Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
What a gift.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
These final four teams are welcome inside Good Morning Football,
presented my old trapper Beef Yrkey. That's what we say
to get the show started anytime now. We're live in
LA and New York. It's Friday, January twenty fourth. Here's
Akbar bush be a Millipeter Straker, Kyle Brandt. I'm Jamie Erdall.
Let's inspect the AFC Championship first, Shallby, We're gonna get
right down to business. We've got a lot to do.
In this first segment of the show. It's Patrick Mahomes
(00:47):
in pursuit of a third straight Super Bowl championship. It's
Josh Allen, who has started thirteen playoff games, which is
the most by any quarterback before reaching a Super Bowl.
He's experienced in.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
These games at least. Guys.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
The one thing that you think will decide its bills
this Sunday.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
Jumping in right away?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
No, hello, no pleasantes? I like it? Nope, good and
right into it. Good.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Okay, Well, we're showing a lot of Chiefs highlights, but
let's bring the camera out Old Peter Schreger here.
Speaker 6 (01:22):
Yeah, never mind Kelsey and Mahomes at Schrager Show.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
The star of the show here, the star of the weekend. Yeah,
here's how it is. I'm so excited for this game.
I truly am. I think this is how it was
supposed to be.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
For Alan to get there, Alan had to go through Mahomes.
Alan had to do it in the playoffs. Alan had
to do it in their building. Do you know how
good you have to be to beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
You have to be perfect. You have to be absolutely perfect.
Speaker 5 (01:50):
Do you know who the most perfect team in NFL
history has been on offense as far as not making mistakes,
It's been the twenty twenty four Buffalo Bilters. Let's see
the numbers and what we call a full screen here.
They have been the best team in all of football
history as far as turnovers in a regular season. The
(02:13):
Saints would have two in the playoffs, which makes them
the second best or the third. The Bills are that team.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Guess what. They've only given.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Up fourteen sacks this season.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Guess what's that? The best?
Speaker 5 (02:27):
Number three, that's the best in the league. You have
to bring that on Sunday they have to be the
best they've ever been because the Chiefs defense, if they
do one thing, they enter the door when opportunity knocks,
turnover machine.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
And especially in the big games.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Last week, I looked at the Texans, I said, Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Here comes this heat.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Texans gave up eight sacks, missed two field goals, and missed.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
An extra point.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Can't do it.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
That's I don't care.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
If you think the refs are giving you the game
and the refs are favoring the Chiefs, you will never
win an NFL game when you're sacked eight times and
you have two miss field goals and the Bills don't
make mistakes.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
The Bills don't make mistakes.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
These things don't happen against the Bills this season. They
don't turn the ball over, they don't miss chippy field goals,
they don't.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Shoot themselves in the foot. What will ultimately.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Decide this game is if the Bills play the way
the Bills have played for twenty weeks this NFL season,
eighteen regular season weeks, two playoff weeks, the Bills can
beat the Chiefs. Hell, I'll say it, the Bills will
beat the Chiefs if they play that mistake free football
that they have played.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
All season long.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
However, however, something quirky happens when they get into that
building or they play that team in January. I think
they slayed a dragon last week when Mark Andrews dropped
that ball.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
I think some.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Ghosts died somewhere and some horrible jinks and some curse
might have gone with it.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
You start throwing the ball all over the yard, you.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Start giving up sacks, you start missing field goals.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
You ain't beating the Chiefs and Arrowhead.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
If the Bills play like they've played all season, they
will be playing in a super boom. If they revert
back to some other era and they play like they
play in January against the Chiefs, sorry, it's gonna be
a long.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
Are we gonna be talking about Tyler Bass on Monday?
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Peter?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
I don't want to be.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
I don't want to be either unless.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
It's a game winner maybe and it's something positive, or
the Chiefs just being like, you miss an extra point,
you ain't beating the Chiefs. Little stuff like that. I
want to tell a story and I'm gonna give it
a facto prediction. Yesterday I went to my daughter's school.
I had to pick her up from school early. She
had an appointment, so you have to sign her out
and you have to stand there for a few minutes.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
When she comes from her classroom.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
There's the security guy here who works the school. I
love this guy, and he's chatting me up classic as
we're sitting there. So, who do you got in Chiefs
Bills this week? I don't know, this should be a
good game. He go'll tell you what I think Buffalo's
doing it? Oh really, he goes, that is if the
refs let the Bills play. And I'm like, you know,
that's interesting. That's real talk. That is not someone who's
(05:11):
on a talking head show. It's not even someone on Twitter.
