Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Welcome to GMT. We are live in Los Angeles. We
are live in New York and it is Thursday, March
twenty seventh. I am Sarah Walson for Jamie art All alongside.
It is a standback. We got Peter Schrager, Kyle Brant,
New York. The introduction of Russell Wilson to New York
Yesterday New Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, who greeted by his
head coach, Brian Dable.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
He met the.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Media on his first day on the job in New York,
and even though the team recently signed Jamis Winston, Wilson
was asked if he's going to be the starter on
day one.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:56):
I expect to be a starter coming here and be
graded rock and roll every day. I think to get
a lead. I think this team's really looking for somebody
to lead them in every way in terms of the process,
you know, in the off season, during the season, our
habits and our thought process and how we create you know,
a great winning culture and how do we continue to
establish that. Every NFL team nowadays have two to three
(01:17):
quarterbacks usually three nowadays, and so obviously right now we
have you know, Tommy DeVito with Jamison hiself, and we're
just excited to get to work. And so the great
part about professional sports is constant change, is constant movement
and everything else. If we draft a quarterback, you know,
we'll make sure that he does everything he can to
be ready to go and be prepared with his mentality.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Obviously, drafting a quarterback could still be on the table. Peter,
you just heard from Russell. What's your take on this situation.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, Like yesterday I came to the show and I'm like,
there's no sense. Oh, there's no buzz, but it's a
better quarterbacks room than last year.
Speaker 6 (01:50):
I want to take it about the.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Nick game last night, Russell and Ciar sitting a court side,
like there was some buzz and.
Speaker 6 (01:56):
There was some action. Russell Wilson like New York City.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:00):
There's Chris Rock in the foreground. You could see like
the time, so my guy matdim Mode the backs that Molten, hello,
we love him.
Speaker 8 (02:06):
In the wrestling Filmsion crass Quest also now on Stranger Things,
Biggest Show in the World.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Film that one is to me, I live in a
vision quest world that said, uh, he gets out there
and like you're thinking he's gonna do the press conference
and it's going to be you know, I'm just here
to be to be a team player.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
He was like, I want to be the starter, and
he's not looking at a mentor rookie. Necessarily he will,
you know. But it wasn't one of those where it's.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Like whatever you do, I'm now for him, just happy
for the opportunity, like Russ wants to rock and roll,
and Russ wants to do this. There was a buzz
and for for even a minute, even if it was
just yesterday, it was like, Okay, that's a that's a quarterback.
And I hate to just keep on pilon on Daniel
Jones that he's no longer here. But at no point
with Daniel Jones like let's go, I'm the guy, let's
rock and roll. Daniel Jones never had that wora, I
(02:52):
never had that presence. And whether Russell is the same
guy he was in twenty seventeen and twenty eighteen when
he was competing for MVP Awards and getting the Seahawks
through the playoffs, or he's this different version of himself.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
I think at the very least there's a presence.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
And I'll add this, you know, I'm looking at the
numbers yesterday cause they were coming in and it's ten
and a half million, and he can make up to
I think.
Speaker 6 (03:10):
Fifteen million with incentives, and Jamis will make eight.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Dak Prescott's going to make sixty million dollars to be
the Cowboys quarterback, sixty not six sixty six ohds. Russell
Wilson will make ten. So for one sixth what you're
paying Dak Prescott, you get your starting quarterback. And I
don't know if Dak Prescott is six times the player
that Russell Wilson is. So we'll see and go to
the giant situation Rogers. They had to at some point
(03:38):
be like, we're not going to just sit here and wait.
Speaker 6 (03:40):
They go on.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Rogers is gonna likely be either in Pittsburgh or not
playing at all. And I have Russell Wilson a competent quarterback.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
And you still leave the door open for that third.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Overall, I feel a lot better today about it, seeing
kind of Russ and hearing Russ and seeing him in
New York being well received than I did yesterday.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Where I was like, all right, Russell Wilson, what's next?
You know, you know why you feel better is Russ
is really good at this.
Speaker 8 (04:02):
He's really good at this part. And he looks the
part and he looks great, and he's very famous. And
for non football fans and for football fans, we've been
down the road with Russ for years. And you play
the Super Bowl thing, and he wanted New York. He's
really really good at that. And he comes in and
he has that CEO feel and he speaks well. Everything
he says just has a positive vibe to it. It
(04:23):
also at this point has a vibe of familiarity.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
And here's what I mean.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
Take a look.
