Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio, Good Mom Football.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
That's right, this is Good Morning Football. Get in here,
Welcome inside our show. We are presented by old Trapper
Beef Jerkey live in LA and New York.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
It's Tuesday, January seventh. Here's Akbar baj Ba, Milla, Peter Schrager.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Kyle Brant, I'm Jamie rdall Off and I are sitting
here in silence before the show because we feel like
we're doing homework. We have a lot of tasks to
get to today on GMTS. We right, we got our
whiteboards in front of us, we got our note cards
in front of us that may have something to do
from September. First, Kyle, can you give us a little
teaser what this first hour in the show has in
store for us.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna look back. We're gonna look
back to September and now that we have the entire
playoff field set for this coming weekend. We predicted all
fourteen playoff teams back in September. We're going to look
at those picks now. It takes me back to college.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Some people call it the walk of shame. Some people
call it the stride of pride. It depends on your philosophy.
We're going to see how bad or how good our
playoff picks worth.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah, I've never heard that one may have to now
not a shame my shoes.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I don't give it down the same out. But as
last night, it still looks good on you, buddy. All right,
time of the ly block. Let's set forth on the whiteboards.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
First, Okay, we will have a prop that means we're
going to rank things. We're going to see things, and
we're going to go down and post it on social
media and we're all going to get crushed for it.
Here we are, the tournament is set, set your brackets.
The postseason begins in just a few days. That's your
look at wild Card weekend. There are some teams on
that schedule that you may not have expected to see
(01:55):
when the season got started, but as things started to
become a little more clear, now we see them for
who they really are, and they are playoff teams. We've
seen this before. It's a team that sneaks into January
and then.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
They go on a run.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
So let's grab our whiteboards and we're going to start
in the AFC. First, we're looking at you wildcard teams and.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
We are going to rank three two one.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
So you have your pick from the Broncos, the Steelers,
and the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
The number one team.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
On your list will be the team most likely to
go for a run in January.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Be your upset team if you will.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
So three two one Peter has to go first, list
them accordingly and give us your why.
Speaker 6 (02:35):
Okay, I'm writing right now as we speak. Okay, I
go by the recent product that I have seen, and
I go by what my eyes have told me.
Speaker 7 (02:48):
I know this would not have been the case.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
If we asked us this on December fifteenth, but here
we are, and we're in January. I think the Chargers
are the most likely to go on a run based
on the performance we have seen from Justin Herbert of late.
The Broncos the same most and then I have lost
faith in the Steelers.
Speaker 8 (03:07):
I could be proven wrong.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Mike Tomlin could.
Speaker 7 (03:09):
Pull a rap out of his hat. I just know this.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
I have watched the Steelers on a national window game
four weeks in a row against three teams going to
the playoffs and one team that was just on the
doorstep in Cincinnati, and they lost all those games. It
feels like a year ago since I saw the Pittsburgh
Steelers put up five hundred yards on the Bengals in Cincinnati.
We have hard knocks. Now, we're chronicling the downfall of
(03:33):
a team. Can they pull out of it? Sure, it's possible.
They've got a tough one this week. Obviously they're going
into Baltimore. I don't see them winning that game. Broncos
Sean Payton sneaky.
Speaker 8 (03:44):
Who knows.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
Maybe the Bills come out and they're tight like a
drum te this week, and the Broncos going there. In
the set of Chargers, I think will beat the Texans.
Then the Chargers would play the Chiefs. Most likely Chargers
and Arrowhead. We saw that on a Sunday night earlier
this year and the Chargers came pretty close and the
Chiefs were able to sneak by. I like their chances
more than these other two. So I go Chargers, Broncos,
(04:08):
and then the Steelers.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
Sorry, Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
I'm just going on what I've seen the last month
of football.
Speaker 8 (04:12):
I think that's totally there.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Peter.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I don't think you have to be I wonder if
some Steeler fans would have it the same way. Right there,
all right, I'm gonna go up next. I got one, two,
three as well. I'm just gonna reveal it like Peter did,
slightly different than Peter. I'm gonna go Chargers, Steelers, Broncos
down at the three now, going on a run.
