Speaker 1 (00:00):
Man, two tangents in a row. I mean, has it
ever been done in two in a row in one week?
Hit the intro thing, hit the tangent, giving you all
this shit we couldn't talk about on the air. All right, guys.
So the elephant in the room Rufio, And I know,
(00:20):
I know we've been getting so many comments. You know
you've seen him. I'm sure on Instagram, the internet will Internet,
the text, the emails, and Rufo is not on the
show anymore. And I don't say that coldly. In fact,
what we're all about to talk about is more than
we were supposed to say. And the reason is not
that we've had people or that we had anything to
(00:44):
do with this, because we didn't, but because we worked
for a corporation and I think you know, look, there's
an intimacy to our show. There's a connection. It's one
of the reasons why I love this business, why I
love being on the radio. And without our audience, you know,
we would be nothing. And I also know that there's
a trust that you put in us, and it's our
privilege to be a part of your day. And you
(01:06):
guys have been loyal and dedicated to us. And then
when changes happen that happen on a level above us,
that are business decisions, whether it's our decision or someone
else's decision, or the employee's decision or whatever it is. Ultimately,
then we kind of sit here and then you guys
want answers, and we can't give them to you because
like any other multi billion dollar corporation, we're not supposed
(01:27):
to comment on people's employment. And I understand that's frustrating,
and I know why people are angry, but I'm I
implore you to hear me when I say that we're
employees too, like this is our job, and things happen
that we don't want to happen. They happened around us,
and it's our job to keep going and keep doing
(01:51):
the show. But you know, and to be really candid,
we've had conversations with management. They want us to read
a statement and we don't think that's authentic, and that's
not true to us. It's not true to our relationship
with Rufio, who is still family and a brother to us,
and I don't think that's fair to you guys either.
So no, we can't get into the details of it.
(02:11):
Ruvio is not a part of the show. We love him,
We're so grateful for his contribution for so long. Whatever
he chooses to do next, I'm sure he'll be successful.
He's always part of the family. And and again, I mean,
I don't know how many times we can say it,
but unfortunately, this is a business. People make business decisions
(02:34):
and they happen without our discretion. I am not a manager.
Jason's the matin. I'm kidding. No, he had nothing to
do with it. No, no, no, no, no, he had nothing
to do with it. You know. I realized that it's
the French show and people, I think people think, well,
it's a fread show, so you must you know, you
must be in charge of it.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
No.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
No, I'm the leader of the room, but I don't
deal with our contracts. I don't deal with money. It's
an independent process that all of you know. I advocate
for people, and I'll always advocate for this room, but
ultimately it's just it's something that happens between us and management,
and it's individual and I don't have anything to do
with it. And so I don't want anyone to feel
(03:11):
insulted by what's going on. I don't want anyone to
feel insulted by the fact that we don't have much
to say. It's not because we don't feel a certain
kind of way or love Rufio or wish she were here.
But you know, look in the history of our show,
and it's going on fourteen years now. We've had people
leave for promotions. We've had we have interns leave to
go do their first radio show. I mean, Bellahamine at
(03:32):
some point will leave us to go get a big
girl sports job, and that'll be sad, but we will
celebrate her for that because no one here is ever
going to stand in the way of what is best
for each individual person. But that's a decision that each
individual person has to make for him or herself. You know,
we've had Angie go off and do her own show
and be really successful with that. We've had people leave
(03:53):
the industry entirely, relocate to different countries. We have people
go get master's degrees and go have success in other
industries and find out happiness. And there will be change.
There will always be change, But I will never I
will fight as hard as I can to keep this
room together forever. If it's up to me, if it's
my choice, there are no changes on this show ever
(04:15):
moving forward really ever. But I will never ever begrudge
anybody for doing what is best for for for them,
you know. And and I you know, I don't know
what to say. Really, I don't know if you guys
have anything else to add. But it's just like some
(04:35):
of the anger is it's just so address so that
like if you're angry and you're frustrated, and you're said, like, we.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Are too, Like you said, we saw him more than
we saw our families and see our families. We love him,
We have spoken to him. There is love always there.
And yeah, good point. I mean, if you think it's
hard for you, we're so grateful that, like we're a
part of your routine to the point where you don't
like if something's missing. I know the feeling I have myself.
(05:04):
I listened to you know, call my anxiety or whatever.
But it's very it's difficult for all of us too,
So we we are there with you.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, but ultimately things happen and and and and here's
the other thing. The Internet will Internet, the comments will comment.
It doesn't mean they're right, and it doesn't mean that
there's not love, and it doesn't mean that this is
what we wanted or the outcome that we were looking for.
But what it does mean is that we What I
say to conclude all of this is that we all
(05:34):
have jobs to do too, and we want to continue
to do the show that you guys don't want to hear.
And so we're going to continue to do that. And
it's not that we're moving on. It's not that we're
you know, not dwelling on anything else and say, hey,
we got to keep going, right, We're going to keep growing.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
And we're doing our best.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
And we're going to keep you know, doing the show
that you guys expect to hear. And and uh, we
love you, you know. Unfortunately, change is a real thing,
and I know it's painful, but it has happened, and
and you know, we obviously wish everybody involved the best
and now and now we got to move on. And
I hope everybody understands that. And and yeah, it's it's
(06:11):
a hard thing, is anyone. I don't want put any
one on the spot. I just want to make sure
everybody had an opportunity to say something if if they
wanted to.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
You don't have to, but no, you said, I mean
everybody said, you know everything very nicely. I think it's
just it's a very hard situation for almost too. Just
like you guys listening, you know, we love and appreciate
each and every one of you. We're kind of going
to this together, you know.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yeah, And I get why the company. Look, it's any company, right,
any business wherever you work, lawyers and suits, you're right,
and they don't openly discuss why the why, whether it
was someone's decision or it was their decision, it's and
I don't think you'd want them to, and so it's
not our place to do that either. But we we
have so much respect for our relationship with the audience
that we at least wanted to say this because I
(06:52):
understand there's a trust, and I understand there's an expectation
that we're going to be there. That's our job. But
sometimes things change and and we carry on.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yeah, and we might get in trouble for doing this because,
like Fred said, they wanted us to read a statement
that sounded like a robot and we're not doing that
because you guys deserve more.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Fucking suits, ma'am of it. There you go, though, That's
that's it. And and honestly not to be you know, harsh,
but that's the last thing that's going to be spoken
about this. So so that's it. So thank you guys
for listening, and I hope that you understand and uh
and yeah, yeah, thanks for listening to the show.
