Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio. It is hard to.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Believe that I was in this exact chair ten days
ago on a meet Friday, and we were talking with
Steve Levy, the ESPN hockey play by play guy, he
does the studio stuff, and we were talking about how
disappointing it was that the Panthers were up three to

(00:29):
zero and that it might be a sweep. I made
the first ever hockey prediction of my life, I believe,
ten days ago and said, I predict that the Oilers
win game for because remember we were talking about whether
we thought the Mavericks or the Oilers would be able

(00:50):
to win a game.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
They both won a game, and then the Oilers just kept.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Winning and winning, and now we have a game seven tonight,
which might be as cool as anything in sports.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
So it's up everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Ross Tucker back in the big chair, filming in for Dan.
The next couple days, he's on a family vaca. So
you got meathead James Vanderbeek with you, whether you're on
the Fox Sports Radio affiliates, you're watching us on Peacock.
Hopefully my mother in law was able to find me
on Peacock I know she wanted to check it out.
You can also always check out our YouTube channel. You

(01:27):
can go to Danpatrick dot com. We're at DP show
on Twitter, I'm at Ross Tucker NFL on every social
media platform.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Love those of you that check.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Us out later via podcast if you can't listen or
watch the whole thing, I got one of those as well.
It's called the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. But we're not
talking about football right now, although we will, by the way.
We'll talk a little bit about football with my guy
Greg Cosel from NFL Films. Our number two and then
our number three. We'll have an excellent hockey guest thanks

(01:59):
to Fritz, who, by the way, is elite, absolutely elite
at what he does.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
I don't know if people realize that. I know he
gets a lot of flak, but he is.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
It's Jason de Meyers will join us, which is perfect,
by the way, because he's from Canada but not Edmonton.
He's an analyst for NHL Network. He's played seven hundred
games in the NHL. But he's the perfect guy to
ask whether or not every single Canadian is rooting for

(02:33):
the Oilers to.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Night, which, by the way, I just thought of this.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I bet you there are Canadians not rooting for the
Oilers tonight because they're jealous or it's their rival or whatever.
But I'm pretty sure almost every American is rooting for
the Oilers other than people in South Florida.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Is there a higher percentage.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Of Americans rooting for the Oilers tonight than there are
Canadians rooting for the Oilers tonight?

Speaker 4 (03:02):
PAULI, yeah, I think you might be right, because we're
rooting for sports history. Even if you're casual about hockey,
you're tuning in to see great comebacks like the Oilers
go down in history, all sports history. If they win tonight, right,
you're tuning in for sports history, not necessarily the hockey.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
So for me, interestingly, I do think it'd be cool
if the Oilers.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Won because of that. It's only happened one other time.
It was the nineteen forty two Toronto maple Leaf, so
it's been eighty two years. It's insane, right, It's crazy
what could happen. But I honestly, in situations like this,
I usually think of it from the fans perspective. If
the Oilers win tonight, Edmonton will go absolutely bonkers for

(03:50):
weeks and it will be the biggest thing other than
getting married or the birth of their children for all
million people that live at Edmonton since Gretzky left.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
What like late eighties?

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Was that late eighties after the Oilers beat my Flyers
in the mid eighties, Still upset about that, Tim Kurbrian
prop Those are like my glory days as a as
a hockey guy. But honestly, I am rooting for the
people of Canada in general, but Edmundton in particular, because
it would mean so much to them if the Panthers

(04:27):
win tonight. All I can think about in my head
is Fritzy last week when you guys are talking about
wiffle ball in California, Sun California.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
And all I can think. I know Florida and California
aren't the same, but when I think of the Florida
Panthers in South Florida winning tonight, I think of Fritzy
boys like, oh wow, that's cool, we won the Cup.
That's cool.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Does Florida have an accent South Florida not Panhandle?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
I don't think Florida does have an axc think so
I couldn't put my finger around it.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
If you ask to be to.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Okay, I have a question about that.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
By the way, you know how when you talk to
anybody from Georgia or Mississippi or Alabama, they have a
Southern accent. Okay, what happened that you lose the Southern
accent if you keep driving further south? Like we all agree,