Speaker 8 (04:29):
Let's explain what that means.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I would think going on a run means you at
least get to the title game, if not win the conference.
No rookie quarterback has ever started the Super Bowl ever
in history. It's never happened. If bo Nick's got to
the Super Bowls may be the first one ever. Out
of respect for what they have accomplished. I put them
here because they do have a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 8 (04:47):
The Steelers. Listen, it's ugly as hell. It's ugly as hell.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
And I think again, ask any Steeler fan right now
and they will sit you down as how much time
do you have? The division opponent? Thing is crazy, It
is tricky, It is weird. It goes either way. I
know that the Ravens, I haven't even seen the line.
I know the Ravens are gonna be a huge favorite,
and they should be strange things happen when divisional opponents
play each other in the playoffs. This is the most
important football game for Mike Tomlin. I think in a decade,
(05:12):
like a huge, huge game, And if he loses this game,
I think it's no playoff wins in eight straight seasons. Chargers,
look Out, look Out. I love this team, even with
some division winners. I love how they run the ball.
I love the quarterback. I told you this coach was
gonna win eleven games from the second he was hired.
They went exactly eleven games, and I'm not sure he's
done in the playoffs. Eleven wins right on the nose. Chargers,
(05:35):
They're bigger than just this list for me. They are
like a darling for me. I love the Chargers.
Speaker 8 (05:39):
Easier for me.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Chargers, Steelers, Broncos most likely in my opinion, to win
the conference.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
What's your sign? What's your sign? I'm just curious.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
He's a January birth.
Speaker 8 (05:49):
We're right, we're right, bellying up on it. I'm an aquarius.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
I don't believe in any of that stuff, and I
don't believe in it back in the day.
Speaker 9 (05:54):
But if you do a bar, that's my sign. I
don't know any of that stuff. I'm a Taurus, but
you and I are twins.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
That was gonna miss fire signs something you know what
it is. I don't even know what that is.
Speaker 9 (06:05):
But I've got Broncos, Steelers and Chargers, and everything you
said about the Broncos the Steelers, I think about the Steelers,
and I think about the fact that, guys, you're going
up against the Baltimore Ravens. The Baltimore Ravens seem unstoppable
at this point, but when you're asking who's going to
make the far run, who's going to go the furthest Yes,
the Chargers.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
And I'll tell you the one reason why.
Speaker 9 (06:26):
I love the fact that they've got a passing game now,
and a passing game that I think I can feel
confident in when you think about, obviously Quentin Johnson and
his struggles this last game, going over one hundred yards
in this pass game, and like very confident. And I
love the fact that Jim Harbaugh stuck with him, He
didn't shy away from him, he kept pressing into him.
And what that does for an athlete, I'll tell you.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
What that does for an athlete.
Speaker 9 (06:49):
It makes them confident to know that in the playoffs
that he can step up. They've got the one game
back there healthy at the run game JK. Dobbins, he's
looking good. I like the Chargers to go really far
and compete with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
All Right, I'm going to do something on the show
that I just like, when in doubt, just do this.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I dis agree with what Peter said. No, just at
my ranking.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Just at my ranking was the same as Peter, so
I didn't want it to But my logic mostly a line.
I was reading this article just previewing the wild card games,
and it was who has been the bigger playoff disappointment
in that first game between the Steelers and the Ravens,
Harbor Tomlin. It was just like I kind of wanted
to not look and read it. At the same time,
I just hate the fact that those two coaches, for
(07:32):
as much success as they have had, are a part
of articles like that, and the Steelers Ravens game like
that is going to go down. It's like, if the
Steelers lose once again in that first game, especially in
a divisional opponent, it's not a good look for Tomlin
and everything else that Peter shake said.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
So thank you Peter. Now let's do the same with
the NFC. Please rank here.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
They are vikings, commanders, hackers. You must rank these teams
from least likely to go on a run and win
the conference to most likely to your number one team
is most likely to go on the road, win the conference,
and go on a.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Run in January. Peter, you are a purse.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
With what I bet if I'm gonna applaud our production
staff is going to be the appropriate lower third.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Jessica, well done.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
Let's see Jessica's got it all right.
