Speaker 1 (00:11):
Well, welcome in everybody. This is Gott Whitley and this
is Wicked Bytes Radio on this Sunday morning, Live till
twelve noon. Today, we're gonna open up the phone lines
in just a second on the program and we're gonna
let you call in and we're gonna talk about your
favorite Italian restaurants on today's program. Matter of fact, we're
gonna have one winner today and that winner is gonna
(00:33):
win one hundred dollars in cash, and that could be you.
We kick the winner at random, so who knows. So
start thinking about your favorite Italian restaurant. Whether it's here
in New England or even around the world, doesn't really
matter to us. Because people that listen to this program
and participate in this program, if they're in, you know,
(00:54):
a different community, right, if they're traveling the country or
the world, and they hear a place that gets recommended
on the radio show, you know, the chances are they
gonna go in and try it, all right, So that's
gonna be our topic on the program today for the
next two hours, and it's all up to you on
this beautiful Sunday morning. Matter of fact. A little bit
(01:14):
later on this afternoon I'm heading over to Hollis, New
Hampshire and Monument Square. They're parked there that they have there.
They have a big Italian festival and grape festival that's
going on there, brought to you by Fuccino Vineyards. I'm
gonna be there. We got our Wicked Bites Meatball Eating
Contest starting at two pm today. We have about i
(01:37):
think six restaurants all competing for the Best Meatball Awards.
So that's coming up. I'll go live on Facebook with Steve.
He's gonna get there soon because the event opens up
at twelve noon today. They have music for you to enjoy.
They got one of the best Italian singers I think
I've ever heard, and they fly him in for this event. Yeah,
and they have comedians like Dave Russo will be performing.
(01:59):
It's so much fun. It's a great time and it's
all today starting at twelve noon in Hollis, New Hampshire,
which is by Nashua. It's in that general area. And
again the Wicked Bites Meatball Eating Contest will start at
at two pm and run till four pm. We're gonna
find out who's going to be a crowned this year
is King of the Meatball. Right, it's all coming up
(02:20):
today in Hollis, New Hampshire. All right, before we get
started on the program, a couple of quick notes. If
you missed the television show yesterday about diners and breakfast spots,
you got another opportunity to see it tonight. And I
tell you, I'm telling you got to see it. It's
a really good show this week on television about diners court.
(02:41):
First of all, it's all great comfort food anyways, right,
and that's what you diners are. But we featured so
many great places from the Airport Diner in Manchester, New Hampshire,
which is about a mile from the airport. We also
featured the Dream Diner in Tingsboro, the Sixties Diner in Norwood,
and Cafe Reis and Wooster. So if you thinking about
(03:04):
what you want to do, you know that the weather
is starting to turn cooler all the way to gain
a run of nice weather next couple of days. Right,
But comfort food and diners, well that's a great way
to start off your day. And Wikibyites TV you'll see
it tonight ten p m. That's our encore presentation. See
at your DVR. Don't want to miss it because it
was really a fun time filming that episode of the program.
(03:25):
All Right, all right, here is the number to call.
We're looking for your favorite Italian restaurant on the program today.
Eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
That's eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
And as I mentioned, someone on today's program is going
to win one hundred dollars for calling in. I'm telling
(03:48):
us about their favorite Italian restaurant, all right, and that
could be you. Right, It's based on how many callers
that call in. But you got a good opportunity and
a good chance of it being you. All right, get
in nice and early. Eight eight four three four sixty
four sixty four is our number. Today's show has brought
you and made possible by Northeastern Fence Insupply Company and
(04:10):
my good buddy Mike Payne. Over there at Northeastern Fence
its supply company in Saugust, they'll locate a route one
that's northbound and Saugust. They are fencing for your kids,
dogs and ugly neighbors. While also brought to you by
Boston Salad and Prepared Foods, and they make those great
side dishes you find at some of the top delis
in New England and a lot of specialty markets. And
(04:32):
I just saw that they and I gonna get Adrian
on the program that they've come out with like a
dessert line, right because they normally do like pastas and
their cranberry wallet, chicken seal and their Asian sesame noodles.
Those are great side dishes and their tricolored total leanings.
They do a lot of that type of stuff for
side dishes. But about two years ago they started to
(04:53):
get into individual portion desserts and they had an apple crisp,
but I thought was just out of this world. The
only problem with it was was came in like a
six pound ten and a lot of fayers around New
England the fall. They were using Boston Sound and Prepared
Food their products, so they made that into individual portion size.
Now they came out with a blueberry crisp and I
(05:14):
just saw Indian bread pudding. I gotta find out about that,
all right. You probably find it at market Basket. That's
a good place to find it. You know, you can
also find it probably a big y. I had to
find a location especially in market that stocks their product.
Just go to their website bostonsalad dot com and try it.
(05:34):
That's all I ask is you try it, you're gonna
love it. A Restaurante Lucia. If I'm going to recommend
a great Italian restaurant, that's going to be one of
my favorites. Done and operated by the Frattiaroli family. It's
out there in Winchester and this is their second location.
Their first one, their original they still operate. It's in
the north end of Boston, same name, Lucia's on Hanover Street,
but this Winchester location. Boy, they moved it out in
(05:57):
nineteen eighty six and to Winchester, and I'm telling you
it just took off. It really really took off, and
to this day it's going strong. And Filipo, who grew
up in Italy, I still travels back home because he
has a villa about forty five minutes outside of Rome,
and he travels back several times a year just to
(06:18):
check up on the restaurant seeing and he brings it
to his restaurants and Restaurante Lucia and Winchester has always
benefited from that. Whether you start off with a Corosa,
which is probably one of my faces. My dad turned
me on to this. I had no idea what it was.
Just I want you to think adult mozzarella. I mean,
that's the best way to think about it. But a
little bit of a shoodo in it, right, great appetizer.
(06:39):
I would say it would be shareable for the table,
but you probably won't get any, you know, by the
time he gets back to you. Another one of my
favorites over there is there sixteen inch veal chop that
served on the bone. They grill it and they stuff
it with spinach and cheese, and boy, it is just
a head turner. It's so so good. Restaurant a Lucia
five team Mount Vernon Street in Winchester. There's plenty of
(07:02):
parking there too, whether you grab up meet up parking
spots outside or you're gonna look in the sumunicipal parking
lots like steps away. All right. Definitely definitely a place
to try. You're gonna love it. Because when people ask me,
you know, give me a great restaurant in that area.
I'm always recommended the Chias in Winchester. It's one of
my favorites. All right, Come on, folks, got open lines
(07:24):
right now? Looking for your favorite Italian restaurant on today's program.
Eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four
is the number. That's eight eight eight four three four
sixty four sixty four. As the program, I have a
feeling gets going and the lines are gonna get all
tied up. But right now I'm looking for your favorite
Italian restaurant on the program, and you got a chance
(07:46):
of winning one hundred dollars for calling in and tell
me your favorite place. All right. Eight eight eight four
three four sixty four sixty four is our number. Now
the China Blossom in North end Over they have that
all you can eat Chinese buffet that's just outstanding. And
coming up on Sunday, November tenth, Wicked Bites will be
(08:09):
hosting Kevin Cohen, our psychic medium at the China Blossom.
