Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning, Peepsen, and welcome to ok F Daily with
Meet your Girl Danielle Moody, recording from the Home Bunker.
As I stated on Friday, I am really not interested
in the blow by blow of the Trump administration. As
I find information to be important pertinent to your day
(00:35):
to day lives, to our day to day lives, I
will offer it up. I think what this moment is
calling for is not the anxiety and dread that come
with each ding through your phones or computers that tell
you what awful thing has happened, or what stupid thing
was said, or what fucking dumb op ed Vivek Ramaswami
(00:59):
and Elon muss keV authored that will tell the rest
of America, while they are multimillionaires and billionaires, that we
need austerity that will just plummet this country into poverty
and certain misfortune. But they will be fine. They will
be laughing all the way to the bank, because not
only are they multimillionaires and billionaires, but now they're going
(01:21):
to be receiving a government check on top of the
amount of handouts that they get from a break in
their taxes. That being said, I think that there is
a larger question for all of us to be asking
right now, which is what is to become of the
Democratic Party. And I asked that question coming off of
(01:43):
a Friday show that I did with my co host
Jajahat Ali on Democracy Ish, where we ask the question
is it finally time for new leadership? And the answer
is a resounding yes. And I say that because I
am pretty much at my wits end with this political party.
(02:05):
And I am a person that has been a staunch
Democrat my entire life. I have worked on Capitol Hill,
i have worked at think tanks, I've worked in schools,
I have utilized multiple media platforms, and you know, done
the most to try and be a voice in some way,
(02:25):
shape or form inside of this party. And it isn't
just the results of this election that have me questioning things, because,
as I've stated before, VP Kamala Harris and Tim Walls
ran one of the best campaigns I've ever seen. And sure,
(02:46):
in hindsight there are things that could have been done,
but largely in three months, they put together the best
campaign that we had arguably seen since Obama. Fresh voices,
fresh perspective, great social media presence, a willingness to really
(03:08):
connect with new media with young people. They were about business.
And what makes me angry is that Kamala Harris shouldn't
have had only three months to be quote unquote introduced
to the American people. That who I have a lot
of ire for right now is Joe Biden and establishment
(03:31):
Democrats that have had what I continue to refer to
as a failure of imagination around where the Republican Party
was trying to drag this country and coming up with
innovative ideas and ways to not only one alert the
American people of the ropodope that Republicans were trying to
(03:53):
pull on them, but also also put forward real clear
old revision that was about not restoring, as Wajahat said
on democracy is not restoring America, but reforming our American
government and system and culture. Because, as he said, restoration
(04:20):
is fundamentally believing that what you have is worth preserving. Right.
When you think about restoration for a home, you want
to strip it down and get it back to where
it shined right and then begin the restoration progress. Sometimes
(04:42):
there are homes that actually aren't worth saving that you
really just look at the land that it's on and
you say, well, the land is great, but we need
a new foundation, we need new building, structure, and we
need something else. That's where the Democratic Party is. I
am I'm so fucking sick and tired of listening and
(05:03):
hearing Chuck Schumer as a New Yorker. I have had
Chuck Schumer in my life since I was fucking born,
and Folks, I am not young. I have had Nancy
Pelosi in my life since I was born. It is
time that these people hang up the fucking cloaks right,
(05:25):
put down the fucking gavels, and move on with their lives.
They have seen America through a lens that no longer exists,
and all they are doing now is more harm than good.
Last week I lifted up the voices of Alexandrio, Cassio Cortez,
(05:47):
Jasmine Crockett, and Summerly, three of the most thoughtful, outspoken,
brilliant women of color inside of the day Democratic Party.
And these are the women that I want to hear from.
These are the women that are actually prepared for this moment.