Speaker 8 (08:23):
Perfect way to go, gant job. I'm gonna rank them, Jessicas.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 6 (08:27):
Three to one here. Commander's been an awesome story. You're
talking about who's going to go on an actual run?
Speaker 8 (08:33):
Here?
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Though?
Speaker 7 (08:33):
Who's gonna actually take.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
Kyle said it earlier with bout Nicks. We've never seen
a rookie quarterback go the distance. We've seen him go
to AFSC championship games. Joe Flacco did it, Mark Sanchez
did it. We've never seen them go the distance though,
I think they're a year away. Still, I think it's
been an awesome story. I don't think they're gonna win
three playoff games this season. Sorry, Jamie Vikings. It's a
(08:56):
tough second round matchup right there. It's a tough second
round matchup.
Speaker 7 (08:59):
And it could change.
Speaker 9 (09:00):
If the Packers or the Commanders win, they play.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
The Lions, it could change. So I'm just saying that
I don't know. I don't know if they're going to
go all the way through this thing. If they were
home for maybe, I don't know if they're gonna go
on the road and go do this thing. The Packers
are my one, despite being the seven, and I'm sorry,
my Markers will live here.
Speaker 7 (09:17):
They did it last year.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
They went into Dallas, as I said, they beat the Cowboys.
Then they gave the forty nine Ers absolute hell and
took them to the very final whistle. Their only losses
this season the Packers are the Bears last week, which
I don't even count as a game because of the
way that whole thing went down. I don't know I
count it, but I'm not gonna put too much credence
into it.
Speaker 7 (09:35):
Then the Vikings, the Lions and the Eagles.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
They can get their revenge, and they can get their revenge,
and they can do so in the grandest fashion. I
still believe in the Packers, a team that I picked
before the season as a wildcard team to go on
a run. Here, I think the Packers, Vikings, and then Commanders.
If you're asking me to rank the three of the
NFC wildcard teams, this is interesting.
Speaker 8 (09:57):
This is really interesting. I'm just gonna put mine up.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
I got Vikings, Commanders, Packers, go I have Packers three.
This is why we do the segments. We don't pre
produce these things like other shows. Will we script the
debates so Peter and I can fight about I had
no idea if Peter was going to write that Vikings
or Vikings, I'm gonna choose to believe that they were
tense and a little bit weird in that Lions game,
and I'm going to give him a pass because of
their record and because of their leadership.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
The Commanders.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
I just got a feeling about the Commanders, and I
know I said it last segment that no rookies ever
started Super Bowl. I don't think the Commander's gonna win
the NFC, but I can see them as the team that,
oh my god, they're in the title game. In representing
the Commanders and then the three Packers, I just don't
like where the energy is right now. I'm sorry, it's
not the impersonal. I think that Christian Watson injury is
really big. I think he's very very important for Jordan Love.
(10:41):
I think he plays his best football when he's out there.
In order for them to go to the title game,
or at least certainly win the title game, they're gonna
have to beat Detroit. I don't like the energy they
have against Detroit this year. Not only are they zero
and two against Detroit, do you know the Packers have
the same record in the NFC North as the Chicago Bears,
one in five. They've lost to the Bears, they've lost
to the Vikings. Toy, they've lost to the Lions.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Toy.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
They gotta beat the Vikings or the Lions to get
to the Super I just don't think it'll happen. Great coach,
great quarterback next year. I just don't see it this year.
Speaker 9 (11:09):
It's gonna be a tough one for the Packers, and
I am concerned about the Watson injury. But at the
number three spot, I've got Washington, and I think primarily
because obviously the rookie. I do think though, that the
Commanders will end up beating the Buccaneers in that first game.
So but that I don't think that they go far.
That's what we're talking about, being able to go far.
Number two, the Green Bay Packers. That injury is massive.
(11:33):
But let's get to the real stuff right here. We're
talking about the Minnesota Vikings. What happened was just what
I call a brain rush, and what happens when you
have a rush. My arms are getting tired holding this
thing up. I still believe in the Vikings. So many
people want to put Sam Donald in a box and go, oh.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Look, he messed up. I told you this was too
good to be true, y'all haters.
Speaker 9 (11:51):
That's what it is. So what he had a bad game.