It's just a real conversation that people are having in
real football fans around the.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
World this week.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
I just don't think there needs some clarification before we
play this game, because if that is already set up
and that's how people think, I want you to know
the facts going into this weekend, and the facts are
this this season, Patrick Mahomes has had six personal foul
penalties drawn six Josh Allen has had ten. If you
want to go back a little bit further, since Josh
Allen came into leaks. It's twenty eighteen. Patrick Mahomes has
(05:40):
had thirty nine personal fouls drawn. Josh Allen has had
sixty two sixty two. So do not come in here
and go into this weekend and say the Chiefs get
all the calls, all the referees. The numbers do not
bear that out. Here's the thing. Mahomes does bait and
he does flop. He does, and it's annoying. Admittedly number
(06:03):
one Josh Allen, number two. I think Mahomes nos with
his football IQ that this offense is not going to
put up.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Forty points, not this year.
Speaker 6 (06:12):
And I think he deploys every ounce of gamesmanship and
savvy that he can. You can call it cheap, I
call it Belichick. You in, you squeeze every last drop
and you find every loophole of advantage and then you
win rings. And yes, it's human nature. Officials are aware
of stars. It is an unwritten ancillary benefit you get.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
From so much winning.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
You know who had twenty one free throws in Game
two of the ninety seven finals. It was Michael Jordan.
It's the same series he pushed off of Brian Russell.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
We all know need to get the call. It happens.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
The Jazz lost because they blew it and because they
couldn't close.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
But I do think that.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
It happed the fact that the Chiefs got those calls
allegedly last week and everyone lost their minds about it
all week. Is the best thing that could happen for
the Bills this week, because the officials, human beings, flesh
and blood, are aware. They're aware of the controversy, They're
aware of the uproar, and I think will be especially
(07:15):
locked in on Mahomes and what is versus what is
not a penalty. I do not think the officials will
be the story of this game, or even a huge factor.
I think the factor will be football, and I think
in twenty twenty five, the Bills are better at football
than the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
No, it has nothing to do with last year.
Speaker 6 (07:35):
It has nothing to do with thirteen seconds or with
coin tosses.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Just football. And I close with this.
Speaker 6 (07:41):
For thirty years for this organization and seven years with
this quarterback, this franchise and these fans have been in
a cage. The team that holds the key to that
cage is Kansas City. Now, there will be bad breaks
this weekend. There will be penalties and the Chiefs will
fight like hell. But I think in the end the
Buffalo Bills will be coming out of their cage and
(08:03):
they'll be just fine. Bill's twenty nine cheats twenty five referees.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Who cares.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
That's my prediction and that's my take.
Speaker 7 (08:16):
Wow, I'm highly impressed you went there. You gave your take,
you gave your score. I love your point in the
fact that you're talking about penalties with Josh Allen, But
you know what those are the quantities when you come
to the penalties. I think a lot of the fans
and the people who are speculating about the referees and
their decision, they're talking about the quality and when they happen.
(08:37):
Let me tell you, in this game, it's gonna come
down to the s and it's gonna be the s
on the chest of Patrick Mahomes and those SS's are
situational football, and that's what Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas
City Chiefs. They do so well situationally. They are out
there and they're crushing it. Patrick Mahomes may not be
(08:58):
putting up the big numbers like he used to. He
may not be having he doesn't have ty reek down
there to throw those big bombs. In fact, he's not
even that efficient when it comes to those big, big plays.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
But what we do know.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
Is when it comes down to third down conversions, he's there.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
He is clutched.
Speaker 7 (09:12):
Fourth down conversion he has been clutched this season. He's
top five and completion percentage when it counts or when
he throws it and when he's trying to make a play.
He does it when it matters the most, and that
is to sustain drives. That's the other s being able
to sustain drives. That's what they do. They take control
of the game. And of course we can go back
to that last you know, twenty twenty one game, not
(09:33):
the last one, but the twenty twenty one divisional game,
and what he did he came down there for the
last s which is scored. He knows how to score
when it matters most. He wears that s on his chest.
He is situationally savvy, savvier than And you can throw
all the numbers out.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
There, and I get it.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
I get you, Josh Allen.
Speaker 7 (09:50):
The numbers are great, they look fine, perfect, but you
got to get that W. You got to get that W.
So I'm giving my final score in this game, which
is the Kansas City Chiefs are going to score twenty
eight points and the Buffalo Bills twenty points. Another twenty score.
They always tend to win by one score. I'm giving
it to the Kansas City Chiefs. They're going for history,
(10:12):
They're going for the trilogy. We can't use three p
that belongs to pat Riley. This is the trilogy for
the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
The rest of my case, Okay, one for the Bills,
one for the Chiefs. Peter, you're not going right now.
You just wanted to make your case about what you
wanted to talk, turnovers and taking.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Care of the football.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I appreciate it. You know, The Killers and mister Bright'side
is one of the most popular football songs ever. And
the fact that Kyle, who hates the most popular thing,
who doesn't like to go mainstream, just wanted to apply
it to the Bills. Winning the AFC title game means
the Bills are going to become mainstream and football Kyle?
Is that the parallel you're trying to make. I can't
believe you went with mister Bright's side, Jamie.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
What gotta gotta be down?