(05:24):
there's like a block of sixties basically the SEC right,
most of the SEC teams, you talk to somebody from there,
they have a distinct Southern accent. Why when you keep
driving south on ninety five or whatever, why do the
people in Florida not have an accent? That makes no sense, PAULI.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Okay, I just did some quick research, which means the
basic research. They said, because of so many people from
the North moving to South mid and South florida're in
the thirties and onward, that diluted all Southern accents in Florida,
which it makes there's Cleveland, there's Chicago, there's New York.
Anyone in the Central America, Central United States and northern

(06:06):
United States moved to Florida, which dead in all Southern
accents in that area.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Two things, I'm gonna go to Seaton real quick, but
two things. One is you can always give us a
call on this topic or more if you have an
opinion at eight seven seven three DP show number two.
This is why when I tell people this is like
my favorite thing to do.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
We had no idea this is going to come up.
We had no idea we were going to ask if
there's a Florida accent that was not in the meeting.
I don't know if we video the whole meeting, but
that was not part of its seaton.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
So Florida is probably the only state in the Union
that the further north you drive, the further south you are.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
It's true.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
I did a game a few years ago at Florida
State in Tallahassee, and I thought I was in Alabama.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Like I was like, this is Florida.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Because if you're from the northeast like I am, the
only time you go to Florida is like a vacation
on the beach in South Florida, or you go to
Disney World. I was in what is that northwestern Florida
where Tallahassee is. I was like, I think this is

(07:19):
like southern Alabama. It's like Jacksonville feels like southern Georgia
a little bit, right.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah, the Panhandle, like Destin and Panama City and Tallahassee
all feel like southern Alabama southern Georgia for sure. That's
why Florida State always felt when they were at their best,
they felt like an SEC school.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
I guess I'm happy for the I mean, the Panthers
have been around for a while, so I guess I'm ready.
I'm happy for the diehard Panthers fans of the last
thirty years, because it probably isn't that easy to just
all of a sudden get season tickets and be a
die hard hockey fan in South How many people in

(08:01):
South Florida that are Panthers fans? You think are from
the Northeast and just loved hockey because they're from.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
New York and they were Rangers fans or Islanders.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Fans, Or do those people still like the Rangers and Islanders?
And are the Panthers fans just actual people that are
born and raised in South Florida.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
I got an article from Sports Business Journal from like
back in ninety three to ninety four, when the Florida
Panthers were opened up shop. They were taking advantage of
the people from the north who don't have hockey, and
they knew there'd be a great fan base for this,
so maybe the first few years it was a novelty.
But like you said, we're at you're thirty thirty one
with the Panthers. If you're fifty years old in Florida,

(08:42):
you could you could have had season tickets for twenty
twenty five years down there. They're established. It's not like
they've been there eight years, right, so their fan base
is long term, somewhat long term.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I don't want to make an assumption here, but are
you guys all rooting for the Oilers tonight? I would
love to hear from a caller or someone on social
media at Ross Tucker, NFL at some point at DP
show casual fan are there any American casual fans, non

(09:14):
Florida Panthers fans that are rooting for the Panthers tonight?
And if you are, why are you from Saint Louis
and Chickuck's your brother? Like I mean, like, I just
don't see how you do that.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
It goes back to a series like the Red Sox
Yankees for ALCS. I was not a fan of either team,
but once the Red Sox made the comeback, you want
to see history finished. I think as a casual sports fan,
tonight you want to see because at the Oilers win tonight,
they will be on those lists forever of greatest comeback
in sports. Never forget the Oilers in twenty twenty four,

(09:51):
blah blah blah that they have sports immortality beyond hockey.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Tonight, well, here's what I would say. So, so I'm
filling in tomorrow again, and I'll be for three hours.
If the Oilers win tonight versus if the Panthers win tonight,
the difference in how much we talk about it is significant.
If the Oilers win tonight, it'll be I don't know,
a third of the show tomorrow, a quarter of the show.

(10:18):
If the Panthers win, I feel like it's it's less
than that. I mean, it's great for the Panthers, and
I'm happy for those guys. And because it's so funny
because we talk about this as if like all the
guys for the Oilers are from Edmonton and all the
guys for the Panthers are from Miami.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
It couldn't further be the.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Case, right, It's absolutely not the case whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
So anyway, there's a lot to get to there.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
I'm really looking forward to it, and in fact, speaking
of what I'm looking forward to, are you ready for
a new job, let's Express Employment Professionals help. Express is
hiring for jobs and a variet industries and job seekers.
Never pay a fee at Express. Check out expresspros dot
com to find your location. That's expresspros dot com. It's

(11:12):
kind of wild and may be a little bit sad
that it's not the only Winner take All game tonight.
We got the College World Series as well. Between Texts
A and M and Tennessee Game three Winner take All.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
We I feel like, if you are.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
The worldwide leader, can't you can't you bump one of
these to tomorrow night?

