The legend on how you feel a man, there's a
good saturday for you. What's the what's what's the word
on your inn?
Speaker 6 (02:58):
It's a very It's always a good saturday.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Man.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Were you above the ground?
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Man? But look, well that's true.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
Where's play to go?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Birds?
Speaker 6 (03:04):
Because a lot of things.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
Exactly you came in straight. What I said to everyone
out there. Plexico is handling business with Elijah Burris, who
is a Golden domer and as everybody knows, he's having
a nice campaign early and role league player. So he
isn't on today, but go ahead, you guys can have
at it. The l A Lakers are playing some very
(03:31):
very uh some some.
Speaker 6 (03:33):
Nice championship championship level said.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Oh, he did he not say we wouldn't win one game?
I think he meant lose one game, That's what he meant. Now,
he said the Lakers wouldn't win one game of the
remained in six that they had. Did he not say that?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Something?
Speaker 1 (03:51):
You remember that? He said? Yes he did, Yes he did?
He lucky? He lucky?
Speaker 3 (03:57):
All right? So they beat the Rockets.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
They are we going to be.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
In journalist mode. Are we gonna be in journalist mode
or we're gonna be in fan mode today? Because if
we're gonna be in fan mode, I'm gonna stay it
right here in front of the whole world, in front
of America, the legends saying this. I want the Lakers
to play Golden State in the first round. I want
to see that. Let's go ahead and pack them up
early in five or six games, and let's send a
message to the rest of the Western Conference that we
(04:23):
have Luca and we have Lebron and you don't. It's
that simple right now.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Man, don't nobody want to see us? Nobody?
Speaker 3 (04:31):
And if they do, y'all doing the fan verse.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Bye bye.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
That's that's it. Bye bye anybody, Bye bye to anybody.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Bye bye. Cuse let me ask you. Let's get to
some now. Let's get the journalism had on.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Okay, good, good, Let's let's hear the journalists.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
We see the experts, Taylor Jenkins get fired and we like, wait,
what's going on? And then Michael Malone get fired, Like
what is going on in the NBA this year?
Speaker 6 (04:58):
The crazy thing is we're seeing these media reports come
out now and it's looking like they're making Russell Westbrook
the scapegoat once again.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Oh and I.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
Don't like that because Russ is a top seventy five
all time player. He averaged a triple double four times.
For now on, when anybody says anything negative about Westbrook,
just say that to them. He averaged a triple double
four times in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
That don't mean you had toxic though. There's a lot
of good looking at that got a lot of great
stats connected to them, but they toxic is heck.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
They're trying to put some of the blame on Westbrook
for what's going on in Denver, and I don't think
it's really him. I think Denver wanted to make a
move to go with David Adaman because I saw some
stuff about how the Denver Nuggets have seven players on
their roster that are represented by Excel Sports with Jeff Swartz.
That's one of the biggest sports agencies in the NBA,
(05:54):
in the world in sports. And it's some fishy there
because their coach, David Adaman is also represented by the
same agency. So it's a lot of stuff going on
behind closed doors with with the GM and the front
office with the Deva Nuggets. Now and we saw that.
So I think they're trying to spend it now on Westbrook,
That's what I'm saying. I don't like how they're trying
to spind on Westbrook when he's played pretty well for
(06:14):
that team, whether he was starting or coming off the bench.
He filled in his role pretty nice here this year.
And yeah, he had a couple of bad games the
last I say month of the season here and there,
where you know he always does that, that's Westbrook. But
I don't like how they're trying to put all the
blame on him. I think the locker room just got
tired of his of Mike Malone's voice, and sometimes you
can lose that locker room no matter what sport, NFL
(06:37):
or NBA, and I just think they were ready to move.
It is crazy to move on from your championship coach
who does led you to a chip like.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Two years crazy.
Speaker 6 (06:44):
Yeah, with a few games left in the regular season,
but the Nuggets came. They've been playing strong since the firing. Though.
