Speaker 1 (00:00):
Pretty, so, ladies and gents, welcome back too, pretty messed
up dancing with myself. It is week three in the

(00:24):
competition of Dancing with the Stars, and I am dancing
in my living room. Who knew? Who knew? This may
only be audio, but who knew. I'm just still gonna
give you a torque because you never know who's gonna
see this on YouTube. But my whole house, meaning the
upper floor, turned into a production room, and I've got
lots of lights, lots of succulents, and lots of pictures

(00:48):
of my partner, and I like as if I have
a shrine built here. But anyways, cut to Unfortunately, my
partner got covid um and he found out later when
he was in New York, and that basically for sure,
I thought for those two days after I found out
that we were going to have to be disqualified, that

(01:09):
we were not to be eliminated. But we were able
to find another, I guess, way of still staying into
the competition by dancing in our living rooms, changing our
dance style from chacha to jazz and dancing to Brittany Night,
which has been my partner's dream. Cody Rigsby's dream since
he was a little boy. So there you have it.

(01:31):
But I have to say I felt really weird being
dressed up in a really skimpy costume with black fishnets
on right here in my living room, and also being
the set designer and the sound person and the hair
and makeup girl who just learned how to put clip
in extensions for the first time. Um, and I don't know.

(01:53):
I feel like we kind we kind of got screwed
by the judges. I think we got all sixes. We haven't.
We basically have only gotten six sistance we started dancing
with the stars, which is fine, I get it, But
I think what I was looking for was a little
bit of acknowledgement of what we did in order for
this to make to make this whole production work right,
Like you don't have to talk about us getting COVID,

(02:14):
We get it, like we're sick. But at the end
of the day, just the amount of I guess work,
and like having to dance as two soloists as opposed
to dancing together when you can manipulate your partner's body
movement and the musicality, but with having to dance side
by side, you got to give the celebrity extra credit
for that, right, I don't know. It was a little bit,

(02:35):
you know, it was a little anticlimactic. I guess. We
also started late in the week. We started on Thursday
as supposed to Tuesday, so all the other couples had
more time, and we did it via zoom. So as
far as what does our fate look like for next week?
Are we gonna be back in the ballroom? Well, first
of all, I just want to thank all the fans

(02:55):
for voting for us, the fact that we were not
even in the bottom too, even though we were at
the bottom of the leader ward, So grateful. Thank you guys.
We're gonna need all the votes. Um, but honestly, he
deserved at least a seven. I mean, we were in
sync as if we were a part of the band. Okay, Um,
now I'm cracking jokes, which means I'm really tired, so
to bear with me. Okay, So what were the gonna say? Oh?

(03:17):
Next week? Okay, so next week we don't know yet. So, um,
we don't know because we need to still finish out
the quarantine period, which I can't give an exact day.
All I know is that my partner is in New York.
I live in Los Angeles, so we're gonna have to
continue to zoom. We've got two dances, you guys, not one.
Two dances for Disney Week or nights Monday Tuesday Live show,

(03:41):
which means that we don't start rehearsing most likely till Friday.
You do the math, We're screwed. So we're gonna need
your votes please and um yeah it's gonna be a
good one. Maybe I don't know. Anyway, guess who is
in the bill day Not my living room, but in

(04:03):
his my one and only, my boot crew for life,
my ride or Die partner in crime, Mr Cody Covid
Rigsby just kidding. Wait, I just oh, well, clearly. I
mean we just have that, like because now that we
do this whole relationship thing where we're so far away

(04:26):
but we feel it. You felt it. Oh, you were
like literally ready for me, like actually we're trying to
let's go. I did get more as much as I
loved that shiny shirt. Also, I'm waiting on pizza, so
you might. Oh, I'm so jealous. I haven't even had
time to postmates. Are you postmating it? I think something?

