Speaker 1 (00:01):
She starts in three two.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
A podcast called twenty five wist stuck in Football and
they go whist So, yeah, it's too.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Bad, but what did you expect it to?
Speaker 3 (00:17):
A podcast called twenty five Whistles, Wine Wheels, presented by
Aaron Rodgers Achilles.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Oh that's my stuff, so I.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Presented by Draft Kings sports book and official sports betting
partner of the NFL. Download the DraftKings app used to
code Bobby Sports and get in on the action. We
will lead with that coming up George Burge and Ben Rector.
George is an awesome golfer. We taught golf. Ben Rector
is a great singer, is also a good golfer and
pickleball player. All that's coming up, so just hold tight.
But first, Aaron Rodgers Achilles. So I will say I
(00:54):
was watching the game last night, and I was excited
because here we go, Aaron Rodgers in the green. That
light green does look a little weird. I thought it'd
be a little easier because the Packers were kind of
green and yellow, but it still looks a little weird
on him.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
There was a I saw an over under that somebody
was doing that was like Aaron Rodgers plus minus zero
point five yards passing. It was like some funny prop
and to make sure everybody won. And then he didn't
even hit that. Oh my gosh, And what did he have?
Four snaps?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Fourth play right?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
And then he's standing there and he goes down.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Oh he walked on it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I think he realized he couldn't, but it wasn't. He
was hit and then he just stayed down. Everybody worried.
He got up and then was like and so I thought, oh,
he'll be right back. When they were like walking them off,
I really thought they're just because they had, you know,
he had his arms on both their shoulders, cut them off.
I'm like, he'll be fine if anything twisted ankle, worst
case high ankle sprain, No, no, no worst worst worst
(01:53):
case is the tear of the achilles.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Did you ever see him come out of the tent.
I feel like I missed.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
That on the cart Okay, wanted to pull up the
cart and.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
I must have gone to the bathroom something. But when I.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
Got back, I'm like, they're not talking about him, like
what's happening? Well, I need an update, And I didn't
get the update till like halftime.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
And the update kept changing on Twitter. It was questionable.
Then it's like he's not going to come back in
the game, but it could be a high ankle spray
because the X rays came back negative, so people were
finding some promise in the negative x ray. But an
X ray is not going to actually tell you an
Achilles snapped, that's just The's gonna be like an MRI.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
And even when they said ankle, I was like, nothing
was like happened his ankle?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
How unlucky is that? It's I like Aaron Rodgers just fine.
So it's I don't find any joy in that. But
where Kevin's laughing his butt off because it was the Jets.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Because I can't help. But man, like all this hype,
Jets haven't been in the playoffs since twenty ten, all
this hype, and like, I'm honestly bummed. I wish he
did play. I wish he didn't get hurt because I
wanted to see it happen.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
I just loved seeing those sad Jets fans last night.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
I don't think that hype is fair because he got hurt.
Hype is fair to compare if he sucked. Yeah, hype
not fair if he got hurt, it's a fan not laughing.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, for me, it's the fans. It's the fans. The
guy flip you're just a hater. Yeah, of course, of course.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Did you like Tom Brady be in the uniform again?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
It was beautiful on Sunday? Yeah, oh yeah, that's the
happiest I've been in three years.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I mean it was tom Brady at every game.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Like I feel like Tom Brady was at three games
this week and it's almost like, dude, you got to
step away, like, hey, watch.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
It from the from the house.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
You can't help it.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
He couldn't help it, just waiting for someone to call
him in. Yeah, he's the emergency quarterback on every team's roster.
It's so funny that sucks about Aaron Rodgers just for
the league. Yeah, and you see how boring a game
can be when you don't have a good quarterback.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
If you know, when I would argue with you guys
about protecting the quarterbacks, you'd be like, no, let him
touch him.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
I'm like no.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Then, yes, we were like we want to play football.
But I turned the game off halfway to the second quarter.
I was like, this is awful to watch. And then
I turned it back on because I flipped and it
was thirteen six and then the Jets scored it down.
I think to tie it up is my order?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Right? Went overtime, Yeah, and that turn of.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Garret Wilson's catch was unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Then I went to overtime and saw the pump return.
It is awesome. It's awesome.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
That was cool. I mean he's even as a Patriots fan,
I'm like, okay, this is pretty cool for the kid return. Yeah,
I mean in overtime, New York.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Just made it from Steven hard Knocks man. Yeah, they
told on Hard Knocks he made the team that. I
thought the announcer was a little over the top with
his They missed a leg whip, yeah, no was it?
Could it have been interpreted as a trip? Okay, but no,
he was up in the air. The guy was already
going to be as blocked as he needed to be
that but he did extend the leg a little bit.
(04:39):
But that's almost like when you're wrestling with your big brothers, like, oh,
you extended the leg a little bit just to get
that trip in. I don't think it was as blatant
as the announcer made it like.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
He just got away with the leg wat.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Yeah, it's and it's not like it happened like you know,
a few players down.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
It was right in front of the ref. I think
if he thought.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
It was a trip, he would have called it if
it was, if it would have created an advantage. But
he was already blocked, and it wasn't even that he
was blocked. The gather g I got in the way
and that they fell down. That was not changing the game.
Could it have been interpreted as a trip, yes, but
again the announcer was acting like what a put an asterisk?
Speaker 2 (05:14):
I think is what he says, put an ash.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
We don't even remember this game in two weeks if
we won't put an asterisk on some crap.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
I hate that they brought that up.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
It was pretty stupid. Yeah, and you're not a Jets
fan and you hated it.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I hated it. It's like kind of ruined the moment
a little bit, like let them let him have it.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Also run moment. If you got Garrett Wilson in Fantasy,
you took him way early. Well, you know, Avaron Rodgers
thought to him anymore, No, that sucks, but he's still
the best receiver on that team. That's cool and all that,
but who's going to get him the ball? Now?
Speaker 1 (05:41):
They got to bring somebody in, right I would think.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
So, Now, Zach Wilson did win, but you look at
quarterbacks that are available right now, what I would sign
up for that? The only way to supplant the Rogers
hype is to bring in the tea.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
But who do you?
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I mean, the only quarter back that I could think
about would be he just went to Dallas, Yeah, Trey Lance.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
So Lance?
Speaker 3 (06:06):
I mean, I don't think the Fortynine is gonna trade
Sam Darnold, who would is probably better than a lot
of that's well, a few of the starting quarterbacks back.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
To the Jets. That'd be funny. That would be funny.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
What about like Cam Newton, can we get him back?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Old Jamis Winston trade for James James?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
I think you just go with Zach Wilson if you're
gonna do that, like, unless you're making a play because
you feel because the Jetsy's good. Yeah, unless you feel
like you're gonna do a forty nine er and just
get someone who's adequate and let everybody else do their
jobs at a high level. Because It's what rock party is, right.
He gets in, he gets a job done. He's not
gonna screw up a whole lot unless you can find
(06:44):
that quarterback. You don't go get anybody. And you try
to make Zach Wilson that version, because if you're gonna
get somebody, you can get a Jameis Winston or not
Cam Newton. He's even playing, but you know they're gonna
take too many. They're probably too much of a risk taker.
You don't really need a quarterback to win games at
this point. You need a quarterback to actually come in
and not lose you games if you believe in your
(07:05):
defense that much.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Wilson's so bad, Zach Wilson, Zach Sorry, yeah, not Garrett,
there's good.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I like it that he still wears like a do
rag Sack Wilson.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Zach Wilson to do with the mom's friend. Yeah, I
think his mom's right.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
And and the mom yeah what hot mom? Man?
Speaker 2 (07:29):
That another headline.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
So the coaches owners, I mean, this happens four plays
in Like what what are you thinking?