They went in the Sacramento and got to win. They
beat the Grizzlies last night, so that four seed is
still up for grabs. The six seed is up for grabs,
we got the slippers and go to State tomorrow. That's
going to decide to succeeed. So it's a popcorn ready man,
(07:06):
because it's playoff time.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
Now, all right, But let's be realistic here, all right.
I know the Lakers are looking good. They're at three
right now. They I mean, that's not bad in the West.
I think the Thunder are problem. I've been saying that
we don't talk enough about them, and they are number one.
By the way, the Rockets is a team that looks
(07:29):
to be coming into their own and could be a problem.
I feel like they kind of both teams have you know,
come up short when it when it comes down to
the playoffs, no matter how talented their rosters have been.
But looking at it from a real, like critical eye,
are we to look at this top like, okay, Thunder, Rockets,
(07:53):
what Lakers, Nuggets, Clippers and Warriors and and I mean
do we do we throw in Timber and Grizzlies. Don't
you know.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Where where is the cutoff?
Speaker 4 (08:04):
What teams are a real factor, a real a real uh.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I guess a.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Strong pick to make a run out of the West,
because y'all could throw the Lakers in there. I get
that they are playing well and they do have Luca
and Lebron, but let's be realistic here, who do you
guys see coming out of the West.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
Well, I think everybody had weaknesses, Like everybody in the
West had weaknesses. Like, okay, see, they don't necessarily have
the experience. Denver doesn't have the same bench that they
had when they won. The Lakers don't have any center
outside of Jackson Hayes. Like every team pretty much has
a weakness. So it's gonna come down to these matchups.
So this last game of the season tomorrow for everybody's
gonna determine that seeding. So you're gonna see guys fighting
(08:47):
for that for those seeds tomorrow because it's all about
the matchups. And I feel like it's gonna come down
to that. I ready to do. It's gonna come down.
It's just like box and stounds make fights, we all know.
So it's gonna come down to just flat out matchups
and if teams can really match up with each other,
it's gonna come down to that. I feel like, especially
with the Lakers, because they don't have a center. They
just don't have a center right now. And I feel
(09:09):
like that that might be eventually their Achilles Hill. But
you have Lebron and Lucas, so you always have the
heavyweight punchers chance when you have two guys like that
who can make shots in the clutch in big time moments.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Is Chet sturdy enough to be the big man that
takes Okac.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
To that next level?
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Though?
Speaker 3 (09:27):
I don't know. I think it's a little flimm.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
I'll answer that, no, hey cuffs five teams that are
bonified championship contenders when these playoffs start next week. Five teams,
no total, just in the NBA, in the NBA East
and West combined five teams.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
I mean, you obviously have the defending champions, the Boston Celtics,
so I feel like they're the favorite going in. But
I will say we got to keep a close eye
on Jalen Brown's in these situation. He just got some
like some type of procedure injections on his knee. He's
not one hundred percent that kind of words me with Boston.
But Boston's gonna be in the mix because they know
(10:11):
how to win now and they're deep. The Calves, yep,
I still don't fully trust the Calves until I see
Darius Galland and Mobley really really show up in every
game and be consistent. That's what I'm looking for with
Darius Garland. If he could be consistent throughout a series,
the Calves can make the conference finals and they could
potentially upset the Celtics. So that's too. It's a two
(10:32):
team race. Two team races in the East in the West.
Okac has to be in the conversation, it's gonna come
down to Jalen Williams with them, like he has to
be that second star beside SGA. If Jalen Williams doesn't
show up, okay, se can get upset in the first
round the Lakers. The Lakers show the last week they
can beat them. You can go in Okay, see you
(10:52):
can beat them. The Lakers push them around.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
The Lakers. We win both games. Throw Luke out.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
You saw you saw the referee, JT or you know
you saw me Jake. Luca killed the momentum that game,
So yeah, you're right, j Like they went in there
two games in a row to control the pace. And
that's what's gonna happen with Luca and Lebron and these playoffs.
