Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning, Peeves, and welcome to WOKF Daily with Meet
your Girl Danny Almody, recording from the Home Bunker. Folks,
Happy woke Wednesday. I don't know about you, but I
am just dying to barrel towards this holiday weekend, and
I wish that there was no news to report. You know,
I missed the days when things used to slow down?
(00:34):
Do you remember that? I don't even know when that was.
Was it twenty fifteen? Was it twenty fourteen? Where you
could predict the patterns of our politics? And I knew when,
you know, I could take a break versus when I
could not. And oh, it's going to be the holiday,
so it's going to be slow. No, none of that
is happening and hasn't happened in quite some fucking time.
(00:55):
So let's get into it with some of the stories
of this week. So, the defense has rested in Donald
Trump's electoral interference case aka the hush money case. They
provided two witnesses, and now after the Memorial Day weekend,
we will begin closing arguments. You know, I'm being asked,
(01:17):
do I think that Donald Trump is going to go
to jail? No, folks, I don't I don't ever think
that Donald Trump is going to go to jail. I
think that Donald Trump could commit murder in front of
you know, eleven thousand cameras, and I don't think that
Donald Trump would go to jail. When Donald Trump said
so many moons ago that he could kill somebody in
the middle of Fifth Avenue and watch his poll numbers rise, yeah,
we all laughed at it. It was fucking true. So
(01:40):
what do I think the outcome of this case is
going to be. I have no idea. I have faith
in New Yorkers above all other people in the country
because I am one, but you know, I have no idea.
I hope that the prosecution can lay out a very
clear closing argument, kind of set it up in the
way of a series finale of a show and connecting
(02:02):
all of the dots and dotting all of their eyes
and crossing all of their te's to make the jury
aware of what this case has always been about, which
is the fact not that Donald Trump fucked a porn star.
I could care less right whether he did or did not,
not whether he had an affair or not, whether he
lied to his wife. But the fact is is that
Donald Trump lied, used campaign finance money in order to
(02:26):
cover up said lie. And he wasn't lying to protect
his wife because who gives a fuck about her. He
was lying so that the American public would not see
a pattern of behavior following the Access Hollywood tape. That's
what the fuck he was doing. And So if we
bring ourselves back to twenty sixteen and how close that
election was, do we think that learning more about who
(02:48):
Donald Trump is what he had done in order to
get into the position that he then would later arrive
in as president of the United States? Would he have
had that ability if we had all known the truth. Now,
while I believe that the Access Hollywood tape should have
been a fuck enough to debt his entire campaign and
his presidential prospects, America thought otherwise. So, you know, I
(03:12):
think that what is important for the prosecution to do
when they come back for oral arguments is to wrap
this up the way that fucking Shonda Rhimes did Scandal,
so that it's clear, you know what happened, you know
why it happens, and you have no other choice but
to convict, right, because anything less than a guilty verdict
in this case, which we know Donald Trump will appeal
(03:33):
at nauseum, but anything less than a guilty verdict is
going to be spun into a win for Donald Trump.
So that's what folks need to be taking into consideration.
I don't know where the fuck this goes, because I'm
not a fortune teller and I can't read the tea leaves,
and every time I try, you know what, fate would
have it, things go in another direction. Speaking of Donald
Trump and his campaign. So there's a story right now
(03:57):
that is going around that both the Biden campaign is
trying to take advantage of as well as mainstream media
is finally paying attention to it, which is the fact
that on his broke down social media platform that Donald
Trump retweeted a video that was done about how Maga
is gonna make the world better again. There'll be no war,
(04:19):
They'll be you know, economic relief, there'll be a deportation
of fifteen million undocumented people, so on and so forth.
It'll just be you know, amazing in America again. Yeah,
read the fine print. If you're white, if you're straight,
if you're sis, if you're a man, you know all
of those things. And if you're wealthy, right, everyone else
dot dot dot nonetheless, in this fucking video that Donald
(04:42):
Trump would find himself fucking resharing. It talks about America
not just being great again, but being under a united Reich.
And when you think of Reich ore Ei c h.