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Because I want it all all right, I do have
to weigh in on the.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Mister Brightside thing.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
Cant the content well, Jamie, they played it in the
third quarter, the fourth quarter, and every week now that
every week of the Bills games. And as a woman
who's married to a Michigan alum, you know that the
Michigan Wolverines have been doing that for many years and
the Ravens were doing seven Nation Army for years and
years in Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
I'm watching the game on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
The Bills are doing seven nation Army, which was done
by the Ravens. They're doing mister Bright's side by the Killers,
which was done by Michigan. You've got the Google dolls
right there in your own mark.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
You have the Google dolls.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
If you want to play Slide, if you want to
play Black Blue Virus, if you want to play Iris, Like,
there will be an amazing thing about Bills fans.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
I love you, and you're not in the home game anyway.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
But like for next year, maybe not just take from
other organizations.
Speaker 6 (11:43):
Do your own thing for at sake of full disclosure,
I think I know a little bit about the origins.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Okay, go Google, alright, I sound out of school.
Speaker 6 (11:50):
Oh, some people trace the origins of story. So there
was a very popular video. I believe it was at
Dawson Knox's wedding. Okay, and Josh and Dawson and all
the guys are out there to dance floor and they're screaming,
let's see Anita, and so I think people in love
with that clip and then they started playing It. Doesn't
mean you're wrong, Peter, I'm just telling you. I think
what the inspiration was it forty long way.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Down like there's a lot of choices.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Yeah, there's a lot of mame a chiefs to play
slide by the Google calls and then they're trying to
bait Patrick Mahomes into taking care of business and then
he can get one of you exactly those calls that.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Don't slide right. I that's good jam, Good morning to you.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
When our show completed yesterday, names were to stay put
in their respective jobs. Today, a different story when it
comes to Liam Cohen, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the
Jacksonville Jaguars, and the fact that the Jaguars are continued
to be in search of a new GM and a
new head coach. However, another development.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
This morning that search for a new head coach for
the Jacksonville Jaguars has in fact ended, sources tell the
Insiders Liam Cohen is expected to be the new coach
of the Jacksonville Jaguars. So that's the news, But that
is not close to the entire story.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Here.
Speaker 8 (13:05):
Let me go back about two days for Liam Cohen.
Of course we know by now he agreed to a
deal with Tampa Bay Buccaneers to remain in Tampa, pull
himself out of the coaching race for the Jacksonville Jaguars,
stayed to become one of the highest paid offensive coordinators
in football. The deal was basically done. Not basically it
was done. The Tampa Bay Bucks just wanted to get
(13:26):
to Liam Cohen, really talked to him about some staff
and make sure he came in and sign it then
kind of move along. They could not reach him, They
cannot find him, they cannot get.
Speaker 7 (13:34):
Him on the phone.
Speaker 8 (13:35):
An awkward twenty four hours went by, and at that
time it became clear like something is going on the Jaguars. Meanwhile,
their situation changed dramatically. Trend Bulky, the general manager, got
a great reputation in the NFL despite stocking a really,
really good team town wise in Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
He was fired.
Speaker 8 (13:53):
Liam Cohen, I would say at that point, was like,
you know what, maybe I still sort of have interest
in Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
We'll see.
Speaker 8 (13:59):
Yesterday afternoon, owner Shad Cohn reached out, continued conversation, sent
the plane.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Which is a great move. You're an owner, always send
the plane. Sent the plane to Liam Cohen.
Speaker 8 (14:10):
Yesterday afternoon, flew to Jacksonville, got in their building, made
his pitch, and received the pitch for him to be
the next coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. And last night,
at about one ten am, not about exactly one ten am,
the deal was done. Liam Cone informed Tampa that he
was out expected to be the new coach of the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Peter announced this morning. Yeah, Ian, obviously, great reporting by
you guys. You guys were on it from go.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
The thing that I had earlier in the day was
that like Tampa couldn't find Liam Cohen. So the day before,
as Ian says, he agrees to be the OC, and
then it's like, all right, we've got this deal put together.
He's gonna be paid crazy money, the most money for
an offensive coordinator, and I just got to put.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Ink on the paper.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
Okay, come on in No texts, no calls, no nothing,
They reach out to his agent, nothing, dark gun. He
was with Jacksonville the whole time. He was with Jacksonville
the whole time. Now we could say if he's unethical
for that, or he could say, gosh, there's thirty two
jobs and the Jaguars are gonna pay him top dollar.
It's America, go get your money. But I would just
put this at like, this is not what happens every day.