You have two guys who can absolutely control the pace
of games and control the tempo of games, and I
don't think nobody else in the West has two guys
that can do that. Like Anthony Edwards, he played at
(11:22):
his pace. He's sometimes he radic, he chooses a lot
of threes. So I don't consider Minnesota as much as
a threat this year because I don't trust Julius Randall.
But Denver, I don't think they're championship contender anymore because
Jamal Murray, he just came back the last game off
of his injury. His first game back, he's not the
same Jamal Murray that we've seen in the past. So
it's gonna be tough to ask Michael Porter and them
(11:43):
guys to really be the guys they were two years ago.
I don't think Denver is that team. So the West
is looking like it's up for brass for the Lakers,
and I feel like, oh god, we're gonna we should
be able to get at least a Conference finals appearance.
And I will say that Houston Rockets, I love them.
I feel like I'm I'm into should be Defensive Player
of the Year. I love the job u Doka's done
(12:04):
with that team. They match his energy, Like you see
how you Dooka's.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Getting dog bro like you want to suit up and play.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
Yeah, And I love that about you, Doka, because people
forget he came from the G league D League route.
He was undrafted himself, so he has that edge as
a coach and his players buying in. But I just
feel like the Rockets don't have that veteran star player
in those tough crunch time moments in games. Fred van
Vliek was that guy with the Raptors. He's made big
playoff shots, but I feel like you need a little
(12:33):
more than that. So that's the only thing that concerns
me about the Rockets. But it's the wild wild West,
and we're gonna see tomorrow, man. We're gonna see how
these seatings the seeds play out. And I want to
see who the Clippers play in the first round because
the Clippers. Everybody hyping up the Clippers. I want to
see who they're gonna play in the first round. That
Denver and Clippers series could be a great first round matchup.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Okay, well that was some good Uh that was some
good work right there. I mean, at least y'all brought
some some unbiased always to No, y'all are not watch ball. Yeah,
y'all are not always unbiased and and and the oldest,
longest running thing that people do in sports talk and
(13:16):
and in sports industry is say, y'all watch it. We
watch it, like, okay, we get it. We get your
watch it. That's why you're the expert. But you're biased,
y'all both biased to the Lakers. And I just thought
i'd throw that in there, because, I mean, give a
shout out.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Fifty wins as the first year coach.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Give him, give him, I mean he knows how to
stay out of Lebron's way.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Oh my god, this dude, Hey, we you know what
we need to shout out? Cuffs too, though. I was
watching TV and they were like, yeah, you know, they
moving their feet, they sliding the puppies. You were the
first one I ever heard say slide the puppies. They
using your lingo cuffs.
Speaker 6 (13:58):
Ye, man, just this was happening. Everybody see what's happening now? Man,
So all I can say is like trans Center set
trends that everybody else follow those trends.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Bro.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
It's actually funny at this point, but everybody know who
the originator is. Shout out to shout out to be
a rather three by the way, because he used to
say something about the puppies, getting the puppies organized. But
you know, I put my spin.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
On it now moving them, you move them.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
You talk about moving them, and that's what they was
doing on the Four Letter Word network. Uh, talking about
move the puppies. So in fact, we're going to move
our puppies to a break. Uh.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
That is Cuffs the legend. You got one more on you?
You got one more on you?
Speaker 4 (14:39):
All right, Well we'll knock down another one with with
Cuffs and TJ. The Lakers Sixth Man of the Year
award will go to one of those two. If not
six man will create the seventh man as well from
some dude show. Uh, this is up on game? Yeah
this Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Will be right back.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Welcome back, What's up on Game? It's Tyreck dot com
studio'st J Huschman Zada. I'm LeVar Arrington. We got the
legendary Cuffs on the show. Or you can call them cuffs.
The legend from some dude show Plexico is off today.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
We'll be back. Before we continue the.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Conversations that have been going on. Let's first get an
update from the legend himself.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
He is also a.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Legend in his own right, in fact, his own classification
of legend, because Isaac Lohankron is the man.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Let's get an update from Ilo. What you got my guy?
