Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume. What's up, everybody, Welcome back to the Draymond
Green Show with my dog be d.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
What's happening my brother?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
How you doing what big dog Man? Good to see you,
my bro. Some moms good to see you too.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Man.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I saw I saw Bed in San Francisco a few
days ago. He kept me out past my bedtime. It's
good at kicking with the fellas. It was good to
kick it with the fellas. Bed kept me out past
my bedtime. Didn't tell me to bring no dominoes, so
(00:43):
in turn, we ended up sitting there amongst a group
of maybe six of our guys playing dominoes on the phone,
like we some seventeen year olds that can't off the phone.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
An intense game of dominoes. I can't wait to things
for real. Way that was fun, Yes, it was, Yes,
it was brother man. How you feeling. I feel pretty good, bro.
I'm a little.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Tired, like body wise, you know, I don't really sleep
much after games, but my body, you know, just getting
back out there first time in like three what three
weeks or so three and a half weeks or something
like that, getting back out there against you know, my
mash up being Paulo switching off on the front. These
(01:37):
too young sad just coming out so much for easing
back into it, you know. But I felt good out there.
I felt really good defensively, offensively, you know how I go,
getting that time and the rhythm back, kind of knowing
when to shoot, when not to shoot, being ready to shoot.
I think a lot of people don't realize like being
(01:57):
shot ready, coming back from injury and being shot ready
as a thing. So I wasn't shot ready at all,
getting my legs underneath me, But overall I felt pretty good.
Conditioning with solemn man. You know, I had a twenty
four to twenty five minute restriction. They played me twenty nine.
I love it.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Nine, Come on twenty nine. Come on. We had twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
We had a crucial plumber, We had the defensive stop
on Paulo, We got the w man.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, sir, that stopped. It felt good, It felt really good. Good.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Yeah, Paulo. Paulo is a guy who I got a
lot of respect for his game. You know, he just
coming back from injury as well, and he was out
a lot longer than I was, so you can tell
he's still also working himself back into shape, which I
ain't too mad at working himself out.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Let him take his time.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
But he Paulo, Paulo is special man. His ball skills
and when you combine that with the size that he
has and man, and I'm telling you he he when
he perfect that jump shot, which I hope and think
he will, it's gonna be a watch out, watch out,
(03:16):
because he he really sixteen, like a legit sixteen and
also probably like and not only is he sixteen, but
he like.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Probably to sixty.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Five, dangn And he's solid like it ain't he's too
sixty five solid like he's huge.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Man.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
When he perfect that jump shot, watch out, NBA.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
God.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
He special talent, man, he get this spot raised up on.
You know, he got the you know what he is.
He's a basketball player from Seattle. He just happened to
be sixteens to sixty five, but he's a basketball player
from Seattle. He got the handle, he got the pull up.
Just just give the ball and let me who he's
(04:06):
a basketball player from Seattle at sixteen to sixty five.
Good luck, but he you know, here here a problem.
But it was good to match up with him tonight.
I know that, uh you know a few years ago,
I was on the shop and when I was on
the shop, Math was like, whose team that on the
(04:30):
soft Tuesday? You get up you y'all play against and
you just like it's hard to get up for. And
I was like ah, and Math started naming a couple
of teams he like the Magic I'm like, yeah, so
this this team has had a thing against me since that,
which I don't mind. I respect. You know, Jamal Mosley
(04:50):
has done a great job with that book. And they
were they were playing extremely well and then they caught
the injury bug, you know, and so uh, tough team though,
tough team, they physical, they defend well, coach, you know
what I'm saying, So keep keep looking.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I'm looking at them to take that next step.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
And like I said, I think they was taking it
this year and then they just got bit by the
injury bud totally. But they're gonna be a team that
are forced to be reckoned with. We'll see how they
keep it all together. You know, hasn't been a franchise
that has done that in the past, you know. But
I think when you got two young stars at six
nine and sixteen like they do, I think you gotta
(05:30):
find a way to really build, and I think they
trying to do that.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
So it's fun to be out there against those guys.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
They got talent, for sure. They definitely definitely had a talent. Also,
I heard that Steve Kerr broke a clipboard at halftime.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
What happened and when was the last time he did
something like that?
Speaker 1 (05:52):
He broke the clipboard in the second quarter in the
time out. Uh, I want to say it was second quarter.
It could have possibly been the third quarter. Oh no, no,
it's the second quarter. He broke it in the time out.
He started yelling ass and Steve, he punches the clipboard
one time I saw him do it before you he
cut his hand over.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
But he used to. He used to. Steve used to
break clipboards.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
All the time on us, man, like in those glory
days and like when we was like at the peak
of our powers. If you will, he used to break
clipboards on us. Oh, you guys are fucking bush snapped
the clipboard. Didn't start pushing tonight.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
He punshed it. He pushed the clipboard and shot it,
and guys was like, whoa.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
It was funny because I Step said, well, only took
him forty nine games to break the clipboard. But he
used to, man, he used to snap them clipboards all
the time. But I always tell people, many people don't
realize because Steve is so mild manner, you know, and
he's he's like mild manner and and just extreme level
(07:02):
of patience, super chill. People don't understand how fiery Steve is.
Like that's until until I understand steve fire. We used
to bump eggs because I didn't understand his fire and
he didn't quite understand my fire. What we what we
(07:23):
end up realizing is that we have the same fire
and saying we flash, you know. And so once we
learned that, like no problem. Like I don't know when
the last time I got into an argument with Steve,
but he has an incredible, incredible amount of fire inside
and he does a great job of channel it. When
it come out, it come out. And today that time out,
(07:48):
it came out.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Steve's tough man. People forget Steve.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Steve at the chunk and he he went toe to
toe and chunked and with Jordan, dude, they don't get
no more intense than that.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
So that part, you know, how much shit you gotta
be talking as Steve Kurk to get under Michael Jordan's
skin like that in itself right, like Michael Jordan. Everybody
trying to get under Michael Jordan. You know how much
shit you gotta be talking to get under his skin
and end up fighting. Like but guess what, I guarantee
you that day was the day he earned mj respect. Yep,
(08:28):
because in true fashion, I'm sure just like today, everybody
bowed down the superstars and for one guy to stand
up to him and get to fight, like, regardless of
what happened, I guarantee.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
You that's the day he earned this respect for sure.
That's what I mean.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Yeah, that's what happens when you're in an intense moment
on the team, you know what I'm saying, and you're like,
you know what, I belong here.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Too, absolutely, I'm I'm on this team too.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
So that that that that Gusto, that Gusto, that Gusto
come from something, that Gusto come from that competitive nature
and you can see that. So you know, shout out
to Steve curryin games and what one bro clipboard.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
I can live with that all. Maybe we need you
to break more of them, Stevie Kirk. Before we get
into this episode, Uh, we are going to discuss the
most shocking trade in NBA history involving a D and Luca.
We're going to discuss d Fox to the Spurs. We're
(09:38):
going to discuss the Jimmy Butler saga. So make sure
you hit that subscribe button so you don't miss any
of these episodes.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Let's move around this league, ah Man. Start with what
everybody been talking to and I mean everybody reacting to
the Luca trade, Luca and ad trade.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
I saw a mean by the way that it's such
a shocking trade.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
I saw a mean that said, everybody's so shocked that
Luca got traded, that we acting like Anthony Davis's assigned
white side. And that couldn't be more accurate. No disrespect
of the sign because I think, you know, for a
sign to go from a second round pick to you know,
(10:32):
if I'm not mistaken, I think he was an all star.
If not, he got really close, but I think he
was one time all star but signed one hundred million
dollar contract. Second round pick, out the league, g league,
whole thing, workers way back and do that. A lot
of respect for us sign and what he did in
this league, So no disrespecting him. But I thought that
(10:53):
meme was hilarious because everyone acts like they didn't get
Anthony Davis back, like you know, and everybody like, oh
they got they should have got so many picks, bro,
they got they Yeah, they got Anthony Davis thirty one.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, you got a d he damn.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
There in every county like he top five right now
in every category.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
And no disrespect to Luca, but Anthony Davis is a
top seventy five player in the NBA history.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Luca's not that yet.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Now he has the potential to be that, and he
would be one hundred by the time, you know, top
one hundred by the time the next one come out.
But Anthony Davis is a perennial offset, a top seventy five,
and everyone acting like like he's nobody, you know. But nonetheless,
I think it was very shocking. I personally was at
(11:47):
the Warriors Pokers UH charity night when the trade went down,
and I'm steps two tables, you know what I mean,
and Steph gonna Draymond, you see this.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
I'm like, you know, I had heard of it. I
heard like the Warriors are.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
Looking at making some trades and all of that. So
he goes, you see this, and I'm like, see what
he liked the trade? I said, they did it. I'm
thinking he talking about it something that just came up
with us. He like, look, Luke and a d I said,
(12:28):
huh what? I walk around his table. He showed me
the phone.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
I'm like the question that everyone had, is this real?
I look closer, like it's from Champs. It's real. It's real.
They come from Champs. You can betch you a bottom dollar.
It's real.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Man.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
I was at a loss. I'm still at a loss
for words.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
I'm still like AI generated or like for real, Like
it's still as a hit.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I think now it's starting to hit. You know, everybody
saying they farewells. But when you heard about the trade, Like,
why do you think the Mavericks would do a trade
like this?
Speaker 1 (13:12):
I think a couple of reasons. Number one, where were you?
I feel like this is one of those things that
you it's such a big deal that you always remember
where you were when to happen. Where were you when
when this trade went. Now, I felt like I was
at I was chilling with my girl. She shoved me.
(13:33):
I called bullshit. I called bullshit. I was like, man's
some bullshit. And then I looked and I was like,
charms real, it's real. So when I look at this trade,
I think it happens for a couple of reasons. Number One,
(13:57):
as great as Luka Doncic is, he was not drafted
by the general manager of the Dallas Mavericks, the current
general manager, and so as great as he is, general
managers have in their mind how they see fit for
a team that they construct and how they want it
(14:18):
to work, how they see it working, how they see
themselves getting to it and winning a championship. Now, the
first thing people will say is, but Luca just went
to the finals last year, so they close.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
And I'll say, I agree, Luca did go to the
finals last year.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
But what I'll also say is sometimes making it that
far to the Western Conference finals, sometimes that can be
a little foods Go look at the Atlanta Hawks. Was
it three years ago, three four years ago going to
the Eastern Conference finals barely his sniff the playoffs? Since
(15:01):
sometimes it can be a little food's goal when you
make it that far. Now, I don't think Dallas was
Food's goal. I think they made great trades. May your
last year, acquired PJ. Washington, Daniel Gofford, who helped boost
their lineup and put them in contention to compete for
a championship. And they got there. They got close. I
(15:22):
weren't quite able to close it. So now when you
look at that as that general manager, you're going back
to the drawing board and you're saying, what do we
need to do in order to.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Get over the hunt.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Quite honestly, I don't think anyone in the world would
think the thing.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
To do is Trey Luka doncin. I don't think anyone
does that.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
But when I saw the trade, my first thought was,
Dallas must know something that we don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
That's man, I've been saying that.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
They must know something. They must have some intel or something.
