Speaker 1 (00:03):
All right, here we are off the edge of the podcast.
I'm from bringing my dog. You know a man who
went to the University of Washington. Man who's been I've
been with my hometown team, you know, the Arizona Cardinals.
Two time All Pro. This man's been a Pro Bowler
dead every year. The man don't even know how not
to be a Pro Bowl caliber player. We talk about
(00:24):
Boodle Baker.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
I appreciate you tapping in with the pod, you know,
off the edge with me, CAMJ.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yes, sir, was good. What's going on?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Man? Just just living?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
How you feeling you good? You're good?
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Feeling feeling good? Feeling good.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah. Look, whenever I look at whenever I look at
your intro, Bro, like, I love to see the status
pile up, Like you lead all defensive backs in total
tackles seven hundred and thirty seven of them things since
he came to the league seven years ago. Budget's averaging
you know, just whatever it is average hunting some tackles
a year. When ever, look at these stats, Bro, it's
(01:01):
not only oppressive to the con tenure you've had, the
type of career that you're producing, but you know, like,
how do you feel about knowing that you him when
it comes to tackling like surfire tacklers.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You know that's something I could do.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
I just try to do my job and when the
ball gets to me, I'm trying to get it down.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
So you know it is.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
All right for sore. I mean, let's just go straight
to the game this. You know when you think about
what where were you do? You know during that pick six?
Like what was what was happening in the chaos when
when it got overturned? Like what where where was that happening?
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
You know me, I was out there robbing on the
QB and uh, you know all I seen was the
ball up in the air and that guys got it
and you know, uh got pretty loud.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
But then the whistles started blowing.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
So hey, right, that momentum, bro, Like that momentum change
is palpable. It's real, like you like the rest of
me in the way I can't say that, but I
can't like the god.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah, you know, they they're pretty strictless about that that
two minutes.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
So once it hit two minutes, they blew it dead
man man.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
That was we had. We had a similar situation in
our game, bro, Like, there was an interception that happened
from you know, our team to their defense to see
it and I'm like, bro, that ball hit the ground
for real, for real, But they'd already said it was
an interception, and they're not going to go against that call. Bro,
Like give us another shot. Look at that. It is
what it is.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
But anyways, Like, but you can feel that kind of
you know, the kind of momentum shift because that for you,
that was heading into the second half, Like.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
That's yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah exactly. At the end of
the day, you know, everything happens for a reason. So
you know, we onto the next week, onto the you know,
Washington Commanders.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Right, I gotta gotta gotta flip that page. What do
you see from What do you see from them? I
mean Jaydon Daniels out there going now three three touchdowns,
two incompletions, young bull out there going stupid on the
ground in the air.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
You know, just seeing him, you know, play so well,
this's early go to a test of the team they
have and you know the player he is, and you know
you got Cliff Kingsbury out there, you know, showing a
new offense. So it's definitely uh, you know, definitely special
for him.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Right, I mean, young bull. But I'm trying to tell
people it's not necessarily hard for a young rookie or
young quarterback to take the league by storm for a year.
I'm like, yo, But once you get that, you know,
once you get beyond that first year, that second year
is when I get interested intrigued, like, you can take this,
you can take a league by storm, But that second year,
(03:58):
can you continue that? Now we have a game plan
for you. It's one thing when I don't have enough
film on you. It's another thing when like, this is
what he's good at, this is what he can do.
Now there's a game plan formulated.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Like you said, in the first year, not not really
A lot of guys have kind of seen it, but
you know, of course we're all students of the game
and we watch that film. So the more film that
you can have, of course, you know, the harder it
will be for them. So you know, he's a he's
a special player though, so you know, hopefully they do
(04:27):
what they do. But of course, you know we're playing
against them this week, so got to get that deal
and you got to get the crib too out and
easy your hometown.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
You know, been out here for you know, doing on
my year eight. So you're eight the great and uh,
you know we we got to get one of those.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
For sure, got to get one of those. Bro After
that dub, then like where do you think the Cardinals
stack up in your division? You know, the NFC West.
