Speaker 1 (00:04):
Welcome to NFL Daily, where we're trying to ignore that
draft buzz, but it's hard out here.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
I'm excited. We're only two days away from the NFL Draft.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
I'm here in my garage in front of a painting
of my dead turtle rest in peace, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Joined across the country. Bye. My friend Josh Norris of Underdog.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
We've had him on for years back with the Around
the NFL podcast from Brooklyn, doing great work with Underdog course,
working with Dan and Mark over there and putting out
a lot of great YouTube content. Josh, I've been enjoying
all your videos. Are you Are you ready for this draft?
Have you crammed enough?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Nope? I am not.
Speaker 4 (00:46):
You and I were talking about this that you know,
I could go on for another three weeks, and Daniel
Jeremiah just put out a prospect at one twenty three
overall that I've never even heard of, so I'm not
going to get a single look at him. But here
I am sitting in my draft dungeon, and I'm the
opposite of you. Give me all the buzz, give me
all the dms. Yeah, give me all the rumors that
you want. My messages are open. I wanted all fans.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Okay, you can do that, and you could have actionable
things that you take away from it with your mock drafts,
which you famously had the best one in the country
a few years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Just ever, ever, not just the country, ever ever.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
With gambling, you know, underdog and whatever you want to do,
whatever is going on, I'm not allowed to do all that.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
That all makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
But what I would caution is, I feel like you
need to be someone like Josh or you know, to
pat myself on the back of someone like myself who
has all day to be going through this and sifting
through kind of the connections and the what's a coincidence,
what you can and can't trust, what, what are some
things that are collating, what you can just throw out and.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Totally who has time for that?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
For the most part, I think if you completely ignored
what was going on from Monday, let's say morning throughout
Wednesday night, you might be fine. You might be fine
with that, you might be fine Thursday. It starts coming in.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Two thoughts.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
One, I hear a lot of people this week, especially
say all of the news that comes out as just
smoke screens. Now I almost want to do a one
to eighty from that, I think it's the opposite because
the last two weeks are when, as you know, the
scouts come in for all these meetings. Then they get
the medical information and take guys off the board, and
then I think the most dangerous thing for these front
(02:27):
offices are these scouts having the information of knowing how
the board is stacked, and then another five six days
waiting until unleash that until the NFL draft they have
to tell someone they have all this stuff. And so
I think some of this that does get leaked actually
does come true, and that's you know, what we kind
of try to do is sift through that and find
the gold.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yes, but there are also consensus opinions that form, like
Will levis going, you know top three that lasted until
Wednesdays ridiculous, you know what I mean, where where it's
hard to get to know. And we're gonna we're going
to piece through some of that. We'd be here all
day if we tried to go through everything that's out there,
but we will go through a couple of little items
(03:08):
that I'll throw at you later in the show. And
what you think, I also just want to get a
couple names from you where you're a little further high
or low on a player than consensus. Later, I feel
like I've almost given out my all my like draft opinions.
If you go back in NFL daily, they're out there.
I don't know if I have anymore. But first we're
(03:29):
going to talk about potential trade candidates. This is this
show I've wanted to do the whole time, and we
hadn't gotten to it yet. And Josh, I usually have
you on for your your draft nuggets and your tape
watching expertise.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
You do a great job, but this you know you're
from road A World. You graduated. How many years ago
did you go away from Gosh?
Speaker 4 (03:48):
I was probably there for eight years, so even was
the twenty nineteen so twenty nineteen, twenty twenty ish.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
A lot of successful graduates from from road A World
and Double Major. We we like to focus on the
pro side when we were back there and like what
kind of pro trades are going to happen, So we
will do that.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
I do want to remind.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Our listeners, tell them really for the first time about
our draft covered Zoe this year, because we hadn't given
the details that on draft night we will be going
live after the first round is over, so we will
send out a link for that.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
You can save it.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
You can join me, you can join Patrick Claybon, you
can join Steve Weisch heavy hitters on Draft Night, and
we'll be doing draft shows obviously throughout the week after
after Friday Night as well.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
We're not gonna be live Friday night.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I don't believe.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
What's up, Gosh, Greg, I hate to say this, and
I want to know this. You and I will be
Draft Night competitors then, because we will also be going
live right after round one. I think we're the only
two shows that aren't doing livestreams during and then stead after,
and so I'm glad that you were my foe in
that regard.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
You know, you can watch us live and you can
catch Josh the next day or the opposite.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
It will still be there.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
All right, let's go through and let's organize these potential
trades by most likely to be traded on Draft Day,
because I don't want to waste our listener's time here,
and so we'll start with the ones we think are
most likely.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'll let you get going. We'll just go back and
forth here.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Oh, and you know these trades are important because you know,
Randy Moss was traded during the NFL Draft, and then
a couple of years ago we had you know, DeAndre
Swift move from the lines of the Philtoph Eagles. So
these things happen, and usually they're quite bargains, and oftentimes
it's directly correlated to a new rookie selected at the
same position. So the name I'm going to suggest first
(05:35):
is Kevon Thibodeau of the New York Giants, Okay, with
Abdul Carter most likely being the number three selection here
for the Giants. I know that local media fan base
have you know, brought back the days of Michael Strahan
and Ocu Maneura and Justin Tuck and Matthias Kiwanuka. I
think there's a big difference between those massive bodies that
(05:58):
could play from a whole different alignment and a whole
bunch of different positions than all the guys of the
Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, Kveon Thibodeaux body types where they
are best as true edge rushers. And so if you're
going to move forward with two heavy investments of Burns
and Abdul Carter, that one of these guys is going
to get left out who is nearing the end of
(06:19):
his rookie deal. So I think Kaveon Thibodeau has a
high likelihood of getting moved this weekend.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Okay, so you went right off the bat with speculative.
I'm going more with just guys that have said they
wanted to be traded off the bat. But I like
that because I think it's smart. I do think the
fifth year option timing puts a certain sort of pressure
on a certain sort of player this weekend. There's another
one I'll bring up later where teams and they haven't
(06:45):
said what they're going to do with Kaveon Thibodeau's fifth
year option. They have to make a decision on that
by May first. So the timing on that is perfect
for a team not only that would want to trade
Thibodeau like the Giants. Okay, now we have Carter, he
doesn't make sense, but a team that would want to
trade for him because I think they would have him
under contract for two years, they would certainly pick up
(07:06):
that fifth year option. You would think if they're going
to trade for him, He's been a solid starter, probably
hasn't lived up to where they wanted him to be.
