Speaker 1 (00:27):
Take a deep breath in through your nose, holds it now,
release slowly again, deep in, helle hold release, repeating internally

(01:03):
to yourself as you connect to my voice. I am
deeply well. I am deeply well. I am deeply wow.

(01:30):
I'm Debbie Brown. And this is the Deeply Well Podcast.
Something that we explore a lot here, but mostly something
that is a deep part of my work that I
teach out in the world, that I teach with my

(01:51):
educational systems that I build, or my corporate teachings, my
one on ones. Something I really really find immensely valuable
and important is understanding how to make this concept of
self care real and authentic to your life in a

(02:13):
way that supports your emotional goals, your mental goals, and yes,
your career goals. You know, self care. It's not just
the oh, I'm doing self care. I'm taking myself shopping.
There is room for that, and I'm all for that.
But self care is about I know I'm worthy, I

(02:33):
know I'm worth it. I know that I have a
life that requires something of me. So how do I
support that? How do I support this journey for myself?
We are each the stars of our own movies. We
play supporting characters in the lives of many people, tens

(02:59):
of people, hundreds of people, depending on who you are,
thousands of people. We all play supporting roles sometimes that
we're not even aware of in the movies and in
the storylines and in the plots of other people, and
people do the same for us. But it's so important
that you know that you were actually living your individual movie.

(03:23):
You are the hero of that journey. And we have
moments where we can become the villains of our own stories.
We can become the victims in our own stories. Absolutely,
but know that you also have the ability to be
the hero of your story, to be the protagonist, to
be the happy ending of your story. There is opportunity

(03:47):
to co create here. There's opportunity to come into a
closeness with your gifts that allows you to really live
them in an effortless way. But that wires supportive practice,
says you think of that supportive practice, you know, really think,

(04:07):
how can I start spending more time with myself in
a way that really honors me, in a way that
really utilizes some of the best pieces and parts of me.
You know, so sit with that in this experience now
and I want you to allow yourself to gently close

(04:28):
your eyes in this moment and let's dream a little here.
I want you to visualize what it feels like to
be living a life that supports the truth of who
you are. The truth of who you are is that

(04:49):
you are worthy, that you're expansive, that you are enough,
that you are valuable, that you are loved, that you
are cherished, that you are powerful, that you are influential,
that you have something to give, you have something to live.

(05:11):
And so, knowing that to be true, feeling that to
be true, what are some practices that can support that?
What are some ways that you can show up for yourself.
Maybe that's considering adding movement to your day with the
gentle stretching routine at night and in the morning just

(05:31):
a few minutes. Maybe that's a workout for some. Maybe
that's yoga postures for some. Maybe that's carving out the
long way home and taking a little walk too, or
as you're out running errands, you know, consciously taking the
stairs instead of the escalator or the elevator if you're able,

(05:55):
and asking yourself questions as you take that stairwalk, or
visualizing your breath as you're walking. Maybe that is sitting
in nature, but allowing yourself to do whatever movement is possible.
If that's even lifting your arms up or kind of

(06:17):
moving your hands and your feet and soil. Maybe that's
a little dance, you know, dancing to a playlist as
you start your day. I love doing that with my
son in the morning, or dancing just for yourself as
you in the night. And maybe some supportive practice and

(06:39):
technique could be doing that. Breathing those three breaths, the
deep breath that we took earlier in this episode, taking
just a couple of minutes to do that in the morning,
to do that at lunch, to do that before bed,

(07:02):
to do that when you're in the thick of a
email response, or as you're talking to your children. So
it's just noticing what are the small, nourishing, supportive ways
I can be more of me very intentionally, that I
can nourish me very intentionally, and then of course throwing

(07:26):
those bigger things. You know, if you want to take
a spa day, do that. If you want to take
a day where you pour into yourself and you just
do things that you like. I love doing that for myself.
There's some Maybe once a quarter I like to disappear
with just myself to go to Joshua Tree or go
to Palm Springs, which is close to California, LA area

(07:47):
where I live, and I'll go up there and I'll
have a little journey for myself and I sometimes will
take you know, maybe I'll go up there for a
day and a half and I really like looking for
bizarre creative things, and so I might go to a

(08:08):
bunch of yard sales, or go antique shopping, or get
lost in a museum and just hold silence for myself
for that day, have a really good meal, and then
come home for me. Spending alone time with myself like
that when I'm able not always possible, but God do
I relish it. When it is. I love it, I

(08:30):
need it. I come back change different, better more So
that is something I know I have to build into
my life in some way. And even if I don't
get to get away, you know, saying I'm going to
carve out this afternoon to be quiet, but to do
things that I really like by myself. So that's how

(08:51):
you can start thinking of those moments as well. You
can start settling into it in that way. So let's
come back into that science. So now with those examples,
what could be true for you, And just hold this
moment here just a couple of minutes, and now coming

(11:21):
back into yourself, into your body, into your heart, into
your mind. Let's take a big, calming, nourishing breath together here,
begin and inhale deeply in through your nose. Bring that
aerran slowly but fully, masterfully, let it feel you. It's

(11:42):
felling your lungs, it's expanding your heart, it's filling your belly.
And hold that breath in for a moment, let it
really circulate inside of you. Notice that pressure that's coming
into your chest, into your face, into your body. And
now release that breath fully but slowly, very measured paced,

(12:05):
coming down your nose, and return now gently to any
breath that feels normal, natural, nourishing to you. And if
your eyes are closed, you can gently open them. And
now let's come into a little soul work for this episode.
So what that looks like is, do you have a journal,

(12:30):
do you have a notebook? I want you to spend
some time today, just a couple of minutes, ideally as
this episode ends, and while it's fresh in you and
without thinking too much about it, without getting in your way.
Write down your gifts. Write down three things about you.

(12:53):
Maybe people know they exist, maybe they don't yet, but
you know, write that down. It can be anything. Does
not have to be a skill that translates into making
money or having a job, but a gift, something that
is uniquely you that is shared with others in a
way that changes them somehow or gives them a permission.

(13:18):
Notice that about yourself and spend some time connecting to
it and writing it out on paper, and then ask
yourself that question every day until we meet again, without
trying to fill it with an answer. Who am I?
Who am I? Who am I? Hm? I'm in a