(06:11):
They are prepared because they know exactly who they're dealing with,
and they're not afraid to call out these people for
who and what they are. You had Representative Jasmine Crockett
sitting in committee where white Republican men are introducing legislation
that would dismantle DEI because in their revisionist history that
(06:33):
they are trying to implement as policy and law is
that it is the white man that is oppressed in
this country, which is the biggest load of bullshit that
I've ever heard. And she read them for filth because
the audacity is at an all time fucking high. You
had Representative Summerly do exactly the same in talking about
(06:57):
how you have white Republicans men that want to talk
about the qualifications of Justice Katanji Brown Jackson and Vice
President Kamala Harris, two of the most esteemed and distute
black women in leadership positions in this country, as not
(07:17):
being qualified. But you want to turn around and tell
us that a host of Fox News show can be
the Secretary of Defense, right, that somebody that worked as
an executive at the WWE is now equipped to run
the Department of Education. Give me a fucking break. And
so while we have these old time old guards of
(07:41):
the Democratic Party that still believe that there is a
Republican Party to reach across the Aisle two. These women
actually understand that that party is fucking dead, and so
what do we do? How do we rally the people
that stayed home in this last election because you didn't
(08:02):
speak to them. It is far time for the white
old guard who have no progressive ideas, who don't understand
that power has restructured itself right. America is now a
part of the axis of evil, and more young people
(08:25):
are recognizing that truth that took me some decades to
actually get to because I wanted to believe that there
was more that was good about America than that was wrong.
But when you were telling people that it is absolutely
acceptable to decimate an entire population and conduct a genocide
(08:45):
with our tax dollars, and that going forward and allowing
the international courts to do their job is somehow devoid
of legal precedent, you show not only your age but
your ass And you know, folks, I just am tired.
(09:07):
I'm tired of the fifteen Democrats that saw fit to
vote alongside this rabid Republican party with Hr. Nine four
nine five that now will give the President of the
United States full and complete power to delegitimize nonprofit organizations
and label them as terrorist organizations and do with them
(09:29):
as they see fit. Fifteen Democrats voted alongside Republicans to
do this because for whatever reason, they think that it's
just about Gaza and it's not going to be about
everything and anything else. It's not. We know what the desire,
what the goal is, and so it's time for us
to have an actual party with leadership that sees the
(09:53):
writing on the wall, that isn't willing to just capitulate
to the report publican party and not fight for anything
and think that you're going to find common ground with
people that literally want you dead. They have said so,
they have put you up in crosshairs on their websites,
(10:14):
They have called for armed militias to be formed against you.
They refer to you as the enemy of the state.
So when do you think that Democrats will gather themselves
and recognize that these people that they refer to as
their colleagues from across the aisle are not their colleague,
are their combatants, are actually their enemies. And why are
(10:37):
there their enemies Because their enemies of democracy and of
the constitution and of the rule of law. So maybe
if instead of Joe Biden inviting Donald Trump a man
who has disparaged him, his family, his son for the
last ten years into the White House and embraced him
with open arms. Maybe Joe Biden could have used that
(10:59):
time and that oppertun tunity to actually lay out to
the American people what is at stake for them moving forward,
But no, he didn't do that. And so as we
move through the next two months until the Trump regime
takes full force, it is time for us to do
a lot of soul searching and ask ourselves when is
(11:22):
going to be the right time for us to tear
this shit down? Because I gotta be honest with you,
you know, I wanted so deeply for Vice President Kamala
Harris to win. I wanted our future to seem bright
and joyful and possible again. But I realized that clearly
most people need to learn things the hard way. And
(11:44):
while I would prefer not to be a part of
the find out phase of the fuck around, that is
evidently not going to be avoidable. And so what do
we do? How do we gather ourselves in this moment
of deep grief and pain and frustration and anger to
be able to imagine a future that does not actually
(12:06):
include the shumers and the pelosis of the world that
calls for them to step aside, that decides that we
are no longer going to acknowledge that you have any
finger on the pulse at all of what is going on,
because they don't. You can't tell me right that they
have a progressive bone in their body, that they have
(12:30):
any fight left in them. Because we are not just
here in this current place because Republicans are terrible. We're
here because Democrats are ineffective. We're here because of flaccid
leadership at the top. Joe Biden could very well have
(12:50):
appointed an Attorney General of the United States that actually
gave a shit about our constitution and got rid of
Donald Trump for US back in twenty twenty one following
an insurrection and put his foot to the metal and
did what needed to be done so that motherfucker was
never going to be able to run again. And not
only that, but open up investigations to everyone that aided
(13:12):
and abedded an insurrection and the overthrowing of our government.