Speaker 9 (04:30):
First of all, it's super grateful to be here. It's
a great opportunity to do everything we can to enjoy
this process and.
Speaker 10 (04:35):
Really love just the whole process.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
Here some guys that are on our team that are
some of the best in the game.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Some of the guys have.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Admired playing against, guys like Deshah Lawrence and guys like
Burns and other guys.
Speaker 9 (04:45):
And we've got some amazing players, you know, guys like
you know, Cam Hayward.
Speaker 11 (04:48):
Go work for it every day.
Speaker 9 (04:49):
The goal every day and to be able to do
what I love every day when at all say he
did it that year, helped the Pittsburgh Steelers win, do
special things and win a Super Bowl and maybe hopefully more.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
My bad guy for playing that.
Speaker 6 (05:02):
All right, guys, listen to me.
Speaker 10 (05:04):
Listen.
Speaker 8 (05:04):
Maybe it'll end differently. I hope it ends differently. God
bless the New York Giants. It's a speech by numbers.
You bring them in and it's all the things I'm saying.
It's Russell Wilson. He was amazing in Seattle. He's so positive,
he's so encouraging.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
You have such a great vibe.
Speaker 8 (05:20):
Come in, talk about positivity, competing, mention a couple of
the famous players on the team, and how eager you
are to get to work with them, and how much
you can't wait to get to work.
Speaker 6 (05:31):
And positive and positive.
Speaker 8 (05:32):
Make an appearance in the city, whether it be at
a sandwich shop or a basketball game. Everyone waves, and
then we can doing the next next year and the
next year is he gonna be in Carolina?
Speaker 6 (05:42):
I don't know, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (05:44):
I don't want to be the Debbie Downer here, but guys,
let's not be so naive in a babe in the
woods to say, wow, this is great.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
Okay, you know, Peter, the Daniel Jones thing.
Speaker 8 (05:55):
Daniel Jones was more in demand this year in the
free agency than Russell Wilson was, and is getting paid
more money than Russell Wilson is.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
By the Colts.
Speaker 8 (06:02):
Okay, Russell Wilson is there because the Giants didn't get
Stafford and didn't get Rogers, and the Giants said, we
got to guess somebody, like we got to have a quarterback.
And so there is no message I don't think right
now viable that is like we're gonna win the East
this year. We're gonna take it. We're going back. It's like, listen,
(06:23):
it's been tough. Daniel screwed us. We tried this guy,
We tried this guy, We tried everything, and we could
get Russell Wilson here, and we have a relationship with him,
and he's gonna be a competent professional who's gonna represent
the team well. And they put him on the JumboTron
and since it's March, they're gonna cheer him, but they
probably won't in October.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
It's just it's fine.
Speaker 8 (06:41):
So I'm I don't want to just completely crap on this.
It's a really fun, positive, optimistic viewpoint.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
We've been here before, I've seen this movie before.
Speaker 8 (06:51):
I feel it's momento and I'm looking at that Polaroids
and I know what happens, but it's still the speech
comes out, so God bless Russell Wilson and the New
York Giants. I hope it works out, but I can't
stand here have the ticker tape being like, well, I
think this might work.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
But I don't suspect it probably will.
Speaker 12 (07:06):
Like the Polaroi reference, but I need you to do
like this whenever you talk about Polaroid's.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Okay, we gotta be able.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
To Yeah, you gotta get him to go.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Listen.
Speaker 12 (07:13):
You're right, you couldn't be any writer. Listen, we're talking
about Russell Wilson. I love the fact that you went
back there and showed some of his some of his
very favorite quotes.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
But I want to pull up some.
Speaker 12 (07:22):
Of his affirmations because I consider Russell Wilson to be
a walking affirmation. These are some of the things that
he've said.
Speaker 7 (07:28):
Over the time.
Speaker 12 (07:28):
This is like just a handful of like one hundred
of them. Adversity introduces a man's itself. You can't let
circumstances control your destiny. Mindset separates the best from the rest.
Challenges are what makes slice interesting. I compete to conquer,
oh not just win that, and never be complacent, always
strive for more. So when you have a man who
(07:49):
is a literal walking affirmation, I'm not sure what he reads,
but obviously he's read a ton of books because this
is literally how he speaks. What do you expect for
him to say whenever he signs as the number one
quarterback at this particular moment.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
This dude is a true competitor.
