Our producer, Josh Rodriguez, is a Nick super fan I'm

read in a New York accident, so that's gonna be
super fun. We're also talking JJ Redick and Clear's viral
question to JJ Redick, and then at the end of

JJ Redick news. So it's a full show of basketball

in photos and wordgate. Jings's hosted via the Jethro Jenkins,
John well Less, Dragonfly.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
The podfeed, please subscribe on YouTube to get notifications of
when we're going live. We've really been enjoyed doing these
live shows with the chat I'm sure the chat will
have plenty to say this evening, but let's start with
the breaking news since we're live right now. Michale Bridges
to the Knicks for about a dozen picks. Uh, lady
and gentlemen, what are your thoughts on that trade?
Speaker 8 (03:49):
Yeah, that's my thoughts. Yeah, that's why they gave me
the big book.
Speaker 7 (04:02):
No, I'm so excited, like I've been, like, I feel
like it was just like uh like fanfic writing that
the Nova Knicks we're gonna like be complete with the
last infinity stone of mckail bridges this year, and then
everyone was like, why would the Nets like help make
the Knicks better? That makes no sense. And I was like,
you're right, that makes no sense. That's never gonna happen.
So can't believe this actually came to Fruition could not
(04:23):
be more excited. I was already so excited to watch
Knicks basketball next year, and now I just am like
counting the days.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, it's it's it's a hell of a pickup.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
And you know, we were having the discussion before we
went live, and I was like, bro, I think the
Knicks are good enough to like when the East now
and when the East. Yeah, good enough to go to
the Fountain. And the whole thing is I had this
same thought about Okay see, once they got Caruso, I
was like, Okay, I think, oh, it's good enough to
go to the finals now, and that's the where we're
at now with someone's parody in the league house wide open.
It's like, these are the guys who are moving the
(04:55):
needles now, right, not the Kd's and the Lebron's. You know,
you get like, you know, a guy like like Carroza,
who's it was an All World defender going to okay See,
I think, OKAYC is good enough to win the West.
Now you get a guy like mcal Bridges, you know,
going to the Knicks. I think the Knicks are good
enough to win the East now. Like this is the
world that we're in right now with so much parody
in the league, and I honestly like it.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I like it much more, bro, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Good basketball teams winning basketball that than't just like good duos.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
You feel what I'm saying. So I enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
But yeah, I mean, it doesn't make sense for the
Ness to do it, But of course the Nets did it.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
If it doesn't make sense. That's organizations that gonna do
what doesn't make fucking sense, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
It's so hilarious how the biggest moment they're like, yeah,
New York is our city because mccallis fallout from the KD.
Kyrie experience, right, Like that's how this experiment ends, with
the Knicks get and macaal bridges and being possibly good
enough to go to the finals.
Speaker 7 (05:38):
Now, yeah, they have to like take their like lunch
pail and go back home and like rethink their lives now,
which is what getting all those pixes. I feel like
it's like the basketball ball equivalent of like, Okay, I'm
gonna take my ball and go home. But I actually
like looking at what that trade was, I feel like
it's kind of amazing too, because the Knicks got to
maintain like I mean, Bogdanovic was not playing particularly well
(06:01):
for them, and as far as like mortgaging the future,
like who knows what the East is going to look
like in a few years, Like this is the moment
to strike and they you know, came Indiana Pacers revelation
of a game seven away from the conference finals. So
I feel like giving up future assets in Bogdanovich and
being able to get a player like Mikhail Bridges who
(06:21):
was supposed to be a number one option but is
a super solid number two or three option. Like I
can't believe this For the next so awesome.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
Miles in the chat just said, Damn John could fit
all the Nets picks in that water.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Bottle, every every water amino acids in here too. No,
I got it. But that's what the red is. They're
not asten to the strawberry flavored Oklahoma highly illegal y Oklahoma.
I love every joke they've said about that.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I mean, they gave a lot of picks, you know
what I'm saying, But like the picture number two picks
like in the twenties, Like, yeah, that's a you know
what I mean.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
You gotta you know, I'm a Laker fan. I don't
give a fun about draft picks.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
You Yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah, that's it. That's it. Yeah?
Who who was it? That was?
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Was a Ron artest or someone was just like you're
talking about a fourteen year old, a fourteen year old
out there somewhere versus.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
You know what I mean, Like who gives a ship? Yeah? Okay,
our first message?
Speaker 3 (07:21):
What on on the other side of the coin Antipolum
the nets. Again, we don't have the Boston Championship team
without the Nets picks either, You know it is. It
is kind of a crack, But those Nets picks hit different.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, but I'm a firm believer if you, if you
are a championship team, fuck those picks, bro. Like, bro,
They're gonna be like number eighteen, number twenty one, number
twenty two, you know, for the next few years. Ship
them ships out if you, if you can make some
ship shake that will make you a legit title contender
for sure.
Speaker 5 (07:46):
Picks are of rated. We're in a climate apocalypse. Like,
just be good.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Now, just catch your credit card out.
Speaker 7 (07:55):
You know what's gonna be even going to be in
twenty twenty nine. Are to play basketball on this planet.
Let's just do it now.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
My first comment here from Josh Rodriguez, our producer who's
a NICKED super fan. The World Tour is back on baby.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
To me, I have seen it floating around and I
have never felt more like Grandpa's the.
Speaker 7 (08:14):
World Tour meme. Nothing could bring me greater joy than
to explain this name to you. This is the role
I was born to play. Okay, So when Justin Timberly,
do you hear that Justin Timberlake got arrested for g
u I okay, So when he got arrested, under his
breath he muttered, this is like one of the most
pathetic moments I've ever heard in my second hand embarrassment
was like off the charts.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
But he like muttered to his breath.
Speaker 7 (08:34):
I don't know if it was like in the back
of the cop car while he was waiting for bookings
or whatever it was, he muttered under his breath, this
is gonna ruin the tour. And the police officer was
like a gen z or who didn't know who he
was or anything about him, and he was like, what tour?