Or maybe he doesn't want to do it. Maybe that
was just too all right, Maybe that was just too
good of an intro for Isaac Loehencron and we just
need you.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Know, he can't speak because I got super cups.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
I gave him a lot of lot of props.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
There it is, Oh, there you go he r he
rady now yeah, yeah, what you got?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
I love.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Still no sign of Nico or I low at the
Tennessee Spring game. Just taking a double check these days.
But he is he is, indeed not there is. That's
our top treading story. Multiple outlets reporting that the Volunteers
moving on from their starting quarterback last year, Nico im
(16:33):
a Lava after reportedly held out from practice on Friday
as part of an nil contract dispute.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
Yeah who Sports reported.
Speaker 7 (16:40):
Elava has already submitted paperwork to edit the transfer portal. Now,
last season helped Tennessee to a college football playoff appearance.
Speaker 8 (16:49):
The volunteers wound up with a ten and three record.
Speaker 7 (16:51):
And again today just happens to be Tennessee's spring game
at Neeland Stadium. The fans file again right now. They're
going to kick off that event about thirty six minutes
from now.
Speaker 8 (17:02):
At the top of the hour.
Speaker 7 (17:03):
Meanwhile, what we thought was gonna be our top story today,
the Master is after two rounds, Justin Rose has a
one shot lead at eight under par overall, one shot
ahead of Bryson De'shamba. They will tee off at two
forty Eastern time this afternoon. Rory McElroy and Corey Cotters
two shots back at six under par overall.
Speaker 8 (17:20):
They will tee off round three.
Speaker 7 (17:22):
At two point thirty eastern On the course right now,
the best day being had so far by Zach Johnson.
He has four under through twelve holes today, says Zach
Johnson is now at two under par overall.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
He has six shots off the lead.
Speaker 7 (17:36):
And today's Major League Baseball action we'll get underway after
the top of the hour with a pair of games,
the Minnesota Twins hosting the Detroit Tigers about forty five
minutes from now, and about fifty minutes from now the
Saint Louis Cardinals playing host to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Guys, I appreciate it, appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
I'll appreciate you, uh wellchus before we get back into
talking like you know, NBA or wherever you guys want
to go with with what we're discussing is some spirited
stuff on on the Lakers, of course. What's your take
on the quarterback from from Tennessee, Nico?
Speaker 3 (18:14):
How you say it again? TJ? Give it to me
one more time, man, just call Nico. Everybody knows them
as Nico.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Feel bad not putting his whole name out there, but
and I don't want to bang him up, but their
star quarterback is now going into the transfer portal. If
I'm if I'm not mistaken, he still has to stay there.
No matter where he decides to transfer to, he still
has to finish out the the the academic year at Tennessee,
(18:43):
I believe. And if that's the case, I wonder how
that's going to go as as well. But have you
seen that take place in the basketball arena. Is there
anyone that comes to mind that that was such a big,
big player, big name player for the team and went
(19:04):
to a different school based off of the NIL situation?
Or is that commonplace in basketball? Not as much as
in football.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Maybe I haven't seen it happen in college basketball yet,
but you could best believe it's about to happen, because
is this like the equivalent of an NFL holdout? Right,
but in college football?
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Right?
Speaker 4 (19:23):
I mean it's he held out of practices and isn't
doing the final you know, spring spring game that they
do today.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
But I mean it's it's like holdout slash.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Free agent, like he held didn't get what he think
the times becoming a free agent.
Speaker 6 (19:43):
I just think the timing of it is weird because
you got the fan base. I've seen the videos where
one fan didn't even know he wasn't he was holding out,
So I think the timing of it is crazy. But
I have heard that his dad is playing a you
know a lot of helicopter parents in this NIL game,
and we see all the way down to the AAU.
