When starting as a new Product Manager, it is understandable that there is a desire to skill up quickly but in this episode we see if expensive PM certs are the way to do it?

This is the first ever interview on this channel, and it was an honour to spend an hour with Ken from CPO Association / DCM Ventures. A veteran in the product space having worked on Adobe Photoshop and adapting it to Iphone all the way to how implementing his product skillset to startups and helping them scale in Japan.

We all start somewhere, but especially when you're a newgrad and put straight into product management, there is very much the idea of "fake it till you make it".

In the video I cover other things that have helped for me such as focussing on trying to improve the basics, finding a mentor and being stubborn on what you want to do.

I wanted to take the opportunity to make an argument for books. With the deluge of information that is available to all of us on the internet, I find books are the best way to really sit with information and let it change your perspective.

I love Tokyo, I think it is once of the best cities in the world. As a half-Japanese / Dutch person who grew up in Hong Kong, I have fallen in love with this city.  There is so much to the city such as the dynamism in the wake of the pandemic, the massive investments that huge hedge funds are currently pouring into the city #warrenbuffet and the potential for disruption. This is a love letter to Tokyo

This is a little bit of my story as to how I got my first job in japan. It is challenging to go through the Shukatsu system and to try land a job when you don't speak Japanese and have no work experience. 

I hope my story of how I did it can help someone else find a job especially with all of the turbulence at the moment.

This episode I go through a book that helped motivate me as to why I wanted to start this show. Show your work by Austin Kleon is a book for creatives to motivate them to share their work and the benefit of doing so. We used to live in a time where people were only interested in the final product, but now there is interest in how the work is done.