And then Justin Timberlake was like the world tour and
that's how the name was born.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
He didn't know who to fuck.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Justine like, was that means the world is going in
the right direction? Good job, jen Zis that doesn't mean
that too? Yeah, yeah, funny ship is.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
I was aware of the whole cop not knowing who
he was, and I know that this cop has like
you know, has has been complained against in the Hamptons
and ship They're like he.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Doesn't give any special treatment to us. I'm like, good
for him, that's what.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
America.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Josh says. I'm not going to read this in the
New York Accident.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
Josh says he loves the trade Michale showed and Phoenix
you can play off ball. Fantastic defender. This is real
basketball talk, Josh, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I like it? I like it. Continue.
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Yeah, he says, move White Dante to the bench. He
didn't say white Dante, but move why Dante to the bench.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Right there.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
He says he doesn't know if they can resign O
G now though, and we'll be interested to see if
they move Julius.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
We were saying before he started, they don't have O G.
How do you feel about him? Then? OG is such
a he's such He's incredible.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
You know, he's the best three and D guy in
the league, Like you know what I mean, Like the
numbers say he's the best the corner three point shooter.
He's an all defensive world player. I remember when, you know,
going back to the picks conversation we had when everyone
went when Memphis wanted to give like four first rounders
for him, and everyone's like Memphis is fucking crazy.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I was like, no, I get it. I get it
because you look at Og.
Speaker 3 (10:16):
Og is a player who you don't necessarily look at
him in the scope of him as an individual talent.
You look at him at what's your tributes to making
the team a team? Right, Like and Memphis would have
had a starting lineup of Desmond Bane of John Desmond Bane, Og,
Triple J and Steven Adams at that time. You absolutely
pulled the trigger on that. You know what I mean,
you give those first four first rounds up for that.
(10:37):
So yeah, but yeah, Og, he's so he's so vital
to what I think New York ceiling is. And I
think they got to make some shit shake and chuck
try to get him back.
Speaker 7 (10:47):
Imagine if stay with me, they keep Og, they retain him,
and they trade Randall for depth because they don't need Randal. Arguably,
I would say at this point, with the McHale addition,
if they are able to keep Og like a like
a backup point guard and like some sort of like
I don't know, like space.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Yeah, the wild thing is, I think we're at the
point where we trust the Knicks front office to get
this right.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
What really, like, like you talked about we're in the
in dates.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
You know, that's that's how you know.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yeah, I'll tell you who's the Who's the saddest man
on the planet right now? Donovan Minchell bro you got
a lock in with Cleveland a dog? It's over for you.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
It's like that Patrick meme where he's like, is it
Patrick the SpongeBob meme where he's like looking through the
window at his friends all playing outside.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Yeah, here's my here's my personal take on this. It
feels like they're thinking they can bring back o g
or why would they trade that many picks? Bridges by
himself is worth it, but the difference between og and
Bridges is.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Not worth six picks. That's my personal take. Not Jack
sure standable. Okay, all right, let's talk about I.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Just had one more thing to the Mikale.
Speaker 7 (12:02):
I'm sorry, the Nicks is like my favorite thing to
talk about, So you're gonna have to like drag me
off and off the zoom to like shut up about it.
But okay, so just last thoughts. There's an intangible element
to Mikaale because he's one of the original Villanova boys,
and I know that's kind of like a meme or
like a trope at this point. But it's more than
you can just see on paper as far as like
who he's been as a player up to this point,
(12:23):
because these guys are all super good friends that won
a championship together in college.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
So like we saw what.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
That can do for the Knicks last year as far
as their chemistry, their comfortability with each other on the court,
like knowing where to throw the pass, and I feel
like it's you can't really put a price on finding
the last like literal infinity stone of that from the
Villanova guys.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
So I feel like that's a factor.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
I love those stories.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
I eat all that shit up, Like give us the
grainy videos from them hanging out in the dorms, like
for sure, Jackson says, last Knicks item. He put a
poll in the chat. Can the Knicks make the finals
next year? Fifty nine percent?
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Yes? Wow, let's go.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
The New York exceptionalism, baby, Tyler.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Are they getting you back or what?
Speaker 3 (13:13):
I don't think I'll ever be back, but I I
I admire what they're doing from a distance, and I'm
happy for Knicks fans. I never had a problem with
the Knicks fans. I was always that fucking front office,
and it was always.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Chet, where are you gonna go once Broun retires. I'm
gonna be a country. He's gonna be a gonna be
a players.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
He's gonna be like every younger than us.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
He's gonna be like every basketball fan one day younger
than us. He's gonna root for his favorite players.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
I'm saying, okay, okay, so all players, Wow, okay, cool, cool.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Right, Tyler, You'll be like honest, and I mean, I
mean John Willett, whoever?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Will it matter?
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Like we're gonna Winby's gonna be in like his fourth
year by then.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I mean, I mean, doesn't even matter.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
You know you're gonna be a Spurs fan.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I'm for sure a Wimby fan, absolutely sure. Yeah, as
a franchise if I'll ever be a fan.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
But yeah, Josha's hashtag come home, Tyler, that's.
Speaker 7 (14:10):
My Lebron insurance plan is the next Right now. I'm
sort of like one foot in, one foot out. I
have a West Coast team and an East Coast team.
But when he retires, I'm all in my New York roots.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Yeah, I fuck with that eventful week in basketball with them.
I appreciate them moving the free agency windows so that
we could, you know, not have an off season of
any kind.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
It's Nice is a basketball podcast zero.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
The Lakers officially announced, as we talked about before, that
JJ Redick is the new coach of the team. He
had his introductory press conference on Monday. Claire managed to
ask Claire won the press conference because she asked the question.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
They got two swear words out.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Of JJ Reddick, which is scandalizing enough that it led
First Take today. I saw a bunch of grumpy old
sports writers, you know.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah, tweeting about it.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Uh, Claire, tell us about the press conference and your
impression of how JJ did and uh and tell everyone
about your your viral question.