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Like, what is that thought? Well, it's this sucks.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
We spend a lot of money, which they'll probably if
you know, if Rogers goes on I R they don't
have to. They'll have more money to even spend this
year because if that money is dead, they can then
bring somebody in. But also, if you're a salad, you're
probably like, well, it's probably another couple of years with
no pressure because it doesn't matter what happens this year.
That's true, he's not gonna have any pressure to win.
(08:00):
But I think you want that pressure with a good quarterback,
and second is not have any pressure. Third is to
have pressure with a bad quarterback. So I think he's
on level two now. But that's the only like shining
light is the fact that he's not gonna have pressure
to like get him to the AFC Championship game.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
The fact that they did beat the Bills is that
is that any momentum pretty cool?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
I mean, I don't know, it's not a momentum loser,
except for all the momentums is lost with the Rogers
being gone. I think it's it was just ugly. It's
just ugly. The game was ugly. It was Zach Wilson
throws a pick like.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Hello, goodbye, Maroon was throwing picks last night.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
The Packers also lose out on a first rounder because.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
He has a place like, yeah, sixty games this year,
so they also lose too, so but the Jets do
win in that world.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, which I'm sure they would give up.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
No problem, right, But it's does Rogers ever come back?
If I'm forty yeah and id tearing Achilles, I'm probably retired,
I say done done.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
But he's got too much of a and rightfully so
an ego to go out like that.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
I hear you, but from someone else with a big
ego based on like performance, who's that?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
What do you mean from me?
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I just check it that.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
If I knew I couldn't perform at a high level,
my ego would also keep me in check. Like there
is so much ego that keeps you in it longer,
but there's also that ego that goes God, I don't
want to embarrass myself. I'm gonna be the I don't
want to go and suck because if he doesn't think
he has it, he won't go do it.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
And it's not like he the Achilles, I mean, the
repair is not gonna He's not a runner, so it's
not like he can't go back and play once they fix.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
At Achilles that's a bad one.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
That's that's a nasty one.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
That's a bad one. It's worth but he doesn't ever
depend on his legs. It's not like I mean the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Everything everything's your leg, your plant, you throw.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
You're telling me that if he heals right next year,
he can't come back and be the same quarterback.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
He's forty forty. He's thirty nine right now, forty years old.
It's like, do I think he can be the same quarterback? No,
Josh Allen Tear's achilles, big different, much younger.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
The only good thing is it wasn't a his right leg,
his back leg, plant leg, you know what I mean
when he's throwing the ball. I guess if you're looking
for any and.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I would think he probably in his mind only had
a couple of years left anyway. I know he was
saying forty five, but he probably a couple of years
in his mind left, maybe two three max with the Jets.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
So could he come back?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:14):
With that achilles, it's no joke. Like my friends that
have torn achilles or athletes like, it's the hardest thing
to come back from. It sucks for football, It sucks
for the Jets. It sucks for Jets fans. I'm very
sorry that happened to you guys. Me too, But that's it,
all right, Let's go to the tittle tattle. The tittle tattle.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
After getting dominated at home the other night against Texas,
would you be worried as a Bama fan but the
saban Era is over?
Speaker 3 (10:42):
As a Bama fan, yes, I'd be worried because I'm
a god, because you're not used to not winning at
the highest of high levels. And I'm also irrational if
I'm a Bama fan now as a fan of the
SEC or coult fooball. In general, I think BAM's fine.
They're always going to be second or third in the
(11:04):
SEC now. But Savan's also seventy years old. Yeah, he's
looking tired. It really can only go so long. And
I'm not even saying it's over. I still think they
could win out and win the national championship, so I'm
not saying it's over. But last year, you know, they
saw that as a is not a great season.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
But they lose two games and they almost lost to Texas.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Last year too, they did, but almost as account well,
I know, same kind of situation they did. They almost
lost to Texas, and if you were sort of still
been in the game, the probably would have lost Texas
last year, Yeah, because he got he got injured and
was really playing with it.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
They didn't have Bryce Young last year probably would have
the same result.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
And that Bryce Young deal, like he had to bring
them back from like the depths in that game. But
I don't talk about last yearcause didn't matter everybody. Sometimes
you almost went. Sometimes you win easily. If I were
a bam of fabb be worried, oh my god, because
I'm I got Alabama. So yes, but I don't think
there's as somebody that can see the force in the trees.
There's not real concern. There's a little bit of concern,
(12:02):
But what's your concern. Worst case scenario, your second or
third Yeah, with still the outside shot to finish first.
I mean, George is still got the dogs defensive lineman,
offensive lineman.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Bama's right there with them.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
But yes, Saban's seventy seventy right, seventy one seventy one,
So that's got to end at some point.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
He's got to stop playing those late games though, man Like,
he looks tired by the fourth quarter. He looks like
he's past his bedtime. He looks exhausted. Serious, play him
at noon. Let the old man play at noon.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Didn't think about that, Like really, six, this game's almost
nine o'clock, dude, he's got to go to bed sunrise.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Let him play serious? Put him at that eleven game.
The quarterback situation Obama.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
You know when they don't aim a quarterback until the
first game, you know, you don't really have a quarterback, right,
So I don't know if that's a recruiting issue, because
these guys are highly recruited players. Is it a development issue?
Is it a Nick Saban is old issue? But he's seventy.
But he's also like the CEO, right, It's not like
he's down calling the place, you know. So, But yes,
(13:06):
I would be if a fan, i'd be worried.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
But they're fine.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Saban said this year, probably their next year, then he's
probably out. But what sucks for deebo is or Dabo
excives me. Deebo's a fantas team is that obviously he's
a Clemson. But they're kind of sucking too because he
won't take part of the brilliant and in il transport
portal all that. But he wants to bam a job
because that's his school. So if he's not winning big
(13:29):
at Clemson, he ever gets it. That's what I'm saying.
Like everybody's losing, you gotta get with the times. It's right,
Aaron Rodgers probably have to get that job. Oh wow,
that'll be fun for no other reason than just the headlines.
You get something he can do all right?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Next up, after another statement win last weekend, who does
Colorado have to beat for people to start taking them
as a real contender.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
So let's look at the games. They have Colorado State
coming up. They're playing that in Colorado.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
That's not serious.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
They'll win that one, but it would be interesting to
see if they win that one when everybody thinks they
should win. Now because the first gamm again TCU, nobody
thought they win the second game. Everybody's like, well, let's
just see what they're all about. Let' see if that
was lucky. They're supposed to win this game, so that'll
be interesting. They should win it. They're at home, and
if they do a good deal. But then it's Oregon.
That's that's a tester. That's where we talk because you
(14:14):
have Oregon in the USC and even if they lose
to it.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Even if they lose both those games and it's.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
A respectable game, we can't say it's a failure if
they don't go on tofeeded. If they go, if they
win six or seven games, I think that's a really
nice season. But I think some people are gonna feel
unsatisfied because it started off with such a bang. That's
almost you're building the monsters so big, and you got
to keep feeding it. If you don't keep feeding it,
(14:39):
the monster starts to shrink. But even a shrunk and
monster is way bigger than the loser you had last year.
He's got two sons on that team, Uh huh, safety
and quarterback.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Yeah. Interesting, And all of a sudden, that quarterback's a
first rounder now according to male Kuiper. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
And he coached them in high school too, He did
when I was friends with them.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
He was a high school coach. He fled back coach
up in high school.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Amazing. So is he gonna just keep following him all
the way to NFL?
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Be hilarious?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Be like Lebron and his son, It seems like it.
I don't know if his safety son is Does he play? Yeah,
he's starting safety?
