Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
That's right, this is Good Morning Football, everybody, GMFP. We're
live in LA and New York City. It's Monday, March thirty. First,
I'm Jamie Earl. There's MANSITEO pointing to Kyle Brandt and
Peter Schrager. Kyle Brandt, why do we love Peter Schreger
more today than any other day on the history of GMFP.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Well, Peter said it earlier in the show, and it's
not for me to say, so why don't we go
to the two shot and Peter you can once again
unless anybody's tuning in, and go ahead and say.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
But today is my last day on Good Morning Football.
I've been on this show for nine years. I'll have
a little speech at the end of the show and
kind of say farewell in a real way. But for
you viewers at home, this is the last time you'll
see me in this chair and Kyle Jamie mantye time
we'll work together as a foursome on this show. And
just know how much you guys mean to me and
how specially you are and Kyle especially who has been
(01:12):
with me since day one, one of my best friends
in the world and probably the best teammate I'll ever
have in my career no matter where I end up going.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
So love you, buddy, and let's.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Wrap up our final hour with great pride and let's
do it the way we should hour.
Speaker 5 (01:24):
With thank you, Peter.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
We're going to talk more about it later. There's a
lot of intrigue about where Peter might go next. Not
to spoiler, but Peter's gonna go work for Tesla after this.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Is that right for Tesla?
Speaker 4 (01:32):
And then I have the Pittsburgh Steelers waiting on me
as well, So really I've got some options.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Look good, Okay, what do we got?
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Well, that's perfect because the coaches are speaking right now
in Florida, and I believe we have the head coach
of the Pittsburgh Steelers answering questions as to free agents
he might sign this offseason, whether it be a quarterback
or Peter Schrager.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
It's time for the lead block.
Speaker 7 (01:54):
He's a free agent. As you guys know. He came
to visit last Friday. We had a really productive day.
He's been in this thing a long time. I've been
in this thing a long time. But there's no substitute
for you know, intimacy and spending time together and getting
to know one another in a non competitive environment. And
so that was really good. But I don't have any
(02:16):
new updates in terms of where the process is. We'll
see where it leads us.
Speaker 8 (02:20):
I don't know how anybody could say how hard it
would be. We've never seen a player, you know, necessarily
do it. I think that there are some things that
he can improve on by you know, probably concentrating on
more than all just on one position. But never going
to put any restrictions on Travis or any player. We
(02:42):
try to as much as they can handle, and we're
going to continue to put more on their plate.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
And so if he were on our.
Speaker 8 (02:48):
Football team and he showed a great skill at one
position and it was starting to really do well in
his conditioning and it didn't fall off and it didn't drop,
you know, we would be open to playing everybody that
we had at more than one position. Anything that would
help the football team.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
I would be all in favor of.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Does he have to have a primary though with primary position?
Speaker 8 (03:07):
Well, I think to improve I think there has to
be a primary focus just to be able to get
some of the details that are going to be required
at this league. So you know, we'll see, you know,
once everybody's on our football team where they end up
playing or where they end up starting now in practicing it.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
All right, So Peter Shrigger, you get to take this
direction anyway you will. But I'm really enjoying Mike Brabel
trying to navigate even answering a question of a two
way player. This is a great television and it's great
theater for the offseason.
Speaker 6 (03:34):
Peter, where do you go? Tomlin or Brabel?
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Let's start with Rabel, who had nine touchdowns as a
linebacker in the NFL, and we moved to tight end
in key situations for the New England Papers.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
If that ever was a head coach who'd be open
to the idea, it's a.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Guy who saw his teammate Troy Brown play offense and defense.
A guy who saw in New England Julian Edelman dress
twenty two snaps in an AFC Championship game against the
Baltimore Ravens despite being the team's number one wide receiver.
I think there's an open mindness to Mike Vrabel. But
will Travis Hunt be even available at four, And that's
(04:07):
the question. I think New England really is an interesting
spot here because there are these two quarterbacks and then.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
There's two blue chip players.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
The Browns and the Giants presumably need quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
And if that's the case and you're going cam Ward.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
At number one, I mean, there's a chance the Patriots
are sitting at four and get either Abdul Carter or
Travis Hunter and they can just you know, whistle Sweet
Dixie down the street because they're so excited.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
There's also a chance that.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Cam Ward goes one, Abdull Carter goes too, and the
Giants take Travis Hunter.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
And now you're the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
You're sitting at four, and you're like, are we taking
Ted McMillan here instead?
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Are we going t mac?
Speaker 9 (04:47):
Like?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Is that what we're doing?
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Fascinating spot in the draft. And as much as I
want to talk about Mike Tomlin sweating bullets down there
being asked about Aaron Rod, I mean, I have never
seen Tomlin sweat in my life, and there are dripps.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
It's like Albert Brooks and Network.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I'm so shocked that I'm seeing what's going on with Tomlin.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
There's much Tomlin a different one that's on that as hell,
and I'm not gonna take it anymore, you know what
you are, because you're gonna wait for Rogers.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
That's a different But yeah, that's what it was like.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
And you know, I don't think I think the explanation
once he was coming straight from the gym.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Whatever it is.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Can this be a coincidence?