(15:14):
The NFL continues to show us that there is always
a news story and a new way these things can unfold.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
At one am.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
He agrees in principle to be the jaguars next head coach,
but I can tell you he still personally has not
had that much contact with the Buccaneers folks, and the Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Folks are none too pleased.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
They felt like they got pod wing tear and now
Baker Mayfield has to go find another offensive coordinator for
the fourth straight year.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Oh my gosh, I can imagine. I cannot imagine what
they must feel like. That was awesome job by Ian
and Peter. Thank you for the clarification. We'll have some
time to review the story in the off season. But
we've got games to look at. Saquon Barkley wearing an
Eagles jersey. It's been a journey for him. We will
review two games this weekend. Bill's Chiefs, Commander's Eagles. There
it must be one thing you absolutely know, without a
(16:00):
shadow of it out will happen this weekend.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
We will lay it all out kiled x.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
And Oh, we will lay it out, Jamie, and we
will also talk stars all over the field.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
We know the big names, Daniel Saquon, Alan Mahomes. It's
definitely saysn't prompter Mahome.
Speaker 6 (16:15):
Allan's Daniel Saquon.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Notice it doesn't say Hurts.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
We say the three quarterbacks and we say the Eagles
running back.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Is that not telling?
Speaker 6 (16:21):
We're just guilty as everybody else who's going to New Orleans.
We'll talk about it, Jalen Hurts, are you going do something?
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Good Morning Football?
Speaker 3 (16:41):
All right, here's this slate for this weekend.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
We are down to the final two games the NFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
The NFC Championship.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
First up, the Commanders visit Philadelphia for the third time
this year. They will play each other, and then what
feels like the one hundredth time in the postseason, the Bills.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
And the Chiefs will tee off on CBS.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
That will be your final game before we head to
New Orleans. Emotionally and physically, one of those to those
four teams will end up in New Orleans in a
couple of weeks. But let's talk about these games this weekend.
We are going to boldly proclaim one thing that you
know will happen this weekend. Peter, this is a crystal
ball moment. It's something you are very good at.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
You start us off.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
I want to talk about Travis Kelcey, who.
Speaker 5 (17:23):
Emerged from the catacombs and had one of his great
playoff games last week.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
As he always does.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
You look at Travis Kelcey in the playoffs, he becomes
a different player than he does in September. In October,
and if you look at his all time ranks, it
will astound you just how good Kelsey is in the playoffs,
no matter the age, no matter what season.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Into his career.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
If we could take a look at Kelsey over the
course of NFL history, where he ranks in the postseason,
he is the most catches ever, the second most receiving
yards ever. He's got the most hundred yard receiving game.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
More than every other player, more than Jerry Rice.
Speaker 6 (17:59):
You're not supposed to ever have more than something than Rice.
You don't beat Rice records, it doesn't happen.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
And he's got it and don't.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Do it an He's number two in the other categories
and last week it was like, oh, you thought I
was done. He was all over the field making big
play after big play. Travis Kelsey is gonna be a
huge part of this game.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
That is not some choker.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
If you watch the Chiefs during this era, he's always
a huge part. Sounds like Taylor Rap might not play
on Sunday for the Buffalo Bills. Taylor Rap's been an
outstanding safety for them, especially in this playoff run.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
He's probably out due to injury.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
Matt Mulano and slot Taron Johnson could go, but they
are beat up with a hamstring and a shoulder injury.
Christian Benford had a concussion, which leads to the Cold
Bishop game.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Who is Cole Bishop?
Speaker 6 (18:49):
That's a quality control coach in a Jersey Have you
guys heard or seen that face?
Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's Cold Bishop?
Speaker 5 (18:56):
The rookie safety out of Utah for the Buffalo Bills,
whose task will be trying to slow down the greatest
receiver in NFL playoff history, that is the guy twenty
two years University of Utah. And if we showed you
(19:17):
Kelsey's numbers, we wouldn't want to do with this service.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
To the great Colt Bishop.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
With his.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Forty tackles, two passes defended, a forced bubble, a tackle
for a loss.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
The thing that I know will happen, the one thing
I know will happen.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
Cole freaking Bishop is gonna have to make a play.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Cold Bishop. Step right up, Cold Bishop.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
If the Buffalo Bills and these sixties seventy years of
agonizing fans are ever going to Toyster Lombardo.
Speaker 7 (19:53):
Even get the chance to go back there for the
first time.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Since the nineties, Cold Bishop has to make a play.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
Cold Bishop, rookie, second year out of Utah, our second
round pick out of Utah.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Looks like he could be your paper delivery boy.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
And if you don't deliver papers anymore in America because
everyone gets it over email, there's no such thing as newspaper.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
What is a paper? He looks like he could have
been your paper delivery boy.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
The last time the Bills went to the Super Bowl,
back when those things happened, Cold Bishop's got to make
a play.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
That's my statement. Cold Bishop, step right up.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
You can either be a Bills legend or he could
be one of the many names that Travis Kelce has
terrorized over the course of his career.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
And he's already got a nickname, the paper Boy. That
Cold Bishop just off a BMX bicycle.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Let's go.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Come on, hold the paper Boy against the greatest tight end.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Of all times. My god, that's great.