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Oh, he does.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Yeah, they're both playing okay, and then I think the
third son is the audio digital video guy.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Yeah, digital guy. I love it. Yeah, so uh if
his other son makes the league.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Actually I'm not sure what even what kind of what
they're scouting him as, but yeah, it's it's it's fun. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
I like Dean, so it's fine, all right.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
Next up going to the NFL here, which lackluster performance
surprised you more the other day the Bengals at the
Browns or Steelers at home versus the forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
That Bengals loss was real bad. They couldn't do anything,
and Joe Burrow through for less than one hundred yards
Cleveland's real good.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
And I'm happy for a guy like Miles Garrett, who
I don't know, although we do own the Texas Ranger
pickleball team together.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Oh you guys are co owners own what's that called
like when your business business partners?
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Weird business business partners?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
Did you see him doing the basketball? I did his crossover?
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Cool, But a guy like that, that's so good. And
if they did get stuck on a bad team their
whole career, it just feels like such a waste, So
I'm glad that Cleveland's gonna have a real shot. In
the city of Cleveland, I've probably been there once or twice,
but I like have a bond with it because this
is like a working class town. It's a small market
in the NFL, so I do root for them, But
since Night's the same way, it's not like Cincinnati's much bigger.
(16:27):
But since that, he has had some winning recently where
Cleveland's just I mean Cleveland team left him. They had
to create a new Cleveland round in the last twenty
five years. But the Bengals performance, I guess I'm not
going to be a surprise. I am surprised by both.
But Burrow was hurt. He didn't get any preseason snaps
because he was hurt. So how shocked am I going
(16:47):
to be? I am still surprised they lost, and I'm
very surprised they lost so bad and it was so ugly.
But when you look at it, that to me, Burrow
was hurt, no preseason snaps. I'm gonna go with that one.
It's not as shocking as how bad the Steelers were
because I thought the Steelers. I think they win, but
I thought they would I thought it would at least
(17:08):
be a competitive game.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Or was it one yard I think they got by
the half? Was the first half they were.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Down one hundred ninety nine to one. It was like
in the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
I second quarter, it only gotten one yard net yard,
And like Picket, he just looked frantic.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Yeah, and I don't know that it's all his fault.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
It's there's an offensive line there, there's But I think
that to me was the most surprising at how much
I had thought. But by the way, Week one is
an anomaly always, so I'm not really I don't not
really putting anything into Week one as much, except it'll
be on the record at the end of the season
and it'll probably affect some playoff games. But I wouldn't
bet too much based on what you saw Week one.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
I'll throw another one in there. What about Arizona and Washington.
That was a close game, Yeah, I thought, I know,
I'm close. For The craziest one to me was Seattle
losing to the Rams.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Yeah, yeah, I almostly. Yeah, that was a that was
a shock or two.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
That one to me was crazy because you know what,
the forty nine Ers should have beat the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Maybe not that bad.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
Cleveland beating Cincinnati not that crazy. Cleveland supposed to be
really good this year too. No chance the Rams are
supposed to beat freaking.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Seattle, especially by that much at home.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
It's ugly, all right.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Next one, who whoa, whoa whoa Giants Cowboys shock?
Speaker 1 (18:25):
One second, you weren't last question here? Which performance impressed
you more? The Cowboys defense, Eddie or the Dolphins offense.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Let me walk through some stats here.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
The Cowboys defense seven sacks, two interceptions, a blocked field
goal for a touchdown, and I think.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
There were two sacks that weren't countered there that could
have been sacks.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Dolphins offense five hundred and thirty six total yards for
sixty six passing. So which one surprises me more? The
Dolphins offense? I think the Cowboys have a really good defense. Yeah,
probably the Bosa or Parsons. You can argue who you'd
rather have, but the best defense playing football, right, we'll
just say parsons are both other ones.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yeah, Parsons. So I didn't expect it to be that good.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
And then they ran away with the game early, like
they kicked him on the balls early, and it was
over and it was never going to be a game,
all right.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
I mean, I don't think Dak touched the field till, like,
you know, eight minutes in.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
It is never going to be a game.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
So I'm just so surprised the fact that two even
finishes a game is surprising.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Without a concussion.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yeah, I just expect him to always be heard. He
looked good as crap, and Tyreek looks unstoppable. Oh man,
And I was watching where their sant Tyrek doesn't even
you know now, It's like he doesn't just line up
and run. He spent all all season like working on routes.
I like, why don't you already work on roundes, bro,
You've been lead for.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
A long time.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
But like he's like he's really spent a bunch of
time getting better at route running, which is making him
even more dominant. Where he could just outrun everybody, but
now he's being more particular, more precise.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
That's tough. I mean, with Wattle and Tyree, he's got weapons.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
It's wild.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, so I'm gonna go with the dop. It was
a little more surprising. They looked really freaking good.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Okay, but the Cowboys really did make the Giants look
like they did not know how to play football.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah, they did. That was bad, dude, It was really bad.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
And even towards the end of the game, when the
Cowboys just took all their starters out and put the
second string defense in, they still made the Giants look
like they couldn't play football.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
It made it look stupid, I agree. But they also
made the Dolphins offense. I mean, both teams are making
up the other team look dumb. Yeah, but you just
love the Cowboys so much you didn't take anything and
it was just beautiful.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
But you know what I'm saying is it didn't surprise
me as much as the right I believe. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
I put a five hundred dollars future on the Cowboys
that a boy for if they win the Super Bowl.
I went six thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Oh dang the cash out now, no, no, I don't think.
I don't think it's given me any extra money right now.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
One they get your cash out, they're scared even Yeah,
I don't think seventeen dollars is a lead going to
do it.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Okay, that is the Tittle Tattle.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
The Tittle Tattle.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
If I can win like one out of three, that's
that's a money maker because they're hard to hit.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Partly it is hard to.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Hit, oh yeah, especially four games.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Oh, come on, you gotta tell us about this.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I know again, I know he's awesome.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
You guys, look you were bonding to so I could
just tell through a picture. Set the picture up.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
So I go on playing a charity golf tournament yesterday
after the radio show where.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Golf club at Tennessee. What's the weather like?
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Perfect?
Speaker 3 (25:32):
It's like eighty five, a little warm, but there's enough
cloud cover where it makes it pretty comfortable most.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Of the day. Is there a breeze blowing.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Occasionally but not enough to actually affect the ball flight?
Speaker 1 (25:41):
Okay? And so I was talking with Bran Snedecker. It
was his tournament.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah, dude, Snetti.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
And so I was like, hey, man, thanks for having
me out. He was like, appreciate you coming. I was
the celeb in the group, which is always a weird
thing because they're real famous people there and then the
scroup gets me whatever.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
He's like, I appreciate you coming. You know, a big deal.
And I was talking with Nate Bargatzi, comedian who was.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
There as well, for a little bit and somebody comes
up and goes, hey, have you seen Jim And I
was like, Jim who they said nance he was gonna
He's gonna be here in a little bit. I wanted
to say hi. And I was like, I've not seen
Jim nance, but I want to see Jim nantz Jim.
He's always been so nice and you don't really see Jim.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
You hear Jim? Yes you do. Yes.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
So I says he playing, goes, well, he's not gonna
be able to play, but he's gonna come and be
here for a while and just ride around and hang out,
because I think because he was gonna be late, he
wasn't going to be able to play with the team,
but he was gonna and he was there all day,
and so we're probably in a whole four and we're
going we're crossing up with another thing of cars, meaning
we're like in Nicol de Sac and everybody's pulling up
(26:42):
to the green as we're leaving, and who do I hear? Bobby, Well,
look at that. It's Jim Nance And I was like,
what's up? And my whole group they all left. I
mean I crushed to drive in the middle. They're all
standing on my drive wedding on my nice and I
stayed back to talk to Jim for a little bit
and just I.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Think the last time Jim saw you, you were crushing
the part three.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
He didn't see me hit it though, Oh he did,
And I wish I would have told him to. That's
my I didn't, but I want to be his best friend.
