Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
That's right, this is Good Morning Football presented by the
Farmer's Dog. We are nearly one week into our home
in Los Angele.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Yeah, that went by fast, it went, didn't.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I'm jamier at all. That is Akwar, Bunsby and Miller.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
There is Peter Schrager.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
There is Kyle Brandt. You guys, there were a lot
of extracurriculars to our first week here on GMFB LA.
I'm looking forward to like season when there's games and
we just get to get in, get out, talk football
and call ourselves a day at nine am, West Coast.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, the story we will write itself.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah for sure, exactly. Akwar, I know you're still getting
to use You're need to know all of us.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
But this is like such a thrilling time because when
Kyle Brandt does a highlight, we just like to let.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
Loose, let it ride. Kyle, please do us the honors.
Oh I got it right here, my friend's real actual highlights.
The lead block of the blue Football much going to
can't Ohio, Peter, we have the twenty twenty fourth class
been going on this weekend, of course, but we also
have the Rookie of the Year from last year and
then the Rookie year from this year. We'll find out.
Given this is all about this, all right. That is
(01:28):
the landing zone of the new kickoff policy, and then
we also have the setup zone that's on the other
team's forty yard line. This is what it looks like
from the kick returners perspective. Now we're gonna get into
this all season long. They're also the holder gets involved
and runs off. More on that in a little bit. However,
you cannot leave to cover the kick until it is caught.
The touchbacks come out to the thirty yard line. Here
(01:51):
is some of the history they were trying it out
and Canton and we'll be doing it for real in
a few weeks. Again that touchback to the thirty yard line.
So we'll learning this, we'll educate you in this, and
we're gonna enjoy this. You mentioned a cocast Bears win
the game. As Caleb looks on with the earpiece, you're
gonna see some of that classic Midwestern weather in August, right.
This is kind of thing you see with Glenn Powell
(02:11):
and twisters they actually end the game early says suspended
this everybody go home, thanks for coming. Twenty one to
seventeen is a final score. If you had Texans in
your preseason elimination.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Pool, you are out done.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Sorry one and done by really good football though, and
we learned to kickoff rulf And in the meantime, Steve weish
always classing up the joint he was with cam Akers.
Has been through a lot, but looked awesome last night.
Take it away, Steve, what.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
About the what you guys have done throughout training camp
to just come out and perform like that initially your
first four series.
Speaker 7 (02:43):
I think it's a testament to the way we work,
you know, in the Houston heat and the resilience that
we have to work in the heat and get better
and stay on top of the mental things and the
physical aspect.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
Of course.
Speaker 7 (02:55):
I think it's just a testament to the way we
work to coach, stay on top of us. We swarm,
you know, That's what he preached to swarm, and that's
what we did tonight. We swarmed all the the place
from offense to defense, especially those first.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
Few drive and last thing, just for you performing like
you did tonight. How does that make you feel going forward?
Speaker 7 (03:13):
Make me feel like I'm steal me? You know, obviously
a lot of people gonna go and try to paint
a narrative of who I am at the running back
position or how it goes at the running back, but
just wanted to come out and show people I'm steal me.
I still make plays when given an opportunity, and I'll
continue to do that.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
And if it's August first, that's got to be a
pretty good feeling because the rest is ahead of you,
young man. This is like a Ron Burgundy moment for
the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
Bears win. No, indeed, yes, he the Bears win.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
It was called on the account of clouds and rain
and thunderstorms, but it happened twenty one to seventeen. And
like the guys.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Mentioned, if you had the Texans.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
In your pool, you are done for preseason. But we
can start again on week one. I can't wait to
hear everyone's takes on this because it was real live
football to talk about how far we start with you
and one of the names that we heard several times
in that highlight.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yeah, Colin Johnson.
Speaker 8 (04:03):
And in fact, I think a lot of people are
becoming familiar with the name Colin Johnson. But let me
tell you before you show any video of what Colin
Johnson did, Peter Kyle, I want to ask you guys,
do you guys know why he bawled out? And do
you know how tall Colin Johnson is?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Oh, here we go.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
I need the answers to all this stuff Colin Johnson dossier, Okay.
Speaker 9 (04:26):
But I also know that he did so with Keenan
Allen not there and DJ Moore not there, and yes,
that's the opportunity here.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
No, he stole my under He is six six. He
had to catch radus. Now, you can't roll the highlight
of Colin Johnson.
Speaker 8 (04:47):
But yes, he's six six and he used that height
to his advantage. But I'll tell you why I really
connected with the dude on the rial. It's because I
understand this kid was a practice squad player. You know,
he's been in the league for a little bit now,
but he's now starting to kind of get his wings
under him. He's starting to feel confident. He's got some
veteran receivers around him, he's starting to feel that the
competition is going up with Keenan Allen there. But I
(05:10):
don't know this kid, but I just love the way
he bowled out the tallest wide receiver in the NFL,
just like I'm the tallest host here at six six
I'm just going from keeping putting that out there, the
six to sixth part out there. But shout out to
Colin Johnson though, for having a great first game in
the Hall of Fame game.
