Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
That's right, GMFB. Everybody welcome inside. It's about ten eleven
days till we hear that beautiful trium before the NFL
Draft begins in green Bay, Wisconsin. Logan, when you heard
the draft is going to be in Green Bay, that
these guys get to go to Lambeau and find out
they're going to play in the NFL, was that cool?
Were you like, Man, this thing's got to stay at
Radio City here?

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Yeah, I mean not if I'm on prospect necessarily. No,
you know, not too much shade to Green Bay. But listen,
it's a great football town there. Yep. I've played there.
It's historic that that whole venue, how they have it
all set up there, So it's an honor for it
to be there.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
But they got to put in some warm places.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
I feel like, Yeah, it.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Reminded me that I need I need to sell my condo,
but I still.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Have my you still own property in Green Bay?

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Was kind?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, I just I could not let it go.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
I was drafted there and I just couldn't let it go.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I would say, go to.

Speaker 5 (01:09):
Tynletown brewery, the greatest root beer ever.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Okay, a brewery that makes root beer.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
That's not what we're.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Trying to do.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Start with the root beer.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
What's a listing question. Rent that thing out for the draft?

Speaker 5 (01:22):
Yeah, there you go, Boa, I might sell it for
the draft.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Where was your draft?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
What city was it in?

Speaker 6 (01:27):
My draft experience was in Hannover, Maryland. I was with
some family.

Speaker 7 (01:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:32):
I didn't go to the draft, no, but I think
Lambo is a very interesting place to have it. I
played there last year. It was It was a fun experience.
When I saw them the schedule that we were going
to play Green Bay, I was like, oh, shoot, like.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
You know, you thought win what month? I was thinking when?
And thankfully it was week two?

Speaker 6 (01:50):
Okay, usually wear a turtleneck, a sleeveless turtleneck during the
game and everything. I went out there for warm up
it was eighty five degrees.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
I was basically dying and he had to come take Yeah,
Frog had to come take you know, cut my long seat.
He's like, bro, you're never doing this again. He was like,
I'm tired of doing this with you. He was like,
You're never doing this again. So I enjoyed playing at
Green Bay. It was pretty toasty out there. Thankfully we
ended up planned December or anything with my hands and
feet would be freezing.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
Yeah, I'm still thawing out.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Well, hopefully we don't have to cut your turtle. Knock
off you at us some point in the show.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Oh, frogs are equipment.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Shout out to the equipment manager, Jean Pellicero. We're talking
all things. NFL Draft is ten days away, there's pre
draft visits that are happening, which we are practically the
TMZ version on NFL Network of where these guys are going.
What are some top names that we're paying.

Speaker 8 (02:43):
Attention to, Jamie, Let's start out with Shador Sanders, who
is headed to Las Vegas tonight for a visit on
Tuesday with the Raiders. Now, this is really fascinating here because,
of course, the Raiders earlier in the off season trade
a third round pick for Gino Smith, who they also
upgraded his contract to consummate the deal. However, there are

(03:04):
always longer term questions when you have an older quarterback
in place, and the Shador Sanders connections to the Raiders
go back a year ago when Dion Sanders said publicly
to at the time the head coach Antonio Pierce, you
got to get my sons there. So for Shador, he
has visited many of the top teams. I'll spend time
last week with the Pittsburgh Steelers and coach Mike Tomlin.

(03:25):
His stock one of the fascinating stories in this entire
draft that if he does not go in those top
three picks, the Raiders certainly are a possibility at number six. Meanwhile,
Abduel Carter, the sensational pass rusher for the Penn State
Nitney Lions today, is in New England on a visit
with the Patriots. Now, the Patriots are sitting at number four,

(03:47):
and they would count their lucky stars if somehow Abduel
Carter is still on the board. That would probably be
in a scenario where the Browns are more likely the
Giants take a quarterback in the top three and push
Carter down to the Patriots. So there's a couple of
different reasons for the Patriots to have him in one
of course being just getting more time around Abdul Carter,
but also he's had a couple of injuries that have

(04:09):
impacted his pre draft process, so a chance to get
one more checkup on that Carter did recently go to
the combine recheck in Indianapolis. All systems appear to be
go from a medical perspective, Jamie, I.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Didn't know that there was a combine recheck. Guys go
back and they are validated in their injuries from the
original medical doctors that check them out in the first place.

Speaker 8 (04:30):
Anybody who had an injury that was flagged in February,
if they couldn't work out something was discovered like a
stress fracture or stress reaction, which was the case with
Abdual Carter, they take time in April for those players
to come back into Indianapolis get rechecked just so they
can compare all the scans. In Abdual Carter's case, it
sounds like he is progressing.

Speaker 9 (04:48):
In the right direction.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Jane, Well, that's good news for a couple of the
teams that sit at the top of the draft. Tom
Pelasaro the most intriguing name, and shame on us for
not talking about Travis Hunter yet on this show. What
is the latest with the potential two way player in
the NFL.