And he says, hey, I'm back now, because you know,
he splits his time back to Tennessee. Yeah, he goes,
I'm ready to come do the show. No, okay, yeah,
but I had to play it cool. I was like, yeah,
hit him in a couple of weeks. Oh, it's like dating. Yeah,
(27:23):
I just want to be cool. I want to be
hard to get cool.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
I thought you were about to say, and here is
jim Hey, don't ruin it.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
But I've sat him in my office for two hours.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
It's playing cool man. I know I don't want to
ruin it.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Either, but I was just like, yeah, I hit him
in next couple of weeks and I said when are
you home?
Speaker 1 (27:37):
And he was like, what, like Tuesday?
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Was it Thursday? Because he I said, what game did
you do this last week?
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Do you remember?
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:43):
I heard the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
I heard the whole Thing's a great job, jim, And
so I said. We started talking about the game a
little bit, and we talked about mac Jones having an
offensive coordinator. Now then we've got to start talking about
football for a little bit, talked about Tony or anything.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
I didn't bring up Romo and what that did.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
What would I say, how cool is Tony Man? Is
he cool?
Speaker 3 (28:03):
No?
Speaker 2 (28:03):
No, we were really talking about the game. He did.
Tony fun to work with man.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
So, but Jimmy's was awesome. That's awesome. What did he
say about the Patriots that he thinks?
Speaker 3 (28:12):
I don't want to put words in his mouth, but
he he was optimistic about this season. At least it's
compared to the last ones. Okay, so this segment talking
about golf brought to you by Cobra. That's rights. You
have the putter here.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
I'm well it was just here. Oh oh yeah, yeah
for a golf segment that we did.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
But Cobra, I mean, they're not really sponsoring this, but
wouldn't it be cool if they did?
Speaker 1 (28:34):
That's the line.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Yes, they weren't really sponsor. They don't really sponsors.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
But Cobra my favorite club, and I played really good yesterday.
I play with the arrow Jet driver freaking well. But
now that's what you smashed the ball with the ball
when I hit it, I heard it go Why the ball?
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Why did you say sorry when he got up to it. No,
I was talking to Jim. That's right.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Kevin plays Cobras.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Yep, I got the arrow Jet too.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Let's go beautiful that if you looking for clubs. This
segment not sponsored by, but we'd like to be it
sponsored by Cobra.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Eddie wants to play with Cobras. This is a putter.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
There you go, It's beautiful.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
It's a king. They waited this down though, says waits
in it for you. Yeah, customized.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Yeah, all I went and just had a putter fitting.
They say it here in town, they say thirty five pounds. Yeah,
it's really heavy.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
It's like a seriously, it's like a sledgehammer. It's a
kettle bill. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
I wanted to do a betting recap with you guys.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Oh, this is where you're being honest.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Transparency, transparent betting recap. So we had to parlay, which
is good. That was, and I'm gonna tell you where
I really sucked and where I really thrived. And I
was just gonna do college because I feel like I'm
much better at college and I'll probably drop off NFL
at some point. I don't know really how it's going
to go week to week, but I will let you
know both of them here. So I give Kevin my
phone and he went and did the full audit of
(29:57):
any games bet on this past weekend.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
College total bets Did I tell you this? No?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Okay, total bets in college fifteen bets. Yeah, it's a
lot of bets and live bets too.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Oh boy. Total wagered one thousand, six hundred and seventy
five dollars. I'm sweating already.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Winnings one thousand, three hundred and two dollars overall minus
three seventy three.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
College take a bath.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
There.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
You know where it got me was reloading on that
Arkansas trying to cover during the game because I was like, okay,
so they didn't hit thirty eight, surely they'll hit thirty six.
Oh no, surely. That thing that got me. That's always
I mean, it's it's it's feast or famine.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
What I've learned is when you use the word surely,
that's where it gets here.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
In the NFL, total bets twelve, total wagered one thousand,
eight hundred and forty five dollars, meal winnings two thousand,
three hundred and fifty six dollars overall plus five eleven.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Okay, good.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Overall college NFL plus one thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
That's a great week.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Plus one thirty eight. There's a graphic on the screen
NOWLS plus one thirty eight. I want Toby to see
that plus one thirty eight.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Especially your wife.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Yeah, money, honey, look at it. Reyber smiles. Yes, that's
what I'm talking about. No, I made money. Okay, that's true. Okay,
you can do that, yes, yeah, because you are you right.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Mike, Yeah, yeah, I can't guarantee you money. No, God, no,
you mean smiles.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
No, I can't guarantee money. I can't guarantee smile.
Speaker 6 (31:24):
We go out there.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Fantasy football wise, I had two, took a big L.
Took a big L. But you want to take the
big L in week one?
Speaker 1 (31:34):
You don't want to.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
But if you do, that's okay. Do you want to
but to be the worst?
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yeah, because then you get first pick of the waiver
wire and that you have and gain.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Well, here we go, take Philly starting running back.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Okay, that's what I feared. But also I have Alvin Kamara.
You got a few more weeks on that. I have
two more.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Weeks on him, and I knew I'm just trying to
win one out of three games. If I can win
one out of three this first week, Lamar is not
gonna play that bad usually, But if your fantasy game,
was probably the first pick off the waiver wire because
the running back who looks like he's the main guy
in Philly.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
Yeah, because they went away from him after that first
series and I don't know why man Swift really didn't
do I mean, he didn't do anything.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
And then the receiver that and with the rams who
caught like ten balls. Yeah yeah, well yeah, yeah, so
those are probably your first two picks off the off
the waiver wire. I lost both. I only playing two leagues.
I really only liked playing in one, but I lost both.
The of the game I lost in our Mike Kevin
Kluge League, I needed to holler to get one more point.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
He couldn't do it.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah, dang, he had a great game though, he really did. Yeah,
but the Cowboys were up so much they stopped running him.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, they started running their second and third.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
So but I feel pretty good, you know, my two
quarterbacks though, I have Anthony Richmond on both teams, on
the bench because I drafted him like the sixth round,
just to have as a good backup quarterback.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Lamar I had to have faith in.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
But I have.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Uh uh oh the Bears. Justin Yeah, so Justin Fields. Yes,
he played terrible.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah, but I think I think mainly because we expected
him to play better.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
You think he played back because of our expectations. I know,
I know.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
I just think we think that he played I mean,
he didn't play well, don't get me wrong, It's just
that we really went into this week thinking the Bears
were really going to be a lot.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
And they still might week ones always No, I just
say it's a nominally half the time, it's exactly right.
But the Packers did look pretty freaking good.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yeah they did. We wrote them off. And and your boy.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Baker Mayfield, I told you they're not losing.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Like that was shocking to me.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
I told you, why would you ever doubt because them?
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Because you met Baker one time, and you ever since
then you're like, he's the best.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
I've never met Baker.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
You talked to him.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Yeah, oh that's all it takes.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Were you to talk to someone at D talk because
he was like I was a big fan, so cool.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
I was like, thanks man, And ever since then, you're like,
Baker's the best Bakers.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Any TV joints he's in, I feel like they give
him the shaft. Yeah you know what's up?

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Oh they did.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
I knew they were going through a place game I
gave up watching.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
Yeah, that's so stupid.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
It's oh really, I mean, how would you be motivated
even to play that game? Yeah, it's like just missing
the National Championship. Playing a ball game and then you
get beat. But it's like, yeah, you're disappointed to be there.
But if Lebron and Steph go, that would be pretty
cool and that would be some leadership. And I still

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Though they won forty five to three, I don't eve
think they I don't think look a game to bet
it might have been a fifty game. What I did
see though, was Miami beat Texas A and M. That
was not pretty and like, I don't like that very much.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
They're back, Miami's back in Texas back No I talked about.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
I mean, Texas A and m They've got everything they need,
but they can't do it.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Most surprising thing of the NFL Week last week, one
thing most surprising, I'll go first, as you guys think
about it. I mean, the fact that the Rams won
game one against a good Seattle team really was shocking
to me. And I would see McVeigh really get pumped up.