What does that conjure memories of Oh, I will tell
you at Conjure's memories Hitler and the Third Reich, you know,
their final order of business, where the Germans were going
(05:06):
to hold power for thousands and thousands of years. This
is what Donald Trump has re shared. And when his
campaign was met with some questions about, you know, his
allegiance to Nazism and white supremacy, they say, oh, Donald
Trump didn't post this, It was posted by his staffer.
And even though again it was brought to their attention
(05:26):
how this was very reminiscent of Hitler, they kept up
the post until just recently on his social media page.
Here's what I want to alert people to. Donald Trump
is not hinting at being like Hitler. Donald Trump is
like Hitler. Right, Donald Trump is not pretending to tell
(05:47):
his white supremacist people to stand back and stand by.
He is directing them to do so. Right. When Donald
Trump says that he wants to be a dictator on
day one. It's not a joke. He actually will be
a dictator on day It will be the last election
that we have when his former you know, greasy fucking
(06:07):
attorney's attorneys tell the truth and say, yeah, Donald Trump
talks about, you know, brags about you being able to
use the FBI as his own gestapo, right to investigate
his political opponents, throw people that he doesn't like in jail. Right, Again,
these are not jokes. It is laid out by Project
twenty twenty five how they will gut these government agencies
(06:30):
of career policy folks, right of career public servants in
order to put in their groups of sycophants twenty thousand.
I've so far signed up for this task. And so
when he says that he's going to use right the
FBI as his gestapo or the Department of Justice as
(06:52):
his own political weapon, and you think, oh, well, that
could never happen. The only reason why Donald Trump was
enabled to shoot protests in Lafayette Square during the uprisings
that followed the killing of George Floyd was because there
were people there that stopped him. Those people will be
long gone and are not coming back to Trump's fear
(07:13):
at this moment in time. So the only people that
are going to be around Donald Trump are those people
that will just say, yes, right, it doesn't matter if
it breaks the law, because if your president, according to
Donald Trump and Richard Nixon, nothing that you do right
could possibly be breaking the law. And if the Supreme
Court hands him, you know, a win in the immunity case,
(07:35):
which the forty four presidents that came before him didn't
have and managed to do their jobs without it, then
we're just spopped. Because Donald Trump can decide that he's
going to kill Joe Biden, he can decide to assassinate
Barack Obama, he can decide to jail any journalists that
he wants and guess what, it will be legal, much
(07:56):
in the same way that the Holocaust was legal, much
in the same way that Jim Crow was legal, much
in the same way that the genocide that is taking
place in Israel is legal. Right. So the fact is,
folks like take Donald Trump at his actual word, he
lies a lot, but he also has doubled down and
tripled down when he was president of the United States
(08:19):
on the things that he said that he would do.
He would appoint justices that would overturn roeby Wade, they did,
as well as affirmative action, as well as gun control
in the States, as well as, you know, any other
thing that we think can't possibly be overturned, like Brown
versus the Board of Education, same sex marriage, you know,
(08:39):
just name it. Because what I want folks to understand
is that the rights that we enjoy, or some of
the ones that are still left that we enjoy in
this country came through the courts. They did not come
through policy. And guess what Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell
made sure that they owned during the during his four
years in the presidency, all of those vacancies that were
(09:01):
on the courts are filled by right wing radicals as
well as as sixty three Supreme Court right now, that's
filled with fucking rifters and liars. So when I continue
to say the folks that the last defense that we
have as a country against Donald Trump and trump Ism
is our vote, like this is what the fuck that
I am saying? But Donald Trump is being very clear
(09:24):
about what he plans to do, right, Like, he's not
mincing words, So folks can't turn around and be like,
I'm shocked, right when all of a sudden, your neighbors
start disappearing, and all of a sudden, your friends start disappearing,
and all of a sudden, public schools start being shut
down and gutted, and religious charter schools are popping up
in their place, and that there's no social safety nets
(09:46):
and your aged parents or your poor family member have
no recourse when you start to see an overflux of homelessness.
