Speaker 2 (00:25):
So I got my little like flair.

You guys will say you have an.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
We don't have any. Yes, But my buddy.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Who's it's funny because he's Jewish, and he was like,
you know what that's called, right? And I was like, no,
it's till Day. And I found this out like two
years ago.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
He said it's called till day.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Till day.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
I've never heard that, And then I typed it up
and it was true. I didn't believe him.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
I was gonna say, I'm gonna google it just a
fact check, but a few googled it already.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Then yeah, you run your course.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
I had to.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Well, David Castaneda, welcome to Philly. Thank you, thanks for
having fresh off the plane from l A. Okay a
few hours okay, and you're you've slept.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
A little bit, okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
We love that. And you came from the premiere of
the Umbrella Academy.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, how'd you feel overwhelmed?
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I mean it was almost like when you have that
much productions and you know, friends and family and castmates
and fans, it's almost like you everything.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Just goes like, right, you see all together?
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, and it's all tunnelvision. You can't see on the
sites because you just want to be focused on people
in front of you. So people can be yelling, screaming
your name, wanting you to sign something, but you're also
wanting to, you know, have a conversation with the person
in front of you. Right, Yeah, overstimulating, overstimulating one hundred percent,
but a it was you know, well deserved, will deserve
for everyone else to celebrate this ending.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I've always wanted to ending. We'll get to that. I'm
so depressed, but I've always wanted to know the premiere
of these movies shows. And you've been an.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Actor for how long now over ten years? Yeah, so
you've you've been to quite a few of those. I
always want to know, is the premiere the first time
that any actor is seeing the movie or the show
come to life, like for the first time, they send
it to you, like in advance.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
For this show, we got them in advance.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Okay, cool.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
But for some films, usually the first time you see
as at the premiere.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
I would be so nervous. I'd be like, how did
you cut me in this?
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah? Or did I even make the movie?
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (02:16):
My god? Is that?
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Is that a question in a lot of actors' minds At.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
A lot of times, if you're not the lead, you know,
you're obviously coming into being like, okay, have I been cut?
Are my scenes gone? Because once you you know, writing
the script is one thing, performing it is another thing.
So it's sort of the story in itself takes a
new shape, and then editing it is another phase. So
by the time whatever they shot, they get to post production,
(02:41):
which is in the editing phase, they'll see like, oh, actually,
this storyline doesn't work. So I've had friends of mine
who will go to premiers and they find out that
they're not in the movie while watching the premiere.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Oh no, I would I would have to take myself out.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
Oh I can't imagine. I you know, knock on wood.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
I haven't experienced that yet, but man, it happens to everyone.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, it happens.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
I mean, as long as you get the paycheck, you're
in the clear.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
You know what, And as long as you know, as
long as I hadn't promote it being like I'm in
this movie and.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Then like yeah, god forbid, Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Okay, well, let's talk about the umbrella effect or the
umbrella effects. Sorry for I'm having to die, Let's talk
about it for a second. You guys at The Umbrella
Academy is in its fourth season and you said final season.
So people who have been following along for so long,
I'm sure are depressed about it, but also super excited
to see how this all comes to a close. Yes,
So for people that haven't started it yet, there's you
(03:33):
have a day to catch up. Tell us a little
bit about the premise of The Umbrella Academy.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
So it's sort of number one. I will say that
you had maybe like a Freudian slip because umbrella the
umbrella effects is a word. It is in the season
four things. Okay, okay, good. So I was like, oh
my god, this is your sort of I'm trying not to.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Give anything away, and I'm like, stop it right right.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
So the thing about the show is it begins when
forty three women are sort of they have an immaculate conception.
They become pregnant and they don't know why, and they
have these babies, and this philanthropist, think of like a
very rich billionaire Jeff bezos kind, you know, he sort
of decides to find as many of them, and he
(04:16):
finds seven. Knowing that these siblings or these kids are
going to have extra special powers, right, he raises seven
of them up until they're Boss fifteen sixteen to become
a group of superheroes, and they become very famous, and
by the time they hit their puberty, they all rebel
(04:37):
against them and they sort of everyone goes their own
separate ways.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Now the show picks up. The first season is when
the father.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Dies and the adopted father.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
The adopted father dies and all seven have to come
back for a funeral.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
But now they're thirty.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Oh wow, and so they are sort of you know,
they've been living in the real world. They've had separate lives,
and they're all have this one thing in common, which
is a terrible father that's created.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Trauma for them.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Oh okay, and that's where you see the story begin.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
And okay, so then this takes us to season four, yes,
where you guys are all coming together once again, and
without giving any plots away, what can you tell the
audience to look forward to with the season finale?
