Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good Morning song. The interview that everyone's been waiting for,
or at least I've been waiting for. I got to
talk to Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who, yes, what
year is this? I know, but they are back in
the news sadly because they lost their house in LA
with the fires. And we talked about that. We talked
about rebuilding, and we talked about the fact that they're
going for number one on the Billboard charts with a
(00:22):
song from fifteen years ago that Heidi Montag made, Yes
from the Hills check it out. Don't let the gray
like throw you off or get away my age, but
like an early twenty something met is kind of freaking
out inside right now that I get to talk to
you guys. I'm sorry about the circumstances, but this is
kind of coo cool.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Well, thank you for you know, carrying it all, so
we'll take it.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
We're looking at for owing wins at this point.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
I mean, for the people who don't know, can you
kind of quickly walk us through. I know it's probably hard,
but I mean, unfortunately you lost your house in these
LA fires. I mean, how long did you have to
get out? How long did you know this was going
to be an issue for you. Were you able to
take anything with you? Because I hope nobody ever experiences that.
But what's that line?
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Yeah, I mean you still all day long, like this morning, Heidi,
like I was in an imaginary mood driving to coffee
and I was like, if only I had a truck,
and if I had a truck, and then you know,
you start just playing all these games of like what
you could have got more because I have a smaller
car and I filled it up, and you know, we
should have left even earlier than we did. But we've
(01:22):
evacuated a few times since we lived there in the
Palacides our lives, and it's more just precautionary, so you
just get kind of like, you know, you get some stuff,
but you're not evacuating. You'll never see anything ever again.
So we were kind of stalling out, like, oh, this
isn't that bad. Becaus we weren't watching the news because
our son had one hundred and four degree temperatures so
(01:43):
I didn't want to change the channel. So he's watching
some kids movie and I'm like put the news on,
and she's like I'm not.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
He's sitting here. So we just think the fires in
the back of our mountains behind us.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
We don't realize it's already wrapped down and coming around us,
and people are now trapped in their cars and running
to the ocehit and leaving cars, and so we didn't
even know.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
What level it was.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
So thankfully we were there longer than we should have
been and got you know, more of the kids clothes.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
But no, we didn't. We didn't know we would never
be back.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Is there a world where you go back there? Do
you want to rebuild there? Or do you you know,
what's kind of the attitude about you know, the folks
you and the people live near you, your family who
live near you. I mean, do you do you want
to start over somewhere else? I mean, how do you
approach that? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
It's it's challenging. Like a part of me thinks, okay,
maybe this is our time to like, we could go
somewhere else, we could do something else. But also we
work in La. You know, Spencer's from La. So if
we were to go somewhere else now, it's definitely the time.
But in general, everyone you know wants to be back
and loves that community and lives there. To be a
(02:49):
part of that community where really, you know, we have
a lot of friends there and it's definitely a little
safe haven from LA.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
If there is a good thing to come out of this,
it's the fact that we get to celebrate Heidi's music career,
the fifteen year anniversary of Superficial. It's wild. I mean,
we're playing the song on our show in four different cities.
You know, we're it's number one on iTunes. But I
also read that you don't get rich from that? Is
that what I read today?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Well, that's what people want.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
I don't know because we've never had a number one album.
But everyone in the comments section is like this, not
even money. There's no money in music, it's in the merchandising.
And I disagree. My goal is to keep trying to
get rich off of streaming. And I hope they're wrong
if you were like, that's not where money is. But no,
I disagree. We're going to keep I think we just
need to get to the billion stream world where the
(03:42):
you know, the weekend and these people are because they
look like they look pretty well off.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So because that's the thing I don't and I love
the look on your face. I I don't think people
knew of all the different things that you have done
that that you necessarily had this music it's fifteen years old.