Speaker 12 (08:06):
This is somebody who chose football over baseball when he
was drafted high. This dude, his chips are all in
on the game of football. He's won a Super Bowl,
he knows what it feels like. He's had opportunities. He
had a one year deal last year in Pittsburgh. Guess
what now he's back on a one year deal right
here with the New York Giants. And to your point,
(08:26):
you just touched on all the money aspects, and we
touched on it yesterday as well. He's not getting a
boatload of money. But to Coyle's point, the reality is
he's here because of circumstances. He is here because they
didn't get the guy that they really want, and now
he is here just in case, right, just in case,
they don't get a quarterback in the draft.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
And I think that if they're in position to get.
Speaker 12 (08:49):
A quarterback in the draft, they're still going to take
it because fourteen MS for two veteran quarterbacks who have
playoff experience and a Super Bowl that's not bad to
have as a backup.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Isaiah missed one on your list you forgot off of
that list of but relentless confidence, don't ever stop believing
in you. That's the one that he tweeted out right
before a couple of days before he.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Signed with the Judts.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Look, I think overall, Kyle, like Debbie down over there,
I mean, what is he What do we think he's
going to say?
Speaker 12 (09:13):
Right?
Speaker 3 (09:13):
I mean, he says exactly what we think he's going
to say, and to talk about you know, I don't
think there's a ticker tape parade. This is obviously vastly
different from the Jets situation where Rogers goes to the
Jets and yes, it's like they're going to win this.
What are we really expecting out of the Jets in
all fairness, like, what are we expecting? I mean, he
goes to Pittsburgh that was a different story.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Right.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
This is a team that believes and believe for a
large part of the year, probably until that end stretch,
that they could very much be in this thing and
go far in this thing. This is a New York
team that had three wins last year. Only Tennessee and
Cleveland are the other two teams that had three wins.
So I think, what are you asking of Russell Wilson?
And then when we blow it out and oh, well,
like you know this isn't going to change. Yeah, I mean,
(09:52):
what's the what's the realistic hope that we go from
three to seven? I mean, I'd be doubling the wins, right,
I think also, Peter, is there any scenario because because
it's immediately you start even when he signed your state
right turned the page, We're like, okay, rust to the Giants?
What's this mean for Aaron Rodgers? And then it's like,
what's this mean for the Giants draft? Is there any
scenario if quarterbacks don't go one and two Giants are
(10:14):
there at three? Is there any scenario they're not taking
a quarterback. Is that even being entertained.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Absolutely absolutely, If I am Duel Carter or Travis Hunter
is higher on their board, this gives them the luxury
they don't have to take Shador Sanders.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
Here's what's interesting about Shador.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
His prodey is not until April fourth, and the Giants
have never had a private workout with him, so they're like, we.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Didn't throt the combine.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
We saw him at Colorado, but like, we haven't even
gotten our hands out, Like they haven't done the workout yet,
so shake Tyranny and Mike Kafka and all the offensive
staff with Brian Dable not until April fourth, the pro
days late, and to not have any private workouts with
him yet, like they don't. They're not they're not held
bent on Shador Sanders yet, and they're not held bent
on Jackson Dark or Kim Ward for that matter either.
(10:58):
So I think it gives them the luxury if they
do want to take a quarterback here and they assume, gosh,
we're not going to be the three pick anytime soon.
Speaker 6 (11:06):
We got to get one while we can, or hey,
our jobs are on the line.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
And this gives us a life like life raft and
maybe should door can give us some buzz and an
opportunity to stay in these jobs. Both those make sense,
but Sarah, I would push back on this, and I
know everyone thinks I'm like coming out of like a
Polly and they're like Malik Neighbors broke every rookie record
as a wide receiver last year, Tyrone Tracy ran for
eleven hundred yards last year. They have the number three
overall pick, and they were one to nine in one
(11:34):
score games last year.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
I don't think the Giants are a complete like.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Moonshot away from being at least relevant in the NFC
if you add in a quarterback. Now, Kyle's absolutely right.
Matthew Stafford was the number one priority.
Speaker 6 (11:47):
They did not land him. Aaron Rodgers was number two.
