Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Why shout out, there's always a reason to feel good
on a Friday morning. Why because it's Friday and you've
made it this far, get through today, and the weekend
is here, And that's why I'm feeling good this morning, Chili.
But I think you're probably feeling good for other reasons altogether.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
You know, in since nineteen ninety six, I've been driving
to this area from Tyson's Corner for work, and this
is the first time I have been part of a
beltway shut down, not for construction, but for a tractor
trailer accident. And I'm grateful that I was able to
make it in time to get ready for the show
this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
So, yeah, I saw your text this morning, and I
go I thought about responding with something quip and funny,
but then I said, no, let's just let that go,
Just just let her do her thing.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
I was giving a heads up to both producer Taylor
Shay and to Toby because I honestly didn't it are
even an hour and they were saying that they had
no eta on when they'd reopen the lanes, and I
was stuck. I couldn't go anywhere, and I was like, hey,
you may have to start without me. Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, it seems crazy that I would still be
here three or four hours, But you never know around

(01:15):
the DC area, no, you never know. No, but no,
I gotta know.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Between ninety five, the Beltway, the construction at the Legion Bridge,
the moving construction zones and whatnot, you could encounter anything
at any given time. And then you throw an accident
into the mix and it takes everything in mix. It
just go sideways. So I'm glad you're here too, because
it's Friday. You've made it, and yes, you know, we
would have carried on until you showed up, but you know,

(01:42):
it is what it is, and I'm glad that you've
made it through. And hopefully you're not stuck in anything
that's residual, because I did hear that. It's still a
situation and you're moving slow and it's probably gonna take
you about an hour. So if you've got to come
to the Moco side of the Legion Bridge from over Tyson's,
you might want to get going earlier rather than later,

(02:03):
you know. Yeah, anyway, there's always reason to feel good.
It's Friday. Why are you feeling all right today? Eight
sixty six nineteen seven forty three sixty one. That is
the number we've got. The news coming up. Top Stories

And since today starts a best of the eighties weekend,
we'll keep in that theme because there there's real power
and lyrics.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Everybody wants to rule the world. Tears for Fears. It's
a song from the eighties. You might have heard it before,
No doubt you'll hear it probably this weekend here on
ninety seven point one WASHFM. So what does that mean
to you? Well, it means that everyone wants to shape
the world around them right. But true strength comes from
mastering your own world. First, take charge of your choices today,

(05:25):
because the real power lies in how you respond to
life's challenges. Everybody wants to rule the world. Tears for Fears.
It's more than a song, it's a mantra for life.
How are you going to respond to what life brings
your way? Start by taking charge of what you choose
to do. That's your morning mindset for this Friday. If

(05:47):
it helped, you can find it and share it with
somebody who might need it. Till we get chilipage to

in Waldorf is calling. It's called this this morning and
she wants to share.

Speaker 2 (06:15):

did your kids learn during take your Kids to Work Day?

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Yesterday?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
It's ninety seven point one watch FM Toby and Chilly
in the Morning. We were talking about this yesterday. Tara
from Waldorf I understand your daughter learned something pretty fascinating
about mom.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
This was years ago when my daughter was either in
eighth grade or freshman year of high school. I can't
remember exactly which, but I took her to work because
she begged me, and there wasn't a whole lot at
work that I could show her that because of safety
reasons or you know, other hazards. So I was taking
around to some of the things that I could, and

(06:54):
one was a sewage treatment plant. So she was interested
in science and chemistry, so I was like, okay. I
arranged for one of the plants engineers to walk her
through the whole process, what things, you know, what happened
and where, and I thought, oh, this is cool, she'll
really like it. But I also had a lot of
meetings that day that she ended up tagging along with
me too. And at the end of the day I

(07:15):
asked her, I said, so, what did you think it about?
Did you like the you know, going through the plant
and everything, And she goes, Mom, you talk a lot
at work.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
That's what you got out of My daughter is.