Then we'll talk about it, but like how do you
think how you think you know, y'all y'all stacking up? Now?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah, I'll see West is a hard division. You know,
you got the forty nine or Seahawks. Rams, of course,
you know, we all kind of just beat up on
each other and of course the forty nine have a
great team for a while, and you know, we'll we'll
all see what happens.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Right, Okay, So okay, still earlier this season. I'm not
gonna get nothing out of yet, Okay, I get it. Yeah,
I mean, you know, talking about that division, like literally
this past weekend Rams Niners, You assume Niners were the
favorite in the Rams come back with that miraculous come
back boats well for you at the Cardinals. You know,
(05:37):
like, like you said, the NFC West, y'all really do be
beating up on each other. They don't matter who the
favorite is, it's really a slub pest.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
No, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
You know all you got great players on you know,
each and every side of the ball. So anytime every
team in the division plays each other, you know, you
kind of know each other and you kind of know
you know the you know what type of guys are
trying to get this, and you know all the intricate
details about these team, and it's east each and every
(06:09):
time we play, it's always going to be a hard
puck match.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Well, look, I know for me, we got we got
the uh when Atlanta comes up on our schedule, we
got hate week coming up, Like there's there's gonna be
five days of screw them. The coach, the city, the
gym that that used to work for us. It's it's
everybody got to get it, bro Like everybody in the field.
(06:34):
The city feels that Cardinals in the like the NFC,
like the NFC West. Like I don't is there's there's
not like one team that you be like, man, we
hate them with all our guts. Right Like growing up
in Arizona, I never I never felt like, oh man,
we really hate the Rams or we really hate Seattle.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
We were just like, man, we just want to win now, yeah,
I mean, of course we we want to win, but
we don't. We don't like them all. So you know
they're all right, playing twice twice a year. You don't
like any of it. So, you know, me being from Seattle,
of course, when I go back out there, I got
to show out.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
You know, that's my home and that's where I grew
up in So.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
You know, there's there's those little you know, little little
things that get you in the heated of the moment.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
But yeah, we don't like none of those teams.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Yeah, it's easy when you just hate them.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
All exactly exactly, see.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Dispersed hate, like there's no one singular focus, Like I
know when when Atlanta comes either my place, we go
into Atlanta, I know it's hostile territory. Then there's like
you know, Carolina and Tampa Bay and depending on the years,
there'll be it'll be a battle for sure, but there's
never one like, man, I really hate that team or
that dirty ass you know, like one player maybe, but
(07:50):
it's not the team you missing. You're missing that real
that real heat heart vein of like I hate this
one individual. Sometimes I hate to pull pull you through
a season sometimes.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Sometimes you know, each and every year I kind of
have that that have that feeling for you know, different
NFC West team.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
So you know, Bro as as a leader on on
on the defense. Like I just want to know what
is it that you and Kyler have have for expectations
of your team? What is Kyler Murray? Of course, but
what is it with that head coach coming into a
second year? Like how comfortable are you? Where's the team, Matt,
and how do you see yourselves moving forward?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Yeah, of course there's there's high expectations, you know. Uh,
we like to always talk about keeping it one day
at a time, one week at a time. So you know,
right now we're on the Washington Commanders and we're gonna
we're gonna work hard to get that w and uh
then we're on to the next week. So of course
there's high standards, you know, and there's you know, of
(08:53):
course we're working each and every day, each and every
you know hour, really just trying to get better and uh, right,
you know, the game and stay consistent in this lead.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Of course, that's the name of the game. So you know,
we know.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Absolutely got gotta stay consistent, I mean and at the
same time, you got to go chase your division too,
like you know, to get to the playoffs, you really
got to fight for that one to two seedy and division.