You know, I'm gonna do this exercise. Can we get
a four box with all of us in here, I'm
gonna do an exercise real quick?
Speaker 5 (11:58):
All right?
Speaker 9 (11:58):
This is what Sam Darnald went through with the Detroit Lions,
bringing all that pressure in three second that's about how
much time you have to be able to throw a
ball at least, you know, with some of the good
defenders coming at you. All right, three seconds, all of
you guys are in Now, I'm gonna ask you a question.
Name all right, three countries that start with an A
right now, one, two, three, Albania and America. See what happens?
(12:29):
You know the answer and you just freeze up. Your
brain freezes up. That's our media to Sam Darnold and
his game. I suspect that he's going to be well
prepared coming into this first game.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
They win and they go far. I see Vikings.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
It has been well documented in my academic stresses through life.
I did not enjoy that exercise whatsoever. Off bar name three.
That was terriblen't. I don't want to do that at all.
I can't play quarterback. I'll go just I just that's all,
say Peter. Everybody else with the Vikings is number one
except for Peter. So I'll go with this just mostly
because I'm having fun with the screen grabs today.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
I don't really feel like franking.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Anything that's going to end up somewhere.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
That's exactly right. Okay, here we go. Tom Pelisero, good
morning to you.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
You guys had a busy day yesterday, and by you guys,
I mean the insiders.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Thank you for your service. Of course. What are we
looking at today, Well.
Speaker 10 (13:22):
Jamie, let's start it by talking about some of the
people who are going to be interviewing for the head
coaching jobs that have evolved over the past several months.
In the past couple of days, no candidate with more
heat than Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who is one
of the top candidates for a third consecutive firing cycle.
He has received two requests so far, one to interview
with the Bears, one to interview with the Patriots. My
(13:45):
understanding is Johnson will interview for both those jobs virtually
during the Lions by this week. That is significant because
you remember two years ago Johnson could have had the
Carolina Panthers job, decided he was not going to follow
through with that. Last year, he was a primary candidate
for the Washington Commanders, ultimately decided to stay in the
That's not to say that Johnson is definitely taking a
(14:07):
job this time around, but at minimum the fact that
he is going to take these interviews shows that he
has real interest and intrigue with both of those physicians.
The Bears put out about ten requests in all four
head coaching interviews on Monday, including one for current Cowboys
head coach Mike McCarthy. Now, McCarthy's contract does not expire
(14:30):
until one week from today next Tuesday, so until January fourteenth.
The Cowboys don't even have to respond. They would have
to grant permission for McCarthy to interview elsewhere. There is
no reason right now to believe at this point that
the Cowboys do not want to move forward with Mike
McCarthy as their head coach. However, they still need to
have conversations about what exactly that looks like in twenty
(14:53):
twenty five and beyond, because McCarthy is said to become
a free agent in a week.
Speaker 8 (14:58):
This is very much a two way street here.
Speaker 10 (15:00):
You've got issues like linked of contract, not just for McCarthy, assistants,
the assistant coaching pool, how things operate as a broader
football operation. All that is subject to conversation between Jerry
Jones and Mike McCarthy, and this one might take a
few days. The Seahawks did not waste any time on
Monday firing their offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb after just one season.
(15:24):
Grub had been the coordinator at the University of Washington
when Michael Pennix was throwing to romadoonsa in those guys,
they put up huge numbers initially took the job last
year at Alabama, but then the Seahawks convinced him to
come to the NFL and go to Seattle. As the
season played out, there were just too many times where
the Seahawks offense was inconsistent where they struggled, especially when
(15:45):
it came to running the football early in games. The
run pass mix just wasn't what the Seahawks were looking
for here. Gino Smith threw the ball all over the place.
They put up numbers. They got their tenth win in
Sunday's finale against the Rams in LA. But the Seahawks
moving on here firing Ryan Grubb, I would anticipate Jamie
as they seek a new offensive coordinator, figuring out how
(16:07):
to better run the football will certainly be a focus.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
All right.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Now that the playoff matchups are all set in stone,
it's time to reflect on our preseason picks in a
segment that we are going to call constructive recap, not
constructive criticism, because we don't criticize here. We just want
to look back and assess and evaluate and just talk
about how we really feel about our picks from early
this season.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
How does that sound for everybody?
