You know, here's my closing remarks. I talk about a
lot of things. I talk about discipline, I talk about faith,
I talk about consistency, I talk about never giving up.
I talk about a wide range of things because it's
all in line with trying to encourage people. Also it

lines up with me sharing what I've learned over the years.
I'm older than most people who listen to this show. Now,
A lot of people are way older than me to
listen to the show, a lot of them. But I'm
in that upper tier and I've learned a lot of
things in my life, and today I want to give

you the absolute most significant things.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Listen to me.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
You are in your own way starting now. If you
have not done so, or it needs to be revitalized,
or you need to get it started, or you need
to just revamp it. You have got to start paying
attention to your relationship with God.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I don't care what nobody tell you.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
The central ingredient to happiness or success is your relationship
with God because it can be a very present help
at all times, and you really need it in times
of trouble, because sometimes, y'all, you just don't have the answer.

I can't tell you how many times when I was homeless,
I was sitting there there and I just put both
hands on the stereo wheel and put my head on
that stering wheler and just say, Lord, I just don't know.

I don't know what to do.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
And I'm telling you, I was trying to think of everything.
But when I finally realized that me doing it myself
wasn't working. When I finally realized that all the teachings
of my mother, who had been a Sunday school teacher
for forty years, when I realized everything she was trying

to tell me about faith and prayer.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I had stopped doing it and.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
I was just sitting there trying to figure it out.
When I got back to praying and talking to God,
it didn't instantly change it, but guess what it did.
It instantly changed my mindset. I suddenly realized I wasn't
by myself. It suddenly dawned on me that now He

(02:52):
is really listening to me.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
And you know what it did, I just felt better.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I just felt better because He gave me a calmness
and a peace, and then he started strengthening me to
give me the strength to endure this test I was under.
And then he started giving me some resolution in my mind.
He started helping me to understand why it was happening,
and I was able to cope with it better. And

then one day I looked up and it was over.
My dream had gotten true. I had got a call
to be on showtime a Defala And little did I
know that that one call right there with skyrocket everything. Now,
it didn't mean that hardship was over, No, it didn't.
It didn't mean that I was problem free. It didn't

(03:41):
mean that I had hit it now and it wasn't
nothing else to deal with Now. It came with a
whole new set of challenge. All right here, we gave
you this TV show. Now, I guess what I looked up.
I didn't have nothing to wear on TV because I
was that backed up with poverty. They gave me showtime
to Apolo, and I didn't have the clothes to go

on the Apollo.

But then you know what God did. He started providing.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
He gave me a friend name Barbara Bates in Chicago.
He gave me a friend name Jabib that owned the
store called Silhouettes.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
In Dallas, Texas.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
He just started giving me friends man that would let
me buy clothes on discount and up front, let me
open up an account until I started making money on
TV and.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
I could pay these people back.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
All because I had formed a relationship with God and
he took the what I didn't know and provided me
with solutions.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
I didn't even know what I was gonna wear on TV.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Man, and he started touching people's hearts and making a
weight when I found when I first got on Showtime
to Apollo, I wasn't wearing suits. I was wearing a
little vest and shirts and stuff. I said, Man, I
got to give me some suits. Barbara Bates started designing
all my suits for showtime at the Apollo.

That girl man changed my life.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Man.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Shout out to Barbara Bates in.

Chicago, beautiful sister Man.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Thank you to harbid Man. Thank you to a partner
of mine.

Man. My first opening gig ever was Frankie Bevey Maids
at the front Row Theater.

I ain't had nothing to work. He gave me two
hundred dollars.

I went to Mayor talking about my outfit to open
for Frankie Beverly and Maids at the front Row Theater.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I looked back, man, when I was thinking of all
the times I didn't have a way, and I look
at how many times God provided away. But that's because
I had opened up my heart to have a relationship
with him. And I'm inviting you all to do the
same thing because God will welcome you with open arms.
God knows he ain't heard from you in a while,
and he okay with that. God is a forgiving god. Man,

don't you let the devil fool you and make you
think since you ain't talked to him in a while,
he ain't gonna listen to you. That's not true. God
is available for you right now. Try it, y'all, get
your relationship together with God. It'll change your whole life.
