Performance orientation is built on lies from the enemy. When you believe his lies, you are controlled by the feelings these lies produce. If you believed the lie "I'm not good enough?" The feeling of not measuring up can be the driving force behind your present performance.

Did you know that performance-oriented people struggle with depression? It stems from the lie that their worth is based on their accomplishments because their parent's love was conditional. Their good performance gained them acceptance and bad performance equaled immediate rejection.
There's a distinct difference between conditional and unconditional love. Love that is given consistency independent of good or bad performance is considered unconditional. It is love for who you are without conditions that have to be met.
Receiving unconditional love is important to be freed from depression. Your heart needs a daily flow of God's unconditional love.