What a great event this is. I mean, he's a
psychic medium. They just wrote and published a book about
his life, and I'm sure he's going to bring some
copies to his psychic demonstrations, the medium mediumship demonstration of
the China Blossom. But what you do is you bring
(08:31):
a photograph of somebody who passed away and we put
those photographs up on the table in front of Kevin,
and he just kind of like scans back and forth,
back and forth, and he starts doing readings. He does
like fifteen readings during his portion of the event. And information,
I always say, is going to blow your mind. Boy,
(08:52):
it's kind of like shocking, right. And I always love
watching when people like bring the whole table and they
all know the inside story. He'll talk about conversations you
just had maybe on the way over there, or information
that only the family unit is going to know. It
just absolutely amazing. I remember we had a table and
(09:13):
I would say they you know, they were, you know,
up there, a little bit of age, and they had
a whole table, a whole bunch of family members and
their parents passed away many many years ago, and they
came to this event and Kevin starts doing this reading
for one of the folks there and he says, you know,
I just want you to know the parents know about
the fire and the barn, and everybody had a shock
(09:36):
look on their face. Turns out that the person that
was being read he accidentally when it was a child,
and that was probably like at that time fifty years ago,
accidentally set the barn on fire and none of the
kids knew it, so that was the time for him
to come clean. But that's some of the stuff that
(09:57):
Kevin can do, all right. It's just really amazing. To
get tickets north Shore Spirits dot Com. Again, it's Sunday,
November tenth of the China Blossom in North Endover. We
do include that all you can eat Chinese lunch buffet
because we've got to start it at one, so the
lunch buffet is going to be going on and then
we do the show. Event writes another great spot to
order tickets and just type in Kevin Cohen his last
(10:20):
name is spelled co a N and join us Sunday,
November at tenth at the China Blossom in Northendover. That
show is just going to blow your mind. I know
it will. It really will, all right. I can't believe it.
I don't maybe I having phone issues here, but our
lines have been quiet on today's program. I mean no
more than I like this, So let's see if we
(10:40):
can get him going right now. And again I'm looking
for first time calls. If you haven't called in before
and you got a great Italian restaurant, you know, maybe
as a great vial parmisan. That's one of my favorites. Right,
I want to know about it, right, and this is
a great time to call for your first time call
it said. Don't be shy, you know, step right up.
You know, it's just talking on the phone, that's all
(11:02):
it is. And you know we'll find out from you
what your favorite spot is and why. So that first
place that comes into your mind when I say which
your favorite Italian restaurant? Where do you go? Eight eight
eight four three four sixty four sixty four is a number.
That's eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
(11:23):
And again, Carol's going to take your name and address
because if you are the chosen winner, because're gonna have
one winner for that one hundred dollars today, we will
mail that on out to you and then you can
dine on us where we want to go for one
hundred bucks. Right, Eight eight eight four three four sixty
four sixty four is our number. Now, I had an
opportunity to go out filming for the television show this
(11:49):
past week and we visited some really neat places. I mean,
we we're lucky. We're finding some great places. I had
an opportunity to go out and experience for myself with
the very first time, a place that I think people
on this radio show have recommended for years and I
never got an opportunity to go out and experience it
(12:10):
for myself. But I went to Casey's Diner. And they're
located in MetroWest and Natick and they've been around since
I think nineteen twelve. And it's an old diner, I
mean really an old diner where the diner itself at
one time was pulled by a horse and it was
basically a horse and buggy, I guess, and they would
(12:30):
take it to area events. Now it's in a permanent
location and it's been that way for many, many years.
The Casey family has owned it most of that time,
if not all that time. Just to really amazing how
long they have owned it. They're famous for their hot dogs.
They're steamed hot dogs, but it goes much more than that.
But the atmosphere inside, boy, it's so authentic. Even where
(12:52):
they keep the buns warm. They have this copper pan
or copper ten that they've used, and the problem is,
you know, over one hundred years of use, it starts
to wear out. And you know, they have problems with it,
and you can't go to the store and just buy parts,
so they have to have parts like custom built for it.
Really sort of amazing the sea and of course the regulars. Boy,
(13:15):
the regulars just keep coming in and in and in there.
It was a fun time to film. There's only about
ten stools, that's all they have. They got some outdoor
seating so you can sit around the side, and they
do a lot of takeout. They got their takeout with
window that about a year ago I think was taken
down by a truck hit it and they had to
rebuild it. So that's back up in operation. And we'll
(13:37):
show you that segment on the television coming up somewhere
in November. You know, that's where you're gonna see that.
All right, but boy, great great time. Recommended here by
the radio show callers, and that's where I get a
lot of my restaurants that we features right here from
this radio show. So I thank you for doing that.
All right, all right, let's kick the show off today.
We're looking for your favorite Italian restaurant. The number to
(14:00):
calls eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
That's eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
Let's go to Pepprol first. Well, kick things off in
Pepprol with Nicholas. Nicholas Welcome the Wicked Bites.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Hi, how are you.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
I'm doing excellent, good good.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
We like Carmelina's in the North End in Boston. That's
one of our favorites. And the Chicken Palm is exceptionally good.
The bolling As is very good, and the Lopster Ravioli
I recommend as well. It's very very good place, very
small though hard to get a reservation sometimes, but worth
worth trying.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
I think those are some of the best places, right
the places that are a little tiny hole in the walls.
They do such a fantastic job.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Yeah, yeah, no, they're very good. And I guess Daily
Catch is very good, but that's that's exceptionally small. That's
that's on Hannover Street too, and Jocko Bos of course
is very good.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah, you know, I some of those are the top
three as far as I know. This is the first
time that I believe that Carmelina's in the North North
End has been recommended on this radio show, which I
find kind of hard to believe. I mean, because yeah,
so many people have called it throughout the years, but
I don't recall that being recommended.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Yeah, well we go there once a month, so it's
it's very very good.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Yeah, no, I'm in our opinion. Yeah. Yeah, So it's
a little small hole in Therld. Where is it in
the North End.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
It's right on Hannah.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
It's it's right on the main drag. I think it
was Hannah the street, So okay, I guess it's you know,
it's right there. It's right across the street from Mike's Pastries. Really,
so it's right.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
There, got it, all right? Carmelina's And let's see, let's
see if I just fought award winning Italian restaurant located
in Boston's historic North End and it's at three oh
seven Hanover Street, uh in Boston. So that that sound
like a great place. And thank you very much Nicholas
for starting today's program off.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Sure you to have a good day.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Thank you very much. We're going to jump down to
Jamaica plane next and we're going to talk with let's say,
we're going to talk with Mark k.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Mark.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Welcome to Wicked Bites Radio.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
Thanks, it's good to be here.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Good morning, cooy.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
The place I want to recommend is Antonio is Bacari
and Hyde Park.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Okay, more modern Italian.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
It's a like a more modern Italian place. They've got
some pretty wild dishes. They don't have chicken parm unfortunately,
but their rigo is so good with the pork in it,
and that's my go to dish. Unfortunately, I haven't really
explored the menu too much because the rigo is so good.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Yeah, they have a full bar. It's a nice, very
nice modern Italian restaurant.
Speaker 6 (16:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
That would you just say you haven't explored the menu.
I understand exactly what you're talking about because there are
a lot of times I'll go to a restaurant and
it's particularly if they're one of my favorite restaurants, and
I really never jump off of my favorite items because
it's so good. It's it's hard to imagine anything could
get better.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
Yeah, yeah, I do get an appetizer though. The aarontini
there is really good.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
How do they make their entini?
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Oh, it's like really it's kind of well done on
the inside, but they still kind of keep it soft
and nice on the inside, So it's a good crunch,
but then you bite into it and it's smooth and heavenly.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Yeah. Well, you know my favorite Arentini right now, because
I love Arentina. I think it's a great appetizer. Premiere
on Broadway in Somerville. They do a phenomenal job there,
And and Krinn's mother, I actually was their mother of grandma,
I think it was a grandmother. At one time, the
family owned a deli and once a week she would
(17:46):
make Arentini's and I think it was like on a Tuesday,
and they would start selling it at eleven thirty and
there'd be a line of construction workers that would be
around the street. And she brought that recipe to her restaurant,
use it at Premiere on Broadway in Summerville. They put
a little bit of cheese in it. It's it's excellent,
just really really good.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
Oh yeah, that's probably the best Italian appetizer in my opinion.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, I think so too. I I don't I don't
think you find anything finer than a great ar in
cheeni if you ask me, or as they call it,
rice ball, I mean, I'm fine either way.