Speaker 9 (05:26):
I remember there was guys in the preseason. Victor Cruz
made a name for himself come years ago, Richie James
made a name for himself.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Colin Johnson made a name for himself. And he's also got.
Speaker 9 (05:35):
Four more games to do it, or three more games
to do it. We'll hope to see what he can
do in the rest of the preseason. But you know,
a lot of the Bear starters didn't play. Now that
the game has already been playing, we don't need to
lie to you, folks. There were backups in all night.
It wasn't the starter, So it wasn't the true Bears.
There wasn't the true Texans. But we did get to
see Caleb Williams, and we talked about on the show yesterday,
like would you put a rookie on an open microphone?
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Would you put him out there the Bears did.
Speaker 9 (05:58):
Here's what Kayleb Williams sounded like. Just a little taste
of the Kayleb Williams experience. As they interviewed him from
the sideline, What did.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
You want to show if you had been able to
get out here tonight.
Speaker 10 (06:08):
Yeah, it's been a while since I've been on the
football field since noving by team, and so you know,
been able to.
Speaker 11 (06:13):
Hear get out here and play a game that time
was coming soon.
Speaker 12 (06:18):
We just got a I think.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
A sack fumble.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
They recovered it, but you know, just to.
Speaker 11 (06:23):
Get back out here, get back on the field, my toe,
coach holl exciting.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
It feels to be back out on the field finally.
Speaker 9 (06:30):
And so when I was just a little ups let alone,
just getting out here to play.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
All right. So just a taste of his personality.
Speaker 9 (06:37):
Now, what I'm told and what we heard is that
he is going to take snaps in the preseason at
some point. So you saw him. He was leadership, he
was doing all the stuff on the sidelines. Great, we
saw a little hard knocks clip.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
It was cool. Hopefully we'll get that later in the show.
Speaker 9 (06:48):
But just a taste of the Caleb Williams experience. That's
all I wanted, just a little appetizer, and we got
to see him talk to him and he was in
great spirits.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
So that's my takeaway.
Speaker 9 (06:56):
This is fine, Colin Johnson, all that great, but there's
more to come and that's the future right there.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Really the star of the game in the spotlight was
from Caleb and CJ. Stroud by the new kickoff policy,
Like that's what we were looking at last night, and
before we even roll the tape, like there was I
think a concern maybe amongst fans that oh, there's gonna
be a million kickoff returns down and everyone's going to
be for a touchdown. No, Like, the coverage was actually
really good and he was fascinating watching the broadcast describe
(07:22):
it and they line up here and they can't do this,
they can't do this. There is one thing really deep
in the weeds I thought was fascinating and took the
broadcast to a great place. You know, you see kickoffs
over the years where the wind keeps blowing the ball
off the tee and after a while one of the
guys comes over it, puts his finger on it, and
then after the kick he gets up and runs down
in coverage roll the video. Now the fact now the
kicker is isolated, he's not with the rest of the
coverage people. So the holder comes out and I'll hold
(07:44):
it in case of heavy wind, and then he has
to immediately take the team, get the hell off. If
there were to be a kick return broken, he cannot
participate in the play whatsoever. Get off the field. So
we're running this and keep running this, and Buck starts saying,
it's like my guy, Mojo Mojo. I'm like, who is Mojo?
And then sure enough, this is Mojo Mojo. Let's go
(08:06):
to the Houston Oilers in the seventies, Peter, I knew
you would love this, all right. So that is William
Van Lackey aka Mojo Mojo. What watch where this goes?
It is a Houston Oilers equipment manager and he.
Speaker 10 (08:20):
Does a bow Mojo Simone Biles, Eat your heart out, seriously.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
That was Mojo's job was to go out, get the thing,
get the hell off the field. And he became this
beloved figure with the Oilers. That was his only joby Blue,
which is so great. He for sixteen years was with
the Oilers. He was he would do the team's laundry
every day, but on game day it was showtime. That
was it. Every time. It was like you could have
(08:46):
had Hall of Famers, return of the Kicks, and everybody's
going Mojo Mojo. It's a crazy story. It's a little
bit of a sad ending. Mojo passed away at the team facility.
The next day, the Oilers wore Mojo on their uniforms.
They won the game, and they chanted Mojo in on
of that tea fetcher who had a moment last night
(09:07):
because of the new kickoff policy, so we'll see how
the kickoffs go in the regular season. If no other
reason than the fact that they brought in video of
Mojo to Good Morning Football, I think it's the greatest problem.
Speaker 9 (09:18):
I mean, I feel like there might be a little
oversaturation of sports documentaries and content. There we go, there's
an F one racer who's being followed and a track
star was being followed, and Netflix bought it for this much,
and Apple Puts bought it for this much.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
How has there not been a Mojo documentary? That's an
incredible story sixteen years with the team. I think every
team now should have someone like Mojo whose job is
to run out and get it. In the case of
the high winds, that should be an every time thing.
