as they mentioned that, folks mentioned, we don't have a
ton of time within this two hour time slot to
get to everything, and we do this once a week,
so hey, hen han. But with that being said, we
didn't get to Joel Clatt. I teach Joel Clatt. It's

a conversation that I am intrigued to hear. Tea and
pletch your take on this particular situation. When I heard it,
I had opinions, but I'm going to listen to y'all's
first before I give mine. Here's what Joel Klatt had
to say on Shador Sanders having his jersey retired at

the University of Colorado.

I don't know of anybody anywhere that has been a
more staunch supporter of what has gone on at Colorado.
You know, I am and still am by the way
what they have done and what coach Prime has brought,
what Shadur brought to the table and turned around this
program is really unprecedented because they were awful two years ago.
They were one and eleven, and they lost those eleven

games by basically an average of thirty points. And then
they just won nine games and finished in the top
twenty five and had a Heisman Trophy winner and they're
going to have a.

So like, I get it. I think that the argument
from their side, and by the way, this did not
come from Dion. This has to get signed off by
the athletic director. I talked to him today, told him
that I didn't agree with this, and he said, listen,
Shaudor Sanders and Travis Hunter changed the trajectory of our program.
They saved our program in a lot of ways. And
I understand that from their perspective, and there's certainly a

lot of national awards. I just think that it cheapens
what you're actually trying to do. You're trying to honor
Shudor Sanders, you're trying to honor Travis Hunter. And the
only one that all of us are going to be like, well, yeah,
I get that is Travis because he won the Heisman
with Shadoor. From the outside looking in, it's way too
easy to say would this happen if he had a
different name on his back, And I think that's what

then becomes a disservice to Shudor. You're trying to honor him,
and yet it's just going to bring more questions. And then,
by the way, you know, nine days before the draft,
when the narrative surrounding him and the questions from some
of the front offices in the NFL are going to
be about does he think he's bigger than our organization?
Does his family think that he's bigger than our organization?
So to throw this you know, little nuclear bomb nine

days before the draft, it perpetuates that narrative, which also
does him a disservice. Don't agree with it, all.

Right, So let's let's uh, let's let's unpack this fellas
he had some interesting things to say, uh before before
I let y'all go with what y'all gonna say. We
do know that man by the name of and this
name will ring with you, probably a little bit more
plex than than tj U, A guy by the name

of Dion Figures, which you know I watched. Yeah, I
know you remember him, but but plex, you you, you
have a different vantage point of dist And and he's
a Steeler, he's he's you know, obviously he's he's a Steeler.
So and he was a he was a really really

good football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers as well. He
wore number two at uh AT at Colorado and well,
Deon Figures actually just went into the National Football Foundation
College Football Hall of Fame. Was a consensus All American,
was a Big Eight Defensive Player of the Year, was

a Big Eight Defensive Newcomer of the Year. So he
did it as a baby. When he first came in.
It was the first, first team, second team, you name it.
He's done some pretty phenomenal things at the college level
and his number now is immortalized. But it's not because
of him. It's because of Shador Sanders. I don't think

anyone will have any type of again debate as it
applies to Travis Hunter. But here we go, boom, y'all
take it. The debate starts with was this the right decision?
And does this impact Shador sanders legacy moving forward? Does
it impact his draft status in the initial right now?

And the president does it? How much does this decision
impact Shador Sanders if at all any.

Cordell Stewart, Michael Westbrooko, Charles Johnson. They had so many

good players. And the problem is this, this is the problem.
Those guys had to wait years, if not decades, for
their jerseys to be retired. Rashaan Salon won a Heid Trophy.
He just recently had his jersey retired.

And he just recently got into the College Hall. He's
in my class. Rashon Salam's in my class, the twenty two's.

And so that to me is why Joe Klatt is
saying what he's saying, like, we waited decades to honor
some of our greatest players, but we're gonna do this

But okay, but is he relevant? Was he more? Was
Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter more relevant? And what it
is that they they were able to do with his
Colorado team because just because we do things in a
certain way.

you are a Heisman Trophy winner at any school, your
number should be retired. So Travis Hunter, I don't have
any problem with his number going up in the rafters

for the rest of his life, basically saying that this
man was one of the greatest college football players to
ever live. I don't have a problem with that. But
what I am going to say is that I don't
believe if Shador plays at the Florida Gators, or he
plays at Florida Stable, he plays at the University of
Virginia or North Carolina and goes out and has this

same kind of career that he had at Colorado, that
he's a he gets his with number, his jersey retired
in two years. But you're saying the fact that he
bought the Colorado program out of obscurity, as LeVar said,
and he made him relevant again, which he is. That's

the main reason why his number is being retired. Can't
be And man, listen, I came up in the early
two thousands. I came up in the early nineties, man,
And I remember I remember Eric being and me. I
remember Darien Hagen and Michael Westbrook and Cordell Steward and
washing these young men play football. Colorado was an absolute

monster back in the nineties. And to say that that
that that tradeor Sanders had a more decorated, more decorated
than what Eric Ban and me was able to accomplisate
Colorado and Daria Hagen. That's athletic director.

is my time to shine. I'm gonna build this thing up.

or people want to rain down on me and say
we shouldn't have did it and this wasn't the right
way to do it. There's other players that are better,

and this, that and the other. We're gonna make that money.
We were gonna make that money. We're gonna make ourselves
more attractive to these these uh, these players out here.
We're gonna keep going after the guys that are in
the portal. We're gonna get the best recruits out of
high school and we're going to make us around and
we're going to compete for a national title. We're going

to make it to the National College Football Playoff. Like,
there's so many reasons why this is the best decision
that you made. Like these new kids, these new school kids,
they don't remember none of the names we just said.
They don't remember. There's very few that you will run
up on that know.

If they're our kids, they probably know older, older players
because we forced them to know it. If they're not
our kids, they know who's on MADT right now. They
know who's on NCAA College Football right now. I had

said who do you bench, who do you start, and
who's who's coming off of the bench. And it was

Michael Parsons, it was LaVar Arrington, and it was Abdual Carter.
And I got cut almost on every last one.