Did you think when you made it, like, hey, I'm
going to be Taylor Swift or something, or that you
would be outstreaming Tailor's with fifteen years later. Was that
ever part of your mindset during the time.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yes, I definitely thought I was going to be the
next Lady Gaga because I just performed after her on
this universe and we were in talks for TV shows
with different networks, and I definitely thought I was going
to be catapulted into the Ashley Simpson Jessica Simpson world,
or I hoped at least. And then, you know, time
went by and I thought, Okay, maybe this stream is
(04:27):
you know, time to focus on something else. But I'm
really thankful for it for whatever reason, and that people
have really supported us and our family through this and
to really rise to that occasion and you know, to
support us like that is unbelievable and I just can't
think everyone, I can't thank you, you know enough for
continuing to do that because we have a long road
(04:49):
ahead and we just really continue to appreciate that because
every stream does make a difference, every purchase does make
a huge difference, and regardless, it helps our.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Souls and our s Bencher For the people that watched
The Hills that thought you were the villain, you're writing
so hard for your wife, it's amazing to see this
is not feeling material at all.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
People still don't understand that The Hills was fake and
they paid us so much money to do whatever they
wanted us to do, and technically I was riding for
at the time because I was doing whatever it took
on that show for us to have more money for
our lifestyle and at that time putting actually all of
our money into this album that's happening now.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
So that's how much I wrote for her.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Back then, I believed Heidi was going to be a
global pop star right when I met her on the
dance floor at Club Privilege.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
The last question I have, because it's viral right now,
is this Alex Cooper stuff. You know, there was the
clip of you on call Her Daddy? Was that his
ro I'm confused because she disrespected you, I thought, and
you stood up and walked out, and then it's like, well,
why aren't you helping us? Promote this thing? Was that
a stunt? Like was that were you messing around? Or
(05:57):
are you guys really friends? Or like what's the real?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
So when she initially asked on that, like, hey, can
I do this skit with you? And she said all
that stuff to get my reaction was kind of like
a way for her to say that stuff without like.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Having a real problem. So then I was like.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Okay, And then I did my skit back and she
didn't use that because mine.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Was as real as what she said. And then she's like,
can you do that again? Maybe?
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Like so she made me do a take too, and
I was fine with it because I was like, uh,
you know, people will listen to the podcast. What I
didn't get is nobody actually listened to the podcast. They
just saw the clip of her saying all these things
about me. So regardless of that, you know, it is
what it is. Since then, I've been a supporter and everything.
And so when this all happened and I'm messaging every
(06:40):
single person in my contact, I please, when any support
we get, just use this TikTok sound.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
And she didn't respond and she kept that. I kept my.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
Message that she finally wrote like we have a lot
of people displaced at her house right now, a lot
going on. So I text her Husband'm like, hey, we
don't have a house and my parents' house burned down,
and when did every stream and support we can get
really need this And then he's like, I'll let her know,
and they never did.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
And then people were messaging me, hey.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
They just re uploaded your episode on YouTube where she's
monetizing now like our tragedy and getting money off it.
So then I went like, I did lose it on TikTok,
because when you don't sleep, when your house burned down,
your emotional and comment sections getting you worked up. So
I've since dialed it down and I've moved on and
I'm not going to focus on those type of things
(07:26):
because they are taking me off of the track of
Heidi Global pops are selling music getting around the Billboard,
and I need to not worry about people that aren't
part of the movement. But it was for a minute.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
There I was I was.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
I was hurt by it because I felt like we
had a rapport. I've supported her brand and her merch
and Heidi wears it on tag it, we post it,
I share articles when she's on something you know, so
it was kind of like dang. And then eventually a
week later she does like a post not even with
her in that just writing that nobody's reading and puts
like the slow down version that no one's sharing of
(08:02):
Heidie's song is like the look I did.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
It, and it's like come on now, ud ain't it?
Speaker 1 (08:06):
And on that note, we're going to stay positive. We're
you're here for you guys. I hope you'll keep in touch,
add me to your contact list because you know we'll
have you all anytime you want. We'll play it whatever
song we want. How do people buy the stuff?
Speaker 4 (08:18):
All of our bios have a link tree. Shout out
link tree if you're in New York link tree. Put
a Heidi billboard in Times Square, so that's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
So everything's in the link tree.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Everyone says radio is most important, so help us get
number one on Billboard. And then obviously when Heidie Win's
a Grammy, we won't forget to shout you out.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
We'll come back on, come back on with the Grammy.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
That will not be forgotten that you said that. All right,
it's super simple.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Walk it in.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Hey, guys, thanks for being cool about all this and
taking the time. I'm sure you're exhausted and kind of
over it, but we're going to keep we're going to
keep the movement going for you and keep in touch
and obviously you know we all wish you the best here.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Thank you so much for your time and it helps
so much