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I mean, we got the NBA Draft for Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
If I ran the worldwide leader, I'd be like, listen, uh,
Text A and M. Tennessee, you guys, your fans are
gonna stay. They're partying in Omaha anyway. They're going to
the bar with Peyton Manning. They're doing this bo We're
gonna bump you guys to Tuesday, so everybody watches. I'm
kind of annoyed that they're both tonight at the same time.

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Fritzy or can't you I know, time zone wise, especially
our friends in Texas wouldn't love it. But what about
a five pm starts? You have five and eight instead
of seven and eight and spread it out. So hopefully
the baseball game is just about over when the hockey
games cann start. But I do know that's four pm
Central time, and one of the teams, obviously is the Aggies.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
That's kind of tough.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
So that would be great for us, which wet, But
the people in California at two pm, they still have
to be at work.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
They can't what They're at work till five, so they
can't watch any of it. Yeah, but they're used to that.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
They got pregame NFL things at eight and nine in
the morning, they kick off at ten am. Everything that's
on the weekend, true, but still they're used to games
being on a lot.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Of what do they say in the morning when they
wake up?

Speaker 6 (12:43):
Fritzy, I can't believe that what happened was that I
got a chance to see the whole double ahead of
it because it's a day our time there.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
It's great. What is it, Eyler? Anyway? I thought that
was a football team. Aryl Campbell play, Oh Campbell played hockey.
I don't know if that was Thursday. No, it was Thursday.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
I think you guys were talking about this because I
almost pulled over twice. I was laughing so hard from Fritzyball.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
We don't talk like that, by.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
The way, all I can think about to Frizzy while
you were saying that you guys ever played courtball.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
With like a tennis ball.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
None of you guys know what courtball is. Courtball is
better than wiffleball. Courtball, I don't know courtball. It's the
same bat. It's the same thin yellow bat. But you
play in a tennis court, and it's incredible because you
have the bases like you have. You have to have
multiple tennis courts. It can't just be one tennis court

(13:46):
absolutely played, so it's I think I think growing up
we had maybe three tennis courts, so you had the bases, okay,
but then you can hit home runs out of the park.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
It was incredible because there was a fence around the whole.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Tens are usually higher at tennis courts too, right.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
I was like a camp counselor when I was in
high school and summer after freshman year, I couldn't have
had more fun playing court ball with the little kids.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
And just rocking home runs off of them and then
taunting them Johnny, don't test me, Johnny. And the fielders
have to navigate around the nets to make a play.
How does that work? Do you take the nets down
or the nets are up? Now the nets are there,
the nets stay in. It's a natural. Yeah, it's like
a natural. Just run right into the nets going after

(14:36):
a ball. It doesn't it doesn't hit the net as
much as you would think, but it's like anything else,
it's just part of the game.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
You just get used to playing off the net, if
that makes sense. The ball doesn't hit the net that much.
It's a lot of home runs or a lot of
off the fence. It's actually pretty awesome, just like it's
awesome all this stuff we had this weekend. How about
Scottie Scheffler winning the Travelers in a playoff.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
And then there's a lot of really cool.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Country events, you know, you know, the Olympic Trials, the Euros,
the Copa America. I am ten times more interested in
sports like that if it's country versus country and there's
national pride as I am in the professional like I

(15:26):
don't have a I don't care that much about the
professional teams in other countries. But if it's Spain against Portugal,
I am in. I am in on Spain Portugal. If
it's I mean see and you would know real Madrid
against whoever. Portugal is like I don't really care, you
know what I mean, Like, it's gotta be for your country.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
And I saw this video it's Germany France A right, Yes.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
I saw this video of Portugal.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
There was like every person in the whole country of
Portugal was marching down.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
This one technically not true.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
It was unbelievable. Yeah, here's the thing. Do we have
a fact checker here? Because if it's a non football topic,
we might need a fact checker for some of the
things that I say on the show. It's gonna be fun.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
By the way, Greg Cotel ten, twenty Eastern Time, NFL Films,
Jason Demerez from NHL Network, the top of the final hour.
A lot of hockey talk, a lot of Game seven talk,
a lot of stuff we didn't get into yet. We
had Sky versus Fever. We've got a couple interesting pitching
things schemes as well as Diaz get suspended.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
Just getting started here. It is seventeen minutes past the
hour on a Monday edition of The Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 7 (16:55):

couldn't be more excited to bounce a podcast called Up
on Game?