And you got Seattle who's undefeated, and you got you know,
the Niners and the Rams who are defeatable, and of
course you know you with this win, you can put
yourself in the fray and you want to be in
contention at all times. So this just comes that much
(09:31):
more important. So you know, I feel like as a player,
you know the ebbs and flows of gaming as well
as the season. Now you have to stay consistent, you
have to stay confident in everything that you do, which
it's early enough in season that you can turn everything around.
What does your off day look like? Bro? Because for
for us, on on an off day, our off days Tuesday,
we go in as a D line and we break
down film and then you know we lift together or
(09:53):
whatever it is as a D line. Do do you
dbs do that? Do you as a defense breakdown film
or how does that work for you guys on your team?
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah, as dbs, we do it. We do it together.
Of course we have you know, meetings with the coaches
and staff. But you know, dvs will have some meetings
and then of course on that Friday Saturday, that day
that walked through where you know, we're not really doing anything,
we'll go in and watch some film and have some communication,
(10:23):
last minute communication on the details of you know, the
game planning weekend and week out, just to make sure
we you know, of.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Course, are all on them.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
But you know, this game is also about trusting each
other to do, you know, our job, so that that's
most important.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Facts, bro, could you imagine seven years ago if they
were like, hey, here's an iPad and like you can
watch all the film you want, like on your own.
You used to have to come to the facility. So
like it was way easier to be like, yeah, we
watched film together because you had to. Now you know,
now everybody watches sort of film on their own. So
it's like yo, bo, like you got to come into
this building on Tuesday as a d line to come
(10:59):
wash this together. It's sometimes it's not even about the film.
It's about just like, all right, this is the game,
like whatever it is, it's but it's also about knowing
your teammate types.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Okay, yeah, yeah, I like that for sure, for sure, but.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Yeah, you know, we have our we have our little
film stuff that we watch each and every day that's
you know, scripted for us.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
So we have our Monday to watch.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Then we got our Tuesday film of course, going into Wednesday,
first second down periods, you know, that's when we're watching
first second down on film and then kind of so
forth throughout the week. So yeah, we take it like
little step by step kind of how how you know,
by the end of.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
The week, we got all this stuff down and.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
First second down, third down, red zone, two minute, four minute,
you know the deal.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
So yeah, fact everything everything dialed up right when it's
supposed to be. And Saturday it's like one real quick
brief and then all right, let's let's go with some
masks on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
And then and then forget all the defense game.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
So tell me, uh, you know, I heard you said
this is your favorite defense to play under the new
uh you know, under the DC Nick rallis, why why
is that?
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Yeah? Well, first, you know the players.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Of course, you know, they got a lot of great
players in the draft, and also you know, picked up
a lot of great players in free agency. So just
being an off season program and seeing the little details
that have changed is.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Definitely to my liking.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
And you know, for me being a safety, a person
that kind of can play multiple positions, I love this
defense because it kind of puts me in those different
positions to where qbs or teams can't really just you know,
red down me the whole time.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
They kind of don't really know where I'm going.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
The type of tilts that we make pre snap and
then post snap, you know, complete it can be completely different.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
So that's something I really like. And you know, of.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Course the high motor and the violence of the defense
and the players that we play, you know, you really
it really shows that, you know, I really want to
show that as a group on film beaching every week
that you know, when you when you play against Arizona Cardinals,
that defense is swarming to the ball. So that's what
we're trying to, you know, continue to get better on
(13:20):
each weekend and week out.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Yeah, and looks as a leader of your defense, as
a playmaker that you are. I know, I know your
coach probably comes to you when he when he's like, oh,
how do you how do you like this this blitz?
How do you like this package coming into this week?
You know, like, what is it, what does it mean?
I know he comes to you right like he has to.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, most definitely, you know, it means the world,
you know, just to to understand you know, I'm of
course a big part of the team, but also at
the end of the day, it's all about winning.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
You know.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
We like to talk about leaving your ego out the
door and you know, let the coaching you know, come
to you and ask questions and no question is question.