(04:46):
So you never lost your taste or smell, I don't
think so. How is your COVID experience this this round
of COVID Um, honestly, like the first time I had COVID,
it was, I'm gonna say, the most sick I have
ever been in my entire life, especially as someone who's
an athlete and someone who moves their body for a living. Um,
it was just like it took me am, I loved

(05:08):
to curse, yes, sir, the funk out Like I was
out for two weeks and then it took me another
week to feel normal, and then it took me like
five weeks to feel like I was like back in it,
you know. So Um, that was the first time. This
time honestly mild symptoms for a few days and like
it was nothing. I truly believe, you know, whatever your

(05:32):
opinions are about vaccine, Like, my my personal take on
it is that the vaccine did me a lot of
good and really made this not as crazy. It was
the first time. Same and I think I think I
was like the fastest ever COVID like symptoms. It was like, okay,
yes it was pretty bad. Then I lost my taste
of spell. Now it's kind of back like that's really fast,

(05:54):
like it's been weight ten days. Right. So the crappy part, though,
I guess with all of this, is that we had
to dants. It wasn't crappy because it was something that
I'll take with me for the rest of my life.
But we had a dance remotely tonight. How did you
feel about that? Honestly when it was just I literally
in between press and coming here to chat with you.
I watched it back on the post that you put

(06:15):
up there. I don't give a funk what anybody said,
fucking slay that I watched it back. I was like, wait, man,
we hit every mark, we hit every line we hit
there was no delay, like, there was no delay, and
it looked great and I gave you Britney Spears down. Okay, Dawn,
did you hear people's commentary on Instagram? They're like, and he's,

(06:37):
oh my god face yes, Cody, like they were really
living it living So I mean, so maybe they were
watching another rehearsal. I'm just kidding, just kidding, that was
not my ass. That was my share. I swear to
God that same excuse in middle school. But I so no,

(07:02):
I don't like to do that. That's actually my pet peeves.
So if you're going to do that, just make it silent,
but doubly, I don't want to hear it. I just
don't want to hear it. I want to hear it
like I'll do a burping contest with you. I just
cannot do it out of the butt. Thank you. Um okay,
So okay. Rewind when we re win. When Dina kats Are,

(07:26):
casting director and executive producer of Dancing with the Star
said to us, I have an idea and this is
the idea. Me and you were talking to her, and
for some reason, I felt like I was the only
one excited about the idea. No, you definitely were like
the cheerleader that I needed. You were like, no, we're
doing this, and I was like, are you sure, Like

(07:48):
this is before we get eliminated. Yeah, it's gonna like
it's gonna look jankie, it's gonna look bad. Am I
gonna be like embarrassed by what comes out? And you
were like, no, we got this, and I was like okay.
And then nestly the changing point for me was the
first rehearsal that we had where you pieced together all
these little gags and props and things, and I was like, Okay,

(08:09):
I see the vision we got. Yeah, yeah, it was
gonna be like us, like yawning out of bed and
then wearing a face mask on like an accent. Yeah
it was. I was. I was really grateful for like
your vision because then it it brought me into it,
so I was happy. What is one thing you've learned
about yourself so far a while on this crazy emotional
roller coaster of a journey called Dancing with the Stars? Um?

(08:38):
You know, no, no, Like I think you know. For
the most part, like I'm a really positive person and
I exude that, especially like professionally because that's what I
do for a living, is trying to uplift people. Um,
I've learned that I'm not as compassionate with myself as
I am with other people. Um. And at the same time,

(09:04):
I really need that that self compassion from myself. So
that is something that I've learned that I that I
need more of and that I'm going to work on.
Are you still seeing your therapists? Kidding? I haven't, you know?
I mean I am, I still am in a while.

(09:25):
I don't think I've even talked to her since this
process has started because I have any time. I've been
flying back and forth, I've been going, I've been trying
to see my boyfriend, like, I just haven't had the time.
So that's a really good reminder for me to text
her stat um, what type of okay? One more question,
what type of feelings have you had whild being because

(09:46):
of your boyfriend's not with you? You're totally alone for
the last what's six days? Seven days? Maybe I lost
count who's who's counting? But like, have you hasn't brought
up any like crazy emotions or how how are you
feeling currently? You know, I'm not I'm not like sad
about the loneliness. I'm not like sad about being alone.

(10:07):
I don't feel very I'm alone, but I don't feel lonely,
right yes, right, right? Um no, thankfully we've been like
super distracted with like setting up a TV studio in
homes like we've we've been rehearsing, we've had each other,
So I don't feel lonely. Um. I think just like
more so the emotions in the roller coaster of the

(10:29):
show of like am I gonna get eliminated? Are we
gonna do this? How are we gonna pull this off?
What are people gonna judge us for it? I've even
text like some of the other cast mates. I was like,
I hope nobody's mad at me, Like I don't be
mad at me, Like I didn't want it to be
this way. I actually asked Jenna that, I said, do
they hate us to you? Because they're totally rooting for you.

