Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning, peeps, and welcome to wok F Daily with
Meet your Girl Danielle Moody recording from Chicago, Folks. I
am having a fucking time here. It is extraordinary. The
energy is palpable, the excitement is electric the past couple
(00:34):
of days here and I'm recording this just starting day three,
So this is going to be a recap of the
Obamas of Doug em Hoff speeches that were extraordinary. I
I'm going to start off this podcast by saying, y'all
that mustard seed of hope has moved from a garden
(00:59):
to a meadow. Right now. I feel in my spirit,
in my bones that we are going to win, and
not just when we are going to demolish Donald Trump
and MAGA. There is something, and it was said by
Hillary Clinton on Night one, there is something going on.
(01:22):
And it is not just here in Chicago where I
am right now, but it is happening around the country.
The energy that people have, the hopefulness, the possibility, the patriotism, okay,
that people are feeling around this candidate, around Vice President
(01:44):
Kamala Harris, around Tim Walls. It is extraordinary. And I'll
be honest, I did not feel this in twenty sixteen.
While I liked Hillary Clinton, I was not in love
with Hillary Clinton the way that I loved the Obamas.
I was not, you know, overcome. I wanted to experience history,
(02:09):
which is why I went to the DNC in twenty sixteen.
I wanted a woman to become president, and I know
that Hillary Clinton at that time was the most qualified
candidate to ever run for the presidency. At the same time,
I just you know, it wasn't the same vibe. But
also the country was in a completely different place. We
(02:32):
were coming off eight years of Obama, thinking that oh,
this bravy train just gonna keep rolling, and it didn't.
Not only did it stop, the whole shit was overturned
and set on fire and introduced maga and darkness for
the next eight to nine years. So when we are
(02:52):
watching and experiencing this convention, it is a reclamation of
our patriotism and our power, not just as Democrats but
as Americans. Because I've said this on so many shows
and over so many years now, we have ceded too
(03:13):
much fucking ground to the Republicans. We've allowed them to
have a monopoly on faith, We've allowed them to have
a monopoly on family values. We've allowed them to have
a monopoly on patriotism right, when in fact they could
give a fuck about your family. They don't even care
(03:34):
about their own. Evidence by Donald Trump and his inability
to form any type of emotional feelings towards his actual
fucking children, right, as evidence by jd Vance who went
on Fox News to apologize for his wife not being white.
It is evident who really cares about all families? Right?
(03:59):
Who really cares about faith? When you allow people to
exercise their faith in any which way that they choose.
It is evident that when you are working to build
a multiracial coalition of people who want to see the
(04:21):
American dream be possible, not just for themselves but for everyone,
that is what patriotism looks like. One speech after the other,
dear friends, over the last couple of days has been
a reminder of the stark differences between Democrats and Republicans. One.
(04:46):
It is evidenced just by looking in the crowds. Which
convention do you want to be at? Because the RNC
look like a fucking wake right, it look like a
handmaid's tail fucking rally. There was not a person of
color in sight. You know, You had these people mimicking
(05:12):
their so called leader with taping Maxi pads to their ears.
They look stupid, they looked foolish, and it was a mess.
Hulk Hogan on the stage ripping off his shirt, washed
up rock stars singing their washed out songs. If that's
(05:34):
what they think America like makes America great, you can
keep that shit to yourself. Then change the channel and
you're at the DNC and our role call set the
place on fire. First of all, I mean shout out
to who planned this change of the role call with
(05:58):
bringing out and I think it's d Nice. Who is
the DJ that is dropping beats for every state? Little
John folks, little John reppin' Georgia singing from the windows
to the walls. I mean, come the fuck on, you
(06:20):
don't get better than that, right, You had New York
with Jay Z and Alicia Key's Empire state of Mind.
You had California with three songs My Highlight not like
Us by Kendrick Lamar. I mean, we came armed to
(06:42):
the teeth with joy. And when Morning Joe rolled out
a video on their social media that said a tale
of two roll calls, and you looked at the R
and C in comparison to the DNC, I mean America.
The choice is clear, right, what do you want your
(07:06):
future to look like? Because I'm sure as hell don't
want that not to mention that after the roll call
is done that we then zoom out from Chicago and
head over to another stadium that is filled in Milwaukee
(07:29):
where the Vice president and Governor Walls are for a rally.
So you want to talk about who can pack stadiums,
The Harris Walls team packed two at the same fucking time.
You cannot make this stuff up. And let me tell
(07:52):
you Barack Obama and that fucking slick dick joke that
he told about crowd size. I like to lose my
mind inside of that arena alongside everybody else because the
cackles and the gasps and the oh no, he fucking
(08:12):
didn't was like echoed around that space. Let me just
say this before I get into the Obamas, because they
are worthy of their own like you know, however many
minutes I can deliver, But let me talk to you
first about the second gentleman. Doug em Off. First of all,
(08:35):
the video that introduced him to the stage that his
children put together brought absolute tears to my eyes. Their
love story, their family love story was beautiful, the perspective
(08:56):
of their children and what it means to have a beautiful, big,
blended family. That's America. You don't need to have birth
children to be a mother, You don't need to share
blood with people to create a family. And there are
(09:21):
so many machinations of family that we have in this country.