He is a Joe Shane draft pick, so that that
makes it less likely.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
To me that he'd be giving up on his own guy.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
But I could totally see that, and I think there's
a handful of players like that where if a guy
gets drafted, then they might trade the other guy at
the position.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
And you know, you remember that team because they beat
up on your Patriots of all those different pass rushers
that they moved all around, and I'm seeing that with
mentioned you know, the abdu car selection at three. I
just think you don't have a justin Tuck of that
group that can play inside in pass rushing situations. So like,
you have to make room for this guy to play
seventy eighty percent of the snaps. And if Kevon Thibodau
(07:49):
is that guy, then isn't it best to maybe get
I don't know, a fourth round pick, a fifth round
pick for him.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Man, if that's all you're getting, I don't think they
would trade trade him two or two years troll.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
For kve On Caveon.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, maybe like a late compensitive best friend or yes, uh,
Kate Keveon back back in the day, great great multi
time guest of the Around the NFL podcast, although I
was not there uh for the famously for the second one,
but I okay, I could see that happening. I also
worry with the Giants, like, are they thinking at all
about the future when when Joe sr and Brian Dables
(08:23):
are are there? Uh, I'll go most likely, I'm just
going Jalen Ramsey. I just think when he made that
trade request and they said it was mutual, and listening
to Chris Greer, a belieguered Chris Greer by the way
that the GM of the Dolphins never has a guy
given off more I'm probably not long for this job
(08:45):
vibes than Chris Greer at his pre draft press conference.
I've thrown it out there a couple of times this
offseason that like, if there was one GM that gets
the post draft firing, Chris Greer would would be my
pick for that.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
And it seems like they're on the same page here.
Jayan Ramsey wants out.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I'm not sure if the Dolphins were totally thrilled with
him either, and so I think he's almost definitely gone.
And I think the Raiders and the Falcons, who have
been reported to be two teams that are interested make
all the sense in the world to me, one of
the two, and that he had spoken Jordan Rodriguez the
Athletic and Our show and he had the call.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Has mentioned that he's talked to Raheem Morris.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
About possibly moving to safety in the past, So that
makes a lot of sense to me. But the Raiders,
the Raiders could get in some of these players.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
You and I even exchanged texts on you know, these
draft press conferences, both pre imposed. I think it's from
my Runer Rold days that we actually enjoy those because
to me, you can take a lot from them, not
just of what they say, but who was saying it
and the body language of the person next to them
at the desk. I'm right there with you with Chris Careers.
It's a really weird Dolphins situation here and it's there. Yeah,
(09:53):
terrible is another word for that, And I don't know
if like the root of that from just a player
standpoint is, and tell me if I'm off base and
you disagree, is that they know if their quarterback takes
one terrible hit, then their season is basically over. And
on top of that, this team has not invested a
lot in the offensive line over the last two years,
(10:14):
So are those hits more likely? And if that's the case,
then once again, the season just is kind of pointless
beyond that. But then it's just seems like a whole
bunch of characters and maybe not enough leaders. And when
Chris Green was asked about that, he did not have
a great answer, and he vote Tyreek Hill's name, the
guy who literally quit on his team at the end
of last year.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Right, and who might not be on the team this year. Yeah,
they asked him, and he I forget who. He threw
out quickly, as is one name for a leader, and
then he was just struggling to come up with other
names he did not throw out to And I'm with you.
It seems like does a collection of guys that have
been brought together and sometimes it works. Their free agency
class last year was really good, but it's just.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Like each great defensive coaching.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I think they're just like adding guys and they don't
necessarily fit. No one seems particularly happy there. It seems
like they are less than the sum of their parts.
All right, give me another one another trade?
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Can I'll go with another name that's being rumored to move,
that has yet to move, and that's Dallas Goddard.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
I think that this team has kind of not maxed
out on the contracts that they can give, but they
kind of understand what the allocation is for certain spots
that they are willing to give money to. And if
Dallas Goddard, who I actually think is one of the
more complete tight ends in the league and can go
to a whole bunch of situations and really help them,
but we've seen him miss time here or there, and
(11:39):
I think that now in this draft class at the
tight end position, maybe we talked about this a bit
later on, and I'm sure you already have is just
fantastic and a whole bunch of different types, that maybe
this is the year that they reset at that position
and just move off of a near thirty year old
Dallas Goddard and go after one of these twenty two
to twenty three year olds in round one a round two.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Yep, I think he could get replaced by It could
be Mason Taylor at thirty two, who has been compared,
but it could be someone else in the second round
or the third round. Either way, the way they've talked
about God It has been weird from the beginning. Bo
Wolf I had on two days after the Super Bowl
from phl Y and he thought Goddar based on and
he's not just throwing this out there. He talks to
(12:19):
people there. He thought, God, it was probably a Gonner
this offseason. And he was the first person I heard
say anything like that. And I think the Colts would
would make a lot of sense for obvious reasons.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
They need a tight end.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Shane Stiken is there, and if you are willing to
take on his contract, you're not going to get.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Much for Dallas Goddard right now.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I you know, whatever it is, some move up to
the third round or fourth round or something like that,
but you have to give a pick back.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
I think something like.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
That could happen. Can I throw another team at you?
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (12:48):
And it's it's the Patriots, Like I don't think Josh
McDaniels is going to be able to resist this Tiden
class in any way, shape or form. You know, you've
heard me tell the story before when I was with
the then Saint was Rams in their twenty eleven draft room.
He literally walked in the door in round two and
Billy Devanni, who was a GM at the time said
(13:09):
we're taking Lance Kendricks because he wanted Josh Matanos. I
think lone season as the offensive coordinator that year, wanted
to turn Lance Kendricks and Michael Jjo Manawanui into his
new version of Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski. And we've
seen him at basically every single stop invest in the
tight end spot. And now they really haven't this offseason.
