I'm Tom Pilli Ceri. That's Mike Caro Folo back in
New Jersey. He is going to be joining us tomorrow.
We're here at super Bowl Radio Road. Judy, out of
the chaos of super Bowl Opening night.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
How you film? I know I can hear you.

So that's a big I love our signage. I'm very

so that we're.

Speaker 7 (01:15):
Whole accomplished anything Today I hit it to within ten
feet in the PG simulator and I got to hold
the Bundesliga trophy, which Dorman has not held for twelve years,
so that's a bonus.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I said, did you accomplish anything?

Speaker 7 (01:30):
Those are accomplishments ten feet closest to the pin as.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
What we're doing here, Mike until we get to game day.
But we got a lot more to talk about on
the course of this show. The Insiders presented by Fan Duel,
those guys Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurt's going to be taking
center stage on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
It is Super Bowl fifty nine.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
We've got our intrepid NFL Network reporters at both team hotels,
including our Stacey Dale's and Cameron Wolf who join us
right now.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Stacy.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
Obviously, one of the big storylines in this is going
to be how the Chiefs defense attacks this Eagles offense,
and specifically how the Eagles managed to keep feeling Hurts upright.

Speaker 8 (02:14):
That's right, Tom Listen. Jalen Hurts does the leadership role
in more ways than one. They find different ways to win.
And one of the things in talking to him today
that he loves about his offense is trust. And that's
the operative word, and that really starts with arguably the
heart of this offense, and that is their dominant offensive line,
and the man at the helm of that for the

(02:34):
better part of twelve seasons now in Philadelphia is Jeff Stoutlin.
Stoutland University is a real thing. This offensive line deserves
an incredible wealth of respect and they're getting it from
these Kansas City chiefs. And when I ask Lane Johnson,
all pro right tackle today, tell me something specific about
the way that Jeff stoutlind teaches this thing and what
you've learned from him over the years, or give us

(02:56):
a peek inside the room with him. He's extremely passionate,
he's always insistent, and he's always trying to find ways
to get better. Lane told me he makes a lot
of phone calls and he's a big guy in terms
of sports psychology. He wants to know how his players tick,
especially those offensive linemen. So are they visual learners or
our walkthroughs more efficient, for instance, than a two hour

(03:18):
meeting and sitting down for two hours. So he finds
ways to coach these guys individually and then collectively as
a unit. Lane Johnson telling me he's animated in the
meeting room, but he sure is a heck of a
lot of fun. There's no shortage of fun. But put
the fun aside. His all business this week as they
get ready for these Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Really, both these offensive lines cam have their hands full
this week because when you talk about defensive tackles in
the NFL right now, it's hard to find some better
ones that we're going to see on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (03:47):
Tom, to me, that's my favorite matchup with the Super Bowl,
which defensive tackle impacts the game more? Chris Jones or
Jalen Carter on the other set, and I'll start where
Stacey left off with Chris Jones. One thing I'm really
key in on is where Chris Jones lines up on
Mostly on Sunday. He can play inside and on the edge.
He said this past week he doesn't care which way

(04:09):
as long as he can get to the quarterback. The
Eagles have one of the best offensive lines. They like
to keep Lane Johnson and Jordan may Alatta on islands
one on one. But last game in the AFC Championship,
Chris Jones had eleven opportunities in the first half where
he was left one on one. He had seven quarterback
pressures in that moment. The Eagles are gonna have real
questions do you trust leaving Chris Jones one on one

(04:30):
maybe their best way to neutralize them Sakuon Barkley. Chiefs
players have talked all week about their first priority stopping
Saquon rushing the passer. Second, they don't want to blow
past those lanes and have Saquon rush pass them. But
on the other side, Jalen Carter is a game wrecker.
I talked to a couple of Chiefs offensive linemen this
week and they said, we have to communicate. We know

(04:51):
we are not gonna play him one on one. We
gotta pass off our games to make sure he does
not wreck that game. Joe Thuney is really a playmaker
to watch. He played left guard for most of the season,
moved out to left Takwa of necessity. I asked him today,
do you have Andy Reid or Matt Naggy and say
I can play back at guard to face Jalen Carter.
He smirked at me and said they both know I'm

(05:12):
willing to play wherever they need me.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Create.

Speaker 9 (05:14):
Humphrey describe Jalen Carter as very similar to Chris Jones
with their unorthodox ability to rush the passer and get
home from multiple lanes, and so both of These defensive
tackles are going to be full display, and o Lions
had their eyes on them all game.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Tam Stassey, do not move a lot more from you
coming up here.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
These teams hit the practice field for the first time
in Super Bowl Week on Wednesday, and for the Eagles
there's some guys who have.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Not been here before.