Speaker 3 (17:02):
What is Up on Game?

Speaker 7 (17:03):

Zada and Super Bowl champion Yup. That's right, Plexico Burris.

talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be

You guys are awesome. I ask can you deliver in
terms of who you're rooting for tonight? Just checking out
the social media? Hit us up at DP show on
Twitter at Ross tuck Re NFL also want to talk
to you on the phone lines at eight seven seven to.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Three DP show.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
In particular, By the way, if you're a Canadian listener
but you're not in Edmonton, we want to talk to
non Edmonton, non Edmonton's and Alberta, right, non Alberta Canadian callers.
Or if you're a true original, diehard Panthers fan and

(18:16):
you can prove it, we want to hear from you.
I'm actually surprised looking at my social media, looking at
Twitter or ex whatever we're calling it. Thomas c. K says,
I'm cheering for the Panthers because of Bob. Former Flyer
netminder Chas Mosby says, not an oiler fan, just don't

(18:37):
want to see Canada take the cup back. USA hockey
is do or die. Scott Hurd says I'm a San
Jose Sharks fan, but I'm rooting for Panthers because of
the new Captain America in Matthew Chiricook and the Dan
Lebottard Show.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Today might be their last show.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Zach Paulvino says, a lot lot of Buffalo Sabers fans
rooting for Florida night a lot of former Sabers players
on Florida's roster, so evidently there are reasons to be
rooting for the Panthers tonight. Not me, man, I am
all in on the Oilers. In fact, if I was
like a crazy rich guy, which I'm not, this would

(19:21):
be the type of night that if the Oilers won,
I want to like hop on the private jet and
go to Edmonton for the next couple of days. Can
you even imagine what it's gonna be up like up
there for the next couple of days. There's no way
people have to work tomorrow at Edmonton if they win tonight, right,
I mean they even make They're so nice up there.
They're don't make you call in stick right like I understand, Fritzy.

(19:42):
Do you have a Canadian accent?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (19:44):
Not really, That's the best I can give you.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Again, Eh we go in?

Speaker 6 (19:49):
Eh?

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Is that Minnesota? I don't even know what I'm doing.
They're related, There's like there's a little bit of relation there,
all right, So let's talk. Here's why. I've seen multiple
people say that this is the biggest.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Stanley Cup Final game ever. Now that sounds like hyperbole,
let me give you some numbers. It's the first time
a team has come back from three to zero to
force a Game seven since nineteen forty five. We all

(20:27):
know that no Canadian team has won the Cup in
thirty one years, and there hasn't even been a game
seven period since twenty nineteen. You combine those three numbers,
I think you can make an argument that this is
the most important, most impactful Stanley Cup Final. By the way,

(20:49):
I'm going to combine those three right there. I think
I think I want to make that Marvin and Paul,
I think I want to make that this start of
the day, those three things combined stat.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Of their day, stat of the day, best stat of
the day, stat of the day.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Here it comes that what stat of the.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Day, stat of the day brought to you by Panini America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. I mean,
does anybody want to argue, maybe on social media, maybe
you give us a go. Anyone want to argue.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
That they can think of a more important Stanley Cup
Final game right now?

Speaker 4 (21:29):
PAULI, I think if I were a hockey truist, I
may say a certain matchup of a great you know,
classic hockey franchises would be a better Stanley Cup Final.
But if the Oilers win, this becomes sports historical, where
again they'll be treated differently than a normal Stanley Cup win.
It won't be treated It'll be compared to the Red
Sox and four, It'll be compared to, you know, the

(21:51):
great twenty eight to three Patriots versus the Falcons. It'll
be compared to those type of comebacks, which makes it
gives it more legs going forward.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Which is a whole thing. Right. Is it a comeback
or a collapse. It's always a combination of both.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
But New York Tonight's game will determine I feel like
whether or not we'd frame it more as a comeback
or more as a collapse.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
Marv, you know what, the nineteen ninety four Stanley Cup
Final Game seven, the Rangers versus the Canucks. Messia guaranteed
that they'd win Game seven, and up until that point,
the Rangers hadn't won a title in like fifty plus years.
And I only remember that because I was a kid
living here in Connecticut and it was a really big deal.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
That was a huge deal. Yeah, the Rangers and.