(10:52):
It's crazy. I know this show is a competition, but
literally everybody on this cast is so sweet, is so encouraging.
It's not always like that, by the way. I'm glad
to know that, because like honestly, like Jimmy Allen checks
on me all the time, I mean checks on me
all the time. Matt James, Like, we're so sweet. Even

(11:12):
I even got a d M from Melsey I think
she like recently got her peloton delivered or something l A.
And it's just so like it's a competition, but it's
so well, Yeah, it's really supportive that people are rooting
for each other, um, even though it's a competition, you know,
and just being vulnerable. Everyone's being so vulnerable with each other. Yeah,

(11:34):
I'm really sad about Christine, by the way. You feel
like Christine, like Honestly, I didn't think before we did
the show. Before I saw Christine dance, I was like,
ain't no way she's gonna be like even good. And
I was like her technique is great, and she'd tell
you something Asians. I'm just saying. I mean, apparently, like
we worked hard going away at like my expectation. I'm

(11:57):
dumb for setting expectation what Christie's Christine was gonna look like,
and she did amazing And so yeah, it's like even
sad to see, you know, sad to see that. But
how does it make you feel that your boot Crew
followers are just like totally rallying up against Honestly, we
were at the lowest. We were at the bottom of
the leader board, so that just goes to show you that,
Like she was top seven f I Christine, So that

(12:20):
just shows you, like, there we go. Anyways, who knows,
super supportive. All of my friends reached out to me like, no,
bit you slay that. Don't let these judges bring you
down like we got you, Like seriously, everyone texting me.
He's like, that's right, okay, I love you. Thanks for
checking in, of course, thanks for a great week. I
can't wait to as soon as we get cleared. So

(12:43):
I'm not wearing a bro Okay, love you? What's what's new?
What's new? It's okay, go ahead. No, I just said, like,
you know what if we've known each other for a
month and I've already seen your nipples? Man inside with yes?
But but hi, how are you? You're in your trailer?

(13:16):
I missed the trailers? Do yeah? I kind of? I
kind of do I do? Actually? And um, wait, where
is your face? I don't miss the WiFi? There? Here
we go? Can okay? Yes, I can't. Baby, Well you're
just doing fabulous. How's it going? It's going? Man, It's crazy,

(13:36):
you know as ever? Um, this week was so much
fun with Britney, and I just feel like the energy
was great all across the rehearsal studio, Just like hearing
Brittany's music blasting the whole time was amazing. Did you
hear it from my living room? Or I did? I
was like, oh, there she is, but seriously missed you

(13:57):
guys like so crazy weird right because it's like not
like we're all hanging out anyway, but it's like still
like I remember actually right before I got diagnosed with covid.
I saw you guys were nervous. Were you nervous? Actually?
Did I hug you? We didn't hug. We didn't hug.
We didn't We didn't hug, and we were both fully

(14:19):
masked because we secretly hate each other. Okay, hate each other.
I remember that night I found out. I told Jojo.
I was like, oh my gosh, we literally Cheryl was
spitting on me. Yeah, what are the freaking on? But
you know what, and this is gonna sound terrible. I'm
so this is gonna sound terrible. Go ahead, don't say it.

(14:40):
Say it that it did happen. Yes, because it showed that,
like we can make this work. No, totally, And I'm
really I don't know how you felt about it, but
I'm really grateful for the show because it's cod is real. Well,
this is the normal. Yeah, this is like it's still happening,
you know. But the fact that you still got a

(15:02):
chance to dance, you and Cody, you still got to
remain in the competition, like that's a little blessing in
disguise for the rest of us. Do you think that
it's not fair though, because I know a lot of
people are thinking it's not fair. Do you see that perspective,
I guess. I mean, listen, I do if if I
were Okay, So when people get injured on the show normally,

(15:22):
or when people get sick, they don't get another chance,
but because they're actually like really injured and they're like
really sick, and that's because of that, you know that situation.
But with COVID nowadays, right, but there's also COVID days exactly,
it's different. You know, it's completely different. And the thing
that sucks too is like Cody has also really been
looking forward to doing this and you both have getting