That's why all this stuff is funny to me, being
(20:03):
somebody that comes from AAU basketball culture. We at AAU
basketball coaches and program directors, we've been dealing with the
transfer portal type stuff before it was even a thing
in college basketball or college football. It's just funny now
because money is involved. It's so much money being exchanged,
and I know a lot of kids that's being recruited
(20:24):
for college football, and it's a lot of nasty things
that happen on both sides. It's not like. The thing
I don't like is how the like the fan base
turns on the kids. They're gonna start to turn on
these kids and start to call the kids because I'm
sure the quarterback for Tennessee he's being called all kinds
of names right now. But it's like they're not understanding
that it really is a like a shady, cutthroat business
(20:47):
now with this nil transfer portal stuff. The combination up
two and you just I feel like the old saying
where I got to do what's best for me and
my family. We're seeing that at an all time high.
Now got to do it best for you now.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I agree one percent with what you just said. These
coaches have made generational wealth on the backs of these
kids for decades and now that the player can make
the money. It's like, wait, what are you doing? Yeah,
like come on, And then you get the coach that's say, yeah,
(21:20):
well we got to fix the system. Wait, why you
want saying that twenty five years ago? Why you want
saying that twenty five years ago? The system wasn't broken
in Oh no, it wasn't broken because you was taking
all the money. Gotcha? Gotcha? All right? Cuffs, NBA one
game left, This is gonna be tough. Who's the MVP.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
The MVP is crazy this year because I saw it
this morning. I saw the graphic on TV and it
really hit me. They Yokic really averaged a triple double
playing the center position for entire season. He averaged a
triple double. Westbrook did it four times. Oscar Robinson. We've
only had three basketball players in the history of life
(22:02):
to do this. And he's a center playing the five position.
And then you have SGA, you have his stats. He's
having one of the best offensive seasons. This peer scoring efficiency.
This team is number one by Lancelot in the West
for two years in a row. Now they snubbed him
last year for the MVP. That's why I feel like
man to make it all right. I wouldn't be mad
(22:25):
if we saw a co MVP. I don't remember the
I don't I can't recall we've ever seen that happen before.
As far as the MVP award, I know it happened
with the Rookie of the Year several years ago. I
think Mike Miller and Jason Kidd might have shared the
Rookie of the Year if I'm not mistaken. But the MVP,
imagin if you wake up and see the headlines where
we have a co MVP, that could also start a
(22:45):
new president because it is kind of hard who would
you vote for right now?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
TJ.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
I'm giving it to SGA because you're the best player
on the best team, and like best team by a while,
a long way, and so to me, I feel like
the gold posts continue to be moved when you want
to give the NBP to somebody else because of the
longest it was the best player on the best team,
(23:13):
and then it was, oh, well, they're a top six seed.
I know when Westbrook wanted the Thunderworld to suc seed,
but he was just a triple double machine at that point.
And so for me, I'm going to SGA, really because
SGA should have won it last year if we're being honest, Yeah,
he got stubbed, and so you can't you cannot do
(23:34):
the guy. You can't do this man like this two
years in a row. And it's crazy because my son
is swear up and down its Yolkich and I'm like, no,
it ain't, it's Sgam.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
I think there's a good, a good argument to be
made for for both players to be honest. And again
we brought up Yannis, you know last week on the
show last weekend on the show. I mean, I think
there are some other guys out there in the East
that that could be in the conversation as well.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Now, when it comes down to it, the feat.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
That Jokic has has has has accomplished, I think it
goes without saying he's the most valuable to his team
and he's the most valuable in terms of production. If
I'm looking at it from what they've done and where
they're at in terms of success and ranking and rating,
I'm with TJ on it. It goes SGA because this
(24:31):
is the top team right now.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
They're hot. He's leading the way. He doesn't show any
signs of slowing down.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
I watch enough basketball to see what some of these
top guys are doing in the games that that are
are taking place, and he continues to deliver. Like one
thing I say about him, we continue to say it
could be their youth that plays a role in why
they're not able to win it all this year. And
that's why I think it's interesting that we didn't bring
(24:58):
up the Golden State warri in the last segment talking
about possible teams that could could come out of the
West and represent in an NBA Final.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
But with that being.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Said, I also said on last week's show that they
can't continue to use it's a youth movement as as
an example or as an excuse or as a reason
as to why they're not going and taking that next step.