Speaker 8 (22:32):
The Knicks were both in the finals in ninety four,
and so it was everywhere, So I remember that specifically.
But obviously I'm not a hockey guy either, but just
from personal experience that was a big one too, no question.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
The other thing is, do you think because it's a
game seven, it's more impactful than a one off? Meaning
is a Game seven a bigger deal than a Super
Bowl or a Final four back basketball championship, college hoops
or even like a World Cup match is because they've

(23:06):
been playing against each other for six games already in
a series, does that make the game seven, the ultimate
winner takes all a bigger deal than if it's just
two teams playing each other because they're both championship games.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
PAULI, Yeah, exactly what you're saying. Like, if you compare
this to the Patriots versus the Falcons, imagine at the
end of the third quarter, as the Patriots are doing
the comeback, they take a two day break for us
to anticipate the fourth quarter. We've had since Friday. We've
had the entire weekend to salivate for this Monday night matchup.
You get game seven, but you get days to prepare
to tune in and publicize seaton.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
But I don't know if I look at it like
that though, because imagine if in that Patriots Falcons game,
the Patriots had that comeback and that wasn't Game seven,
it was game one. It's like, okay, well, good comeback.
See again. Next time we're gonna go to jump to
game two and then see what happens there, and then
see what happens game four. I think I think the
one game is much more, uh.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Is much better than well so a game seven, though,
has the build up to get there, and it's like,
you accomplish something in the series just to get it
to three three game seven, and you've been building towards it.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
Yes, se isn't that what you did the whole season
in the whole playoffs too, Yeah, build towards this one thing. Okay,
you get to win tonight.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Not all right?

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Hey you know what those seven game series, guys, we
could still get back in this, you know what I mean.
It's like, I get that Game seven you had to
each one three, but you just spent the whole season
and now a whole playoffs doing that.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Is one bigger than the other? Or is it six
and one hand half dozen the other? Fritzy, I think
it's kind of six and one half a dozen to
the other. I understand scene's point. I totally agree.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
If someone had a great Game one or Game five,
it's not a deciding game. It's not in sports lore
anymore because that wasn't for the championship. There's another if
it has a tomorrow, it makes that game not as special.
So I and you're already forcing a game seven with
the Super Bowls, and I think it has to be
a deciding game. I know it's great to have to
build up in what happened in game two and this

(25:09):
one got in a fight with this one in game five,
but you know, it's got to be a deciding game, Paul.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
That could be debunked, though normally, I think Fritzy's totally right.
Game seven is where you make history. But if you
go back to the eighty eight World Series, the Dodgers
versus the Oakland A's Kirk Gibson's home run off Dennis Eckersley,
that was game one.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Well how about Mets Red Sox eighty six, the Buckner
game Game six? There's still another game, but they still
had to play Game seven. If you ask someone casually,
Kirk Gibson, yeah, he hit the walk off home run
to win the World Series.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
That was game one. But it's the most memorable play
of that series, and it happened in game one, but
it's set the tone.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
By the way, the whole expression six in one hand,
half dozen the other. We're talking about eggs, right, What
are we talking about there?

Speaker 3 (25:50):
That's what I always thought. Can it be anything or
is it eggs?

Speaker 6 (25:53):
I guess you could probably put any item six of
one thing, and if it does the other way, they
cancel each other out.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
But can you can can anybody? Can any of us
hold six eggs in the hand? Is that pretty easy?
We're doing that thing today. I don't know that I
can hold six eggs in my hand.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
You have the biggest hands on the room, clearly.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
I don't know that that's the case. First of all,
I have average hands. I'm out, we know that already.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
More.

Speaker 5 (26:17):
I don't know that I'm far behind you there, Mark,
But I.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Would just say someone came up with that expression six
and one hand, half dozen the other and nobody. Not
many people can actually get six eggs in their hands.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
I think four would be the max in this room.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Well, and how do you get it without cracking the one?
You know?