We used to have dogs doing that, we got kids
doing it. Need more of that. But look how cool
Mojo is. I love this marriage.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
The fact that Joe Buck was the one that had
this call in during the broadcast is perfect because this
video footage is actually clearer than Joe Buck when he
called into our show.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Yesterday, which is like so perfect.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
The fact that that is from this seven and DS
and the Houston Oilers game, and the fact that the
clearer image and like, I'm gonna go m for Mojo, Goto,
this is a mojo.
Speaker 12 (10:17):
This is happening.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
You got some serious mojo right now today.
Speaker 12 (10:20):
So great, you know what.
Speaker 8 (10:22):
I love that. That's great that you brought that in.
And there, I will say, though, I played on that turf,
that old school artificial turf, and I remember when I
had my first skin graph because I took off all
the skin on my arm. Mojo's out there like full
own diving on that hard carpet, and I'm like, I
wonder how many skin graph how many times he had
the like little rugburd on there. But shout out to
(10:43):
Mojo for just going in hard man that that's the
hardest teeth that's're out.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Never see, it's a new job.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
It's a new job, and Mojo.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Doc's gonna be huge.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yes, you're writing Mojo Doc huge. Do it with the dogs,
the kids doing it, that's fine, We'll get kids other
jobs in the stadium. We need like a full blown
adult doing this in dedicated.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Fashions, a hoople life Mojo.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
We're not done with our coverage in Canton.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Saturday.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
It's the moment that many have been waiting for since
this year's Hall of Fame class was announced at NFL Honors.
It's the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Shriman Ceremony.
It's happening at noon Eastern right here on NFL Network.
Pre show kicks off an hour earlier, eleven am Eastern.
You know the music, you know the jackets, you know
the names going in. It all unfolds, all the speeches
(11:27):
and everything that will bring you to tears on Saturday,
speaking of let's go one of the best to ever
do it. Rob Gronkowski, he's joining us. This is mussy TV.
He's in a tight window. We have questions, we need answers,
Gronk Europe.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
I guess that's all he is.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
I want to hear about a cellular coverage. That's Gronk
Canna tell us advice and tell us everything. Guys, all right,
that's who I want to talk to. That is maybe
the angriest runner alive New Zealand rugby player and gold
medal winner right after this part, So what man Wickclift
with the new gold medal? Will she get an angry
run scepter? Right after this? Knock going Zealand zeeling love that.
Speaker 13 (12:19):
Good mon.
Speaker 9 (12:21):
He's one of the greatest players to ever play the game.
He's also one of the biggest personalities and we are
so happy to have him join us on the show
with no further ado.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Mister, thank you, Peter, Thank you very much.
Speaker 11 (12:37):
Man.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
It's an honored to get introduced from you. Thank you.
Speaker 5 (12:40):
Yes, yes, that was my introduction.
Speaker 13 (12:42):
Before we get to football, and before we get to
why you're joining us today, I gotta ask, what was
it like at that Michael Rubin white party?
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Hey go these photos?
Speaker 13 (12:53):
Was Gronk hanging out with every celebrity known demand, dressed
in white with that goofy smile of your tail.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Here, I'm happy for you. You look amazing commuting here.
Speaker 14 (13:03):
But like tell us, Yes, the White Party was one
of the best experiences I've ever been. So I couldn't
believe just how many well known people were just in
one house, gathered under one roof. It was just really
cool and you could just be yourself there as well.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
You can dance, you can rock out, you can socialize
with other you know, well known people. That it was
just really really cool.
Speaker 14 (13:27):
Michael Ruben's the only guy who can get that done
and get so many people on their one roof at
his house. So just a great experience. And Peter, I
know that you want to get invited to that party,
the whole freaking band that you keep bringing it up
to me everything time you've seen you that.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Sot to it. Oh man, I understand, I understand.
Speaker 13 (13:50):
I understand that your girlfriend is one of the most
successful swimsuit models of all time and the two of
you have a great relationship. I also understand that you
get a plus one to this party, and we're pretty
good friends and you can ask me anytime you want
you have it.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Hopefully next year I get a plus two and then.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
A plus two.
Speaker 8 (14:12):
Wel you, gronk you know when you're not private jetting
it over to the Hamptons. I mean, I know that
you've teamed up with T Mobile to help pay it
forward to young athletes. Tell us more about that.
Speaker 14 (14:23):
Well, first off, I dident private jet to the Hamptons.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
I took the ferry.
Speaker 14 (14:27):
I drove my car onto the ferry and took it
from Connecting.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Gum to the Hampton.
Speaker 15 (14:31):
Thanked me about five grand right there because the ferry
was about eighty dollars. So well, and then we're talking
about the T Mobile you know campaign that's going on
right now.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I love giving back to the community, that's for sure.
Speaker 14 (14:46):
And yesterday T Mobile and I we just announced Friday
Night five g Lights and.
Speaker 16 (14:53):
It's a nationwide competition inviting high school to share their
stories for a chance to win a.
Speaker 15 (14:59):
Multi million dollars stadium makeover.