Speaker 5 (05:42):
Some of the key additions is Howie Roseman really made
over both the roster and the coaching staff in concert
with Nick Siriani. Last all season we talked so much
about Sakuon Barkley, but you've also got Thelesai Zach Bond
who was on a one year, like five million dollar
deal and as a defensive Player of the Year FINALI
so you bring back CJ. Gardner Johnson's we also bring
back Mike and Ian and Judy. That's a lot of

(06:05):
work that went into an Eagles team that so many
people had questions based upon how the last season ended.
Here and once again, here they are, two years after
the last Super Bowl appearance, playing for a title again.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
I thought it was really interesting last night Howie Roseman said,
you know it was actually he thinks the way that
the Super Bowl ended the Super Bowl that they lost
two years ago now contributed to everything.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
He said.

Speaker 6 (06:27):
You know, they had a pretty active offseason after that loss.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
They came out really good.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
But then he thought they were running on fumes and
after that, as they declined last year. Then they went
into the offseason and he said, they did a really
deep dive into what they needed to do. Obviously, they
knew they needed to do work on the defense because
the defense last year finished the season as one of
the worst defenses in the league. He thought they could
upgrade the running game. We'll get to that in a second,

(06:56):
and he thought they could also reinforce their offensive line. Well,
it ended up that they did all of that. As
you mentioned, they also replaced both coordinators. Of course, they
signed Saquon Barkley. Howie Roseman had a line that will
just be a dart in the hearts of Giants fans.
He said, every time Saquon touched the ball when he

(07:16):
was a Giant against the Eagles, he was afraid he
was going to take it to the house. They suspected
that if they put Saquon Barkley behind that offensive line
that they have in Philadelphia, that he'd be able to
do exactly what they did then.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Of course they had a great draft.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Both cornerbacks, the rookie cornerbacks are really effective starters now
and of course Zac Bond. It has been a really
tremendous offseason work that went into where they are right now.

Speaker 10 (07:42):
Go back to the end of the Doug Peterson era,
Howie Rosen was getting tattooed in Philadelphia, was getting absolutely crushed,
never mind that they had just won the first Super
Bowl in franchise history, just getting crushed. And at that time,
he knew the way that things were going to play
out here with regard to players that were coming the
end of their playing career, Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelcey. He

(08:05):
knew jay Von Hargrave, the defensive tackle, was gonna be
gone and signing elsewhere as a free agent, like they
had those guys coming up. What he did was he
acquired guys one to two years before he needed to
acquire them, and he drafted not for need, but for
talent and that need down the line, whether it was
Jordan Davis the defensive tackle, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
To be able to get those guys ahead of time.

Speaker 10 (08:28):
I mean we a lot of times will hear a
general manager referred to as a forward thinker. Yeah, that's
literally the job. They're supposed to be, a forward thinker.
There is no more forward thinker in the NFL than
Howie Roseman. This team right now to have gone through
the transition. I mean, listen, I'll go back to Jalen
Hurts as a guy that they drafted potentially needing down
the line. I still think that that was more along
the lines of we're gonna draft him with a two

(08:49):
and flip him for a one. But when Carson Wentz
flamed out in Philadelphia, it was time to find a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
They had Jalen Hurts right there ready to go.

Speaker 10 (08:56):
So Howie Roseman has done a phenomenal job to get
this team to the super Bowl in two the last
three years.

Speaker 7 (09:02):
Well and Mike, and because of the way the Egles
have drafted, because of the way they've added in free agency,
they really have set themselves up now to be good
for a long time. I mean, and that's one thing
that certainly stands out. You take a look at the roster.
You listen to the comments from Jeffery Laurie on our
show yesterday and from Howie rose been talking to reporters
because they've, as you mentioned, been forward thinking, because they

(09:23):
got Jalen Hurts under contract, drafted him. I think before
a lot of people would have even thought they would
have looked at any quarterback. They got the line locked up,
they got key defenders who are young, but got several
of those guys locked up. Still have some work to
do this year in free agency. Whether or not they'll
be able to bring back Zach Bond is certainly a
big issue. But because the infrastructure is so strong, because

(09:46):
they have done so many good things as far as
just making their roster unbelievably deep and making a strong
kind of upper middle class to the roster, we have
certainly not seen the last of this team.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
What's fascinating is the Eagles were talking about some of
those splashes big and small they made back in March
for the Chiefs. They also were active in March, but
a lot of what they've done to upgrade the roster
occurred months after. Yeah, look at this, Hollywood Brown gets
hurt in the preseason, didn't play virtually the entire season. Obviously,
he's been back in the playoff run. But Juju Smith
Schuster was signed after the Patriots cut him in training camp.

