Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you remember what our first conversation was before we
teet off, what it was about dating? You happen to
be amongst all the women in the group. You are
the only straight woman.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
I was the only straight woman. I'm surround them, all
these beautiful lesbians, and I was like.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
And you were telling us about your issues, and we
were like, and that's why we don't date men. And
you're like, I don't. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
I can't cross over. I was because people have been
trying to get me to crossover. But I love men. Yeah,
I don't care how many men break my hearts. I'm sorry,
I'm not coming over.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
All right, that's okay. I'm not going to convince you.
I was just reminding you of that conversation. I was
giving you some selling points, because you know, they like,
ain't nobody gonna treat you better than a woman who
loves you, like the way they show up for you.
They already know your next step, they understand your cycle.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
But I don't want to deal with another period. All right,
Eight periods in one house is chaotic.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
I can confirm it's chaotic.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Exactly at the way y'all sync up, No, ma'am.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah, we try to speak to one another. Yeah, you
know what You're right, you know. Pick and choose your battles, right,
pick and choose your battles, pil. I am so excited
for today's guest. She's a multi talented actress, writer, and
(01:20):
comedian with some of the funniest takes on dating, relationships,
and friendships that I have ever seen. With millions of fans,
she's absolutely crushing it both online and on stage, now
a regular at the Laugh Factory and touring across the
US alongside comedy heavyweights like Joe Coy. But here's a twist.
She's also making waves in the golf world. She proudly
calls herself a professional amateur golfer and has traveled the
(01:43):
globe with brands like Adida's Golf and Callaway. Whether she's
serving up laughs or slinging a club, one thing is
for sure, this girl stays busy. Now you've probably seen
her hilarious skits, but today you're going to get to
know even more about her story. So get ready to laugh,
fall in love with their energy, and walk away as
an even bigger fan. Lulu, Welcome to the part the party.
(02:06):
So excited to have you I mean, I was thinking
about this on the way here. Every time we've hung out,
I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as I
do with you with anyone else, especially in like these
golf events. You know what I mean, pretty bored, they're
pretty stiff, and you're just like, ha ha ha fake
fake laughing. I know, I'm real laughing with you. So
(02:27):
I'm so excited for my listeners to get to know you.
Come on over, guys, that's right. So before we get started,
we like to begin with a little bit of four play.
Clearly we love on the puns you were. Maybe we're
doing too much, but okay, so we have rapid fire
questions for you, and you're gonna tell me whether you
agree or disagree, because we want Lulu's hot takes. Okay, okay,
(02:49):
are you ready?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Go?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
All right? Dating in LA is easier than dating in
New York.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Disagree?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Agree, We only get into the dating life. Tough subject.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
All right.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
A hole in one is greater than a standing ovation.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Agree?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, have you had one?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
No?
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Okay, well, then when it happened.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I've had a standing over before and it's great. Trust me.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
That's one of the greatest feelings in the world. But
a hole in one, Yeah, that's impossible.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Right, Yeah, do you have one?
Speaker 1 (03:21):
I've had seven?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Well, maybe it's not impossible.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Okay, First, t jitters with a crowd watching is harder
than doing stand up in front of a full house.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Agree.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, okay. Every golf course should have a shot clock.
Play fast or get fined.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Agree.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Oh, I like it. Your golf it matters more than
your swing.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Is there a middle?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I mean I kind of feel like we should go middle.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, because if you look good, you play good.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
That's right, you know, Okay, facts, I like that, all right.
And then last one, Timberlands are better than any golf shoe.
And we know that you're with Adidas, but we know
you love your Timberlands.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
If there was Adidas in Timberland's collab, that would be
the greatest golf shoe in the world.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
That would be honestly crazy. I'm not sure how that
would look.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
It would be a Timbland with stripes on the side.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
And with just like the spikes at bottom.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah, the laces, Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Keep the laces. That's right. Okay. That was Lulu's hot take,
so let's go ahead and get into it. Yeah, the
hot seat hasn't even happened yet. All right, so let's
get into it. So comedy in your life, I mean
you've been actually doing it for a while, yes, take
us all the way back. How did you even get
into it? When did you know you were funny?
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Well? I always know it was funny, Okay. I like
crack jokes. I've been roasted. I used to roast, like
back in the day, you know, high school all that.