Speaker 16 (15:03):
And the prizes include one hundred thousand dollars cash grant,
a new state of the arch scoreboard, the ultimate tailgate
party for the whole entire community within that high school region.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
And Trager, I know you love the party.
Speaker 14 (15:18):
I saw you in the Hamptons this summer and you're
behind the DJ booth.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
You're one week old, weapon. I won't say anything more
because you may it fired, but I know you love
the party like that. Also, Robs on Fire.
Speaker 16 (15:34):
Five Key, Power, Throne Show and Grown shows are pretty cool.
Speaker 17 (15:38):
I've seen two of them in my life, and my
favorite price is the Rock Fitness.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
My family's company will be.
Speaker 17 (15:45):
Upgrading the weight room so these kids can stay strong
and stay fit and dominate out on the football field.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Man, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Rob you are a master of this because you were
able to just denigrate Peter Schrager in between your sponsorship.
I mean, I think that's incredibly skilled of you. We
have to take you to football now. Tom Brady your
other team now at Fox along with Shregs. He's entering
his rookie year. Now you are the vet on TV
compared to Tom Brady. How do you think he's going
(16:12):
to do? I know there's a lot of expectation. What
advice have you given him?
Speaker 17 (16:17):
Yes, I think Tom Brady is going to absolutely dominate
in the booth.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
He'll definitely have his up and downs.
Speaker 14 (16:23):
Of course, anyone entering a new gig in life, you're
going to have to have some lessons that you're going
to have to learn.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
And overall, I think he's going to be very successful.
Speaker 17 (16:34):
The advice I would give him is, don't overthink and
just be yourself, you know, go out there and share that.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Gift that he was born with. And that gift is
the knowledge of football that he has.
Speaker 17 (16:46):
And he has the most knowledge for the game of
football that any x any former football player out there.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
So just go out and share that.
Speaker 14 (16:54):
Knowledge with the world, and he will absolutely dominate.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I don't you know. I will never put anything past him.
Speaker 17 (17:00):
And he has all this time to prepare, and when
he has time to prepare.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
He will always be on his A game. So Tom
Brady's gonna dominate. I can't wait for it.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Oh, okay, it's gonna dominate it.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
We'll all be watching.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Listen. We want to bring in a friend of ours here, Gronka.
We used to know him as Joey mullen Naro, but
apparently now he's just going by Rob Gronkowski. So can
we bring in new Rob Gronkowk, there he is, and
new Rob Gronkowski, go ahead and say hello to the
old Rob Gronkowski.
Speaker 18 (17:30):
Go ahead, what's up? Good morning football, And what's up Gronk?
It's me Gronk. Here to talk to gronks.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Great, what are you up to this weekend?
Speaker 18 (17:44):
Well, I got a question for you of the gronk.
My first question, as everyone's been talking all summer about
Tom's roast. It was pretty hilarious, right, what do you think?
I want to know who do you think had the
worst time on stage that night?
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Tom or Ben a Flack? Oh? Man, that's solid question.
I saw Tom.
Speaker 15 (18:06):
He was sipping a lot of tequila while he was
on the stage.
Speaker 14 (18:10):
I would have to go with Ben Affleck. I know
Tom hasn't joined himself. I know he got roasted pretty
bad at times, but Ben.
Speaker 17 (18:17):
Affleck just showed up, He did his thing, and then
he ran out of there, So I don't think he
enjoyed it that much or if he was staved.
Speaker 18 (18:26):
It definitely was Hey, it definitely wasn't us. Bro We
absolutely crushed. We were hilarious. Finally, Bronk. My other question,
we spent years having coach Belichick get on us and
coach us up. Now I wanted to see if we
had any advice to coach him up about dating in
twenty twenty four, since his buddy knew young love life
is out there for the public.
Speaker 16 (18:48):
Oh my goodness, hey to tell you the truth, Fake
Rob Grandcostle, or should I say that, New and approved
Rob Gronkowski.
Speaker 17 (18:56):
We don't have to give any dating advice to coach Blichick.
Speaker 14 (18:59):
We need dating advice from coach Balicheck actually, because he's.
Speaker 19 (19:02):
Absolutely dominating the game. He has a new beautiful lady
out there, and he's just a joint life, not coaching anymore.
So you gotta give the props a coach Ballicheck. He's
running the show, all right, running the show.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
Oh boy, oh wow, New Rob you are incredible. Thank
you so much. New Rob's a go ahead, baby, we
got We gotta thank the old Rob.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Old Rob. We love you so much. Say goodbye, New Rob.
Got it out.
Speaker 15 (19:35):
I left the high schoolers out there Friday night, five
glights dot Com.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Thank you guys for having me. I love you guys.
I'll see you guys too.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
We love you too.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
If you want to have your feels the best Thanky mobile,
check it out. Rob Nocassi, You're the best. Come back
anytime on Good Morning Football. Enjoy your off season and
we'll see you with Shregs on Sunday mornings on Fox.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
I'm going to tee it up and just see if
I can find an opportunity to get to Camping World Stadium.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
Sherry bursts with the news.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Which kind of crappy news if you're considering being a
Charges fan.