But then they just throw those people in jail right
to get them out of your vision. Like, folks, I
want to understand that as bad as things are, and
I don't argue that they are not bad, right, everything
(10:07):
can always get worse. Let me do an honorable mention
for this fucking idiot that some of you may know
but other people may not, which is amber Rose. For
those that are not invested in hip hop culture, let
me just give you a little primer into who amber
Rose is. Amber Rose at one time was dating Kanye West,
(10:30):
was dogged out by Kanye West when he decided to
leave her and then get into a relationship with Kim Kardashian.
Gamber Rose also has a child by rapper Tiger. Tiger
was dating Kim Kardashian's sister Kylie Jenner when he was
twenty something years old and she was sixteen. But that's
besides the point. Here's the thing. Amber Rose, who has famously,
(10:53):
you know, talked about women's rights, has done a quote
unquote slut walk right to try and lift the stereotypes
of you know, sexually active women, women who choose to
own their bodies and enjoy sex and pleasure and talk
about these things. And so for quite some time, you know,
she has tried to do a rebrand of sorts, and
(11:17):
most recently, you know, her next level of rebrand has
been to say that she is now supporting Donald Trump. Right. Mind,
you the woman has a black son. She's biracial, and
she has a son with a black man. So she
has a black son, and she has decided to come
out and say that she is going to support Donald Trump,
(11:38):
that you know, Donald Trump is about freedom and this,
that and the other thing. Well, let me just say this,
if you're taking political advice from Amber Rose, you have
bigger problems. But what I want to lift up here
is the trend that is happening inside of hip hop
where you have Ice Cube and Amber Rose and others
that are you know, not above the grift, I guess, right,
(12:03):
And you know this is a way. Let me tell
you something, what is lucrative if you ever listen to
democracy Ishahod and I talk about this all the time,
which is that to be a right wing puppet pundit
or what have you is to make a lot of
money in being wrong and on the wrong side of
history and on the wrong side of like facts. But regardless,
(12:26):
if you have no morals right and no values, then
it's a pretty good grift, right, you can make millions
of dollars. And so I look at the move that
Amber Rose is making and I was just like, you know,
there were lots of people that called this woman out
years ago talking about the way that she's only black
(12:47):
when it suits her, but otherwise she leans on her
white presenting self as as a mode of privilege. And
this is just to me another case of her doing
the most with knowing the least. But I think that
the trend in and of itself, to me inside of
hip hop culture is really problematic right now because it
(13:10):
goes along this idea that Donald Trump is going to
be able to peel off enough black votes, enough Latin
X votes for it to hurt Joe Biden and for
him to be able to win. All I want to say,
you know and provide for you, because I know none
of those motherfuckers listening to my show. But what I
will say to folks who do have these types of
(13:32):
people in your life is you know, all you can
do is try and remind them that like Donald Trump
hates women overturned Roe V. Wade, Donald Trump hates people
of color, and his justices overturned affirmative action. Donald Trump
(13:53):
told police officers to you know, rough people up when
he was arresting them. He wanted to shoot protesters in
the legs. So he doesn't believe in the freedom of speech.
And he has called those that come from African nations
shithole countries. He has said that the only good people
are those that come from places like Norway and Finland
(14:14):
aka white. Donald Trump has done everything to insult the
disabled community, to harm women, to harm black people, to
say that he's too smart to pay taxes, which makes
the rest of us just a bunch of idiots. Donald
Trump is a terrible fucking person right on top of
being a criminal. And so for anyone to say that
(14:38):
he is going to be better for the black community,
or better for any community other than white supremacs is
wild to me. It just means that you're not paying attention,
or you're so deep in your delusion right that you
can't find your way out. So, you know, my whole
thing with Amber Rose ice Cube and other people like them,
(14:59):
Charlemagne the god who wants to, for whatever reason, bring
on Republican apologists to his show and then offer them
softball questions, knowing that these very people and their rhetoric
has harmed the Black community, the community that he relies
on for his paycheck and his fame, is wild to me.