You know the way that Brazil is doing right now
with their ex president Javier Bosonado, who, alongside thirty six
members of his party, are now facing jail time because
(13:34):
they tried to overthrow the government. Or what about Marie
Le penn Over in France, who is staring down a
possible five year prison sentence for embezzlement for her grift,
Or what about Salvina Over in Italy who is also
facing jail time for his cruelty and his treatment of
(13:56):
immigrants in Italy. You see, it is clear that other
countries that have had a history of dealing with right
wing autocrats have decided not to weaponize their government, but
to actually utilize their government in order to secure their
democracies moving forward and restore faith that may have been
(14:19):
lost over the last several years. America, however, decided to
reinstate the fucking criminal to be president of the United
States because we had an ineffectual attorney general and an
even more flaccid president of the United States. Now, I
will tell you Joe Biden restored our economy. He got
(14:40):
vaccines out and running. That being said, Joe Biden did
not actually face and stare down the biggest threat to
our survival as a country. He wanted to instead turn
the page on it instead of reading the fucking book.
So we find ourselves here because the Biden administration and
(15:00):
to make history by nominating, right by running with the
first black and Asian woman to be Vice President of
the United States, but then go ahead and hide her
from the American people so that they wouldn't actually know
that the vice President of the United States was a
black and Asian woman a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.
(15:20):
So if anybody wants to talk about missteps, it's this
idea that you can keep painting a rotting house and
think that the paint alone is going to make it livable.
I'm in a mode and in a place where it
is time to tear it down. And there will be
(15:40):
lots of pain, and there will be hardship, and as
I continue to say, all of us are not going
to make it to the New world. But it's actually
time that we start dismantling the old. And frankly, at
this point, if that looks like Donald Trump blowing up
our government from the inside out, well then I guess
it will give us a blank pain to work from,
(16:01):
if in fact he doesn't kill us all before then.
But when you look at our Department of Education, when
you look at how the EPA has been gutted year
after year after year, and done so with Democrats as well.
And you wonder why we're jumping up and down right
now in New York because we've had two days of rain,
(16:22):
because we just went through thirty one days of a drought,
or that it was just noted most recently that one
hundred and forty seven thousand children in New York are homeless. Like,
we can actually do better, but it doesn't continually look
like bullshit fucking band aids on top of a dying patient.
(16:43):
So while I don't want to suffer, and I don't
want those that I love to suffer, America chose suffering.
So we're going to have to find the opportunities inside
of the obstacles because this administration is coming in to
bulldoze this country. I've said for far too long, we
have tried to make habitable a cemetery instead of excavating.
(17:06):
We have so much work to do, and it can't
be done with old tools nor old people. And I'm
not being ages. I mean old people in terms of
old thinking, because that is what these folks are offering.
If you are eighty something years old, but your ideas
are fresh and they are bold, then great. But I
can't have people that are operating inside of a twentieth
(17:30):
century issue. They're looking at twenty first century problems with
twentieth century mindset. It's time for a new chapter, a
new book, a new library. It's time for something new,
and that's where I'd rather spend my time than following
the blow by blows of the next Trump regime. I
(17:55):
know that we need to be aware to protect ourselves,
but if we honestly want to see some type of future,
that we got to start looking introspectively now and doing
the hard work. That is it for me today, Dear
friends on wokef as always, power to the people and
(18:17):
to all the people. Power, Get woke and stay woke
as fuck.