Speaker 7 (05:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
The Rogers situation has taken on a life of its
own in Pittsburgh, and yet, in all honesty, it's March
thirty first. If he signs April fourth, none of it matters.
So I'm not so sure where we're at with Tomlin
and Rogers. But I thought Rabel was really interesting talking
about Travis Hunter.
Speaker 10 (05:40):
I love what Coach Brabel said about Travis Hunter. I
think remember the last time, well not the last time
I was on the show, but one of the times
I held up the two binders. Yeah, and I depict
that what the playbooks look like in the NFL. I
just love the fact that there's a lot of narrative
and there's a lot of talk of Travis Hunter's ability
to play both sides, and we know that, however, this
is the NFL. Guys, there are masters at their craft
(06:02):
at each position. So this reminds me of the quote
that says jack of all trades.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Master of none.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
You're not going to find that in the NFL.
Speaker 10 (06:09):
The cornerbacks we talked about Patrick Certain he is one
of the best at being a cornerback. He's not somebody
that plays cornerback then sometimes plays plays wide receiver. So
I love that coach Mike Rabel said he's going to
focus on one position first, master that and then based
on his ability to digest information, maybe go in and
play multiple positions. That's just coming from somebody who understands
(06:31):
what it takes to win at the National Football League,
being a professional and being amongst other masters.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
Of their craft.
Speaker 10 (06:38):
And so I think if he does, if Travis Hunter
does go to the Patriots, I think he is set
up perfectly for a long, successful career in the NFL
because he's paired up with somebody.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
Like Mike Grabel.
Speaker 6 (06:49):
I really enjoy seeing Mike Rabel back in that room.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
I think he's a great head coach and I'm sure
he'll get the Patriots going in the right direction. It's
a strange day because, as Peter said, it's Peter's last day.
I'm very distracted by that. But one thing I do
want to address that the insiders brought to the last hour,
which is the concept that Mike Tomlin had a workout
before the media session and then showered and then that's
why he's sweating. Is there a false thought out there
(07:15):
that showering stops the sweating process. The shower is just
supposed to make you smell better, guys. It doesn't just like,
oh I am showering, therefore I get to stop sweating
from the workout, Kyle. I fear that there is a
misnomer out there about how we're supposed to navigate this.
And so if you yourself, as a man, just a
piece of advice, feel like you're going to change sweating,
(07:36):
continue sweating, give yourself a beat. It's not the workout,
the shower, and sit down to answer questions upon questions
about one of the most highly sought after free agents
in the NFL. Ever, just give it a second coach,
maybe the walk in the fresh air in Florida.
Speaker 6 (07:50):
And then address the media again.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Showering doesn't stop sweating, and Aaron Rodgers will take his time.
These are two facts of the NFL offseason that I
just wanted to cover on GMFB.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
I like it, and I feel great empathy for Mike
Tomlin this morning, not because I know what it's like
to wait for Aaron Rodgers, but I know it's like
to be on camera sweating like an idiot. Actually, it
actually goes back to early early Good Morning football, when
like people would have to tweet the show and be
like Yo, Brand's got oceans under his arms. We went
to the boat, we tried everything. Peter, you remember like
(08:20):
I wore a man's eer. I wore a man stillmore
a man's deer. We used to take like a feminine
hygiene products and like put them in my It's just
absolutely horrific as a disaster back in the early days. However,
for Mike Tomlin, it would be perfect if it was
a brand new head coach. Mike Tomlin been around the block.
Mike Tomlin invented the block. And by the way, we're saying,
we're kind of joking that he's stressed about Rogers. Tomlin's
(08:41):
dealt with some stuff. He's dealt with a lot of
stuff more stressful than will Rogers come and join us.
But to answer Jamie's question, I would say, look at
all the friends in the background, AJ Jody. Sometimes you
get a workout and then you go and take a
piping hot shower and it actually increases the heat and
the body temperature. Then if you throw on your Joseph
(09:03):
A Bank afterwards, it starts sweating. I would think Mike
Toma would have this down to a science at this point.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
He's done it before.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
I'm just gonna I'm gonna die in this hill. That
at least fifteen to twenty percent of the perspiration has to.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Do with the topic.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
He's a cool guy, he doesn't wealth under pressure. But
this is this is difficult times. And I still think
there's something that.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Is the beauty of the league meetings.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
It's like there's so many times there's there's literally sixteen
coaches speaking and we're talking about Mike tom on sweating
and his pre breakfast routine of working. That's what it
is now, Kyle, we've worked together nine years.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
You mentioned you sweat, and you mentioned you Sese.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Feminine hygiene products under your arm fall facts.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
It's true.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
They've got this this visual here, this is a full
glam squad after an angry runs. And that is not
you putting on or anything that is Bradford, that is
Ashley and this is what it takes after one episode
and one segment of angry runs.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
That's how you sweat. It's like cold trickle oponent of
the pitch. Yeah, I got guys.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Changing his tires and gassing them up, probably trying the
fender like that. Right from the left is our Robert Duvall,
and then Ashley is John c Riley. Let me get
let me get the trend back on the tracks, because
there was something football wise from the Rams. Do we
have the video of the Rams. Let's talk give me
McVeigh at the annual meetings.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
Go ahead, Peter.