Speaker 6 (20:49):
All right, I'm gonna go to the I'm gonna go
to the NFC is he does have to have good
routes and be aware of the routes. Do you guys
know Peter does not Peter Hopeless on this? Do you
guys know who Crab and Goyle are? Anybody crab and
girls that mean anything too?
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (21:01):
All right, Crab and Goyle are the two meat ed
kids who protects Draco Malfoy. Everywhere he goes, Draco is
always popping. He's as crabbing Goyle behind him. I was like, oh,
I won't mess with Dracobs. They got Crab and Goyle
this weekend Crabbing Goyle in the NFC tititle game, I'm
gonna be Lane Johnson and Jordan may Alatta. Why because
the one thing I know it's going to be happening,
They're going to be some scrapping and some barking. In
(21:22):
the Washington versus Philadelphia game, Why because they much put upon.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Eagles quarterback, who was also dealing with injuries.
Speaker 6 (21:29):
Was straight up called out, not on Twitter by one
of the players, but in an otherwise normal, perfunctory, sleepy
press conference by the Commander's defensive coordinator. Joe Witt Junior,
decided to fire this one across the bow.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
The one thing is is if he's going to run
the ball, and if the coordinator makes a decision for
him to run the ball, we're going to treat him
like a running back and we're going to hit him
that way. That's their decision if they want to get
him hit the way that he gets hit. If they don't,
they'll keep me in the pocket. So that's that's what
we're going to do.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
So do you understand how that is going over in Philadelphia?
He basically just spin on the ground in front one
of them and said.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Let's go. We're gonna hit your guy.
Speaker 6 (22:06):
That is a call to action from everyone in the
Philadelphia offensive line, everyone in the Philadelphia grand stands, because
are you aware of a player in the Commander's named
Frankie Luvu who is out there to knock people around
and has done it to Hurts before.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
That is saying like, the second he moves, we're hitting him.
Speaker 6 (22:21):
We are hitting him first, second, and third, We're going
to hit that injured quarterback of yours. That's all Philadelphia
needs as a city, as a team at his organization
and Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailatta if Hurts runs, which
I don't even know if he will, will be there
ready to do whatever they have to do to protect him.
Crab Goyle, Slitherin, they're even green. It's absolutely perfect. One
thing I know will happen extracurriculars. Francas Fraccas. I still
(22:45):
don't know how to pronounce this, Donny Brook.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
It's going on.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
These are division opponents, guys. This is not like, oh,
we see them twice a year every year, and they
know they're going to see Jayden for years.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
They're gonna see Jalen for years.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Ring the bell, jeer Ry Jerry, get you do you
think John.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Runyon, who runs all the discipline and gives out the
fun right.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
Question, I know where you're going as a We're going
Eagle seeing Washington chatter like this and an offensive coordinator time,
do you think running?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Maybe let's go of the rains a little bit here
and says, you know what, Eagles commanders.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Just go out.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
Either that or he stands up and London Fletcher runs
in from the true chair hits him over the head.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Let's go. It's Washington, Philly. Let's love that game.
Speaker 7 (23:23):
Hey, I would actually love to see London Fletcher come
out with a chair. That would actually be epic. Bringing
the WWE to the NFL, that would be epic. You
know what else is that epic? And what I know
for sure will happen this championship Sunday. AJ Brown's inner excellence, yes,
will produce his outer excellence. Let me read this because
(23:44):
I was talking Kyle.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
I know you like this.
Speaker 7 (23:46):
I was talking to Jim Murphy the author last night,
and I say, sure, a passage that really describes what
will happen with AJ Brown.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
I have him on text.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
I'll show you, guys, I'll show you the proof of
our of our correspondence here it says the process of success,
to be true to yourself is to focus on winning
the battle, the one within, and the toughest battle for
Aj Brown from within has been in this playoffs. He's
had three catches twenty four yards. It has not been productive.
(24:15):
And yet he has to stay the course and he
has to stay within himself and know his production. His
outer excellence is absolutely needed in this game. We need
to see full on AJ Brown. And I know that
this offense runs through Saquon Barkley. But when you think
about the Washington Commanders in that last game against the
Detroit Lions, they.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Put up forty five points.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
They put up forty five points, and I'm sorry, you're
not scoring forty five points Philadelphia Eagles. If you're just
running Sakuon Barkley, that's going to be extreme challenge for you.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Guys.
Speaker 7 (24:49):
We know that this Washington Commanders offense the fifth ranked
offense scoring offense in the league during the regular season.
They can put up points when they want to. That
dynamic rookie and Jaden Daniels he has been he has
been dynamic, he's been special. So AJ Brown, I'm saying,
you have to have an outer excellence in this game.
For you guys to have a chance. You go, what
do you mean, Ocbard to have a chance. Yeah, because
(25:11):
I've got the Washington Commanders. That's what I know for sure.