So while you can't choose the MVP based off of
what happens in the postseason, I still think that the
(25:30):
fact that he's played as well SGA has played as
well as he has at the level he's played at
for the second straight year.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
And his team is the top team in.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
The West, which most probably would consider that to be
the the you know, the conference that's going to come.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Out with the championship.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
I think it has to go to SGA, but I
wouldn't be surprised if Jokic got it for the stat
line that he's been boasting this entire season.
Speaker 6 (26:00):
I don't think. I don't think they're gonna rob SGA
two years in a row. That would look real bad
on the voters because last year, everybody really felt like
when we saw the headline come across last year, it
was kind of a shock, like, oh my god, Shay
Gilbis Alexander didn't win it. So we were to see
that same headline this year, I think basketball fans would
lose even more respect for these voters. A lot of
(26:20):
these couch potato voters, they don't really watch basketball, so
like we would lose even more respect for them. But
an even better question for y'all is which duo going
into these NBA playoffs, which duo do you trust the most?
Because we see the pantheon a champions it takes two
most time. You're gonna need two stars to get you
(26:41):
over the hump. Your role player is gonna have to
be locked in. Everybody's gonna have to have their role
defined and carved out. But the two stars are going
to take you to the mountain top, which two duos,
Which duo do you trust the most going into the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Go ahead, LeVar, because you know who I trust, you
know who I trust.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
I know you're gonna go with Lebron and and and
uh is them?
Speaker 1 (27:05):
And is Jali Brown and Jason Tatum that you can
really feel confident in.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
That's a given one too.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
But do you do you do like audition by audition
on best duo? Like I just brought up Golden State.
I just I'm just wondering, is it is it Steph
Curry and Company? Is it Steph Curry and And the addition,
who's this company? Is it Jimmy Butler? I mean, I
(27:35):
think he's one. What he's to to B two A?
And then and then you got who's my Who's who's
the enforcer? Why am I blanking on his name right now?
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Draymond?
Speaker 4 (27:46):
I think those two, I think that addition by addition,
those two put together with Steph Curry is going to
be a problem in the n B A in the
NBA playoffs. I think it gets it takes that pressure
off of Jimmy Butler to have to be the main dude,
and you had and he doesn't have to be the
enforcer like he was for Miami, which people may not
(28:08):
give him enough credit for him being that that hard
knows like they say air quotes the Miami Hurricane or
Miami heat way, he doesn't have to be that guy
because of Draymond. He can just focus in on just
being a player, which he is a very fine player
when he's just focused in on playing the game. So
to me, I think that that's the most dangerous duo
(28:30):
by addition. In addition, it's three of them, but I
think them two put together equal one of the superstars
that we would say in a Tatum or a Brown
or you know, you know what we got with murder.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
The Clippers Tomorrow they in trouble, they better beat the Clippers.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
What I'm saying is is I don't I don't think
it's a foregone conclusion that if they end up playing
the Lakers that they go home. In fact, I think
that's a dangerous that's a dangerous road for both of them.
I don't think that's an easy one, uh, an easy
one to call for either one of those teams that
they end up meeting in the first round.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
That's that's you know, you know what, you know why
I have the Lakers beating the Warriors that they play
them in the first round because the Lakers have the
best third option.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
In the world right now, and Brownie James.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
Look Calabassies Larry Bird Calabassus Larry Bird is what I
call them. Austin Reeves has really arrived, and I don't
think people really gonna understand what's going to happen this playoffs.