(13:31):
Like I still think Hunter Henry has game left in
him and Austin Hooper is the vetan that they resigned.
But I think at the very least we get one
tight end investment coming up this week for the New
England Patriot.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Yeah, I agree, it just seems more likely that it
would be it's a young guy pick, but you're right,
it could be they'd be a draft pick to bring
in with Henry. They did resign Austin Hooper and not
the Austin Hooper or Hunter Henry I think is going
to change their draft.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Didn't They doubled dip a couple of years ago too.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
It was like Dalton Keene and whoever the u CLA
Titan was as well, like round three, you know what
I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
The Belichick last draft classes, like the last three.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Here, they all blurred together.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
They were rough, and they did not work out. But
you're right, they double dipped and didn't get anything out
of it. But a lot of cursed images and names
you just brought up there, Billy Devanny, Saint Louis Rams,
Josh McDaniels with the Saint Louis Rams not great.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
That was the Austin Pettis and Greg Salas draft as well.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
There's a whole bunch of stories I'll go into another time.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Man.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
So I only had four players that I wrote down
that I thought were more likely than not to be traded,
like more than fifty percent. God it was one of them.
He was the fourth of my list. JayR Alexander. We
just have kind of forgotten about him. Rob Demowski of
ESPN was on a show this morning and said that
ninety nine point five percent certainty he had that Gyre
(14:52):
Alexander is not going to be on this team, that
they have no interest in having him, that it's gotten
dragged out way longer than anyone expected, but that he's
not going to be on this team. So it's I
don't have any logical landing spots. For him, but he's
in a boom er bust type of pickup for some
team out there that I think they could get at
least a pick swap, but the contract complicates thing like
(15:14):
like a very late pickswap at worst, and if not,
it sounds like he's just gonna get caught after the
draft is over. So Gyr Alexander is another one.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
I mean, the Gyr Alexander story arc has been fascinating.
I mean, a couple of years ago he was kind
of mentioned, I'm not going to say to the same
degree that Patrick Sartan was this past year, but he
was up there as one of the best young corners
in the league. And it's just like falling completely flat.
Been some really odd on field stuff where he like
stepped up as a team captain when he wasn't directed
(15:43):
to be a team captain.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
I think right.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
He's also he's not young anymore now like age age quick.
It's already such an up and down position that like,
I do not think of him as a young player.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
And we'll see, but he's a good player that should
be traded.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Who else he got, I mean mine might be a
bit further down the line than the nears because I
had another replaceable player, and that's a Travis Etn of
the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm glad because I don't even know
if this has to be an ash and gent selection
at number five overall for Jacksonville to make this work.
But whoever lands with Liam Cohen in that running game
(16:21):
is going to produce yards and touchdowns and be high
up there in terms of fantasy upside. And I just
think at this point Travis Etn is just a volume
sponge and kind of a plotter, and that's about it.
He was billed as this big play artist coming out
of Clemson with Trevor Lawrence. I think injuries have kind
(16:41):
of taken that away. That was apparent to me in
the first game of last year when Tank Bigsby just
looked far more explosive. And Tank Bigsby's a very incomplete player, definitely,
But I just think that Liam Cohen, as soon as
he turned on the tape, is like, Okay, we can
use some of what Tank Bigsby has here if anyone
offers us anything for Travis Etn where we know we're
(17:04):
going to replace him as the one A in this backfield.
And so we'll try to recoup whatever assets we can there.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Okay, let's have our Genty conversation now, because I think
that wherever Genty goes could make a candidate to be traded.
Wherever he goes, I haven't totally mentally crossed out the
Patriots just taking him at four and then Remandri's available
the Jaguars at five. I just did the forties and
free agents with Daniel Jeremiah on Monday, and Genty to
(17:32):
the jag seems to be something that more people. It's
the book inside the league thinks possible. And if they're
thinking about gent there, yeah, Etn, they'll probably be thinking
about a running back in the second round two if
if they don't end up with Genty and Etn could leave.
You also heard some like, hey, bris Hall is not
necessarily the Jets new staffs cup of tea or that
(17:56):
just they're going to look for their own guys, and
so if Genti falls to seven and goes to the
that's pre Saul could be another guy. And then around
all this is the gent Raiders combination, which has been
so talked about for a month among smart people that
this was the week where I started to think like, wait,
why has this been talked about for so long? This
is where we start doubling back on the things we
(18:19):
think we know about the draft, and we're actually going
to listen to John spy Tech. It's the only sound
for today here, Josh, we're going to listen to spy
Tech at his pre draft press conference right now.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
I don't try to devalue any certain position. I mean
there's times in games where there's there's nobody you'd rather
have than the best kicker in the league, too, right,
I mean in that moment.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
So there's certain.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
Ways to build a team, and I just I don't
know where we got to a place where we don't
feel like running backs are value. I come from University
of Michigan to my core, and those guys were certainly
really valued there. So it's hard for me to get
away from that.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Josh, what do you think this was?
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Like?
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Worthy of second in the Stack on ESPN dot com
over the weekend?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
The news was so late.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
The most telling phrase from that presser with Pete Carroll
actually came from Pete Carroll, in my opinion, because when
asked about Ashton gent Pete leaned over to Spytech and said, Hey,
be careful with this one. Pete Carroll freaking loves the
draft game, okay, and him saying that and maybe this
is ten four hot theory makes me think it's even
(19:21):
less likely they take Ashon Gent. Pete Carroll is the
type that in previous years with the Seattle Seahawks would
tweet hints of what kinds of picks the Seattle Seahawks
were going to make, and so Pete wouldn't just lean
over and say, Oh, we're interested in this guy. So
this was a misdirection that people took as, oh, we're
(19:42):
actually interested in him. So I think I would go
the opposite way. I would be shocked if the Raiders
select Ashon Gent at number six.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Overall this point, I know we've all been on this
Gent to the Raiders thing for so long now that
it makes me wonder, is this telegraphed?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
And so why would that.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Tom Pelisara is on NFL Network on Monday morning saying
that Genty could potentially be a trade up candidate, and
so are the Jaguars letting this be known behind the
scenes that they're into Gent because they don't want teams
trading up for Gent with the Raiders. Are the Raiders
(20:21):
just doing this the whole time? Who really would trade
up for a running back? Or have we gotten that
far that running backs are back?