Speaker 5 (16:36):
Sounds great?
Speaker 3 (16:38):
So we don't have to raise our voices.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
We just speak your heart and speak to you and
what you went through back from early September.
Speaker 7 (16:45):
First.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Now Peter is going to begin, and Peter take it.
However you would like to go in the AFC and
NFC in your preseason predictions.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
Yeah, I'd start off by saying, no other show does this.
Every show makes predictions, No other show actually has to
put playoff teams in. Every other show says here's my
super Bowl pick, and if it's wrong, no one even
thinks about it because, okay.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
You're wrong.
Speaker 8 (17:05):
What about gambling picks and fantasy pics.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all that stuff. They don't recap it,
say how bad they are after they give you a
horrible tip on that.
Speaker 8 (17:14):
Analytics.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
None of that's nothing.
Speaker 8 (17:16):
They just keep going our show.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
We put our name on it, and we want to
you know, read the room, but we also want to
get the.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Proper tribument.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
We're wrong.
Speaker 6 (17:25):
I said the Jets are going to be the number
one seed in the AFC. Folks, take a look at
my AFC here. I said the Jets are going to
be the number one seed in the AFC. And I
was very wrong, and I have not only faced the criticism.
Speaker 8 (17:37):
Head on online. I live in New York City.
Speaker 6 (17:40):
We're every time I go out in public and there's
a Jets fan and they know our show, they say.
Speaker 7 (17:44):
What the hell were you talking about? Schreker. I get it.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
I will wear that. I will wear it for the.
Speaker 7 (17:49):
Rest of my career. I said the Jets are going
to be the one seed in the AFC.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
Here, I'm more offended a byt the Juguars. Okay, I
don't care about the Jets.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
I moved out of the Jaguars, but I'm going to
take my flowers too, all right, because there is no
person in sports media that said this.
Speaker 7 (18:04):
Take a watch, Kyle. On the commercial break, we talked
about going out in.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
A limb, going out. Do you have any picks that
are gonna blow people? You have to the number five
seed in the AFC or the Denver let's go rookie
bow knicks, the sixth quarterback. No Justin Simmons, no Tim Patrick, no,
all these guys that you've known on this team. In
Sean Payton, I trust he's had a full year to
(18:31):
get his cards in order and put his guys in
places that he wants to succeed. I have seen this
guy do it with a lot less in New Orleans.
I've got the Denver Broncos making the it's.
Speaker 8 (18:40):
Been a minute, Peter, it's been a minute for Theroncos.
That is an awesome pick.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
Since Peyton Manning was the quarterback, they have not been
back to January football.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
Okay, feeling good?
Speaker 5 (18:51):
All right?
Speaker 6 (18:52):
So I got the Jets wrong, but I had that one.
Can dunk on them a little bit, all right, NFC.
Let's see my NFC picks here, okay, cause I felt
pretty good here too.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
I felt like I did.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Okay, I made some mistakes, but the big ones here.
Speaker 7 (19:06):
I got the.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
Falcons over the box, which was wrong. I thought the
forty nine. I might picked the four nineers to win
the division. I knew the Rams and win the division
at the time. That was a shocking pick.
Speaker 7 (19:14):
And then I had the Seahawks, who are a ten
win team, So I'm not so upset everyone had the Cowboys.
I didn't have the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
A lot of people had the Bengals and the Dolphins.
Speaker 8 (19:23):
In the AFC.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
I didn't like what I read of there.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
But if you want to talk about something that was
right on the money, and I am not backing away
from my super Bowl pick is usually pretty good. I
got the Chiefs winning it all this year. We'll see
if that happens. But out of the NFC, listen to
how specific I had this, and remember that the Packers
going into this weekend's game against the Eagles are the
seventh seed. Take a listen to my NFC super Bowl
pick and why I will not stray from that Green
(19:47):
Bay logo. I have successfully picked the last three Super
Bowl champions with pinpoint precision and just enough arrogance where
there are a lot of people who just root against me.
The NFC will be represented by wo We're.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
In love, Matt Lafleur and the Green Bay Packers. I'm
gonna go one step further here on this prediction. Put
this in print.