Speaker 6 (18:19):
Right.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Oh yeah, all right, So let's tell everybody that the
recommendation that you had, so we could tell everybody again
that the name of the restaurant in Hyde.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Park Antonio's Bacari and and it's right right in the
main square.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
There, Okay, right in the main.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Right in the series square grill.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Okay. Perfect's say, the parking.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Shouldn't be too bad because there's a there's a municipal
lot there and there's usually street parking on weekends.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Yeah, it's a lot easier on the weekends to go
to a lot of these places, especially if you go
for an early dinner, you know, or a late line
the commuter rail.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
So yeah, the lots of the commuter rail parking is
there on the weekends.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Okay, all right, So I haven't met five Fairmont Avenue
in Hyde Park.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Yeah, yeah, you're the old Vermont grill.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Okay, perfect, all right, great. I want to thank you
very much for your phone call today. And you know
now I'm in the mood foreign Chini's you got me thinking?
All right, Mark, thank you. All right, let's jump over
now to West Roxbury and we're going to talk with Diane. Diane,
welcome to the Wick of Bites. Hey are you excellent? Diane?
(19:30):
What's your favorite Italian restaurant.
Speaker 7 (19:34):
The old favorite that everyone knows, The Pleasant Cafe in
Rosindale Square.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
All right, tell me about him. What's it like? What's
it like there?
Speaker 7 (19:45):
I will it was. I think it's from nineteen thirty
seven or thirty nine. It's it's kind of a diner
with you know, you walk in the door and it's
a it's a it's an alley with bootstny side, and
then another part that's a bar with booths running along
(20:07):
beside it, and they the pizza is well known famous.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
If you go there during Lent on Friday, you'd be shocked.
There's like four hundred pizzas ready to.
Speaker 8 (20:22):
Go out the door.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Wow. Wow.
Speaker 7 (20:26):
The ail Palm, the avil Palm is really good and
it's really cost effective. I think it's fourteen ninety.
Speaker 9 (20:34):
Five for really good Oh that's it extremely a great
price yet, Yes.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Spaghetti, Pleasant Cafe. Yeah, the Playing Cafe has had a
lot of recommendations on this radio show. I have never
gone to it, but I think with its history and everything,
this is something I probably love. The feature on the
TV show. Maybe we'll do that early part of next
year so people can see it.
Speaker 7 (20:56):
Well, it's been on Chronicle and at one box and
it's best a few years ago. And I think Chronicle
was there twice. Okay, once to the pizza and once
for the veil palm.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Well it can't go wrong with either.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
Yeah, and uh what else? Oh give meat balls a
homemade Oh don't over Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Okay, it's to me.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
It's called the Pleasant Cafe. I got them located at
forty five to fifteen Washington Street and Rosindale And as
you mentioned, they've been around since what the thirties, nineteen thirties? Yeah, wow, yeah,
that's a long time being. It serving up great Italian
comfort food, right, really good. Yeah, And from what I'm seeing,
it's nothing fancy inside, just a place we're gonna get
(21:43):
some good food.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
It is not fancy inside.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
That's what I love. I love those places, iscy. Yeah,
that's what I like. Right, You're just gonna go out
and get good food the best way.
Speaker 7 (21:56):
And you know the waitresses they've been there for thirty years.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
You know.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Yeah, yep, I'm sure it's been a family run for
many of those years. Diane. Thank you very much for
your phone call. Again, that's the Pleasant Cafe in Rosindilt
at forty five fifteen Washington Street in Rosindale. Great recommendation
from Diane. All right, I'm gonna break here in just
a second for the news at the bottom of the hour,
(22:21):
and then we'll come back with this topic. Got some
lines open right now. We're looking for your favorite Italian
restaurant on today's program. And again, everybody that calls in
is going to be entered into win our grand prize today.
One hundred dollars in cash. I was gonna say a
gift card, but it's one hundred dollars in cash, all right,
So who knows? It could be you for calling in
(22:42):
about your favorite Italian restaurant. And if you hear a
place that gets recommended on the show and that's your
favorite place, by all means, call in. Tell me about
that place again, just second that recommendation, all right? Eight
eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four is
a number. That's eight eight eight four three four sixty
four sixty four. A quick shout out to John Carlino
(23:04):
at Exchange Street Bistro in Maldon. They're located at sixty
seven Extrange Street in Malden. They have this prefixed dinner
and it's Sunday through Thursday nights. And I'm telling you
it's an outstanding, outstanding value because the Exchangeree Bistro has
Boston atmosphere at neighborhood prices even though it's located right
(23:26):
there in steps from Boston. You can see Boston from
parts of the street over there in Maldon, that's where
Exchangereet bstro is located. So this prefix menu, it's thirty
two dollars and you got a choice of like a
super or a full salad, a choice of two different entrees,
and then a full dessert. And the best part about
it is every month they put new things up there,
(23:49):
so it's always different flavors every single month. Exchange Street Beastro,
say height to John Carlino, I love this place. With
you going there for lunch or Sunday brunch, You're gonna
love the Exchange Street b Strope sixty seven Exchange Street
in Maul And I let me take a quick break
here for the news. We're gonna come back with more
(24:11):

the WICKA.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Bites Hi, Scott, how are you?
Speaker 1 (26:43):
I'm doing excellent, Lisa.
Speaker 10 (26:45):
So, we have a restaurant in Watertown called Revello's Italian Kitchen. Okay,
it is on Trapella Road. It's a small restaurant, Stanley owned.
They make an unbelievable pizza. Most of their apastas are homemade.
(27:06):
They have a short rib ravioli that is to die for,
really good there.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
I love short rib because so tender, it really is.
Speaker 10 (27:20):
Yeah, and they have, like I said, the pizzas are great.
They have a lot of seasonal appetizers. They did the
stuff bucchini flowers during the summer. They just have really
really good food. It's a nice atmosphere. They have a
nice little bar area and it's one of my favorites.
(27:41):
I'm Italian and they have really good Italian food.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Okay. The name of the restaurant again.
Speaker 10 (27:47):
It's Ravello our A V. E. L.
Speaker 11 (27:50):
L O.
Speaker 10 (27:50):
Ravello Italian Kitchen. And that's in Watertown on Trapello Road
in Watertown.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
That's a new one to me so far, I've had
a couple of places that that are new to me,
and I love hearing that on the program today because
I visited so many restaurants and it's so it's so
hard to keep up on them all.
Speaker 10 (28:09):
But I know it's like a wonderful around a few years. Okay,
but they're worth They're worth the trip.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Excellent food and how would you put their pricing in
the moderate range?
Speaker 10 (28:21):
I would say moderate, definitely moderate there, it's very reasonable,
you know, I would say entrees in between like twenty
and thirty.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Okay, that's not that's not bad at all.
Speaker 6 (28:34):
A Ight.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
It's called Romeelo's Italian Kitchen. It's located one thirty six
Belmont Street in Watertown. Yes, got it, Thank you, Lisa.
A great phone called great recommendation. Let's jump down to
Norwell and we'll talk with Claire Claire. Welcome the Wicked
Bites with Scott Whitley.
Speaker 12 (28:52):
Hi, good morning, good come on, come on, I'm calling
regartting the Venetian. It's located in Weymouth.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Okay, Yeah, Italian.
Speaker 12 (29:00):
Restaurant nine O nine Broad Street, and the shrimp Skimpy
is one of my favorite, along with the seared scollops.
It's one of the nicest restaurants in the getting ready
for the holiday season, and you can be booking your parties.
It's totally decorated for the upcoming holiday season. They have
(29:21):
it posted and it's a great place to have family
holiday parties.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
I have not been to the Venetian Restaurant since John
Pica owned the restaurant for many, many, many years, and
I think you sold it what about five years.
Speaker 13 (29:35):
Ago, right right?
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Yeah. It was always one of those places where you
just went there for a good meal and the prices
were always excellent, excellent, excellent.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
There.
