it was Yeah, I was like, oh, I wonder
if this is where Michael got it, Like, oh, yes.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
Oh I remember, I'm talking about it for sure. The
oh really, oh yeah no, this bay window was like
changed Michael's life.

Speaker 2 (50:18):
But because Corey and Lauren actually had chemistry and righting
the scene together and he was like, yes, so cose,
how can we just have more of that on our show? Maybe?

Speaker 4 (50:30):
Was there a bay window in the Boy Meets World
house anywhere?

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Technically?

Speaker 4 (50:35):
So there wasn't like a bench in front of the
window in the boy's bedroom when Sean climbs in. There's
not like something.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
There is that every window.

Speaker 4 (50:44):
We don't ever sit. We didn't do a scene there, Okay,
all right.

Speaker 3 (50:47):
M m yeah, okay, yeah, so that's it. Opinions to
be a bay bay window, Okay, it's a rule. Everyone knows.
It leaves good TV. So it appears they been up
all night. Corey's telling her about his skydiving experience, and
I loved that. It was a real callback, yeah, that
was great, the same thing, and she interrupts him. You

(51:10):
can jump out of a plane, but you can't get
off a bus.

Speaker 1 (51:12):
Funny, she's funny and smart. She knew about ambient light.
Like they're setting up that. She also knows some stuff and.

Speaker 4 (51:19):
Is yeah, yeah, very interesting.

Speaker 3 (51:22):
I'm an all right, she's supposed to be. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (51:25):
I think I would say a little older nights in
high school.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Yeah, so technically.

Speaker 3 (51:31):
You know, right, nineteen seventeen, breaking the well, just talking
all night.

Speaker 4 (51:36):
Yeah, that's talking.

Speaker 3 (51:38):
Wow, oh kissing. Yeah, I'm right, he's we're seventeen.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
Yeah, in senior year. Maybe we're eighteen at this point.

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Yeah, possibly possible. He laughs. I'm an ironic guy. Lauren
says she likes that, and she likes the way he's
really interested in what she's saying. Corey admits she's easy
to listen to. You're the most interesting, cute mountain girl
who's ever rescued me. She playfully edges in, see you
really listen to me. It's getting intense as Corey thanks
her for pointing out the natural beauty that's all around him,

(52:09):
and then we hear footsteps. Corey turns to see Phoene
grinning at him. How you doing, Oh I felt, I
felt agreed. Yes, it's so good. Ooh. A startled Corey
asks what Phoene's doing up so late, but Phoene corrects
him he is up with the sun ready to make
first tracks. Phoene makes his way to the stairs. But

(52:31):
I'm surprised to see you up this early, Corey, Lauren.
He nods and judges for sure. As he leaves, Corey
looks at his watch. It is in fact morning. He
tells Lauren, I had a nice time talking to you.
She responds, so did I. She pauses for a second
before admitting I like you, Corey. Corey says he likes

(52:52):
her too. She asks, but we can't do anything about that,
can we? Corey shakes his head.

Speaker 1 (52:57):
No.

Speaker 3 (52:58):
Lauren sighs and pulls the blanket off of herself. She
should probably get ready for work now. And does she
just work twenty four hours a day?

Speaker 1 (53:06):
I thought the same thing I said to Sue. I'm like,
this is a long shift. This is a very long
shift this poor girl has. I'm the only one who
works here, so I'm here twenty four to seven.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
I mean, she could have technically been off, and they
could have referenced that too, that she actually got off
at ten or whatever time whatever.

Speaker 2 (53:26):
I want her to be available all night, so she's there,
but she has like a room to sleep in, but
she just didn't sleep.

Speaker 1 (53:37):
I'd also like to point out, just to go back
very briefly to Bill coming in to mister Feene, this
is now the second or third episode in a row
where he calls him.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
Corey instead of mister math instead of mister Matthews.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
It hasn't been mister Matthews in a couple episodes now,
I noticed that before, which is because, yeah.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
Do we really think they called it? Did he always
mister Matthews before?

Speaker 4 (54:01):
I would say the vast majority of the time.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
Yeah. Yeah. It's like, as they are getting older, the
more respectful thing to do is to call them by
their first name.