(10:19):
DeAndre Hopkins was a mid season trade acquisition. Kareem Hunt
is only there because all the other running backs got hurt. Savi,
you're worthy the first round draft pick. Obviously, he's managed
to stay healthy play maybe a bit up and down
at times, but that's also part of this judy. We
know that the Chiefs revolve around Mahomes and Kelsey and
Patrick Mahomes, and obviously they're fantastic coaching staff here, but

(10:40):
Brett Veach's job, the job of the GM is never done,
and they've made some pretty key acquisition a'lbeat some guys
that they've got good familiarity with too.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
You know, a lot of what they're doing reminds me
an awful lot of what the New England Patriots were
doing at the peak of their powers, right when they
were built around Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, and then
they would bring in in pieces as they needed them
and there was a lot of churn on the roster,
the same thing that we're seeing with the Kansas City
Chiefs right now. Clark Hunt was talking about it last

(11:09):
night and he said, yeah, we've turned over the roster
a lot. It's a credit to the coaching staff that
they have been able to get these players acclimated as
quickly and put them in positions to be successful as quickly.
I mean, I keep going back where you've talked about
this play over and over, but the pass on third
and long that basically ended the AFC Championship game goes

(11:29):
to the Samaji p rin right like the third whatever
fourth string running back for that team.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
That is how well coached they are.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
That's how prepared they are, and that allows them to
get these guys in often later in the offseason or
even in the middle of the season and put them
in position to be successful and Judy.

Speaker 10 (11:49):
The other thing that the Patriots did during their dynasty
that the Chiefs are doing here as well is realizing
from year to year they're.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Going to be a different team.

Speaker 10 (11:56):
And some of that is going to be personnel, some
of that's going to be the coaches realized what they
are and what kind of style they can play to
best suit the kind of team that they are. I
heard Mike Robin MJD last night on the coverage for
Opening Night back in the studio in LA talking about
how this used to be a vertical team.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
This used to be the.

Speaker 10 (12:13):
Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce down the field really slash
you that way now not so much now more horizontally
forcing you to defend that way. And look, Travis Kelce,
the skills have been declining, but he's.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Still effective in a different way.

Speaker 10 (12:26):
And Tyreek Hill now gone, and maybe that'll change again.
Maybe once Savior Worthy becomes a guy that they can
rely upon even more, they become a little bit more
vertical and don't have to lean necessarily as much on
being a defensive team as they are right now. So
Brett Beach, the front office and the coaching staff really
has done a nice job marrying things together year to year,
realizing that that first Super Bowl team gonna be a

(12:47):
lot different than the last one.

Speaker 7 (12:49):
Well, and one of the things Judy was talking about
about all the acquisitions they made during the season, right,
I mean, Samaji p ran I believe was signed three
or four days actually before the season. Everyone else was
Kareem Hunt, DeAndre Hopkins. It's not just that they were
signed during the season, they were signed for nothing. I mean,
DeAndre Hopkins is like basically on a minimum contract. Kareem

(13:11):
Hunt on a minimum contract, originally signed to the practice squad.
I mean they have such a good infrastructure and such
a good understanding for how guys fit into the team
and can perform only for them. Juju Smith Schuster, who
made key plays in the fourth quarter two weeks ago
in the AFC title Game, was cut by one of
the worst teams in the NFL. Nobody wanted him, nobody

(13:32):
wanted to sign him. He signs with the Chiefs again,
and he is making key plays in crunch time. That
is of all the reasons why the Chiefs are so
good to me. That stands out another similarity to the Patriots.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
Pay those guys, overpay them at times, get cut, bring
them back from the minimum, and what do you know,
perfect We've got Insiders every weeknight and Saturday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday seven pm Eastern Time.

Speaker 3 (15:04):

a lot squabble, a.

Speaker 10 (15:11):
Lot Time out for Active Mike, presented by the Wills
Fargo Active Cash credit Card. Patrick Mahomes has been active
in the Super Bowl, joining Tom Brady and John Elway
as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to start five
plus Super Bowls. Will there be five or more cliches
in this SoundBite from Patrick Mahomes, There might be.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
Check it out.

Speaker 12 (15:36):
Yeah, Super Bowl is always top of the top, you know,
and be able to have this, have this opportunity to
be in this game, it's always special, and so we're
gonna go out there and lay it all on the line.
I mean, we've worked so hard to be in this
game and proud of my teammates, and one went away
from uh going out in completing history. So I'm excited
for it.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
You are already considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of
all time.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
How did that type of talk with you?

Speaker 7 (15:58):
You?

Speaker 12 (15:59):
I just want to be remembered as one of the
greatest teams of all time at the end of the day.
And I know how blessed I am to be in
Kansas City and the people that we have I have
around me, coaches and players, and so I'm more focus
on leaving the imprint on the Kansas City Chiefs and
how we are remembered for the rest of the time.
I think the best thing we do is just we
compete to the very end. It doesn't matter how the
game looks from the beginning to the end. We're just
gonna find a way to get the win. And that's

(16:21):
why one possession or about two possessions, whatever it is,
We're just gonna find a way. Just as I've learned
in this league. It's all about winning. At the end
of the day, it doesn't matter how it happens, as
no matter if it's dissecting the coverage before the play,
getting us to a run play, or running with your
legs or throwing the football, it's just about winning the
football game. And at the end of the day, that's
what that's what the ultimate goal is. And so that's
what I've tried to do, especially at this part of

(16:42):
my career. Is even though that the stats might not
be as flashy as they were my first year, We've
won a lot of football games and I always be
proud of that.