So just to you know, be one hundred percent in
our work and our craft to be able to go
out on Sunday, you know, play to the best of
our abilities.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
That's what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Gotta do once of course, of course. Yeah, but when
you got that game plan that you trust and you're
like all right, cool, like I like I can believe
in it, man, makes it that much more free when
you go out Sunday, like all right, I know what
the game plan is. I'm fully locked in. Because there's
been game plans where you've also been like the opposite though,
you'd be like, hey, bro, I don't know if this
(14:33):
is gonna shape, and the DC is so confident like
this is it's gonna work. You get in the game
like it's working, but I'm still like I'm doing all
my checks and I'm like it's a little much right now.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, And you've also gone a game, bro, You've also
gone to games and been like, all right, this game plan, Bro',
I don't know about this. Like I've seen a lot
of things work. I don't think this is gonna work
in the game. But like I told you, this wasn't
gonna work.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
You know, I keep that.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
I keep that to myself, but you know, after the
game maybe in my head of course, you know, to
the fans, man, man.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
That makes it that much more easy when everybody's body
and everybody on the same page, bro, Like, that's that
makes it fun for the defense. That allows you to
get like a levet man to the ball type football
and like from there then it just becomes a party
because each hit everybody's jumping in on. Then then it
really becomes a bird.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Gang tackle exactly.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
You know, you know, everybody coming in onto the tackles.
We call those cap offs, you know, So the more
cap off you can get, you know that that's always
that's always a positive.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Everybody in that thing. Yeah, Okay, I like that one
cap off because pay more helmless to the ball. Somebody
cap gonna get peeled back one time off. All right,
too shay, too shape. I might have to keep that one. Look,
(16:04):
I know, I know, like it's it's probably gonna be
too early to talk about it, but like sort of
talk about it. You've been with the Cardinals going this year?
Eight what what you what you're playing for? Like how
long you're gonna be with the car and sixteen? Are
you all them? With the Cardinals?
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Hey man, you know, I'll be a free agent after
this season, and you know.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Of course, you know I love the Cardinals. You know,
want to be a Cardinal.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
I understand the business at the end of the day,
and you know, for me, I just want to continue
to you know, taking one week at a time, one
day at a time, and just play good football, stay consistent,
win games, and then at the end of the season,
let everything else control itself. So that's my big That's
been my whole mental throughout the whole you know time
(16:52):
that it's been going on, and it's.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Been going real good for me. I feel like I'm you.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Know, continuing to get better as a player, and uh,
you know, we're gonna continue to get better as a team,
and you know we're excited for this week.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
No doubt or hey that that safety position is different, bro, Like,
I'm not gonna I'm not even gonna talk about how
hard it is to be a surefire tackler, to be
a force to be reckoned with, because a defense, like
all you have as a defense or just a defender
is fear, Like you have to be able to make
these tackles. You have to make an offense fear. You
have to make the player you're about to go against
(17:29):
have some sort of doubt in his mind, Like, hey, bro,
he really gonna sting me if I if I could
try and tackle it, try and run him over, or
he really gonna like if I still put this stiff
arm out. He knows I'm trying to stiff arm, so
here gonna knock my hand down and tackle me. Bro Like,
from there, the safety position is crazy. I just think like,
especially with the current market for a safety, it's it's
(17:49):
not it's not giving the market value, bro, Like there's
there was, there was a pinnacle, and it seems like
it's on the decline, especially with you know, safety is
whatever it is, but is that is that. Do you
think it's because quarterbacks aren't throwing as many deep balls
as they used to, or do you think.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
It's because you know, these young safeties days they've been
getting paid, they've been you know, they've been resetting the market.
So you know, of course there's not much as a corner,
which you know, I think that it should be. But
at the end of the day, you know, that's ow.
It's how the businesses work. You know, you've seen how
the running back market, what happened in that market. You know,
(18:26):
I think it's just you know, it's I.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Don't want to make a comment on it, but you
know who's afraid to see next year?