(15:44):
a tone of work into it, so like for you
to be out because of something like this would really
really suck. And so I'm going to say last season
they were really throat about it, and I think all
our understanding was like you're going to be out. So
that's why I'm saying, I hate that it happens you guys,
but so grateful because it gives me a little bit
of hope of Like I mean, listen, I'm living apart

(16:07):
from my husband. I'm being cautious. I don't don't you
find that a little hypocritical, just a little bit, because
this is what I said, I mean, I'm flying with
Joe Schmo sitting next to me, eating, sneezing, maybe coughing,
and they're not letting you guys. You know what I'm saying, Like,
if anybody is safe right now, it is the people

(16:27):
on that set, because really we don't go anywhere but
our pods. I mean even two, I know that both
of us are being tested three times a week, and
I know that we're not allowed in the rehearsal space
until we get a negative. You're cleared to go to
work today. So it is hard in that sense. But
again then I'm reminded like if I got COVID and

(16:49):
I were t ruined, Vowel's chances were a really amazing
partner this season absolutely devastated. So for both of us,
we don't even want to risk it. But you know,
there is that like, how do you trust us going
to the grocery store or freaking well, that's what I
mean exactly exactly, the fact that you guys are diznially, Yeah,
so you trust all those all those I know. I mean, like, look,

(17:13):
the show must go on, right, and I just like
I don't know because I wasn't in the ballroom and
neither was Cody, Like, we just want to make sure
everyone is just like cool with the fact that we're
still here, because I understand that the last two weeks, right,
we did the rehearsal footage, and then we did this
weird thing that we did today, right, but like, as
long as you guys accept it, then except everyone's energy

(17:33):
was great. If anything, we were like dying. I can't
even imagine having to dance in my living room, Jenna,
I don't know how you did it, so like you're
not You're not just dancers, we're also set designers and
sound uh people and also everything. Well literally we talked
about day they're not allowed to come in here at all, nobody.

(17:56):
We talked about that, like during dress rehearsal, the audio
didn't start. You guys didn't hear it, and like it
was playing in the ballroom and you guys were smiling
and frozen. That is the scariest thing in the world.
I know. I was I and I was yelling at
Cody for all week, like you're off time, what are
you doing your This is not the right time. So
I made him videotape himself doing the dance on his

(18:18):
own because it's like we were two solos. Anyways, he
was never off time. It was the booth that had
the delay. I would have been pooping my pants, like sorry,
Shanna texts me. She's like, no, it's everyone poops, not
in their pants, but maybe. But anyway, she texts me,
She's like, you look so stressed but it's great and

(18:38):
I'm like, yeah, right, just like I would have had
a full part time. So I have to command you
for like doing it and like looking hot girl. Also,
can we talk about did you have the pole before?
After this performance? This pool? This is the pole? What?
There's one of two? This is one, there's another one

(18:59):
over there that hold the house up. It just happens
to be like you don't understand, Jenna. I asked the
creative team, can I please have stripper poles for our
chatcha that was gonna be a chat this is gonna
be And there was too much. Thank god they didn't
build it, but it was too much, and then cut
to sea it is meant to be. Boom, you got
your stripper pole. Tell me about how your season is going,

(19:20):
because honestly, look in the dance world, in the competitive
dance world, for me, it's like we dance with women
like Viveka, my one of my dance coaches. You know.
It was like it's a normal thing for us. Right,
How are you like how to How is it like
having to interact and communicate? Is it better because you're
talking to another woman? Like, is it easier to communicate?

(19:40):
It's hysterical because I'm starting to understand what a lot
of the guy I mean, I think the guy pros
are a little bit sometimes what is on the show, Like,
let's be honest, they like in general, guys like he
had the harder job. I'm like, do you know no? Actually,
Pasha disagrees, and I can put this on the record.
We've talked about this multiple times. He agrees that we
have the harder up. Thank you. But to now be

(20:03):
paired with a girl Grant and she is mostly doing
the guy part essentially, sometimes we switched, but I feel
like we have such a better understanding of each other.
Communication is so much easier. Let me tell you that
we were both on our periods last week and that
was a little bit nightmarish. We had a meltdown. Are

(20:24):
you guys are going to start being on the same cycle? Yeah,
only sinking up, So that's interesting. And I've never had
one of my partners cry before, so that was the
first ever ever, none of them never. No, I've never
made any of my guys cry. Are you sure? Yeah? Yeah,
I think I've made every single person cry within the

(20:46):
first three weeks. I cannot well, I cry. We we
had which was great. Are you guys like really good friends,
really good friends, like sister, like little sister. Yeah. And
I have to be honest, a lot of people are
like going into this before I had even met her.