It's like, you know, the coaches are trying, but you
know the Rams, like the Organs, they don't want to
(36:34):
win because they want a better draft pick. They want
to go to the quarterback Staffords Price last year. Yeah,
so that to me was the most shocking. Eddie, I
think it's got to be Arizona just making it a game.
I really thought Arizona was gonna tank from day one,
and I just feel like they were really trying to
win that game, and they've almost got the tools to
be competitive.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
I just I don't know what was happening.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Do you think it's the commander's kind of sucking a
little bit? Yeah, I mean Sam how did not look great.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
He's a fighter, but I mean I just, yeah, things
were just weren't put getting put together for Kevin.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
For me, it's gonna be the Packers. We talked about
a little bit. Jordan Love looked good, offense looked good,
and they didn't even have Watson defense looks awesome. So
to me that was a big surprise how well they
came out week one.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Week two?
Speaker 3 (37:18):
What storyline are you most looking forward to seeing where
it ends up week two?
Speaker 4 (37:26):
What is Anthony Richardson is? What's his status?
Speaker 1 (37:29):
Is he okay?
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Okay? He was fine after that, wasn't he? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (37:34):
So here's my theory on this real quick. Did you
I don't even know I did. I looked all over
social media. No one said anything about this. But at
the end of the game, did you watch the game?
Speaker 3 (37:43):
A lot of ID I have three TVs now in
my room, and so yes, it was on one of
the screens.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Okay, So at the last drive, it's it's you know,
they get they get the first down, so it's for
first and goal and they have four attempts to get there,
and at one point Anthony Richardson just says efitt and
he takes his playbook wristband and throws it. And no
one saw this, but he literally threw it off his
(38:10):
arm and threw it to the sideline, says I'm doing this,
And this is where he decided to run the ball
four times, three times in a row. And then ended
badly with a nasty helmet. The helmet yeah crash. So
your point is, what do you what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Like, I know you're a rookie.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
I know that you think that you have the talent
to win this game, to take this team to the
next level. But to me, that's a slap in the
face to all your coaches saying, like your offensive coordinator
being like you're calling the wrong place.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
Let me use my legs, let me win this game.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
I think had he been able to use his legs
and win the game, that'd be the first little chapter
in the book of the heroic tactic.
Speaker 1 (38:49):
That's what he was trying to do. But look how
it ended.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
I think you still want your quarterback to be that guy,
even though it's annoying sometimes. I still think you want
your quarterback to be borderline, a little two cocky, borderline,
a little too believing in himself. Because after throw an interception,
what do he wanted to do that? Like he can
go out and throw a freaking touchdown. But yes, I
could see where that would be problematic. But I didn't
see that as I guess I wasn't watching it. I had.
(39:12):
I had two thoughts it was just like one And
are you sure he wasn't like it just wasn't like itching.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
There was like no crabs in it. Or he literally
kicks something.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
See him say the f like if it's by something
like I got stunned by a b yesterday on the
golf course.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
No, he was saying, I'm gonna do this.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
And that's one thing too, is like if the defensive
seen you do that, like they'd know what you're doing.
I'm an idiot sitting at home on my couch and
I'm like, you just threw away your playbook. You're gonna
run the ball.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Well, not everybody wears a wristband, though, if they know
the plays.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
M really, I mean Tom Brady sometimes, okay, if they'd changed,
but not everybody wears a wristband all the time with
all the plays. Okay, yeah, maybe hey, maybe he had
a bug bite, Like who knows, that's my thing.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
It rubbed me the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
So I'm looking forward to seeing how he does against
the Texans.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
I think he's gonna score a lot of fantasy point.
I don't see them winning a lot of games, but
I think if you're Colts fan, you should be pumped
about the future.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Even Trevor Lawrence told him after the game though, like, yo,
you got a chill.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
Yeah, oh taking these hits all on the hits, yeah,
stay health hit Yeah. Sam said that, like you gotta
stay healthy. Yeah, like you can't take the hits.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
A lot of these guys, even Josh Allen on Monday Night,
It's like, dude, you're not even going for the first down.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
You were five yards short. You're diving.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
He's trying to jump over that. What are you doing
for me? It's gonna be the Chiefs and Jaguars. Chiefs
coming up that lost against the Lions and Jaguars they
had their moments, but still almost lost to a Colts
team that same Colt Stead. Yeah, I'm looking forward to
see it's in Jacksonville. What the Chiefs do. Chris Jones
is back, and that Jaguars offense. I mean, if they're clicking,
they're good.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
You know, mine is similar, same teams, but different things
with mine? Is about with Chris Jones announcing he's back
one year deal, How back is he? How quickly is
he backs? He's done nothing, and all of a sudden,
here you go Week two, You're dropped in do they
have him on a play count? How much does he get?
Sure you've been training, but are you game speed ready?
(41:00):
I mean, we saw a Joe Burrow. He was injured,
but he was still he's still practiced. Somebody to take
any snaps. So I'll be interested to see how much
he plays. But the Jacksonville thing, it's like Trevor Lawrence
is so close to being that next guy.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Yeah, he's a stud.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
He's so close, and you can see glimpses of just
like overall control of the game. And I think this
is the season where he either becomes that guy or
he's all just a pretty good guy. And so I'm
really looking forward to seeing what the Jaguars do. But
in that same division, it's like the Titans. Are they
gonna be good or no yet? Because that was not pretty? Nope,
that's bad. Come on, man, that's bad.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
All right.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
Now, let's get to the sit down with George Burge
and Ben Rector. It was in my house. This was
kind of just organic. We had started doing a bobbycast
like an hour before. But George is so good at golf.
He's the best golfer that I played with except for
a pro.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
He's the best golf I've ever played with.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, yeah, and I know he talked about a little bit,
but he still had like walk on and everything too.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
And yeah, he walked on a text and he's that
good yeah, which is crazy. Oh yeah, yeah, which is
just crazy to me. And I think to the fact
that he mentions it, the fact that he didn't actually
get that good until so late that he couldn't be recruited.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
So but yeah, it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (42:11):
And he walked on yourniversity of texts play with all
the team, so walk on or not, it's.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Hard to make the team. It's amazing he makes the team.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
And then we're about to work out because me, Eddie
and Rector are about to work out. So ben I
was like, I texted, just come in, come in over
here to the studio. So then we talked up on
pickleball and Rector's just like sneaky athletic. You see him
playing piano and he's got his curly, floppy hair. He
seems like an emo artist. Yeah or like but then
he's taller than you think. He's like six two, probably
(42:40):
working out, like hey, he's got muscles, man. Yeah, and
so he hopped Yeah, because he's been in the studio
once when I saw him and I was like, well
he whatever, normal, normal when you play like sports with
them or like we'll play golf. He's a really good
golf for two, he's awesome, but he's like good at
pickleball and he's just it's sneaky, sneaky athletic. You can
(43:01):
follow George on TikTok at George Burg's official follow, Ben
Ben underscore director.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
Here we all are. Here is me, Eddie, George Burge,
and Ben Rector.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
Okay, we're here with George Burge, who is the best
golfer in country music. He won't say that, and Eddie,
we have to admit too. With George that he makes
you feel like you're also good even though you're.
Speaker 7 (43:21):
Not, because he does encourage you.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
He's very encouraging.
Speaker 7 (43:24):
I remember the first time I played with George, he said, dude,
you have a great swing. And I'll never forget that.
He said that to me and he's lying, probably yeah,
he said, yeah, you.
Speaker 5 (43:32):
Almost made a hole on one the first time I
played with you.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
No, I don't remember that.