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Yeah, I feel like I'm a versatil player. I could
play whatever whatever. I'm a DV you know, I'm not
just a safety. You know, I line up everywhere on
the field. If you watch the film, you know I'm
I'm doing a lot of things. So you know, I
don't really look at myself as just a safety. I
look at myself as a defensive back in this league.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
You know, So.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Whenever that are opportunity comes to continue to put it
on the film, you know, that's that's my plan, and
that's what I'm gonna do.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
So yeah, right, that market tells you, like the league
isn't valuing the safety position as like a premier position.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Why yeah, I mean, hey, I don't know, I don't know.
You know, that's that's a very good question. You know,
you got no answer for field shout out those guys.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
You know, just set the safety market for sure.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
The market a little bit and uh, you know, so
hopefully that continues to you know, of course go up.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
But at the end of the day, all I can.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Do is control what I can control, and that's you know,
putting it out there each each and every day, each
and every week, and uh, you know, showing all my
skills and most importantly trying to win the game, right.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
And surefire tackler should be bootle surefire you know you
know what happens way, he's gonna get to.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Hit some stuff.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah, but when that balls in there, you know, I'm
trying to see that too. So hopefully I can get
some more opportunities at that.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
And not get walked down ever again. If I ever see.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
You're talking about four years ago? Was four years Yeah,
you fast enough, I was.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Twelve, you know, how to twelve play drives, you know
how them long.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
But it was at the end of the drive. You know,
all we get to see is the little little clips.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Yeah, I was getting see the little the little ticket.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Nah man, that the way it was too plays before
he was tapping out how to get.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Him some water. You know.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
He came back and with freshed I'm out here tired.
They're going and hurry up on the five yard line.
I'm a post player, you know. I see I throw
it to the flat.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
I jumped that.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Thing absolutely, started to try to crimp.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
Call to crip it.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
You know, gotten my little nice drive, my little you know,
little cruise. Next thing, you know, I just see some
some a big old object.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
In the jumbo. I'm like, oh man, I might gotta
speed up.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Too late, too late, too late. You got to hit
that one gear. Come on, man, you talk about that motive.
That motorve gotta be the whole way through. Oh well
that was then this is now try I know.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
The head down, hey, yeah, you know, and that monkey
get on your back a little bit. You know, you
still relaxing, you know, That's all she wrote after.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
That touche cluche.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
But hey, we won that game that we won the game.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
I was I was just about to say, but y'all
want that thing. So like you know what turnovers equal
opportunities for the offense. Office put points on the board
and you never looked back.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Try to try to get in the points on the board.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Try try, no doubt that's neither here nor there. Bro
As a safety. Who's who are safeties that you like
to watch? Now? If it's not yourself?
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Yeah, you know, I like watching the win I like
watching Toine winfield of courses and tying in there that
I'm watching Tyron Matthew, Honey Badger. Uh.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Of course that's your squad, So you know, I like
to watch.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
You out there, you know, you know, getting getting to
the keb, you know, causing some havoc out there.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
You know now that the Falcons have also got Justin Simmons,
you know that that look that safety group.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I kind of, you know, try to watch a little
bit just to see what.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Type of things they doing out there in Atlanta. You know,
I got my old d V coach in college. He's
a d C over there now, So that's that's cool
to see if you know what type of defense he's
bringing out there in Atlanta. So yeah, I like watching
those dbs. You know, I like watching defenses.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Well for sure, bro, Who's who's in your who's your
mount rushmore of safeties all time, knowing you after after
you know, knowing you. I know we've gonna go for
some hard hitters. But the top four, you know what
I'm saying, mount.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
You know you got every you got. You know you
got Bob Sanders, Yeah you got. Of course you got
Troy Polamalu. Hmm my force safety for safety. You know
(23:28):
that three is I like that three act. Let's keep
it at three.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Okay, top three. Look, I just figured I figured he
was going to slide in that Sean Taylor, you know
what I'm saying, Like.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
It was like John Taylor recipe Sean Taylor. You know,
I want YouTube videos on them all the time.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
And you know that was a shareheaded number thirty six
back and then that was my first number. I was
a thirty six pick in the draft, so I really
use it for that. But you know, Sean Taylor was
a huge hitter out there. I seen that Pro Bowl
hit on the what was that?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Everybody?