You know, Luca's been dealing with a calf right Like,
I'm like, they must have some intel or something that
we don't quite know that and so that's that's one
of my first thoughts. Yeah, second thought is naturally, like
(16:24):
superstar players don't get traded in their prime at twenty five,
I'm not even sure if he's considered in his prime yet, right,
but at twenty five and you're right at the trade deadline,
like big trades like that that's don't normally happen at
the trade deadline. And so when I look at it,
(16:44):
I'd say Nico Harrison, who's the general manager of the
Dallas Marus for those that don't know, has like when
I look at the makeup of his team, he go
get to Kyrie Irvin that everybody's afraid of. Everybody think
Kyrie's off his rocker. Everybody think he won't be able
(17:06):
to be talked to. However, due to being the guy
at Nike for so many years, Nico already had a
relationship with Kyrie and he thought to himself, I can
deal with Kyrie. So I'm going to go get Kyrie.
And guess what it's been stellar. Kyrie's been steller, he's
(17:26):
been locked in so operation successful. So there's that you
didn't give up a ton to get them, right, like,
so operation successful.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Super.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
So Now when I look at that, and then I
take a step back and look at this trade, my
first thought is, or second thought, here's a guy who
you see the Lakers say, ah, they're worried a little
bit about eights durability. They don't think he's a one
A guy, X, Y, and Z. And then you got
Nico Harrison who's like, yeah, y'all may not think he's
(18:06):
a one A guy, but what I know for sure
is he's a one A talent. Yeah. And so with
my relationship with Jay Kids relationship because he played you know,
j Kidd was on the coaching staff when they won
a championship in twenty twenty, nuts Jared Dully's relationship Wade.
I think we can get Ad to play at that
one A level consistently, consistently, And I think that's the
(18:29):
bet that they're making. But more importantly, the bet that
they're making is if this ship is going to go down,
if I'm going to go down, if I'm Nico Harrison,
what I see is him saying I'm gonna go down
with someone I trust, not necessarily someone that the GM
before me trust. And yes, lucas a superstar, Yes Luca's great,
(18:50):
but Luca was never Nico's guy.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Nikos.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yeah, and now Nico is bringing in his guy and saying,
I'm a swing for the fences and if I fail,
I failed, but I felt doing it my way and
you got to respect someone who's willing to take that stands.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I man, I agree, dude, he is doing it the
way he wanted to do it right. Something about the
Luca thing, even though they went to the finals, I
think for him it was there.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Needs to be a final piece, right. I think they
also experienced like, hey, you know.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Dallas got Dallas got cracking, Dallas got hot in the playoffs,
Luca got hot in the playoffs. But it was really
the team that played so well right that allowed Luca
to beat Luca in Luca moments, and then also when
Luca was dialed into, you know, the success of the
(19:51):
team right, trying to play defense, trying to do the
different things on the defensive end, that's when they won.
Those are the games that they want. And you get
to the finals and you look and you say, hey, man,
my superstar is being put on an island by this
entire roster. We are vulnerable. If he does not defend right,
(20:17):
if he does not take up on this leadership responsibility
in the finals, we don't have a chance. And I
think Nico saw that. And when you see somebody like
a d you're looking at if I had a D
in that game with the squad we had, with the
way we play, we got a better chance of winning
(20:40):
that series on the defensive end with somebody like a
D and then stacking the deck.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Now, you're the biggest team in the West. You got the.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Most size, you athletic in the front court. You know
it unlocks Kyrie to go be Kyrie again. You got
Clay over there. That can be a great compliment to Kyrie.
So I think the eighty, the eighty for Dallas is
their upgrade. Now, yes, we need to go now everything,
(21:15):
We're putting all our chips on the table.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
We need to go. Now.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
This twenty five year old kid, right, we don't know
if this is if we built this team for him.
This team is not necessarily constructed and built for Luca,
right and for the future of Luca. So you would
have had to continue to make iterations and keep moving
(21:41):
pieces to figure out, Okay, is this the right fit?
Because you got not that you got lucky. Last year
you earned and deserved everything, But there was some teams
that were tired, teams that were hurt, right, and this.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Year is way different.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
You see the right, you see the coming back from
the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
You gotta know something. It's too much wear and tear.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Whereas he gonna be at thirty versus a d at
thirty five, Like who's gonna have you know, over the
next three or four years, who's gonna have that window
of longevity? And we're gonna see where these dudes kind
of measure out. Yep, that's the fact.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
And I think when you even look at Nico's fresh
conference and stuff, the one thing I respect the most
is he's standing on it.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
He gave us reason no, he's standing on it.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
And he said, listen, what I thought was a very
very bold statement, and like I said, I respect it.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
He said, listen, we would see if I was right
or wrong, pretty much saying, I know that this move.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Is either gonna get me make me a long tenor Jim,
or it's gonna get me five.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
And we'll see if I'm right or wrong. And I
respect that.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I will say, listen, anybody that make a move like
that and they stand.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
On it, Hey dude, Jason Kidd was not. He was
in the meeting like I going, hey dude, Jason Kidd.
I've never seen Jason Kidd like that. Jake was look
like he has ghosts.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
He like, I.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Gotta be here, I gotta be here. I ain't got
nothing to say. He was a shock. That that is
the face of a coaching shock. What do you think, somebody,
what do you think is going on on?
Speaker 2 (23:43):
And Jake kid.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Mind just based off that press conference? You know what
what is he thinking? What is he contemplate?
Speaker 1 (23:51):
What he's thinking is he has to change his entire offense.
Bet a guy, you could just get a ball to
let him go figure it out to school.

I think he's trying to sit there.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
He's sitting there trying to process what it is like
that's in front of him, what it is that just happened.
I think J Kid, I think I think J Kid
was all over the place sitting there because again also
like Nico said it, like JA Kid didn't know, right,
So like even being in the dark, like you start
(25:44):
thinking about I think J Kidd thinking about all of that.
You just see the look on his face. It's crazy.
Why didn't you tell me? Just tell me, il me,
don't don't let me send like this. I respect it though,
because they all right, like you see, shams get stories
(26:04):
and like a lot of people that be leaking stuff
these days, Like it's not like you just got four
coaches anymore, Like I think our coaching staff may be
twenty guys, yes, And so all of a sudden you
tell your coach and he tell his guy on the
coaching staff, and he go tell his young guy on
(26:25):
the coaching staff, right, and all of a sudden they
get back to shams and then it don't go through. Now,
if you're Dallas and you're secretly trying to trade Luke
and it don't go through, now, you gotta be a
real issue, you know. And so I think I understood
it right. Like everybody's like, oh, man, like how could
you not say this to Ja Kidd?
Speaker 2 (26:46):
How could you not? But like in a situation like that.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Where you can't tell nobody, I can't tell anybody, and
We live in this world where people tell everything, people
show you their location exactly where they at when it
at right.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
We live in this world where everything is leaked to
the media. So the one time that something don't get leaked,
people trying to say that's crazy. You know, that's how
actually things probably should be, Like yeah, you know, like
if you're doing something to better your team and you're
trying to make a trade, it's probably best that you
don't say that to anyone. And so I think in
looking at that, I think I would hope that one
(27:26):
of the main takeaways for people.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Is keep your mouth shut.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Like that deal got Luka Doncis got traded and it
was quiet, which means everybody else can shut the hell up,
like stop sharing every little secret you have to like
try to get a leg up or gain a friend.
Like I don't understand it, So I respect the way
they did it. Did they get the most value that
they could get for Luca people like, oh, they could
(27:51):
have got three picks, so they could have got four.
They got Anthony Davis and a first round pick that
you know, we'll see how it goes. Nonetheless, like if
they wanted to flip Anthony Davis right now, they could
flip Anthony Davis for first round picks, yeah, for sure, right,
(28:11):
So it's not like they can't get the first round
picks if they wanted the picks. But they trying to
win now, and they got a guy who helps them
win now. Not to mention, they just put him next
to a center, which he loves. He loves playing next
to a center, and they just put him next to
a big ass center and Daniel Gofferd and a big
(28:32):
ass center and Derek Lively, right, so that kills.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Those problems for Ade.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Listen, man, I think in a situation like that where
you traded Luca, I'm not sure there's many guys that
they could have got back that you're that you.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
You go from wherever they were in the.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
West to like people saying, oh, that's the best team
in the West, like they traded Luka doncons and people.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Are saying this the best team in the Weven.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
But then on the flip side, like you got people like, oh,
that's still dumbons, right, well, how are they the best
team in the West. But it's the demonstrade. Ever, like
I don't I don't quite understand that. Nonetheless, I feel
for Luca because you've poured.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Into that community, you have.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Taking that city and made it home, and like out
of nowhere, blindly get traded.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
I do feel back him. That's the shippy side of
the NBA.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Like if Luca came out and was like, yo, I
want to be traded, there would be this huge uproar
of like you know what I'm saying, another star player,
I want to leave the team, and like we need
to stop this. But this man gets traded in the dark,
in the middle of the night. He literally got traded
after midnight, after midnight, right in the middle of the night.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Luca dont just got traded and then Luca.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
It's crazy, like I saw I feel for Luca, you know.
I think Luca, if I'm not mistaken, I think he
he just had a kid, you know, so like just
bout the house to I heard he just bought a
new crib, like and that makes sense because his home
had just got broken into. So I'm sure he was
probably moving somewhere with more security or whatever. But man,
(30:15):
I do feel bad for him.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
You know.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
And Luca is not a guy that's gonna come out
and say something. He know, I saw his dad saying something.
But Luca not a guy that's gonna come out and
say something. I do feel a little bad. I feel
bad for Luca for sure. Okay, I don't feel bad
for Luca. Why you going to the Lakers?