Speaker 5 (20:29):
Like?
Speaker 2 (20:29):
If that's the case, hell trade up with the Patriots?
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
The Bears were mentioned and have been buzzed about as
a potential team that could could trade up to take
Ashton Genty. The Saints are another team, weirdly, even though
they just gave Alvin Kamara a ton of money, they're
the Saints and they're just bizarre. Another team that could
be in on Ashton Genzy. I don't know if I'm
all the way there that a team is going to
trade up for a running back, I don't. I don't
(20:55):
see it, even him. But maybe that's why the Raiders
are putting this out there.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
You follow the Saints closely. Think about all those years
when Sean Payton was there, when he like finds a
target in round one, whether it be you know, Marcus Davenport,
I know these are different pillar positions. He'll move up
for him. He did it in his first draft when
they barely had any picks to go get Marvin Mems.
I believe at like the end of yeah, round two, Like,
is it a ridiculous thing to suggest that the Broncos
(21:22):
can move up from twenty to eight or twenty to
six or twenty to seven or any of those spots.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
And maybe the price wouldn't be as much. You're not
trading a quarterback. The class isn't quite as good. So
the Broncos have been mentioned by Adam Schefter as a
potential trade up candidate just about the only one. But okay,
that's our gent fallout. Quickly, a couple other names that
could be traded. One that I think as fairly likely
(21:48):
is George Pickens, and it hasn't gotten like a ton
of pop. But since since my podcast co host Jeremiah
threw that out there, I've just been thinking, yeah, like,
this does seem like a two part move. I don't
I don't know who takes on George Pickens. It's sting
a buyer, beware, considering what happened with him. It's his
last year of his conduct. You're not gonna get much
(22:10):
for him. But you know, the teams that are needy
of a wide receiver, the Patriots certainly come to mind.
The Browns have been willing to just take chances on
guys not not care about anything other than are they
good on the field or not. The Panthers need a
wide receiver the ring, but would they.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Do that right after the Deontay Johnson deal, after Mike
Common and company being okay to let someone leave and
then you trade basically nothing Dante Jackson for Deontay Johnson
and then he doesn't even make it, you know, halfway
through the season.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
I mean Dante Jackson started for the Steelers, it ended
up kind of being a nothing burger for for both teams.
The Raiders certainly need a wide receiver. Maybe they would
take a chance on him, but he's in the last
year of his contract.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
That's one I can definitely see George Pickens in silver
and black, can't you, Like that's almost predestined at this right.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Maybe maybe they be into Michael Mayer because it's kind
of gotten lost in the shuffles. Another Raiders kind of
put it out there that Michael mayor their second tight
end who that could be a Patriots target too.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
You mentioned then possibly trading for.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
Kyray Wilson's another one from the Raiders too that's being
mentioned as well, Like this is someone who was just
draft in the top ten and hasn't produced at all
because of injuries in the NFL, and it seems like
they're picking Michael Koontz ahead of him, who missed all
of last season as well.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
So that's just an has been a bust.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Michael Mayer's looked like an NFL player when he's been
out there, so I would think he would have a market.
I can't imagine Tyree Wilson would have much. But yeah,
that's that's fresh in my mind because my son Walker
was watching old drafts on the Roku channel over the weekend.
He's got the sickness, he really does, and we did it,
did an exercise or he does it, but he then
(23:48):
he checks with me afterwards if I agree, like hit
miss or meh for for every pick and he doesn't
really know the defensive or offensive lineman once and he's like,
Tyry Wilson, that's that's a miss.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
I'm like, yeah, that's that's a miss.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I was like listening to the coverage and everything they
said after. I know that's only two years out, but
that's been a Hayden.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
I always have this conversation, specifically around genty and I
don't want to bring it up here, but he's like, well,
you know, Jalen Carter is going to get a much massive,
much more massive deal than Bijon Robinson got. And I
was like, well, then the pick just ahead of Bejon
Robinson was Tyree Wilson. So it's not like you can
just take these pillar positions and they absolutely work, Like
I understand the contract values and the positional value and
(24:32):
all that type of stuff, but those guys miss at
the exact same time. So it's, uh, I think this
type of draft too, it might be a little bit
different on top of.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
It, right, and maybe a better Colm because I kind
of had forgotten then he went sixth that draft was
Paris Johnson and so then that's one where it's like, Okay,
I think we hit. We hit, Like I said, that's
a that's a that's close to a hit.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I think tak K Johnson's awesome.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Yeah, So you take a tackle at six instead of
Bejohon Robinson, Where's I think you could reasonably debate like
which way to go, but like Bajon was a better
prospect certainly overall.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
But I think the Cardinals are probably pretty happy.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Are we gonna get spicy Go Go. The one name
that keeps getting floated out there by multiple people's Jamison Williams.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Yeah, but the Deer, the other fifth year option guy
was mentioning or thinking about earlier.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Albert Breer brought this up this morning. I know others
have in recent weeks as well. I'm not sure if
it's a Jamison Williams give him extra money and extra
contracts and we're not sure how that's going to pan out,
or that we already have our assets allocated to a
whole bunch of situations, or is it Ben Johnson maximized
(25:39):
on what the talent that is Jamison Williams, where he
almost took over what Sam Laporta was doing in the
previous year. I know that they are very different body types,
but in the people just think of Jamison Williams as
these vertical nine routes stuff, and he definitely has those highlights,
but a lot of the production also came on these
crossing routes, like these short routes that these were runway stuff.
(26:03):
Get him up to speed and then he just rooms
around linebackers and secondary people with his four to three
whatever speed, And so that was a pivotal part for
them last year, but we also know what has gone
on kind.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Of the past two years.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Where I do it alerts me a little bit when
someone like this who was that impactful his best year
and he's already being mentioned as well.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
I think it's I think it's a cell high and
I think it's the Lions getting out in front potentially.