Speaker 12 (29:48):
Yeah, I have another recommendation, another pot in Boston.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
Let me just tell everybody. I'll tell everybody this and I'll
let you do the other recommendation. It's the Venetian Restaurant
nine O nine Broad Street in Weymouth. And then your
other recommendation.
Speaker 12 (30:02):
Delphinos is located in Rosendale, right across the street from
the Rosendale commuter reel.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Yes, that's a wonderful Yep.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
You can't go.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Wrong with Viale Parmesan if you ask me, it's it's
it's it's one of those things. Actually, I take that back.
My wife reminds me. I had Veale parmesan and we
were in Cooperstown, New York, and it was probably the
worst meal I've ever had in my life. They had
no idea what there was no cheese on it. But
I'm sure Delphino's that's that's not going to be an
(30:35):
issue for them.
Speaker 12 (30:37):
Oh, great time of the year to get a good
certificate for the holiday season coming up. It's great at
the two little local, great restaurants.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Yeah, yeah, Delfino's again. They're located in Rosendale at a
seven fifty four South Street in Rosindale. And yet, could
you believe we're already talking holiday gift certificates. I mean
we're working our way into the season.
Speaker 12 (30:59):
Yeah, it's Halloween and then on to Veterannesday and Thanksgiving, right.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Gift cut it's working that way, Claire, Thank you very
much for your phone call. We still haven't had the
leaves fall yet, I mean or changed colors to a
big degree down here in New southern New England. I
know up in the mountains it's changed pretty bit.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
But as soon as the leaves change and they fall,
everybody starts talking about the holidays. I mean, that's how
close we are. Only a couple of weeks away. All right,
let's go to Mike in Ober next Hey Mike, welcome.
Speaker 14 (31:31):
Hik Scott.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Good morning. How are you. I'm doing doing really well, Mike.
It's a lovely day. Yeah. I can't wait to head
to Hollis, New Hampshire after this. I mean, the weather
is just perfect.
Speaker 8 (31:42):
I totally agree two things. I know I'm a little
off point, but last week you talked about good Night Johnny's. Yeah, yep, Yeah,
place is excellent. We went there for brunch last Sunday
after you spoke how of it? And yeah, the food
is phenomenal. The place, it's definitely top notch. It's clean,
(32:03):
but I mean the food. The bacon did they give
you is like I told my girl, it's like a
piece of It's like a steak.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
But you know, I don't know. Yeah wrong, But I
mean here, here I am on the bacon. Yeah, I
was on a diet and I walked in there and
I was back in the back because we were filming
for a it's probably gonna have some somewhere mid November,
and we're filming in the back and here I'm on
my diet and I'm in the back and they're doing
(32:32):
this pork belly with a whiskey sauce that's so thick
over the top, the smell of it. Oh, I had
to have a little bite of it. It was just it
was just fantastic. And they have their own pastry chef,
and the atmosphere and the prices for what you get
are incredible. Good Night, Johnny Is.
Speaker 8 (32:49):
And Browne Town very reasonable. I mean I got the
fresh host combo. I think it was eighteen dollars with
two sides. I got a couple eggs, had over in
the bacon and delicious.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, and they got the jazz brunch going on right.
Speaker 8 (33:03):
Yeah, that's that was another thing that enticed me because
I love jazz music in that just like a bonus.
Not three guys playing, they play me someday, I guess.
And they're very talented in nice people. So I think
it's a great spot. And I live at Woolman. George
pas So, thank you for.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Yeah, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was one of
those places and I imagined this last week on the
show when I go out filming. You know, I've been
to so many restaurants. I've seen so much, I've tried
so many different cuisines that sometimes places just surprise you
and I, especially because you know the I knew the
background of the owner. He was in the tech business,
(33:42):
the tech world, and I decided to retire out of that,
and about a year ago we opened up this restaurant,
but without restaurant experience. So he went out and he
got a great, great chef. You got, uh a person
that that makes the cocktails that are patting to drink
some of the drinks actually shares a pat and on.
And they brought in a pastry chef. They did it right.
(34:06):
And the atmosphere is just gorgeous too, just gorgeous.
Speaker 8 (34:11):
Oh yeah, the de corps I remember you stopped talking
about the chandelier.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
They had the yes yep and the trump a piano
to the ceiling, like yeah, yeah, yeah. Place is cool. Yep.
It's called good Night Johnny's. I'd like to try it, Yeah,
good Night Johnny's. It's located, I'll tell everybody at one
fifty six Cambridge Street in Burlington. I would say it's
about a mile from one to twenty eight, right at
(34:35):
past Moo Restaurant. I guess is the best description to
tell you where it isn't and there's a shopping plaza,
so there's tons of parking, tons of parking, so you'll
really enjoy it.
Speaker 8 (34:45):
I know you're not from the area, but that whole
block used to be Building nineteen and a half. Ah okay, yep,
Fuel Building nineteen and a half.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Yeah, I remember going into Building nineteen and you would
always go down by where they had the car. It's
always smelled like smoke. Right, oh yeah, yeah, but boy
they did. Yeah. One more just clicks, Charlott.
Speaker 8 (35:09):
I don't want to take too much of your time,
but uh, Leonardo's and Wolburn Leona's. It's he's the only open,
you know, business hours. Basically take you soup on Saturdays.
But what a good pizza and just a great guy.
Everything is fresh, he makes everything in the house. He
should really check it out. Leon Leoni's Restaurant. It's on
New Boston Street of Woolburn Okay, and Ron the owner,
(35:32):
he's a veteran, great guy. He puts you know, videos
on Facebook saying if you don't have money, go on
and I'll feed you like it's a great guy. And
the food is top notch.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Oh that that that's that's fantastic. You don't you don't know. Well,
first of a lot of places can't even afford to
do that, uh, to feed everybody. But it's great to
see that he has a big heart and willing, willing
to get people in there to help him out.
Speaker 8 (35:57):
He isn't He's in an industrial area and have the
build sylviacant, so I imagine you know, he's not making
a ton of money, but.
Speaker 14 (36:07):
Everything he does is top notch.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
All right, Leonardo's Turkey.
Speaker 8 (36:10):
Sandwich Thanksgiving sandwich was a special less week Oh I
love those?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Yeah, yeah, I could have that. First of all, I
love turkey dinner, but then you make it into a
Thanksgiving sandwich. Boy, there's nothing fine or if you ask me.
Speaker 8 (36:26):
Oh yeah, and his pizza is top notch.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Okay. Leonardo's at one thirty New Boston Street in Woolburn
is where I have them located, so people go out
and try it. All right, Mike, thank you very much
for your phone call. I'm glad you liked and loved
Good Night Johnny's and Burlington.
Speaker 8 (36:43):
Yeah, I'll be there about twelve o'clock.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
All right, tell him I said hi, and grab a
drink for me too, right, and did you try any
of their desserts. Their pastry chef is like, I mean,
it's just crazy good too.
Speaker 8 (36:56):
Yeah, the place is great. I was very impressed.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Yeah, all right, great, thank you very much Mike for
your phone call. We're gonna go to Canton next and
I and can't and I'm gonna ask you could you
pronounce your first name for me? I don't want to
say it wrong. All right, welcome to Wicked Bites.
Speaker 14 (37:13):
First, we love your show.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Your dad was great to thank you very much.
Speaker 14 (37:17):
Just I want to put a couple of zingers before
I put in on Italian kunt or something that when
you order it places now that it's consistently inconsistent.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Yes, yep, I've been to takeouts. Yeah, I've been. I've
been a couple places.
Speaker 14 (37:33):
Well, I want to put a couple of zingers in
on a couple of people. In Washington Street and Canton.
There's an Apollo Pizza. It's the only pizza place you
basically get. I got the steak tips. They were incredible.