Speaker 8 (05:03):
Well, here's the thing, Jamie, you're Travis Hunter, and you
are the unicorn in the entire draft. You don't need
to do a ton of pre draft workouts and visits.
Everybody knows exactly who you've been for one hundred and
fifty STAPs or so per game in his college career.
So for Travis Hunter, he did visit the Titans over
a month ago, though all expectation is that they're going
to go cam Ward at number one. He also took

(05:24):
a visit to the Cleveland Browns and the New York
Giants had a huge contingent at Colorado's recent showcase. So
all those teams in the top three have gotten a
close look at Travis Hunter and at this point, never
say never it is the draft, but hard to see
him falling out of those top three picks.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
There certainly is a feeling within the league that.

Speaker 8 (05:43):
The Browns at number two are a strong contender for
Travis Hunter. Andrew Berry, their general manager, has said publicly
that he actually views Hunter perhaps as.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
A receiver first and.

Speaker 8 (05:55):
Then a corner, though for his part, Hunter also has
said he believes he do the same thing in college
in the NFL, which has played both ways every snap.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Jamie, all right, Tom, you know what he believes. And
Travis Hunter has done an excellent job selling himself as such.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
But all that.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Matters is where he gets drafted in what that team
wants to do with him. Let's play our first game
here on GMF with these three gentlemen at the table.
It's three and out and it's first down, second down,
third down. All right. I was throwing pens during Tom
Pelisaro's news report. I was trying to figure out how
many years of collective NFL experience we have at this table.
I'm coming up with nearly thirty. We got eleven, twelve
and going into four, so that puts us if I

(06:31):
can do my math correctly, right around twenty seven years,
which means that this question is perfectly suited for this table.
First down, Travis Hunter, Will Blackman. Is he a wide
receiver or a cornerback in this league?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
If you had to choose this one.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
I kept going back and forth with this one since
he was draft eligible and I believe be a wide receiver. However,
I do have an asteris if he has a good quarterback,
because that doesn't matter, and I think for him to
play both ways in college, and as someone who played
both ways at Boston College, I had a coordinator a
coach that was down with it, and.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Also have Matt Ryan throw me to football. Lavault was
on the money for me.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
So in this case, Prime, who played both ways himself
in the NFL, was down with letting this happen. And
he had, you know, possibly a first round pick quarterback
in should door. So I feel like if he goes
to a situation, let's say it's New York where he
has a quarterback, I think he would play wide receiver there.
So I think he's better suited to play receiver, but
I still can see him playing both sides of the football.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Why was that so hard for you to committee?

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Because I'm i mean years months ago, i started off
saying corner, yeah, and then I'm looking at receiver that
I'm like, it matters who's the quarter quarterback.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
It depends on where you're going.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
That's a good way to put it.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Look, I think it's a really tough question because he
can do both. No shade, Travis Hunter. He's capable to
do both. This is a unicorner as a prospect we've
had since probably Charles Woodson or something like that. But
I think Travis Hunter, let's not overthink this. This is
cornerback here, right, Because what separates a twenty million dollar
elite cornerback from a two million dollar cornerback is not

(08:03):
the ability to cover, it's ability to finish ball skills.
This guy reminds me of a Key to Leave, who
I played with. When that ball went up in the air,
he's not gonna knock it down, He's gonna pick it, right,
Trayvon Diggs, Right, he's a wide receiver at Alabama, goes
to the corner. He's got his head back look at
the quarterback the entire time. And when you play press coverage,
which Travis Hunter can do, once you turn and run

(08:25):
after five yards, you turn into the wide receiver, you've
got to.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Run the comeback.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
You got to run the dig route, you got to
run the post route.

Speaker 7 (08:30):
You throw that up there.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I think this guy can high point the ball. I
think he can catch it. Once he catched it. I
think he's a guy that lands on his feet and
scores it. And there's only a few players in the
NFL can do that. A keep to Leave's done that
a while. I played with him. He's one of the
greatest I played with. And Trayvon Diggs reminds you a lot.
I think that's an easy comp he can come in
if he is going to attempt to play on both sides,
it's easier to go play corner fully and learn some
wide receiver plays, then play wide receiver fully and then

(08:53):
hop in on defense every now and then. I don't
see that, so I think cornerback for Travis Hunter day
one starter.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I will say that in the beginning I was thinking receiver.
It's definitely thinking receiver. I sweared him.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
I definitely think was he was thinking receiver. But it
has to do with a good court having to have
a good quarterback. But also what you said, I feel
like all the guys I've seen, whether it's high school, college,
you know, the pro level, who have played some sort
of offense, have been exceptional when it comes to playing defense.
They know the concepts, they know how to run routes
so they can predict and they can anticipate what's going on.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
You know how the.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
Boy who played high school with demarkt he plays for
the Falcons. Now, you know, he always told me that
playing receiver was was harder, but it was easier to
play dB because he knew when people were going to break.
He knew what the route is supposed to look like.
So I feel like he can do that. You know,
you compare them to Traymon Diggs or you compare him
to a key to lead. My only thing is with
people like those people, you know, it's high risk, high reward.

