Horror slash Sci Fi.

Show from season three. This Sunday debuts nine pm Eastern
MGM Plus. Welcome Harold Parano.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Thank you, thank you for that very nice introduction.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Well, you know, I was looking through your history.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
You've had a really good run with shows that have
one named titles.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
I really have. It's from Lost, Like, yeah, I got it.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
It's all there. So I'm thinking to myself.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Maybe I'm thinking Harold, for the next step of your career,
do it like Share or Madonna.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
I think you should just be Parano.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
Caryl Nice I thought maybe Harold, but you're probably right.
Parano would be a very cool name to just.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Be that dude.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I'll tell you what, if I saw Parano on the Marquis,
I would go to that show.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
I would go to that that musical.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
You're very flattering, all right, So.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Let's go ahead and get down to it.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
I've been on board from the beginning with from how'd
you get the script? How'd you find out about it?
What did you think when you read it?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:11):
I got the script from the casting director is a
friend of ours, and he said he called us up,
me and my wife.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
He said, I've got the script.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I think Harold is the character, the lead character, but
I want to know what he thinks.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
And I read it and I was like, I love this.
He's like, great. The producers are the producers of Lost.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
They don't want to see anybody from Lost, but I'm
going to try to convince them to see you. Okay,
that was weird, but so he went back talked to
them about me. They were like, no, no, we're not
really sure about that. We just don't want there's going
to be enough comparison to Lost.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Let's not do it.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
And then they kept thinking about it, and then we
all got on the phone and it suddenly made sense.
It's like, oh, yeah, wow, you're right, like this is
the right thing to do. And so then we we
went and started doing it. And uh, and my friend the.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Uncle, which was right. The character fit me like a glove.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
You know, you and I are similar ages and I
have three daughters as well.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Oh wow, person, maybe welcome.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
To the club, right, Yeah, dude, I'll tell you what
daughters or something.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
But that's a whole other podcast.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
One.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
I'm willing to talk to you about because I need somebody.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Oh that is so funny.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
So we have much more social media today than we
did when Lost was out. How do you compare the
audience reaction from Lost to from because I follow you
guys on social media and everybody talking about from out there.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
When we did Lost, and we thought it was pretty immediate,
then people would go into the chat rooms you know,
whatever these spaces were, and they would talk about, you know,
the show and come up with theories and we were like, wow, wow,
people respond so quickly.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
I didn't realize this was coming.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
And this is really, really, really bad. Like literally you
say a word, people are like, I can't believe that
he just said.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Both nap. So that's really what it is.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
But it gets lots more people talking and it actually
actually opens up a space.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
So like even if you're not as big a.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Show as Lost was, Like you know, at the time,
there were just a couple of networks and now there
are so many choices, but it gives you a chance
to really, in a personal way, create a real family.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
That's why we have.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Like this family and so I can communicate with them,
they can communicate with me.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
We can really create, which is really really fun.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
You can really create a connection between the audience and
the creative people making the show, and it makes it
a lot of fun. It makes it really feel like
an interesting community.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Oh yeah, it's wonderful. Harold Parano is with us from
season three debut Sunday night, nine o'clock Eastern MGM Plus. Now, Harold,
you're a New York guy. Are you full time California?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Now?
Speaker 3 (04:07):
I am.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
I've been in California for a number of years now,
but I am still a New Yorker at heart, and
so my wife and I are always talking about maybe
moving back. We're always longing to do it, but you know,
the girls are in school, so we got to finish
and can't take them away from their friends.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
No, that's right.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
I mean, I grew up in Chicago, and I've always
said I love to visit rural America, but I'd rather
live in the big city. That's just kind of how
I look at it. I'm curious, though, where are your
sports allegiances lie? Are you Jets and Giants or Rams
and Chargers? How does that work for you?
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I'm going to tell you something that's really going to
be disappointed. I, as a kid, was a terrible athlete,
and so I try to ignore that any of that
even exist.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I can tell you this as a Chicago Bears lifelong fan,
you're better off for not rooting.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
For a football team. They're killing me. They're killing me, Harold.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
I'm sorry, my friend.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
All right, So let's go to this a couple other
things before we go. I have a bone to pick
with you because you're actually five years older than me,
but I look like I could be your father.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
So how does one stay so youthful?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
I would have sworn to God you were forty five
and you're sixty one.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I gotta tell you my secret is a little product
called just for men like I am. Five minutes colors
the gray you look younger, That's what we do. Gotta
find the white color that it doesn't look like you
have crayon on your face.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
There you go, That's what I do.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
You know. One of the most comical things.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I'm sure you've seen a lot in Hollywood and Broadway
and stuff like that, but one of the funniest things
was watching Mayor Juliani's hair dye rolled out on the
side of his face.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
It was like, oh, I don't know what you put
on today, but you should talk.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
To your make it bars.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Come on man, for men, it doesn't rip.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
All right.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
And then one final thing, and I tip my hat
to you, because when you're married in Hollywood, it's kind
of like dog years. You've been married twenty but it's
really like one hundred and forty in dog years.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
So how'd you do it?
Speaker 3 (06:22):
It's the safest place to be.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
You want to just I want to be like married
to my wife, and I don't want to have any
other choices. Hollywood is a place about whatever's hot and
new this, you know.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Like I'd like to roll with my people and.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
So get my wife, I got my kids, and we're
we're we're the crew that's going to stay together forever.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
So that's where it goes to me.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Dude, I love that, And you know my wife, My
wife and I are about to celebrate our thirty first
anniversary and uh what yeah, awesome thirty one and nope,
I have three daughters twenty six, twenty four to twenty one.
You're the first professional associate that is going to find
this out. But my wife and I found out we're
going to be grand parents for the first time.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Congratulations.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
That's amazing. Thanks, that's amazing.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
That's congratulations. I don't have any grandkids. My brothers actually do,
and so they're so excited with.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Congratulations man to you and your entire family. That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Well, I love to hear about your family as well.
It's hard to find anymore. People don't stay together that
long anymore, so good luck with your three daughters. Remember
to just give them money for a down payment on
a home and then have a party at the VFW
and Malibu or wherever the hell you live.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Exactly right.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Thanks, I'll take that advice.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