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Yeah, absolutely, mew thinking.
Speaker 20 (20:45):
With Jim Harbaugh now running the show here, there's high
hopes for the Chargers in LA this season, but they
received concerning news about their star quarterback, the dem announcing
Justin Herbert was diagnosed with a planter fascia injury in
his right foot. He's expected to be out for at
least two weeks. Herbert's in a walking boot during that time,
but he is expected to be ready for the start
(21:07):
of the regular season. And the news also not so
great for Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins either NFL Network
insider Tom Peliso reporting Hopkins suffered an injury during practice.
He's expected to miss about four weeks. Hopkins led Tennessee
in receiving yards last season, eclipsing one thousand yards for
the first time since twenty twenty. And we know the
(21:27):
Ravens season didn't end as they hoped after their loss
to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Gate Well, Lamar
Jackson spoke with Mike ham and Mark Ross and said
that loss is still tough and hard to put behind him.
Speaker 21 (21:42):
I mean, I'm very competitive and I hate losing, so
I really think about it almost every day. He for real, like,
we were so close, but you know, it's a new season.
Can't dwell on the past, even though I still do
a little because we were so close. But new season,
no new opportunity. That's how I look at it.
Speaker 20 (21:57):
They get another chance Week one against the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (21:59):
And you know why.
Speaker 20 (22:00):
Because football is back and NFL Network has every NFL
preseason game, including twenty one live. It is time for
some football the NFL preseason starting August eighth through August
twenty fifth here on NFL Network. Blackout restrictions apply. Also
shooting on NFL Plus. Subscription required for NFL Plus. Now
(22:20):
when we come back, we'll be joined by Olympic gold
medalists and one of the angriest runners you will ever see.
Speaker 12 (22:26):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 20 (22:27):
Look at this new Zealand rugby star for Shaw Woodman Wickcliffe.
Speaker 12 (22:30):
You do not want to miss her more.
Speaker 20 (22:32):
GMFB is on the way.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Hey, welcome back to Good Morning Football. It's early August
in a summer month of an Olympics.
Speaker 12 (22:53):
Have you been watching?
Speaker 8 (22:54):
Of course I watched some moan biles. I was in
tears in sunny Lee. They were going off.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
And now track and field is starting. Hikari Richardson just
ran yesterday on GMF overtime on Roku. We caught up
with a New Zealand rugby player. There's a reason behind
this Porsche Woodman Wickliffe. She was on gmfb OT. She
is a gold medal now her second, and her running
style or her playing style, let's just say it qualifies
(23:19):
perfectly for our show.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
This is not gmfb OT, It is gm w R
Good Morning Women's Rugby OT. It is the coolest sport
right now in the world, women's rugby. And as proof
of that, we're about to bring on someone I am
so excited to talk to because she might be the
angriest runner the GMFB has ever seen that the world
(23:42):
has ever seen. Please welcome fresh off another gold medal,
gold medal rugby player, Porshaw wood Man Wicklan.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yea great.
Speaker 12 (23:56):
My voice is a lot of celebrating, a lot of cheering.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
But I'm Heggie, you should be happy.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
I'm a little bit nervous to talk to you. But
we just have to get into this New Zealand. You're
representing them so proudly, so beautifully. You beat Canada to
become gold medals at the part the paras Olympics. This
is your second gold medal. You're wearing it right now.
Show it to us and tell us what it felt
like to get it.
Speaker 12 (24:20):
Is it coming through.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Yeah? Oh yeah, oh yeah, I look at that. That's cool.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
That's so cool.
Speaker 12 (24:28):
That's beautiful, absolutely amazing. Oh man, this blur is mine.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
It's stunning.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
That's okay, we got it. Tell us about it.
Speaker 22 (24:37):
Unbelievable, Like you said, this is our second, our second
gold medal, getting to represent my country, my family. Unbelievable.
Just I'm proud of myself, to be absolutely honest. I'm
one of the old girls in the team, but still
carving up on the field. I don't know if it's
a common term, carving it up.
Speaker 8 (24:55):
Sure, yeah, bring it back, yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
But listen, we we could have had Patrick Mahomes on here,
Tom Brady, some of these international icons from American football. No, no, no,
we wanted you, Porsicha and roll the videotape. When we
saw this, we said, find her, get her on the show.
This is some of the best stuff I have ever
look at that and.
Speaker 10 (25:18):
Maybe right there, your goodness, my god, she waited to
be caught up with and then she dealt with her.
This nice excited young woman we're talking to right now
turns into this maniac and.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
I love it. Porsche.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
Tell us about you running angry and what it means
to you and how you do it.
Speaker 12 (25:37):
Lea and Nick well me, it's all about this running
as hot as a man, right, I'm considered one of
the biggest players on the field and I'm going to
use everymount of this.
Speaker 11 (25:48):
Wow, this is incredible, This is so good, it's unbelievable. Porsche,
I've got to ask you the all blacks we knew
from New Zealand obviously, like, tell us about your teammates,
your team and what this run was like and how
fun it was for this squad in particular from New
Zealand to win the women's rugby gold medal.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 22 (26:07):
So obviously it's only been three years since the last
Olympics Tokyo. That was a crazy time. Twenty twenty Olympics
COVID all of that was.