Speaker 6 (20:12):
They're going as a wildcard team.
Speaker 7 (20:16):
Oh wow, I had them as. I had them as
the seven. If you see my proper rankings, I had
him at the seven. It's why I will not stray.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
I think they go on the wild ride right now,
and I'm gonna double down.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
Packers to the super Bowl.
Speaker 8 (20:29):
Let's go, Packers win three in a row.
Speaker 7 (20:32):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Well done.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Peter as a wildcard team as a wildcard.
Speaker 8 (20:37):
I said it.
Speaker 7 (20:38):
Then they did exactly that.
Speaker 9 (20:40):
Let's go, Hey, Peter, if that happens, that erases the
New York Jets thing, that that eras it.
Speaker 6 (20:45):
Yep, I think it does more than erace the New
York Jets thing. I think it puts me in the
pathanon Akbar. I said that they're gonna go as a wildcard.
Speaker 7 (20:52):
It's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
It's all right, let's go what Peter is doing right now,
it's called wagging the dog. We're gonna create a fake
war overseas, all right.
Speaker 8 (21:01):
That's where Peter lives. Though.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Listen, I didn't come prepared with clips because when it
comes to the AFC, I don't have to roll my
AFC playoff predictions. Come on, yo, buddy club getting tipsy
pretty good, all right? Not only the four on the
left are all in the playoffs, those are all your
division winners.
Speaker 8 (21:21):
Those are all your division winners right now.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
I got the Steelers wild card, I got the Charges
wild card. The one fly in the ointment is I
have the Dolphins in instead of the Broncos game away,
and I regret nothing. I didn't get this wrong, guys.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
I was right.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
The Dolphins were wrong. The Dolphins that glue this. I
got all my picks right.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
They blew it.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
The AFC is an absolute thing of beauty. If you
feel like I'm being excited right now and I'm screaming
flow rider.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
Because wait til you see the abject disaster. I have
the National this is September, all right, this is not good.
I have the Rams and I have the.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Lions, and that's all, folks.
Speaker 8 (22:00):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
My mistake was trusting the Cowboys. I thought they were
just groundhog team. They did the same thing every year.
I didn't trust the Eagles went last year ended fine.
A lot of people took the Falcons. I didn't trust
the Buccaneers. Stupid Niners. I regret nothing. Cardinals, I regret nothing.
Bears had a lot of excitement and hype, and I
don't regret that either.
Speaker 8 (22:16):
I'm at the point with these picks like I'm not
gonna sit here. I don't care. I put it. I
took a shot. Sometimes you don't hit them and make
fun of me. If you want screen cap, you actually
give a damn. I don't care.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
I regret nothing. NFC came out a lot worse than
the AFC.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
But I'll do the.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Same take shots hit. I'm not here to hit singles.
I mean, I'm Jim Toman Homers only. I'm gonna eat
ye road trying to slap hit for five thousand hits,
trying to hit homers.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
That's it. You don't scare money, don't make money.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Man.
Speaker 9 (22:42):
Sometimes you gotta go out there. You gotta put you
gotta put yourself out there. I put myself out there.
And I've been saying since the very very beginning, I'm
gonna pat myself on the back. I'm not very flexible
with my shoulder here, but I am gonna pat myself
on the back. I want you to take a look
at my AFC because the AFC I nailed the division.
I mean that boom boom, boom boom right there out
of the park, coming straight, coming in hot. And then
(23:03):
you know, look technically, the Bengals, you know, the Chiefs
messed me up. The Bengals, you know, they could have
been there. I wanted to see them, but I got
I've got problems.
Speaker 8 (23:12):
We talked about the Chargers.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
I love the Chargers. The Jets.
Speaker 9 (23:15):
I take no fault in picking the Jets. I absolutely
blame Peter Peter and all of the heights and all
of the noise and everything, and I'm going at it, Wow,
like I'm.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
Gonna follow He lives on the East Coast. He lives
out there, so don't go there, you know.
Speaker 9 (23:31):
And so I'm like, all right, it's it's the Jets,
Aaron Rodgers, you got Will Sin. Everything is good. And
this thing just blew up in my face. That was
a disaster. I feel very ashamed that I followed you, Peter,
and I'm upset.