I was always I was a basketball player, so I've
always been in sports. So I've always been around guys
roasting and all that good stuff. But it wasn't until
I met a friend of mine. He was actually my
personal trainer at Bally's Sports Club, and he was a
(05:04):
comedian and I used to make him laugh so much.
He was like, you should do stand up. But at
that time, I was focusing only on acting. I was
a drama actor. I went to drama school. I just
wanted to be taken as a serious actress. I was
like Lauren ord Svi, you know, here I come. And
then another friend of mine, I was telling them stories
(05:25):
and he was like, yo, try stand up, and I
was like, I want to be no funny chick. I'm
a serious actress. Yeah, And he was like, just try it.
And I went to an open mic and it was
at John Lovet's comedy Club. I had three minutes and
I had one joke. Never been in that capacity ever before.
I just started talking and then I made it was
(05:45):
like six people there, and I made the six people laugh,
and then I did the one joke. I think it
was like two minutes. I didn't even do the three
minutes and I got off and then my friend was like,
you see, you made people laugh, like you should write.
And I was like, okay, okay, And ever since, I
was just like, all right, I'm gonna give this a shot.
And I never stopped since then.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Okay, So you've been able to, you know, work alongside,
collaborate and be around a lot of real successful comedians.
Like who's someone that you look up to that's maybe
giving you advice? And what advice had they gave you?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Most, most definitely it was two people at two different
times in my life. When I first started off, I
was very insecure. You know, as a female comedian, it's
very hard out here. It's very different. It's not as
easy for the men. So when I first started off,
you know, I had no real guidance in stand up.
I'm just like kind of winging it. And there's an
(06:39):
art to stand up, there's a structure to it. There's
a way to write your jokes, a way to deliver
your jokes. But the first time I really went on
stage and did some time, I did like five minutes
and Chris Tucker was in the building.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
No way, and I didn't know he was there.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
That's so cool.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
And then after I got off the stage, he was
outside and he was like a funny. He's like, keep
doing what you're doing. He's like, everything that you're saying,
just keep doing it, you know, get get your reps in.
He's like, but you're really funny. Stick to it. And
I just blew my mind like it's Chris Tucker, like
I'm a huge fan, and I was just like a
mind blowing compliment. And then, you know, later on in life,
(07:17):
getting to open up for Joekoy.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Yes, I love Joko by the ways we ride hard
for our feelings exactly. Please yeah, I'm be weird. I'm
not trying to be weird. Just please tell him I
love him, you know what.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
I just being able to open up for him and
the advice he gives because he's one of those headliners
who actually watches you, gives feedback, and he wants you
to win. He really wants you to win. Like he'll
he'll give me like, hey, I like how you said
that joke. Why don't you try adding This is what
we call a tag in the comedy world. So he'll
(07:52):
come out and be like that was funny. Can I
give you a tag? And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
give me all the tags you want. What if you
said it like this or what if you added this
son it? And he'll just tell me, like, you know,
keep doing what you're doing, speak from your heart, tell
your truth like nobody's gonna have your truth. And he'll
literally just give you just like all the gems you
need without holding back. And he doesn't gate keep a
(08:13):
lot of comics gatekeep, And I was just like, wow, okay,
cool for somebody of your status to give me this
type of advice for the free.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I'll take it in the free, I do. I mean,
it's always like affirming to hear like the people that
you look up to or that you really appreciate or
actually genuinely geo you know. So that's pretty cool. I
want to switch gears because I know you you actually
incorporate this into your skits sometimes. But you're an army vet,
yes I am. But not only that, but you're a
combat vet.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yes I am.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
So you were out there like dodging bullets and stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
My main job was I was a gunner, a driver,
and a mechanic. I originally was a mechanic and that
was it. Then I got into a lot of trouble.
And when you get in trouble, they send you to
the range. So I learned like every weapon and the
battalion and then that backfired of me when I went
Tyraq and they was like, man, she know all the weapons,
(09:08):
let's just set her off there. I was like, nah, no, no,
wait a minute, I'm a lady.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
I don't do all that, do.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
All of that.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
I'm not a feminist. At that point, I'm like, no,
let the man do it. Yeah, this gun is too heavy,
Let the land do it.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
So yeah, when I went.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Overseas, I ended up having to do like all the
hard jobs, and I was on convoys, I was on missions,
and I was on the back of trucks. I was
on all of that good stuff. But Bill character. Thank god,
I'm alive, but character.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
For sure, Like what made you want to join?