(09:47):
You know you're gonna need to get to pick they
might score a touchdown. So it's one of those things.
It just depends on the situation he goes to, you know,
what the coach is willing to do with him, and
you know, like you said, you know, as playing receiver,
I feel like, you know, talking to the guys in
the locker room, it's oh plus one.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Here, you know, get to this landmark.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
You know, if they the defense does this, you have
to sit it down here and stuff. That's a lot
of you know thinking, you know, cover four, cover you
know cover three, Hey, you get a midpoint, you know
you got all of one or you know whatever eyes
on a quarterback, you know, I think that he'll thrive
in a defense like that.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
All right, we're going to do second down and things
that our production team loves to hear. I'm gonna break
this segment a little bit, and nick I want to
rely back on you, because I think we have to
understand the reality of what it might be like if
he decides to or if he can play two ways
in the NFL, which is, what does a day look
like for somebody who is in defensive meetings, who is
in d back meetings? And also if you know, what

(10:39):
does the offensive meeting look like? And can you physically
do this from a playbook perspective, from an obligations perspective,
and getting ready to play on Sunday afternoons? What would
this look like if you were a two way player?
And then we can ask the question.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
I say, start with the physical.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
You know, for me, I played about twelve hundred snaps
this year of defense, so give her take two thousand
snaps on the season. You know, if he's going to
be in the action getting the ball, making tackles, you know,
I know a lot of running backs stuff like to
try to corner and see if they're going to be
one to tackle. So physically, you know, for longevity and
career purposes, that's a lot on your body. You know,
he's what six', one you, know about one hundred and

(11:15):
eighty five hundred and ninety five.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Pounds you, know not the biggest.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
Frame so it's one of those things where for longevity,
purposes trying to be a consistent two way.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Player if he wants to do, IT i believe he.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
Can but you, know from the, optics from just you,
know science and. Stuff, yeah the demand of the, sport
it's not very, FEASIBLE i would say. MENTALLY i, mean
LIKE i, said you, know receivers in there looking at
minus one minus two on the, numbers you, know adjusting,
this andsing, that and then depend on the complexity of the.
Defense some defense is a really Complex some defense you

(11:46):
just go out, There, hey you have that, guy you
have this. Guy you, know if it's, that then, hey
you know you can go out there and do that all.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
Day.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
Right but you, KNOW i feel like the mental toll lit'll,
take you, Know i'm not, sure but if anybody's up for,
IT i think it's him for.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
Sure, well what he just said is twelve hundred snaps
is for the fans listening at, home that's a lot
on thousand snaps in THE. Nfl, okay a thousand snaps
in THE. Nfl that's An Iron Man award man playing
special teams. Too if you play a year that is.
True in my, opinion that's a true reward that tough
player there is available every single, game, Right so for

(12:17):
him to play twelve hundred in a, year that that
is really, rare but he. Did that's probably leading me up.
There leading THE. Nfl we're At Travis hunters is if
he wants to do his full time as two thousand,
snaps it's almost double the, workload which is double Iron, Man,
right that is really hard to. Do i'm looking at.
IT i don't think it's possible from not a talent,
perspective But i'm looking at it as a scheduling. Perspective

(12:38):
let's go through THE nfl work. Week, right you play On,
sunday we know that you're getting in a couple of car.
Crashes you're banged. Up monday you come out of, bed
you're pretty banged. Up you got to go do a.
Lift we actually do a heavy lower or a lower
body lift On mondays to kind of flush all that information.
Out we do a quick run and then we watched the,
film sitting there for hours making the. Corrections watch the.
Film tuesday is a player off. Day most of the
better players are still in this facility getting, treatment doing,

(13:01):
yoga doing, plates doing something, light hanging with their. Family
that you're day. Off, Okay, wednesday you're coming in. There
and in THE, nfl the offense and defense are two separate, teams,
right you have a quick team meeting breaking down the next.
Opponent then the offense they go and meet for four.
Hours the defense they go and meet for four. Hours
In New, england there was times when we played The
bills they had a great pass. Rush we're brading, them

(13:22):
putting fifty new, plays fifty no huddle, plays all in one.
Week and these, guys have you Need edelman and Am
Minolt they have big old playbooks of notes of this
word means, this and this means, that and everyone knows
exactly what they're doing on fifty new. Plays Kyle shanahan
in the forty nine ers thirty to forty new plays
a week, offensively, right and then, defensively you got to
study what they're. Doing so we got to learn their top,

(13:44):
concepts what they, do what we want to take. Away
we might not put in as many new, plays but
we got to figure out what to stop what they. Do,
well why is Justin jefferson getting? Open what they like
to do on first second. Down so you meet for
four hours or, so you have a, walkthrough you go to,
practice but you're not practicing against each. Other you're practic
against your scout.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Team.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Right So, thursday third Down, day SO i have all
new plays for third, down the, defense a new wrinkles on.
Defense we'll have this blitz drawn up For. Nick we're
have this drawn up for, him and you got to
learn ten new defenses on third. Down offense is gonna
have third down concepts and Then fridays the red area
you have red zone. Plays so he can't be in both,
meetings he can't be in both. Walkthroughs he's got to pick.