Austin Reeds is capable of getting you thirty thirty to
thirty five every game, every game, even when Lebron and
Luca are cooking. And that's a dangerous cast when you
(29:39):
have to put your third or fourth or fifth defender
on Austin Reeds. Now, I can't wait for the playoffs
to start.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
The Warriors got a they got to ski on their team,
and they got to comingo on their team. And I'm
just saying I think that they're well, we just ain't
gonna just go where, just gonna go your p and
your euro style in in Los Angeles. That Golden State's
got their euro style as well. I'm just saying, bro,
(30:09):
it's a it's a team that is way like if
we're looking at them, like when they had Harrison and
those guys. They were to me a super balanced team
and superstars coming from every which direction. But when you
look at Golden State now, I think adding Butler made
them a more balanced team.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
And it took a.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
Pressure off of off of Steph Curry that he had
when when he lost his splash brother going somewhere else,
And I think it's a different it's a different type
of assistance. I don't think Jimmy Butler is the same
type of player as as Clay. So to me, looking
at what they bring to the table, it gives them
a little bit more grit. It gives them a little
(30:54):
bit more more maybe less finesse, more more banged, more fight.
And I think it's worked. I mean, you look at
what their record has been. It's worked. They just handled Portland.
I think this is a team that is on the up.
And now I'm looking at one team, but I'm just
saying out of the West, I think they're the most
(31:14):
dangerous team that's not really being talked about.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
I get Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
I get that they're talented, they got possibly the MVP
on the team. I think the Nuggets you got to
knock them off because I just maybe they're playing better now,
but we've always seen guys under interiom.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Situations play better immediately.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
But when it comes down to it, when they get
up against a real challenge, that's when we're gonna find
out if they're really in a good place or not.
And I just don't I don't subscribe to that. So
I don't know, man. I just think I got a
feeling that Golden State is going to make a run.
And if that is true, if they end up having
the Lakers in the first round, and that's one that
we're gonna have to look at and say, all right,
(31:56):
was this.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
The one Was this the one game?
Speaker 4 (31:58):
Was this the series that decided what was going to
take place in the NBA playoffs this year?
Speaker 3 (32:04):
That's just my take on.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
It, though.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
I think it'd be Lakers than six Lakers over the
Words in six games because Luca and Lebron are gonna
put Curry in every type of mismatch in the pick
and roll, and they're gonna get downhill, they're gonna get
into pain, they're gonna feast because they don't have any
rim protection in Golden State. Kevon Looney is an older
big man. Now, they don't have anybody to protect the rim.
(32:26):
Draymond can't move the puppies like he used to, So
I feel like Lebron is gonna have a lot more confidence,
Luca gonna have confidence. I think. I hope that's the
actual matchup. Like I said earlier, I hope that is
the first round matchup. But we will see because, like
TJ said, the Clippers and Warriors tomorrow will decide that seed.
So I want to see what Kawhi Leonard and James
(32:48):
Hardigill do. We didn't say anything about them.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
I don't trust trust that duo. I don't trust them.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
I do if they're healthy, like trust if that if
the Clippers are healthy, I'm not gonna lie. They they
present problems for everybody. That's what they said, and we
gave him away for a box of Cracker Jacks.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
Man, Hey, dump hit the dump perfect. Listen. All I'm
gonna say is I don't trust them.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
We say that about the Lakers every single year, every year,
and they do the same thing every single year. They
just gonna have to prove it to me. I'm not
saying that they can't do it. I'm just saying they're
gonna have to prove it.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Cuffs. We'll pe appreciate you coming on. Man. Hey listen,
that's Cuff to Legends.
Speaker 4 (33:34):

Speaker 4 (34:42):
To preset Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart app and
it will always pop up on the top of your screen.
So make sure you check that out before we get
up out of here. At TJ we got to go
back to football really quickly, and the Browns bring in
Joe Flacco. So now they got Joe Flacco, and they
got Kenny Pickett, and we hear news out of New
(35:05):
Orleans that car has an injury that well will may
keep him out for much of this season. Does this
have any impact on the quarterbacks being selected?
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Now?