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh? They pay for school.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
Oh so that was and at the time, all my
friends that was from New York, that was in Virginia,
they had all joined the National Guard. They pay for
your tuition, they pay for your books, they give you
some money, and you know, all my friends was like, girl,
it's easy. We do two weeks in the sum. I mean,
we might miss a weekend or two in a month,
but you'll be good. And I was like, bet, I'm
(10:05):
gonna do that. And then I signed up. And then
it was like, oh, snap, now you gotta go.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Overseas holding guns. I'm out here. I'm like a dirt Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
I was like, wait a minute, I thought we took
hurricanes like we an't got no sand bags.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I can fill out. And it was like, nah, we
need you over there, bro, And I was.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Like that's crazy, go real, But you did it and
you're here now. Okay. So you then pursued comedy and
then eventually golf somehow got into that picture. How did
golf even come into your life?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (10:38):
I was using golf to get men. I'm gonna be real.
I was like, I mean tool, you know. It's like,
you know, because I'm an athlete and I ready did
the basketball thing, and it's hard to meet men on
the basketball court for me because I was really good
at the time. And then when I get really good
at something, I talk a lot of shit. That's fine,
(10:59):
But here's the thing. When you're really good and they're not,
and then you're talking trash, their egos go like this.
So it's like there was no happy medium for me.
I'm not gonna stop talking shit, you know. So I
was like, well, what else can I do? So I
started like dabbling like you know, little put putts or
whatever whatever. But then my first boyfriend out here in
(11:22):
LA he played golf and he tried to use it
as a flex and he was like, hey, first date,
you want to go to the driving range And I
was like, cool, let's go. I've never been to a
driving range before. I'm only done put putt, that's it.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
You know.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
He had like, oh, he's long driving it to fifty
and I'm.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
And I was like okay.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
So he gave me the cloub and he's like, you
don't really have to hit the ball like that. Well,
just you know, try to make contact. And my first
swing is like a perfect straight drive.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Yo, you just crushed it, crushed it.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
And he was like, wait a minute, you sure you
haven't played before. I was like, nah, I've never been here,
I've never done this with where He's like, do it again,
and I hit the ball again straight and he was
like wait a minute, Like, no, man, I think you
playing with me. I was like, I swear to god,
I've never done this before. After that, it's just kind
of just like.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Kept going, kept going, and then it evolved into you
being an ambassador for for Callaway and Adidas. Did you
ever think that golf was going to be a significant
pillar in your career?
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Never?
Speaker 1 (12:24):
In my I was a revenue stream.
Speaker 3 (12:27):
Never right, Never, golf wasn't even on my radar ever
in life. The person who I started going out playing
with I met him at a work event because I
was writing for the Grammys. I wrote a comedy sketch
for Alicia Keys because it was like her promo to say,
like she's hosting the Grammys again. And the person I
was kicking it and having the giggles with the whole
(12:47):
freaking time was her brother.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
And I was like, what did sister?
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Was?
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Ali was ass bro. We were talking about golf. Yeah.
I ended up playing golf with him and there's a
up called Golf Gaming Club.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
He was like, Yo, come to this event. See if
you like it, if you want to join or whatever case.
Maybe I loved it. It was a great vibe. And
then while I was there, the owner of the Golf
Gaming Club was like, Hey, we just got reached out
to Adidas and they like sponsored a couple of our clothes.
Would you be down to do like a photo shoot
for Adidas? And I was like, yeah, mind you. I
(13:23):
had never had a swing, practice, swing anything literally all
from YouTube or whatever. And it took a couple of
pictures of me, gave it to Adidas, and Adidas was like, hey,
would you be cool if we reached out to her
to be an ambassador?
Speaker 2 (13:36):
And they was like, is it okay? We give a
dietas nom.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
I said, you better give Adidas my number, my address,
my email, my social security, you give them everything they want.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
What just play? You Like? What are you talking about?