Speaker 2 (30:34):
Ooh, that's that's you coming to the land.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Come on, you an international superstar, a megastar. Now it's
rock and roll time. A lot of them games that
we was hearing about or didn't see, we get to
see that. And you know how Laker fans are, and
they gonna they gonna take it up times ten.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Now with Luca, you got you got time.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Yes, the Lakers have bought themselves a great opportunity to
build now, to compete now and start to mobilize how
they want to be in the future.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
No, that's around the superstar at twenty five. So I
think at twenty five years old. Okay, who do you
think won the trade.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
In the interro? In the interro in the interim Right now? Today?
I think that's out of Dallas.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Because and the reason I say that, that's a main team.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
You got Luca.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
If you're the Lakers now, but now you don't have
a big you know, you don't have a starting caliber center.
And so I think for them, now they have to
figure out how to make how to build the team right.
Like you got Brin, you got Luker, you got Austin Reeves,
you know, but now you got to like figure out
how to build the team out.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
So now they'll they'll need to at some point get
a big right.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
And so I think as of right now, currently, as
it stands today, you lace them up, you go out
there and play tomorrow it's Dallas.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
But I don't think this.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Was a move that the Lakers was making to say
we're betting right now for today. I think what the
Lakers thought was this team ain't great, We're not winning
the championship. We got a chance to get Luka Doncics.
This gives us a chance to possibly sign a couple
guys and compete right now with Luca and Lebron. It
also gives us a chance to compete to where with Luca.
(32:32):
Now that twenty twenty seven draft pick ain't gonna be
as high as people thought it was, twenty twenty nine
probably won't be high as people thought. It was either
a Luca to this roster. So I think, you know,
currently as it stands, the Masks. But this is a
this is a right now and long term play for
(32:53):
the Lakers, and so I think as they build a
team out then that could change. Gonna need to build
a team out now. And also before we say something else,
shout at to my young fellow, Max Christie. That's right,
you know himself was to the starting lineup. I think
now for Max, Max is going to a team that's
(33:16):
more loaded in that position now, you know, so he
gotta go figure his way out. Nonetheless, he is spartan dog.
He gonna do things out there that a lot of
those other guys ain't gonna do because they ain't coach.
My time is a so I believe he'll figure it
out either way.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Yeah, I believe that was kind of like the the
caveat in the deal, watching Max Christie his evolution, you know,
JJ playing him. I saw something. I saw why they
drafted him. I saw his potential. And now moving that
piece over to Dallas complimenting of Klay Thompson, right being
(33:56):
over there complimenting Clay Thompson because Max is gonna play
some defense. Max can score, he can cut, he cut
to the basket, he athletic. Right, So Dallas is now
getting not only a d but they getting a young dog. Yes, right,
they got another young dog that that can fit into
that that ecosystem in what they building.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
Here's the thing, like when you look at the NBA
and a lot of things that I think fans don't understand.
It's like contracts. Your contract matters. And so for instance,
Max just signed a four year, thirty two million dollar deal.
He's going to get an opportunity and he'll probably get
the opportunity over Quentin Grimes because he has a meaningful contract.
(34:43):
And that's where I don't think, like I said, I
don't think people understand how much that matters. When you're like, oh,
that guy should have signed for less, Like, yeah, you
signed for less, you're also setting yourself up to get
screwed because you signed for less. Their value is no
longer as high as it was, you know. So if
you're not in a certain position and you signed for less,
you can screw yourself. So Harris, why I think like
(35:06):
Max signing that deal actually gives him more security than
just financial security. It gives him more security to get
an opportunity or two or three because he got the contract.
And so I think and I think with an opportunity,
he figures it out.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
Spartan dog, that's what we do. I agree.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
I also wanted to dial in the Utah Jazz right
they didn't even know that Luca was being traded. Can
you explain how is that possible for them to be
involved in the trade and then not know somebody being traded?
At that point, do you just wake up and be like, man,
(35:48):
the Lakers in the Dallas, who can.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
We call to get some picks? Call Utah? Call Utah?
You want some draft picks? Gotta take it.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Listen, here's what I will say about that bed Rob Polinka.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
It's crazy. It is a little on the lines of morally.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Fucked up what he did, but I understand why he
did it.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
It's a lot along the lines.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
You know how someone does something and you're like, well,
they didn't break a law, so they can't go to
jail up. And I think Rob Polinka is right there,
Teeter in that line.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
You didn't quite do anything wrong.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
But Marley, I don't think Danny ain't going to ever
work with him again, because like, who knows if Danny
would have did the deal or not. But you didn't
give me that choice. And I think that's going to
just put a strain on their working relationship because how
(37:07):
many times you tell me this, BD, how many times
have you seen the wool get pulled over Danny Ainge's head?
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Danny Ainge, Yeah, yeah, yeah, very very seldom, very seldom
in his tenure.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Rob Polinka and Nico Harrison poured the wool over his head,
so and then and then and then it's the Lakers too.
So you know, Danny Ainge and the Lakers don't get along.
He ain't trying to help no Lakers. He's a Boston Celtic.
It's a Boston Celtic. He's not trying to help down
his side at all.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Man.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
So for those people out there, I'm not a general manager,
But how I would imagine that happen is if you
call and you're just like, yo, we're trying to get
off with cha. Fino, young guy will give up two
second round picks and Danny Ainge is just going to
take him because he's taking all those drive picks right now.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Then they don't tell wait time out? Are you saying?
Hold on?
Speaker 3 (38:10):
I think I know what you said. Did Rob Phlaka
called Danny Ainge and make the trade and didn't tell
him nothing about this.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
One thousand percent one percent. Oh that is.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Ooh but hey dude, but here's the thing though, Bdi,
here's why. Here's how he can get away with it. Though,
I'm gonna tell you how he got it. He can
get away with it because in that deal, the only
thing that went to Utah was hus Fino in two
second round picks from the Lakers, some picks and the
Lakers like it wasn't like it was Dallas pick or
(38:48):
you know, Dallas has to give up. Now the picks
came from the Lakers, so you didn't have to let
him know that there was a third team involved because
everything that Utah received came from the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
But man, that's a little man. He got flee.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Hey don Ah, that is that is bored in line.
Oh that is we Like I said, BD, that's what
you gotta that's what you gotta come knock on Danny Age.
Man have to see rob be like, hey, bro, I
gotta come knock on your.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Door on me.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
You owe me one. That's that's one of them. You
owe me one like you owe me one for sure?
This is man. This ain't like they made a trade.
You imagine they ain't make a trade work for like
you know they had traded for last year.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
It ain't like they made the trade work for RUI.
This is Luca dungeish man like dude. They went over
there fleece and you say, Danny wow.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
For show. For sure. You don't see that happened to
Danny often.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
You don't see that happen to so impressed the often
right like wow, imagine waking up.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Yeah, it was incredible, good job Rob Polinka.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
He got that off and he really got that off.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Hey, Danny Age, I got these two picks and and Shavino.
Hey what she's thinking, Oh man, what man, Let me
just get let me, let me let me give you those.
He's like, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Let me let me go. Let me call, let me
call Nico. Niko is done.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Nico has done. It's done. I got utah involved. Gonna
tell you, Oh man.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
Thirty minutes linca ha come across. Danny Age taking Luca
donc has traded to the lost.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
You know, Danny Age is hot. What he is look
at He even said it. He basically said he was enough.
He had no idea that he was helping the Lakers.
Crazy Luca, he had no time. By the time he
found out, it was too late. That is crazy, crazy, bro.
(41:10):
You can never you can never do another deal with
the Utah Jazz if you're the Lakers unless you go
give them something.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
You gotta go.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
You gotta go get that man something back later in
a couple of years to be like a man, know
our feelings and.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
You have to absolutely it's crazy. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
But speaking of this trade, how do you think this
trade affects Bron?
Speaker 3 (41:34):
I think it buys Broun time, right, I think, uh,
Lebron now has a new focus.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
Uh he is, he is.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
He now gets to go out as the gourbru, the
mentor the sensey. Right and then he still has you know,
three four years or two or three years with Luca
to figure out what they're dyingam is, because look, you
got Lebron, you got Luca. You you ain't doing bad,
(42:06):
you ain't doing bad. You have you can be a contender.
You know, you can be a contender if you put
the right pieces in place. But a Lebron James, a
Luca don It doncik back court or front court cornerstones
or the front court, back court come on, man, and
Lebron giving him that ism, I think it probably breathes
(42:30):
new life into Lebron because remember last I think it
was a couple of weeks ago, I was talking about
either Lebron needs to play the point or Lebron needs
to play the fourth. Now you got somebody like Luca
coming in. Lebron do't have to score the points like Lebron.
Ain't gotta come up be like man, I gotta get
thirty twelve. You know, Lebron is getting triple doubles at
(42:54):
forty and they and when you look at the Lakers play,
he get a triple double.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
A d was getting thirty six sixteen and they winning
by five. Yeah, they barely win it again.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
You know they're struggling whomever, you know what I mean,
whoever whoever. So now that's seven, that's seventy, that could
be seventy. Yeah, Lebron can sit and really watch it,
watch offensive barrage of one.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Right, Luca.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
Luca is a fifty point party waiting to happen. And
so now Lebron twenty three thirteen, Lebron get to go.
He get to go paint and fix the game to
his liking. So I think it works both ways because
Lebron can set the stage and then Luca.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
Now Lebron got another closer and real closer.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Absolutely, he got a real closer somebody who is going
to take that shot, so he get to see a
different part of himself where no pressure on him.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
Now all pressure is just him being a sense that
I agree, I think.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
I think it does a couple of things though I
think it definitely takes the pressure off of him. I
think it possibly buys Broun more time if he won't
to even play longer. I think, although he don't need
anybody to do that, but I think it you know,
it helps, but I also think it.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
Could speed his time up.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
And the reason being is they all in on Luca, right,
So like if it's not working, it's not you know
what I'm saying. It's not like Luca goes you know
what I'm saying. It's like, yeah, well we're gonna build
around Lucas, so then let's have a conversation Bron, you
know what I'm saying. And so however, Luca dont's pick
(44:44):
and roll being set by the screen being set by Lebron,
James good luck, Like that's that's crazy, crazy, but I
think it definitely like it has to work better than
just them losing every game, like because you still got
Lebron James and looka Dante on Ross, so you still
(45:05):
gotta win games, and it has to work better than
just losing every game or else. I think you know
they're going to have a conversation with Brin because you
know they're going to have that conversation because they didn't
even let you in that they were making the trade.