Speaker 10 (16:52):
I kind of about six fliches, but that was a long,
long rip right there for Patrick Mahomes, And to be fair,
he's gonna have to add questions for like five total
hours before they kick this game off.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
He don't even taste the back with us. Can well
back with me?

Speaker 10 (17:04):
Mike Garraffalo I mentioned, you know the way that Mahomes
was answering these questions.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
They're always one of the harder parts of the Super Bowl.

Speaker 10 (17:12):
We can we are not an easy group to deal
with on a day to day basis the way he's
had to but you know that competitiveness in him is like,
can we just kick this game off?

Speaker 4 (17:20):
He's ready to go.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Yeah, Mike.

Speaker 9 (17:23):
One thing about this Chiefs kind of run has been
a label that they are the villains, and Patrick Mahomes said,
we don't embrace that villain's label.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
We embrace who we are.

Speaker 9 (17:32):
But he said it does bring us together as a
tighter locker room that people are actively rooting against us.
And you mentioned that competitive nature. You heard Patrick Mahomes reference, Hey,
I don't want to necessarily focus on being the greatest
of all time. I want to be the greatest team
of all time. He certainly thinks about the legacy that
he could have. And Kareem Hunt I talked to him today,
is running back, he said. Patrick Mahomes is the most

(17:53):
competitive person I have ever met. He said, in practices,
in the games, he said, heck even top golf. He said,
every time we he destroys me, he hits the ball
over the net. He said, exactly in the green dot.
I asked him, does Pat ever give you tips or
try to help you out? He said, he may give
me a tip or two, but he never takes it easy.
It's that type of mindset that makes him great. One
other thing that makes Pat great is he always is

(18:15):
pushing his coaches for more. Matt Naggy told me after
the AFC Championship Game, Pat has bugged him for years
showing him high school tape of his running ability to
put more running plays in the game for him. He says,
I got boosties. Look at my boosties from the highlight tape.
And finally we got to see him run a little
bit in the AFC Championship Game. Maybe that's more in
store for the Super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Kim, we were just talking about what an astute acquisition
it was to get DeAndre Hopkins for basically nothing, and
what an.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Addition he is for this team.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
I know you caught up with him. What's on his mind?

Speaker 9 (18:54):
Yeah, this is a special week for DeAndre Hopkins twelve
year pro Hall of Fame resume, but this is his
first Super Bowl and it's particularly special for his family.
His mom, Sabrino, will be in town to watch him.
And his mom has a story of survivor. She was
a domestic violent victim. She was blinded by an attack
when DeAndre was younger, and she's actually gonna have a

(19:14):
brunch where she's speaking about empowering and overcoming your circumstances,
and DeAndre has talked and linked about how powerful and
important she's been in his life. Deandre's has a routine
where he will give her the ball at a game
after he scores a touchdown. So maybe we'll see something
like that on Sunday. So an emotional moment for him.
It also is a moment for him where he gets
to live out something he's been waiting thirty years for.

(19:37):
He said he will wear a mink jacket from his
dad on Super Bowl Sunday. He said, nineteen ninety two,
his dad passed away. He left him a lot of belongings,
including a mink jacket. DeAndre said, I will either wear
it at my wedding or the Super Bowl, whenever it
comes first. He said, I'm not married yet, so Sunday
I will be wearing my daddy's mink jacket.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
I'm glad we're go to see that cam. Thank you.

Speaker 6 (20:01):
I'm sure we are going to see and hear a
lot more from you this week, probably tomorrow. Enjoy the
rest of your evening and coming up tomorrow. Thursday night,
February sixth, the stars are out in New Orleans take
Aikoff Super Bowl fifty nine weekend. Find out who will
take home the game's most prestigious awards with host Snoop Dogg.

(20:22):
Don't miss NFL Honors, presented by Invisil Line on Fox,
NFL Network and also streaming on NFL Plus. Subscription required

Patrick Peterson is going to join us. As a matter
of fact, he is walking. Look at the action shot
we got for you walking up to our set right now,

(20:45):
Patrick Peterson.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
When we return on The Insiders.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
Welcome back to The Insiders, presented by fan duel, Tom Pelaicero,
Ian Roundport, joined by the guy who apparently broke up
every past in NFL history based on the montage, Patan Bearson.

Speaker 13 (21:35):
How we doing, Buddy? You got how you guys doing?
Happy to see you guys again.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
We're on the network every day.