They did not land him.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
We're onto options three and four, and if you bring
in Shador it might be three, four and five. I
don't know if that's how they drew it out, but
I do think they're.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Better now than they were a year ago.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
All Right, yesterday morning, we had the great Seth Robins
on with the four of us and we did a
a segment of the show called Name That face. It's
a quis show of sorts where I give you clues
and my co host has the guests who the individual is.
And yesterday it was both wrestlers in honor of Seth
and his WWE background, and football players in honor of
the fact that, oh yeah, we're a football show. Uh,
(12:26):
Isaiah standback who is filling in nobly on this love
He had a rough go at it and take a listen.
I have played quarterback for Kyle Shanahan, Kevin O'Connell, Sean.
Speaker 12 (12:40):
McVay, quarterback, quarterback, quarterback.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Our show, Isaiah, I got nothing for you, So let's
reveal the face and see if I don't know where
guys with the college.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
My two signature moves were the spear and the jackets. Okay,
I got that brock listener, O god, what is that
was the easiest one of them? See, oh God, bless oh.
Speaker 13 (13:10):
That one.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
It was the confidence in which I had that second he.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
Did then you shoot around.
Speaker 11 (13:18):
I know it was not.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Listen he did that.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
He did that Steph Curry long shot as if it
was actually going at the bottom of the.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
Defend yourself, defend yourself.
Speaker 12 (13:31):
Listen, listen, listen. I was just talking to her about this.
My brain doesn't work that way. I've sucked at trivia games, Jeopardy,
all these things.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
This is not my theme. But you know what, I
had a valiant effort.
Speaker 6 (13:43):
You did, and you're so valiant. We're gonna give you
a chance to run.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
It.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Back to the topic of today's same exact game is
guys who redeemed themselves. Guys who redeemed themselves. It could
be in any sort of fashion. It could be a
gaff and a play. It could be an early start
to a tough career like guys who have redeemed themselves.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
Isaiah, standback, Are you ready?
Speaker 10 (14:11):
Is it me?
Speaker 6 (14:12):
Yeah? Well, I don't know. We're gonna go. All right,
here we go, let's try only you can tell you ready.
All right, first one, let's get it up here. Here
are the clues, Bud.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
After my team lost six straight game to the forty.
Speaker 6 (14:24):
Nine ers, we beat them in an NFC championship game.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Okay, I didn't win a playoff game in the first
twelve years of my career. I played a fellow first
overall pick in my lone Super Bowl appearance.
Speaker 6 (14:42):
Who am I?
Speaker 4 (14:50):
I honestly have nothing again, I don't work like this.
Speaker 6 (14:55):
Let me think it through. Do any of the clues
pop for you? And what clue do you want to
to sidher? I'll help you with the clues. We'll go
through him. Who's the guy?
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Who's the guy who played in the super Bowl but
didn't go to a playoff game for twelve years to
start his career?
Speaker 8 (15:13):
Yeah, but he played in the super Bowl and maybe
works nearby where you are now? All right, so SOFI
stadiums next to you. Yes, there's two teams to play there. Yes,
one of them has a quarterback who might be the answer.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Matthew?
Speaker 10 (15:34):
Is it?
Speaker 11 (15:34):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Matthew Stafford?
Speaker 6 (15:38):
Yes it is? Okay, all right, we're off the bat.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
Maybe we got one tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
We already have to do this tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Oh man, Isaiah, Okay, this is tough, all right, all right, Sarah, Yeah,
can you raise him up?
Speaker 6 (15:55):
Let's go, Isaiah said, two super plexes yesterday.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
This is worse.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
I don't even want to address Peter, so we scrapped
the segment segment. I don't know what to do, Sarah,
you're up up, all right?
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I lost my first head coaching super Bowl appearance in
two thousand and five.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
I coached in seven conference.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Championships before winning a Super Bowl. My second Super Bowl
win came against a team that parted.
Speaker 6 (16:24):
Ways with me. Who am I?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Andy Reid?
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Sarah?
Speaker 7 (16:35):
Right, Sarah?
Speaker 6 (16:37):
We needed that one as a group.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
How did you not know?
Speaker 12 (16:42):
Sarah?
Speaker 6 (16:42):
Isaiah gave you the answer is that.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
All right, Kyle, years are going to be a little
bit tough for why because you've been on the show
with me for all these years and we live and
breathe it in a different way with the trivia game.
Speaker 8 (16:56):
I should be on the senior TOURM should be easier
that you should be with.