Speaker 11 (10:17):
Congratulations man, what an amazing journey what you've done with
Good Morning Football. You guys have really changed the game.
I can remember when we were in New York. I
came to visit you and you were talking about this
amazing opportunity and look what you've done with it. So
happy to have seen all the success that you've had
and continued success.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
Love you for our friendship.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
You're the man.
Speaker 11 (10:36):
Congratulations. Sad to see you go, but what a legend
you are. Good Morning Football's better for you haven't been there.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Oh man, that's my guy, that's my day.
Speaker 12 (10:44):
One.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Guy. McVeigh and I have known each other a very
long time, back when he was an offensive assistant with
the Redskins in twenty thirteen, McVeigh and I linked up,
and then he'd be the head coach of the Rams
four years later, just as our show started off. That
was like Nick Wright getting tapped up by Lebron. That's
what that felt like. So thank you, Sean. We appreciate
calling me a legend. You're a legend and winning head
(11:05):
coach and a great friend of mine.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
But this is awesome.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Guys. I didn't expect any of this today on a
Monday morning, So whoever put these things together, it's really special.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I didn't see the basketball moment you're referring to it.
Let me if you want some legacy stuff for Peter.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Here's some legacy stuff, okay.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
In the time The Good Morning Football has been a
show since twenty sixteen, there have been the two largest
developments in the league on the coaching front and on
the player front. The largest development on the coaching front
in our time as a show is Sean McVay. The
largest development in the player front is Patrick Mahomes, Sean
McVay and Patrick Mahomes. Peter was ahead on both of them.
He was on the ground floor in both of them.
(11:40):
He was building the building before even going in on
the ground floor. If you don't remember, I remember vividly
sitting there in the spring before McVeigh was hired, right
before Super Bowl week, I think it was.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
And Peter is having.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
The gall to get up on TV and live TV
and talk about this. What was he thirty one or something,
thirty year old assistant who is like, I really think
he is a shot of being the next head coach.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
And we're all listening.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
But the people are on the industry why this is wrong?
This is wrong, Peter. They're scoffing at it. Then, before
Mahomes became Mahomes, this guy to Texas Tech with had
all the red flags, never trust. Peter was saying, I
think this guy is the next thing. Mcveag's been the
biggest development. Mahome's been the biggest development. The guy who
was first on both of them is this guy, right.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
I appreciate you, It's true, Peter, You're good Man's damn right.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
I also had Aaron Rodgers winning MVP this year in
the Jets wit in the FC. So take it with
a grain of salt, folks, Come on.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
I'll tell you this. Peter.
Speaker 10 (12:38):
One night before I got this this this gig, Angela
Ellis told me to watch some JIMFB and tell me
a little bit about what I learned. And one thing
that I learned, very very quickly was that no matter what,
listened to what Peter says when it comes to predicting
the Super Bowl, because I remember watching you every single
year predict who was going to play in the Super
Bowl and who was going to win the Super Bowl.
And so I learned two things. One listen to Peter
(13:01):
and Kyle is always going to choose the Buffalo Bills.
And I was like, Okay, that's all I need to know.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
I love you, yes right, eat the chicken away and
taking him all the way to the super Bowl.
Speaker 12 (13:10):
Here.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
It's very good, Peter.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
We love you, whether you like it or not, buddy,
It's the Hour of Peter Schrager on GMFB. Kyle, we
have some prospects that I assume this month are going
to come to the table join us on our show,
and aston gents might be one of.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Them running all the way across that blue turf right.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
To Jerry World. No, I have takes on Ashton gen Z.
Where he's going to go?
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Is this just another really good running back? Or is
this hashtag generational talent?
Speaker 9 (13:36):
See him?
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Is he him? Peter? Find out? Ready you're him?
Speaker 6 (13:42):
That's the Coachbush. We're gonna keep talking about it too.
We're gonna check in food.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Yeah, touch Bush, Let's fight about it. Good football.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
We're back on GMFP and we're going to send you
back down to Florida for the league's annual meeting with
our guys, Ian Tom and Mike Girlfollo. Gentlemen, welcome back
inside gmt B on the final day of the Peter
Schraeger experience and anything else that you guys want to cover.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Yeah, we have some.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
We have some news.