Speaker 5 (21:41):
There's never been any type of a reel like that
put together for either of us. We've got a lot
of good moments, We've broken good news. We try to
be funny, like you're an eight time pro bowler.

Speaker 13 (21:50):
I guess you get that, but I will give you
guys credit. Tom and I and you guys are the
best at your job.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
I appreciate that, all right, and we're good.

Speaker 9 (21:59):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
That's the joke.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
I have nothing more to no.

Speaker 7 (22:02):
I actually was thinking watching that montage, which is like
ridiculous because I know it's been a year since you
got out there.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
I know you have not retired.

Speaker 7 (22:09):
But when you were rolling, when you were in your prime,
and those kinds of plays were normal for you. When
you're watching, what are you thinking as you're kind of
looking back a little bit?

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Man like?

Speaker 13 (22:20):
Dang like that was me, like honestly, because like have
an opportunity to sit back and watch you know, like
you said, the montage that you guys are putting together
for me on shows, it's like, like I really put
together a solid career, you know, so hopefully I've done
everything in my power to put me where I want
to be at the end of my career.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
All Right.

Speaker 5 (22:40):
So you got this matchup on Sunday, Super Bowl fifty nine.
You know there's a lot of weapons right on both sides.
This in your mind, this could be a receiver, a
tight end, running back who scares you the most, all
the skill guys in this game.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
If your line up you're preparing as a defender going
into this game. Who worries you the most?

Speaker 13 (22:57):
It has to be say Smith, just because he have
the speed, He can run the routes, he can catch
those contested balls that Jalen Hurts throw to him down
the sideline, so I will have to go with him.
But the dark horse in this game, I believe is
going to be DeAndre Hopkins because he's been a guy
that only had what two receptions throughout this playoff run.

(23:20):
Nobody have really known about have pretty much heard about
him throughout this playoff run. I think he is going
to be the guy that's going to be the deciding
factor that's going to help the cant Slee the Chiefs
win this game. So I'm already giving you my predictions.

Speaker 7 (23:34):
So these teams got two weeks to repair. You mentioned
DeAndre Hopkins, obviously we know you know DeVante's going.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
To be a big part of it. AJ is going
to be a big part of it.

Speaker 7 (23:42):
As someone who's game plan for you know, some excellent,
excellent weapons and shut down plenty of excellent weapons in
your career, what do you think the best way like
for let's say a defense to address this.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
It's like all right, you know, is it all right?

Speaker 7 (23:57):
We got to make sure this guy particular doesn't hurt
us or how do you think as a defense? You
kind of addressed this.

Speaker 13 (24:03):
You know in the Super Bowl, you're not picking your
poison because now these are the two best teams. So
you know, each team have weapons all over the yard
and for the most part, it's gonna be good on good.
So you're gonna have to win your one on one matchups.
And that's what it's gonna come down to. Which team
is gonna win their one on one matchups because there's
no talent discrepancies here, you know what I mean. So

(24:26):
it's gonna come down to the one on one matchups
and who's better at it.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
So she gets some pretty good corners on these teams too,
Guys that talk a lot.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
You got Slay CJ. Gardner.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
Johnson's more of a safety, but play a lot of
different positions. You've watched all these guys.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Who do you like?

Speaker 13 (24:40):
Oh, man, I love McDuffie. Man, I just Trent McDuffie.
I love what he brings to the table. He's like
one of those wildcard pieces to where you see him
on blitzes. You see him shutting down the number one receiver,
you see him breaking up passes. Like He's one of
those guys that I really love to watch, and he's
been on my radar ever since he to enter the NFL,

(25:01):
and I had the opportunity to talk to him before
the game at media day yesterday. So he's one of
those guys that I really really love to watch. But
then you got Darius Slay, one of the you know,
old heads of the group, that's one of my all
time favorites men. Him came in around the same time.
I'm a little bit older than him, but I love
to watch him play as well. Then you got the young,
the young young guys in the in the Eagle secondary

(25:22):
who's making the name for themselves. H Cooper and what's
my other, Quentin Quent Yeah, Mitchell. You know those guys
who really helped turn the table for this Philadelphia secondary.
So it's a lot of it's a lot of secondary
guys I keep my eye on for sure.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
Man McDuffie too, like so versatile.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
I can see you like in this game just because
play inside, playoffs, to do all sorts of fun things.
So if you uh, yeah, yep. Do you do you
think they want to join us teams or something? Do
the pigeons want to join us on the inside? Can
we tell them that you we already have. You have
to see they cannot jump in your set them out

(26:03):
of it. We have one guest that is the maximum
leave us alone. Back to the non pigeons. Patrick Mahomes
is very good. Yeah, I don't know that there's a
quarterback that I can think of who's like him, just
based on the skill set that he has. If you
had to I know, you're covering the receiver, but if
you had to face him, if you had to pick

(26:24):
him off, Like, what's the best way to attack Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 13 (26:28):
Man, Now, that's one of those ones that you just
have to take what you get because Patrick is one
of those quarterbacks not gonna throw turn the ball over.
He's also a quarterback that's going to create extra time,
which is a defensive back worst nightmare. Like we know
we're in the mindset of covering guys for four seconds
when you have to go up against Lamar Jackson and

(26:48):
Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Like you just like you're just pulling your hair out.
You're pulling your hair.