Speaker 6 (17:01):
Come on, Peter, all right, let's number one.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
My team lost to the Patriots in an AFC championship
game one year and then beat them the next.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Okay, I was a first ballot Hall.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Of Famer in twenty nineteen, so we're going back in time.
It took me fourteen playoff games before finally winning a
Super Bowl.
Speaker 12 (17:24):
Ring.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
But the key one is the first one, I think,
and then you add it all together.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Peyton Manning.
Speaker 6 (17:28):
Peyton Manning's the guest. Let's reveil the face.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
Ooh, ed Reid?
Speaker 8 (17:35):
Ed oh, all right, So I'm thinking okay, So they
lost the Patriots and they beat them the next When
was Peyton a first ballot Hall of Famer? I guess
it wasn't me a few years ago. It wasn't twenty nineteen.
And then it did take them a long time. So
it was all right there, I got stumps, Peter.
Speaker 6 (17:49):
Stump, you hook me? I hooked, joked me.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Ed Reid, Remember Lee Evans drops the pass from the
back of the end zone and Billy Kundiff misses the
field goal. The Ravens the very next year come back
and beat the Patriots, and Ed Reid, who was not
on that first Super Bowl team, finally.
Speaker 6 (18:05):
After all those years in the league, did win a
super Bowl. At the Super Bowl Parade, what pop started?
Ed Reid sing Peter Eddie money, yes with multiple cigars
and yes, yeah, all right.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
So I didn't get it right either.
Speaker 6 (18:23):
I got it wrong.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Isaiah, you get a chance to get back in the saddle.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
Come on, baby, do you want to go to.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
That last one? So I was That's the closest.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
I would have been closer than I was.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Ray Lewis won a Super Bowl that first the first
couple of years of his career, though, so.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Let's go into this one for you, Isaiah.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
All right, remember guys who redeemed themselves. I've beaten my
former team in the playoffs. I am a former first
overall pick.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Not Stafford, we used him already.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
I married my longtime girlfriend in twenty twenty four. If
you're into the People magazine stuff, I got it that first,
that first bullet, Isaiah.
Speaker 6 (19:07):
It's not only former team, it's also former coach.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
Just just nothing.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
Think of the number one overall picks. That's a pretty
tight club. Not a lot of those fourteen former I'm
stumped on three.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Peter, give us some color on that one.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
I don't I don't know. Is that Braxton Barrios.
Speaker 10 (19:33):
This is a.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Significant other who has been on hard knocks many years
and has some celebrity herself.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
Okay, i'll see. And Taylor ain't married. Not a number
one overall pick.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Grow with Jared.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Kind of help Isaiah here, Jarrett Golfish, Yeah.
Speaker 13 (19:52):
My gosh, all right, nice John, Jared and Kristen got
married in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
Yeah, that's awesome. Congratulations to them.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Harper.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
Right, Yeah, well I think's probably golf now I should know. Yeah, Okay,
there it is. Shout out to the producer who gave
that answer to Isaiah his ear. We love you guys, Sarah, Sarah.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Well, sh are you ready for someone who redeemed themselves.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
In a different type of way?
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Great, all right, No one likes being overlooked. This guy
with a fourth round pick, next bullet. He was the
sixth running back selected in his draft class, and he
led all rookies in rushing yards last season.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Who am I? Oh, I should know this because it's
not m hm, Why did you give this to you, Sarah?
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Because it's Bucky Irbie?
Speaker 8 (21:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (21:04):
Yeah, show the picture. Waltz goes two for two and
two for two.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Tomorrow's topic might be those who are perfect, Sara, Well done.
I'm impressed. Why did you question Bucky at first?
Speaker 6 (21:18):
What clue were here at?
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Because I was just thinking about because he had so
many incredible stats, and I was just thinking about, like
all his scrimmage yard stats, So I'm like, did somebody
actually have more rushing yr like he? I mean, he
had his stats overall were like so incredible, And I
also thought you wouldn't give me a box, So I
think I was like just I was overthinking it.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
That's why that's all. But that's what we went in
head first.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yeah, all right, the viewers at home, Bucky Irving led
all rookies, and rushing Tyrone Chercey was second. Those are
two guys who were Day three picks. Something to consider
when you're watching the draft this year. Kyle, are you ready?
Speaker 4 (21:55):
I am ready?