Speaker 5 (07:25):
Stilled my job. Okay, I talk a lot.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Wow, that's all that And that's all she got from
it that mom talks a lot at work.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Yes, sounds like she had a very insightful day your daughter.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
Now, when everybody asked me what do I do for
a living, I said, I talk.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Apparently ironically, that's exactly what Toby and I truly do
every day. We just talk. We just talk at work
and I love you guys.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Well, we love you too, Tara.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Thank you for calling this morning to tell us a
story about to take your kids to work day from
your own personal life.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
And for the record, we don't think that's all you
do at work.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Tarah, Toby and Chilly in the morning.

(08:31):
to enhancing bus services. Plans include increasing bus frequency, adding
more bus only lanes, and also launching a redesigned bus

(08:53):

they would want for it to be. Well, we'll tell
you just in case you missed it. And then Nikki

Maryland the overwhelming answer, who has potatoes and in Virginia pasta?

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Well, I mean, I guess Virginia is not that far away.
If I had to have a last meal, it wouldn't
be potatoes, although I do like potatoes, but not for
the last meal.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Well, Chili and I had a very robust conversation about it.
You can hear the conversation on the Toby and chilipage
at waschfm dot com when you check out our podcast.
But Nikki left us a talkback message. It's real easy
for you to use talkback if you have your iHeartRadio
app and you're signed in, it's free. You just tap
the microphone and you speak out. Here's what she had
to say about her last meal.

Speaker 5 (11:34):
My last meal would probably be a steak that's well done,
smothered in salt, haid, mushrooms and onions with shrimp scampy
on the side.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
That sounds really good right.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Now, smothered my well done goodness? Wow?

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, not even mooning. You want that steak cooked well? Nikki,
Thank you for a chiming in via talkback to let
us know what you would want your last meal to be.
And by the way, anything is better than potatoes.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Unless they're mashed. Well yeah, no, the potatoes would go
well with the stage.

Did you hear about this? Fairfax County Middle School. They're
having a ride up situation. Kids getting written up big
time for a great reason. The reason will make you
feel good on a Friday. We'll tell you this story
that'll bring you all the fields coming up in just minutes.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Stay there, it's next. It's Friday morning, and.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Around here we feel like maybe you need to feel
all the fields. That's why we've got your feel good
Friday story right now from Kilmer Middle School in Vienna, Virginia,
home of Chiliam Arm.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
That's right. They've come up a very creative and impactful
way to celebrate students' good behaviors.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
It's ninety seven point one. Watch FM Toby and Chilia
in the morning. The kids are getting written up for
being positive. That's why they call it the Positive Referral Program.
They don't focus on bad ride ups. They focus on
the good ones, students who demonstrate kindness, who are helpful,
who are good citizens. At Kilmer Middle School, these positive

(17:36):
actions don't go unnoticed.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
So when a student receives one of these positive referrals,
their achievement is then written on a very colorful card
and it's displayed on the cafeteria windows for the entire
school to see it's a way to be publicly recognized
for their good behavior.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
And it's been a huge success. Over fourteen hundred positive
referrals have been handed out so far since the beginning
of the program.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Oh yeah, and here's what their principal, Stephen McFarlane has
to say. Words and actions matter.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
If we're able to take that time to just pat
someone on the back to say you're doing the right thing,
that's going to pay dividends more than we can ever quantify.
And those dividends are fabulous. Thank you, mister principal, and
thank you for this program that has made a difference
at the school. It's the kind of story that makes
us feel good on a Friday. That's why we wanted
to share.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
And you can find out more about that or share
your own feel good story with us on the Toby

simplify it, Toby, I didn't love the way he was
talking to her during our group date, and to me,
that's a red flag, and if she ignores it, that
could be problematic. Of course, it's her business whether she

Speaker 6 (19:29):
Right.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Can you think of a time ever in your personal

Speaker 2 (19:35):
More often than not, I've been the red flag and
I'm thankful that these other people have ignored them.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Oh wow, I have a wall full.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Of red flags, Chili, and I'm glad people ignore them

Speaker 6 (20:02):
You know, to say that the apple doesn't fall too
fall from the tree. The mom of a girl I
was dating.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
That was very aggressive and low and up said a lot.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
And if I had taken that rire flag and left
that person, I would have left the love of my
life at the time.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Ricky, thank you this morning.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
That's good advice, because I would not want my son's
future spouse to judge him based on Mike crazy.

You shouldn't judge another by the mother. That's right, that's right.