The Washington Commanders are winning this game. I couldn't even
hold it. I want to hold until the next block.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
They're winning this game. Okay, that is one you go
from AJ Brown Outer Excellence interact. It's like commanders are winning. Yes, yep, yep,
so yep.
Speaker 7 (25:28):
If they want to have an opportunity, I'm putting it
out there. I'm putting the challenge. If they want to
have an opportunity, you got to have the outer excellence
from the inter excellence of AJ.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Brown. That's the only chance that they have. But the
Commanders will win what the commanders will right.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
So in this segment so far, the characters we have
at play are Jim Murphy, Crab and Goyle the paper Boy.
Now let me bring lean Ordo DiCaprio into the conversation, Okay, go.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
On, Okay, So yesterday we had that great.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
SoundBite from Josh Allen from the play over the weekend
against the Baltimore Ravens where he's at the goal line
He turns around and he is considering Kyle said it
so perfectly, the devil on his shoulder, considering flicking this
ball into the backfield the.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Lateral for a touchdown. Instead, he holds onto it.
Speaker 4 (26:09):
He takes care of the ball, and thus we are
birth the Buffalo Bills, who have not turned the ball
over this postseason. Here's the clip, just who we can review,
so I can really set the stage here.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Josh Allen, all right.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Looks like there was a moment where you thought about
laddering the ball back change.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Look, did that go through your head?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
No, would young Josh Allen have done that. He would
have done it. Yes, it may have crossed the mind,
but yeah, I didn't do it.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
The thing about Josh Allen being so sneaky and having
that devilish little smile in that clip is that while
he may have thought about it, he also has friends
that participate in some of those kind of crazy, wild
plays like that. May I take you back to Week
thirteen against the San Francisco forty nine ers when we
were gifted this play that involved Josh Allen the lateral
from Amari Cooper to Josh Allen to cross the goal
(27:00):
line in the snow in the blizzard. The Bills would
go on to beat San Francisco forty nine ers that weekend.
Of course, the fact that while that wasn't Josh Allen's
decision that day, it was Amari Cooper's, and then we
were all gifted a smile on Amari Cooper's face after
that play, saying I can't believe I play with the.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Quarterback like that.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Who's that crazy to come from? Ahi me and say
I'll be the devil on Amari Cooper's shoulder.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Lateral me the ball, give it back to me, and
all cross the goal line.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Leonardo DiCaprio Two famous memes. My favorite memes are the
ones where he's got the cigarette and the beer in
his hand and he's looking like a craze man with
a cigarette in his mouth, and he's like this, I
think we're gonna get a play from the Bills from
Josh Allen that makes us go, you said you were
going to do that anymore? And like he's all crazy
because of his conspiracy. And then I think we are
going to be gifted the champagne toast to the Buffalo
(27:47):
Bills because I think the Bills are going to beat
the Chiefs this weekend, and we're just gonna go.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Cheers.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Josh Allen, You're crazy quarterback. You do weird things at times.
We're along for the ride, and I see you, Josh Allen.
That's what I know is gonna happen this time.
Speaker 6 (28:00):
Well, Jamie, I love to take there is one very
famous to real meme that the Chiefs might be doing this,
the one where he's got the drink he's going.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
From Djengo. That might be the kens.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Segos laughing about it, right, Yeah, I see that one.
Speaker 5 (28:14):
And also that long walk through the Titanic that we
see before that thing goes down.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Let's hope it's not that right, all right.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
It wouldn't be me without producing some memes from the
Chiefs fans.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Though.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
All right, here we go. What's up, Woody, Everything's move
him on the field right now. Now, I've been thinking
about a guest before. All right, squabble up, guys.
Speaker 10 (28:43):
You can watch the Apple Music Super Bowl fifty nine
halftime show featuring Yes Kendrick Lamar with Sizza and others
coming your way, February ninth on Fox Now. Raven's tight
End Mark Andrews finally making a statement since his uncharacteristic
miscues in Sunday's Divisional round loss to the Bills. Remember
we had that costly fumble even dropping the game tying
(29:06):
two point conversion. Well, Andrews breaking his silence with a
lengthy post on Instagram saying he's quote absolutely gutted by
what happened on Sunday. Andrews going on the same part
he is devastated for his teammates, coaches, and Ravens fans,
but adding he won't let the moment define him in
the adversity will make him stronger and fuel him moving forward.
(29:28):
Andrew's adding he is appreciative to those who donated to
his foundation. Now, the NFL announcing the dates for the
twenty twenty six NFL Draft, presented by bud Light, will
take place in Pittsburgh, Mark, your calendar is April twenty
third through the twenty fifth, as the event will be
held at Pittsburgh North Shore Point State Park and Akershure Stadium.
And I can tell you Mark Andrews is always just
(29:50):
to circle back, very gracious with his time whenever I
was in at Ravens locker room, so to say, the
fact that he didn't speak until then truly a testament
to how he is feeling. And we wish Mark the
best and no he will bounce back. But coming up next,
Peter and Kyle will be joined by NFL analyst Charles Davis.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
They're in studio.