(14:19):
It that's WHY i think it's easier for him to
play defense because it's. Less you're not learning fifty new
defenses a. Week and then they can put him in
some packages on, offense maybe in there on some third
downs on. Offense maybe he comes in in the red
area right to bring some excitement to the game and
put in a reverse or a quick pass to. Them
SO i think he'd be a full time defensive player

(14:40):
with some packages and always special teams return. Kicks but
just from a logistical, standpoint you can't be in both,
Meetings AND i don't think it worked in college Because
prime gave him days off to rest his. Body prime
gave him practice off to.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Rest his body for how many snaps he.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
PLAYED i don't think The Cleveland browns Or Brian, dable
if you're drafting the top, five is going to give
your star rookie a day off on A wednesday when
you put YOUR i just don't think it's gonna.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Work, jamie did you get all?

Speaker 3 (15:06):
That that was an incredible description of what THE nfl looks.
LIKE i also don't want to go over the fact
That Logan ryan had three times he was a thousand
snap guy that was said to me in my ear
and three time Iron. Man so you, know when you here
twelve hundred, snaps you can understand that was a trigger
for a load of that was really. Cool all, right
third down More, Well i'm gonna start with, you what's
a more frightening defensive line with the addition Of Abdul.

(15:29):
Carter is it with The Cleveland browns or is it
with The New York?

Speaker 5 (15:32):
GIANTS i Mean Cleveland, browns But Miles garrett alone is frightening.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Enough so you added Abdual.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
CARTER i, mean that's just going to cause, problems AND
i think that would be the best spot for, him
simply because you just Gave Miles garrett That hughes contract,
rightfully so you don't know how long you know you
want to be paying for, that and you want to
get another guy to pretty much be there to be another.
Passportter so you got two guys come off the edge
in that, division which is a loaded in terms of
the quarter. ACQUISITION i think out the gate that is

(15:59):
the most frightening. POSITION i mean JUST i saw The
Miles garrett picture of him in high.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
School he looked.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Like flex wheel in The, bodybuilder you, Know i'll. Standing
SO i just feel like those two can cause having
him be a huge problem for any.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Quarterback i'm going on the other, Side i'm going to
my former, team The New York. Giants here you Have
Dexter lawrence in the, middle, dominant one of the best
defensive tackles in. Football you Have Brian, burns who you
paid elite pass rusher on the other, side and then
you bring In Abdul. Carter but what About Kavon. Thibadeau
they drafted him the top five as. Well he has
not panned out to that ceiling, yet but we know the.
POTENTIAL i look at third. Down you have those four

(16:34):
pass rushers as a unit on third, down where they're
all standing, up you don't know who's gonna go. WEAR
i think that's a better unit because of the four
deep that they have compared to the one two to The.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Browns, well rip to back your point real.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Quick WHEN i was with The giants in, eleven we
had pretty much eight man rotation.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Like that was the.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Benefit that's how we got the tom we get the pass,
rushers and that's What philly did Against.

Speaker 6 (16:52):
Mahomes, ABSOLUTELY i think you can go either, way BUT
i Think i'm gonna sway more Towards cleveland just because
not just of what they have up, front but in
the back end. Too Denzel, ward Lockdown, Corner Martin, emerson
you know emerging star back. There you Know grant delpat
is still back, there and then you know their their
lineback and court is pretty solid as. Well SO i think,
overall from a defensive, standpoint with, that those, teams those

(17:15):
offenses they have to play you, Know Joe, burrow they
have to go Play Lamar. Jackson those are teams that
you're gonna have to go out and get after the.
Quarterback you're gonna have to have guys back in who locked,
down and you're gonna have to get fast guys to,
go you, know get to the.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Quarterback you, Know lamar is not gonna.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
Just sit back, There Pat, Pat he's gonna pack and. Go,
so you, know having someone like a duel who runs.
Fast by the, WAY i don't like the fact that
they had That maryland clip up there when they are.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Quick when they put that duel up.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
There BUT i definitely think either, way either, where either
place he, GOES i think that he'll Be he'll be,
great and they'll have a great addition to their.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Team you have peripheries like like AN nfl CURRENT nfl
player is a.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
Safety yeah you got you got.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
Monitors and that's not even where he's. Looking and you
know That Maryland jersey was up there and a Blue
barter was getting after.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
HIM i saw.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
IT i didn't appreciate.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
It, Nick are you like a Welcome matt guy at your?
House like do you say come in or you take
off your.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Shoes like you?

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Are you are you welcome people into your home?

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Nicely when they do come to my. HOUSE i do
welcome the. Nicely you.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
KNOW i like to kind of stay to myself a little,
bit but WHEN i do have people over, it you,
know it is a very homey and warm environment AND
i take pride in.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
That, well that's so kind of.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
You maybe you'll Have Khalil herbert. Over he's your new
running back for The Indianapolis colts and he's coming on the.
Show so we're gonna have to tell him what it's
like to go over to the Neck. Crosshouse and plus
we got to get to know him a little bit.
Better so these are a couple of current guys in THE.
Nfl last this, hour we got to talk To Tron.
Armstead he recently. Retired these guys know, him they played with.
Him he made a decision to call it a. Career

(18:45):
what's next for him off the? Field armstead coming ON Gmfb.