Speaker 4 (35:21):
I said New Orleans eight, and that could be Shador Sanders,
but it could be hard knowing that you have Derek
Carr still. But now with that being an issue and
the Cleveland Browns taking Joe Flacco, that says to me
that it's either Travis Hunter that they're settling in on
(35:44):
or Abdual Carter, which I feel like it's leaning towards
Travis Hunter to go number two at this point. What's
your take on it before we get up out of here.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
I mean, it's something like sign of Flacco. Does it
eliminate them from drafting a quarterback? It's not like flack
Ow's making huge money. I believe it's three million base
where he could probably earn another three in acentive. So
that's not the type of contract where it would prohibit
you from drafting a quarterback. I just look at it
(36:15):
as the teams at the top of the draft, they
don't feel like the quarterbacks are worthy of being drafted
where they're drafting at. And for sure there it might
not be a bad thing to drop. The further you drop,
the more stable the organization you would get drafted too.
And so it may not be a bad thing if
(36:36):
he was to drop, because you could possibly get into
a more stable environment and more stable situation. Whether that
would be the Raiders, the Saints, who knows, Because if
he gets out of the top ten, a lot of
the teams picking outside of the top ten do they
(36:57):
need a quarterback? And or will teams picked higher now
trade back in to draft him at a lower spot.
So there's just so much that can take place. But
look at it this way, to all these guys man
that maybe, oh, I'm supposed to be a top whatever pick,
it's a blessing to be drafted. It does not matter
where you go, it's what you do when you get there,
(37:22):
and so to me, that is the message that every player.
You can be the last pick of the draft, what
you do when you get there is going to determine
your fate moving forward. You can be the first pick
of the draft if you ask, you're gonna be out
the league a SAP and so be happy that you
even had this opportunity. But ultimately, what you do when
(37:44):
you get there is going to determine your fate.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
You know.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
I look at the moves that are taking place, and
it's just kind of like looking at looking at it.
It definitely does work to anyone who slides, it works
to their advanceage. Uh, getting a rookie contract on a
team that has a winning record, where you graded out
high enough to be at the top of the draft,
and you don't go at the top of the draft,
(38:11):
you know. I think there's been a lot of mixed
opinions about the qbs in this class. I think that
there has been interesting conversations surrounding the other prospects. I mean,
Abdual Carter didn't do anything this this uh this cycle, Like, yeah,
he didn't.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
He didn't physical would get himself drafted higher. No, So
why would you do anything.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
So there you go, like there's so many different conversations
that are are taking place, but one thing's for certain.
One things for certain. When when you're at this time
of the year, it's just interesting to see all the
posturing and the gamesmanship that's that's taking place in terms
(38:54):
of where guys are going to end up. Now, I
think it's a for sure shot now that that New
Orleans has to if they weren't thinking about taking a quarterback,
I think for sure they now have to really think
about are they going to invest in the quarterback? Does
that enteil them trying to move up? You know, because
there could be the idea there's still this weird feeling
(39:19):
that maybe it is an Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter
at three. It could be Shador zero percent chance.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
I don't know, man, I talked to somebody that told
me zero percent chance to giants Strappam zero percent chance.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
I think it's abdual Carter, but I don't know. I
mean that would be to me, that would be the
first like my mouth is open, like whoa pause, but
you know what I'm saying, Like that'd be a woe
pick for me if it were to take place. Now,
after you get you know, beyond that, I think it
gets a little bit more, It gets a little diceier
because there's just not a need for a quarterback all
(39:57):
the way up until eight. So well then then again
there's the there's the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
But is that is that?
Speaker 3 (40:05):
Is that a man?
Speaker 1 (40:06):
You know, Pete Carroll going defense? Pete Carroll going defense
or running back, run the ball and play defense. That's
Pete Carroll.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
It'd be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
Next time you hear us doing this show, the draft
will have taken place, and we most likely will be
here talking about it. So I hope you enjoyed the show.
You got Jonas Knox coming up next. This is up
on Game T. J. Hichman's outa. I'm LeVar Harrington. This
is Fox Sports Radio.