Speaker 10 (30:09):
We're diving into the games this weekend.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Stay here with us.
Speaker 5 (30:24):
Good Welcome back to Good Morning Football. We're so thrilled
to have a friend of the family here.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
You've seen this guy on.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
Our NFL Draft coverage, NFL Combine coverage. She's called games
on the NFL network, have been doing the Senior Bowl,
but he also calls games on Sunday on CBS.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Mister Charles Davis, welcome.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
You guys. Got to hang out with you a little
bit last night, and then I came and bombarded your
day today.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
That's right, we're out clubing last night.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I got us a table, we got bottle service was amazing.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
We're hungover.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
You want to do it, We're gonna do it right
now to tell the audience what we did last night
and how we were so honored to be a part
of a pretty cool movie screen.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Yeah, let's let's let's try a nutshell at Buddy Tevens,
the Great coach at Dartmouth and other places who we
tragically lost. A couple of years ago. They did a
movie about his life called The Buddy Way Omaha Productions,
Peyton Manning executive producer, and boy did they do it well.
I mean, I think the three of us agreed. We
kind of talked a little bit, We laughed, we cried,
(31:21):
We laughed, we cried, cried, we laughed. It was amazing
and I knew I've known Buddy for many many years.
He and his family. I know you guys knew him
in different different aspects. But for all of us who
knew him loved him, it could not have been a
better tribute. And I want to thank Peyton Manning family,
everyone who was involved, all the people who did it.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
The film is called The Buddy Way. It is premiering
next Wednesday on ESPN two. If you guys want to
check it out. It's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Charles, you're here also to talk a little football though.
Kansas City's going for.
Speaker 5 (31:50):
The Who's laughing and crying and this one, you know
you called so many of these games from these guys
over the years, Like just give us your thoughts.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
Yeah, this is gonna be this gonna be great because
Buffalo knows they can beat them. They've done it. It's
just not in the playoffs. Right. But someone said to
me last night, Hey, when's jo is Josh Allen gonna
get this done? And I went, he's gotten it done
before thirteen seconds left on the clock. It was done.
They didn't get you know that wasn't Josh How about
(32:20):
earlier this year? Wasn't it fourth and two? Yes, he's
still running, Yes, still running touchdown. So it's not that
Josh Allen can't get it done. To me, this game
comes down to Ken. Buffalo turned them over a few
times because can't say he doesn't turn the ball over
the player. Now they don't turn it over in the playoffs.
But Mahome still had an interception in the Super Bowl
last year.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Yeah, that was his first one and how long?
Speaker 3 (32:39):
Right, So if they can get a couple of extra
possessions and give the ball back to Josh Allen, and
then I think to myself, I know Buffalo can beat them.
They know they can beat them if he get those
up a couple of extra possessions and the Bill's Mafia
goes to New Orleans. New Orleans is ready for anything, sure,
but it might be the first time New Orleans goes WHOA,
(33:01):
this is a little.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Different here, Bill's Mafia.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
But you never count out Kansas City. I don't care
how close it's been. I'll just say this. Operate under
this theory. Dynasties. Teams that win over years, the games
are always going to be tight. They always get closer.
Name the Super Bowl, the New England blew out anyone.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
Yeah, it didn't happen. And as the Rams even that
sloppy when they didn't blow them out.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
They don't blow them out. The only blowout Tom Brady
had it in the Super Bowl was with Tampa when
they blow out Kansas City, right right. The better that
you are where people run at you every year. Your
core stays together, but your core gets older, the people
around you have to fill in. It gets harder, hard
or harder, and people lose their you know, their fear factors.
They come at you. And that's what Kansas City is
(33:43):
dealing with right now. But guess who's comfortable with that,
Kansas City. So you mentioned the idea of maybe the
Mafia going to New Orleans.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
What if they get there and it's either Eagles or
commanders man's waiting with them too.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
We landed on a.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
Funny thing with this, Charles, that'd be fun the four
quarterbacks this weekend. Apparently this is what we've landed on
our mahomes, Alan Daniels and Saquon Barkley. That those are
the four guys on her role is fascinating in this game,
we're going back single wing right much.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
It feels that way. Where do you land on Commanders
versus Eagles?
Speaker 3 (34:12):
I love the game, I love the matchup. Jayden Daniels
is a kid that, look you guys, knowing the two
schools in college, being able to play quarterback for Brian
Kelly at Notre Dame because Brian Kelly is an excellent
quarterbacks coach and Brian Kelly is hard on his quarterbacks
so when they come out, they're battle tested and they're
ready to go. And Jaye Daniels is definitely that. The
(34:32):
flip side is we as you pointed out, Jalen Hurts
is getting lost in all this. They've got to be
able to throw the ball effectively. I saw him last
week I did the radio for the game. They just
did not throw the ball effectively, and they have to
in this game. I wouldn't be surprised if Kellen Moore
early in this game calls it in reverse a little bit.