(21:06):
She's so loud, she's obnoxious, she's over the top, she's
gonna be so much energy, blah blah. I was like, Okay,
let me go meet her. She has so much energy.
But when I tell you, she is like the smartest,
most mature, respectful human of like an eighteen year old
who's successful and yes, who, by the way, has rhine

(21:29):
stones everywhere. Can you please tell me about that experience
because I was kind of jealous because you know me
and my rhinestones. There's a room in her house that
has labeled the rhinestone room that is head to toe
organized and every color of rhystone organized organized and like perfect,
like o C D brain organized. We have college hearts,

(21:51):
we have a thing. Do you think she'd like my
kitty cat? Should I give that? Should I gifted to her?
Can you even see it? She might? Can you see it? Now?
There it is? That is Swarowski Ryin stones. You're welcome.
Let me show you this. So today we had this
hairstyle and she was like, I brought you rhyan stones
for your hair. Stop. Oh my god, oh my god?

(22:14):
Are they Sarsky crystal? Jenna, you need to share that Swarowski.
That's expensive. And then she made this. Can you open it? Please?
I need to see it. Open it? Open it? She
made that. Oh my god, we'd be best friends. We'd
be arts and crafts besties. She made it and rhyan
stone it stop it can I I can't see anything.

(22:38):
You can't see it. I can't see it. You have
to put it in your hand. Thank you. Oh are
there actual Rhyin stones? So? Are those like those cubic
circles Ryin stones? These are the real deal. Okay? What
is this Gucci thing you're wearing? Did she give you
that too? Oh? Okay, So she showed up the first week,
actually it was last week, and I told her, I'm

(23:00):
like the cheapest person and I don't worry my even
my pr he's on here so fun of me because
he came into my closet and he's like, you don't
have anything cute or like nice, and I was like,
you're right. So I we were joking that, like her
whole closet is Gucci everything, and I was like, I
don't own a piece of Gucci. I was like, I'm

(23:20):
way too cheap. She so shows up week too. She
has this like Gucci matching jumpers, these rhinestones, and I
was just like, dad, I show up today at eight
am and she's in my trailer smiling as bag as
you can with a fool Gucci chap suits. Wow, what

(23:42):
what there's Gucci shoes. I didn't even know. I didn't
even know there's a track suit that was like, what
like ten thousand dollars anything. She reminds me of my
ex partner a shadow. I'm just kidding. He you just
like I'd come into my trailer and be like random

(24:03):
lu Baton's and I was like, great, let's Somba now,
I'm kidding. I love that you do have a special
bond and I actually you know Strictly come Dancing this
English version that they have over there dancing on the stars.
They have two boys dancing together, two men, and I
find it very cool and fascinating, you know. And I'm
sorry I thought I saw a big fly, but that's
not that's just I'm going crazy, okay, And I actually

(24:26):
find it very I don't find it. Um, it's not offensive,
right like you, It's not raunchy, it's not like out
of this world. It's very classy. I think you're doing
a great job, Jenna, and I think you should win.
I mean, if we don't win because of our COVID,
please vote for my COVID comeback story Columbia in the finals. Um, okay,
one step at a time that I love you, I

(24:50):
will I will say about Strictly you know. I did
watch their video of the two guys they did a
tango their week one and I was just like so
cool and Bell and I were actually talking about it
and I was like, would you ever? Why isn't what
are you doing that? That was like I would do
this next season and really and I think he would
be so good because would you really do it? Though? Oh?
He would live his best life and he would. He's

(25:11):
really great at the girls part, like don't don't play around,
so is Cody. Maybe we should do switch up week
just saying I would be down Jojo with the guy. Wait,
tell me about your clothing line really quick. Yes, Um,
so I started a dance war line or I collaborated
with a company from Joe. They're called Joe and Jack's.