And I don't think this would get out there unless
they were open to it. Of the assets being allocated,
as you mention in trading him high, like you still
have two years left on his contract when you have
that fifth year option, which for a player like him
(26:46):
is a good deal, that fifth year option, So you
have him cost controlled for two years for less than
two two at well is going to make over the
next two years, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
And so that's a tract see Tommy Brown. You know,
but you also know we're.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Not going to give him market value because we have
these sort of people maybe because of how he's been
in the suspensions and everything like that, Like can we
get a pretty reasonable pick here or can we use
him to move up for our next star? That is
that is a really intriguing one. Yeah, that I noticed
as well.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
A couple more.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
I'm going to just fly through here and then we'll
take a quick break. Tyreek Hill, I still think that's possible.
I don't think it's likely. I think it's possible. Mark
Andrews maybe to the Chargers. I feel like it's still possible.
Although Eric the Costa their GM pointed out when was
the last time we traded a veteran like during the draft.
Has that happened, So that's kind of been out there
(27:42):
and they I don't think that's gonna happen, and then
some lesser players will Will Levis, I think we'll end
up on another team, maybe the Steelers or Saints or Giants,
like whoever's Whoever's just out of quarterbacks. Sam howel Is on.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
The markets, Drew Locke again.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
We're getting and at the bottom of my li as
Drew Hendrickson, Trey Hendricks said, rather because I was like,
I don't think he's going to get traded, so I'll
just okay, I've got.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
One more spicy name. Okay, one we even't heard about
this guy all offseason. Kyle Pitts isle Pits going to
be usable in Atlanta. No, he's their fourth fifth pass
catcher at best, now Kyle Pits has not been asked
to run like the gimme real tight end routes, and
now he's basically replaced as does he do the tight
(28:25):
end stuff on an NFL field. But if they are
going to get anything for Kyle Pits, I feel like
it is this offseason and this NFL draft if there's
someone and a team that is.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Still like attached to the draft grade that they gave him.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Teams love their draft grades, and that's that's part of
all of these values. It's why Will Levis will be
somewhere because they get attached to those draft grades. And
Kyle Pits doesn't have the best NFL tape. It's not
the worst NFL tape. That's not a crazy one either.
I do have some real long juts. Actually, let's hit them.
After the break. We'll be right back with Josh Norris.
(28:58):
We're going to get the players he's furthest from consensus.
We're gonna get some more long shot possible trades, and
then a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Draft buzz and we will send you on your way.
It is Draft week back on NFL Daily.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
It is Draft week, and we're talking about possible guys
who could get traded. So I went through like the
likely names, and Schefter throughout a bunch of possible names
that are in their rookie contracts that to me are
just not relevant enough to you know, no shade, Yeah,
just to have like long con discussions about. But Evan
(29:36):
Neil and Jalen Hyatt of the Giants, Trailon Burks, you
mentioned Tyree Wilson, Kayshawn Booze. I'm like, you're gonna get
something for Booty, who's actually, you know, an NFL player.
Adafayoa actually was an interesting guy that he threw out
there as guys on their rookie contract who's he's been okay,
So him throwing those names out there is not nothing.
But if I'm gonna throw out some other long shots,
(29:58):
AJ Brown has been dismissed by Schefter, by other people,
So stop thinking it's going to happen. Patriots fans for
some reason thinks AJ Brown was somehow going to go
to them. It's never gonna happen. Jeffrey Simmons is one
that's been thrown out. Oh yeah, I feel like that.
I feel like that's more of a long shot. But
the thing is, I don't think you're going to get
enough for Jeffrey Simmons. And this is true for most
of these veteran types of guys, where if they're at
(30:20):
on the team at this point in the offseason, they're
probably going to stay there. And so I would include
Jacoby Myers, James Cook, really any of the Browns starting cornerbacks.
They've got three of them, and like if Martin Emerson
or Denzel Ward or Gregg get you excited, Like I
don't think they'll get traded, but they're possible. And then
Devin Lloyd, if they're not picking up his fifth year option,
(30:43):
I think he would have some value out there. Our
guy Ali Connolly thought he played like an all Pro
last year, that he really took a huge third year
leap that not a lot of the media has noticed,
I think except for in Jacksonville. So maybe he'd be
another guy. But those are some just surprise long shots.
All right, let's talk about your players. Josh, that you
(31:03):
think you're further from consensus than any other so you
do a great job. And I really recommend everyone check
out Josh Norris and Hayden's YouTube page, which has like
one hundred and thirty five thousand followers shout out.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
To we're only going to have like forty six prospect profiles,
but yeah, we have about eight to fifteen minutes on
the positives, the concerns, the underlying metrics, and then some
player comparisons for all these guys on quarterbacks, wide receivers,
tight ends, running backs, all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
It's the right balance between diving deep but not too deep,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
It's like it's perfect. It's not just two minutes on
the guy. You want more.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
You want to really learn something, but you do it
in a really concise, entertaining way.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
So you focus on the skill position guys, so I
know it'll come from those guys. Who of those guys
are you furthest from consensus.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
I'm going to lead off with Trevion Henderson out of
Ohio State, who I have my running back too in
this class, and I know a lot of people are
expecting that to be a Marion Hampton. It might be
he might even go round one.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
Oh, he might go to I think I think Trayvon
Henderson might go top ten. I don't think it's that
crazy that he would go to there.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Yes, well, I.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
Have a heavy investment on a Marion Hampton over nineteen
and a half, so we can all be rooting for
that Trevion Henderson, though I think the Broncos at number twenty.