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Iconic?
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yeah, of course that iconic, And yeah, I mean you
could say that Sean Taylor.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
I like that Sean Taylor.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Right, you know, just around out that that Mount Rushmore.
But you man, you brought up Bob Sanders. Bob Sanders
back when he was the Indianapolis coach, like they was writers.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Yeah, it was coming in there full speed.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
He was like five eight two hundreds, two hundred and
five pounds and just coming in there.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
Just you know, big. Yeah. I like, yeah, I can
remember that era because there was the Dwight Freeney era,
then it became the Robert Mathis era. Like was some
solid defense.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Yeah, yeah, they had the.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
They had the safety, they had the old the O
d RM film.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Like what was Brian Dawkins about.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
I'm talking about at the at the at the Colts, Bro,
he had like these massive arms and then later but
like you, Bro, I was like, yo, the safety should
be built like this. As a kid. Either way, that's
you know, that's just about a whole different ways. But yeah, Bob,
Bob Senters to be the truth.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Moron Landry was his name, you man, Bro, I think
he was l then.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Bob he got a Defensive Player of the Year, right.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Oh man, I don't look I don't recall, you know,
as a defensive lineman. I'm not gonna say I'm yeah
yeah yeah he he definitely did two thousand and seven DP.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
You know that's to get that because you know the
past Russians always getting.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
That, the past.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Premier physician.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
You know, yeah, you don't.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Man, It's it's fun, like it's fun with knowing that
you got like a ball hawk or it was one
of the cold of safeties that are going to sure
fire knock somebody down over the middle when you rush
in the pass, because it makes that quarterback really like,
do I want to throw this middle ball?
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Do I?
Speaker 1 (26:06):
I don't know if I want to do that?
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yeah, a big time, big time.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
It is always good when there's a nice pass rush.
You know that ball got to come out fast so
that one break are always the best when you've got
to only break once as a deep.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Yeah right, no hum and you get it. You have
jumped around like you used to tell you that you
talked about earlier, But bro, what would you say is
your uh your best part of your game? You know
what I'm saying. You talked about your motor, you know,
you coming down laying the hat you know, like what's
what what's the best part of your.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
For me?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
You know, I kind of just think of myself as
like a smart player and all around versatile player, like
you know that I really believe that I can play,
you know, a lot of positions.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
I can blitz when you need me to blitz.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
I can cover deep, cover receiver when you need me
to cover receiver, cover tight end.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
You know.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
I can play in all types of zones, whether that's
you know, hook zones, you know hook seen and covered two,
middle runner, just all the different type of positions of
course on defense and you know concepts.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
I feel like I can do a lot of them.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
So just plugging me in anywhere, not letting the QB
understand where exactly I am at all times. I definitely
think I do really good at that.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Mm hmm. Give me the ox, mister, plug and play, okay,
yeah yeah, hell.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Can't even give you can't even give you a new
nickname because you already got Buddha. Where did that even
come from? I remember, I remember it was me and
you and Channer Jones some years back, and Channa called
you by your first name. It was the first time
I'd ever heard that, Jont and I looked at you.