Speaker 8 (21:55):
And there's a lot of stakes in this one because
the seven kind of falls on its face if the
last question is flat, So we have to end on
a crescendo.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
So it's pressure on me.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Give it, go ahead, Let's go and Madden and Madden,
there's rookie and there's all pro.
Speaker 6 (22:09):
Kyle, this is all pro. Sorry, but I went.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Undrafted despite a decorated college career in which I broke
the NCAA's all time passing yards record.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
That's a big record right there.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I've played for seven different NFL teams as both a
starter and a backup.
Speaker 6 (22:33):
I've completed one of the greatest passes in NFL postseason history.
Who am I?
Speaker 8 (22:39):
Kyle Brich A lot on my shoulders here. I think
I'd like to use my lifeline. I'm gonna call my dad, Dad.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
How you doing? Good night?
Speaker 8 (22:50):
It's Kyle I'm on the show with Peter. I don't
need your help.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
I just want to call you to tell you I'm
gonna win the million dollars because it's face Keenum.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Kyle got it.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Hey in honor of Bet and for all you can't
Skeeno fans out there, roll the damn tay, Chris McClain.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Get to a baby.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
Oh my god, that said.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
We got the tape of the.
Speaker 7 (23:18):
Band twenty four to twenty three New Orleans. Ten seconds
to go. This is all a under right here, Vikings
at their own thirty nine. It's thurned down. Everybody on
their feet.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
It's quiet.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
They're letting the offense operate. Yep, here we go.
Speaker 13 (23:35):
This is one.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
This is one legends are made.
Speaker 12 (23:37):
Paul.
Speaker 14 (23:41):
We need a Greg Lewis moment. We need a Minneapolis miracle.
Here we go, case on a deep throp steps up
in the pocket. You'll fire to the right side.
Speaker 10 (23:59):
Damn.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
I want.
Speaker 14 (24:14):
One of the most amazing finishes, not only in the
history of Minnesota Vikings football.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
That's New England Patriots legend, the fun days, Ryan Foxborough, amazing, amazing,
real quick. That is Paul Allen's voice, the radio voice
of Vikings, but also shout.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
Out to Everson Griffin, Lynvald Joseph.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
There is that is that is in many years, but
we have a lot of familiar faces. And Kyle Brandt,
I am beyond impressed that you got that.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
Got it, no problem, buddy.
Speaker 8 (24:44):
I had to get us home and we will do
it again tomorrow. We'll do I was We're we have
to do a redemption for the redemption, but we'll do
blome up with something tomorrow too.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
Great job, guys. Wait to hold down in La well, Donna.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Isaiah's calling out doing a second again.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
By the way, I'm crawling.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Under the Ta.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
Boise State holding It's pro day on Wednesday. Running back
Ashton Genty widely regarded as the top back in the draft,
taking part. He did not run the forty, but he
did take part in drill. Genty the top running back
on Bucky Brooks position rankings, and was asked why he
should be RB one on draft day.
Speaker 10 (25:23):
Ashley the best available running back in the twenty twenty
five NFL.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
I believe so.
Speaker 11 (25:31):
I mean, you know, I'm not gonna say turn the
tape on, but if you've never turned my tape on,
you know I'm a three down back. You know, exceptional
with the ball in my hands, can run any top
of run scheme you want, inside outside, you know the
past game, good hands, good routes, and then you know
(25:51):
you talk about third downs protecting that quarterback.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
So you know, I'm a full all around running back.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
It is a new day for running backs in this league.
At least it feels that way. Peter, how do you
feel about Ashton Genty NFL?
Speaker 6 (26:06):
Yeah, I think it's this guy's the limit.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
And you know, you think about every year it's like
here's b Jon Robinson and then you know one other
year it's gonna be here's Adrian Peterson. There are these
few names that are like we we've been hearing about
jend all season and the numbers are outstanding. It's where
where can he come and where can he make an
immediate impact? Because I think he is a top ten pick,
But like what team can he lift on his shoulders
(26:31):
and say I'm gonna get you there? When you think
about it, if he's the number one pure player in
this draft, regardless of position, if you're Cleveland at two
or if you're the you know, the Giants have have Tracy,
I guess, but like you start thinking about these teams
in the top five, and it's like, this is not
the greatest draft top to bottom as far as like these, why.