Speaker 13 (14:15):
It's a big one for us that we're reporting. But
also it's tough, I would say emotional. It's challenging to
say goodbye to someone will say it. Peter Schrager has
now agreed to terms with someone else.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
We're not going to tell you who. I want to say,
could be anyone.
Speaker 13 (14:30):
He is joining another group of insiders that I would
say is not nearly as good looking charismatic.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
That's here to say, you guys.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
He is leaving, Michael. It hurts he will be missed.
Speaker 13 (14:41):
We think may sometimes people leave and we forget them,
but we think he's going to be one of the
ones that is going to be missed. And yeah, agreed
to terms. He's done.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Look at that.
Speaker 13 (14:51):
What do you guys think, Tom Your reaction? Oh no, Mike,
Mike will go to you.
Speaker 14 (14:54):
I appreciate the compliment, Kyle, I appreciate the convent, but
the shades are on for this here because just like
Balboa and Rocky three at Mickey's funeral, I don't want
to let him see me cry.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
I thought we're going to go with it.
Speaker 14 (15:04):
This is an annual picture that I took with Peter
Schrager here at the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
We missed a couple of years.
Speaker 14 (15:09):
There was a COVID year, but we tried to take
this picture.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
On the field.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Will he still Will he still take one with me?
I don't know.
Speaker 14 (15:17):
That is a good question.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I think we're still gonna be friends.
Speaker 14 (15:19):
I have a Instagram reel that I'm working on in
which I am overlaying and the quote at the end.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Breaking back yes, it is, yes, it is. Yes, it
is like you had hair I did not have on
your face. No, I did not have hair.
Speaker 14 (15:34):
So I did some reporting on this whole thing, and
I called Cliff Kingsbury last night and he said, how
did you get this number? And I said, no, no,
but listen, I just it's Peter's last day tomorrow. And
he said, look, this is a guy that I would
trust with any one of my game plans here ahead
of time. That's how much faith that this league has
in Peter Schreger.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Take care of him, treat him well.
Speaker 15 (15:52):
Whoever you are, it's a massive void. Who is going
to tell us every single course of his meal with
Sean McVeigh.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Who is going to get up four a m.
Speaker 15 (16:03):
In Las Vegas the morning of the draft and hang
off of a balcony while people are still coming back
from the casinos and bars and we are up beginning
a morning show. You know, it's just like when somebody
leaves in free agency.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Peter.
Speaker 15 (16:17):
You know, we wish you well except when you're playing
against this show literally every.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Day, but I never we will mentioned could wish you
luck of things? Yes all other times and.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Seven eight otherwise You're fine I would like to say
that the three of you are are a huge part
of my life, not only on air, but we have
an ongoing text thread that is the lifeblood of some
of my greatest laughs, belly laughs, inside jokes and comedy.
You three are really special to me, you know that,
And I feel like I'm going to take out an
(16:51):
ad in the front page of like the NFL Network
Times and thank my colleagues like they do when free
agents leave. Truth of the matter is, Mike, I go
back with you since you were at the Newark Star
Ledger and you were coming on to Fox Sports dot
Com in twenty twelve, and you and I were talking
with the late great Chris Demko about coming aboard and
how you and I were going to do our best
(17:13):
to kind of put up a fight against the Ian
Rappaports and the Adam Schifters and the Tom pellen Ceros
of the world. You're one of my best pals. Ian,
I love our relationship, and Tom You're an incredible guy.
So all three of you your special to me.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
That will never change. I mean this earnestly. You're amazing
at what you do and your great dudes.
Speaker 14 (17:29):
I started to make the Gladiator reference. Peter, I'm gonna
hit you with the line right now, I will see
you again, but not yet.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
It's goodbye forever. It's been nice knowing you. And now
it ends. The news we break in life echoes an eternity.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
There you go, everybody, everybody, insider is well done. We
appreciate that news.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
All right, we have a very important day here in
Good Morning Football. However, it is good morning football, and
since nobody loves football more than Peter, we want.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
To stick to football.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I want to talk about Ashton Genty. You know this
guy you've watched the sky, this running back out of
Boise State.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Who is coming into the draft.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
And now, as Peter's laughing and trying to stick it
about football, we got security lapses. Come on, Jason, sit down.
I'm going to finish my Ashton Genty take before we
talk to Jason.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Before go ahead, Peter, you start talking.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
What could have been?
Speaker 5 (18:20):
Jason?
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Could have I love this guy and your Carrious I
haven't Oh my gosh, I did not know this has happened.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Good Why is.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
Your chair so long?
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Are you miked up?
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I'm miked up. Let's go learning a go. I'm having
my gosh cool.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
I didn't I didn't get the blue blazer.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
No, but you look better than us.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
You wanted. Why are you here today, Jason?