So they're doing this strictly based off of what the
franchise thing, which means for me, I personally think the
(45:27):
next thing they do is going to be strictly based
off what's best for the franchise and not.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Necessarily what's best for Brin.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
I also think, like say Brin was going to do
a farewell tour like Kobe did, like d Wade did,
it kind of throws a monkey wrench in it because
it is it's you know, like I don't know, I
just think it kind of throws a bit of a
monkey wrench. And if Bron wanted to decide to do
(45:54):
a farewell tour, because as big as Bron is, and
he huge, and I think he deserves whatever the hell
he want to do. It's not gonna all be about Bron.
Like you think of Kobe farewell to. I think they
won eighteen games or something like, but everything was about Kobe.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
It ain't gonna be that way about Bron.
Speaker 1 (46:12):
It's you know, d Wade that the heat they might
have gotten snuck in the playoffs, but there wasn't. They
weren't great, you know what I'm saying. But everything was
made about d Wayne. So I think I think you know,
they could throw a monkey wrench.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
It's gonna it's gonna get overshadowed for sure. Yeah, it's
definitely gonna get overshadowed. Okay, here here here's a bowl take.
If this is not work right, Trey Luca, Luca play
you make the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Who knows? Next year this shit don't work with Bron?
What happens?
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Does Lebron leave or do the Lakers say, hey, this
is the final piece to move to figure out this roster.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
For look, I think if anything is going to happen
with Lebron as far as leaving the Laker, I think
it happens this summer. I don't think it's the next
year thing because I also don't think. I don't I
don't think you're gonna he don't have time. But I
also don't think you're going to see a Lebron James
trade mid season. We were shocked by this one, but
I just can't foresee that. Like we made a go
(47:20):
at it last year, and the one reason that didn't
happen is because you just weren't.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Going to get a Lebron James moving man. See that,
you know.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
So I think if anything happens, it happens this coming summer.
I don't think it's wait till next deadline and see
it ain't working. I don't foresee that. I don't foresee
what what But what is the okay? So what is
the domino effect right of this trade to the NBA?
(47:53):
Nobody's safe and every and if you're a general, man,
you calling you calling.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
You call you.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
Calling on guys, win be you calling on We don't
even think you have a chance.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
I get now.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
If you're a GM, I think the way that this
plays out moving forward is you're going to have You're
going to now start seeing more young promising talent get
traded because you're going to just get more calls and
as opposed to before, like nobody's calling like yo y'all
(48:32):
trying to trade Steph or yo y'all trying to trade
with nobody's calling us.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
And you're going to get those calls now all the time.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
If people just throwing ship out the wall and seeing
if it's thick, man, that's kind of the way. That's
that's stuff, I think one of the biggest impacts on
the NBA. And then let's face it, you got Luka
Doncic and Laker purple and gold.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
That's crazy.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
That's masked like that's mister Lakers is the Lakers brand.
And now with Luka Dontchen, you're talking about globally like
it's a real thing and l a.
Speaker 3 (49:08):
Yeah, and there's a there's a real community here, you know.
And it's a real diverse community for him. That europe
it's a European vibe here for him, it's a more
welcoming vibe for him.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
So man, damn.
Speaker 3 (49:30):
Yeah, I think it's changing. It's a good Yeah, it's
it's a huge domino effect. I also wanted to pinpoint
Dallas was smart because they got off that Supermax, because
that Supermax is gonna kill a lot of teams like
you were saying, you're gonna see a lot of young
(49:51):
dudes get traded, because now it's like they coming up
on that super Max and it's like, yo, in five years,
is this dude gonna be worth one hundred million dollars
a year?
Speaker 2 (50:02):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (50:03):
This goes back to b d on the Draymond Green
Show before I was blessed to have you come on
and partner on this show and bring a whole different
life and take to this show when I just used
to be sitting here by myself talking to.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
A Draymond domas Draymond Doma.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
Absolutely I spoke about and I went on a tweet
store about how fucking dumb stupid the CBA that we
were going to sign as players. When when it first
leaked that we were going to agree to a deal
and they leaked the terms, I went on this whole
tweet store and I spoke on the pod about how
(50:46):
dumb that CBA was. And you know, you see, Luca
doncis getting traded. Don't for not for one second thing
that that's also not a byproduct of that dumb ASSBA
we signed.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
You put in a hard cap. The second apron is
a hard cap.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
Yeah, And every time somebody get up that second April,
you can bet your bottom dollar they're going to be
trying to trade out of that second April. And so
you just saw Luca Dontis get traded at twenty five.
That is a byproduct of the second April of Dallas. Like, man,
we're gonna have to pay him eighty five million dollars
(51:27):
a year, all right? He good, he great, but ain't
no money for nobody else.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
We were like, were you about to go into the
second April?
Speaker 1 (51:36):
No, we ain't trying to go into the second April, right,
And so Luca Dontis getting traded. And what I have
not seen anyone talk about is one million percent a
by product of the cap cap situation in the second April.
It is one thousand percent. And I don't think people
(51:58):
notice or realize that. But you're going to see more
and more trades like that because that second apron, Man,
that's just a it's just a nice way of saying
a hard cap.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
It's just a crazy threshold. It puts it puts the
team in a bad predicament. Obviously, it's incredible for the player,
but if you're trying to build and you're trying to win,
and your top two dudes is taking all the bread
you're not. And then and and you're paying them off potential. Yes,
(52:29):
you know you're paying them off of hey over these
next five Yeah, we're paying you off of potential. I
just think that you know that hard cap and like
you're saying that that that second apron, A lot of
people are gonna start falling in that second apron, and
the it's gonna give a team like it's just gonna
(52:50):
be so much player movement because people are gonna try
to avoid that, and you're gonna lose loyalty from your
young superstars. The next huge trade, right that happened over
the weekend pretty much when we saw coming the Aaron
(53:13):
Fox of the Spurs Zach Levine to the Kings. But
before we talk about this train, I just want to
know who is running the Bulls. Why don't they care
about their franchise. I believe Zach is worth way more
than what they got for. And I don't understand really
(53:38):
what the Bulls, and I mean the Bulls is a
swap meet. I would go over there and they could
be fleeced easily.
Speaker 1 (53:44):
You could have fleeced them out of Zach a year
ago if you wanted to, like, yeah, the thing I
don't understand is they kind of go through this with everybody.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
But are you surprised.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
This is the same franchise that, oh, Michael Jordan's or
you said you want to choose the coach, Well then
we are getting rid of you so you can walk.
This is the same franchise that let Michael Jordan just
walk to retirement like they are dieing violent, right, Michael,
this is the black cat d Michael Jordan. You're erroress
(54:19):
like this this is him, Like it's really him.
Speaker 2 (54:23):
This is crazy.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
It's not the ghost of Michael Jordan. They let walk. Yeah,
Michael Jordan himself walk and so in its prime, like
just won three championships in the word, like they let
him walk. And so I can't say that I'm surprised
by anything that the Bulls does that's not smart, because
(54:45):
that's also a franchise that their head coach told them
to drive Draymond Green and they did it, you know,
And so I think, uh, you know, it's just not
a smart franchise, Like they don't do smart things. And
that's been proving time and time him again. And so
you let Zach pretty much get out of town for
a bag of donuts. And I just think you could
(55:11):
have done way better than that. But also, like, what
did they get in the sign and trade for Demortes?
So you essentially let them walk for nothing, right, like nothing.
You once had the great Derrick Rose and obviously he
went through the injuries. You got nothing for d Rose.
(55:33):
And so when you look at this team, it'll be
interesting to see if they trade Busvich what they get
for him.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Probably nothing because they're they're just not good.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
And you're letting these guys walk like essentially for nothing,
Like what's like so pretty much you never end up
accumulating any assets and they end up back in the
same spot.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Yeah, you don't draft. You didn't draft well, he didn't
d well. You didn't draft based on knees or based
on future picks. You just they're just picking tament. I
want to see Lonzo out of there too. I think
that's it. That's how they're drafted for who's that?
Speaker 1 (56:14):
Oh all right, right, we'll take this guy's next right there.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
That's how they drafted.
Speaker 3 (56:24):
You know, they fourth in their time, it's like five
seconds four come on, man, we got some pickets.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
It's crazy, man, run it out of time all the draft.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
I'm telling you, man, it's crazy. So, you know, I'm
just not sure how they just keep letting guys walk
like that.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
But Kings came up though, came up to where, well
you get three first round picks, yeah, right, twenty five,
twenty seven, thirty one, three second round picks twenty five,
twenty eight, and twenty eight back to back, and Zach Levine.
Speaker 2 (57:04):
So I think the Kings got some equity in that deal.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
I definitely think they're doing let's face it, this this,
this twenty twenty five Charlotte pickers want.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
To be incredible. That's gonna be a great pick. Oh
my god, that could could be to do. That's incredible.
Speaker 1 (57:24):
Twenty twenty seven San Antonio Spurs pick is going to
be trash.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
It's gonna be trash. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
Twenty thirty one Minnesota pick, it's gonna be good, good
pick because Minnesota, well, let's face it's a man still
in Minnesota with with what we see.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
Just half of last night.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
Yeah, it is anxion still in Minnesota in six years
from now.
Speaker 2 (57:46):
Nope, nope, right, Like, so they're gonna do this. They
gotta do the same thing they do with Luca.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Right, so because fate, let's face it, so like that
pick may not be great either.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
So they definitely got some great picks.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
They got some second round picks of twenty twenty five
Chicago pick, which is going to be probably picked thirty two,
like thirty three, thirty four, or possibly thirty five. The
best pick only be a draft. You know your thirty
fifth pick. You get a thirty fifth pick, you know
you come up on any.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
Jams, Come on, come on, man that part.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
So that'll probably that'll probably be a good one. They
got their own pickback second round pick in twenty twenty eight, right,
So they definitely made out well. For sure, the Kings
made out well. But what they're going to have to
figure out is they can't all play.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
All them dudes can't play together.
Speaker 1 (58:39):
Not only can they all play together, but where where.
It'll be interesting to see how far this team goes,
because if you're not going far, I could foresee them
by the summertime having a fire sale or by next
trade deadline having a fire sale, and so it'll be
interesting to see, like how they play. But I can't imagine.
(59:01):
And I'm a huge Zach Lavine fan. I think Zach
is great. But you lost your franchise point guard. Yep,
you don't just lose your franchise point guard and get better.
You traded Tyres, Holliburton kept Fox, and now you trade
Fox away. It could be a fire sale in the
next six to twelve months.