Speaker 12 (26:15):
Just out of this world. So we stuck around.
Speaker 22 (26:18):
We wanted to experience an Olympic Games with all our family,
a sell out stadium if possible, and so we've been
working really, really hard. We've been through some highs and lows,
our captain stuff at an acl and three at the
end of last year. But we've got some really young
and amazing talented girls coming through. I'm really really grateful
they've been able to play alongside them and hopefully show
(26:40):
them a bit of you know what I can do
and they'll inspire them to do what they're doing. But
ultimately to firstly get to the Olympics amazing. Not everyone
gets that opportunity. Secondly, to come out with a gold
medal playing against the side like Canada. They've been rising
throughout the ranks over the last few seasons and it
was an awesome game, awesome tournament. It was hot out
(27:01):
on that field, but to play in front of sixty
six thousand people in that Defrance.
Speaker 12 (27:06):
That was amazing.
Speaker 22 (27:07):
I kind of Yeah, it's not enough words to describe
the feeling and the emotions that we went through.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Well, we love hearing all of them. Poor Chap, however,
you're you say you're one of the oldest members of
the team. However you're quite youthful in your time spent
in the sport. This only started for you your rugby
journey back in twenty twelve. And walk us through how
Facebook played a part in it.
Speaker 12 (27:30):
Yeah, you've done your researcher, right, I like that. Well, yeah,
back in the day.
Speaker 22 (27:36):
So in twenty twelve, Facebook ad came out and it
was a big thing at the top.
Speaker 12 (27:41):
Go football in Rio twenty sixteen.
Speaker 22 (27:44):
I was currently a professional athlete with netball, and I
was like really young. I think I was nineteen or
twenty when that came out. So I just wanted to
have a cracket Olympics. You know, for me, going to
Olympics was an ultimate dream. Didn't know what sport I
wanted to do, but thought if this was an opportunity
then I was going to take it in every chant
then and enjoy every chance I get.
Speaker 12 (28:05):
So, yeah, went along to one of the lights.
Speaker 22 (28:08):
Did some trials, drooms, whatever, and then just loved it
and was managed to stay throughout.
Speaker 12 (28:13):
The whole program. And Yeah, now twelve years later, three medals,
silver and two golds around my neck.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
Amazing.
Speaker 8 (28:20):
Yeah. You know, Portia, you know there are rumors flying
out there that you plan to retire. Tell us what
went into that decision and what do you plan to
do next?
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 22 (28:30):
You know, as a female athlete, we have to think
about having kids, and I at the age of thirty three,
where the potential to come back after having babies probably
isn't ast as great for rgby players, and so my
ultimate dream is to have babies, and I wanted to
get to a point where I finished the Olympics.
Speaker 12 (28:49):
I have opportunities around the world.
Speaker 22 (28:51):
There's a competition in America, there's Japan, there's a rugby
league union, rugby league competition in Australia. Like, there's all
these opportunities, and I want to try a little bit
of everything. So the idea was get to Paris being
the beast state that I think I can be. Have
a year and a half to try different opportunities, and
then I'm going to pop out babies as much as
i can.
Speaker 4 (29:10):
Oh, that's wonderful, It is so cool.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
We love you, and I know that everybody watching in
the United States loves you when you have those babies,
and we wish you the best with that. When they
get a little older, I want you to show them this.
This is what we call the Angry Scepter, and this
is our gold medals, the closest thing we have. We
send this thing to all the biggest, baddest, toughest American
football players. All the big stars have one Porsche. You
(29:37):
have to earn this thing by trucking people with pure
malice and rage. Roll the video tape. We are going
to send you a sceptor and the shirt. You only
have to earn this sucker and that individual right there
gets what will you accept it? And will you please
honor the sceptor?
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Oh my gosh, these.
Speaker 22 (29:54):
Runs, dude, Absolutely well, that's an honor in itself.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
You, It's an honor to talk to you.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Do you watch the NFL, like, do you have an
awareness for the the fact that your game is liken
so much to what Kyle if Frankly is obsessed with
watching every Sunday which is Angry Runners.
Speaker 12 (30:11):
I don't follow it as much.
Speaker 22 (30:12):
Always looked at it and thought, man, those guys are crazy.
Speaker 12 (30:15):
You know, the fact that you can run into each other.
Speaker 22 (30:17):
You've got all these pads, which I imagine would make
you feel really immortal, invincible and invincible and like you
could do anything. So I've always actiously kind of, you know,
wanted a devil at NFL. But there's just so many
different things and I have to learn a completely different game.
But yeah, I love the similarities. I love the mongolelness
of NFL. I love being able to run over people
(30:40):
in rugby. So yeah, I admire NFL did big time Kyle.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
This is one of the ways for people to catch
up with her so that she can stiff arm them
back where they came from. And if you saw the
clip this week, Derek Henry watched some of your highlights
and loved them. He loves the women's rugby game. We
are sending this to you, Porsche along with that gold medal.