Speaker 16 (18:40):
I mean, Peter Schrager is an icon in this industry
and if you're here, look about it. Shragger is having
a day. How could you miss this? I'm fired up
to be here.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
You look good. I want to give you a hug.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Bro, I love you.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
You're the man too. You know my feelings towards you.
This is unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
I can't give a hug because I'm wired in I
think or could.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I have to get unwired?
Speaker 16 (18:58):
And yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, you know I don't.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
But you love the friends, Jason, and the time that
you've left the show, you must get asked.
Speaker 5 (19:08):
You know, Peter? What's Peter like with Jamie?
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Like I like when when people say, what is your
what is your spiel on?
Speaker 7 (19:12):
Peter?
Speaker 5 (19:12):
What do you have to say about working with people?
Speaker 16 (19:14):
I always say, now, you want to know somebody that
can help you get to where you want to get
in life. People always say, that's not what you know,
it's who you know. Do you have to know Peter Schrager?
This is the guy that no matter where I go.
Obviously did game last year for CBS. No matter where
I went, the conversation was about Peter Schreker.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
You know, you know my guy shrinks.
Speaker 15 (19:34):
Yeah, yeah, I know.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Are we doing a trivia segment? That is how it is.
It's always my guys.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
You know, you fight and scrap and claude to get
to a place in your career where you get to
attend these events.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
And I'm the first thing everyone says to you is, hey, how'
shreg's doing.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
I never mind, Harrison, You're not here, right to worry,
by the way, they can you show that picture again?
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Can I give a quick Jason? Please?
Speaker 4 (19:56):
Do we go to We go to London and uh
and and it's.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Like we have like two hours to kill.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I'm like, I'm gonna go to the Winston church War Museum.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Jason's like, I'll join you.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
We did a three hour guided tour and saw Churchill's merricks.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Yes we did. We had the best time.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
And I'm going for the history of it. I'm like, well,
here's the bunker and this says the Nazis were coming,
and here's Churchill and Chamberlain was it?
Speaker 2 (20:20):
And Jason like I was like this kid.
Speaker 16 (20:22):
This guy, he probably doesn't remember when we finished over.
We're walking back to the hotel. Head coach in the
NFL calls and we're just in London just to catch up, Shrikes,
how you doing?
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Just really yeah, just need anything? How's everything going?
Speaker 1 (20:33):
That's true, head coach in the NFL, Wow King'sbady FaceTime.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I think we.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Also probably was upset that, like the car that I
expected the NFL network to send me wasn't there on time.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
You know, Jason, there was probably I.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Was Germany, that was Germany.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Well, listen, Jason is perfect because when Jason enters the
show at this really pitiful time.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
You might not believe this.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
But sometimes people come in his guest host and Peter
has opinions about them, and some of the opinions are critical,
are constructive, and for you, it was all it's just
like it's so easy, it's so effortless.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Just like this, like we're just doing a segment right now.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
You have to realize you never got a proper send off,
like I could do four hours, five hours on just
how amazing Jason on this show is and what a
part of Jason's fabric. If this is my farewell show,
you deserve a moment to a fair moment because appreciate
that Nate Burlison was a founding member of the show
and left enormous shoes. And I think Nate would be
okay with me saying you didn't only fill in admirably,
(21:30):
you exceeded expectation.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Can I get a hot take than okay? Wherever you are?
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Better than.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Listens zero show?
Speaker 5 (21:52):
What's up?
Speaker 13 (21:53):
Baby?
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Need we need booze right now?
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Just like the date, it was like the fed member,
it's impossible to fill it in, and this guy did
an admirable killed it.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Look at this.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
We got a show right here? Wait this is it?
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Were proportionate, got a lot sexier and faster.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Yeah, this is an incredible shown the seating so.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
You couldn't okay, No, Michael said, it doesn't matter, Nate.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
What's up? What's up baby?
Speaker 14 (22:25):
How you doing?
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Why are you here?
Speaker 12 (22:27):
I'm here because of my guy, Peter Schrager. I love
him dearly. He was part of this show from the
very beginning, not just in front of the camera but
behind it. I know you have spoken about it, but
I don't think there is anybody that loved the show
as much as Peter loved the show. Initially, we as
talent had to catch up to how much he cared
(22:47):
about it. And let's not get it twisted. We didn't
reinvent the wheel, but we did add our notes to
the blueprint that came before us, and we did something special.
And I hear about it all the time. So Peter,
I love you dearly. And as soon as they shot
me a text and said it is going to be
his last day, I told everybody at CBS.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
Morning, you missed your CBS said.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
I said, I'm coming.
Speaker 5 (23:09):
I gotta come. That's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
I'm blown away right now.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
I didn't think I would get emotional, but seeing these
two faces, it's with you.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah, these four, I mean.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
I'm gonna make a Cringey White reference.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
This is like like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar
like together with us.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
You know what I'm saying. This is breaking it down
for me.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
It's terrible coming through the door.