I got the steak tips the other day. You give
me a little salad with it, a little bit of
rice with it. I got a pizza. Pizza was like
hodboard with a little uh to made a pure on it. Uh,
(37:58):
the tips, I asked a medium. They must have been
marinated at the bottom of the bucket and they come
out chocole and there was loaded with so much sodam
it was a joke. Now the salad, I didn't get
one cucumber and I got one grape tomato in the
whole thing, and the high pot of the lettuce was brown.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
Yeah, it doesn't sound like it doesn't sound like a
good good night out. But but have you gone there?
Speaker 14 (38:27):
It's been the takeout.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Have you gone there before? They've been you know, this
way a lot.
Speaker 14 (38:31):
Yeah, the time, two times before that was great. The
time it was mediocre. Then that left a bad taste
in my mouth. That we were hungry, my wife and I.
So it's not worth it for us to cook, so
we got takeouts. Another place that dad used to love
was Chinatown. Oh yes, they had trouble through COVID and Canton.
Now they got a new management sign. I went in
(38:53):
the place, look a little little dirtier and I got
some low made noodles. They were like mush And what
they put in for that that house Lomaine. I like
it because they'll put in shrimp little chicken, little pork.
It was all the rancid pots of everything. They got
the bad taste in my mouth.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Yeah that's right. I mean I have been into Chinatown
and probably in stove to get that rack of ribs,
the ribs, the Chinatown ribs. They would slow smoke.
Speaker 14 (39:25):
Yeah, that's another next next place I got. The Italian
Kitchen used to be great in Brockton when Gus was there,
Joanne and Vinnie, but they sold out. The sun died
and uh they let the moist. I forgot. It was
the Cape Pizza place. They took it over. You can't
(39:45):
beat their by pizza.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
It's great, No, no, I know they sell their bar
pizza frozen the area, especially markets, particularly on the South.
Speaker 14 (39:55):
They kept the Cape, they kept the Italian Kitchen alive.
Dust and Vinnie. They gave of all the recipes to them.
But now it's like your like your mother, your grandmother.
They'll give you the recipe put it together. They just
put a pinch of this, pinch of that in the other,
and it comes out perfect. But you follow the recipe
to the letter, it doesn't taste the same.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Yeah, yep, yeah, So now.
Speaker 14 (40:20):
I got the chicken in there. I've been I know,
Gus is nineteen fifty one when I I've been eating
this stuff for sixty five years, seventy years. The meatball
seemed to be soggy, waughter down sauce. It's commercial, but
it's not what it was.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
Yeah, yeah, well it sounds like you haven't had it.
Speaker 14 (40:43):
It was like rubber.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Yeah, it sounds like you haven't had a good dining
experience in a while. So, you know, I would like
to go out to eat.
Speaker 14 (40:51):
If you cook, it's the same amount of money, all.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Right, nowadays it is. You're right, But you know what
I would do. I would listen to the rest of
this program and maybe we could find you some great
restaurants in that Canton area. That way, go out and
try it. All right, all right, thank you very much
for your phone call. I'm late for a break here.

some great Italian restaurants. They're just greater restaurants in that
(41:15):
Canton area by all means, call in on the program
and let us know. Eight eight eight four three four
sixty four sixty four is whatever. That's eight eight eight
four three four sixty four sixty four. We're here till
twelve noon taking your phone calls today, so I hope
you call it in about your favorite Italian restaurant as well.

Yes, they do, they do, and I know they're they're again.
They're located at what Route one southbound in Danvers and
one of the big things that they have is their
chicken parmesan. It's excellent. I think they make their own
pasta as well.

Yes, I had. I had the deal time. It was
delicious and homemade too, silly pasta.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
With that m Yeah, it was great. No, that sounds fantastic.
It really is Madia. I again, I haven't been there
probably about it a year, and I like the restaurant
because you walk in and one side you get the
lounge area, which is really a lively lounge of people.
A lot of people come there in the late afternoon
and they get the dining on the other side. If
you just want to sit down and have a meal
by the fireplace, you could do that.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
Oh, very nice. Yeah, you start off with a seafood tower.
That was good.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Yeah, I can't go wrong with that right, No, not
at all.

Then we got on the Lamb Shops the Raca lamp
for another appetizer.

Speaker 1 (46:55):
No, it's a great restaurant. It's located a Root one
uh southbound and Danvers. And I was trying to think
of how to tell people to get there. It's you know,
what to look for in that area. But let me
see if I could just give everybody the address so
they could put into the GPS one twenty six Newbury
(47:16):

Madire Restaurant, which means a magic in Italian. Yeah all right, Bob,

Steve's gonna be down there as well, and I'll try
(50:12):
to get the Winter on next Saturday nights radio show
here on WRKO, Wicked Bites at night Saturday nights from
five to six. All Right, I don't have a winner
from the first hour because we're gonna have one grand
prize winner today and that's for one hundred dollars. Yeah,
you heard me right, one hundred dollars and what I
(50:33):
am looking for and everybody that calls in gets entered
into the contest. But when you call in, you got
to tell me on the radio on air, what's your
favorite Italian restaurant? All right, pretty simple task to do.
So if I said to you, what's the first one
that comes and pops into your mind, that's the place
(50:54):
I'm looking for. Here's the number to call eight eight
eight four three four sixty four six four. That's eight
eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four. And
we got some open lines, so the news break for
the first time in a long time on the program today.
So it's a good opportunity for you to call in.
And we've had a lot of first time callers in
the program and I love I love that because they've
(51:15):
been recommending some places that are new to me and
I love hearing about them. All right, so these these
could be a little tiny I don't care for the
takeout place or a little small hole in the wall.
Where are you going out for Italian food? What's your
favorite place? Whether it's here in New England, I don't
care if it's in Italy, or it could be in
Florida or California. I don't It doesn't matter because listeners
(51:37):
to this program, when they travel, they try to seek
out those places they get recommended. It's really amazing on
this program. All right, here is the number to call
eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
And again we do it a little bit different here,
Carol will take your name and address because at the
end of this hour and I announce the winner, the
(51:58):
grand prize winner from the two it's gonna win one
hundred dollars. We'll have your address, so we'll just mail
it on out to you and it could be you.
All right, here's gonna call eight eight eight four three
four sixty four sixty four. All right, eight eight eight
four three four sixty four sixty four. Again, I gotta
give you a quick reminder television show tonight, the Encore presentation,
(52:21):
I want you to make sure your DV are it.
It's on nesson the New England Sports Network. We take
a look at diners some of the I think some
of my favorite food, comfort food is found at diners, right,
and we featured a lot of great diners on the program.
And this episode is one of my favorite to produce.
It really really is. And I know you're gonna love
(52:42):
it as much as I did producing it with all
that great comfort food. All Right, So that's tonight at
ten pm, and then next Saturday and Sunday, because our
airtimes are Saturday morning at eight thirty and Sunday nights
at ten pm. I know they are during the week
on Nesson and MESS and Plus, but the weekend times
they never change. So next Saturday morning, brand new episode
at eight thirty am, we're gonna take you out to
(53:04):
a fairly new Lebanese restaurant in that union station, the
transportation building in Wooster. That's one of the places that
we're going to feature on the program. We'll take you
out to the Wenham Tea House, America's oldest tea house,
with a chef that was the corporate chef for Wolfgang Puck. Yeah,
so they got brunches that go on there. Of course
(53:25):
they have high tea, but you have a really specialized
menu there, so you're gonna see that. We'll take you
out to the Boathouse Bistro also in Hingham, in Hingham Shipyard.
So that's all coming up. Brand new episode of wickabytes
TV next Saturday morning at eight thirty on nesson New
England Sports Network. All right, eight eight eight four three
four sixty four sixty four is our number? Looking for
(53:47):
your favorite Italian restaurant on the program today, let's kick
this hour off. We're gonna go to Medford and we're
gonna talk with Rob.
Speaker 6 (53:55):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
Welcome to Wicked Bites with Scott Whitley.
Speaker 4 (53:58):
Hey, good morning, Scott, Good morning.