Speaker 4 (54:10):
Why is human name?

Speaker 3 (54:11):
It's a human name, yes, exactly. So she quickly straightens
her pants and her shirt and announces, well, I'm ready.
Corey follows her. They can still be friends. She notices
his ankle is all better, and then we see Sean
now on the second floor, looking down on the situation. Unnoticed.
Lauren asks Corey, so I guess you'll be skiing today.
Corey nods, yeah, that's what I came up here for.

(54:33):
Lauren says, yeah, I mean, you wouldn't want to stay
inside on your last day. She tells him to have
fun and reminds him not to get hurt, and she
makes her way toward the reception desk. Sean quickly rushes
down the stairs. All night. Corey insists nothing happened, they
were just talking. Sean asks again all night, then to
pang An. Angela enter and to pang is happy to

(54:54):
see Corey. She asks how his ankle's feeling. Corey says,
it's confused. It's bothering me, and it's not bothering me.
I don't know what I should do. The Penga says,
if it's bothering him at all, he should stay off
of it. Corey looks over at Lauren, who has begun
her work day, and declares, yeah, it's bothering me. Sean's
face is etched with worry as he knows the truth

(55:16):
behind Corey's decision, and.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
Topanga, who notices everything, doesn't notice that he's in the
same clothes.

Speaker 4 (55:22):
No, no, but obviously been up all night.

Speaker 1 (55:25):
I mean it's like pretty obvious that he's been up
all night, wouldn't she say, didn't you.

Speaker 3 (55:28):
Go to bed? Well, if she doesn't recognize what he's
wearing immediately, she could think he's up before the day
early like she is too. But also, I don't know
that Tapanga would necessarily have said anything to Pega's so
not jealous. I mean, yeah, you know, she later brings
up the whole conversation like you're allowed to talk to

(55:50):
other people.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
Yeah, you're allowed to them.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
Interesting, And she doesn't really ever say and you can
stay up all night, but she does kind of understand
I trust you, so ring Yeah, and you know, if
someone's going to break your trust, like you telling him
don't do it, is not probably not going to stop
him anyway, exactly. So then we are at this in
the ski lodge and it is daytime. Cory is back

(56:13):
on the couch with his leg elevated. Sn storms down
the stairs. I saw you with Lauren. Your ankle's fine.
You lied to Topanga. Very famous, uh, very famous. Sean
Lyne just very famous. Corey is shocked. All we did
was talk. Sean questions him, no kissy, Corey answers, just
Talkie he doesn't feel the need to tell Topanga because

(56:33):
it's not going to turn into anything. Sean asks, If
it's not going to turn into anything, then how come
you lied about your ankle. Corey explains, I've been with
Tapanga forever. I don't want to have feelings for another girl.
I can't have feelings for another girl.

Speaker 2 (56:46):
Why god, I know what? Why is this sentence, I
can't have feelings for another girl? Why not?

Speaker 4 (56:53):
Because it means he's a lie.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
Of course you can, but isn't that like why is
this logic reinforced by the show? Like that is that
is an insane thing to say I can't have feelings.
Yes you can't, you absolutely can't, And like why not
why not listen to those feelings? Why not act on them?
Like you can act on these feelings very responsibly and say,
you know what, maybe I don't need to be so

(57:15):
serious about my relationship, and maybe I should explore other
people or get to have friends that are roles. Maybe
maybe Lauren and I don't have any romantic things, but
she's just going to become my new best friend. Who knows?
But I can't have feelings? Come on, that's so weird.
It's weird.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
It really is, for sure, just an adult storyline that
was put into the show and then and just said,
and it'll work because you have relationships as a teenager too,
and it's as if no one ever pushed back. But like,
it doesn't have to be the same. That's why marriage
is different than just a dating relationship, and it is
why we don't allow miners to get married, right, so

(57:52):
you know.