Speaker 2 (26:33):
I remember remember Ben McDonald, the baseball pitcher. There was
like a I think he was on the cover of
Sports illustrated he could like hold six baseballs or something
crazy in his hand, that's how big his hand was. Again,
was not expecting to come up with this topic. But
I was expecting to go to Vicky, who's in Boca

(26:54):
at eight seven, seven to three DP show.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
What's up? Vicky? Please tell me you're a die hard
lifelong Panthers fan.

Speaker 9 (27:02):
Yes, good morning, Yes, absolutely original fan. Back in the
day when they were in it against the Avalanche. I
stood in line the original way you'd get tickets to
ticket Master, stood in line with my son in a
car seat, stood in line for the tickets, got the
two tickets the home game. You know, we got blown out,

(27:23):
of course, but I saw the Cup. It was awesome.
You know, here we are years later, but you know
I got to say, you know, I got to think
that Scott Melanbie Van Beusbrook, Joveanowski, those guys got to
be in the house tonight. You know, they got to
be saying, you know, you got to win it tonight,
and I think they're going to win it. I got
to right behind them. There's so many people down here

(27:45):
that are die hard just right along with me. You know,
we've been following them along last year this year, I mean,
it's been great. It's been really fun to just come
along with them for the ride, and it's been fun.
And there's so many people, as you say, coming back
to the accent, there's so many people down here from
everywhere that you couldn't possibly capture one accent for the

(28:06):
state of Florida. There's so many people even from South
America and Central America that you couldn't possibly capture one
accent for everything.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Oh, VICKI, I have a question for you real quick.
I'm gonna keep you on here for a second.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
We are all rooting for Edmonton because it's a better story,
because Canada hasn't had it in thirty one.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Years, the history.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Is there anything you can say to me, the dan Nettes,
the five hundred radio stations, Peacock, everybody listening or watching
right now. Is there anyway I want you to give
us your best pitch for why we should actually root
for the Florida Panthers instead of the Edmonton Oilers.

Speaker 9 (28:48):
Man, that's a tough one. I mean, you gotta.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Admit high stump, high stumpter, go ahead, Vikim.

Speaker 9 (28:57):
This team plays hard and they play in your face.
You gotta have a lot of respect for a team
that's played really hard and in your face all season long,
and if they can follow that up tonight, then man,
you gotta stand up and shake their hand and go
good game.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
All right, Vicky, thank you for the call on a
can I talk trying to say sail and scale on
a scale of one to ten, what would you grade
Vicki's sales job, Pauli.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Yeah, she balked on that one even did the big setup.
You gave her a chance to think it through. She
could have just said, oh, I guess you guys don't
like America and drop the phone. She could have gone, oh,
that would.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Have been a good one. Right. If you're gonna say,
if you're gonna sell me on the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Night, you have to you have to go to National Pride, right, Like,
why do you want Canada win?

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Because it also does make it? Is it better or
worse for the NHL if Edmonton wins?

Speaker 4 (29:53):
Oh, better crosses over? It crosses over for Daan.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Yeah, but then you still have that every year you
have that ken a Canadian team in it. Whatever, Marv,
I'm not feeling her sales job there, No, I'm about
to go with a three three out of.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
Ten seating, Yeah, maybe a four and a half.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
No, it's it's lower than that because if you if
you're ever selling in life, if you're ever selling in life,
you don't start with Yeah, that's a tough one.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
I know.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
There's a lot of guys listening right now, better sales
guys and gals that they're driving their next account. They're
driving for their next sale. Try this one. Walk in there,
like I gotta set a white wild what are they
called white wall tires?

Speaker 7 (30:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Remember Chris, why should I buy the white wall tires. Yeah,
it's a tough one coming there.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
I got the best mufflers, remember Chris Farley and Tommy
Boys Like nope, oh so good, it is so good.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Maybe somebody on some you know and even the people
that are saying on social media at DP show at
Rostock NFL that they're rooting for the Panthers, it's because
like there's.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Former guys from their team that are on that team.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Now you know the guy that said that, you know
a lot of former Sabers or you know, playoff Bob,
the goal used to be with the Flyers, which is interesting,
by the way, I guess I appreciate the loyalty of
those fans to the players that they used to cheer for.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Pauli and also, I think you could casually change who
you're rooting for if you're not invested in either of
these teams. When I was watching Patriots Falcons, I wanted
the Falcons to win that Super Bowl because it was original.
The Patriots had won a bunch the Falcons never won.
They were winning, But once the Patriots were closing in
on a lead, I started wanting to see history. I
wanted to see them complete the comeback out of just

(31:58):
sports history.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
No, okay, is that a sports history thing? Or is
it you're the producer of a three hour radio show
and you want to have a better topic the next day.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Very fair?