When you think of where the draft will be when
they're able to pick again at number fifty one, there's
like a grand canyon of picks, and then there's no
one that, to me, can do what Trevon Henderson does
(32:40):
after he goes off the board. And from that, I mean,
I guarantee you every single play caller, often as a
coordinator that watched him left saying I would want that
guy in my team because he changes the fabric of
an offense. He's an explosive player who is also arguably
the best pass protecting running back in this class. And
you can find guys who or one of either of
(33:01):
those sides, but rarely does it become that he's like
a blend of the two. So he was a lead
workhorse for a while at Ohio State. Then they tried
to do the Detroit Lions running back room with he
and Quinnchhn Jenkins this year and he dropped about five
or six touches per game. But I'm just in love
with what he brings to an offense and how he
changes it now, and how the league is all about
(33:23):
creating explosive plays in the running game because they're so
difficult to achieve in the passing game.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Now too great on passing downs and explosive is a
great combination in a great blocker.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
He just didn't.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
I didn't get there some vision moments as a runner, Yeah,
he didn't. I don't feel like I'm that far from
consensus on a lot of these guys, and I think
it's probably because I'm nagging this entire draft class, because
I generally I generally watch like the first round guys
as much as I can, and then beyond that for
the skill positions because it's just more fun and you know,
(33:59):
and I just I could I almost could feel that
some of these guys are getting pushed up, and Travon
Henderson was one of them for me where it's like, ouch,
I'm not that excited. I mean as a runner, and
that's what I look for first, Like to me, Amari
and Hampton, I think is a really great prospect and
it would be getting even more love if Jent He
wasn't in this class.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
And I do love me some Hampton.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
I'm trying to think who i'd be furthest from consensus
at at running back. I do like Dylan Sampson, although
I think people like Dylan Sampson.
Speaker 3 (34:29):
They do.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Yeah, I mean he has different flavors, but it's more
than I just think that the top guys are great.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
So the knox in Henderson, I'm not saying that this
is from you, is that he also like doesn't bring
power elements. I kind of disagree with that. There were
times when I thought that his when he knew the
run was going to end and there was like a
square defender in the lane, that he did try to
run through them. He was a lead blocker for his
quarterback and the against Penn State near the goal line
(34:56):
and just flat lined a dude. So if you want
to watch one game of his pass protection state is
that he is asked to do everything and you know,
pick out who's blitzing from where from multiple fronts, and
he does that exceptionally. So I think Trevan Henderson is
a guy that can be like a twelve to eighteen
touch runner and like almost take the career arc. I'm
not saying's Jamior Gibbs, but like what James Cook has
(35:17):
done over the past couple of years, where he went
from like, you know, twelve touches, then to fourteen to
slash sixteen touches and then grew into that inside the
ten yard line work too. And I think Trevian Henderson's
game can grow into that as well.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Yeah, that makes sense, and it reminds me of James
Cook coming out when he just looks so much like
Dalvin Cook, and I swear I was like, isn't that
worth a lot? I was like, Everyone's like, he's eighty
percent Dalvin Cook. I'm like, well, that sounds great. Isn't
that gonna work?
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Isn't the Cook? Isn't that gonna work? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Trevion, I guess I have certain types. It doesn't doesn't
feel like he has as natural like a feel of
how to get five if you only blocked for three.
And I think those are my types of guys, which
are not. No, there's a lot of those class right.
It's like Devin Neil.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
If you want one of those, like, let's just pair
Devin Neil and Trevoran Henderson together and we'll have a like.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Kyrin Williams types.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
I tend to tend to like those types which are
maybe a little less a little less flashy.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
All right, another guy, you're you're far from consensus.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
I'll bring up two.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
I have Colson Lovelin as my tight end one over
Tyler Warren. And I don't think that Tyler Warren is
worthy of a top ten selection, even though he probably
goes in the top ten, because I know a lot
of teams absolutely love him. Uh And that's not to
like bury Tyler Warren is because I know a lot
of draft evaluators love him. He was the entire Pennstde offense.
But then they like geared everything around him, like the
(36:41):
wildcat stuff was like truly amazing. But I just think
for a position that is so traites based, like when
you look at tight ends, the Pro bowlers, the one
thousand yard receivers, that's a very small list. You have
to be an elite athlete. Eighty percent of those guys
are truly elite athletes, and we just like don't know
that of either of them, these guys. Right, But then
(37:01):
there's GPS tracking, there's also just using your eyes, and
I just think like Colson Loveland is just so much
more of an easy mover who offers like legit wide
receiver stuff as your in line tight end and also
does more than enough as a blocker onto it that
I think he is the superior tight end prospect than
Tyler Warren.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
I agree, and the arc I've talked about being a
little down on Warren, it's just it's just you can
see a player like him going really wrong that it
just doesn't work at all. And that's the thing that
I've I've had in my mind too much in this
draft process that you know, all these guys that we
talk about like half aren't going to work for what
the team is true, you know, and yet it's hard
(37:42):
to come up with You want to talk them all up,
but that's it's just the reality. And Warren is a
little more scheme dependent. And yet if if like he
faults the ten and Genti's off the board and the
Bears take freaking Tyler Warren, like they're gonna make that
thing work, like.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
Totally, he is a unique runner of the mentality like
just just being a bully and a hammer like I
truly appreciate that from him, But I don't know if
that's like tight end skills.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
He plays like George Kittle in ways, but he's.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
Definitely not the athlete that George Kittle is and like
a difference maker in that regard in my opinion, and.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
A lot of these guys, it's very tough.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
It's the same thing with the wide receivers, like none
of almost none of them block in a way that
NFL teams look at and you're like, already, I got
something great to work with. They all have to improve that,
and it's so important for the tight ends. But but
Warren is certainly in that category. I'll give you one
more if you have one that you want to you
want to throw out.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
This is going to get me in trouble. This is
going to get me in trouble. I mean, I want
to see what Jalen Milroe becomes in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Yeah, I keep big up in Jalen Milroe. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (38:48):
Yeah, And look, Kim Ward, I understand why he's going
top ten, right, that is absolutely happening. But when you
look at the Shador Sanders versus Jackson Dark debate, those
guys have obvious flags and flaws to their profiles. You know,
like Jackson Dart had total meltdowns in multiple games this
past season and he plays, in my opinion, maybe the
(39:10):
best organized and run offense in college football right now.
And Lane Kiffen, who has Hey, if we have single
high stuff, then we have these ball winners on the outside,
and then because of the spacing and two of those
guys outside the numbers, then the middle of the field
isn't a traffic jam like it typically is in the NFL.
So you can pick that apart. And then shad Or Sanders,
I think his game, and this is where he won
at Colorado was winning pre snap and winning post snap
(39:33):
with his brain. I think he's a really intelligent player,
but that offensive line was absolutely dreadful, and then the
environment led him to, you know, be this retreater in
the pocket. And I just think from a traits perspective,
I'm not that into Shadoor Sanders as a trades guy.