Speaker 13 (26:53):
Out because you know that you're gonna have to cover
these receivers for an extensive amount of time. So no,
for the most part, you're playing backyard football and just
hope and pray that your defensive line can get them down.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
So you're join us on the other side. You haven't
officially retired, right, We're still You're still playing. You're still
you're still ready to go, all right?

Speaker 13 (27:13):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (27:14):
Are you ready to make an announcement?

Speaker 13 (27:15):
No, I'm not ready to make an announcement just yet.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
But I mean, you made a face there. I feel
I feel like you'd say it. I'm not trying to
coax you in.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
You don't want to do not yet, not yet?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
All right? All right. I was gonna say, you look
like you could still go.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
But you're now you're now on our side of things, right,
And I'm wondering, is there one question you have for
Ian Rapaport if you really want to get answered?

Speaker 13 (27:36):
Ah, that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
In tell me about this, this Cooper Cup trade?

Speaker 13 (27:44):
Is it something because we heard talks about it was
a possibility before the deadline last year? First of all,
why didn't why didn't it happen before the deadline and
now why are there willing to shop Cooper Cup right now?

Speaker 3 (27:56):
All right?

Speaker 7 (27:56):
So it didn't happen around the time of the deadline
because they started winning, right if they had stopped winning, if.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
They continued, you know, I think they're one and four.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
When the news first came out, when they first started
kind of talking to some teams, maybe a trade would
have happened. They started winning, and now, you know, unfortunately,
when you get to the other side of thirty and
you're doing a lot of money, teams start looking at
you a little differently.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
That's not the question I.

Speaker 7 (28:20):
Thought you were gonna ask, which I thought you were
going to ask, how in the world did you break
when I was signing with the Steelers two years ago.
I'm not gonna say how it happened, but I thought
you were gonna say, how did you know?

Speaker 3 (28:33):
In which case?

Speaker 1 (28:33):
I thought that was a good one. That was that
could have been a good But you know, that was
a layup. I kind of gave you up.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
I wasn't gonna say that, but I was not going
to give up my source. But yes, yes you did,
and I appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Yes, sir, So you're you're on the media side. You
are part of our eight and a half hour pregame
show on Sunday at a Super Bowl fifty nine. You're
gonna be in Los Angeles. Take a look, and this
guy there here, there is him in case you can't
find him, because we have seventy seven people and the
insiders for some reason a party heads because you know,

(29:08):
okay at the party on the on the use time
and the rods out there right by the Superdome. Pat,
thank you very much. It's always awesome seeing you man.
We'll look forward to to watching you on Sunday.

Speaker 13 (29:18):
I see you guys in a couple of days.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Awesome. Thank you man. All I have and when it
was a Black grand national being rational give them what
they asked for is not enough, sell it but it's
not enough.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
They've got say you bigger than myself, but it's not enough.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
They go through to stop before.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
How good is this guy?

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Turn his TV off?

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Turn his TV off, turn his TV.

Speaker 7 (29:53):
Off, turn it TV off.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
That's why we resolutely for a put okay he five
Eagles five to super Bowl fifty nine.

Speaker 10 (30:07):
That was Grammy Award winner Kendrick Lamar and Jalen Hurts
hoping to be a super Bowl winner. He is the
first quarterback to start and lose his first Super Bowl
appearance at age twenty five or younger and return as
a starter. Five other guys didn't haven't been back either
yet or period.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Name one of them. If you said, David Woodley, you're
our hero tonight Marino God Pardy Borrow. The other guys
here is Jalen Hurts proving the doubters wrong. Everyone has
their own opinion, and everyone has their on if for
the game, and.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Sometimes people get stuck on narratives of the past. But
ultimately just just about the work. It's about quantifying my
work and taking the day at a time. You know
that that's what this journey has.

Speaker 9 (30:57):
Been for me.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
Do you think it's about your play?

Speaker 12 (30:59):
Stop will describe you as a running quarterback.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
I don't know if that's how you describe yourself.

Speaker 13 (31:04):
I'm thinking in anything that I do, and I was
thinking about this anything that.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
In anything that I do, I'm going to do it
my way.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Some whether that's how I play the game, how I
address you know, me wearing a hoop earring or whatever
it is, how I lead, how I speak, I'm going
to do it the way that I.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
See best fit for the mission of the group.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
And you know ultimately what my priorities are and where
I place them, and so some things, some things are
what they are, So just take it to day at
the time.