Like yes? Literally two three months later signed a deal
with Adidas.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
That's amazing dream partnership. I mean, you're rocking it right now.
We love to see it. She's got the whole golf
outfit on. So this is not the first time that
I've ever interviewed you, and this is way more fun
because we get to be more off the cuff.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Oh yeah, about to say what you did to interview me?
But I did.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
I remember, I'm pretty sure during that interview, and correct
me if I'm wrong. You shared a story I think
about a wild experience that you had with like a
swing coach.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
So he's not even a swing coach. He's just a
guy who plays golf who was trying to go pro.
I think he was just very salty about somebody like
me who has no experience signing to Adidas, signing to Callaway.
He had made a comment because I'm usually a little
bit smaller than this, usually like a size six eight,
(14:34):
you know, life happens. I'm now a size ten, you know,
thick hums. And he was like helping me work on
my swing. Like I say, it's not a swing coach,
just a friend who plays golf, okay, And we was
working on my swing and he's like, you see, your
swing could be so much better if you would just
lose some weight.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
And I was like, huh.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
He's like, you see all the professional female golfers, like
they're all very, very skinny. And I was just like okay,
and he's like, yeah, you should need to lose weight
and then your swing will get better, like you'll be
able to like turn more. And I was just like, hmm, okay.
So I was like, so you're trying to say I'm
too fat for golfer? Is that what you're trying to
tell me right now?
Speaker 2 (15:12):
And I was like, duly noted, that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I was like, you're cut off. I mean, if she
drops names, we ride at dawn, wait, I'm grabbing all
the female golfers and you better run. You better better
not see you at any range in LA. Okay, let's
(15:43):
make it a happier note, a happier note. Okay, So
you've been able to travel the world, You've played in
a few pro ams now, right, You've met incredible people.
What would you say is your biggest pinch me moment
in golf?
Speaker 3 (15:56):
You know, I got to hang out and meet Lynn Grant. Yes,
I met a lot of LPGA pros this year.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
You were basically on tour.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Ronnie Go.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
I got to play with you know, the number two
LPGA player in the world, you know. So it's like
I was on such a high. I got to do
some announcing at one of the women's events for the
LPGA players.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
You know, I'm announcing Nellie Guarda. You know. I'm just like, ah,
it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
I had a lot of pinch me moments last year,
like seriously, but I think it was just mostly getting
coaching tips from Ronnie's coach Okay, and him telling me,
you're supposed to be shooting well on the eighty, well
on the seventy. You have a great swing. He's like,
but you're thinking too much. Even when you're swinging, as
soon as you're pulling back, you're thinking. And I was like,
(16:50):
I am because I was like, I don't know if
I know, I know what I'm doing, and that makes
me He said like, I know what I'm doing, but
it's like, but do you really know what you're doing? Yeah,
And he's like, you're good. I want to see. Like
because I challenged Ronnie to another we had. It was
like a Calloway event. Yeah, it was Ronnie and Gino
versus me and another influencer, and it was kind of
like I told her I was like, I'll see you
(17:11):
next year. Let's let's have a rematch. And he was like,
when I see you next year, He's like, I want
to see you, like just going. He's like, just don't think.
He's like you got it. He's like, you really got it.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
I mean you can hit the ball far, so you
got that. So for those of you who don't know,
Ronnie is on the LPGA and she's also a Callowey Ambassador.
She's very young, she's twenty two. She's twenty two. She's
one of the top players. And I think it's just
a really cool experience when you get to like play
against a pro on tour, especially women, like you just
forget how like dang I thought I was getting somewhere girl,
(17:43):
I'm not girl.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
And it was like it was Ronnie and Gino and
they let me hit first, and it was like.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Hey, you could, you really could hit.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
And it is like you watch them this like their
swing is just like smooth and perfect and it's just
like everything about their form it's perfection and you're just
looking like, oh my god, you guys get so good.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
What's crazy is like when you look at the girl's
swing on tour it actually looks effortless. It doesn't even
look like they're like trying to muscle it. But then
it goes like two point fifty on average, and you
see guys hitting brains are coming out of their forehead
and their neck. The women are just like so poised
and elegant about it. And then you're like, I just
got out driven and beat by like one hundred shots.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Well that was the one thing Ronnie did give me.