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Well, I think that they're in.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Anyone that's seen the show already, it's going to get
a lot of what they love, which is the sibling dynamic,
the jokes, the weirdness of it, the epicness of it,
and the twists and turns that I think keeps a
lot of fans engaged.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I love it, and.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Also the fact that sometimes you're a little bit confused, yeah,
like what is happening?
Speaker 4 (05:40):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (05:41):
But somehow the dynamics keep you engaged enough to see
the payoff at the end.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
And each character obviously has a different personality and a
different contribution to the Umbrella Academy. With that said, I'm
curious because I was as I was like kind of
watching the trailers and catching myself up here. You brought
up a good point, like an immaculate conception. I pick
up so many and I don't know the proper actor
term for this, but you know, when there's different, it's
very much sci fi, but it also incorporates a lot
(06:08):
of reality, like you mentioned like Jeff Bezos or like
your character specifically is trying to divert a presidential assassination. Yes, so,
like there's a lot of very current things happening, but
it is also like a science fiction esque vibe. But
you also have things like biblical like the Immaculate Conception.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
And then I also have like a little bit of
like the Truman.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Show effect in this thing. You guys are kind of
living in this like reality that's not reality. Yeah, so
there's a lot of different helmet out here.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
You know what I'm trying to say, There's a lot
of elements that make up that make our show very relatable.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yes, thank you.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to get at. So, I mean,
like it kind of it's but it's a story in
and of itself, but it gives a weird sense of like,
oh this feels familiar. Oh this feels familiar. So it's
it's easy to follow along in that sense, at least for.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Me when I was watching.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Yeah, well, I think what the show keeps people believing
the whole premise is the sibling dynamic and how each
character is so different that an audience member can relate
to one or two or three, and it keeps it
believable because when we were coming into it, you know,
(07:13):
you know Pogo who's a talking monkey, and you know
the dad is maybe not from this world and all
these powers in the world that they live in. It's
there's no phones in this world.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
So what a world to live in? Yeah, jealous, I.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Know me too.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
And so for us to come in, we just wanted
to make sure that we were representing humans. Yeah, and
through that everything the writer's brought to us, the zonkiness
of it felt believable.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Wow, very cool.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Okay, So I'm trying to figure out how to say
this without giving anything away because it doesn't err on
Netflix until tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Yeah, in a few hours.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Oh right, Pacific time?
Speaker 4 (07:51):
Right three am?
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Oh boy a Philly Time. Okay, get you.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
You know you're not I know myf were you from?
Originally I was born in La but I was raised
in Mexico.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Get out of here. Okay, well you know you're Philly Time.
Look at you. You're a totally unfamiliar coast.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
I'm a world traveler.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
I love that for you. Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Well, with that being said, we are so excited for
The Umbrella Academy to release on Netflix in six hours.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
You said, see, I don't even know where I am.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I don't even know either, but pretty much by the
time you wake up, think of it like a Christmas gift.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Can you wake up? All six episodes will.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Be on Christmas in July, but it's August. I don't
even know what year it is. But anyway, we are
so excited to have you here. Do you my final question,
without giving anything away, do you feel as though your
Umbrella Academy audience is going to feel fulfilled by the
end of the last episode of season four as it
gets released this week?
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Or is it gonna want them to have more?
Speaker 4 (08:41):
I think it's good. They're gonna want to have more.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
But they're not going to get more.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
No, they're not gonna get more. But that's what you want.
You don't want to overstay, You're welcome.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
You know, you much of a good thing?
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Too much of a good thing?
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Okay, I know, like something sort of it's they're better
off finishing off without any sort of question of if
they're coming back.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Okay, you know what. I appreciate that. So now going
into this as we watch season four go in with
the mentality that you're not gonna get more, but you're
gonna want more. Yes, at least you don't have to
have that cliffhanger of like, oh, but will there be
because now we don't know, there's not.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
No, there's not, there's not. But also Netflix call.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Me yeah right, I was just gonna say, like, is
there does everyone in the cast kind of like are
they hopeful?
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Yeah, you guys will reconvene in your fiftees.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Some people will be like, oh, you know, one more Yeah, yeah,
but yeah, I don't think.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
I mean, we'll see if it pops off on Netflix.
I mean, you can't deny the people.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
Yeah, you can't deny what they want.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
True.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Well, we are so happy to have you.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Thank you for making the track from coast to coast
to be here in Philly, and we cannot wait to
see the Umbella Academy pop off.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Thank you, of course,