I was like, I was like, they say, you know
somebody until you don't know somebody. I'm not because I'm
(27:56):
not gonna throw out that real name out there.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
I'm just gonna say the real name. Love that.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
But you know, uh, you know when I was a
little kid, I was big, little Buddha belly my eyes
of course, you know, people always count fried, but this
is just how my eyes are.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I can't control it, you know.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
So uh you know they called me boot and that's
always stuck, you know. So that's that's been my name
for a while.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
You went from a little Buddha to Bododa coming, Hey,
drop your leg. He going for one cap off? All
down the charge? Yeah, okay, facts Wait, I forgot to ask, bro,
because it's imperative. You know, you're eight, What do you
do to get your body right for the season? Man,
(28:42):
Now you're a week three, the bruises starting to pile up.
You're a big prehe guy.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
I'm big into you know, chiropractic work, you know acu
punching needles.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Which one do you prefer? Which one do you prefer?
Acupuncture or dry.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
Needles a ship accu for then dry needles.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
They be in that thing, yeah, be jumping and you know,
just leave them in there.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
Just leave them in there, put maybe some electras on
it and just keep it, keep it there.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
That's what I like. You know, massages of course, the
good massages whole.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Body, y'ull for sure.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
You know my yoga on Tuesday. So today I had
a nice little yoga. Play men.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
So beyond beyond the prehabing, the rehab bro h, what
what's what kind of music do you listen to before
a game?
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Before a game? You know, right before a game.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
I'm into that hardcore wrap you know, you know, whether
that's old school, little way future, put some future in
there and Ja Cole when I'm trying to get that
that real mentality, that real game knowledge in there.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Uh, you know you got to crash out NBA young boys.
You know I'll be watching in that.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
A little bit, right, a little angry man, yep, yeah.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Angry man, just to get my mind. You know, I'm angry.
I'm going into war. I'm going into you know, we
ain't helping the other team up. We ain't doing nothing
of that. No, we we we about that action that's
what I'm facts.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Facts. I appreciate you tapping in with me off the
edge of the podcast. Boo to Baker, you a dog,
Continue being a dog and make them give you that
money money. Hey. You know, hey, I'm always gonna be
rooting for my friends. Bro, I'm always gonna be rooting
for you unless we have to see on the field.
And then you know, I talked to you before and
then after the game and doing the game.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
I want to talk to you before. I'll talk to
you after.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
That's all. I'm gonna give you one of these and
I better get it back before the game. I'm I'm
saying that was that was my talk my dog.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
But love, Hey, yoh man, Love, have a good one.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
It's time for my segment, the final Push. Look, I'm
just thinking the Saints lose to the Philadelphia Eagles. I
guess you can't win everyone, but it feels like every
time we're gonna take the field, we're gonna try and win.
I think that, you know, two and oh, we've been
two and oh before, and I wanted that three and oh.
(31:21):
I wanted that three and oh start. I think coach
throughout that coach Dennis Allen throughout that stat that we
hadn't been three and oh since twenty thirteen. It's been
a while, but that two and oh. Now we're two
and one, and you feel like going into that fourth quarter,
it's I don't even know what the score is. We're
up three zero, maybe whatever that whatever the score is,
(31:45):
or there's a chance, you know, there's a chance that
they don't score again, you win, or maybe maybe all
they had scored was three points by then, And I
was like, Yo, we're gonna win this game. It is
what it is. We end up losing, and it changes
that vibe that you're like, man, you know, it changes
that that vibe of knowing that you're gonna win because
(32:08):
now you know you have to prove that you can
win each and every game. So next week's gonna be
that much more imperative that we get back in the
win column. You know, you look forward to that club, Dove,
that's a club, little Saint. You go into locker room.
Music is playing, boys, boys excited you go. You go
into every week trying to earn the right to enjoy
(32:28):
your teammates smiles, to enjoy you know, another win for
not only team, the city, you and you. You love
being a part of the NFL team. You love being
a part of the Saints because we're so integrated in
the city, so each win feels that much better. So
we got to get back to that win column. You know,
after the game, spoils go to the victor. You know,
(32:49):
CJ comes out and says, you know, there the Saints
are pretenders, which he played for US with Sean Payton
was here. He didn't get to see the uh, the
Dennis Allen takeover and he you know, but Chauancey is
also a really good safety. So they won and he's
able to say the type of things he said. It's
(33:10):
just a part of the game. You know, how did
he lost? He couldn't have said it. Uh, and and
all that he said was, you know, he said some
crazy statements about remember they got Derek Carr, their pretenders,
they're not contenders, et cetera, et cetera. Like in all
due respect, like relax, you know, we have to prove
(33:32):
that we're not pretenders. We have to prove that we're contenders.