Speaker 8 (19:00):
Good Morning.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Football so the draft is next week and The dolphins
might be looking into getting an offensive lineman after the
great toront arms said called it a career last. Weekend
arsat spent twelve seasons in THE nfl with both The
dolphins and The, saints and he puts together quite the
RESUME a five Time Pro bowl, selection twenty Nineteen Saints
man of The. Year plus he's got some speed to

(19:23):
the big, man and he was on one OF Nfl
network's top one hundred lists in the last couple of,
Seasons so we love to see that For Toront arms,
said we've loved watching him and now we are going
to enjoy talking to him on Giametin what's going?

Speaker 5 (19:36):
On good, Morning, Toron good, Morning good.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Morning it's awesome to see. You congratulations on. Everything you're
a week into. Retirement what hobbies have you picked up
in the? Meantime bird, watching, gardening, golfing both playing or
watching The masters over the. Weekend what are you filling
your time with now that you're not getting your body
right for the next.

Speaker 10 (19:54):
Season, yeah, No i'm fully embracing the old man. Life
i'm walking a, lot, walking, enjoying sitting, back send, back,
reading just more and more to the, quiet simple things
that the, quiet simple spoils of life these, days And
i'm enjoying.

Speaker 9 (20:11):
It.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
TORON i feel, like as someone who retired a year before,
YOU i feel like as AN nfl player that they
do a great job of teaching us how to get
in the. League obviously. College in this draft, process it's
up for the player to stay in the league as
long as you. Have but they don't teach you how
to get out of the. League they don't teach you
what life's like. After so tell me how you, knew
how you came to the decision that some of the
thoughts you might have for some other players out, there

(20:33):
and why you decided to.

Speaker 10 (20:34):
Retire, Yeah, logan it's just still was so many factors for.
Me my body for, one dealing with the knee that
is going on, bone you know's nothing left for me
to do to prepare and to go through another.

Speaker 9 (20:47):
Season it would have been, extremely extremely.

Speaker 10 (20:50):
Challenging then the factoring in my kids and my, family
just it's time to just be more, present be more
invested in their lives as they begin their athletic career.
Too so many factors that went into it, though and
prayed about it for a long, time thought about, it
talk to the PEOPLE i needed to talk. To so
just coming to this decision, peacefully, Man i'm pretty.

Speaker 9 (21:10):
Sure i'm pretty.

Speaker 10 (21:11):
SURE i am sure and at peace with with my
decision to walk away from the.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Game toron what's?

Speaker 9 (21:16):
Up Will blackman?

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Here you are you were three times first Team all Swack?

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Man how did it feel or did you take a
lot of pride and represent THE hbcu for twelve?

Speaker 9 (21:24):
Years?

Speaker 5 (21:24):
Like how do you feel about?

Speaker 11 (21:25):
That?

Speaker 10 (21:26):
Oh for, sure for SURE i were that that badge
with full, honor so many grades that came before, me
that that paved the way to allow the scouts to
to come watch our film down and down in THE
hpcu circuit, man and just just to be able to
represent all the all the greats and all the legends
that we have in THE nfl history that came from

(21:47):
the it's historic black. Colleges it's an incredible honor SOMETHING
i do not take.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Lightly what's up Tron? Netcross? Here believe we played all last?
YEAR i think we.

Speaker 9 (21:57):
Won you got to come. Back nice to meet.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
You SO i see you ran four seven to one
at three hundred. Pounds it's been over three hundred. Pounds
it's been about twelve years since. Then one where did
you get the wheels?

Speaker 9 (22:17):
From and?

Speaker 6 (22:17):
Two if you were to get on the line, today
are you still running under five?

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Seconds?

Speaker 10 (22:26):
First, foremost you, know being being being, blessed you, Know
god given talent and ability and putting the work into my,
hometown we were really known for speed back into, Hockey,
illinois small, town but we got a lot of state
championships in track and, field so we're known for.

Speaker 9 (22:41):
Speed and CAN i run up under?

Speaker 7 (22:45):
Five?

Speaker 9 (22:45):
Still that's, tough.

Speaker 7 (22:46):
Man.

Speaker 9 (22:47):
Listen as you get, Older, nick you're going to see.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
THIS i know you about a year four or, five
things start to start to, change saying and you got
to find new ways to. Win you got to evolve your,
game you learn different. Techniques COULD i run under five?
Seconds the world may never know Because i'm not doing.

Speaker 9 (23:05):
It i'm not doing it.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Well since you're not running the forty, anymore it sounds
like you're. Walking are you taking up power? Walking because
this is an event that we see at The Pro
bowl now and it's it's sweeping. That oh, yeah you
got The bosa brothers with the hips back and, forth
like are you are you walking with the purpose or
are you walking for the? Scenery i'm walking with.

Speaker 9 (23:25):
It i'm walking for the.