Speaker 8 (23:43):
I'll take a blam.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
Okay, all right, I'm good, dude.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (23:46):
I'm sorry. My fault.
Speaker 8 (23:47):
All right, no worry.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
Somebody else got some smoke coming up here. Take a
look at my NFC now, I.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Was so oh, look at this.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
Now, I was so close with the Falcons. That one
also bit me.
Speaker 9 (23:58):
But everything else, I'm gonna pat myself on the back
as well. The Eagles, the Lions. I've been talking about
the Lions, and you know, I do the Lion King
chant because I believe that they're going to the Super Bowl.
Let's get over here. The Packers.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
I got in the forty nine ers. That's on me.
That's my bad. Everybody knows it. That's my bad.
Speaker 9 (24:13):
I picked them. I thought they were gonna go further.
The Chicago Bears. I take no responsibility in choosing the
Chicago Bears. I blame two people, HBO, Hard Knocks and
BATMN Right there, Kyle, Brent, Kyle, you're Chicago guy, and
you say Caleb and a generational talent, and I'm going,
maybe I don't know what I'm looking at him, maybe
(24:33):
this is this is. I didn't see generational talent. I
saw guy who was talented. I saw a guy who
was constantly under duress. I saw a guy who was
patting the baby and sitting there trying to make too
many big plays. And so for Kyle, I blame you
for making me pick that pick because I wasn't gonna
go there. I wasn't gonna go there.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Two things the Bears haven't lost all year, and Caleb
is undefeated in Lambeau twenty Sorry you and O.
Speaker 8 (24:57):
Guys twenty twenty five, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
I was actually patting my baby as I was coming
up with my playoff team. So as I was stressing
out about this on August thirty first and to the
first and whenever we aired this, there were a couple
of things that I too want to just take ownership of.
So let's look at my AFC. First of all, I went,
let's just big picture. I went nine for fourteen, fourteen
playoff teams, I hit nine of them. The Titans pick
(25:22):
was more for delivery, all right.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
I was like, I'm not going to go talk and
just pick the Bengals. So then I kind of went south.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
And there was the whole connection that they hired away
their offensive coordinator and if you remember, Cale almost fell
off his chair when I showed the Titans thing, which,
if anyone.
Speaker 8 (25:35):
Knows, Jamie number one pick exactly.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
So I think no one has had a bigger disaster
of an AFC pick than that for me with the Titans.
Speaker 8 (25:43):
I also swung the bat though.
Speaker 6 (25:49):
You want to be the worst team in football, you
had him in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
I like that one seed umber one.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
Seed, that's true.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
I think as a collective, no one had the Vikings
logo on any screen whatsoever, which I feel sat because
this is we're talking about this team right now.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
However, there is one point of.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Pride that I have on this screen, and it is
one team that I had winning the division that no
one else had on their screen.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Take a listener. The NFC South, the NFC South. I
feel like a pirate.
Speaker 8 (26:23):
A little.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
That's the fact that I gone chalk.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
I could have gone with the entire table, but in Baker,
I trust Liam Cohen, the new offensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
They let Dave Canals go to Carolina.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
They ran the band back, and I really like Antoine Winfield.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Screen look contexts Ogbard, Peter and I all picked the falcon.
Speaker 7 (26:42):
Who haven't been in the playoffs in many years.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
And the Bucks are really good. So Jamie, I love you.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Tampa Bay. Took you to Tampa Bay.
Speaker 9 (26:48):
Jamie, all right, James, that's feel good.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
That good to go against the Green, to go against
the man, and to pick the Bucks and they win
the division and it's all good.
Speaker 9 (26:58):
So it's a shame that we didn't pick the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Isn't it collective? What are you gonna do?
Speaker 2 (27:03):
There's only one of us, It's only seven teams on
each side.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
Okay, Now one of us kick the commanders either nor
all of us.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Constructive recap. Does everybody feel better?
Speaker 5 (27:15):
I feel better? Stuff?