Speaker 20 (54:00):
Yeah, just a plug here for your Italia in Medford.
Speaker 1 (54:05):
Okay, the name of the restaurant again, I had a
problem hearing that.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
Sure, pure Italia.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
Okay, yeah, and tell me about it.
Speaker 20 (54:15):
Well, it's a small little place.
Speaker 4 (54:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 21 (54:18):
The seating capacity is probably twenty five. The owners from Italy,
they make their own bread, the best bread. Often that
they import a special oil in Italy like a dot green.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
Menus.
Speaker 21 (54:34):
Not that collective, but it's just the authentic, great Italian food.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
I just wanted to.
Speaker 5 (54:40):
Put a plug in for them and people will try it.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
Oh, it sounds like a great spot. Is it a
little hole in the wall.
Speaker 22 (54:48):
Uh, the corner is nice, it's it's small, sam straight,
they are in opponents, it's a expanding I haven't been
there in a while, to be honest with you, have
been out of the but every time we go.
Speaker 4 (55:03):
My wife and I may regret.
Speaker 21 (55:05):
Great place owners, always there, very friendly atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
Okay, let's tell everybody that the name and you know
what street it is on in.
Speaker 9 (55:13):
Wooburn on Salem Street, Salem straight. Okay, Salem and the
name again. Sure, f I R E F I R
E Italia.
Speaker 1 (55:25):
If you're Italian on Salem Street. I got that at
one seventeen Salem Street. And it does look like I'm
just leaking. It looks like a nice little place too,
with a little brick facade.
Speaker 4 (55:38):
Run.
Speaker 20 (55:39):
Hopefully you'll try it.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
Yeah, I get you can't go wrong with Italian food, right, No, exactly,
you really can't. It's really it's really hard to go wrong.
And you got a place it turns out good food.
You go back time and time again.
Speaker 20 (55:53):
I guarantee if they people go there, they'll go back.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Yeah. I see that the chef is from a little
island off the coast of Naples. That's sure.
Speaker 4 (56:07):
Yeah, but yeah, just food, fantastic.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
Great. All right, thank you very much, Rob for your
phone call. All right, let's stay in that general area.
We're going to go to Jay next in Wilburn. Hey, Jay,
welcome to Wicked Bites. Jay. Hello j all right, No,
no Node, No Jay? All right. Eight eight eight four
three four sixty four sixty four is our number again.
(56:33):
We're looking for your favorite Italian restaurant on today's program.
That first place that comes to mind when I say it,
what is it? Eight eight eight four three four sixty
four sixty four. And again, if you heard a place
that gets recommended, it's been recommended already on the program
by all means, call back and tell me why it's
your favorite spot, all right. Eight eight eight four three
(56:53):
four sixty four sixty four. Dom Sausage Company in Maldon.
This is a great specialty shop. It really is. It's
a full service butcher and wholesale deli. And it's one
of the other places I know that you could actually
sit down in the middle of the especially store and
have like breakfast and lunch in there, and there's steak
Tips there. You know about their steak tips. They're fantastic,
(57:15):
they really are. But you go in there in the morning,
right and get maybe steak tips with eggs or steak
tips sandwich in the afternoon, and on Tuesday, I believe
it's Tuesday where Dom's mother has a seafood casserole dish
that is just out of this world. It's so good.
I thought it was just absolutely fantastic. And you always
bring home some of the marinated steaks tips that they
(57:38):
have there. They're so good, all their marinated meats and
they come vacuum sealed, so it lasts for a long time.
They're open seven days a week, really really really early
in the morning too, I mean really early. And it's
just one of those places that have been going strong
for I have to say about eighty years. It's been
operated by the body Telly family. Yeah, two years ago
(58:00):
they completely remodeled the entire place. Dom Sausage Company, and
that is of course located in Malden in the north
end of Boston. There is a place that is open
every day of the week that weekend for lunch and dinner.
It's called Flipo Restaurant Day. It's what I would call
(58:22):
the gateway of Boston's historic North End. It is one
of my favorite places too. On a daylight today, where
the weather's going to be in what the low seventies,
I have a feeling they're gonna have all the Florida
ceiling windows open, so you're gonna feel like you're dining
out in Italy with some great, great food, beautiful atmosphere
in there as well. Try to save room for dessert
(58:44):
if you can. They make their own terra masou, and
I love the way that they they present it in
sort of like a little bit of a champagne glass.
It's excellent, it really is. I will recommend they are
Ville parmesan with a thin layer of eggplant on top.
(59:05):
That make their own homemade sauce there. It's so so good,
I think on the menu it's called the Boston Garden.
You got to check it out, all right, that's Felipo
Restaurante at two A three Cosby Street in Boston. And
best of all, you know, you go to an event
at the Garden right next door, right, But I say
go in the off nights because there's a parking garage
right next door to them, and so it's easy to
get in and out. And most of the restaurants in
(59:27):
the North End you're walking forever and it's hard to
find parking, right, but Filipo has that really covered because
that garage is just steps away. All right, Felipo's two
A three Cosby Street in Boston's historic North End. All right,
we're looking for your favorite Italian restaurant on the program
today eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
Let's go to Sal in Haveril. Next Sal, Welcome to
(59:48):
Wicked Bites.
Speaker 20 (59:52):
I like to go to Myleos in Lexington. But they
have the great they have great pasta, they have great.
Speaker 4 (59:57):
Chicken palm jah.
Speaker 20 (59:58):
But they have the best play of Vanna in b
And I.
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
Think, Yeah, I'm not familiar with them, so tell me
a little bit about them.
Speaker 20 (01:00:06):
It's a small place. It's owned by Jimmy's, Jimmy's and Alington.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
I don't know if you have oh I had, so
they own Marios.
Speaker 20 (01:00:14):
Huh, they own Marios. You can bring your own beer
and wine in. Me and my wife usually go there
on Sundays, and I tell you they have during the
holiday seasons, you can buy like take out trays of
like chicken tom lasagnya. I don't recommend buying the meatballs,
(01:00:35):
but the sausage are great. But everything's great. It's you're
in and out of the place within like a half
an hour, and it's really good. It's like very casual.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
Yeah. No, it sounds like a great place that I
had no idea. It was owned by the folks that
that have Jimmy, So I think this is a place
that people gonna want to go out and try. How
are their prices? That's you say, it's a small hole
in the water. The price is fairly reasonable.
Speaker 20 (01:01:03):
The price the price for excellent. You know you can
go in there with five six people, you know, three
couples and walk out of there just a little over
hundred bucks.
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
No, that's not bad at all. Mario's Italian Restaurant. I
have them located at seventeen thirty three Mass Avenue in Lexison,
sal Thank you very much for your phone call. Let's
jump down to a place known for the clams right
all around the world too, in Essex and we talk
with Meredith Marey Welcome to Wick of Bites.
Speaker 23 (01:01:34):
Hi, good morning, good morning. Yeah up here in Essex
where seafood all the way. But I'm going down to
the cape. Actually we have a cottage down there and
I'm I'm going to recommend Sopranos in nash pe Okay,
there's actually two sopranos. There's one Sopranos in mash p
which is the one we've gone to a cup several times.
(01:01:57):
It's and then there's another one in Foulm, which is
right on the water, and we're going to try to
head there this summer because it looks on the website
it looks absolutely gorgeous. But there's the problems In Mashpiez,
where we've gone several times. It's kind of a special
occasion place because it's not you know, it's not really
(01:02:20):
super expensive, but it's also not a bargain. But I
the last time we went, you kept talking about you
get chicken palm with a little bit of egg plan.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
Yeah, right on top of it.
Speaker 23 (01:02:33):
Yeah, oh my god, I got it. It was unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
It is.
Speaker 23 (01:02:38):
So I don't know whether the egg plant makes the
chicken more tender.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
I have no idea. I normally get it on the
veal parmesan, but I'm sure it's the same on the
chicken parmesan. And if they do, I'm somebody that's kind
of I don't know about you, but I'm fossy with
egg plant. I like it like like thin, you know,
and then fried perfectly, and somehow it keeps that consistency.