Speaker 7 (15:15):
Oh my gosh, Well that was crazy because, uh, the
coolest thing to me that happened in the press conference
was they, you know, they went through the normal beat
writers all got to ask a question, and then like
Ramona Shelbourne and some like the bigger names got to
ask a question. And then Mitch the Lakers head of
Lakers PR, was like, all right, last question, and then
Rob Polinka actually stepped in, which I feel like is
(15:37):
a testament to how well JJ was doing in the
press conference, and was like I saw some other hands raised,
like did everybody who wanted a question get to ask
a question?
Speaker 5 (15:46):
Because like, these people came a long.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Way, and that's the closest thing to a five star
performance review you could get forty minutes into literally is yeah,
press conferences general managers do not say no, no, no,
let's got a work question.
Speaker 7 (16:00):
Yeah, Like he's making us look really smart right now, Like,
please please ask him more questions because he honestly, I mean,
like you know, today's information notwithstanding, like he absolutely bodied
that press conference like he was.
Speaker 5 (16:14):
I thought he.
Speaker 7 (16:15):
Came off extremely prepared, poised, intelligent, funny, self effacing humor,
emotionally intelligent as far as like kind of knowing what
beats to hit and being able to strike that balance
between sort of like poised and prepared but also honest
and candid.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
So I thought he was incredible. I was like, damn,
it was guya rough for president.
Speaker 7 (16:37):
Like I was sitting there like like shit, I'm like,
I don't remember ever being like impressed at a press conference.
Impressed like wow, this young man, you know, Like I
was like, I mean, normally press conferences are like if
they're not super boring, and stale. They're a win. You know,
Normally it's just a bunch of really canned answers and
they're not very like delivered in a super compelling fashion.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
So I was really impressed with that.
Speaker 7 (17:01):
And then yeah, so it was like towards the end
of the press conference and a lot of people had
gotten questions already, so I could tell that JJ was
kind of getting like a little bit looser, and I
had several different questions prepared, and I was like kind
of trying to decide which one when they called on
me I was going to ask, and I was like,
I think I'm going to throw in like a lob
to be spicy if he wants to be spicy. Like
(17:23):
I kind of like left it open ended. I asked him, like,
you know, for people who haven't seen it. I just
asked him which kind of misconceptions about him that he's
had to hear online or wherever over the last few weeks,
as he most looking forward to being able to dispel
in his new position, and so I kind of like
left room obviously for him to kind of take that
a couple of different directions.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
And would you would you agree? I thought with his
first step into the route. I thought he was going
to brush the I thought he was going to blow
the question off, like he initially looked like he was
going to do it, like I'm not worried about any
of that, Like that's where I thought he was going.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
And then you should almost see him. I've watched the
video several times. You can almost see him decide to
not go that silence.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Yeah. He kind of reminded me. Are you guys are
succession heads as well?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Right? Yes?
Speaker 5 (18:07):
Do you remember the I.
Speaker 7 (18:09):
Think it was season one, maybe season finale or no,
season two, season finale where Kendall's giving the press conference
and you think he's gonna like take the bullet for
his dad, and then all of a sudden, he just
sort of pivots and is like and that's why Logan Roy.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
You know, it kind of reminded me of that.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
Because it felt like you could just like it was
like a plot twist, and I was like, oh, plot twist.
But I kind of the reason I phrased the question
that way was because I knew that if he was
in the mood to showcase a little bit more of his.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
You know, like motherfuckerness than he could, you know.
Speaker 6 (18:41):
So so yeah, his answer to the question, so say
what his answer the question?
Speaker 1 (18:45):
I am going to use ed Ward as John written
all over it. I cannot wait to tap it.
Speaker 5 (18:53):
To add to you. There we go. That was the word.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
I was like.
Speaker 7 (19:00):
His answer was, and I'm paraphrasing a little like, you know,
that's a valid question, which I thought was nice, like
he he didn't, just like I felt like him saying
that was sort of like a him attempting to show
respect to me for doing my job before he then
basically said up, but I don't give a shit. Yeah,
so he was like, I, you know, that's valid question,
but I don't have a good answer for you.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
Dramatic pause, because I really don't give a fuck.
Speaker 7 (19:25):
And then he was just going on to say, you
know that he wants to coach the Lakers, and he's
worried about his team and his players and maximizing their
careers and winning basketball games, not like what you know
the people online have to say about him. And he's
but he did mention he's like I've heard everything the
last two weeks, which we're like, we know, like you're
super online, Like we know you heard everything. You're like
(19:47):
painfully online but but yeah, I thought it was like
very it was almost like a dramatic reading a little
bit like with the like a little pause in there too.
He's like, but I don't have a good answer for
you because I don't give a fuck.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
You know.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
It was like he's he's perfect LA.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
Lakers coach to me, and that you know what I mean,
Like he loves the spotlight, he loves the drama, like
he's eating it up, you know. So I feel like
that's that's what Darvin Ham. That's one of the many
things that I think Darvinham was lacking was just the
ability to sort of I think it's an understated important
thing about being a head coaches. You're kind of the
CEO in a lot of ways of the basketball team,
(20:26):
and you're dealing with all the like communications and like
the public facing stuff and interfacing with the public and
just being a basketball genius or being you know, a
good locker room guy doesn't mean that you're good at
the like CEO responsibilities. And I think that's where a
lot of coaches end up falling short. And I think
obviously JJ is phenomenal at that.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
So yeah, John Tyler answer, I was gonna say you
asked the millennial who's need deep in NBA Twitter how
they felt about Behater's face.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
You know he could resist. We know what Clouthie's got from.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
But in all seriousness, I think I think this you
gave us an all time here. I think this quote
is going to follow JJ throughout his career. I truly
believe that because you know, JJ says, you know, he
isn't paying attention to the noise, but the noise is
there and it's not going anywhere because the fact of
the matter is he's an experiment.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
He's a risk.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
He's an incredible basketball mine, right he's but he's still
he is still in a risk.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
You know, he's still an experient.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
They're still taking a gamble on And this quote is
going to follow him, Like it's either going to be
you know, incredible for him in a thirty for thirty
when when we see how successful he's been as a coach,
or it's going to be like you said a SpongeBob
me one season later and going to his press conference
when he's getting fired or whatever. So so yeah, like
like this is either going to be like the most
infamous shit he ever said or the most badass shit
(21:41):
he ever said.