Speaker 7 (43:36):
I do, I don't remember that, but but it's funny
too with George.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Yeah, you guys played together way before, because I remember
playing with him when he was in Waterloo Revival. Yeah,
and you'd be like that George guy is really good.
Speaker 6 (43:45):
I never heard of him.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
And he almost made a hole in one when we
played at the Win. He did it to three inches.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
That I remember. Yeah, you remember that one, dude, Come on,
it was close.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
I'm not denying you.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
How do you not remember?
Speaker 7 (43:59):
I'm I would because I'm an encouraging friend. I'm sure
I posted it and I was like, but I don't.
Speaker 5 (44:02):
Remember everyone's pump up season here each other.
Speaker 7 (44:05):
Do you remember when I had a really almost holding
one where it was like half I remember all your
almost holding. This was you and me Austin Onion Creek,
and I'm sure I was like super excited for you.
I still have a picture on my phone. It was
George a quarter of a roll away from a hold
on one.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
And if that was you, I would remember that.
Speaker 5 (44:22):
This is me continuing my case of saying that you're
a good golfer. Thanks, good swing, thank you.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
But you don't remember the time that I hit the
pin on a part three and it almost dunk?
Speaker 7 (44:30):
Which one?
Speaker 2 (44:31):
So you're making that up to prove me wrong.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
No, you don't even remember me.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Think a little place called Lions, remember that, remember that
corner making up? You just don't remember it. Anyway, you're
proving my point here. Georgia golf career started where uh
I started? My first ever round was at Lions.
Speaker 4 (44:51):
Yeah yeah, hey interesting small world, almost only one place.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
Great track.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
So as like a teenager, what Yeah?
Speaker 5 (44:58):
I started playing when I was fifteen, got obsessed with it,
quit all my other sports and just started playing golf.
I would go hit range balls before school and then
go practice after school and then play thirty six every weekend,
and like it was weird, it just like it was
all I wanted to do. I loved it, loved.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
It Like now yeah, I mean now, but you're fifteen
playing golf, Like how did you even get exposed to golf?
And did you have less? I mean?
Speaker 5 (45:23):
So I had some friends on a baseball team whose
dads were a golfer and it was a Saturday and
they were like, Hey, we're going to go play Lions
with our dad. Do you want to come out with us?
And I'd never played, but I had recently found a
set of golf clubs like at a like good Will
dumpster kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Lines is a muni by the way for those lessons. Yeah,
like it's where we used to go, and people used
to get shot in the parking lot.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
That'd be a fight.
Speaker 5 (45:43):
And I have seen two guns in the Lions parking
other people. Yeah, so you're not lying.
Speaker 3 (45:50):
When did when did you start to your handout coordination?
Was it pretty good anyway?
Speaker 6 (45:54):
Were ball player?
Speaker 2 (45:55):
It was.
Speaker 5 (45:55):
Yeah, it was something that came pretty naturally to me.
I played baseball and tennis before and was you know,
I wasn't gonna go play D one baseball or tennis.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
But I was.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
I was a good player for high school and then golf.
Like the reason that I wasn't better at baseball or
tennis is because I'm really slow, and so golf, I
didn't have to run anywhere. You know, the ball stays
right there. So that was my strong suit and I
fell in love with it and ended up you know,
I got to be like competitively good by the second
(46:23):
half of my senior year. So I didn't really get
a bunch of like tournament reps to have some sort
of like recruiting career or anything like that. And so
I started to talk to colleges like the very end
of my senior year, but I knew I wanted to
go to UT anyway. So I went to UT just
academically and ended up playing in their walk on tournament.
Speaker 7 (46:42):
Every year.
Speaker 5 (46:42):
They have like kind of a it's almost ceremonial. They
almost never take walk ons, but they have a walk
on tournament where you can apply to like play thirty
six holes and if you win it, the coach will
look at you. You're not getting a.
Speaker 3 (46:52):
Spot on the team you win the whole tournament.
Speaker 5 (46:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (46:56):
So I won the tournament and I want it by
a lot, eight or ten strokes, I can't remember. And
I get a call from the head coach, which was
really cool, and he was like, hey, come out to
It was Steiner Ranch, ut Club is where the Horns practice,
and he was like, come out to sign a ranch.
He was like, there'll be a golf cart waiting for you,
put your clubs on it, come warm up, and then
(47:17):
I'm gonna watch you play eighteen holes. And it's just
me by myself in an early part barely put the
t in the ground.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Do you remember what you scored?
Speaker 5 (47:26):
I did I do? Because I uh in the tournament
front coach in the tournament. I want to say it
was like a couple under. It wasn't crazy, but it
was good enough to like, you know, do to make
some noise and so yeah, exactly, it was a scramble.
Actually yeah, but yeah. I played eighteen holes in front
(47:47):
of coach and I shot one under and he offered
me a spot on the team, which was insane because
I mean, you're talking. It's not like I just walked
on to, you know, some po dunk program. You're talking
about like the most, you know, one of the most
decorated golf programs in college. So all of a sudden,
I've got a bag with my name on it, and
(48:08):
there's prov ones in my lockers and there, like, man,
you're getting a Nike deal, so whatever you want, gloves, shirts, clubs,
like it's all freever and I'm sitting here like I
got my first set of clubs. I have a dumpster.
And I was like, when I say, barely barely good
enough to be on the team. But I made pretty
(48:30):
good grades and the golf team like had the lowest
GPA of any sports team at Texas, So I think
I helped boost that up a little bit. For coach
and they let me hang around and I had a
great time. Man, I got to play golf with Jonathan
Vegas who's currently on the pg Tour and Dylan Fertelly
who's currently on the PGA Tour, and hang out with
those guys and we're still in touch, and you know,
it was it was surreal. So the practice facility is
(48:52):
the there's the members side of the club and then
there's a team side of the club. And the team
side is you have to be a player to go
down there. There's three chipping greens, all have a different
kind of grass on them so you can prep for
a tournament. All the bunkers have a different kind of
sand on them so you can prep for your tournament.
And then there's indoor hitting bays with camera angles from
above you, to the side of you and behind you.
And then they had like a library where you could
(49:14):
like get on the computers and do homework. Pool table
anything Gatorade made, anything, Nike made, ping pong tables.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Like it was.
Speaker 5 (49:21):
It was pretty serious.
Speaker 4 (49:22):
But that's a lot to learn, right, Like you weren't
that experiencing golf, Like you were just good, but but
you didn't know different kinds of grass and how to
chip on.
Speaker 5 (49:29):
Grass and yeah, I was never lying.
Speaker 7 (49:37):
Yeah, so it's like he always had it, he just
didn't know.
Speaker 6 (49:42):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (49:42):
It was cool, man. And I had like zero pressure
because I was never, you know, threatening to be a starter.
But I had a spot on the team, so it
was like I got all the upside without really having
to grind it out. But I mean, I remember we'd
work out at the same time as a football team,
and we'd be in there doing like yoga and calisten
X while Vince was like squatting six hundred pounds, He's
(50:04):
doing jazz er size next to embarrassing.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
So did you ever get to play any tournaments?
Speaker 5 (50:11):
I didn't know. I was never a starter. I was
on the team. I was a bench warmer.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
Did you go to the tournament?
Speaker 7 (50:15):
I did?
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
What do you do if you don't get to play?
Speaker 5 (50:18):
I mean you're walking following the guys, you know, basically.
Speaker 3 (50:23):
Want vodka?
Speaker 5 (50:27):
Uh yeah, you know, you'd go follow the guys. We'd uh,
you know, sneak some beers in the hotel room. And
it was it was fun, man, it was a good time.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
That's really crazy that if you would have probably played
a year earlier. A year if you started a year earlier,
you'd have been playing while they were recruiting because you're
such a late start. Yeah, that you might have gone
and actually played.