Speaker 10 (23:26):
Scenery i'm making SURE i get some some push to.
It you, Know i'm not just you, know walking walking
on the. Beach But i'm not doing all the power.
Walking AND i can't do the like the hip, Shift
i'm not. Need so that's that's a little too. Much
that's a little too much.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
TRYING a ton of, people you, know reached out to
you and celebrated your. Retirement who was one of your
favorite former teammates that you heard from and what was
the special message that you?

Speaker 10 (23:51):
Got SO i actually had a retirement party AND i
had WHEN i, say My god showed.

Speaker 9 (23:55):
Up they and they really really touched my.

Speaker 10 (23:59):
HEART i feel extremely blessed AND i aren't to Have Drew,
Brees Willie, Rove Cam jordan.

Speaker 9 (24:05):
Mark, Ingram Teddy, Bridgewater Tyreek, Hill mike, McDaniel Frank it,
was it, Was it was.

Speaker 10 (24:13):
Incredible it was incredible and just just a very very,
touching touching evening.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
When you announced your.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Retirement you, Know Drew, brees your, quarterback you, know he
praised you for a lot of, leadership you, know which
is a huge confliment coming from someone Like, drew like take,
us you, know inside the huddle to the locker, Room
like how would it lift you, up motivate your?

Speaker 9 (24:31):
Teammates drew was, incredible.

Speaker 10 (24:34):
Man his preparation, Alone like you see somebody that that
left no stone unturned every week no matter what our
offensive production was the week, before, like he still committed
the same level of preparation time and for the. Energy
so just watching him prepare the way that he, did
like you didn't want to let this got. Down you
wanted to be and do everything possible to go out

(24:55):
there and perform for him and be.

Speaker 9 (24:57):
Productive so it's just.

Speaker 10 (24:59):
Just just watching him and other leaders that we, had
AND i, LEARNED i, STUDIED i paid it attention to those,
guys and for, ME i just always wanted the betterment
of my, Team like just wanted the guys to improve
to daily, progress to really have that full investment because
we are a short windowed to do.

Speaker 9 (25:15):
THIS i played for twelve, years but that's a short
span of my, life you know WHAT i.

Speaker 10 (25:18):
Mean SO i wanted to maximize, that maximize my potential
and have that full.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
Investment toron as a fellow broadcast who can't classmate of,
MIND i know you want to get to broadcasting and
teach people about, life especially in the. Trenches so what's
something about playing the old line mentality wise or something
you can bring to the screen and maybe tell the
fans at, home what a twelve years at The Old line.

Speaker 10 (25:38):
Means, YEAH i would love to get more into a
detailed space and we're talking to, trenches get more into the, technique,
assignments hand, placement, leverage you know What i'm trying to
do as far as manipulating with my eyes and first
step pre, snap dummy calls and things like that Where
i'm making a run call BUT i know it's a play,
action But i'm getting a reaction.

Speaker 9 (25:58):
From the linebackers because they hear. Me i'm making sure they.

Speaker 10 (26:00):
Hear, me just those small details and just give people
more were insight and a little bit more of an.
EDUCATION i feel like as a fan, base we know
a lot about quarterback. Play you know a lot about
the skill, positions but it's time we learned a.

Speaker 9 (26:13):
Little bit more about what's going on in there with
the big.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Dogs there you, Go, WELL i appreciate that, tidbit you.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
Know so ANYTIME i hear alignments making some run call or,
Something i'm, gonna you, know make sure to let my
playmates know it.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Might not always be.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
TRUE i might you might catch a little slack for this,
question but who are your top three teammates you've played
with over your twelve?

Speaker 9 (26:32):
Years? Yeah come, on, BRO i was going to.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
Ask you your, favorite AND i was, like you, know
give you a little wiggle.

Speaker 10 (26:41):
On Ah, man that that is is nearly.

Speaker 9 (26:45):
Impossible, REALLY i would, go.

Speaker 10 (26:48):
Goodness, gracious top three teammates who were the first.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
Three to arrive at your retirement. Party go with that.

Speaker 9 (26:56):
First.

Speaker 10 (26:56):
Three Drew drew was there, early which was, Surprising breeze
pulled up early to a pulled up early And i'll,
Say Robert, Hunt Robert, hunt.

Speaker 2 (27:07):

Speaker 3 (27:08):

talk smack with you in the locker room like net

YEAH i Mean i've played in that, building so you,
know just being in that, area in that, environment you
see the, fans what they bring to, it and just
being in that controlled, environment like you, said, uh you,
know it gets loud in, There so being in that,
area you, know you feel that, energy you feel the juice.
Scenario it's. Exciting So i'm excited to be a part of.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
It little you're joining Johnsan taylor in the. Backfield one

us you, know being able to keep each other. Fresh you,
know it's a long season and you know WHAT i have.
Envisioned you know that's going on a deep playoff. Run
you got to, have you, know a good stable of
backs to be able to carry the load and help the.
Team so him being one of the top guys in the.
League you, Know i'm excited to learn from. HIM i,

(29:48):
mean you, KNOW i know WHAT i bring to the, table,
so you, know just being able to keep each other
fresh and you, know keep things rolling and keep the offense.
Rolling So i'm excited for.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
That, khalil Your instagram handle Is Juice. Herbert so what's
what's behind the Nickname juice?