Speaker 6 (21:43):
I love I love to know if JJ or Tyler
spend more time on Twitter each.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Day J either. I think I think JJ might be
man JJ.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (21:52):
I feel confident JJ's a burner boy for sure.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
I think everybody.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
I think every NBA player, you know, people like that,
are burning boys for show.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Got he got he get his issue. You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
On the side, joint, you feel me, But yeah, I
was really I'm not excited about this higher you know
what I mean. Like I told you, like I didn't
want any experiments with Brin. I'm tired of the experiments.
You've seen enough of them. You know what I'm saying.
I want to see him go out with at least
somebody we know can give him a good shot. You
don't know if they can do with the team necessary.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
We can't. We can't.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Yeah, I mean, neither of them are available. But that's
what I wanted, you know what I'm saying. But him,
how he spoke and him, I think it's necessary for
a Lakers coach to understand the situation, understand all that
people are talking, and know what people are saying and
not give a fuck. And that's very important because they're
gonna be talking and you have to not give a fuck.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
So hearing that.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Particular answer from the question you asked like that made
me more confident in his ability, you know what I'm saying,
to maneuver as a head coach, like you know, yeah,
but I mean.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
I'm still not all the way in, but I.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Feel you have to have that that disposition in order
to be good at this job, particularly if you're a
fucking experiment. This is your first year of a coaching
and you have that bright out light on you. I
don't know if he actually does give a fuck, like
maybe you know, the next year, it turned out he
did give a fuck.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
You know what I'm saying, that he was tweaking under
the bright lights. But we'll find out. And that's where
I met with the situation is we'll see my nigga.
But I like how you answered the question. You feel
what I'm saying, we're.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Speaking, we're the That's one I feel like John's gonna
give us about three.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
I had to do it. I had to do Bro. Sorry,
we're where the three of you.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Surprised at all that people still have the energy in
twenty twenty four, for the saying the F word at
a press conference is unbecoming of a head coach, Like,
were you surprised people still have that energy? Or John,
did you grow.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
Up in the church enough that it didn't It didn't
surprise you.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
About grew up in church, But I was still cussing.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
They often say, Lewis, we cursed it in the second
in the sanctuary.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
I was in a church yesterday, cursed me yesterday. But anyway, brother, No,
I feel like I'm surprised. I'm not surprised.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
No. I think being on Twitter as like, you can't
surprise me how weird you are when your perceptions.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
You know what I'm saying, it's just f bombs? Who
gives a fuck? You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (24:24):
And I do think I do think he knows that
that would have got people's attention as well, and he
still said it. And I think that is a part
of having the disposition that's necessary as well, because you're
gonna have to make some decisions and people are not gonna.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Like you have to be comfortable in that ship as well.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
And after he showed that he knew what the reaction
was gonna be, he knew that people are gonna it's
gonna light the Internet on fire.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
But he also knew he was gonna get some blowback
and he didn't care, and.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
It was also necessary. I don't care doesn't hit the
same as I don't give a fuck.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
No, yeah, it doesn't know it was I don't give
a fuck. That gota that got a stamp on it.
You feel.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
Like spicing, like when he said, like I really don't
give a fuck, you know, like that.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
New York. Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
I'm not surprised at all, just because like when you
say the guy is blue on Twitter, there are always
people in your mentions like how do you know? Have
you like have you been up there? Like you know
what I mean, So everything you say, there's gonna be
people who have a problem with it. And also if
there's one thing I've learned from being active on NBA Twitter,
it's like the amount of like herb fucking couch GM
(25:30):
like pearl clutching assholes that there are out there is
like they proliferate. Man, there's so many of them, and
they're just like, how dare you ruin the sanctity of
our press conflict? And they're they're literally working at like
Wells Fargo, you know what I mean, And they're just
like back in my day, a press conference was. But yeah,
(25:55):
I'm not surprised at all. People are gonna find something
to be They would have taken umbrage with something in
that press comp and of course that was the spiciest
thing he said, because he was so composed and poised
and whatever, and so they were just sort of like
reaching for anything to I think be upset about. But
he just because you win the press conference doesn't mean
you're going to be a great coach. But I do
(26:15):
think that he absolutely won the press conference.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Yeah, I listened to there's a political podcast I listened
to if someone made the point because the president's debates
are coming up in I think two days here, and
this is a guy who's a former advisor to President
Obama said, it's so weird that we use debates as
a way to select a president because there's no analog
to the job.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
So the president never debates anyone about anything. You listen to.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
Policy pitches, you listen to three or four different ideas,
and you pick one and you tell people what to do.
You don't sit down with the president of Germany to
hash shit out one on one like that only happens
at the debate, And I feel like, similarly, there's nothing
else to judge JJ Redick on because he's only done
a press conference as a head coach. He hasn't coached
a game. They still haven't decided. It sounds like if
(27:03):
he's going to coach in the summer League or not,
et cetera, et cetera.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
But I think there's a little more analog.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
To coaching with the press conference because of what you
talked about John with this the CEO thing. Do you
guys think this means anything that he did well at
the press conference or is it just it's the only
thing we have to talk about right now.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
I mean, coaching is persuading people, right, and I think
all of us got a little persuaded on Okay, he
might he might have what it takes.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
We'll see, right.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
I don't think anyone came out of this with all
he's not the guy confirmed right, Like, no, No, he
for sure you know, tilted the scales in his favorite
bit to how he might possibly be the That's like
I said, coaching, A big part of coaching is interpersonal relationships.
How you relate to how you resonate with people, and
he resonated with us during this press go Also.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Like one thing about Darvin is when he would talk
after making a silly decision, he.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Just added more frustration.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Like I think he'll be able to he'll understand the
situation and be like, Okay, yes, I'll fucked up speak
to it and speak to how it's going to be changed.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
You know what I'm saying. Yeah, so at least I.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Can be comfortable in those situations where you know, like
he's going to give me something, you know what I mean,
in the in these type of situations where I need
to hear you, you know, say say something in particular
to like changing what happened where I think Darvin was
just avoiding shit.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
I don't think we have to worry about that.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
But with JJ so I think I think like having him,
you know, after during tough times, after difficult games, you
know on the mic, you know, being him will be
much more comforting what we had. But I mean, that
doesn't I still give. I don't care about that as much.