Speaker 12 (23:30):
This is like the light Skinning and dark Skinner at
VIV coming back to the Fresh Prince set that's before
It's all good.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
It don't matter first over there, Hi, what are your
emotions right now?
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Seeing these guys amazing amazing.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
This is I've been on the show for a decade,
nearly a decade.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
If you go back to when we were.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Like creating this thing, and Nate I knew before I
knew you, and before you, Nate was a player and
he would come on inside the NFL when I used
to work inside the NFL, and immediately we jailed, and
he was like one of the few players the active
players would text. You'd always text back, And my career
is nothing without the three of you, you know, always
playing off us and like, I don't know, it's magical
seeing all of us here in the same room.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
I'm sure wherever you go next, we'll have the same
sense of warmth. It'll be just like this. Peter.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
It's a great decision you're making. So you came all
the way downtown here it's Peter's last day. Empty the
bag because raining we're not going to get Peter advice because.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
They'll stab you. But memory an insight, Nay.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I asked Jason this like when someone asked.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
You about shregs, Like what do you say, what is
your what is your description of shregs?
Speaker 5 (24:36):
Like, here's what it's like, Here's what Peter's like. We
all have.
Speaker 12 (24:38):
Urse one always say he's one of the best insiders
in the world, but calling him an insider is being
dismissive of everything else he brings to the table. Extremely connected.
I got to be honest, Shregs, you were one of
the first people that I knew. When they said that
they knew somebody, I believe them.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
There's a lot of people.
Speaker 12 (24:54):
Say, oh, I got a sore, so I can make
a call I heard from this guy. But I would
peek over at your phone and you will legitimately be
talking to owners, GM's coaches, everyone down the bottom coaches
on the roster, and then you'd mention their name, and
two weeks later they get a job. And I just
thought that was unbelievable because a lot of people front
like they're connected, and you actually were. And then on
(25:15):
top of that, you cared about this job deeply. And
I know I talked about it briefly, but the way
that you showed up for work and stayed afterwards, it
really taught me how to fall in love with the
small details, because oftentimes this talent were separated from what
happens behind the scenes. But you always wanted to firmly
plant yourself in the middle of how this show was
(25:36):
being created and told to the people, and for fans
who don't know. Peter loves the fans like we don't
do this for us, like it's not about us, seeming
like we know everything about football. We were just guys
on a couch talking and shout out to k guys
and gals. But for Peter, he always thought about what
the fan wanted. And it's rare in this business because
(25:57):
you got a lot of people that show up and
they pop off at the mouth and they want it
to be about them. We just wanted it to be
about y'all. That the way on that man, I just
want to say thank you.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
For about Burlason here and Jason, you'll appreciate it. We
used to be up at that World Trade Center. We
had the fiftieth floor, and you know.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
We didn't have dressing rooms, so they would just give
us spaces and you'd have a you have, like just
a place where you got to change. They put me
and Nate together in that big green room and Nate
and I would be in our skivvies, our little whitey tidies.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
We'd be watching Everybody Loves.
Speaker 17 (26:26):
Rainy Before the show every day, like we weren't studying
staff he me and Nate ripped through like seven seasons
of rainbe from five am to six am every day,
and like, I know all your kids. Yeah, I know
Jamie's kids, Like I know your wives, I know Jamie's husband.
Like this is more than just us talking about the
cowboys and the giants.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
This is family and this is forever. And uh, I
love you guys.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
I would love you too.
Speaker 16 (26:52):
You didn't get the invite to watch Everybody Loves Ring.
Speaker 12 (26:54):
I have my private dress one, but the lessener today
is why everybody loves Peter.
Speaker 5 (27:01):
This is incredible to see you guys here and.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Peter, Yeah, thanks, thanks, that is really cool. I don't
know if every network does this for everyone. I don't
know if every show does this for everyone.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
But to actually go out in your own terms and
have a little celebration for yourself, like that's pretty special stuff.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Nate, Nate, it's awesome to see you this morning.
Speaker 6 (27:17):
Mccordy.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
I know you can speak to this, but the day
you and I were standing in that hallway and Peter
and Kyle were was supposed to be rehearsing the cold Open,
when really it was just us going live for the
first time ever, having practically just shaken their hands, met
these guys and walking out there. Jason, I know you
can speak to this because you were there with me
that day, and Nate too. Peter, you can make anybody
(27:38):
good on television, and I know those two are attestament
to that.
Speaker 6 (27:42):
And Kyle.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
You're talented in and of itself, but you make us
better every day and you deserve everything more than just
this hour on GMFB.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
So we love you.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Peter. Wow, guys, thank you.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
I'm overwhelmed.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
I'm not going to say anymore that that's incredible. This
is incredible.
Speaker 9 (28:09):
Good mon football, Introducing first the Master of the Mock Draft.