Speaker 6 (31:33):
I lean on faith, my faith in that.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
And I lean on my work. Judy and Stacey back
with us.

Speaker 10 (31:40):
Stacy Dale hanging out there covering the Eagles this week,
and uh, certainly talking a lot to Jalen Hurts and
hearing a lot of what he has to say. Uh,
he has an experience at least of being in the
Super Bowl before, and he seems to have the confidence
leaning on that experience, right.

Speaker 8 (31:54):
Stacey, Absolutely, Mike, and the other thing that he has
coming into Super Bowl like he did in Super Bowl
fifty seven is a really good defense. They were good
and two years ago and they're really good now. They're
actually so good. They are the number one total defense
in the National Football League under Vic Fangio. They're the
number two scoring defense. They're number one against the past,

(32:15):
they're number three on third downs. And when I spoke
with defensive lineman Josh Sweat today, he said that was
the goal in terms of their identity.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
We wanted to be the best. We are the best,
but we've got a job to finish.

Speaker 8 (32:28):
They believe they can finish that job because they believe
in Vic Fangio and his plan, and he's done a
really remarkable job with a very young group. This is
a young unit. Obviously we understand. But when I spoke
with linebacker Zach Bond, he said he keeps us accountable
in such a way it's almost.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Like a college coach with respect.

Speaker 8 (32:48):
I say that because of his level of accountability he
holds his players to Given they're so young out of college,
so many second and third year guys, and certainly a
couple of rookie starters.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
They will be tasked, of.

Speaker 8 (33:00):
Course, with defending the quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, whom they
have immeasurable respect for. As you can imagine, I just
watched Darius Slay walk out of here. He's headed somewhere
this evening, as I've seen several players, and he told
me this week that Patrick Mahomes is smarter now than
ever before.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
So he's a smarter quarterback.

Speaker 8 (33:21):
He obviously doesn't turn the ball over, he doesn't force things.
He is brilliant in the checkdown game, and he is
really a master at reading coverages, really tough to defend.
But they want to get him off the spot on Sunday,
as Josh Swett told me, you guys, and they certainly
want to take those legs out of the mix because
it is a concern given the way he's been moving
around on the ground with his legs here in the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
All right, let's talk about them getting back to the
super Bowl just two years after that devastating loss and
the trust that Jalen Hurts must have in that team
to be able to do that. Stay.

Speaker 8 (33:57):
Yeah, this is such an important point, Judy, because I
think that in all the conversations that I've had with
these Eagles here through the playoffs, these players, personnel Howie
Roseman is trust And when I spoke with Jalen Hurts today,
I asked him, describe the level of trust that you
have in your offense, given how talented it is, given
the offensive line, and he just told me the utmost

(34:22):
confidence right he has in this group because of how
unified they've become in terms of winning different ways. They
can beat you on the ground, they can beat you
with fifty five as we saw in the NFC Championship game.
Which was, by the way, a conference record in a
championship game in terms of those points that they scored,
and he said, it's all hands on deck. I love

(34:44):
that it's a collective group in terms of how they
game plan, how they strategize, and by the way, his
preparation is so critical because it never changes and that
gives this offense steadiness. Nick Sirianni told me his head coach,
that the most impressive thing about Jalen Hurts's preparation is
his consistency. And then it's the calmness in critical situations.

(35:06):
All the things you guys want when you're headed to
a Super Bowl with your quarterback, Stacy.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
We will talk to you more tomorrow and for the
rest of the week, and when we come back on
The Insiders, we're going to hear more from Nick Sirianni,
and we're going to hear from his counterpart, Andy Reid,
the two Super Bowl head coaches coming up next on
The Insiders.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
It's football's biggest week of the year, Super Bowl Week,
here we go, and NFL Network has big plans for
the big easy.

Speaker 14 (35:40):
I cannot wait for this game.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
Over sixty hours of live coverage.

Speaker 9 (35:44):
Every fourth thing is writing on this including in depth
analysis and marquee interviews.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
I love him being on my team live reports from
the Eagles and.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
Chiefs, which is one of the biggest challenges that we've
ever had.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
He is in and a supersized edition of NFL Game
Day Morning. What he does is so rare all leading
up to the big game, naging for the NZO touchdown
and what's the confetti falls? Joined the crew of NFL
Game Day Final as they interdee the stars of Super
Bowl fifty nine. NFL Network your home for Super Bowl Week.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Three.

Speaker 5 (36:21):
Pete or one defeat and the Chiefs now just one
went away from becoming the first team ever to win
the Super Bowl three years in a row. Some of
these guys have been there before, and as Andy Reid
said today, some others, well they might need a little
help this week.