Speaker 3 (32:09):
That sounds selfish, it yes, yeah, it is. It's selfish.

Speaker 4 (32:13):
But I think if I was a casual fan, I
probably would have rooted more for the Falcons to hold
onto the lead. But once they gave it up, you're like,
oh my gosh, they're going to complete these acts. You
can dine out on it for years.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
Court Ball sounds like wiffle ball. For the elite to
have tennis courts, it was like a park, and most
part it was a public park with three three like
bad green tennis courts. That's not elite Seaton.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Yeah, and it's like most of the parks that when
I grew up, nobody played tennis on them.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
They were empty.

Speaker 5 (32:48):
Yeah, yeah, twenty four hours a day, and when you
did see somebody playing tennis would be like, what are
they doing playing tennis?

Speaker 3 (32:55):
That's such a great point.

Speaker 5 (32:57):
They were always empty.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
All right, I'm loving these calls. I'm loving these topics.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
We've got Greg Cosell coming up at ten twenty pm
or am Eastern time in about forty minutes. We also
got to get the best and worst of the weekend.
We can hear that from you guys as well, and

Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Play this is the play of the day.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Check this out.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Park Golf, had it lost it?

Speaker 3 (33:41):
You've got an empty nt.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
Ryan McLeod to Ceial it cater store.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
There will be a.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Game seven of the Stanley Cup Final Monday night at
Sunrise beat the Top.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Floor, Florida.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
That was Ryan McLeod scoring a goal the Oilers a
They defeated the Panthers to force tonight's Game seven. McCleod
had three goals in three postseasons thirty two games prior
to this year.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
He scored three in the last four games of the
Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers have scored five or more
goals in each of the last three games. They are
filling it up.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
The last four teams to score five plus goals in
three consecutive games of a Stanley Cup Final all went
on to win the Cup. That was courtesy of AM
six thirty, the Oilers Radio network and the Player of
the Day. Play of the Day comes from tire rack
dot com, the official tire expert and retailer of the

(34:46):
Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Go to tire rack dot com slash Dan, try the Tire.

Speaker 2 (34:52):

Tire rack dot Com. The way tire buying should be,
This is the way sports should be. This is the
way hockey should be. What are the poll questions?

Speaker 5 (35:13):
See, we got two of them up there right now.
Who are you rooting for tonight? Florida Edmonton? And who
is losing? Game seven? Is worse tonight for who? Florida
or Edmonton?

Speaker 3 (35:24):
I wonder what the prices are.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Like, I saw on the news or somewhere there's a
bunch of Edmonton people flying down to Florida, which makes
a lot of sense.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Back by the way, is like an eight hour flight.
I saw that more than you think.

Speaker 5 (35:40):
Edmonton's further west than you realize.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Yes, I saw this. I saw that on social media
over the weekend. It's an almost eight hour flight.

Speaker 4 (35:49):
That is far Paulie, I got a lot of tickets.
I'm on vivid seats. I got tons and tons of
tickets available tonight. The lowest get in price for tonight
those those okay, give you? Are you the spot nose
it section three thirteen, row fifteen. That's almost as far
back as you could be in the corner.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Okay, So that's like the get in price.

Speaker 4 (36:09):
That's the lowest price to get in.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
Hey, let's guess, okay. I love games like this. Fritzy
eight hundred and twenty five dogs Seaton.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
I'm gonna go more reasonable. I'm gonna go to twenty five.

Speaker 3 (36:23):
So we have eight What what'd you say, Fritzi?

Speaker 2 (36:26):
Eight twenty five twelve, eight twenty five twelve and Seaton
went to twenty five.

Speaker 5 (36:33):
I think that's what I said, all right, Marv five
point fifty?

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Oh man, Marv.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
I wanted you to go high or low so I
could try to do like the price is right thing?
Oh sorry, sorry, one dollar all right, So I'm gonna go.
I don't think it's as high as Fritzi said. I'm
gonna go What'd you say, Marv?