Speaker 7 (30:01):
THERE i got it in middle, school with high school
really from one of my, coaches just WHAT i bring
to the, table you, know early in the, Morning i'm
Not i'm that guy coming into lift, early, screaming getting everybody.
Going and you, Know i've carried that through high, school
college and it's just. Continued so it's SOMETHING i look.
For IT i embraced in and it stuck with. Me

(30:22):
so you know a lot of my teammates keep calling
me that and it's grown on me since.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Then, So, khalil not for, nothing but like you're, screaming
you're a high energy. Guy it's the Morning khalil coffee.
CAFFEINE i feel like that could have been like the,
one not. JUICE i don't, KNOW i know it's like
a sugar. Rusher did you ever think about renegotiating that, nickname.

Speaker 7 (30:41):
You, know BECAUSE i don't drink a lot of juice.
Anymore but you, know in high, school you, know middle,
school you, know juice is.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
The thing that was the.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
THING i didn't start drinking coffee till probably last. Year
Now i'm my wife got me into it And i'm
a big coffee guy, Now but juice was the thing back.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Days, Then, yeah let's take it back to the juice.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
Days let's play a game real, quick, Right so with actual.
Juices you got, apple you got, orange you got. Pineapple
you have to start. One you have to bench, one
you have to cut, one.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Or you can replace.

Speaker 7 (31:11):
One let's talk, juices all, Right i'm gonna Replace i'm
gonna replace pineapple juice With.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
All the juices, combined.

and Then i'm A i'm gonna cut apple.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
Juice, Okay, RIGHT i really take a lot of issue
with the fruit.

Punch Tropic canada has One caribbean. Sunset, okay found in the.
Store you guys are gonna, Along.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Oh, yeah for.

Speaker 6 (31:53):
Sure so other than the fact that we are new,
teammates nothing brought to my attention that we share something
else in. Common growing up in The caribbean. Household, now
for those who don't, know that is a different. Experience
it's very it's very different.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
Than a traditional.

Speaker 6 (32:08):
Household so how is that growing up in A caribbean
household shape your success on and off the?

Speaker 7 (32:13):
Field WHERE i? Start? Uh so my mom Is jamaican
and my dad is from The british virginalist From, tartola
SO i got it both. Sides BUT i, mean, REALLY
i feel like just the work ethic of you, know
my parents books from getting, up going to, work not,
complaining you, know providing for, us never, saying you, know

(32:34):
trying to always trying to find ways to make ends
meet and you, know getting things we need and stuff like.
That so growing up and just the, structure you, know
everything is real family. Oriented you, know we have, big big,
parties all families And brited we got loads and loads
of cousins and ANCLES i haven't met, before but just
that's just how we were, raised you, know with the big.

(32:55):
Family so you, know it still comes to play now
THAT i got, kids so, uh you, know helping them,
all helping and growing and helping us grow.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Up so all, right you're you also say you're you're
still a. Foodie, yeah Favorite jamaican.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Like what is?

Speaker 7 (33:19):
IT i gotta give.

Speaker 6 (33:20):
You it's something you just got to beat on one.
Another it's really it's truly an experience to sit there
and watch it be. Prepared put it in the crock
pot and. Everything you got to make sure that the
oxtail is falling off the.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
Bone this is What i'm.

Speaker 6 (33:36):
Talking, yeah you got to make and then they put
the sauce in the gravy and.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Everything put some beans in. It you're getting a little.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
Hungry you got up for a little.

Speaker 7 (33:45):
Cooking my mom she makes them as soon AS i
come back. Home SO i might have to hit her
up today and see what she can.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Do, YEAH i got.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
IT i got A jamaican guy out there for for.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
You and WHEN i get out, there so have the.

Speaker 9 (33:57):
Time for.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
SURE i feel like we're seeing a friendship just for
me very.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
MUCH i, know.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
All, right one last thing we want to know about, You.
Khalil even though The colts don't have a baseball, team
we know that you like to kick off any season
in a grand. Fashion two years, ago you threw out
the first pitch at A White sox. Game people always
have epics stories about throwing out first. Pitches you prepared
a certain, way you wanted it to go a certain,
way and it. Didn't what's your story behind your first
pitch at a baseball game and where their nerves?

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Involved, nah no nerves. Involved you, KNOW i like to
think of myself as a world class. Athlete you, KNOW
i wanted to put my best foot. Forward you, KNOW
i was practicing in the backyard with my, dogs just
playing a lot of, FETs you, know SO i could
feel LIKE i felt like WHEN i got out, THERE
i was able to you, KNOW i wanted to get
on the. Mound you, KNOW i wasn't doing the in
front of the mound. Thing, okay you KNOW i THINK

(34:48):
i think a pretty good ball. Too yeah it's somewhere in.

Speaker 9 (34:52):
There.