It is our way of honoring you on Good Morning Football. Porsche,
Woodman Wick Cliff. Congrats on that future family. He's gonna
(31:04):
be badasses. Let's go. Thank you for joining us.
Speaker 22 (31:07):
Amazing, Thank you so much. What I'm exolote on that
is to receive it. Ben was an incredible moment. I
told to you all, peace out, Love you all.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Peace She's amazing.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
Peace out, love you, peace out, love you all. Right.
This tweet just came in from Mike Reagan. Been watching
Good Morning Football since August twenty sixteen. That segment with
Gronk and New Gronk has got to be top five
all time. Thank you, Mike Reagan. I think you're absolutely right.
Here's the backstory and we'll tweet out the entire segment.
Of course, if you follow us, we're gonna have Rock
(31:38):
Gronkowski on the show, which is awesome. Love Gronk. It's
always a good time. And yesterday we're thinking we could
ask Gronk the typical stuff whatever he's up to, ask
about Tom, asking him about Bill. But hold on, Joey
mullin Aro, is this incredible talent who's out there if
you haven't seen him, he's amazing. He does impressions, he
does content is all this stuff. He does this great
Gronk impression. We're friends with him. I reached out. I said, Joey,
(31:59):
do you want to come on as Gronk and interview Gronk?
Absolutely hell, yes, I'll do it. Gets up in the morning,
comes on, ask Gronk questions some like kind of like
on the edge questions too, No, and Gronk, real Gronk
just absolutely rolled. It could have been cooler. It was
an all time segment and like Peter, we didn't know
how that was going to go, but it went great.
(32:20):
Joey moln Arrow, thank you so much. You're the best.
Everybody follow him.
Speaker 9 (32:22):
You know, when you're asking about the greatest coach of
all times, current dating life, we can't do it on
the good.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
When your new Gronk, you can do it. You can
go for it.
Speaker 9 (32:30):
So New Gronk did the job, and it was a
fantastic impression. Thank you Joey, and thank you Gronk for
playing along.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
I just like the dancing in the movie.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
We all got into it in a moment.
Speaker 8 (32:40):
It felt like we were talking to two Gronks.
Speaker 4 (32:43):
That was his twin brother. For sure, he belongs in
the Gronk family.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
I do think now we just need mol and Arrow
at the ready at all times with impressions of anyone
we're interviewing, because he can get away with anything at
this point, like, oh, we have kind of a dicey topic.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Get Joey in here. We can ask him about Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
And what he's been doing this offseason.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
It was perfect. It was perfect.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
And shout out to that walk viewer for making an
unofficial top five and putting that Segmond in it. Since
the beginning of time on GMFB, speaking of our show
time for Food for Thought presented by The Farmer's Dollars,
two nights on NFL Network, the top ten players of
twenty twenty four will be revealed. Here is what numbers
twenty through eleven looked like. This has been a slow
(33:24):
roll on the network all week long. Guys, what stands
out to you as the top one hundred section has unfolded.
Here we go twenty through eleven off far.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
Eure a first.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Well this morning.
Speaker 8 (33:34):
Right here, I'm looking straight at MICHAEH.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
Parsons.
Speaker 8 (33:36):
Michael Parson at the number seventeen spot just doesn't look right.
Michael Parsons should not be behind Dak Prescott. In fact,
he should be. I'm cool with Dak Prescott, love Dak Prescott.
He should be at that sixteen spot. But I think
Michael Parsons needs to be in the top ten. Why
he's only only he joins Reggie White as the only
other player with three in his first three seasons to
(34:00):
have thirteen plus sex. Like, you know how hard that
is to come out that we're talking about Hall of
Famer Reggie White, the late great Reggie White. But this
is the way he impacts the game. I love his
game since day one he came into the league. I've
just been looking at Mike. There are guys who make
plays and you can run off all the stats, but
when I watch it, I see how he impacts and
(34:20):
how the lines have to adjust to him, and how
they have to game plan just for Michael Parsons. That's
how you know you have a game changer. So I'm
putting him in the top ten for sure.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Hey that man.
Speaker 9 (34:31):
Yeah, and Ochbar to your point, I'm looking at this
twenty to eleven, like Max Crosby's in the top ten?
Is Max Crosby better than Michael Parsons. These are the
conversations that will have when you look at this top
one hundred list. I would think teams game plan for
both of them, but they might look at Michael Parsons
as the more dangerous player. On the other side of all,
it's a the way at seventeen.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Similarly, Josh Allen at twelve.
Speaker 9 (34:51):
I mean to me, it's like it's Mahomes and it's
Josh Allen, and it's Burrow and Lamar and like those
are your top four quarterbacks, and you might throw in
a Rogers or a Stafford or.
Speaker 10 (35:02):
A Strap, But like twelve even players better than are
there are eleven.
Speaker 9 (35:05):
Players you'd start a team with before Josh Allen.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
Absolutely not. This is a ridiculous number to me.