She was like, you drive the ball further than me.
And I was like, I know, but you're everything else
is better than me.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
But we'll take the good from it. We gonna take
the good.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
I mean, she did comment on one of my last videos
and she was like, I see you've been practicing.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Oh that's so cute, like coming for you. I like that. Okay,
So changing gears here. Golf has changed dramatically, and I
think really for the good, especially for women's golf. But
I just kind of wanted to hear your experience as
an Afro Latina female being in golf, Like do you
feel like we're heading in the right direction?
Speaker 2 (18:59):
I think we are.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
I think like the tone and the picture of golf
is changing, you know, it's becoming a little bit more
inclusive for everybody. And it's like, I think talent is
winning because of course when they see me, they come
out like they're just like, oh, she's cute, but like
like why is she here? And then I hit and
(19:21):
then it's like, oh, this is gonna be a good time,
you know. So I think the perspective of golf is
changing for the better for us on a on a
higher level as far as marketing, because like now there's
like so many women of color that want to play,
so many minority women that want to play, and you're
seeing like now little girls who want to play. So
(19:43):
I think that the tone is shifting a lot.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, I agree. So, like, what advice would you give
females who want to get into the game that maybe
feel a little intimidated because you're very confident, Like the
moment that you stepped away and you broke up with
you know, your ex, you still said, well, I'm gonna
go to the range. I'm just gonna go practice. So like,
what advice would you give other girls who want to
also play the game?
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Well, you gotta, I feel like, you really gotta have
a love for it, right, that's true. You know what
I'm saying, Like, don't do it because it's trending, don't
do it because of a guy, you know, unless you
really end up falling in love with it. Yeah, but
I would say, you know, if you actually have a
genuine interest in it, go for it. You know, you
(20:25):
don't need a Calaway set right now, you don't need that.
Get you the cheap clubs. Go play a little putt putt. Yeah,
you know, maybe go to the range during the day
when all the men who have jobs are at work
and the range is a little bit more empty.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I would just say give it a shot and not
just be so discouraged because it's a male sport.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
And I think a lot of women get scared because
it's a male sport and oh my god, how are
they gonna look at me? Or is my skirt da
da da? Like, just go comfy and open minded.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
I like that, you know, and also like everyone sucks
on the range. Girl, these guys they're no good. You
don't have to worry. You can look cute and not
have to be the best.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
I went to the range last night, and when I say,
the men were looking at me. Every time I go
to the range is a man that comes up to
me and asks me, are you a professional?
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Wait? Let her hear that.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
I was like, yeah, I'm a professional, amateur okay.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
And then when they find out, oh, you are ambassador
for Adidas, You're ambassador for Cowboy, you must be good.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Yeah, I was like, I'm good, I'm good enough, I'm
okay doing it right?
Speaker 2 (21:30):
I mean I want to be in a Creator classic.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Yeah, yes, girl, We'll put in a good word. I
know some people will make it happen.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
I was practicing last night. I was talking to the camera.
I was like, create a classic. I'm coming for that's.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Right, okay for you, Okay, we're going to put that
into the universe. We're going to manifest it. So I
wanted to talk to you a little bit about tour life.
Like when you're on a comedy tour. You know, you
open for Joe Koy, which is amazing. What is that
experience like, like take us through like a day in
the life. When you're touring, it feels kind of crazy.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
Tour life ain't for the week. I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
That right now. I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah, I am single. I don't have any kids. For
a woman, I think that's the only way it really works. Like,
let's say I do a weekend with Joe. Right, for instance,
I flew into DC. You might have that evening right
to recover. Next day, you could relax or whatever. That's
(22:24):
the only time you have to relax. You gotta get
to well for him, he gets to the arena at
five o'clock. We get there five o'clock, We do sound check,
show starts at eight. We do the show, shows over
by eleven. He does a meet and greet. He makes
me do the meet and greet with him, which I
greatly appreciate. Yeah, so I'm out there taking pictures, signing autographs.
(22:44):
We leave directly from there to get something to eat,
get something to drink or whatever. We leave from that,
we hop back on a tour bus. Now we get
on a tour bus and you probably sleep maybe two
or three hours to get to the next location. I
try to sleep a little bit there, wake back up.