It's wild to me. But then again, I'm a person
with integrity, right, and so it is wild to me
(15:21):
the way in which people will abandon any sense of
morality and values in order to make a buck. You know,
But what do I know. I'm not rich, nor do
I aspire to wealth. That has me let go of
my scrupuls. So let me put that out there. I
(15:44):
think that as the months go on, what I want
for Democrats to do is to not go to war
with Donald Trump and not make this election a binary
choice between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. I want this
to be an election and a referendum against the entire
Republican Party. Right now, you have the Senate right in
(16:08):
the state of North Carolina that is voted to make
it illegal for people to wear masks in public for protection. Right,
What about though, I don't even have to go down
the list if I want to put a mask on
my own fucking face. What the fuck does that have
to do with you? It doesn't, right. And if you're
saying like, oh, it's about safety, it's about this then
(16:30):
and the other thing, then do what TSA does when
people roll up to the airport with a mask on.
Take it down very briefly. Okay, great, see your face,
got it, keep it moving. What does this have to
do with you? This party that is about freedom, that
keeps wanting to restrict your freedom to care for yourself
in any which way that you deem necessary. So just
(16:50):
take a look at what they're doing in North Carolina.
Then go up to Virginia and see what Governor Ynkin
is doing there where he just vetoed. I mean a
massive amount of legislation, but one in particular that stands
out is the right for people to have contraception because
he doesn't want it to get in the way of
other people's religious freedom. What does me putting a pill
in my mouth have anything to do with you? It doesn't, right,
(17:14):
and so your religion may restrict you, but your religion
should not have the ability to restrict me. That's what
it means to live in a country that doesn't abide
by the Bible, but abides by the Constitution. And what
the Republicans want to do is to throw out the
Constitution in lieu of their interpretation, their warped interpretation of
(17:35):
the Bible. So I need folks to see very clearly
what is happening when you have the ability to criminally
charge doctors for wanting to provide healthcare in the form
of an abortion to people with uteruses and pregnant women
in emergency situations that are willing to do what the
(17:57):
Supreme Court did a couple of weeks ago, which is
to debate how much blood a woman can lose right
how close to death, how many organs need to be
failing before a doctor does something to help save them
all because of somebody else's religious values and morals, Like
my life has to be put on the line. I
was talking to a woman the other day that was
(18:18):
telling me about a friend of hers that is getting,
you know, trying to get pregnant through ivf right, and
it's now terrified that when she becomes pregnant, because she
has to travel for work a lot, what if something
happens if she lands or is having a layover in
a state that criminalizes women in their uteruses and she's
in the midst of a medical emergency. She doesn't live
(18:39):
in that state, but she will need to get care.
These are the types of thinking, the types of ways
that women are having to think about their safety in
this country. She's not talking about what happens if I
fly abroad. She's talking about what happens if I fly
from New York and have to connect through fucking Georgia. So, folks,
(19:01):
this election is not just between two people that you
may like or not like. It is about what kind
of life do you want? Because trust and believe that
people who believe that politics have no effect on their
lives need to look around and ask themselves how they've
(19:24):
been the last nine years. Talk to people that are
in states like Louisiana and Tennessee and Alabama and Florida
and Texas, you want that shit nationalized. So whether or
not you think that Joe Biden needs to be the
fucking savior and write on all things, he absolutely is
(19:46):
not right on all things, but you know what, he
is right on the Constitution. And so I'd rather have
a president that I can fight with without penalty and
fight for a better country without fear of jail, deportation
(20:08):
or worse than whatever the fuck Donald Trump has in store.
And by the way, we know what he has in
store because he's said it in explicit terms. So you know,
I urge people, as we continue to make this march
towards you know, the fucking election, right that this is
(20:32):
so much bigger, right than these two fucking people who,
by the way, right like their lives won't change much
because they're both white, and they're both wealthy, and they're
both men. It is about who has the best policies
for your life, the life of your family moving forward.
(20:56):
And I'm gonna take a guess that the one that
has mind com you know as bedtime reading, ain't it.
But that's just me. That is it for me today,
dear friends on wokef folks, I want to remind you