Speaker 4 (36:56):
Five point fifty? I'm going five forty nine the lowest,
the lowest price to get in tonight. I got two seats,
but each seat is eight hundred and ninety three bucks
to get in the bill of wow, and that's the cheapest.
There's a bunch of that nine hundred thousand range. They're
all nose bleeds, all right. Now, how about this n thousand,
nine hundred thousand, all right? The best seat in the

(37:18):
house that's available tonight. I got a corner front row,
four seats together on the glass good old section one
oh five someone some guys giving it up. That's sad uh.
The highest priced four tickets. If you want it all four,
you gotta buy all four together. What's it going to
cost you? Let's go closest to the hall, four against

(37:41):
it together, four against the glass.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Fritzy, you go first again, you nailed the last one.
I'm gonna say that. That is.

Speaker 6 (37:49):
Seven six hundred and twenty eight dollars for four tickets for.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
The four not the single fritzy. Math is not your
strong suit. Go ahead, see it's eight hundred. It's almost
nine hundreds to it in. And then you think four
of the best eleven total. No, you don't get eleven thousand.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
No, you lose, sir, you lose.

Speaker 6 (38:08):
Jacer you're stole bizzy, lifting drinks, pumped your head on
the ceiling.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
Which has to be what cetera, et cetera.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
You lose.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
You get nothing but Dacer, nothing, the very.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Busy man, good Dacer.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Four against the glass seed say forty five thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Okay, Marv thirty three thousand dollars. I'm gonna go thirty
two thousand, ninety nine.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Okay, Marv is closest four against the glass thirty six
hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Oh, I should have gone the other way.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
But if you think about it, if no, if you
could give it up that one time and they win,
you're a Panthers fan.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
Are those the best seats in hockey? Is that?

Speaker 4 (38:57):
This?

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Is that the seat you would definitely want? Oh? He
wants to glass?

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Yes, because up against the glass you have the outlet
to pound the glass. In other sports you can't pound anything.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Yeah, but it's a unique.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
So we have tickets to the Hershey Bears AHL in
the second row and it's awesome.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
But it's a unique vantage point. Like you can't really
see the game play.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
You can't really see it unfolding, right, because you need
to be up like ten to fifteen rows. There's a
lot I think, like NBA court side I get, but
football you wouldn't want to be in the front row
for football.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
No, because you don't have access to the players.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Or you would want to be up thirty thirty rows,
you know, fifty yard line thirty rows?

Speaker 8 (39:40):
Marv, of course i'de NBA, you know, I mean for
hockey though, oh pound for hockey glass, that's the best?
Are we sure?

Speaker 2 (39:51):
I mean, if you could have any seat tonight, Seaton,
Where would you want the seat to be?

Speaker 5 (39:57):
Uh yeah, probably on the glass, just because it's it's
because it's unique. I understand if I want if I
was worried about seeing the best possible angle of the game,
I would just stay home.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
Okay, I like that. I respect that.

Speaker 5 (40:11):
But if I want to be like right up there,
like no, heck, yeah, dude, let's do that, Fritzy.

Speaker 6 (40:19):
I'm thinking about ten fifteen rose up center eyes. I
just want to be able to see everything. And if
I'm down by the glass, I understand the coolness of that.
But you have to wait for that period of time
where they're gonna happen. Something's gonna happen right at your blade.
You know, you're part of the glass.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Paulie were you described it like there's a pretty good
chance that if there's like three goals that they're all
at the other end, then you don't really have a
good You don't really even see him that well.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
You're also in the corner for right by the goal,
by the other goal. This was four against the glass tonight,
thirty six thousand, But you're.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Really in the corner. Have great seats, they're either going
to end up being really good or not that good seating.
It's funny.

Speaker 5 (40:55):
We once went to a USC at Notre Dame and
because Dan is who Dan is, we stood on the
sideline and watched the game yeap, which was awesome until
you get there and you're like, wow, I can't see anything.
I had no idea what was happening in the entire
game unless it happened right here directly in front of me.
Notre Dame at the time they had no jumbo tron,
they had no nothing, So it's like, what happened? Did

(41:15):
he catch it?

Speaker 2 (41:16):
Was it? Oh?

Speaker 5 (41:16):
Penalty?

Speaker 2 (41:17):
What was it?

Speaker 5 (41:18):
You had no idea what was going on?

Speaker 3 (41:19):
Yet To learn angles, you got to try to move
a little bit. As a lineman.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
You like seeing it from behind as much as you
can because you can see things unfold. What a fun,
fun first hour. We're gonna get to so many other
news around sports. There was a lot of it over
the weekend. When we come back