So like, if we bring those two red flag to
the table with those guys, sure, Jalen Milroe has his
(39:54):
flaws as well, but like it's not that dissimilar to
the ones that are being.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Mocked in the first round.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
And he's a truly electric traits player, you know, So
I'm a bit there's a.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Good tap there if he had just got after the
Georgia game, whatever that was, like, was that like week
four when he was still flying. I think people would
view him differently. And there's good tape the year before,
and he's not perfect, but I'm with you, and I
was higher, I think than content. It's when I see,
like Jeff Legwell of VSPN did a top one hundred
(40:27):
board and Kim Ward was like eighteenth overall, and some
people don't see him like that. He's just getting pushed
up and I don't see that at all. I like
him a lot more than I like Piker or McCarthy
coming out to me, he is a guy that fits
in as a number one quarterback in a lot of
classes in a He's very similar to me, just in
like level that I would have him too, when Kyler
(40:49):
goes first or Baker Mayfield goes first, or you know,
darnold people love like I think there's a lot to
be excited about if if to me, the floor get
It's hard to say floor with these prospects, as you
never know, but I really think like I see a
Cutler type career worst case, and like I hate to
tell you that's number one overall pick worthy, Like if
(41:12):
you think that that guy is going to be worst
case that you get like the twelfth best starter in
the league, or some years he's the seventh best starter
in the league. Like, that's ass what's going to happen
in a quarterback draft? All right, those are your players
from consensus. Since we're talking shaudor all right, let's just
hit a couple of little items of the buzz that's
been out there. One from Schefter, and he put out
(41:33):
a lot of stuff on Monday that I think was interesting.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Because it's him.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
First of all, I said, the Giants and the Browns
both tried to trade up to one, the Giants even harder,
and the Titans, you know, weren't really listening, which is
just interesting backstory. I think they saw cam Ward like
I did, like that he was clearly far and out
in a way the number one guy. But then with
shadur that the question is do the Giants take him
at three? That's sort of where the draft starts, and
(41:59):
Schefter's reporting indicates there's a divide in the Giants organization,
and it sounds like the divide is essentially Brian Dabeles
not into him, and the front office is like, hey,
can you really look at Shauduur, and that it's already
being put out there that no Shouldur wants to go
to a place where everyone's in on him, and they
almost know Dable's not in on him, and so I
have a hard time imagining that he will be a
(42:21):
New York giant, and Schefter smartly pointed out, look, they
spent a lot of time with JJ McCarthy, and they
spent a lot of time looking at a lot of
the prospects last year that they didn't take either. So
I think he slips past and then he has information
that the Saints aren't necessarily that high on Shoulduur, that
they're looking up to move up from the second round,
(42:41):
maybe to take someone that they would already calls, right
that they've already made calls, and that would probably be
for Dart, although our friend Adam West at Saints Block
Party podcast that at one point that building was huge
on Milroe and so for the right price, maybe Milroe
is an option there as well, And so that would
lead you to believes should or maybe not as likely
(43:02):
to go nine. How do you pick apart all of this,
because I've thought that the Saints at nine were his
floor this whole time, and I might be wrong about that.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
Yeah, I don't want to be too harsh, but it
kind of reminds me of that Will Levis draft where
I got to it the night before and then you
just like start crossing out and saying, this doesn't make sense,
this doesn't make sense. And I think I was the
only mock draft in the country that didn't have Will
Levis in the first round when at the end of it,
and it kind of feels that way now, I do think.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
That's the one you had the best one in the country.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Or no, No, that was a different one. I did
terrible in that one. That was just a little Leves
draft for me.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (43:37):
The twenty one to Pittsburgh. You know, I think Schefter
someone had mentioned that, you know, they didn't expect to
start the process, that Chador was a possibility. But then
maybe it's grown in that direction as they've gone along.
The window was just like so wide open here that
it's just so difficult to pin one down and it's
to the point where I believe someone is going to
(43:58):
have to make a move for him. If it's not
twenty one to the Pittsburgh of theirs, like they're the
only ones that sitting in their slot make the most
sense to draft him, and if not, someone will be
moving up, because, as we have talked about, at the
top of round two, you know you have Cleveland at
thirty three, Giants at thirty four, and then even some
(44:20):
teams that might be looking in the future, the Saints
obviously at forty, and then heck even like yeah, it's
it gets really interesting once you get into the second round.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Too, Saints. Saints aren't afraid to trade up.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
I think the Steelers would draft Shoulder if they fail
to if he failed to them, and I have a
feeling they would just sit there and wait, and Schefter
says strong consideration.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
That's really interesting.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
The other the other item from him that was interesting
that was that Kirk Cousins was, you know, on the
trade block, even though the Falcons have said they're not,
and that in initial talks about kirk Cousins, they were
asking teams to pay twenty million dollars of his thirty
seven million dollar salary, not moving off of that, and
that some teams would be willing to maybe pay which
(45:01):
no one's going to pay. Kirk Cousins twenty million and
a draft pick, I don't think. But he mentioned the
Vikings as one of the teams that would pay the
ten which is which is just delicious. And by the way,
was thrown out on the very first forties and free
agents back in February by Daniel Jeremiah that he heard
that that could be something even before free agency happened,
so he threw out I think he throughout the Giants
(45:22):
actually as another potential team that would pay ten million dollars.
Speaker 4 (45:26):
I would I would be shocked if Kirk Cousins ends
back up with the Minnesota Vikings, just from a oh,
how do I want to put this a personality standpoint,
like those types of things are you have to be
in control of the room, you know, and Kirk Cousins
does not want to go back to an organization where
(45:49):
he is going to be second federle to JJ McCarthy.
And then at the same time, if they liked him
that much, like there was a clear ending that we
knew for a very long time what was going to
happen between him and the Minnesota Vikings the last time
he hit for agency.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
Well, they tried to pay him though, I mean they
tried to pay him way more than any other day.
They were trying to pay three something million. I mean,
now that deal looks good. They weren't trying to pay
him as much.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Very skeptical of that.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Oh I like that all right.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
The other the other thing that I saw through out
there that I found interesting Pete Schrager now over at ESPN.