Speaker 5 (50:49):
It could have been a totally different career path for me.
It worked out perfectly, Like I got just enough of
a great experience and like now golf has opened every
door in the world for me. You know, it's it's
such a cool game because you can meet somebody and
go spend four hours on the golf course with him,
and if you're good at it, you get invited a
lot of places, which is really cool. So like it
was the perfect experience for me. My friends that are
(51:10):
grinding and out on like the mini tours and stuff like,
it's not it's not a life that you really want.
Like the guys that are on the PGA Tour, you
top two hundred players in the world are all making
seven figures and flying private jets and everything's amazing. But
that that almost making it. Life in golf is rough.
It's rough.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
Rough.
Speaker 7 (51:26):
Would you just miss Jordan Speed?
Speaker 5 (51:28):
Yeah, I graduated the year he came got it?
Speaker 3 (51:29):
Yeah, oh you did? Was he like local? Everybody knew,
like legend everybody.
Speaker 5 (51:34):
Knew this kid coming out of Jesuit. He's a short
game like you've never seen before. And everybody before you
ever met him, and this was in high school, was
talking about his putting. They were like, you've never seen
any guy putt like this before. And then he immediately
comes out one year in college they win the national
championship and then goes to the Tour and it's winning
majors like almost instantly, and it was it was pretty
cool to watch.
Speaker 6 (51:54):
Yeah, people like him.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
I mean I know him a little bit, but yeah,
like him.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
He's a real Everybody seems to love him.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
He's not.
Speaker 3 (52:00):
He's actually really super well.
Speaker 5 (52:03):
I've we've hung out two or three times. He's always
been super cool to me. Everybody calls him Golden Boy
because he does no wrong. Everybody loves Jordan speeds Man.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
And he'll kill.
Speaker 5 (52:11):
Yeah, he was talking about he's probably my favorite player
on tour. So yeah, easy, what you say?
Speaker 3 (52:15):
The under armoured jet. He's like, man, you should be
on this thing, and I'm like, how would I ever
get on that thing? There got like a bar in there,
and they like, turn the lights on.
Speaker 7 (52:23):
You should really get on it. Jordan how am I
ever going to get on under armour jet.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
So we were playing at the wind and we're we
were doing a show together in Vegas.
Speaker 7 (52:34):
This is where I almost got a hold on one.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
I remember this.
Speaker 7 (52:37):
I don't remember.
Speaker 2 (52:38):
You're almost home.
Speaker 7 (52:39):
George remembers it, and.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
I We're like through fourteen holes or whatever, and I'm like, George,
where are you? By the way, George like, I don't know,
mine's four I'm.
Speaker 7 (52:48):
Like, what hadn't said a word about it and said anything?
Speaker 3 (52:50):
And then like it's quietly just.
Speaker 6 (52:54):
Par par par beer beer truck.
Speaker 5 (52:57):
I mean, there was a little bit of all that.
Speaker 6 (52:59):
Bert.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
It's like four under through like thirteen or fourteen.
Speaker 5 (53:02):
What an experience that was, by the way, So he.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
Does this, he already punts it away from so he's
talking about I can't.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
I can't, man, I think you're the best music.
Speaker 7 (53:13):
Golfer in Nashville because Darius doesn't live here.
Speaker 5 (53:18):
I will not says does I won't he does better
than Darius. I will say that I'm the best. I won't,
Like I can't say that, but I can say that
I would play anybody in Nashville for money.
Speaker 7 (53:27):
Yeah, wow, that's cool with strokes.
Speaker 5 (53:31):
Uh, how many strokes i'd give Darius strokes?
Speaker 6 (53:33):
Would you give me strokes?
Speaker 3 (53:34):
How many would you give me? Though I know you'd
give me some, I mean, would you give me?
Speaker 5 (53:37):
I give you three a side.
Speaker 7 (53:38):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
I played, I've seen you play. Dude's Hey, I did
beat Jake yesterday? Yeah, well I tied him, but I
got three strokes.
Speaker 7 (53:46):
What about Jake?
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (53:49):
What did you just say? You beat Jake and you
got three strokes? And Jake?
Speaker 3 (53:52):
No, no, no, I tied Jake. We tied.
Speaker 7 (53:55):
Yeah, I'm gonna write about this every day.
Speaker 5 (53:56):
Until we play.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
I just told him.
Speaker 5 (53:58):
Then there's no Ja, there's nobody that's gonna that's gonna
hurt worse than Jake. He's you know, he's stewing on that.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Yeah, we tied, we played three holes. We tied, but
he gave me three strokes. That pretty freaking cool. Let's
talk about pickleball for a second.
Speaker 6 (54:14):
So Ben, you want to hop in here? Can you
hop in?
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (54:17):
Hob in. Ben's naked.
Speaker 7 (54:19):
I don't want to make sure.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
So this is this has been this has been rectord.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
Yes here.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
We were just talking about pickleball and George says he's
really good, and I said, you now think you're really
good thoughts.
Speaker 6 (54:29):
I think I'm okay, I'm like a I'm like a
good pick up athlete.
Speaker 7 (54:33):
He's deceivingly a good athlete.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
It sucks.
Speaker 7 (54:35):
Yeah, I've heard. Yes, it's so stupid.
Speaker 5 (54:38):
I told you I can hang with anybody in golf.
I've heard he can.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
He's really good.
Speaker 5 (54:41):
Yeah, I heard he can play play.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
I'm okay, okay, and he like shouldn't be so athletic,
and like you don't think he's as tall and as
rangy as he is. But then you stand next to
him and all of a sudden, you're like, oh, you're
like six two and you're in pretty good shape, and
you move pretty.
Speaker 6 (55:00):
I have a friend who said that, I'm uh, this
is not worth I'm saying, can't remember. He's basically just like,
it shouldn't be this one.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
It shouldn't be this way. Yeah, you have everything that
I wish I did.
Speaker 6 (55:12):
I do. I do feel that I don't seem like
I would be athletic, and I kind of am.
Speaker 5 (55:18):
I feel like you are kind of underselling it right
now for him. Yeah, he's coming in with a nice tan.
The calves are kind of popping, you know.
Speaker 7 (55:24):
What I'm saying, when you get close to when you
get close to see.
Speaker 3 (55:28):
It, the first time you like sit next to him,
you're close to him, you're like, god, dang, dude, like
what because when you see him, he's like, I'm being
wrecked up a piano.
Speaker 6 (55:36):
This has been great, thanks for having.
Speaker 3 (55:38):
But then all of a sudden he's like singing like
an angel playing piano, and he's like, I'm so self deprecating.
And then he gets up and he wacks a golf
ball and now he's like playing expert pickleball.
Speaker 6 (55:48):
And so anyway, I don't think I'm that god to pickleball.
Speaker 3 (55:54):
Read the text of it.
Speaker 7 (55:55):
I'm just saying it says, quote, I'm really good.
Speaker 6 (55:57):
At a little there's a trash talk element.
Speaker 3 (56:03):
Okay, I you know, he says, it's exactly it I said,
because we're trying to pick a ball and gone or
he's been gone. He's torn like crazy doing all sold
out joes, and so how great He's like, you know,
I I said, well I'll beat you in pickleball, and
he goes, I kind of doubt it. He said, only
(56:26):
one way to find I says the great march On
Lynch One said I'm all about that action, all right.
So George, I started playing, what do you think?
Speaker 5 (56:34):
So I too thought that was really good after I
played for the first time. So I'm kind of getting
the the impression that pickleball kind of leaves you because
it's such a quick learn like there's a low barrier
to entry on pickleball. I feel like most people are
probably gonna leave thinking that they're better than they are
at it, which I would file myself under that category.
(56:55):
That being said, I want all the smoke from you guys.