I really, you know, I want to see what he
does in the game, you know what I mean.
Speaker 7 (28:41):
Yeah, for sure, we'll see the other thing he said
that I thought was either like a really good sign
or just a sign that he's smart and knows the
right things to say in that moment, which it is
kind of hard to differentiate.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
Sometimes in that scenario.
Speaker 7 (28:53):
Is he said, like right off the bat, basically like
I know what the expectations are when you coach Los
Angeles Lakers. It's like championship or buys every single year,
Like this is a team that expects championships. And I
like understand that, and that's that's the expectation, and that's
what I signed up for. And I think that was
a huge point of emphasis with Darvin, and especially like
when I was reporting on him getting fired, Like what
(29:15):
I kept hearing from people as sort of the like
turning point where things started to go south for him
with the Lakers was when he had that response in
that press conference where he was like, people are living
and dying with every game, and that's just this is
not the organization for you. If people in living and
dying with every game and having a super impassioned fan
base is daunting for you.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
Like this is one of the most.
Speaker 7 (29:35):
Famous, storied, beloved franchises in all of sports, and their
fans are extremely passionate and have extremely high expectations. So
I thought JJ like leaning into that in that press
conference and setting the tone for that was really smart.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
On his hat said why do people care so much?
Is unacceptable? Saw Charlotte, you feel there.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
We sat on the pot after he said that. He
fired himself when he said that. I mean, it's just
like you're the coach of the Lakers. Yes, people are
living and dying with every game. That is, like, whether
you think they're framing or not, that's your fans.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Yeah, you know, that's the job.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Like the Yankees, Cabs, and Lakers. That's the holy trinity
of American sports fandom.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Dope, you know.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Sorry, Like yes, it's you know, like people talk about like, oh,
like are the expectations realistic for Dak Prescott or Tony
rom or whatever.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
They're the fucking coach. They're the quarterback of the fucking Cowboys.
Know that. But guess what I mean.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
You have a guaranteed uh color commentator job after you retire.
You got all the endorsement deals you want. It's the
same thing with the Lakers. JJ Redick is getting eight
million dollars a year as a guy who has never
coached in the NBA. It's there's there's there's enough upside
that I don't really feel too bad for people who
are bothered by the pressure, the intensity to that point
(30:52):
the game. Jackson's put in the chat a poll, will
JJ Reddick be thought of as a successful Lakers coach?
Fifty four percent of people say no, Frank Vogel won
a championship, he got fired.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
So I think that's a fair response. But what do
you guys think of that?
Speaker 4 (31:07):
Four percent of people think JJ Reddick will not be
thought of as a successful Lakers coach in our.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Chat, I think it goes back to the conversation we
had where we were like, we want the Lakers to
do right by Bron, We want the Lakers to get
a coach, and they was gonna get you know, do
right by Bron. And my whole thing is, yes, JJ
doesn't have any experience. We all know that, but what
if this is the guy that Bron. I'm not buying
for a second that they weren't fucking communicating or whatever.
(31:32):
You know, I know we know for sure that oh
Claire who who who groaned in the in the fresh
conference when they said when JJ said Lebron and I
did not discuss it.
Speaker 7 (31:42):
I don't know because I was sitting in the way back,
but honestly, like so I would have agreed with you,
and like because like common sense and logic would indicate
that this was like who Lebron wanted to.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Be the coach.
Speaker 7 (31:53):
I have heard some stuff in the last couple of
days that makes me think that that might not be
the case.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Yeah, I think, yeah, I think the work around they'
using here is you know, I wasn't calling him after
interviews and we were comparing notes, No, but we all
the implication they wanted us to have as Brown was
hands off. He wasn't saying who his guy was, and
that's bullshit. We all know his guy was JJ. He's
doing a fucking podcast with the dude, you know, like, bro,
this is not a conspiracy. There a podcast and the
(32:21):
theme of the podcast is we see basketball at a
higher level than most people.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Like come on, though, hypothetically if you were coaching in
a championship game.
Speaker 7 (32:29):
That was so funny and he's like for your kids,
I mean, like that was hilarious. I just like I'm
starting to get and maybe this is just me, Like
this is like PTSD, like, you know, abandoned min issues
or something. But I'm starting to get a little bit
like I'm starting to feel like there's a little bit
more credence to the idea that he could leave. I'm
(32:51):
not like reparding anything or like breaking any news or anything,
but like I was definitely in the camp of like,
there's no way he's going anywhere.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
He's coming back to the Lakers.
Speaker 7 (32:59):
I still say I I would say, I feel probably
seventy five percent confident that that's the case. But I
don't feel like it's completely outside the realm possibility.
Speaker 6 (33:06):
Don't say that for him to leave now.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
If that's the case, then I don't I don't know.
Speaker 7 (33:12):
I think I mean, let me put it this way,
if he ends up leaving, then we'll know that he
wasn't directly.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
Involved in the JJ higher, you know.
Speaker 7 (33:20):
But I mean I would say it's still like I
hope this doesn't get aggregated. I really think it's probably still,
by leaps and bounds, the most likely outcome that he
will stay. But I wouldn't be like, I wouldn't be
like completely bold over if he didn't.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
I guess I do.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Mike, you were talking about is this the next pat
Riley could be you feel me.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Like it, But.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
For me, I'm looking at pat Riley's team, look at
the team that he you know what I'm saying, that
he had, you know that he took on. You feel
me like, this is not that team, bro, So will
he be successful? I mean it's it's I don't I
don't think it's set up for him to be with
the team they have.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
You know what I'm saying, the years.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
It brought bronze in year forty, what are they going
to add for him?
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Not sorry for you? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah right right right,
you know.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
What I'm saying, like, I don't I don't see it
being I don't think it's a successful team with or
without him.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Oh so that actually?