Sometimes you wake up at like three o'clock. For instance,
I had an audition, so I had to I slept
(23:05):
two and a half hours on the tour bus, got
to my hotel, slept another two hours, woke up, taped
an audition, finished the audition, went to sound check at
five o'clock, did the whole thing all over again. We
left the show at midnight, hopped back on the tour brush,
drove two hours to New York, got there four or
(23:27):
five am. Flight was at six, got on the plane,
slept for like four hours. I landed back in LA
at ten am, and at noon I had my podcast. Wow,
So that whole weekend I probably slept about eight hours max.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
That's crazy. See, I don't think people really get to
see like the grind that happens, because like, oh, people
just want to get laughed out of you. You know,
I just can't imagine what that does to you mentally,
But you do it with so much grace. Yeah, Like
I feel like that's just like a lot of on
going on.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Yeah, but that's when you need your moments to take
some and I'm learning how to do this now, Like
you got to take some self love. Yeah, you gotta
take a day.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
I try to go get a massage, try to hit
the range, just decompress.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
You have to have your highest energy because you're I'm
on I.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Can't be on stage. They don't care I'm tired. Yeah,
they don't care that I ain't sleep. Bow wait, that's
not their problem. They pay their money. So it's like,
you have to have that energy, you have to be
like on, you have to be an entertainer. And then
it's like, as soon as I get off stage, I
could be on stage like yeah, man, good night, and
then I get on stage, I'm like this.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
I can imagine. Literally, it's survival for you.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Yeah, so imagine if I had a boyfriend.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Okay, so how does Lulu Gonzales date when you're on
tour for basically comedy and golf at this rate?
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Lulu Gonzales doesn't take that's the problem.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
She just threads and tweets about it.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
I do, but a lot of men don't like what
I do. A lot of men just hard, you know.
But here's the thing. I work so hard because I'm single.
You know, I don't have anybody to go home to,
so why not work?
Speaker 2 (25:04):
You know?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
If I had a man, if I had a family,
of course, I would slow down and do things a
little bit differently, maybe not take so many jobs on
the road and focus on being home. But I try
the dating apps. I asked my friends to hook me up.
A lot of men just don't like what I do,
or they feel a lot of very insecure. The most
(25:26):
common thing I hear is I can't afford you.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
So there's nothing.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
There's nothing I could do when a man says that
or if he feels like that, and then they think
that what they see in my sketches is who I
am as a woman, or when they come to my
comedy show, they're trying to put the two together, and
I have to keep in minded no, no, no, no, no,
I'm an entertainer, you know, this is just a different
(25:54):
version of me.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Who I am.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Who you're dating is not who you're going to get
in the sketches, you know. So I always tell a
lot of guys like, don't google me, yes, and they
google me and they're like, are you really like this video?
Speaker 2 (26:07):
And I'm like, you didn't even go.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
On a date with me, yeah, And then when they
do go on a date with me, they're like, oh
my god, you really are soft and feminine. This is
not what I was expecting. And I was like, I'm
a woman, you know, I'm just an actor.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Well, I took it upon myself to actually pull some
of my favorite threads. Oh my, oh god, all right
song letter read it out loud. If you don't follow
Lulu period, at least follow her on threads because this
is what you're gonna see. So apparently men don't like
women who texts first, because he never text.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Me back, girl. So let me tell you. Can I
talk about that?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Okay, yes, let's talk about.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
This has happened recently.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
So I had a show, okay, and there was a
guy at the show who knows me.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Right, we met years prior.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
At the gym. And after the show, I'm doing my
home meet and greed. He comes up to me. He's like,
hey friend, he's gorgeous. And I was like, hey friend,
I don't remember you, but I would never forget you
whatever again, you know. And he's like, you don't remember me.
I'm like I do not.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
I am.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
I'm so sorry I do not. And he was like
he like, you know, rehashing things. I was like, oh,
I do remember you. He's like, yeah, you know, we
lost touch whatever. But he's very flirty. She's in my eyes, okay, give.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Me your hand. He was finger tipping me, oh dumb,
and I was just like, oh whatever.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
And he was just like, you know, it was his birthday,
so I was like, you know, happy birthday. He was like,
I want to come to your next show. I'm so
sorry I missed your your set because he missed my
set at the beginning and I was like yes, and
I was like yes. I was like, so are you
like gonna dam and he's like give me your number.