Speaker 4 (57:53):
It depends on the state. But anyway.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
The also, the thing we've talked about several times that
I think we have to remember, which we've said in
certain episodes, is that we had certain writers, certain producers
that were going through things in their personal life that
they were putting on the show. Yeah, that were when
you're forty five and going through it. It's different than

(58:16):
when you're seventeen, but they're going to write it as
if they were said, life.

Speaker 2 (58:20):
Crisis, Corey, I've married, I want to play the field exactly,
And it's like, yeah, to shoehorn that into a an
eighteen year old's life is pretty intense.

Speaker 3 (58:29):
Yeah, yeah, yes, and to not reference, not to acknowledge
in any way that it's completely different. Just it's like,
there really are a lot of storylines you can take
from an adult life and say, well, what's the kid
version of that? This was just the problem was it
didn't go through that what's the kid version of it? Filter?
It was just a direct copy paste. And then the

(58:50):
argument is, well, but so why can't you get feelings
because he's made a commitment to Topanga and they're supposed
to be together. It's like the answer just doesn't So there.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
You think this is also a great opportunity to kind
of have somebody come in and teach Corey or he
learns himself or something Phoene Sean whoever where. It's like,
you don't choose who you get feelings for, you choose
how you.

Speaker 4 (59:13):
Act on those feelings exactly. So you deciding to cheat
on somebody is bad.

Speaker 1 (59:19):
You having feelings for somebody else might be a natural thing,
but you go, no, I've made a commitment to somebody else.

Speaker 4 (59:24):
I'm not going to act on those feelings.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
But the feelings are right, feelings are going to happen, Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (59:31):
And the feelings are worth than saying listen to Panga.
I need to talk to you. I have been experiencing
feelings for somebody else, and I think that if that,
if our relationship was as solid as I think it is,
I wouldn't necessarily be having those feelings, So I should
perhaps go explore those yealings.

Speaker 2 (59:50):
Or what you realize often I think is that those
feelings are because they're novel, you know. Yeah, person, And
when you actually, if you actually spend time with Lauren,
he would be like, oh, actually we don't get along that.

Speaker 4 (01:00:01):
You know, it's not Wait a second, it couldn't. Isn't
this what happened?

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
Isn't there an episode that comes up where Tapega says,
if you're having these feelings, you need to go explore them.

Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
Yeah, And then he does and then she breaks up
with them.

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Isn't this sorry? Sorry Nanga going on a date?

Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
I mean, I guess you play this out because I
think they do do that.

Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
I think I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
Yes, But the idea you're right rider, where it's like
you can't have these feelings is crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
Yeah. Yeah, So Sean pats him on the back. Sure
she will, Everything's fine. He begins to walk away, but
dramatically turns back to Corey. Read the Bible is such
a great read. I read the Bible and I and
it comes.

Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
To like the fact that because I'm wearing the hat
and it's like, I don't know, there's just something so like, yeah,
it's funny, it's.

Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
It's but it also has shown in that one joke
that you haven't had any chance to hook up with Angela.
Why you've been there and you've literally been reading the Bible? Yes, yeah,
spread my misery around.

Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
Yeah, I can't be happy.

Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
So yeah, well I loved that. So we're still at
the ski lodge. A little later, Lauren has just finished
helping a guest and Corey walks down the stairs with
no limp and rings the bell on the hotel counter.

(01:01:31):
She jokingly gives him a little salute. Yes, sir, how
can I help you? Corey blurts out, I don't want
to have feelings for another girl. She smiles, neither do I.
Why aren't you skiing? Corey reiterates his concern. I can't
have feelings for another girl. You understand that, right, She nods.
I understand it and I respect it. Why aren't you skiing?
Corey explains, I need to make sure we understand that

(01:01:53):
last night didn't mean anything. Lauren asks if Tapanga knows
he's here and Corey admits, no, I told her my
ankle was still sore. Lauren asks, so you lied to
your girlfriend because last night didn't mean anything. Corey corrects her.
I lied to my girlfriend because I don't want to
hurt her, and I don't know what last night meant.
Lauren says, you know, in that game, they ask if

(01:02:14):
you could describe your perfect mate, who would it be. Well,
I've always known the answer. Corey shakes his head. Don't
do this, she laughs with the audience. It wasn't you,
Lauren explains. I'm trying to say I wasn't expecting you,
but sometimes people take you by surprise. Then she leans
in and kisses him. She does like ninety five percent

(01:02:34):
of the work, but Corey doesn't pull away and he
definitely kisses back.