(25:31):
I did a ballroom inspired line because why not? And
color theme was red, cheet up black. Those are my
favorite colors. Um and has been so fun and like, yeah, Gucci,
I love it. You look fabulous and I got some
and I loved the sports bra. I wear it all
the time even though you don't see me, but well,

(25:53):
I know hopefully soon i'll see you in it. But yeah,
Jojo loves the sports bra and she's been really weird
about like showing her boobs. Okay, she wears my sports brawn.
It's like a low V so I'm meant to it.
I love it. And where can people find that? Find
your clothes and clothing line? I guess my Instagram at
Jenna Johnson and um the link is in my bio
where you can check out Joe and Jacks dot com.

(26:15):
I love you girl. Congratulations Thanks c V. So good
to see you. I hope you're back soon. Same same,
love you. Thank you so much for doing this. Bye bye.
Thank you so much to my guests, my partner in crime,

(26:39):
Cody Rigsby, and of course my fellow professional dance dance partner.
I was gonna say, no, no, no, she's not my
dance partner, but my fellow professional dancer on Dancing with
the Stars, Jenna Schmerkovsky. Gotta love her. Um, she is
actually dancing with Jojo, and I find it to be awesome.

(27:00):
I think she's doing such a great job. And honestly,
I think a lot of these celebrities this season actually
have dance experience, so it's been interesting to kind of
see um them progress and then also seeing how the
judges are actually very hard on the ones that have
dance experience, including my partner, Mr Cody Rigsby. So um. Anyway,

(27:20):
so another big shocker I guess of the ball room
in the ballroom that happened tonight is the fact that
Derek Um was not there tonight. Right there was obviously
clearly a missing fourth seats fourth judges seat, and he
would have probably given us A seven. I know he
would have loved our Brittany routine. But anyways, enough about
us um. So basically this is I guess what people

(27:42):
are saying, that Derek got exposed to covid um as well,
and he's just taking precaution. So he not only judges
Dancing with the Stars, but he also does his tour
or his live stage show in Vegas, which I think
I heard that he also had to take a couple
of nights off. But look, at the end of the day,
it's better safe than sorry, you guys, because honestly, thank

(28:04):
god Cody, when I found out I had covid and
Cody actually had tested and got a negative test. You know,
there was an option of Cody having to dance with
maybe Sophia or like Britt or another pro right girl,
and thank god that didn't happen because he ended up
testing positive. So it's always better to be safe than sorry,

(28:26):
because this delta variant is no joke. Okay, enough about
covid um. How do I feel? Well, I'm back to
covid um. I actually feel quite normal, and I'm very
very blessed and grateful that I'm not feeling as bad
as what people have expressed that when they went through
COVID that they were feeling. Um, I think it does help.

(28:46):
I'm not like, Look, I'm not Mrs Fauci or Mr
Fauci at the end of the day. Look, I just
know that I felt like crap the first two days. Um.
This quarantine period has been interesting because my husband obviously
live here with me, and he's also been you know,
eve been social distancing, but like very much like distance

(29:06):
right because he's like takes over the downstairs, I'll be upstairs.
And it's just been like ten days that have gone
by pretty fast, but it's been a lonely ten days
and it's been like major fomo, like fear of missing
out and just like not knowing my fate on Dancing
with the Stars and my dancing is my season gonna
end early? And just like the emotional roller, like the

(29:27):
emotional roller coaster of emotions that I've just been going through,
which has been crazy because it's been a lot of
fear based right. So um, anyway, I'm just grateful for
all of you guys, for all of your support. Thank
you for checking in, because it does help, especially when
you're alone and it's one thing to be quarantine, right,
and it's one thing to be quarantine with COVID. This

(29:48):
experience hasn't been the greatest, but um, I'm hoping that
my period of um being under quarantine is ending very
soon and I'll be able to get back to normal
as far as being back in the ballroom goes. So
um anyway, yeah, um, anyway, Thank you guys for your support.
Thank you guys for voting for us, because we would
have not made it past another week, especially being at

(30:09):
the bottom of the leaderboard, if it wasn't for all
of you. So thanks again for tuning in and I'll
see you. Follow Pretty Messed Up on I Her radio