Speaker 3 (59:21):
Yeah, Mink is the point guard, Malik Monk the point guard,
Zach Levine, Damar DeRozan, Keegan, Murray, and Sabonas that's state
starting five. I don't I don't see a lot of
I mean, if they can figure out if Christy Christy
can figure out a style where their small ball can
(59:43):
work and they can be able to move, move, move
the ball between Damar Zach Monk, maybe yeah, but a
lot of those dudes outside of Zach really need the
ball in their hand to create. You know. Damar is methodical.
(01:00:04):
He liked to chop you up on Iso the leak.
He played. He played at a different frequency than Dumar
and then Zach. He plays a little bit in between both.
But where are who taking all these shots? Because all
King and Murray do is shoot. That's I mean, that's
kind of all.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
He that's all, and so you know, but he hasn't
shot at that great this year.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Ain't no open looks for. But you know what, it
ain't no open looks now.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
It really ain't gonna be no open looks for because
you don't have you don't have uh drive.
Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
And catch piece of the pink guys. You have ISO guys.
Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
So that means you gotta wait for somebody to get hot,
to get a double team to get open.
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
Right after what I just saw b D, I'm calling
them bons, I'm calling them tomorrow. I'm calling them sack,
I'm calling them up month, I'm calling them kicking after
what we just witnessed. If I'm a GM and I
want any of those guys, I'm calling right away, yeah yep,
(01:01:15):
because they could then make a decision to be like,
you know what, we can't win with this team. Let's
just ye, let's just move to Bonus. You know, like
you you just don't know. So if I'm a you
never know what's sack. I'm calling, and I'm asking for
their whole team and then seeing where they land and
just see what. Maybe I want something, maybe I don't,
but I'm definitely calling, all.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Right, I got one for you, Sacramento Kings. Who's your
one of your favorite organizations versus the bulls? Sack who's
made who's made the worst Who who's made the worst decisions?
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Well, let's see, I want to say the bulls, but
but it's probably Sacks. I did pass Luca, pass up
on Luca Dongeons, so you got to take that into account.
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
Yeah, they passed up on Luka, doneon.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
They traded the Marcus Cousins at the time as their franchise.
As for Buddy Love Buddy Love, I don't even remember
who else was in trade.
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Buddy Loves traded. You traded a franchise, Buddy Buddy Love.
Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
You traded a franchise center at the time, probably arguably
the best sender in the game at that time.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
So you trade him, you trade it.
Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
You traded traded Halliburton, and god, you got some bonus,
got some bonus.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Oh yeah, you didn't get yourself.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
I think that's been beneficial for them, right, Like, the
bonus has been very beneficial for them.
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
So I'll give them that one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
Uh, you picked up Damar, You picked up Damar, which
it didn't work.
Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
I can't necessarily say it didn't work. It's it's worked.
What blew up now, what it could have done is
possibly made Fox be like I want out, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Like, yeah, that's what I'm saying, Like, how how does
that work? You get tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
You got Fox here, and then you don't take care
of You're not you're not building around a core of
some bonus Darren Fox and tomorrow you're not building around that.
So all the other pieces and the dudes that you haven't, like,
they don't compliment those dudes game.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
That's right in their bench. You know, they lack some depth,
you know. So I was I was still I have
to say the Bulls.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
The Bulls for sure, Yeah, just over the legacies, just legacy, Yeah,
sac Fast, look a doc. But the Bulls told Michael
Jorgan Deuces Yeah, and there Cross and d Rose that
can never let us down.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
The Bulls. I gotta go.
Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
I gotta say that the Bulls traded Jimmy Butler before
his prime. Like again, I gotta go with the Bulls, man,
they are trocious to.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Say, get your life together. What do you think about
Winby and Fox teaming up?
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
I like it a lot. I like it a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
You're talking about Fox Downhill in the pick and roll
with Windy popping and rolling to the riom for the
lot that's tough, like you got your This is a
proper big Man point guard that we used to see
back in the old days.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
This is it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
This is proper and they're in enfranchise that know how
to make that work, you know, and so I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
I know, I know that was.
Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
One of the reasons Fox turned the extension down is
because I think he wanted to end up in San
Antonio with Wimby.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
So you know, you see them, You see the power
of Rich Paul.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
You know a lot of these guys want to be traded,
and you know a lot of people think like, oh man,
I could be my own agent and I can do this,
or my boy can be my agent, or this agent
that I just want to focus on me can be
my agent.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
The power of having a proper agent.
Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
Daron Fosx got exactly to the place he wanted to
end up less than three months after turning down the extension.
He got exactly where he wanted to go after turning
down to an extension three four months ago. If you're not
like that, right, there is what you talk about power
in an agent like getting him exactly to the place
(01:05:47):
he wanted to go.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Didn't cause a fuss, didn't cause.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
A ruckets all, just got it done, made sure he
got the exactly where he wanted to go. Not we're
going to get him traded to this place and then
in a year we can get you to San Antonio.
You come up, Nope, we're going to get you there
right now, right now. The power of having a great agent.
And I know Fox just signed with Clutch maybe a
little over a year ago, and he immediately sees has
(01:06:12):
reaped the benefits of being with such an incredible agent.
So shout out to Rich Paul too, just getting that done,
getting getting Fox, making sure Fox ended up exactly where
he wanted to go. That, my friends, is a great agent.
So as you see players struggle with things like this,
no that you don't have to look any further than
(01:06:33):
their representation.
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
Just like representation get guys, can get guys better contracts
than they deserve. Representation can have guys stuck in a
situation or ending up in a situation they don't want.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
To be in. Totally.
Speaker 3 (01:06:47):
Well, no, he ain't got no leveraging, no bargaining chips
and the team don't even have no respect to have
that a real conversation, which is so definitely shout out
to Rich Paul because Rich Paul make moves. Rich move
and he fight and he fight.
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
One thing he gonna do is fight first players. Yeah,
as long as and he'll tell you as long as
I got you lockstep with me, you said, I'll fight
till we can't fight no more. And I think I
appreciated about Rich is he'll also tell you when it
ain't smart to fight, tell you like, Dre, I don't think.
I don't think it's a good fight on this one,
(01:07:29):
like yeah, it may cost this, this, this and this,
like I don't know if we fight a fight, we
should be fight, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
And so he'll also tell you that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
So yeah, he uh with shout out to Rich Who's
Who's at a party this summer and he had one
of his young players with him and he was like, Bed,
I'm gonna bring my young fell over here. I want
you to really talk to him, like how you talk,
you know, you talk your ship talk to him.
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
Brought the young dude over.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
We chopped it up and then he was like, man,
get his number, get beat number, like he was he
was adamant about.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
He was like, bro, this dude needs to be hearing
from you like he like he he one of them ones.
It's like respect.
Speaker 3 (01:08:17):
Yeah yeah, and he and he a silver back, so
like he he need to talk. He needs to be
talking to somebody that that keep you motivated. Will also
be like, hey, look hommy, you know what I mean.
Look hommy, it's your time to Shane. So I respect
Rich because he just cared about Hey, I need my
(01:08:40):
players to get he whoever they need to connect with,
Like I always love that about him. So shout out
to Rich, Paul, shout out to Dearn Fox and Winby.
This duo is gonna be crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Yes it is, Yes it is, I think.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
And they got talent in San Antonio. Absolutely some talent.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
You don't tell you what. I think.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
One of the biggest heighth sis of this trade that
line so far, what that they got. They were able
to get Daron Fox and not include Stephan Castle.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Ooh that was big. That's big. That's big. They got
darn Fox and did not include Castle. Castle was nice.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Now you're talking about one one the trade. That's why
I'm like, Spurs give up the picks. It don't matter.
You got your core. Yeah, like now you just need
to fine too, but you got your core and the
oldest one is twenty seven, twenty six seven. So I
(01:09:42):
commended that R. C. Buford coach Pop coach Pop doing well.
They held on to Stefan Castle and got darn Fox.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
That's jim that's hell of it. That's a hell of
a gym. I mean, great teams make great moves. Thousand right,
Great teams make great make great moves. And the San
Antonio Spurs that organization has all been, always been upper echelon,
even when they were losing, it was integrity behind it.
(01:10:16):
It wasn't like, yo, we're gonna be sorry for the
rest of our lives.
Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
It's like, no, we're gonna get a generational talent. And
they were trying to figure it out with the talent
they had. They moved tomorrow there you know, Uh, now
they move CP to a compliment.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
Wenby, Now you got dearon Fox. For sure. It's at
it's a bigger game.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Also this weekend, it was reported, uh that Jimmy Butler
told the Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
That he's unwilling to sign an extension.
Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
There I am, you know, I'm I'm kind of out
to Jimmy Butler business. Uh he he Jimmy Butler communicating
to the Warriors, and he was unwilling to sign an
extension there and therefore trade talks sent him sending him
to go to State pretty much stall, Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
What was your reaction when you see a report like.
Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
My reaction when I as I'm a fan of the NBA, right,
I'm a fan of basketball, So a lot of these
things I look at through a fan list.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (01:11:26):
Now I played for the Golden State Warriors, and this
one in particular, when I saw this, I just was like, man,
Jimmy got to be really careful because you're you continue
to lessen the amount of teams that would be willing
to take you on. At some point, Pat may just
say I'm sending you to Toronto, you know, or it's
(01:11:49):
like something like that. So I just when I saw that,
I was like, man, Jimmy, gotta be really careful because you're.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
You're you know, you keep the keep. And again for
jim it can get ready get real tricky.
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
It should get real tricky for him, Like you could
end up you can be back, you can be back
at the Bulls you can be the superstar dude on
a terrible team and they just waiting for your contract
to expire, right, and they gave up some picks just
to be able to get off your money in two
(01:12:24):
years to get ready for that, you know, for their
draft or they rebuild, and.
Speaker 2 (01:12:30):
You don't hold any value.
Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
So you playing, you playing, you playing with like, oh
I'm gonna go to the contender, I ain't gonna sign
no extension, or yeah, you don't really like and then
what you're saying with this hard cap right in this
second Apron, bro, they just cut Luca. They just cut
(01:12:55):
Luca water behind Dolly. I'm telling you, man, is it's
not if you haven't if you haven't negotiated with the
Second Apron, you don't quite understand the like the stranglehold
that it really puts on these teams. But for the teams,
(01:13:16):
they kind of happy because they got what they ultimately wanted,
which was a hard cap.
Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
And so.
Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
I just like I said, when I saw it, I
just was like, man, he gotta be really careful. You
killing the market more and more each day, and it's
already hard enough to trade somebody that made fifty million
dollars because just to make the money work, you have
to give up so much.
Speaker 2 (01:13:41):
Either.
Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
Meaningful amount of guys or a star player, you know.
And so I just think, you know, with already having
challenges with you know, trying to trade a fifty some
million dollar contract, you know, you start adding all these
things on, and I just think he can get real bleak.