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Yeah, now, did you guys this is a complete echo
of Topanga at the locker. It's like almost identical face
on Ben's bence. Is it really it's an aggressive woman
kissing him? You know? In that case, he's literally handcuffed
and pinned against the locker. She's like moving in, and
here it is Laura moving in just like Topanga did.

(01:03:02):
And the look on his face of like what just happened,
and like her turning away, I was like, oh my god,
this is like, you know, very I think it's very
intentional that hunt again he's at the mercy of an
aggressive woman and he he's going to be insourceful.

Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
It also happens in the in the closet, in the
makeout scene where the other girl kisses him. He makes
that he's it's the same. Corey's eyes are bulging out
of his head. He's speechless for a second, then finally
puts some words together. Good, I'm glad we cleared this up,
and then he walks away. Now, how many times would

(01:03:36):
you say at this point Corey has cheated on Too Panga.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Yeah, it's pretty immediate, Like the second second they're together,
he gets tempted.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
Right, and when they're together and seemingly happy, like, yeah,
the latter we've we've we had seen a couple episodes
that have been really nice where you got to see
Corey and Too Panga in kahoots with each other about
you know, when we knew about the Angela purse stuff,
the super Bowl episode that like that. There have been

(01:04:08):
so many great times where it looks like things are
in a good group they actually loved each other. Yeah,
all of a sudden, a woman has puts herself in
a situation with Corey where Corey is like mostly innocent
but not just so, Now do we like that? It's

(01:04:29):
just that it's a little bit more of a gray
area or would you have preferred it?

Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
Well, it's not whatever her name was at Beach State,
where Corey is clearly uncomfortable trying to get away from her,
like not going to but still.

Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
Not walking out of the room.

Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
Yeah, And we've also established that in every kind of
fantasy the second Corey can be with a different woman
he is. I mean, we did it in the nineteen
forties episode, We've did it in a bunch of different
ones where it's so they've kind of established this, like
anytime Corey can get away with being with another woman,

(01:05:11):
whether it's physically or just emotionally, he takes the opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
It seems like that anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:05:17):
Well, the world is just full of aggressive, aggressive women
who love.

Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
And he's just navigating the mind fields.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Like everybody's yeah, I want you, Corey, and you're gonna
I'm gonna take you.

Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
He's always like, oh no, I.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
Don't want that.

Speaker 4 (01:05:34):
But maybe I do, it's right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
How many times does a guy find themselves a situation
where women are literally getting naked and throwing them.

Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Throwing themselves out of yeah yeah, so yeah they've Well again,
it's the universe. Do you have to earn the relationship
with Pang? You have to get through all this.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
To require sacrifice and.

Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
Visery even though outside of that relationship, women are throwing themselves,
rowing themselves every time you leave the house.

Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Anywhere you go, from the bunnies to the beechees.

Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
Themselves, jacket girls, the leather jacket girls, that they're all
tempt Yeah. I question to Panga's pure right, like she's
the one withholding.

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
The viginita and why he has to have her?

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
Yeah. So the question then becomes, when is it emotional
cheating for Corey? Forget Lauren, for Corey, when is he
When do you think he's crossed the line?

Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:06:33):
This is okay?

Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
Is a lie?

Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
You think it's itself?

Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Because if he said to Tapanga, you know what, I'm
not gonna ski, I'd rather just hang out and talk
to Lauren.

Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
Talk to Lauren all that, right, he probably wouldn't have crossed.

Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
She would be like okay, but instead he says, O, no,
my ankle so he can stay and then right, and
that's why Lauren kiss him, because she's like, oh you
your girlfriend for me, he does the first betrayal, so
then she's willing to take you know, Okay, that makes
sense to me.

Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
There's a part of me that feels like the staying
up all night is really the first the first time.
I'm like, but I will say. The idea that he
is surprised by it, that he's like, oh my gosh,
it's already mourning makes me think three hours went by
and in his mind it was maybe only still eleven

(01:07:21):
and you know, so right and again, teenagers, the teenagers
you want to sit in a lodge and never make
a physical move on somebody and just talk to somebody interesting. Truthfully,
that's exactly what you probably should be doing to as
many different people as possible, having those kinds of conversations
and figuring out where your attraction is. Like, that's truthfully

(01:07:42):
the best. That's what dating is for. To figure out
who you want and who you like and who you
are around them, and you know, and figuring out what
about what crossing your boundaries are all of that is
what you're supposed to be doing. So I agree that
it's the lie.

Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
I think a good rule of thumb is, how would
you feel if your partner did exactly the same thing
to you? Yeah, so you reverse the situation and then go, eh,
I wouldn't like it if you know, now, me isn't
a married man. If my wife stayed up all night
and talked to some dude totally all night long at it, okay,
wouldn't be comfortable with that. So I'm not going to
stay up all night and talk to a woman at SKU.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:08:21):
That's kind of where I would put it in.

Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
Again, though it depends on the woman you're talking to
or the you know, Yeah, I don't know. There's a
lot of I mean, there's a lot of gray areas.
What kind of relationship do you have with this person before?

Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
He?

Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Before?

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
Is the other person in a relationship like that, it
wouldn't seem more like platonic like yeah, exactly all night
and you know, yeah, who knows.

Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
So it's the ski Lodge nighttime. Sean is shocked at
Corey you kissed her. Corey doesn't know what to do.
Sean tells him what he's not going to do. He
is not going to tell Ta Beannga. I know women.
She'll forgive you for talking to Laurence. She'll even forgive
you for lying to her because you never have before.
But she he will never ever forgive you for kissing
another girl. Corey siys, I want this whole thing to

(01:09:05):
never have happened. Right then to Pega, excitedly walks up
to the boys. Cory says hi, but can't bring himself
to look at her. Tapanga notices he's back on his feet.
She wants to go ski a few rounds with him
before they close the ski lifts. Corey says they need
to talk. He walks her over to the couch and
he sits her down. Honesty is the most important thing
in a relationship, and you mean everything to me. I
lied about my ankle today so I could stay at

(01:09:27):
the lodge. I met an interesting person that I liked
talking to Lauren. Great. This is very honest, very mature
and honest. Ye for a teenager. To Penga is shocked.
You lied to me so you could spend time with
another girl. Corey goes on to admit that they spent
the entire night talking too and then this morning he

(01:09:48):
told her it didn't mean anything. To peg is angry
you lied to me. Corey responds, I'm sorry. I'd rather
break my ankle into fifty thousand pieces than cause you pain.
To Pega's jaw is still on the floor, Corey asherz
er he will never lie to her again. To Pega explains,
it's okay for you to talk to an interesting person,
but it's not okay that you lied to me. He agrees,

(01:10:09):
I shouldn't lie to someone I love more than anything.
And I kind of I liked that line, mostly because
I really do think it is Corey recognizing that he
shouldn't want to lie to her. If he really loved
her as much as he thought he did, and this

(01:10:29):
relationship really was as perfect for him, he wouldn't want
to have done that. And so to me, it plays
both ways. It's just interesting that it never that never
plays out. That's not actually he never looks at it
and goes, maybe this relationship does need some time. He
doubles down on it the other way. And yet this line,

(01:10:53):
the way it's written and the way it was delivered,
tells you I shouldn't want to lie to to someone
I don't know. They just played so easily to so
obviously to me that he's realizing that means something else too. Yeah,
And it's such a bummer that it never, as far
as I know, it never really gets that part doesn't

(01:11:14):
get addressed, certainly not by him. Ta Pega hugs him,
she loves him too. As they're hugging, we see Sean
giving him a thumbs up, mouthing oh yeah, and then
to Panga asks if anything else happened between him and Lauren.
Corey goes blank now and Sean is giving him a
thumbs down, mouthing no, this.

Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
You were very funny.

Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
It was because it was big and cartoony and really
just funny with a great counterpoint to what was happening
in the.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Foreground, exactly taking thirty seconds looking over her shoulder, turning.