Even though they put the sauce on top of it.
(01:03:04):
It doesn't seem to It doesn't seem that the sauce
soaks into it and takes out the taste. It still
has that that wonderful taste to it.
Speaker 13 (01:03:12):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 23 (01:03:13):
It was unbelievable. I was thanking you as I was,
and the sauces are are exceptional. I've also gotten the
chicken pacata there, which is really good. My husband always
gets the veal parm He didn't do the eggplant on top,
but I just I was just thanking you and thanking
you everybody I took of that. It was just delicious.
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
Yeah, not a lot of places do it, that's the
whole thing, and I guess you gotta do it right.
I've seen places that use like a thick cut of eggplant,
and to me, that's that's wrong. It just needs to
be that thin egg plant. I mean, you can put
multiple layers if you want an eggplant. If as long
as it's done thin, I think there's nothing finer.
Speaker 23 (01:03:59):
Yeah, it's so the so the Sopranos and Massie is
not large. It's a white tablecloth place, but there's a
bar on one side, a small bar on one side,
and it looks to me like that's where kind of
the regulars go and they sit at the bar. But
the restaurant there's a night nice big mahogany booths. So
it's very very comfortable. You know, you feel like you're
(01:04:21):
in your your very private when you're sitting in the booth.
So i'd highly recommend it if you're down in that area.
It's near New Seabury and poppin As a beach. We
own a place in pop Asa Beach and it's you know,
if you have a special occasion, I would highly highly
recommend it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
Yeah, I have a film. This time of year, when
the when the crowds are all gone, it's probably the
best time you hear to visit these restaurants.
Speaker 23 (01:04:45):
Oh yeah, for sure, for sure, that's when we.
Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
Go Sopranos Sopranos restaurant. They at six eighty one Thalmouth
Road in Mashpe. That sounds a great place. So I
thank you, thank you Meredith for your phone call. And
you know you got a go Italian restaurant there in Essex.
I opened up about I would say a year and
a half ago. Beats to Bella Restaurants.
Speaker 23 (01:05:07):
Yeah, we have yet to go there. I have to
go there. But that used to be. That used to
be not the village. It used to be the Wayward.
Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
The Wayward Grill or something along that line. And wayward
and Susan came in and took it over, turned it
into an Italian restaurant. It's just absolutely gorgeous inside because
parts of the the old farmhouse date back three hundred
years and it's all post beam structure inside with fireplaces
in several of the dining rooms and and it almost
(01:05:39):
looks like it's brand new. I mean the post beams
inside are just perfect. They looked like they were just
cut and put up. It's really amazing.
Speaker 23 (01:05:48):
We went there, you know, before it changed hands. And
you know there's supposedly a ghost upstairs. I don't know
if you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Well, I was upstairs. I did not see your feel
the ghost. So I don't know if there is one.
Speaker 23 (01:06:04):
Yeah, yeah, but tables are really cool.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
But years ago I did talk to a ghost one.
Since we're coming into Halloween, I might as well tell
the story. There's a place the Colonial conquered in which
at one time, I during the Revolutionary War, I was
like a hospital and I think they had the morgue
inside that where the rooms are now where the inn is.
And we were doing a show. This back when my
(01:06:27):
father was doing the show. This had to be fifteen
years ago. And I knew the owner's name, and I've
never met him, but I just knew the name. So
I asked for him directly. And back then, that's before
we probably had caller ID anyways, So I asked for
Jurgen Demish. At the time, I don't know if he
still owns it, but he owned He owned the property.
And I was put on hold and there was no
(01:06:48):
music or anything, just a little tapping as I'm on hold,
and then I hear a soft voice saying hello, oh God.
So I started talking. There was nobody there. I never
told them us. I never told them because they didn't
know what I was talking about. I was just trying
to set up some interviews for the Halloween Show.
Speaker 23 (01:07:07):
But that's so funny, yeah, yep, yeah, No. Apparently apparently
the Viatabella has a ghost upstairs. All right, well it
comes down you know, you know are the big staircases
where you go up to tables up on top.
Speaker 14 (01:07:20):
Yep.
Speaker 23 (01:07:20):
The ghost apparently appears at the top of those stairs.
Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
So over well, I would say it would because that's
over the side part of the silo is there, and
on the second floor of the silo you can look
down and you could see the lounge downstairs. That's where
they keep the spirits, so they're probably rising right right, yeah,
oh dear, Yeah, but it's it's a great restaurant. It's
(01:07:45):
located on one thirty three called Viatabella Restaurant and I
just think it's just fantastic. So you do got a
great Italian restaurant now in Essex's it's not just fried
clams anymore. Right there you go, All right, Mary, thank
you very much for your phone call. Right, let's jump.
Oh we got some calls from York May and I
see Springfield. Let's go to Springfield and Chris next, Chris,
(01:08:05):
Welcome to Wicked Bites.
Speaker 20 (01:08:08):
Hey haw you today.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
I'm doing excellent, Chris.
Speaker 6 (01:08:11):
Good good.
Speaker 24 (01:08:12):
Yes, I moved out show years ago and coming back
to Mezzaluna down in Bourne Bus Bay.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 24 (01:08:22):
I just want to drive out and get the old
Taian restaurant going again. Probably get Chicken Palm today.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
I can you go wrong with Chicken Palm Reveal Park.
You just can't.
Speaker 18 (01:08:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:08:36):
But but tell me, tell me Mezzaluna. They're they're located
on Buzzard's Bay. Uh, They're they're open year round.
Speaker 24 (01:08:44):
Correct, Yes, they are there before the train bridge, but
before the rotary.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
Okay, all right, so I know where they are exactly.
Speaker 24 (01:08:52):
Now yep, yep, Yeah, moving out there. I've been to
like the Red Rose, but I'm gonna drive back now.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
So yeah, well that's a little bit of a ride
from Springfield, yes it is. Yeah, but if you're driving
back there, I have a feeling it's well worth it.
All right, Thank you, thank you Chris for your phone call.
It's Mezzaluna Restaurante at two fifty three Main Street on
Buzzard's Bay. All right, as promised. It's jump up the
(01:09:21):
York Main next and Jim, Jim welcome, Hi Scott, how
you doing excellent, Jim.
Speaker 25 (01:09:28):
Yeah, Scott. My favorite Italian restaurant is Tuscana's and they're
in West Pbdy, Mass.
Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
All right, tell me about them.
Speaker 25 (01:09:40):
Well, they have two locations in Pbdy. The one that
I go to is at three Bourbon Street in West
Pvty and that's right off of Lowell Street on the
Route one side, but Lowell Street goes all the way
over to one twenty eight to two. But yeah, my
(01:10:01):
favorite is Fruity de mari So I loved. I love
their Fruity de Marii And of course I eat a
lot of veal. Their veal, their veal is excellent, the
veal salt and Booker is just delicious. The veal Pacada,
their veal palm, of course is good. And everybody I've
ever spoke to they they they love their their eggplant
(01:10:25):
there so but great food. I've been going there for
twelve years and uh it's it's an easy stop for
us because we go into the North Shore a lot.
We go into Boston, So on the way back from Boston,
we can just pull off Route one and we're right
(01:10:45):
there on Oll Street and zip right over to the restaurant.
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
Oh, yeah, it makes it nice and easy. But you're saying,
have Descanto's has two locations.
Speaker 25 (01:10:55):
Yeah, they have. I haven't been to the new one.
They they have another restaurant. It's in Peabody. I I
don't know. I can't remember what the address is. I
think it's on Linfield Street. And then they have another
restaurant in in Beverly. I don't know if it's on
(01:11:17):
Cabot Street or the other main street there. And we
haven't been there. To the restaurant in Beverly. They the
owner used to ask me, do you haven't been to
Beverly yet? And I said, no, we don't get over
that way that much anymore. But yeah, you know, I'm
nuts so over fruity d ma, you know, with all
all the uh, all the seafood in it, and.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
I saus delight that for tomorrow.