And so for the Republican Party to try and say that, well,
man and woman and two point five kids and only
(09:43):
dogs we shoot and kill evidently is insane. And I
just I have to say that I have a stepfather, right,
I have friends that I consider my family, right, that
(10:04):
I spend holidays with. The beauty of this country is
that we all get to make our way right. It's
not prescribed, and no it is not perfect, but it
is ours to make. And so his story of their love,
(10:27):
how they built their family of just allowing us a
little window into who he is. I tweeted this that night,
and I said, this is what masculinity looks like. To
love your kids, to love your wife, to stand up
(10:49):
for what's right, because we, for too long have been
fed nothing but a steady diet of toxic masculinity and misogyny,
having us believe that ripping your shirt off and you know,
demeaning and dehumanizing other people is what makes you strong. Right.
(11:10):
The comparison, the start, comparison to what true partnership should
look like is what Doug m Hoff offered the American people,
and that's what we should strive for. There were so
many similarities in terms of you know, a writer and
(11:33):
feminist Jill Philipvit. She tweeted and said, so the theme
of that night that Doug m Hoff and the Obama
spoke were was men that married well, because you don't
need to be in relationship with somebody that has you
shrink your light in order to focus on them. But
that's what Republicans would have you believe. Marriage is supposed
(11:57):
to look like little woman staying at home, keeping our
fucking mouth shut, uterus full, and dinner on the table.
That's that nineteen fifties, nineteenth century bullshit that they want
to offer up in Project twenty twenty five. I tell
(12:19):
you that there isn't a clearer vision of who the
country is and can be than what we have been
seeing over the last couple of days. And so with that,
let me transition to what had me leave my body
(12:40):
as a spiritual experience, which was our forever flowtus. Michelle
missed me with the bullshit Obama Lord. That speech is
going to be studied in schools. It was the best
(13:03):
political speech I have ever heard in my entire life,
Not just the best one that Michelle Obama gave, but
the best one I have ever fucking heard. For years, zup,
I have wanted Democrats to fight back, to take on
(13:24):
the bully because we are fucking better, and all they
do is fucking gripe and wine. Michelle Obama drag Donald
Trump for fucking filth. She called that man small. I
don't know how many fucking times. Narrow talked about the
(13:48):
affirmative action of generational wealth that the rest of us
will never benefit from, talking about the multiple chances that
these motherfuckers get to fail up right, where most of
us will only get one chance if that. She talked
about the fact that we do not need to get
(14:11):
ourselves locked in this quote unquote Goldie locks ideology where
everything has to be just right, otherwise we sit around
and wring our hands. No, Michelle Obama took us to
fucking school and church and to the moon and back.
She talked about MAGA, she talked about Trump, She talked
(14:36):
about who we are and that they do not get
to have a monopoly on what it means to be
an American. And I have told y'all that my patriotism
has grown by leaps and bounds. It is restored. I
feel regenerated over this last month because I seated ground
(15:00):
to those people that told me that I should be
ashamed and embarrassed by this country, that I don't belong
here no more. I was at an event with HRC
and Planned Parenthood. HRC Human Rights Campaign is an LGBTQ
national organization, Planned Parenthood you all know, reproductive health organization,
(15:26):
and we were chanting usay, USA, usay at that event
like we were at the fucking Olympics. Because that's how
people are feeling. They don't get to claim patriotism, they
don't get to own it and own this flag. We
(15:48):
are taking that back. And as Michelle Obama said, hope
is making a comeback. And I have never felt more energized,
more static, more on fire than I have over the
last four weeks. And I cannot believe that it has
only been a month, because while I can't believe it
(16:08):
has been a month, it also feels like four fucking
years have passed. We are living in an extraordinary time, folks,
This is an extraordinary time. We have such incredible opportunity
in this moment to create a new path and vision
for America that has America live up to the possibility
(16:33):
of who it can be, the Unfinished Promise. As Michelle
Obama said, the Obamas sixteen years ago made us rethink
who is supposed to be president, who this country belongs to.
They opened up our eyes, our hearts, our sense of hope,
(16:58):
and they did it again here by telling us that
it is each of our jobs to protect Kamala Harris
because they are going to come for her in the
way that they came for the Obamas. And what do
we have to do, as she said, and as the arena,
chanted do something. We are not going to sit around
(17:21):
and wring our hands because we do not have time
for anxiety. We do not have time to allow negativity
to take over us. This is our fucking time. This
is our country, and we are going to take it back,
village by village, city by city, and state by fucking state.
(17:45):
I believe in the possibility of this moment. I believe
that the people are energized. We have less than seventy
six days to go, and we have to do everything
we can can every day that we can in order
to get the Harris Wolls ticket over the finish line
(18:08):
with numbers that can't be suppressed with their bullshit. It
is on us that is it for me today, Dear
friends on Woke af AS always, power to the people
and to all the people. Power, get woke and stay
woke as fuck.