Speaker 3 (01:11:47):
Her body, so funny. To Pega repeats her question, did
anything else happen between you two? Sean is now aggressively
shaking his head no. Forry finally responds nothing. She's relieved
and she gives him another hug. We see Corey's face
and Sean's are riddled with guilt, and then we are

(01:12:09):
at the ski lodge check out.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
The story question?

Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
Ye, moral question.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
Had he said to her she kissed me, but I
didn't kiss back?

Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
Yes, what do you think would have happened? Would they?

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
Would she have broken up with him? But he's honest
about it. And again, he didn't kiss her. He didn't
pull away, he didn't back away. He certainly like you
said ninety five to five, but he didn't kiss her.
He didn't try to initiate. And if he just told her,
do you think everything would have been?

Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
I mean, because that's him saying, I don't want to
pursue like she kissed me, and I realized that it
had crossed the line. So I'm not going you know,
So I'm telling you the truth of what happened, and
now we can move on in And.

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
It had just happened too, right, wasn't this Yeah, ten
minutes before this booke okay, So it wasn't like three
days later he was going to tell her. So had
he just said she kissed me, I should have pulled away.

Speaker 4 (01:13:02):
I didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
It lasted two seconds. I realized I didn't want it,
and I'm telling you about it now. Everything's probably good.
So honestly, the best policy is what we're essentially.

Speaker 3 (01:13:08):
Saying, I think Tega would have broke up with him.

Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Really, you think I do?

Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
I think she would have. I think I think even
if she realized later, I may have had an overreaction.
I think I think her reaction would not have been, oh, well,
thank you for telling me the truth. I think she's
really hurt about the lie, and I think he lied
and he kissed her like n I think Tmega's saying, well,

(01:13:34):
you're on your own, Corey Matthews and Corey backgamm and Matthews.

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
What happens? Right?

Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
Answer? Yes, I think so. Yeah. So we're at the
ski lodge check out. The students are all leaving the lodge,
bags in hand. Lauren is at the desk because she
never leaves. She shouts to his classmates, tell your friends
about the mounts On Lodge. She turns to Corey and cringes,
they made me say that. Corey smiles, It was nice
meeting you, Lauren. She admits, I don't want to cause
any trouble between you and your girlfriend. Corey interrupts her.

(01:14:02):
You don't have to apologize, she says, I wasn't going
to you ran off before we could talk. I said,
I like you and I meant it. I don't want
to ignore that. She grabs a letter from the desk.
It's all in this letter. I hope you read it.
She slides it into a pocket in his Duffel bag.
Sean walks up and asks Scry if he's ready. Corey
then walks away and we sit for a beat as

(01:14:23):
she watches him go. And then Angela and Sean make
their way to the bus, giving Corey into pegas some privacy.
Corey asks, can I sit next to you on the bus?
To Pega smiles you better. He says, let's talk all
the way home. Okay. She nods, I'd love that, and
then he's going to go put all of their stuff
on the bus. But as he picks up the luggage,
he accidentally ross it.

Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
Was a little little convenient. This is beat slightly convenient,
but it wor.

Speaker 3 (01:14:52):
The Duffel rolls onto its side. He picks it up
and walks away without noticing one fatal mistake. Lauren's letter
has fallen out of his bag and onto the ground.
We see Topanga pick it up, and sad music begins
to play, while digital looking snow falls to the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
Mostly just on her, while not so much on either
side of.

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Her correct very weird. Yeah, I think there was digital
snow it was.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
No, I think it was just because you know, some
of this the chunks were this big.

Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
Oh yeah, the big literally the flakes were huge.

Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
But at least at this point it wasn't asbestos.

Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
Which is good. And so we end on that cliffhanger.
No tag. I think that's the first time ever.

Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
They just want to get you and you on the
the Oh my god, what's going on here?

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
It's a short Yeah. We always went as long as
we could, but they clearly were like, Nope, we don't
want to make a joke. We just want to leave
that that cliffhanger.

Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
That cliffhanger finds the letter.

Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Say it with food, say it with drink, but for
the love of God, never say it with ink. It's
a good thing, that good thing to talk about.

Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