He always has a couple of good drafting nuggets, and
he said hit the two names he thought would get
drafted higher than people expect that he's heard from a
lot of people were Michael Williams the Edge from Georgia,
and then Colston Loveland from Michigan. And Loveland could go
(46:40):
as high as seven. And to me that wouldn't actually
wouldn't be a surprise to me. But Michael Williams, that's
an interesting name to me because he's a guy I
struggled with when I did go back and watch, because
it's just like people say, oh, he was hurt, and
it was like, okay, his his previous years he really
wasn't much of a pass rusher either. So you're taking
an edge that has no it's it's not just production.
(47:01):
It's just like, I don't I don't see it, but
he is a trades guy, and you love trades guys, Josh.
Speaker 3 (47:05):
Well he is.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
He's very young that system. Obviously you're working on the
inside technique quite often. I wouldn't be shocked if Michael
Williams is the pick at number eight to the Carolina Panthers.
I think like they might prefer Jalen Walker, but to
be honest, Michael Williams and just his body type kind
of fits what they're doing along the defensive line a
bit more. When you look at Gjeveon, Clowney, dj Wanam
all the big, massive dudes that they have on the interior,
(47:27):
Michael Williams at eight makes sense. Can I throw out
my Peter Schrager He's going to go earlier there. I
expect Playes Yes Gray's Abel, the intier offensive lineman from
from North Dakota State. I would expect him to be
drafted ahead of Tyler Booker out of Alabama. I wouldn't
be shocked if we see Grays Abel to like the
Indianapolis Colts or the Seattle Seahawks. He'll go somewhere in
(47:50):
the teens. And okay, you know that that's an FCS prospect.
But Grey's abel might be like one of the first
intier offensive linemen.
Speaker 3 (47:57):
Off the board.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
For mine, it is just because he's probably the defensive
player I'm higher on than consensus and maybe in the
whole draft in terms of just I think he'll get
taken higher than where his consensus board is is Walter
Nolan and Breer throughout Albert Breer of SI throughout that
he's in strong consideration for the forty nine ers at eleven,
(48:18):
just because when I watched him, I thought in this
class he seems the most likely to be like an
Albert Hainsworth type of player. I don't know why I'm
parrying him with another guy who, like people questioned his motor.
Maybe that's but just like he could easily to me
he could be the number one defensive player from this draft.
So I just don't buy in this in this class
(48:40):
where there's not a lot of premier talent, the good
tape is so good that he just looks like one
of those dudes.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
I just don't.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
I don't buy when there's so few blue chips that
all these teams are going to let him pass because
he turned it on and off and there's some question
about how much he loves football. It's like those guys
get taken high all the time. If they've got great tape,
and his great tape is great, it's probably greatter than
just about anyone else that plays defense other than Travis
Hunter in this class. So that one stuck out to me.
(49:06):
I didn't mention, by the way, when we were talking
Eagles and being smart and having their assets allocated, that
Cam Jurgen's got a big contract since we last did
a show, So congrats to him. We talked about that
a few times on this show, that they're going to
get him locked up. He's locked up through twenty twenty nine.
They've now given a contract extension to four of their
five offensive linemen in the last year alone. That includes
(49:27):
Lane Johnson who just had one year attacked on.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
But that's how.
Speaker 4 (49:30):
Twenty twenty nine is a specific year where I believe
the TV deals and everything are up with the exact
send get.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
The Eagles getting it done.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
The Jets picked up the fifth year option that they're
going to for Sas Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and then the
interesting one was Jermaine Johnson, who's going to make about
thirteen million dollars so that they like what they've seen
out of Jermaine Johnson on tape. And then Ryan Ramcheck
has retired from the Saints. Just happy trails. That was
more of a procedural mood, but a guy who was
part of one of the best draft classes of the
(49:58):
last twenty five years, the best and yet it fell
apart quickly. But one of the best right tackles in
the league the minute he entered the league for about
five years.
Speaker 4 (50:06):
Yeah, it's not because of Ryan Ramcheck but Saints and
it might not be quite to you, but I think
to the nation a quiet offensive tackle team, even after
taking one last year, I believe.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Yeah, I think if one of the bigger picture questions
to me is how high the tackles go and in
what order. I don't personally believe that Will Campbell's gonna
go ahead of Membu because I just don't think it
makes sense that a guy that looks as talented as
meant like, I hope that's the Patriots pick at four
if they stick, stick and pick, and then I think
(50:38):
the gap between Campbell, if there even is one, and
the next Coleven Banks, like if it's Kelvin Banks or
Josh Simmons or whoever it's gonna be, Like, I just
feel some of these tackles are going to get pushed up,
so how high No.
Speaker 4 (50:51):
I agree in a class that we've kind of been
talking about where you're not exactly sure what you're getting,
offensive line and defensive line will probably go very early.
I would Expectkevin Banks to be a top ten selection.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
Oh man, and he's got some bad tape out there.
Speaker 1 (51:05):
But that's the thing with the tackle position in this
class especially, there's like five guys people like and then
there's a pretty big drop, so that's just going to
push everyone. That's why Josh Simmons from Ohio State, who's
maybe the biggest boomer Bus prospect in the class because
of motor because of injury to me if you told
me he went in the top ten ahead of Will Campbell, Like,
we're going to be surprised, Josh Norris Will, we'll be
(51:27):
covering it all and yeah, he'll be doing it at
the same time as Legal Live. You can you know
what split screen like this show enough to make it
to the end. Just put them both up. You can
put Josh on mute, but give him the view he
won't know the difference. Listen to us and it'll be fun.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Draft night.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
Yeah, m I put myself on mute. After that, we'll.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Say yes, only one more show to go until then, right,
is that right? Yes, we're going to be back on Wednesday.
Thank you, Josh hit the music. We got Jordan Rodrieg.
We're going to do a mock draft. We're gonna do
it for you. Find We're gonna collect our two thoughts
and we're gonna do a mock draft together. So that
will be up on Wednesday, and then yes, we'll be
live for the draft.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
And you know what.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Voluntary mini camps started on Monday. The Jacks, the Bears,
the Raiders. They're on the field. That means football.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
It's back.