Speaker 5 (34:21):
Can I can?
Speaker 7 (34:22):
I actually throw topic at you guys because I wanted
after the press conference, I thought of something that I
wanted to talk to you guys about.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
How did you guys.
Speaker 7 (34:29):
Feel about the fact that I felt like Rob and
I feel like this isn't getting covered a lot, partially
because of that viral JJ quote, But I thought Rob
was sort of like starting to set the scene for
them not making many aggressive changes this summer, and like
at the trade deadline, I remember him being like, Oh,
we're gonna we're saving our picks because we're gonna have
three picks then in the summer, in the off season,
(34:50):
and then we can like make a real big move
that's actually going to move the needle. And then Rob
talked I don't know if you guys watched the full
press conference, but he talked a lot about how difficult
the second Apron was going to make trades and how
they're going to lean into player development, and like very
much was changing his tune on that. And also it
felt like sort of tempering expectations for how aggressive they
(35:12):
were going to be. And I'm like, yo, so help
me God, as a Lebron James fan, like, if you guys,
if you guys don't use at least two of those
three available picks this summer to make this roster better,
that is elder abuse.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
That is malpractice.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Well, I think Rob might have been maybe trying to
send a message to the roster because sam Ami dropped
the report that said Bron and Ad wont another guy
there today, you know, So so yeah, I think that
might be you know, the route that Rob is going,
but I don't think that the team's on board with that,
especially not Broun.
Speaker 7 (35:44):
What I'm saying, like, is this all buttoned up and
ready to go? Like if Rob I mean, and again
I'm like, I'm not trying to start shit, but just
while I'm talking to like my smart friends that know basketball,
I'm like curious to get your guys thoughts, Like if
Rob is sort of signaling like, Okay, we're not going
to be aggressive, We're gonna and we're getting this first
time head coach with no experience that's like all about player.
We want him to develop players, and we're talking about
(36:05):
like Austin Reeves and et cetera. Max Christie, Like, how
would that? How would you feel if you're Lebron? And
that's like all of the messaging that's coming out of
the Lakers, and he is a free agent right now.
He has not committed yet, So I'm just like, I
think this is just a little bit spicier. It potentially
is a little bit spicier than we thought.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
That's my taking.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
It could be it could be apployed to try to
get Bron to bring that number down.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
So if you do want help, I mean, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Well, but but but listen, I'm not a guy should
take cuts for the team. But let's do the math here.
The Apron is the second aprons one hundred and ninety,
Broun and eighty are making eighty million something like that,
eighty four.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Fifty more than that. So last year, yeah, yeah, I
meanche one hundred.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
I've never been on rock linkas side over Lebron James.
But the math is a math. But you know, and
and he's he's being honest when he says we can't
trade for a third star. We're gonna have forty dollars
to pay the other for thirteen guys.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Also, the thing is, so that's not how you win, No,
not right, that's that's not how you not right now,
these things are too good, the depth they have. The
throw out three good players now three guys, and when
a championship be more, it doesn't work that way.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
And that's the problem with what the NBPA let the
league get away with with this CBA, isn't it. No
one had the warning for this and what it feels
like to me, And this is where I think the
Knick's getting a.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Michael Bridges is so big.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
It was like musical chairs for the role players who
win you championships and the music stopped. So it's like
KCP is in Denver, Drew Holliday is in Boston, is
going to New York.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Like those dudes aren't out there. It's like the nineties.
You can't pay for one of them. It's not set
up for you to do that anymore. So it is.
Speaker 4 (37:56):
I mean, I think this is gonna have really big
shock waves the NBA and an unfortunate thing for Rob Polinka,
which he knows, which is why I think he was
doing so much of that at the press conference.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Is Lakers fans don't give a fuck.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Yeah, Lakers fans aren't going to sensitively learn about the
new collective bargaining agreements impact on team's ability to say.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
I mean, I will say, don't because this shit's fucking
boring and like we only do it because it's our job,
so like please don't just like worry about it when
you see the roster.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Yeah, I think there will be some I don't know,
I think there will be some things to worry about. Okay,
My question, my last question you guys on JJ Reddick
before before we say goodbye, to it to clear. Is
JJ Reddick gonna win an NBA championship with the Los
Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
No, that's a hard question for me to answer because
I want one thing to be true, damn. But I
also talk about this for a living and know what
the league looks like right now.
Speaker 5 (38:49):
I'm going to say yes.
Speaker 7 (38:50):
I'm going to say yes just because I'd rather be
wrong about that than right about saying no.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
Do you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (38:58):
I do know what you mean.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
I'm just gonna copy paste your answer into my answer.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
I think no.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
I think he I think he can be a successful coach.
I do not think that he can lead this roster
to a championship as it's constructed now.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
It might change if he does.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
You're we're gonna have to give him some credit because
it's going to require Ruie to take a huge step.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
It's going to require you.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
I mean, it's gonna require some legitimate player development that
he impressive.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Bro, he would have press conference. You gotta get your
ass on the boards, Bro, what are you doing? Like
he said, he wants to see more rebound from that dude.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
So, I mean, if he does put a statue of
him in Nai, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Give me a statue, but just.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
The practice facility.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Yes, okay, yeah, statue of one of the AI joints.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Give him there the Philadelphia, treat.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Him, give him the bobblehead treatment. You feels all right?
Speaker 4 (40:00):
Well, Claire, thank you so much. It's always a pleasure
when you come on the show. We appreciate you giving
us an inside scoop and uh and everyone go follow
Claire if you're not already doing it.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
We appreciate you fropping on. Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (40:11):
You guys appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
Awesome, always awesome having claar on. And I want to
make it super clear as we transition into the other topic,
Claire did not like ask to be excluded from this conversation.
She's not like afraid to talk about it at all.
I think Jackson thinks, the producers of the show think.