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Yeah, No, Vikings, We've got Titans covered.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
We're good.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
We're good, We're great.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Let me take the Raiders either, guys, And that's what
it looks out.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Those are your remaining fourteen teams headed to New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Only two will be there on February nine.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
Thought five, What does the Raiders do to you?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Man?
Speaker 5 (27:32):
They don't do anything to you.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Once again, I remind everyone it should not be overlooked
how impressive it is for the production staff on HBO
Hard Knocks to turn around these in season episodes as
fast as they do. The Ravens and the Steelers played
last week. This is the premise for tonight's episode on
Max nine pm Eastern.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
Take a listen.
Speaker 11 (27:54):
Where we at right now?
Speaker 5 (27:58):
Right?
Speaker 11 (27:59):
Didn't we be saying that all year? All year you've
been saying, we've been saying it right and all you
have been chasing eleven different times. We got it done.
We get it done one more time in the regular season.
Stack all those other eleven times up behind us. We
are the AFC North champions. We have earned that. We
(28:20):
have put ourselves in a position to do that. It
says to the Bible, Vengeance is mine, says the lore.
So what he's saying is they'll take care of it.
But I do believe in football you play a team
in the division twice for a reason, would you agree?
Speaker 5 (28:38):
So if we play it twice for a reason and.
Speaker 11 (28:40):
They beat us the first time, vengeance is yours man.
We are going to put the gas to pedal down.
We are going into this game to win everything. Win
every play, win, every series, win, every catch when every throw, win,
every interception, win everything.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
It gets me fired up.
Speaker 9 (29:07):
The Ravens for the post, I mean, let's go, come
on up right now, come on, I'll get down right now,
come on now.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
I know that was great. Oh it was.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
John Hanton And I'm like, no, I'm not like that.
Speaker 9 (29:22):
I just the one and O shirt is so perfect.
They like they hand that out like in coaching school
when you show up on the first day, here's your
one and OH uniform. I was talking with Peter in
the break about the Baltimore Ravens in this playoff season
and they got the Steelers. Now I understand this in
wildcard match up we're gonna talk about all week.
Speaker 8 (29:38):
I would really like to see Buffalo versus Baltimore in
the Divisional.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
With due respect to the teams that they're playing, I
want to see those two because when one of them
has a score to setle with Kansas City.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
And I agree that those are the two teams that
we looked at that could possibly beat the Chiefs.
Speaker 8 (29:51):
But I do go back.
Speaker 6 (29:52):
To what Harball said, we play this team twice for
the fact that we do all these games, two hundred
and seventy two games, and we end up with a
Ravens Steelers.
Speaker 7 (30:01):
Wild Card game playoff under the.
Speaker 6 (30:03):
Lights Saturday, Amazon's first playoff game that they're ever gonna have.
Like you can't script it any better. It's gonna be.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Freezing cold in Baltimore.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
The final score is gonna be something like sixteen to thirteen,
and everyone assumes.
Speaker 8 (30:16):
It's gonna be the Ravens.
Speaker 6 (30:17):
But you know what we didn't see in that clip
Mike Tomlin speech, which I'm sure was pretty damn good.
Speaker 9 (30:22):
Oh you know, he's gonna bounce, He's gonna bounce back,
he's got something to say. But I like the fact
that John Harball is talking about we want it all
like he's set in the temple right now.
Speaker 5 (30:31):
He's setting the pace. We want it all, not just
the Steelers. I mean, he's a pedal to the medal.
He wants it all. Like that gets me juiced up
for this game.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
I feel like when you use the word vengeance, you
only have like maybe two maybe three times you can
use vengeance as a teaching lesson in a coaching moment,
and like he used it ahead of the Wildcought round.
I also liked that the hoodie look on Lamar Jackson
like totally locked in. I want to know where those
red coat the red jackets are from Christmas because I
(30:59):
want to know if he's got those wrapped in the
meeting rooms, Like where are.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Those things, Ravens? Like those could be your good up
charm right shrakes.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
Yeah, he should walk in Jamie, great question, where are
the red jackets?
Speaker 8 (31:10):
We need to know.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
We're on a nationwide search.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
For the red jacket.
Speaker 8 (31:13):
While we're at it, where's that cake? Let's get the
Speaker 6 (31:19):
Jacks will wear the jackets and the custom coats.