Speaker 15 (36:37):
Yeah, the magnitude of this game none of these young
guys have experienced. And really some of the veteran guys
too that haven't had this opportunity to come to the
Super Bowl. So that's where I respect our guys so
much in them being willing to share with others. And
it's not only the experience of coming to this, but

(37:00):
it's you know, when we had injuries, guys, welcome guys
in and even though it might be your position, welcome
them in and try to get them up to date
and help us to win football games.

Speaker 5 (37:15):
Two years ago, the Chiefs began this run with a
win over the Eagles in Super Bowl fifty seven. Philadelphia
actually had seventy seven more total yards around nineteen more plays.
It still ended in defeat, which Nick Sirianni said could
actually help him this time around.

Speaker 16 (37:33):
You know, I think adversity does something to you, right,
and if you embrace adversity, it can shape you to
who you are. And obviously that's been you know, the
case through Jalen in his career. But it is about
embracing adversity. This this game's not easy, and this game

(37:54):
has its ups and downs. And you know that's how
a football game. You know, seasons have ups and downs,
from year to year has ups and downs. Well, that's
how a football game goes right. And and nobody in
the NFL. I've said this a bunch, Nobody in the
NFL pitches a perfect game. That doesn't exist in the NFL.
You're gonna have bad plays, You're gonna have good plays,

(38:14):
and it's about being able to focus to your mindset
on the next on the next one. And so, like
I said, again, this team's embraced adversity. I don't think
you never know, but you know, the things, even going
back to the twenty twenty three season, which we haven't
talked a lot about since the beginning of the year,

(38:35):
we're grateful for that. We're thankful for that. As bad
as it sucked at the time. I know I'm grateful
for that. Speak for myself, I'm grateful for that because
it's shaped us into who we are now and why
a big reason why we're back here sitting at this
at this moment again. And so embracing adversity is huge,
and you know, for your for your development as a person,

(38:57):
as a player, as a coach.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
The Eagles are the first team in the Super Bowl
aired add two non special teamers in free agency that
both were named First team All Pro that season.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
One of them, of course, is Sakuon Barkley.

Speaker 5 (39:12):
The other one, Yeah, you're seeing making plays right there,
Zach Bond who loves being a part of this locker room.

Speaker 14 (39:19):
Yeah, coach and Nick From the day I got here,
was like, our biggest thing is connect connecting in the
locker room. There's couches in the locker room, there's pink,
guys playing ping pong all the time, Guys throwing darts
and playing arcade games and doing all these different things
to connect. This team is very well connected, and I
think it shows up on our play on the field.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
The Fan Dual Kick of Destiny is back in this
Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (39:42):
Eli and Peyton Manning will face off in a sudden
death field goals showdown. Pick which brother you think will
win on the fan Duel app for a free chance
to earn a share of ten million dollars in bonus bets.
Plus new customers can bet five dollars to get two
hundred bonus bets. If you if you met on the
Eagles seven years ago, you made out quite well on

(40:04):
that one of the wildest Super Bowls we have ever
seen in Minneapolis US Banks Stadium. The Eagles came out
victorious for their first Super Full win seven years ago today.
It was also one of the highest scoring Super Bowls
that we have had. The Eagles actually on that list
a couple of times because two years ago these two teams,

(40:26):
the same ones that will meet on Sunday put up
a combined seventy three points in that game, the only
higher scoring Super Bowl that did not involve the Eagles
Chargers forty nine ers way back in Super Bowl twenty nine.
You don't put a put up big numbers yesterday, that
smoke machine before one of.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Our producers decided.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
To dismantle it.

Speaker 5 (40:47):
I won't name names Andrew Gruver, but I don't know
that he was actually supposed to be touching it.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
I thought it was a good look. Judy, what do
you think we have handled that fable show?

Speaker 6 (40:58):
It looks like we're at a dist go here. I
kind of like the moodiness though it looks it's atmospheric.

Speaker 5 (41:05):
We had strobe lights, we had allowed a lot of
a lot of news. Mike certainly will be. We had
pigeons back here disrupting the set. You're gonna be You're
gonna be experience it a lot, Mike, is what we're
about to tell you. And you might be experiencing the
first three peat in NFL history because pat Riley, the
NBA legend who owns the trademarks on three peat, has

(41:27):
allowed Mike the Chiefs, if they win, to sell three
Peat merchandise for all those Kansas City fans.

Speaker 10 (41:34):
That's very nice of him. When I think of pat
Riley and the Super Bowl and one thing comes to mind.
It was one of those parties back in I think Tampa,
back in two thousand and nine. I think maybe the
Maxim Party. Pat Riley usually VIPs up there. Pat Riley
goes nope, taking my vip right in the middle of
the floor. My man had velvet ropes around him, sitting
in a chair drinking jad Pan.

Speaker 5 (41:55):
Not only is he allowing the Chiefs to use three Peat,
he's also willing to trade them Jimmy Butler, so that
could be interesting on Sunday. The Pigeons might not be
back tomorrow. We bill will seven pm Easter Time.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
See it.