He has correctly predicted every single Super Bowl winner since
nineteen eighty three and hails from Freehold, New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
He is Peter Sure. I love football. I love to
go back down memory and Lane.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
I would like to say good morning football to jan
Norris Jenkins. You had all of New York City holding
their collective breath yesterday.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
When you cleaned Odell Beckham in practice on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Hey, buddy, save some of that for Dez Bryant or
DeShawn Jackson.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Rabbit.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Just relax for a little bit. He go to the
West cat in Congos. Mister Bud Cud jaf Fun, Jeff Fun.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Hope you have some fun put your hands together or
Peter super Slinger Shrigger.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
Dream Boom follow.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
Runway, Joe Lamer.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Raiders owner the late Great L. Davis just win baby balloons?
Speaker 5 (29:21):
Is that a clown?
Speaker 2 (29:22):
J J and cowney as we got it? Yeah, this is.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
Called a hot pocket in our country. Okay, you eat
them at their soccer practice with that high sea anyone
gotta be a drink?
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yes, there you're a cooler. Can I gotta calls up
on what this is? It's like a haribou gummy bear
of filth? Bon apptite? Who does that? Remind me of that? Again?
You might make your own conclusions. Hot here pick that picture? Hey,
here we are?
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Can you feel the rain train and the J man
making it rain like usual?
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Who like? We're at the Rhino at the Rhino back,
We're back in New York for back Jared. I love
that he's not wearing that athlesia anymore. Kyle and I
are on the sho.
Speaker 11 (30:05):
Let's figure out you're yourself right time?
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Hi, I'm Kyle, Peter Peter overat folks wait over yet?
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Oh and those are a few of your favorite things.
Here are a couple of mine about Apney, shregs, you're
yours hearing us tee him up on Peter, what's on
dep for the Giants' softseason? Or shrikes? Help us understand
the Ladies with Matthew Stafford. But personally, all I care
about is in the commercial breaks. I need to hear
about the Pistons, Wolves Freakis. Last night I got to
hear about CBS's new NFL announcer Pegs and his takes
(30:38):
on torpedo bats. These are the kind of things that
Shrakes cares about, and viewers have asked for this today and.
Speaker 6 (30:43):
They just heard it in that clip.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
It's my shrill, Peter, Or when Peter says something that's
so creative, smart, witty, well delivered and sometimes shocking that you,
my friend, have now become the most well rounded TV
person that I have ever been around. And as a
parents of young kids, you know this as well as
I do. It can be used as a point of
feedback when someone says you always have something to say,
don't you? Well, I say it to you as the
(31:07):
ultimate compliment for us on this show and the viewers
at home. You have always had something to say, and
I always thank you for that. You are also a
family guy, Peter, and I mean that on several levels.
I adore your wife and your beautiful kids.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
They are awesome.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
But you have been grinding on this show since twenty sixteen,
giving every ounce of your football brain to our favorite
four letters.
Speaker 6 (31:26):
You're a family guy.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
So while I don't know exactly what you're doing next,
if it doesn't involve you getting up every single morning,
five hundred days out of the year and missing the
first day of school pictures or the basketball tryouts, or
traveling half the year, and to come to this table
and be on our show, then it must be the
right thing for you. Now, speaking of family, I don't
have any brothers, but you have emulated what I assume
(31:48):
it's like to have a big brother ready to.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Dish the heat. But I would never question if you
would have my back if someone came for me.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
You're loyal to a fault sometimes and I respect the
hell out of you for it. And in our line
of work, I like to think this is the ultimate praise.
I wish we were in the same studio together today
of all days, so I could give you a nice,
awkward side hug that you hate so much.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
But I'll get down. I'll get you down the road.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
At the next Super Bowl, I will see you. We
will catch up. You'll have seen five things that I
worked on TV that I never would have imagined. You
had the time to catch I'll ask about your family
and how much you love not traveling, and then you'll
whisk away to befriend the next youngest GM and the
next wave of football media will be blown away about
how you might know that guy. But I will not
be surprised because of my three years that I got
(32:32):
with you on this show.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
Love you Shrigs like all.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Class, Jamie. That was really, really so thank you.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
If you're the best. You know how I feel about you.
And it's been an absolute honor the last three years.
As we said with Jason and Nate, Kay Adams was
a massive hole leaving this show and you came in
and you made it your own. And I could say
I've had so much fun the last three years getting
to know you, and I think you're an unbelievable television personality.
But you're also a better soul. You are an awesome,
awesome colleague, Jamie and a great mother of three beautiful daughters.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
That was really smoothing, and what you said was as well.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
Peter, and I think this is really cool.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
We're here in New York and we got we got
our friends Jason and Nate here and Peter. I thought
a lot about what I was going to say in
this very moment, and everything kept sounding like a really
bad made of honor speech.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
I can't sit.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Here and be like Peter, you're my partner in crime.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
I can't do it.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
So what I will say is that I come in
here every day and I want to impress you.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
I come in here every day and my goal is
that I want to make you laugh and I want
to say something that you didn't think of.