He like texts me his number, and you know, so
I waited for the evening. I know it's his birthday,
(28:04):
and I sit back in his messages and I was like,
you know, happy birthday again, and he texted me in
the morning, I appreciate you with the heart. And I
was like, oh, this is going somewhere. So I gave
it a time. I waited and asked my homeboys. I
was like should I text them? And I was like yeah,
go ahead of texting. He seemed really interested in you. Okay,
So I in my head this is me texting first.
(28:26):
And I texted him and then he never responded.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Hello, what's happening?
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Were you at?
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Eli?
Speaker 1 (28:36):
First name basis Eli? You fucked up? Bro?
Speaker 2 (28:39):
What's up? Eli?
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Don't flirt like that and then not show up.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
I hope your girlfriend's watching if you got one because
you can't be fingertipping everybody.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
That's your problem.
Speaker 1 (28:48):
Okay, let me read one more thread before we hear
more stories. Okay, this one made me lool. Twenty twenty five,
I'm gonna start giving short kings a chance. I don't
gotta have high elves in my house. Bottom cabinets work
just fine. And the way I died, Okay, short can
come through.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
You know why, because a lot of tall dudes would
be like I could reach the top of the fridge,
and I'm like, you know what.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
I don't even go up the matter anymore.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I don't go up there, go there.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Listen, if we could fill the bottom cabinets, baby, you
are mine, let's go.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
I got some tembulance for you. You could be five eleven.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
There you go, get the little wedge, get.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
You a little lift there go. Okay, So yeah, I'm trying.
I'm gonna be open minded this year. I'm gonnaive a
short manut a chance.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Okay, we like that. So what would you? Can you
share with me one of your craziest or wildest dating
story you want to talk about your friend? All right,
let's do it. Okay, all right? Can I even backstory.
All right, okay, so so listen, we were at TGL
once again, and I asked I always ask Lulua every time.
I'm like, what's the update, what's your dating status? And
(29:55):
you know, I'm over here trying to play match maker
because that's what I like to do, and I'm engaged
now and like, I'm so that's what I'm gonna do
every time. And my trainer he's a good looking man,
all right, He's tall, dark and handsome, good looking man.
But also when there's a good looking man who is
not in a serious relationship and is that much older,
you also wonder, like what's going on?
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Where's the guy with the red flag that be running by?
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Okay? All right? And so then Lulu actually hit me
and was like, okay, I'm kind of interested, and so
I thought bet and I kind of went like full force,
like thumbs were moving a little too fast for my
own good. I maybe started off a little too strong,
and I was hitting up my trainer and I was like, okay,
like yeah, I'm gonna try to hook you all up, basically,
and he was down. Lulu's down, and then you know.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
It's so funny.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Unbeknown it's to you because I figured this out the
other day when I had sent you that message. Okay,
he was in my DMS heavy for the past two
three year.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Yes, that's right, you texted me about that. He was.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I just I looked at the message. He's been in
my DM's heavy right for the past two three years.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Like, why would you not take advantage of now the
fact that it's like, Lulu, is I hear?
Speaker 3 (31:01):
I knew it was gonna be bad from the first
time he texted me, and he texted me like this
was like I was a new client, like it was
a business deal.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
He was like, Hi, this is good evening.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Good evening, this is Titi's friend. Give me a call
when you can.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
But you did have a couple of phone calls.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Yeah, and it was me leading the conversation information.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Yeah, and then the last phone call where I was
just like I'm over it. I called him right, I
had a long day, I work, he worked.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Whatever.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
I said, give me a phone call tomorrow, like an afternoon,
because he said that's when he's available. He never did
I call him at night because I'm like, damn you,
I didn't hear from you. You said you was gonna
call me, so I reached out to him. I called
him and then su as he answered whim he goes.