So you know, I didn't make it any other way
(01:14:05):
other than that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
And then I would say, like, what is your take on,
Like how does that affect the locker room?
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Right? If if if you're watching as a player.
Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
And whether you're on the Lakers or the Warriors, and
you keep hearing Jimmy Butler name and you're seeing what's
happening in Miami. Shout out to Kevin Love No he commentary,
Oh my god, the commentary is great. But when you
see stuff like that, and you see something like Miami
(01:14:42):
becoming almost like entertainment with they or not? Right, how
does that affect like talks in the locker room about oh,
Jimmy Butler coming here or if people want him or not?
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
Every now and then you get a guy coming up
to you like, yo, is this Jimmy thing real? Or
am I gonna get traded.
Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Or X, Y and Z.
Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
You get guys coming up every now and then before
the most part, it don't come up a time like
guy's going with their day status quo.
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
I will say earlier today.
Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
Before we started film, before the game, Steve acknowledged it, like, yo,
trade deadline, a lot going on is tough, Like sorry
that you guys have to go through this, like and
just kind of how unsettling it is it feels leading
up to the trade deadline, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
He acknowledged it.
Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
And I always applaud Steve on stuff like that, Like
Steve kind of always acknowledges the elephant in the room.
And he was just saying, like Steve said, I was
traded five times in fifteen years, so I know how
it feels, you know, and I never want any of
you guys to go through that. But the reality is
we're five hundred basketball teams, so you can just never
(01:15:55):
be too short. But the best way Steve Steve, Steve
had a good line. He said, we were in a
very interesting business where we ask you guys to give
your all to the team for the better of the team.
Give your all and we can up and trade you tomorrow.
(01:16:16):
It's like, but the reality is you put yourself in
the best position by giving your.
Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
All to the team, to the team, you know, and
so it's.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
A very like a kind of a pecurious spot to
be in, you know, just like like, ah, man, I
need to give my all to this franchise, give my
all to this team, and then I can be traded
tomorrow like luka doncic you know, like but nonetheless, like
I said, I applause Steve for acknowledging the elephant in
(01:16:49):
the room and then also kind of sharing his own
experience because that makes it real, Like, no, I know
what this is, Like I went through this five times,
moving my up and moving my family like and so
I think that acknowledgment like goes a long way with
guys like where you just don't come in like all right,
Harris filming, you know, all fifteen of us on the
trading block, like you know, you know, so I have
(01:17:12):
lost Steve for that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
I think he handled that great today. No, that's domb
that's dope.
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
The thing is, you know, I was I was traded
to think twice in my career. The first time I
sat outside the GM's office and he was like, oh.
Speaker 2 (01:17:30):
Trade deadline. We don't think we can movee.
Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
I was like, they got an extension, Take your ass
back in there and give me a pot of here.
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
That's how I got to go to State from New Orleans.
The second time was I was.
Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
With the Clippers and Vinnie the Snake down thegro Vinnie
the Snake down there girl had We had a meeting
and he said, uh, man, we like what we see
with Blake y'all doing the lives.
Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
Fans are excited.
Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
I know you've been banged up, you've been you know,
you've been playing hard for me because yo, you've been
You've been playing, You've been playing hurt, You've been doing
all this. Man, we want to we just want to
like start monitoring you at the end of the year.
Start taking off your minutes. Let some young guys play,
you know. I was like, oh, man, this is cool.
He was like, so if you want to sit out
(01:18:27):
the next game, you can sit out. The next game
was in New Orleans, so I was like, man, I'm hurt.
So I'm in the back and somebody goes, uh, did
you hear you were getting traded? I was like, hey,
oll no, hey bro. I had to walk on the
bus I got traded. I got traded. I have to
(01:18:48):
fly back with the team. I had to.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
I was in New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
I saw my sister and I was like, oh shit,
I'm getting traded to Cleveland. So I had to fly
back all the way to fly back to LA with
the team.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
And on the plane, it was just saying yo, goodbye
to everybody on the team.
Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
That's like, yeah, fucking wow, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
But like you don't even know.
Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
You don't know until like you're on the bus, You're like, damn,
I am getting you might be.
Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
You might be one of the reasons why a lot
of teams that fly on Thursday they pushed their flights
back to like Thursday evening to avoid the awkward, to
avoid like an awkward flight suggestion.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
And somebody get traded.
Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
Yeah, you know, they gave you a chance to get
a coaching piece of mind said you got to.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
You just not today.
Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
Hey bro, I was calm, cool, collective, and I let
everybody know how I felt after three years of being here.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
So what was some of the stuff you said? Just basically,
you know a lot of lies.
Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
I have to tell a couple of players like, hey bro,
I like I'm being a good teammate, but when the
summer comes, I'm gonna fuck you up. We're not teammates
no more. So when I see you this summer, I
bet I see you, it's on and cracking. I have
to endure a lot with the Clippers, bro, I have
to do it, endure a lot. And then I told Vinnie,
(01:20:23):
you know you you're a liar. I mean, the last
thing we hate is a liar. And at the end
of the day, your lives are gonna catch up to you.
These players ain't gonna trust you, you know, And.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
You can't be a coach. You can't.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
You'll never win your players over when they know that
you a snake, you know. You know that's the that
like a player know when they all in and they
gonna ride or die for a coach. But if a
coach is having peanut gallery, me sidebar with different people,
(01:21:02):
man players talk to. Even if players don't get along,
players talk too, because when that frustrating moment come, they
gonna air the coach out for pillow talking.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
Yeah, and so I just you know, I said my salutes.
Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
You know the people that was good to me, Jason Powell,
a couple of coaches, but I did sit down with
and and you know, give any a piece of my
mind and let them know like, hey, this is how
it is. Thez it was ain't gonna never. I was
just honest with him because it gave me a chance,
like I'm out of here, give me a chance to
be honest with you, like you're gonna be next anyway, sucker.
Speaker 2 (01:21:44):
And it was off to Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
Bro, not knowing you're getting traded as we like, imagine Luke,
imagine Luca you waking up.
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
I heard a all them, Claus.
Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
I heard a d was like texting everybody, good win great,
ready to go out there and get that dub.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
Like twenty minutes before.
Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
Hey did you I saw a video and they took
Max Christie name tang off the locker.
Speaker 1 (01:22:15):
I saw that too. I think that's but I said,
you know that's that fact. They come wrong, they take
them all down. Yeah, but that was However, I did
think it was a little like foreshadowing though, like with
the mantag coming down. And then also did you see
that ad interview from like recently where.
Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
He said to the guy like, man, you said it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
Yeah, he said, like like I'm on the track, Like
it was a little definitely a little foreshadow going on there.
Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Man all right, dum nation. They wanted to know what's
happening with the Warriors obviously our dumb nation.
Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
Uh, the team is at the top of the newshand
lines with Sham's and saying, and the Warriors are calling
everyone to pair a superstar with you and Steph? Can
you share exactly what the Warriors are looking for? And
then when there are rumors like this, how unsettling is
it in a locker room being the og?
Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
Like I said, I don't think it's very unsettling at all.
We know what we signed up for. We all, every
single one of us in that locker room know what
we signed up for and playing this game and being
a part of this business. So I don't think like
I said, I don't think anybody walk around like man
y'all calling The reality is, if they're calling the full
Lebron James, everybody in the locker room and Steph step
(01:23:40):
except Steph Curry to shut up and know that you
can be traded. So if they're calling superstars, there's not
a thing anyone in that locker room could say outside
of thirty. So to walk around unsettling because they reaching
out for superstars. You can fool yourself if you want it,
think that that that you can do something about that.
(01:24:02):
Your stress ain't gonna help you at all. And so
I don't think it's very unsettling at all. Now, It'd
be one thing if it was like the Warriors are
calling for a backup point guard, you know, or like
the Warriors are calling like that's one thing, but calling
on every superstar the name of the game like that,
(01:24:22):
And so I don't, now that's the name of the game,
you should be calling on every superstar.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
So I don't think that has.
Speaker 1 (01:24:30):
Done anything in our It hasn't even been mentioned in
our locker.
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
Room, my stuff. The Warriors begin a six game road
trip on Wednesday. I want to do something a little different.
I want to talk storylines for each team instead of
you know, usually how we talk matchups. Yep, that's cool, yes, sir,
all right, let's start. Let's start. Let's start with Utah first,
(01:24:55):
the Utah Jazz. This team is looking to keep acting
picks right. They want the number one pick, Cooper Flag.
Everybody is saying, how important is it for a franchise
to get the number one pick? Coming in this draft,
and what does that do for Utah with what they're doing.
Speaker 1 (01:25:16):
It's very important for Utah to get the number one
pick in this draft. Not to be racist, but Utah
is very white. It's like a very white place, and
so Cooper Flag like, I'm sure they're looking at us
like their next great hope, you know, and that he'd
(01:25:36):
fit in there. You know, it's from Maine, you know,
and so I think that's kind of a match made
in heaven, and I'm sure they they're doing all that
they can to try to get it to make that
match happen. I think for us, you know, they have
good v some good NBA players on that team, and
for us, we just got to make sure that we
stay locked in. But you know, I'm going because it
(01:25:59):
can you can ease we go lose that game. We
don't have any space to do that. But this is
Danny Ainge. Like Danny Ainge rebuilt the Boston Celtics that
we know as we know today off of this same
exact strategy, and he's proven that he can do it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
I think he'll do it again.
Speaker 1 (01:26:18):
But it's very important for them to get the number
one draft because they can't pay anybody to come to Utah.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
So you got to get the number one pick.
Speaker 1 (01:26:27):
Because they can't pay a number one pick talent to
come to Utah, can't pay him enough.
Speaker 2 (01:26:34):
They not getting one of them superstars at Land. Zero
percent chance.
Speaker 3 (01:26:38):
They can't get Jimmy Butler though he can wind up
in Utah as the last resort.
Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
You don't want to know whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:26:47):
You know what I'm saying, Bernie and Pat Off is
like Jimmy and I signed in an extension with Utah.
Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
He gonna really have that emo hair emo bangs in Utah.
He's gonna be a super email all right. Next is
the Los Angeles Lakers. Obviously the new look Lakers being
here in La Luca won't be playing. Most likely he
won't return until February A. Talk about the Lakers as
(01:27:17):
a threat. Talk about the Lakers right now without Luca.
You know they won I think four they went four
and one without a d How dangerous on the Lakers?
You know from now and then the next five to
ten years. I mean, now you have Lebron James and
Luca Doneons. You're dangerous. Can you figure it out?