And it's very obvious that the strength of the show
is Jenkins and Jones and the perspective that you guys
(40:41):
have on sports and that you have on topics of
race in sports, and the allegation that was made against
JJ Reddick today that he called a black woman an
N word, while he was in college at Duke. And
it's just our feeling as a producer's the show. It's
a producers feeling that we don't need me and Claire
chopping that up with y'all. That's that's you two have
(41:02):
the perspective on that. And so I turned the floor
over to you, John, and what you wanted to talk
about on the pod?
Speaker 2 (41:09):
No, No, go ahead, tell them. I just, I just
I also want to say, I ain't want to ruin
Claire's career is going really well.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
I'm gonna say what the fuck I feel how I feel,
you know what I mean, And I want her to
be a part.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Of where we go. But Tyler, go ahead, go ahead. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
So I really want to pick my words wisely here
because I feel like this discussion to be had here
is so much bigger than this JJ incident. And I
say that not to brush off the allegations against him,
right like, I want to have a discussion here that's
bigger than the allegations while still holding space for that
(41:45):
young lady who came for for sure, you know, Because
the thing is, the allegation against JJ wasn't a shocker
to me. It didn't surprise period, right, And I don't
want my words to be miscon shoot here like like, oh,
I'll take in the stance of oh, I always knew
JJ was one of those guys, because that's not what
I'm saying. The sad truth of this is whenever allegations
(42:07):
like these get levied against a white person, when there's
proof of a white person saying this word, I'm very
rarely surprised. And because another sad truth in the matter
here is that damn near all of us black folks
have a story of a white person calling us that word, right,
So this is not out of the this is not
in the.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Realm of disbelief.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
And if you're one of the lucky few black people
who have never experienced that, I sincerely hope you live
the rest of your days will ever having to experience that.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Right.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
But what really really disappointed me, and again this didn't
surprise me either, because we've seen this all too often,
was the reaction that that young lady received, Like, if
you go take a look at her mentions, it is
like a fucking cesspool, bro, It's disgusting in there. And
I'm sure the lady who tweeted that knew exactly what
(42:53):
was going to happen because she tweeted that shit and
she just kept tweeting like normal, Like I'm sure she
put that shit on mute and kept them.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Moving is the way to move on that hell hole?
Good for her mental health.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
But you know, like I said, the ship that I
saw in her and her mentions, that was the ship
that disappointed me the most because it's the same fucking
script that we see far way too often. You know, well,
why did you wait this long? Where's your proof? What
did you do to make them call you that?
Speaker 4 (43:22):
Right? Like?
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Just nasty fucking work, nasty work in those and her mentions, right,
And like I said, it's a script that we've seen
played off far too often whenever accusations and allegations, especially
against like prominent people, people in positions of power, come
out where you know that the people who are asking
these questions are not asking them from a place of
good faith. They are not asking these questions for clarification.
(43:45):
They are asking to discredit. Because if you go take
a look at the mentions and you see the people
going hard on her to try to disprove it, go
take a look at their timelines. Guarantee you'll see a
fucking bron header or Kobe header, or there a bunch
of retweets about Lakership, and you know, damn well, if
this was a self skolch, you got hit with this
ship their tune with they would have won aided here,
right And And like I said, they're not having these
(44:06):
these these discussions and good faith, you know they are.
They're leaning on their own biases in here, and they're
trying to, you know, frame it like they're being objective,
which is bullshit. And I want to say this from
a personal perspective. Never in my black ass life would
I ever defended any white person accused.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
Of this period. Motherfucking period. Never. I can.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
I know fandom blinds us, I get that, But buddy,
we got to try the line somewhere, right, Like, like,
I don't I'm not necessarily want to go down the
course of Okay, did JJ say or did JJ not?
But I'm just this, I'm not these I don't defend celebrities, period.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
I'm I'm not these motherfucker's legal team. I'm not these
motherfuckers pr And I'm but this allegation, this allegation, I
guess a white person, I guess a black woman, and you,
as a black person, are defending this blindly like crazy.
I cannot see it. Leave it up to JJ to
get out of this, you know, you know, leave it
up to him. He's He's the one who these allegations are. Again,
so so, like I said, I'm not surprised at the allegations.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
I'm not at all.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
And and and I want to be clear again that
me not being surprised as me saying that, yeah, I
knew JJ had it in it. I'm not saying that.
I'm saying that this is so commonplace. Every damn Like
I said, damn near every black person has an experience
of of of getting hit with that word BYuT whitebird.
And like I said, I just do the It didn't
surprise me, but I was still disappointed all the same
(45:35):
by the same bullshit reaction that.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
We see to this, that we see to so many
other incidents. I feel the exact same about that. Yeah,
the reaction was nasty.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
I went through the mitches, I scrolled like three times
and got the fuck out.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
I'm like, yeah, I'm cool on that. Don't need to
see that ship.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
And I did go through her page to see if
she was retweeting others she was tweeting on.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
The stealer out of some context, Heytory laugh, pop out?
Speaker 1 (45:57):
Good for her, for sure, she saw that ship. Good
for her, You know what I mean? How I feel like,
like I said, I was, I'm never surprised when I
see it. I as a do do I believe her?
Speaker 2 (46:09):
Yes? One thousand percent. I'm not gonna lie. Do I
know if it happened?
Speaker 8 (46:13):
No?
Speaker 2 (46:13):
But do I believe her? Yes? Bro believe I definitely
believe it that it happened.
Speaker 1 (46:18):
I when I want to see how he reacts to
this ship too, because I think that will decide, Like
if it's like this, fuck this nigga completely, I don't
want to hear some shit.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
I've never heard. I mean, to be honest, it probably is.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
I mean, it's just gonna be hard for me to
if based upon the context, it seemed like called her
a nigga. If you call her a nigga in a particular,
it seemed like it was you know, he's a six
four white man calling a black woman nigga comes comes
across a particular way to me, you know what I mean,
And that's how that's unforgivable, you know, what I mean,
(46:54):
person but I want to see how you responds to
this ship, just because I hope he doesn't give that
stale lass. I've never said that word before in my life.
Speaker 2 (47:03):
That's a lie you're first rowing over.