Speaker 6 (56:58):
That's that's why I feel I think it's it's it's
an easy, you know, train to get on, but to
get far ahead on the trains difficult. I've been beaten
by a lot of old people, very old.
Speaker 7 (57:07):
Yeah, that's crazy that old people are really good at.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
This, kid, They're so good unimagined.
Speaker 3 (57:12):
I would even say it's a bit like golf, where
the harder you swing, you think it's better because the
ball is going to go farther. However, old people, both
golf and pickle ball, they know it's angles, it's motion.
Speaker 5 (57:27):
All right. So you guys that have been in it,
tell me like, is it are you going cross court?
Basically every time until you've got a chance for the kill.
Speaker 6 (57:34):
Or you I mean, what's a strategy and doubles, it's
just everybody run to the net. That's it.
Speaker 5 (57:40):
Whoever gets to the net first.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
That's a race.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
George, run touch the net. You went.
Speaker 7 (57:44):
It's exactly what it is. Yes, you've know the secret
of pickleball.
Speaker 6 (57:47):
I mean it's it's it's like it's like, uh, it's
like chess or something. It's like hit the deepest return
you can off the serve. Then the third shot is
to drop, and then everybody's just at the net and
you're just waiting for somebody to make a mistake.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Rector's also such a fren perfectionist, where he's like I'm
only gonna do it if I am, and so you.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
Know you hear him around.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
He's definitely he's like seventeen point twitches from the diameter.
What do you want to do is take the ball
on the eighth.
Speaker 7 (58:09):
You've been thinking about this, this is like, this is
my worst night.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
To be complimented by three dudes worshiping you for no
It's my greatest fantasy is to sit down and have
three guys tell me how great am and something. Yes,
I'm like, wow, this is like a porn except there's
no sex.
Speaker 7 (58:27):
I'm just you guys are just telling me how great
my calves are.
Speaker 3 (58:30):
Okay, we're done, George, thank you. I don't even know.
Speaker 7 (58:37):
Oh did you know?
Speaker 3 (58:38):
I tried to bring Ben on this show. We've been
done like two shows here Ben. I tried to bring
Ben on the show because Ben is again he's so
well spoken, he's so smart. He knows a ton about sports.
But it'll be like I don't know anything about sports,
but he does. And I was like, you should do
this show.
Speaker 6 (58:51):
Ween.
Speaker 3 (58:52):
We first gonna watch. It's gonna be US three. And
Ben's like, ah, he was with it till the day
before we started.
Speaker 2 (58:59):
What happened then?
Speaker 3 (58:59):
Hell me and checking out because he's like, I don't
feel like I can do a good enough job.
Speaker 6 (59:03):
My real answer is I was like, and you were great.
You were like, dude, you don't need to just show up,
just like do your thing. And I was like, my
thing is like I worry a lot about stuff.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
And I like want to do this specialty worrying.
Speaker 6 (59:16):
It's like I'm going to be like, Okay, I gotta
watch like every game. I want to have good stuff
to say, like I have to I have to do this,
and I was just like, you know, I was going
into a season of like shows and stuff where I
was like trying to figure out how to better have
like boundaries and be like, hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna
be off right now. And I was like, there's no way.
(59:37):
I wish I had the thing. It's just like show
up and be like I don't know, man, I'm just
like feeling this out. And instead i'd be like making notes.
It's like I can't be making notes right now. I
gotta be like home, I gotta like relax and just chill.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
Out like you and taking notes.
Speaker 6 (59:50):
I would I'd be like, I'd be like, okay, so well,
like the last Coach, the Coach here.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
Like we're not trying to break down the three four
that I know, but I.
Speaker 6 (59:58):
Would I don't know how to I don't know how
not to do well.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
Anyway. We've come rich because of the show. And I
tell him all that.
Speaker 6 (01:00:04):
Anytime he's like I'm like I can't do something, I
gotta go to the show. He's like, you know, like
you could have just probably retired if you've done the show.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Whistles.
Speaker 7 (01:00:11):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
You gotta do nothing like that, all right, George, go
to see you buddy. Hey, thanks Ben, Glad you hopped
in by.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Yeah, thanks Ben.
Speaker 7 (01:00:18):
Ben.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
It's like this is miserable.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
It's like the great Yes, it's like the reverse of
a rose. It's like he died.
Speaker 7 (01:00:25):
He didn't write notes for the show, so he didn't
come with notes. Okay, all right, thank.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
You, all right, that's it. Thank you guys. We've enjoyed
this episode of twenty five Whistles fun. It's a great
first week. I always, like, I think in this segment,
want to think about anything we didn't address, because sometimes
I'll finish a show and go, oh god, I forgot
to mention it. We have an episode of too Much
Access up of us at Vanderbilt, who are two and one.
Speaker 1 (01:00:50):
Man, if they win another game, they were three and one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Let's go no the favorite of this week.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
That's the TMA reverse curse.
Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
I mean, dude, when we show up to these campuses,
sometimes there are seasons to get turned around.
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Why you weren't a glove from South Carolina?
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
Stall, It's just the one I found and I found
out that when I hold this microphone with this glove.
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
You don't hear it. You haven't dropped the microphone either. One.
Speaker 1 (01:01:09):
Not only is it a.
Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Great receiver, glove, it's a good podcast microphone.
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
You have not dropped it. I noticed how sure handed
you were.
Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
What I'm saying, your hand looks so much bigger than
I love. The real story though, is I tried to
give it to my son.
Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
He didn't want it.
Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
He didn't want your South Carolina football. No, he said, Dad,
what don't I gonna do with one glove? I'm like,
it's memorabilia.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Uh hag.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
I was like, don't worry, this will be my now
microphone podcast glove.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
I think that's amazing. Thanks Kevin, anything we forgot for me.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
We touched on the game a little bit, obviously, but
it's Aaron Rodgers. But Josh Allen last night just look
like he's taking a step backwards, which is wild. He
looks like Week one, I know, but week one still
coming off of last year. He had kind of a
down year compared to the year before without day ball,
and he hid a lot in the preseason too. He
just looks like he's trying to score one hundred points
on every play.
Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
I hear, dude, you got to chill week one after
week three, if we're still feeling that way out of
two or other three weeks, then and I will give
you the satisfaction of going, Okay, I felt that. I'm
gonna jump on that too right now, no satisfaction.
Speaker 1 (01:02:04):
I got some room over here.
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
It's week one.
Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Everybody relaxed. He's been playing for a while now, he
should know how to play.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
Last year, the second half of last year, he was
he's got the most turnovers here? Yes he is?
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
Hey, is that body failing a little bit?
Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
And look at his hat? What's his hat?
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
Say?
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Bill's Patriots?
Speaker 7 (01:02:22):
Oh what?
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Even Josh Allen? I'm like, oh no, he's a Pats fan.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
Obviously he's going to have his allegiances and his disallegiances.
Speaker 6 (01:02:30):
It's just this happened.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
This is what I see. I like Josh Allen. He's like, Josh,
is he three inches shorter this year?
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
No, he's not.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
Remember week one last year I was saying on this podcast,
I think where I was like, Okay, it came over
any quarterback right now and here we are year later,
totally end the game.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
That's it, Mike, don't forget anything, you got everything.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Thank you all.
Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
We will be doing some of the show next week
from the car. What well, we're going to do too
much access and so we're in the car for like hour.
That's what it was fun. Do you like, like, is
that an efficiency for you or is that like, uh,
at first it was at first it was just efficiency,
But I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Yeah, it's kind of a cool feel because.
Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
It's not the whole show and sometimes it's kind of
behind it and sometimes we're a little looser, a little drunk,
you know. So it's it's both, but I think mostly
I like it because it's just different. Un So, all right,
that's it, Thank you guys. We'll see you on Friday,
Mike Friday, Friday.
Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
Al right, bye body,