And that goes for each and every team in the NFL.
Every week there's a chance you can win, lose, and
hopefully not draw.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
There has to be a winner, and you're gonna continue
fighting for that.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Chauncey is the troll of the league, of the league
for the reason like Chauncey gonna come out under meet
that bridge now and serve whatever hot take he got
on his mind. And he's going to try and rile
you up. That's what who Chauncey is uh as a
as a player.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
And that's make him lovable as a teammate and you
hate him as an enemy, but he wasn't enemy on Sunday,
So you know that's rightfully. So I think about, you know,
towards the end of that game, the ebbs and flows
going back and forth offensive the field, defense on the field,
my dog Carl Granderson had you know, one and a
half sacks that Brian Maze had a two sack night.
(34:23):
Delonte Taylor had added another sack to his total.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
As a DV he might be like probably a top
five leading the league for sacks. It was it three
and a half. Gotta be top five in three games.
He's going, Yeah, he's going federal. Uh. Then you think
about you know, Jalen Jalen Carter and Tyron Matthews out
there chirping at each other, and that's just part of
the game. Energy, running hot, temp rubbing, running hot. It
(34:48):
is what it is. When you see a D linean
going after dB, that's that's not even fair, for real,
for real, that fight's not ever gonna happen. Nobody cares
about that. And again in in the middle of the game,
you're gonna talk your your most know he's towards end
the game when when emotions is the highest. So it's
just football, you know, Like when I say it's just football,
it's just that regular banter that you're gonna catch. And
it just so happened to get intense football players and
(35:11):
are competitive beings to begin with. Athletes are competitive beings
for the most part, and so when you come through it,
there's gonna be there's gonna be a lot of noise
to be said. So you just gotta you gotta continue
focus on what you gotta focus on. So that was
that was just a random riff I saw. Everybody was like, well,
what do they say? They just they just jawjacking. At
that point, you know, it got animated, So it is
(35:37):
what it is. Anyways, you know, you think about even
in that game, you know the last the last part
of the final push in that game, Uh, DeVante Smith
went down and you hate to see a player ever
go down and not be able to pop right back up.
He went down whatever was. I don't even know what
he went down went down for until you saw the replay.
(35:59):
You know, he getting tackled by two or three guys
and he's trying to fight for every yard and my
my young nose tackle comes out the stack, adds in
on the ads in on the tackle. You know, a
gang tackle is just a routine tackle. There was no
ill intent other than let's get him down. He goes
down and doesn't get back up, and it's it's tough,
and then you see this fireback. You know, my young
(36:21):
bull comes in on off days like bro fans are
going crazy. I'm like like, hey, that's a running mill tackle.
You play snap to whistle, you go until you hear
the whistle. That's just is what it is. And I'm
never going to say, you know anything other than that.
It's not like he was on sidelines. He was in
the middle of field. That's a routine tackle. If it
gets blown earlier before he falls, then it's a different story.
(36:44):
But you're gonna play snap to whistle each and every time.
I think we're in the opportune time of going into
UH this week playing Atlanta, that we have to take
advantage of each and every opportunity. Atlanta's clearly beatable. Now
we have shown that we can be beat so we've
got to come out with our best because we're going
into a hostile environment going into Atlanta. We got to
get this win. And it's Atlanta Hate Week and for
(37:06):
everything about it, it's hate week. So get the dog.
We'll continue having fun. If not, we'll have to talk
about this later. Till then, I appreciate you'all tapping in.