I was like you good, Like he's like, yeah, I'm
(31:56):
just just it was nine o'clock.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Yeah, I'm just you know, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Nig okay, mister tied. I was like, well, then call
me tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
But another time he cut me off too because he
had to go eat and he was like, I'm gonna
go eat.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I talked to you tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
I was like, I'll talk to you tomorrow, not after
the meal. It's tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Oh like, well, god, you're your meal sir, but you've
been in my DMS heavy and then your ghost me
and then guess who slides in my DMS when I
cut my hair and put a little heart on it,
and I sent him the emoji of Chris Tucker going like.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
This, get on out of here. That's right. I know.
I will say that when I saw him, and he
was like, you know, I did try to like kind
of creep back in and then reintroduce the conversation because
I had a race that week, and I was like,
just say that, just say that you couldn't talk. You know,
you had a race. I know, are you Lance Armstrong?
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Are you getting paid for this? Do you want a
woman or a medal?
Speaker 1 (32:59):
See?
Speaker 3 (33:00):
That's where y'all be conclude live and what you want?
Speaker 2 (33:04):
What you are you getting endorsements? Is it getting endorsements?
Speaker 1 (33:08):
Yeah? A little, a little bit. Yeah, yeah, I mean,
but I mean, no excuse for the poor communication.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Just tell me, hey, I can't I can't talk right now. Yes,
I got X Y and Z gone. Yes, I agree,
x Y and Z going on too. I would have
been like, okay, cool, good luck on right, get that
money and I'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Yeah, I see you know what that again, that was
a mismatch. There's plenty more fish in the seat that
we are gonna find and make sure that it's like
Lulu approved. We'll work on it. We'll work on I
was on the hot seat, y'all. Lulu was texting me
and I was like, uh, I think I fucked up.
We are gonna figure this out. We're gonna find the
right match. Okay, all right, So we're gonna end on
(33:50):
a fun little game kind of similar to how we started.
And the game is called what if. So I'm just
gonna give you a scenario. I'm gonna ask you a
question and you just really you're just gonna answer. You're
gonna tell me what you would do?
Speaker 2 (33:59):
All right? What if?
Speaker 1 (34:01):
What if you could recruit any celebrity to be your
caddie for a tournament? Who are you trusting to carry
the bag and maybe talk some trash for you?
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Tiger Woods? Oh, hands down, he's the best trash talker.
He's funny. Yeah, and that's like the cheek code.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Yeah, Like why would not want him there? Yeah? You'd
be shooting under part at that rate? Okay, all right?
What if you can make one new rule for dating
in America that every single person has to follow and abide. Bye.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
If you go somebody or are non communicative, you have
a fine and you have to pay that fine. You
know what, I bet you a lot of people will
not ghost you anymore because they don't want to pay
that fine.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
That's facts. I would actually solve a lot of problems
and probably save a lot of trauma.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Because I'm not gonna want to pay you one hundred
dollars because I ghosted you. I would call you back
or at least say hey, girl, I can I'm not
interested on.
Speaker 2 (34:52):
X, Y and Z.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I got a race.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
I got a race.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
You know.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
I bet you if you had that one hundred dollar five,
you would have texted me back. Huh.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
Okay, last what if? What if if you could trade
places with any comedian for one day? Who are you
swapping lives with? And what's the first thing that you do?
Speaker 2 (35:08):
I would trade places with Kevin Hart? Reasons? Okay, okay,
I'm going to cast Lulu Gonzale.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
And a multimillion dollar picture for five pictures mandatory minimum,
and also going to give Lulu Gonzales twenty million dollars.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
That's it. That's it. So that's the end to what if?
For Lulu? What's on the horizon?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Uh so, yeah, your girl starting her own tour, doing
her own thing. And for golf Man, whatever is whatever happening,
I'll be there.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
And you got a podcast, he said.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Starting my own podcast.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
All about dating, all about dating.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
So the name of the podcast is going to be
called what that Mouth Do, And it's all about talking
crap and everything that's happened. And I have a whole
segment called am I Wrong? Because I'm gonna be the
judge Jerry and sentenced her to let people know you
were wrong in that situation.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Okay, I like it. And where can everyone find you?
Speaker 3 (36:09):
You can find me at Lulu Gonzalez across the board
loul Ou Gonzales. And if you want to send your
dating stories to me lol with Lou at gmail dot com.
And that's Lou. People always want to say Lu, it's.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Lo oul Ou. Yeah, well, Lulu, thank you so much
for joining the party. I had the best time with.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