Speaker 1 (01:27:37):
Can you figure everything out around on the defensive side,
of the ball, losing the rim protector like a d
all of those things.
Speaker 2 (01:27:43):
You have to figure those things out.
Speaker 1 (01:27:45):
But they got Lebron James and Luca donheons they always
have a chance to win the game.
Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
For the next five to ten years.
Speaker 1 (01:27:51):
I think, you know, they're in a great spot as
far as getting the Luca in opposite complete opposite of
what the problem that Utah has is the Lakers can
get people to sign there.
Speaker 2 (01:28:07):
You know, you can get people to come signed in LA.
Speaker 1 (01:28:10):
And so they have the opposite issue of the Utah
Jazz when it comes to that. But The's saying that
the next five to teen years looks great, but it
all depends on Luca's health. You know, Luca's health will
be the driver of what the Lakers look like in
the next five to ten years.
Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Yeah, we need Luca to have one of them Venice
Beach bodies. He gotta go out there, you know and
get on Venice Beach. We need we need Luca with
his muscle beach body.
Speaker 2 (01:28:38):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:28:39):
Next team, one of the teams that you love most
and value their expertise, the Chicago Bulls. Just China away, Zach.
There are reports that they're trying to get rid of
Bukovich and he's the long guy on the team who
(01:28:59):
will get moved in the next few days.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
There's also reports that they may get off of Alonzo Ball.
Talk about Chicago, Uh, they look like they're doing a
swap meet firesell What do they look like?
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
Fireself? For sure?
Speaker 1 (01:29:16):
I think they're all in on Josh Giddy as their
franchise player.
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
Do you think.
Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
I mean, that's what it looked like their franchise player
to get them to the top of the lottery at least,
you know.
Speaker 2 (01:29:29):
But you know, Chicago, I'm done. They're done, dude. Come on.
The organization moving, moving along, moving right along? All right?
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Next up is the Bucks. Now this is a game
that I do want to discuss. Uh, they kind of
got it together, you know. I think I let a
fire under Doc Rivers and the team. I asked you
what it was like to guard? Uh A d and Joker?
What is it like to guard?
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
You have to be ready to go each play and
you have to be ready to use your far arm
or else he going to put his shoulder in your
chest if you play, and you will fall and they
will not call it. So just forceful man, it's a
(01:30:21):
force that Yannis plays the game with. Obviously he's a
freak athlete, no pun intended, but just the force that
he plays with, Like, no one can really stop that force,
and it's hard to prepare for it because I'm not
sure any other player in the league outside of Lebron
James in his prime plays with that type of force
(01:30:45):
getting downhill. So but Yannis, you just it's a it's
a group effort. You got you gotta Bill Walls. You
can't just let him shoot. See gaps, He's going to
get right through those gaps and he's dunking the ball.
So you just got what ya that You have to
meet force with force.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
Yeah, I mean that thing a man in the half,
like he got a body in the half. That that
makes so much sense for the dude like that, because
he is unapologetic about knocking people over dunking on him.
I like, you honest, he a mean dude.
Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
He's a great guy. But he played me. You see
him CP get into it the other night. No, got
into it. He got into it.
Speaker 1 (01:31:32):
That's funny. Yeah, I got so I kind of check
him out. But yeah, no, he was playing constant pressure
for sure. Uh following the Bucks or the Revet Mavericks. Uh.
Their potential star lineup includes Kyrie Clay, p J. Washington,
A D and gofferd uh. Stephen Ay said, this is
(01:31:54):
the number one team in the West. Now do you agree?
Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
Oh no, I mean shit, we don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
It sound good, right, it looked good, but we don't
know how they about to rock talent wise, what they
did as far as like on paper, putting that squad together, Like,
you can't say they are number one seed when you
look at who's the number one seed? Okay, see, like
Dallas can beat Okay, see, Dallas can be Houston. Yeah,
(01:32:29):
Dallas can be Houston. You know, Dallas can beat Minnesota.
So they have the talent, they got the lineup. It's
really gonna be what that chemistry feel like.
Speaker 2 (01:32:45):
And Kyrie adjusted back to being the point guard and
ad adjusting to be a four. Yeah, So it's a
lot of adjusting going on. It's playing the four in
the NBA today.
Speaker 1 (01:32:57):
It's not the same thing as planning the four or
five years ago to totally different positions.
Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:33:02):
And he's been he's been saying, you know every year
in La hey man, I don't want to play the five.
I don't want to play the five. I don't want
to be a fine. Find me a center that I
can rock with. The Lakers was at their championship best
when I was playing the four. Talk about the difference,
because you do this a lot, you play four, you
(01:33:24):
go to five.
Speaker 2 (01:33:25):
You play the whole season at five.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
Talk about the difference now and what that four position
is versus the five in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:33:33):
The four is totally different now.
Speaker 1 (01:33:35):
A lot of times you can be guarden, just a
shooter or a wing that staged as four.
Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
It's not really like.
Speaker 1 (01:33:45):
You know, when I came into Lee Man, I had
to guard on the Marcus z bo Blake Griffin.
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
You know, Yeah, the list goes on and on right,
like these were the fours in the league then, Like
you don't really have.
Speaker 1 (01:34:01):
That now, Like everybody who's like that now has been
converted into a stretch five or a five that you
know that can shoot the three, and so.
Speaker 2 (01:34:13):
It's just a completely different position. Man.
Speaker 1 (01:34:15):
Rebounding is different because you're, like fours are used to.
Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
Banging banging down load.
Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
You know, you usually your forearms and then all of
a sudden, the rebound come off and you're fighting wedging
for position. Now as a four, you got to rebound
in space because your guys on the wing. So now
you got to leave that paint to go hit the
guy and you're rebounding in space, and it's a totally
different thing. So I just think the position requires a
(01:34:45):
totally different mindset, It requires a totally different name than
it did before.
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
The last game before All Star Weekend features the number
two seed Houston Rockets. I called that at the beginning
of the year, Remember that you did.
Speaker 2 (01:35:04):
So they was just man.
Speaker 3 (01:35:06):
They been looking great so far and there's been a
lot of talk about how impressive I mean Thompson is.
Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
You called that one.
Speaker 3 (01:35:14):
Uh, he just got a trouble double against the Knicks,
his first game winner against the Celtics. We're starting to
see he can do it all. Do you think he
has the potential to become a superstar in this league?
Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
So I think amen Thompson. I said this last year
about both of them. Actually, I think they special, man.
They are special young guys. They worked their ass off,
they're respectful. I got a lot of love and respect
for them. They from the town, and every time we
(01:35:49):
play against them, they come up to me, and they're like, Man, Draymond,
good to see you, man. I appreciate everything you did
for the town. They remind you of from Oakland. We
grew up watching y'all, like y'all motivated us to want more.
We had these goals when we were young that we
put together and in large part due to like we
were watching y'all. Yeah, Man, to have young guys come
(01:36:10):
up to you and say stuff like that, like it's
so special man, and and I'm you know, last year
when nobody was on the A Man and a Star train,
I said, Yo, I know everybody talking about what they're
doing offensively, but have y'all watched these guys like they
(01:36:31):
can move man defensively. They cover up so many mistakes
for people like and their own mistakes they can just recover.
It's crazy. But nonetheless, I do think he can be
a superstar because it ain't gonna all be about scoring.
And yet I think a Man has incredible ball skills. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:36:55):
I think he and his brother need to develop their
jump shots.
Speaker 1 (01:36:59):
M But I have zero doubt that they will because
they work so hard and so I know they'll develop
the jump shots and when they do, good luck. But
it's saying that I do think he's capable of being
becoming a superstar. So reason they both for top five
picks in the NBA draft because they have superstar potential
(01:37:20):
and I definitely think a man can become.
Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
One special, special talent.
Speaker 3 (01:37:25):
I totally agree, totally agree.
Speaker 2 (01:37:34):
All Star snubs.
Speaker 1 (01:37:35):
Let's talk about these All Star snubs all Star before
as a whole, before we get out of here. Who
do you think is the biggest All Star snell from
the East? Who do you think is the biggest All
Star snell from the West? And you can only pick
one of each.
Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
I am upset with the NBA and the basketball community
over the All Star weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
How to hell?
Speaker 3 (01:38:01):
Is LaMelo Ball the face of the league, the energy
of the league, bringing colture to the league.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Brother got the number one out.
Speaker 3 (01:38:13):
Trick, plays exciting times like this. Dude is the personality
we need in the All Star Game. This is the
type of game we need in the All Star Game.
This dude goes from the number one vote getter to
getting snubbed? Are you kidding me? How the coaches don't vote?
(01:38:36):
I mean I was in this predicament. I hey, LaMelo,
because I was in this predicament a lot where it's like, oh,
you gotta win, or like, what the fuck are you
an All Star?
Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
Are you nice?
Speaker 3 (01:38:49):
Put the nicest dudes on the court and stop making
all these goddamn concessions for somebody who play basic ball
on a better team, you know, and can get staff
because they got better people around them.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
Mellow ball.
Speaker 3 (01:39:02):
I'm pissed off. Somebody better put a mellow ball on
this All Star team. And then I would say, on
the West, Luca, how the fuck don't you have Luca?
What are we doing?
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
What are we doing? That's what I want to know.
Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
Are we turning this shit into like ay you and
you know, just because I don't know about this coaching boating,
like where the coach is here? Like, man, we want
to see the super stars and people who are having
great years, not people who are having great years on
(01:39:44):
good teams. And no, you're not an All Star. You
don't have an All Star gang. Get the fuck up
out of here.
Speaker 2 (01:39:53):
Give me the.
Speaker 3 (01:39:54):
Show, give me the entertainment. That's why I want to
go to All Star. Right, I want to see LaMelo,
I want to see Luca, right, I want to that's
we're buying we're buying those people's jerseys.
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
How do you have?
Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
I mean, come on, man, like shit, all right, I
got the LaMelo ballshit pissed me off when I was
in Charlotte, and being in the city like Charlotte you
kind of like in limbo, right, And so you know
somebody like LaMelo looking at this situation saying, look, I'm
doing all I can do, right, I'm trying to be
(01:40:31):
the face of the league.
Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
I'm putting on for Charlotte. What do I have behind
me to compliment me? Right?
Speaker 3 (01:40:39):
Or if the town ain't big enough to support what
I'm doing, like I may th all start that game
in Charlotte, Like I got snubbed in Golden State. But
when you and Charlotte, you gotta be winning, right, So
they got to put together a winner behind him. But
somebody like Mellow right now, he he probably like, yoh,
(01:41:01):
what the what the hell is going?
Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Like? Is anything can happen? Right, anything can happen.
Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
And now with this Luca thing, you're gonna have these
young superstars saying you know, shit, or get off the pope?
Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
What are we doing? I agree?
Speaker 1 (01:41:17):
And I think even if you take it a step
further and look at Fox who said I want to
be I'm not signing the extension and y'all know where
I want to go and got there right, So again
you know what I look at. Representation, Yes, representation is
the key largely determines how you are operated with, how
(01:41:41):
you are viewed, how you are dealt with in this league,
your representation. You have representation that's going to get ran over.
Mm hmm, forget about it. It ain't worry LaMelo bar not
being an All Star. Being in a position that he's
in is also a product of LaMelo's bar. And I
don't know who LaMelo ball agent is, but I do
(01:42:03):
know his All of this stuff that's happened, him getting snubbed,
all that as a product of representation.
Speaker 2 (01:42:11):
Yeah, you should not. He should.
Speaker 3 (01:42:13):
He was the leading All starbucke getter. I still think
he is the most exciting young player. I mean, he
my favorite player, bro. I can't even lie anytime he hooping.
I'm tuning in. The kids is tuning in and like
to have like you came into the season, you got
all this buzz to not capture that, for the team
(01:42:35):
to not capture, right, It's almost like if I'm the Hornets.
I gotta stand up and fight for this kid and
push this kid because from an organizational standpoint, you need that.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
You need that, You need.
Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
That for a free agent, you need that for like Yo,
you should be showcasing the shit.
Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
Out of this kid.
Speaker 1 (01:42:54):
Listen, BD, lamel O'ball is proper representational, way from a
great situation and a perennial All Star and possibly and
I think he's capable and could be the face of
the league. He will not be either one of those
three things without proper representation.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
Period.
Speaker 1 (01:43:21):
Like I said, nobody's going to be like Yo, LaMelo
Ball was snubbed.
Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
He ain't gonna got proper representation. Again.
Speaker 1 (01:43:29):
I don't know who his agent is, but I bet
my bottom dollar he don't have great representation. And when
you don't have great representation, people do whatever they want
to do to you.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
That's just that's just the facts.
Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
In this league, you don't have great representation, people handle
you however they want to handle you.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
And I think that's one of the reasons LaMelo Ball
got snugged.
Speaker 3 (01:43:55):
Man, if you want to if you want somebody that's
gonna be all in the video, all in the executive
director's office. You know haul on the PR person heels.
Come to the Draymond Show. What I'm saying, we get
you right, come to the show.
Speaker 1 (01:44:13):
We'll give you the gyms here because I guarantee you.
Not one person in Lamello's camp called and said, man,
this is also a product of your representation.
Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
We'll give you the gyms over here. Baby, come to
the Draymond Green Show with my dog bed give them.
Speaker 1 (01:44:36):
Speaking of which, on All Star, by the way, All
Star in San Francisco, I got Steph Curry for MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:44:42):
Yes, me too, no question. We need that. Man. We
need to the bag, gotta turn out the bank, gott
it turn out for All Star.
Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
Listen, it's been twenty years they did. I mean, now,
thank thank the Lord for y'all. Uh for what you'all do,
and how y'all put on the Bay. Like if that
don't happen to Bay, don't getting All Star.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
That's a fact, that's a fact. It's been twenty years.
We got to show up.
Speaker 3 (01:45:08):
We got tech, we got music, we got the Warriors,
the champs, right, we got legacy. I think the Bay
just need to show up, like everybody show up, show out,
you know, All Star Weekend we got to put on
for the city. We can't be you know, we can't
be just going for the pop for the pop culture.
Speaker 1 (01:45:30):
I agree, and I think this is a pop culture.
This is an opportunity too because All Stars haven't been
great like over the last five years, and so this
is an opportunity for the Bay to have like the
best one in recent memory, and also bring All Star
Weekend back because it's a little it's been a little challenged,
you know what I'm saying, and so I think, but
(01:45:51):
it's also been in tough cities. It was snowing like
crazy in Indianapolis last year. It was snowing like crazy
the year before that in Cleveland, you know, and so
or before and c Cleah, Utah.
Speaker 2 (01:46:07):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:46:07):
So, like this is an opportunity of great city to
bring All Star Weekend back to where All Star Weekend
was before.
Speaker 2 (01:46:16):
And I think the Bay gotta say and I'm looking
forward to it. Come on, Bell, let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:46:22):
Speaking of the bag, a couple more things are related.
I finally saw the preview of the Warriors alumni three
point context. I know you can't tell us who won,
but how did that come together? Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:46:38):
Shout out to the Warriors. They invited me out for
a three point shootout. I think it's a starry with
the NBA, so you.
Speaker 2 (01:46:47):
Get money, as you see. As you see, they had uh.
Speaker 3 (01:46:54):
Me, Chris mully and one of the greatest three point
shooters of all time and shooting Mitch Richmond the rock.
I mean, we was just doing so it was almost
like shooting golf, you know what. It was just walking laughing.
And then they set me up. Dr I'm gonna tell
you this. They set me up, young fella. You go first,
(01:47:17):
like bro, I ain't.
Speaker 2 (01:47:18):
I'm young that young yea. But I need some warm
up too, Hey mabe, I need some warm up.
Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
Let me get young fella. Go ahead, young fella got
it and look at Tim. Tim was Tim was over there.
Tim was over there. He wanted to get to his cigar.
But it was a fun time, man, as y'all know.
You know, I'm shooting against real NBA legends and Chris Mullen.
(01:47:49):
Is I tell you this, Chris Mullen, he still got
a racket. When I used to when I used to
work out for we believe, when I got hurt Chris
Mullen and Mitch Richmond when I was training in LA.
They moved to LA for three weeks and we worked
out at mister Jackson house.
Speaker 2 (01:48:07):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
So I worked out with Mulley and Mitch like the
three weeks I needed to get back to We Believe,
and we'd be in the gym every day, so I
have to shoot against these dudes do all the shooting drills.
Oh man, that was probably one of the best times
that I ever had because I got to work out
with legends. I got to train with legends, and I mean,
we was after it every day. And I tell you, dude,
(01:48:30):
Chris Mullen do not like losing, especially and he's not
losing those shooting games. So like me trying to come
back and get my shot right and Chris shoot his
left shot.
Speaker 2 (01:48:44):
It got I think that was a big.
Speaker 3 (01:48:47):
Reason when I came back from We Believe, how we
took off and propelled because I was just in so much.
I was in flowing rhythm and Chris Mullen just shot
my life out. So stay tuned because who knows who
knows my wins?
Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
Now, yeah, I'll be tuning in to see who win.
Speaker 1 (01:49:12):
But yeah, Molly, Molly, still, I'm sure money can still
shoot that thing.
Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
Molly got a clip, bro, I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:49:20):
Sure all right, man, all Star weekend wouldn't be an
All Star weekend without announcements. I want to first make
an announcement and say congratulations to my dog for opening
up Mesky, a Ritzy Ethiopian Dominican fusion restaurant that's one
(01:49:42):
thousand Larkin Street and Lower Knob. Heelled this march. Hey,
it's up, Come on Mesky. Tell me about Mesky.
Speaker 2 (01:49:51):
We lit.
Speaker 1 (01:49:52):
First off, it's gonna be it's gonna be great food,
it's gonna be great vibes, the drinks are want to
be incredible, Like it's a bar forward restaurant. The whole
idea kind of came with a bar forward restaurant, Like
we want that to be a thing.
Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
It's gonna be great tombs.
Speaker 1 (01:50:12):
But more importantly, bringing some black culture back to San Francisco.
You know this, this is a city that used to
be black culture and now there's no black culture in
this city, and so just really wanted to bring some
of our culture back here. Like if you want to
go to a spot and experience some black culture but
(01:50:37):
have a great meal, have a great, good, clean fun,
say like that's that's what we're trying to bring back here.
Speaker 2 (01:50:44):
You know, it's a it's a class thing.
Speaker 3 (01:50:47):
You want to like be able to catch.
Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
A vibe absolutely, like a real vibe absolutely, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
And so for me partner, you know, Guma a good
friend of mine, Guma Fi Sal he brought he brought
the idea to me like a year and a half ago,
and uh, you know, we were kind of look scouting.
We've been looking at venues for the last year and
(01:51:14):
a half. And every time that we like, dang, that
ain't it. You know, he kind of go radio signed.
I'm like, all right, I guess we ain't doing it.
And then he come back like, yo, I found these things.
I'm this much further in our planning and this thing
and that thing, like just working head down. And then
we went to my wife and I went to a concert. No,
(01:51:39):
we went to see Martin Lawrence at Oracle and afterward,
Hayes was like, man, where can we go in Oakland,
like get the drain, get some food some So we
asked Guoma Goooma lives in Oakland and he was like, oh, man,
we can go sober Mesa. And in turn we go there,
(01:52:05):
we're having drinks, we're eating and Cheff Nelson comes up
to the table. Chef Nelson has two restaurants in Oakland,
and he comes up to the table. We're kicking and
we're chopping it up with him. He comes back to
the table. Then him and Goomer proceeds to have a conversation.
And now Chef Nelson is our partner in the restaurant
as well. And so Chef Nelson, with his Dominican background,
(01:52:28):
Gooma's Ethiopian. We got an Ethiopia dominicanfusion restaurant. And like
I said, it's going to be great food.
Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
Food.
Speaker 1 (01:52:38):
It's usually hard to nail the vibe and the food.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
You usually can get one another.
Speaker 1 (01:52:44):
We want to make sure that this is a restaurant
that you're coming to where you know you're getting a
great meal, you know you're getting great drinks, you know
you're getting great service.
Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
You're going to have a great time. I love that, man,
San Francisco. Neath that, let's go go to Meskie. We
own't yes, Sir Ylpi and dominic confusion man. Shout out
to you, bro for putting on for the city, for
bringing culture to the city, because you know I'll be
up in the in the city every week and we
(01:53:12):
meet that San Francisco neath that, the Bay Area neath that,
Like that's what the Bay Area is known for is
our culture, as for our diversity. So shout out to
you the grand opening.
Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
We gotta be there, dumb Nation. We gotta show up.
We gotta run it, run it, run it, run it up. Yes, sir,
and we most definitely don't do that.
Speaker 1 (01:53:34):
Make sure you get to invite my brother. We set
it out how we're supposed to set it out. Make
sure y'all come out check it out. We're gonna have
a good time. We're gonna eat some good food. But
until next time. That's a wrap from this episode of
The Draymond Green Show with the OGBD.
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