That's when you can have seven, eight, nine around the
(34:53):
line of scrimmage for Barkley first and ten early in
the downs. Give Jalen Hurt some great windows, give him
some throws and try and get AJ Brown going, because
AJ Brown catching the ball is better than AJ Brown
reading about interact it is. It's absolutely right. That's what
you need.
Speaker 5 (35:09):
You're an encyclopedia at the draft. You know all these
guys stories. Zach Bond is one of our favorite show.
Did you ever see this coming? When he's coming out
of Wisconsin? We know he was an early round pick
of the Saints, but they signed him to a one
year deal. He's one of the five finalists for Defensive
Player of the Year, and the Eagles found a gem
in the Zach Bond. Did you ever in a million
years thought you'd see this version of that guy?
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Not this version, because the evaluation I had, I'll just
speak for myself. Outside linebacker, edge rush type. Guy could
do a lot of things. Was a very good player,
but sometimes it takes different eyes and Divick Fangio gets
signed sees the kid and says, you know something, I
think his movement skills, say inside, Hey, is z thatch today?
(35:49):
Go inside? Sometimes it just plays that one and boy,
and now you add in the Kobe Dean being hurt.
Now he adds the green dot. So he's the signal caller.
He's riding a heck of a wave right now. His
confidence can't be higher, and the Philadelphi's confidence in him
could be higher. So No, I saw Mores a outside guy,
kind of like Mike Sandra's still the corner.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
Having an outstanding rook the season.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Thought he was a nickel. Yeah, and that doesn't mean
bad in today's NFL. That's that's a twelve starter. I
thought he was a nickel all day long. They had
to move him outside because they needed to. If Manuel
Forbes didn't play, Saint Juce is struggling, and guess what,
he's a heck of an outside corner too, So you
never know with evaluation. Let's go back to the draft
and talking about Jade Daniels.
Speaker 6 (36:30):
Yeah, you knew he would be good. Did you know
it could be this good? And what do you say
to those who are already redrafting? Maybe in Chicago and
saying why did we take Caleb? How do you look
back on this draft? One season number one? Pump the
brakes on why did we take Caleb? Caleb showed signs
of being that guy.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
There's a lot dysfunction in Chicago around him. It wasn't
just him. Give it some time because remember people gave
Bryce Young up for dead, no doubt the last half
of Let's give it some time on that one. Jade
Daniels know he'd be great, but did I know he'd
be this great? I think it'd be a lie to
say yes, rookie quarterback coming out Washington being in this position. No, no, no,
(37:09):
it was all knows. Liked what they were doing. I
loved the hiring of Dan Quinn, loved the hiring of
Adam Peters. But the idea that they've been the NFC
Championship game, no no, no. But this kid, the extra years,
the extra time in college, this quarterback class got it.
COVID did nothing good for our world, but these kids
were around longer. Go next sixty one starts. Michael Pennix
(37:32):
thirty three and seven record, Jadan Daniels five years, two
different schools. All this has added up very well. For quarterbacks.
They don't have to come out second year written people
forget Sam darvs red shirt sophomore twenty one years old.
Anthony Richardson how many starts in college and starts. These
are the things that this class had that das classes didn't.
(37:55):
And I think we've seen the payoff. Last but not
least Jayden Daniels part of the reason he went back
to Elashie was last year, you know the Deally cut
to go back. Oh, come on, nil deal. Hey, if
I come back, I got to have the code to
the facility twenty four seven. You want to I need
to be here twenty four I need to be able
to get in when I want to get in. Okay, okay,
(38:15):
and I'll come back Wow. Because of the work he
likes to do. Zach Ertz earlier this year, early early,
came into like six in the morning and was going
through heard noise opened the door. Jay Dan was going
through the day's install by himself in a room Earth season.
What are you doing? Told him what he was doing,
and then he says to Ertz, do me a favor.
(38:39):
Don't tell anyone.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Don't make this a thing.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Let's not make it a thing because I look too
much like a try hard. Sh I'm not a tryhard.
It's just what I do and now it's normal. But
at that time, please, Zach, I don't need the team
to think I'm doing maturity amazing.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
It's such a good story. And also Zach Ertz this
week was like, I thank Washington. I fell back in
love with football, and I think it's got to be part.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
Remember what he said, Andrew. He was with Andrew Luck,
Andrew lux his gold standard, and he said, this kid
is Andrew Luck. That's the highest praise that he can
give him. Nobody's in love of football like this guy.
I love it.
Speaker 6 (39:11):
Charles Davis keep our brother, is our colleague and one
of our guys.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Charles David is the best.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
Senior Bowl next week Senior Balls Ball Miller along Senior
Bowl combine. Get to hang together the best.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
We'll be right back