Speaker 7 (34:53):
Yeah, NO i definitely felt, like you, KNOW i was
really trying to throw a, strike but you, know it got.
There so that's what. Matters the most.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
So, well we believe you because that's how you told the.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Story tell you if there was, FOOTAGE i have been
a bad.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
Pitch if we would have something, bad then the catcher
have to adjust his position at the batter's box for
him to test the.

Speaker 7 (35:18):
Ball he stayed right. THERE i got it to. Him
it didn't get there as fast AS i wanted to,
come but he got.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
There, okay Good. Khalil awesome to get to know. You
good luck with The, colts AND i am happy that
you get to play. Inside now we need. It we
need a full report Of kalil And nick's romance and
restaurant tour development In indianapolis. Too all, right, everybody nice
to see. You goodluck. Football South carolina safety and friend

(36:02):
of our, Show nicki Min wore is the fifth team's
rank prospect On Daniel Jeremiah's top fifty. List on this
episode Of First, draft he talks about how he manifested
his combine performance and the meaning behind his jersey.

Speaker 11 (36:14):
Number one way to describe me would be. Generational be
prepared to be.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Astounded he elevated his draft.

Speaker 7 (36:25):
Stock wasn't a better athlete than nickname.

Speaker 11 (36:28):
Anymore kim And Warren Warri nicki Min warri defensive Back South.
Carolina that is.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Awesome this guy's.

Speaker 11 (36:34):
Legit the night before the, COMBINE i wrote in my
whiteboard vertical forty three forty three broad jump eleven five
eleven and a half broad forty four three through four
three five a sub four four. FORTY i didn't hit my,
forty but it just shows what type of MINDSET i
had and what type of BELIEF i had in myself
coming into the, combine AND i backed it. Up my

(36:58):
style of players kind of, Real i'll say. Unique WHEN
i was in, college you, Know i'll just prided myself
on being able to play every. Position you, know played
a little bit of, nickel got a lot of good
tape on, there play a little bit of strong safety
and free. Safety So i'm just real versatile And i'm
big enough to come off the, edge fast enough to
guard your slot, receiver physical enough to tackle a running.

(37:21):
Backs seven seven seven CHAIN i had Got and that
just meant a lot to me because my jersey number,
seven my birthday Is february, seventh and my family have
a total of seven family. Members that are seven reasons
WHY i play so like it just resonated deep with.
ME i got fourder. Brothers so the household was, crazy

(37:42):
but it was. Fun my ma reus arrests all the,
time a lot OF ww moves we used to do
on each, other but it was a fun. Household we
used to compete all the time growing. Up WHEN i
hear my name called on draft, night, Man i'm gonna
try to be, strong hold it, in But i'm not
sure HOW i. FEEL i HOPE i don't CROWN, tv
but MAYBE i. Will there's been a lot of hard.

(38:05):
Work Everything i've been through a lot of long. Nights
everything's going to pay off. Soon giving back to my,
family being able to support, them support my, community being
one of those guys that made it out From, Irmo South.
Carolina so THE Nfl draft is a Moment i've been
waiting for all my.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Life, hey tears of, joy tiers of, relief we accept them.
All when you hear your name called in THE Nfl,
draft your life is about to. Change we've got a
bunch of dbs at the table this week ON gmfb
and tomorrow on the Show Nick, Cross Will, Blackman Logan,
Ryan they're all going to list their favorite dvs coming
into this YEAR'S Nfl. Draft speaking, of we're ten days

(38:40):
away from the twenty twenty FIVE Nfl, draft presented by Bud.
Light it kicks Off, Thursday april twenty, fourth at eight
pm E cern At Lambeau field In Green. Bay catch
every draft pick from one all the way to Mister
irrelevant pick number two fifty seven live ON Nfl network
or you can stream it ON Nfl. Plus it's been
a day ON gmfb with THE dbs that it's only just.

(39:02):
Beginning we got this crew to day And wednesday this
week ON Nfl, network you Got Nick, cross current safety
for The Indianapolis, Colts Will, blackman And Logan. Ryan they
bring a bunch of expertise and experience in THE nfl
ahead of the, draft but also all these guys entering
the league, now we've had a lot of, conversations as we,
must About Travis hunter and whether or not this young
man can play two ways in THE, nfl both wide

(39:23):
receiver and. Corner of, course he's coming out Of colorado's,
program a program in Which Dean sanders, coaches and we
Know dion as a two way player as well from
time to. Time now in his best season with The,
Cowboys Dean sanders had a pretty good stat, line and
we found these numbers in nineteen ninety. Six this Was
dion as a wide. Out he had thirty six, catches

(39:44):
nearly five hundred receiving, yards and he had one receiving.
Touchdown now there is an unnamed player on the right
in his senior season in college had fifty, catches seven
hundred and sixty three receiving yards and four, tds also
as a two way. Player so entering THE, nfl ken you, Logan,
ryan could you make any? Guests AND i feel like
the hint is right in front of you who this person.

Speaker 4 (40:06):
IS i don't want to spoil. IT i mean those
are big. Numbers those Are heisman type numbers for a guy.
Playing that could be A Charles, woodson maybe it.

Speaker 3 (40:14):