Speaker 1 (47:05):
I believe, I believe, but also also personally, I believe
anybody that says that, that's a lie.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
I think I think you know what I'm saying, and
you ain't got to corroborate that, Mike, You know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
You know you ain't gotta corroborate that. You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
I think I think I don't really trip off motherfucker
saying it. Motherfuckers was young, they was trying to say
that shit. How did you react when you realize that
word wasn't for you?
Speaker 2 (47:29):
You know what I'm saying. Were you like, oh shit,
I seid I'm tripping you know what I mean? Like, motherfucker.
You know.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
My sister said she she had you know, white friends
that was rapping it during songs and shit like that,
you know what I'm saying, And she was like, Yo,
don't do that shit, and they would respond like Yo,
my bad. You feel me like I feel like you
grow a particular way, go particular area. You know what
I'm saying. It might be cool in certain arrors, it
might not, you know what I'm saying. But when you
have a motherfucker say yo, chill out. You know what
I'm saying, I don't fuck with that shit? How do
you respond to that?
Speaker 2 (47:55):
You know? That's why I really trip off, but with
in this situation. So just saying it is.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
Not a big as big of a deal as it
you know, to me, is more like, how did you
respond when motherfucker's told.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
You this ain't for you? You feel me? Did somebody
have to beat your ass get you to stop saying
the shit? You feel me?
Speaker 1 (48:09):
But I think like directing it at a black woman,
I just it's gonna be hard for me to come
back from that.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (48:17):
You know what I mean, It's gonna be hard for
me to come back from that. I just don't see it.
I believe her a thousand percent, And in my shock.
Speaker 2 (48:23):
No, is it disappointing? Yeah? You know what I mean?
I was.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
I was, you know, we talked about this, you know
what I mean. It was a it was a it
was a tot turn. He had pulled off coming from
Duke being one of the most hated basketball players on
the planet and seeming like in certain situations that involved
you know, you know, some maybe difficult things to talk about,
particularly from a white man, he said the right things,
(48:49):
you know.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
What I mean that were I was like, Okay, he
might get it, you know, he grew up around a few,
but it's just it's just nasty work.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
We'll see what happens, like I said. But like like
you said, Tyler, I'm not here to defend J. J.
Redickin anyway. You know, I'm gonna let JJ talking. We'll
see what happens. I just that's how I feel about it.
Like I've known most niggas I know have been you know,
called that ship at some point by a white person.
And then you know, I just I, like you said,
(49:16):
from Virginia, that don't surprise me, my boy, not at all.
I grew up in the South, you know what I mean,
from Saint Louis. I know what time it is.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
Jackson dropped and the chat teams they were reporting, they
reach out to JJ's camp and they said, no, it
never happened.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
I mean, of course that's the raptor. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
like you want to. If there's no video evidence of this,
why would you attach that to your name? You know, right?
But yeah, and if.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
It's a lot if she if she come out and
say she was whatever, I'm fine with being wrong. I'm
not fine with hearing a black woman got called a
nigga and taking a white man's side, even if she will,
you know what I mean, I'm.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
Not fine with that. Yeah, that's just what it is.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
If that white man dig his way out the out
of that, I that ain't got shipped do with me.
But you know, one of the things that I hated
the most that I kept seeing is why wait till now?
Speaker 2 (50:04):
Why wait till now?
Speaker 3 (50:06):
Bro like like, but not for anybody decide why she
waited till whenever? Bro Let what I'm saying, Yeah, let's
let let's move on ansumption that this really happened. Why
do you owe someone who has wronged you in a
way that has scarred you forever any type of convenience?
Why do you owe them that? Why do you owe them?
Oh no, this is a great moment for you. Let
me let me be quiet. You don't owe them shit.
(50:26):
If someone has wronged you, you can speak on that
shit whenever the greatest moment in their life, a random
ass fucking Tuesday, bro, like that that whole why you
wait till now?
Speaker 2 (50:34):
Shit, that's bullshit. That's deflection.
Speaker 3 (50:36):
That is not a question asked from a place of
a good faith. Like I said, it's just a bunch
of bad faith arguers here. Bro, there's people who are
just trying to you know, diminish the shit in silence her.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
And also the thing is too bro like as she
from confident, you know what I mean, like probably grew
up Lakers fan. You feel me like this probably feels
a particular way to her. We talked about how people
care about the Lakers. We just spoke to that. You
feel me so like she probably like fucked this nigga
on you know, in our in our head, but like
now he's a coach of the Lakers, as somebody that
(51:06):
went to do you know what I'm saying that she
went to do experience this nigga, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (51:10):
Like, I just, bro, I just I could, I could.
It makes sense to me why she would do that.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
And I just feel like like if somebody's been wrong
and I don't know how that experience, how difficult experience
was for it might have been hard to talk about.
Maybe she didn't feel like people would hear her out,
you know what I mean. Not she's like, I don't
give a fuck, I'm gonna say what I say.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
You know she felt strongly enough about what's going on currently,
So I'm not I just can't. I can't imagine hearing
that being worried about that. Why now, shut the fuck up, man,
You know it's not your decision to make. Why when
when she would discuss about something that was difficult for
her to talk about or go through? So yeah, all.
Speaker 4 (51:49):
Right, Well, on that note, it is I think we're
at the end of the show.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
We obviously are.
Speaker 4 (51:55):
I'm sure gonna be getting more information about this and
have more to talk about coming days. We are recording
later in the week Friday morning. Is that was that
gonna be a live Jackson? We will be live on
Friday morning at what time?
Speaker 6 (52:14):

Speaker 1 (52:18):
And I wasn't a sinuating I heard Mike say, nigga, man,
I just want to say that dog liked I heard
the man.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
I'm just saying never never felt never, but anyway, Yeah, anyway,
all right, I appreciate it. I appreciate you guys. I
appreciate you.
Speaker 6 (52:36):
Being voices that just sort of cut through a lot of.
Speaker 2 (52:39):
The motion that you see on social media at just
straight to the target of of the treuths. I appreciate
you, you both for that. And then you have a podcast
where you can fucking do that. That's great. That's how
it's supposed to be. That was Jenkus and Jones.