Speaker 5 (33:38):
That's what I do every day, and it's very, very challenging.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
So my original angle is I was going to talk
to wherever you go next and tell them this is
what Peter's about.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
But I flipped it. I want to tell you.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
What Peter is not about. There we go. Don't look
at this man as an insider.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
He is that that is one of fifty things he is.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
This guy will not pose for a photograph holding a phone,
which is the entry point for every inside.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Don't do that to him.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Don't of course this person to scream and fight for
no reason.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Peter loves football. He loves the positivity of football.
Speaker 5 (34:10):
There are people who.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Love television and end up in football, and there's people
who love football and end up in television.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
That is Peter Schrager. This is not a bar.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
A beefed up take havever about ball ball ball. I
have this reputation on the show that like I'm the
pop culture one.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
Peter knows more about pop culture than I do.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
That's the big secret.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Peter seen every episode of every show, and every podcast
and every movie.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
He knows us up cold.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Lastly, this is not some talent who sits at the
desk and you hand them something.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
Let this man produce. This man took a.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
Morning show, oldest most tired concept ever, a football talk show,
oldest most hired concept ever, and made it into this
Bring up the phonet. Does this look like a morning
football talk show to you?
Speaker 2 (34:55):
That's our show, Jim Kramer's.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
Jim Kramer, It's me on the Streets.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
That is a football show. You wouldn't think it.
Speaker 5 (35:01):
It's like that because of Peter.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Lastly, in July, I have twenty sixteen, when we found
out that this show is going to happen, I was
going to be part of it. I got a direct
message from Peter Schrager and he said, dude, this.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Is so cool.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
We're going to be best buds. And he was right,
and we have been and we are. You guys know
this about me. I'm a miserable bastard. I don't like
making friends.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
At home.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
You're sitting your ways.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah. At home, I had my wife and my kids
around the town.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
I got a few friends around the country, got my
high school friends.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
When I come to work, I have Peter and Peter
you said we're going to be best buds, and we
always have been. And thank you very much for eight
and a half years for being my best bud.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Right on, right on. I love you, Kyle, love you.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
I love you too, all right as I fight back
tears here with Jason mccordy, Innate Brilson, and Kyle Brandt
all in this.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
New York City studio next to me.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
It is my last show on Good Morning Football, and
this is my last ever segment on the program.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
I've been with the show for.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
Nine years, and if you go back to all the
meetings I had with Michael Davies and Tim Brown in
this very building, it has been a full decade of
my life, living, breathing, being Good Morning Football, turning a
television show concept into a brand, into a cult classic,
(36:19):
into a lifestyle. In that time, I have had two
beautiful children. We've won multiple awards. Yes, viewers were once
the critics, Darling and I've got to cover multiple super
Bowls and combines and drafts and summers where we debated
Jadavion Clowney's next whereibox and that Jadavian Clowney thing, which
(36:40):
all three of you guys here and Jamie back in
La can appreciate, was sort of the beauty of our show.
When everyone else went away for the summer or dove
into the NBA finals or the Olympics of the home
run derby, we were tasked with a three hour show
filling it about NFL football. We would end up ranking
the best third wide receivers in the AFC ees fact
(37:01):
or we would just quiz each other on nineteen eighties
tight ends, and we got away with it, and we
loved it, and somehow, some way the viewers did too. See,
we love football on this show. We don't love seeing
our names and headlines. We don't love screaming the loudest
we can.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
We love football. And we always did this show.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
For ourselves, the other hosts on set and the producers
in the back. And when we did it, we just
wanted to be informative but also to entertain. I hope
in my decade in this chair.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
You learned something from me.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
You felt like you were on the inside, even if
it was just a bit, and you entertained. I gave
it my all every single day on this show, and
I appreciate, so appreciate everyone who's ever worked on it,
either on set or behind the scenes. You know, the
crew and the producers in our ears are really responsible
for what this show is. And the folks who work overnights,
(37:53):
I mean, that is the job that I don't envy
and yet no complaints. You know, those are the folks
that at two in the morning, when I wake up
in the middle of the night and I'm like, I
need the right Stephen Davis Redskins clipper, or I need
the correct Jeff Blake to Darnay Scott deep past my
Bengals highlights from the early nineties.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
There's someone at two am who's putting that together and
getting no credit at all.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Kyle Brant, we could do a full day on NFL
Network me talking about you.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
You are one of one talent. You are a brilliant mind.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
You have never mailed in a single segment or single
episode on this show.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
You are a friend for.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
Life, and I can't imagine in all the years we'll
be doing this that we will ever have a better
sparring partner or a teammate.
Speaker 2 (38:37):

Jamie Erdall, you know you're not with us here in
New York right now.

to what I have to say to you.

What you did this past year, at the hours that
you are working in a new city with a new
third child. If you didn't already have my utmost respect beforehand,

and you never have a bad attitude.