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Not just say this is the year.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
I'm just gonna take a running back like the old
school days where you would take a Marshall Fulk in
the top five, or.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
You would go and just go and a Leonard Fournette
if you.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Have to, and you're like top ten, I'm taking a
running back. I think I think this might be one
of the shockers in the draft if he goes I
don't know, five to Jacksonville, you know, top four to
New England, like six of the Raiders.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
Clicks of the Raiders like, to.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Me, the sky's the limit, and I'm excited to see
where he ends up.
Speaker 12 (27:18):
I'm excited too, And I'm up here smiling because you
can see that villain smile come on his face.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
As soon as that question started coming.
Speaker 12 (27:24):
He just kind of sitting up there like yeah, And
I would have that villain smile too if I had
this man right here speaking highly about me.
Speaker 10 (27:33):
I mean, I see his speed, I see the strength.
I see also an ability to slip tackles. He's a
home run hitter, you know, you don't. You don't get
a clear shot on him. Now we'll see if those
things translate to the next level. But to me, he
looks like he has a lot of great, you know,
(27:56):
characteristics of a of a really really you know, top
running back.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
That's a smile I would have on my face.
Speaker 12 (28:07):
Mister Barry Sanders, not just Barry Sanders. Mister Barry Sanders
was speaking highly about me. If any running back in
college football had two thousand yards rushing, I think we
always sit up here and be like Dank, that's one
heck of a season. He had two thousand yards rushing
after contact. This dude is an absolute beast. That's insane.
And for those it go run two thousand yards and
(28:28):
come back and talk to us. That's after contact. That
means that this dude has his feet underneath us. When
you see him do his drills, he's always under control.
It's one of those guys that almost makes everything look
too easy. It's very smooth. It seems lethargic, but he's
moving down the field.
Speaker 4 (28:42):
I like this guy. Barry Sanders liked this guy, and
he likes himself.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
It's more than just how good he is as a player.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
He strikes me as someone it's almost as if he's
playing free agency perfectly, and the timing and the climate.
He is a great running back at the perfect time
to be a great running back, when everyone's eyes just
fell out of their hat about Sa Kwon and Derek
Henry last year and Christian McCaffrey the year before, and
everyone's so thirsty for a running back.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
Peter's right. As recently as five years ago, you're saying.
Speaker 8 (29:11):
Yeah, he's great, but just get someone off the scrappeet
for cheap, get raheem Mostert for eight hundred thousand dollars,
and you put him in there and he'll be almost
as good as this guy.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
That's how we all talk. That's how I talk. Not anymore.
Speaker 7 (29:22):
This is now.
Speaker 8 (29:22):
Everyone wants this running back. I think there's listen, it's
not just top five, it's.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Not just top ten. I can see a team trading
up to get Ashton Gent. You want a nuclear take, I'll.
Speaker 8 (29:33):
Just from the hip prediction the Dallas Coboy's gonna trade up,
oh genty. They're like, we're gonna run back the Zeke
rookie experience, but they're gonna have to fight for him.
I think The Bears are really interesting him because you
can don't have to do the math to see what
Ben Johnson did in Detroit with the two running backs.
Speaker 6 (29:49):
I thought Brad Bigs the Tribune had a great, great observation.
Speaker 8 (29:52):
He goes, all right, Ben Johnson, they had sonic and
they had knuckles in Detroit.
Speaker 6 (29:55):
He's like, this guy is sonic and knuckles. You don't
need to guys. He does everything, and Ben Johnson loves
running backs. That's great. The Bear are sitting there at ten.
I don't know if that's rich enough.
Speaker 8 (30:07):
That's where we are with this guy's production, his talent,
everything about it. It's all coming together. If it's not
top five, it'll be six. And if it's not six,
it'll be seven. That's as far back as I'm going.
Great player, great timing on this guy.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
I love that we're talking about the running backs in
this way. And obviously we pulled up that clip from
Barry Sanders yesterday because it just flashes back in my head.
Speaker 6 (30:25):
It wasn't that long ago.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
I remember talking to Derrick Henry at Titans training camp,
and I don't know if you guys remember the running
backs got together and had this zoom call. And sort
of this conference of running backs talking about the state
of it and just it's absolutely flipped. And then the
other thing that Peter brought up that pops back in
my mind is talking about this guy going number one
running back, two top running backs rookies last year, fourth
(30:47):
round pick, and a fifth round pick.