Speaker 9 (35:11):
I think Josh Allen is a top three player, if
not top five, if we're being generous to other guys.
Quarterbacks the most important position. Buffalo Bills are in the
playoffs every single year. This guy throws him on his
back and goes, how's Josh Allen not in the top
ten twelve?
Speaker 5 (35:25):
That's egregious to me. Well, again, it's not a fact.
It is what the players think of him and how
the players vote them. So reads of that what you will.
I look at CJ. Stroud, who is at twenty after
one season of football, one very good season. I like
to find out these guys' debuts the first time they
ever appear on the list. I said, oh, I sec.
Twenty is a super super high debut. You didn't start
(35:47):
off this soft thing when you're sixty four, work your
way into the thirties and twenty top ten. Who knows
twenty is incredible and it speaks to how good he
was last year, but also how much people respect him. Also,
FYI looked it up. What is the highest debut ever
for a player? All right, in the history of the
Top one hundreds going on for years, in years and years,
when a player first appears in the top one hundred,
(36:08):
what is the highest debut ever? Peter says he has
a guest. Peter go ahead and guests, I would.
Speaker 9 (36:11):
Guess because in his second season he won the MVP.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
I would guess Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson debuted on the
Top one hundred list at number one.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
Wow, I was number clear one.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
Following his MVP season. Yes, I'm Mahomes who after his
second season was unbelievable. Lamar is won, So C J.
Stroud twenty is pretty incredible, not even close to Lamar
at one. That's the market arter spoiling it.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
That's okay.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
At this point you feel badly that Lamar just didn't
get put on the list, like as a rookie, just
put him on there. We haven't seen a single snap
of football yet he should living on there. I looked
at this list and well, first of all, I see
dollar signs for Jerry Jones.
Speaker 5 (36:47):
Sorry because the fact.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
That these three names sit on this board eleven through
twenty is crazy. But Justin Jefferson at eighteen and mind
boggling to me for a couple of reasons, the fact
that I think he is a better wide receiver than
at eighteen, Peter, I like how you phrased that, Like
do you really have seventeen more important players in the
league than a Justin Jefferson in terms of the Vikings offense?
But also what direction does this go in without Kirk Cousins.
(37:09):
Now I'm a little worried. Justin Jefferson got paid, and
that's great and I'm happy for his bank account, but
how does the Vikings offense progress with him? In terms
of Sam Darnold, JJ McCarthy, where this team is going,
the division that they play in. I can't believe there's
such a difference between Ceede Lamb at thirteen and Justin
Jefferson at eighteen. But that stood out to me, And
(37:30):
then when I looked at the bigger picture, I'm just
a little worried about the movement, if you will.
Speaker 8 (37:36):
And you know what I think or what I would
love to know. And maybe this is a Peter question,
like when do they get the players to actually do
this polling because if it's during training camp, I know
this for a fact, you're tired, you don't feel like
filling anything out. This is ridiculous because it looks like
they were playing a very bad joke on Justin Jefferson.
(37:57):
Look at this board over here again, he wears number eighteen.
Maybe they got confused in them this is number eighteen.
Oh yeah, he should be eighteen, Like, well, no, he's
not the number eighteenth.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Player in the league, right, are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Come on, Peter, speak some truth to this.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Peter, Do you know this? Do they do it twin camp?
Speaker 5 (38:16):
Yeah, they don't do it dirt turning. They do it
during the season.
Speaker 9 (38:18):
They'll grab the guys and they'll throw them in after
like a practice and they'll be like, can you fill
out this ballot to the voter's credit, which is the players?
It's complicated. It's like twenty twenty four and like the
face of Jefferson was hurt last year, so I'm sure
a lot of them were like, I can't put Jefferson
ahead of CD, who's having a career season.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
But if you're looking at it just blank slate and you're.
Speaker 9 (38:35):
Looking at a top one hundred players, justin Jefferson, who
I believe was number.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Two last year overall.
Speaker 9 (38:40):
Really I think so, Like I think Justin Jefferson, to
your point, Jamie is top ten.
Speaker 5 (38:45):
Handsful to what Jamie's saying is look ahead, like where
does Jefferson land next year? Like, just look into the future.
He's going to be playing with some combination of Donald
McCarthy or maybe just one of them. Is he going
to be up at ten next year? After this season,
when like everyone is looking at all three of the
other teams in their division with the Vikings and not
as much them, I would take a shot and I
will say Jefferson will actually be in the twenties next year.
(39:07):
And I know that's negative, but I'm going to second healthy.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
He'll go up.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
That's for a greater that's for a greater conversation. Number
one in our hearts and on the personality charts. So
we'll circle back to Rob Gronkowski. The way we started
this segment, he was on our show. He sent us
off in style, and now we officially have a top
five segment on GMFB.
Speaker 5 (39:25):
I mean, look at this, like rank that's broke Wave.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
Please somebody, because you got the original.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
And then you got.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
To commit.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
And then he says, Okay, I'll do it because everybody
else is doing it.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
I want to get it.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Good football