Speaker 25 (01:11:44):
Oh it's unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:11:46):
You know.
Speaker 25 (01:11:47):
I love lobster. But if you said, well, what do
you want a lobster? Do you want frudy de Mario,
I'd say, well, I'll get the fruity Damari. I know
some people do put lobster in there fruity damary, but
I I'd actually rather have it without it, which may
sound crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
To all right, I don't blame you, all right, let
me tell everybody the particular so they go out and
try it. It's called Tuscana's Restaurant Day at three Bourbon

around one o'clock. And then two o'clock the Wicked Bytes
the meatball eating contests, and we're going to crown the
top meatball king at this year event right afterwards. And
it's all with votes that come in because you get
(01:14:38):
to try all six places and you vote for your
favorite and then we announce it at the end of
the event and give them the trophy. All right, it's
all today the Hollis Scrape and Wine Festival in Hollis,
New Hampshire. Back to the phone calls, we go looking
for your favorite Italian restaurant eight eight eight four three
four sixty four to sixty four. Let's go Teresa in
(01:14:59):
Wall fam Terrasa welcome. I'm sorry, Tricia, it says Tricia
Trician walfare, good.
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
Morning, Yes, Hi, good morning.
Speaker 13 (01:15:11):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
I can, I'm already on vacation. Mind.
Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
Very good.
Speaker 13 (01:15:18):
I would recommend Brabello R A D E.
Speaker 26 (01:15:22):
L L O.
Speaker 13 (01:15:24):
It's on one thirty six Belmont Street and Watertown. Okay,
we've gone there a few times. It's a small place,
so I would call and get reservations. But it's all homemade,
like pasta. And we've had chicken palm, We've had deal palm,
deal Amasala. We've gotten the oraccini and meatballs and the bushetta.
(01:15:52):
Even their fish was very good. One of my cousins
are palaa soul. It was excellent.
Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
And you say it's a small little hole in the wall.
Speaker 13 (01:16:01):
It's a very very small I don't know how many
people it holds, but it's a tiny place. But the
food is really scrumptious. As the pasta being homemade, it's
very good.
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
All right, I'm gonna have to check it out. I mean,
it had a caller earlier in the program too about
this place, and it sounds fantastic.
Speaker 13 (01:16:22):
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't hear that somebody else called.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
Earlier, somebody called it first time I heard about this restaurant,
and it just sounds like a great, great place.
Speaker 23 (01:16:32):
It is.
Speaker 13 (01:16:32):
It's very good. I you know, I've gone back twice
in the past few months, so obviously it's good. But
definitely you have to call for a reservation because it's tiny.
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Yeah, they have pumpkin ravioli right now on their menu.
I love pumpkin raviol It's done. If it's they just
mix it up with a couple of things and it's
perfect for me. I love that.
Speaker 13 (01:16:53):
I saw on the on the menu. I wouldn't eat it.
Speaker 23 (01:16:56):
Octopusent I was like, oh that's different.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
I've had a couple of times octopus. And it depends
how they do it. I want to say, there's a
place in Gloucester. Is it the Athenian I'm not sure
the exact name. They do an octopus there and if
they cut into smaller chunks right, and they have a
dipping sauce and it's excellent. But normally I normally I
(01:17:23):
I don't like to eat something that could hold onto
your tongue, right, you know what I mean? But but
it can't be it can be yeah, it could be.
It could be really really good, you know. Matter of fact,
Charlie Moore, the Mad Fisherman, he makes a really mad octopus.
He does a great job with that. Really Yeah. Ye okay, yeah,
(01:17:44):
so you'll you'll you'll have to eventually just try a
little bite. I guess that's the best way to do it,
all right. So let's tell everybody the recommendation that you have.
So people need to go out and try this place,
because it sounds like a place I want to go
in and try. The name of the place is Relabella.
Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
R A D L L H.
Speaker 20 (01:18:01):
It's great, Cambridge, got it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
Thank you very much for your phone call. Let's go
to Chris in Whitesfield, New Hampshire next. Chris, Welcome the
Wicked Bites. I'm Whitesville, Mass. I got I got the
wrong town, Whitesville, Mass.
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
Hey, Chris, Yeah, Whitonsville.
Speaker 6 (01:18:21):
Hey.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
How's it going, Scott? Very good, good to talk to you.
I I got a few things now since I've been
hearing people talk. Glenn Farmer Restaurant in Franklin is just
super fantastic. They make their own spirits and and if
i'm if I'm going for octopus, that is the place
I'm going. It's the best I've ever had.
Speaker 1 (01:18:40):
Yeah to me, I don't know if it's like a huge,
huge seller. You got to really like it. I think
we have it. And then you say, oh, this is
not what I thought it was going to be, and people.
Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
Really yes, yeah, yeah, it's true. And then, uh, we
have a standing date with another couple, my wife and
I on Friday nights, seven pm. We all get to
choose a different place every week. We'll evolve and you know,
no chains, it's got to be something local. And so
my friend has a great list of chicken palm You
(01:19:16):
were talking about chicken palm places, Yes, and his absolute
favorite is Brickstone in Sutton Mass on right on Route one.
Speaker 1 (01:19:27):
All right, I'm not familiar with Brickstones. It's in Sutton
mass Tell me a little bit about Bride's.
Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
Yeah, it's it's right on the highway if you're if
you're on the northbound side, you have to go down
and turn around in Nolbury in order to get back
on the on the southbound side, uh to to get
to Brickstones. But you know, he and he and my
other friend rave about that place for particularly chicken palm
(01:19:57):
he's got his list of top five or top ten.
But for me, my favorite restaurant, if I'm going for Italian,
I don't have to go to the North End in Boston.
I don't have to go to Atlozad. In Providence, we
are about fifteen twenty minutes from Lincoln, Rhode Island, and
it's Trotteria Romano. They just they have the best menu.
(01:20:21):
The prices are a little higher than we usually spend,
but for a pasta dish that I absolutely love, you know,
whether it's bowlon aise or lasagna or any of the
other pasta dishes, everything's fresh there, you know, it's it's
it's twenty two twenty five dollars, which is just great.
(01:20:41):
And so we went there for our anniversary this past
week and just super fantastic.
Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
Now I'm just looking at their information, Trotteria Romano, and
I happen to know, is that the same Lucianos that
owns Luciano's and rent them.
Speaker 3 (01:21:04):
I believe it is. Yeah, that's They've been around for
quite a long time. You know, came up from from
Providence and you know, came out of the city. And
that could be true.
Speaker 1 (01:21:16):
Yeah, no, because I know again, I have not been
to Trottoria Romano in Lincoln, but I have been to
Luciano's and it's just a fantastic, fantastic restaurant, has been
for many, many years.
Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
It really is. All their flavors are right on, you know.
The red sauce is perfect, the bolonaise is sophisticated, it's
it's got a lot of flavors going through it, and
it's just so rich and it's delicious. It's fantastic, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
So let me tell everybody it's Trotoria Romano and I
have them located at three Wake Robin Road in Lincoln,
Rhode Island. And the other place that you recommended, let
me give everybody that's Brickstones Kitchen at for Worcester Providence Turnpike.
That's Route one forty six south and Sutton mass Yes, sir,
(01:22:07):
got it. Great recommendations. Thank you very much Chris for
your phone call. I really it really is a great,
great recommendations. I love hearing about Italian food. Righty, can't
go wrong. We're going to talk with Maureen in just
a second. We got one lineup. We're just about out
of time because we're gonna do this till twelve, and
that's when the show ends, and we'd love to find
out your favorite Italian restaurant. The number to call is
(01:22:29):
eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
That's eight eight eight four three four sixty four sixty four.
Let me just quickly tell you about a great restaurant
that I had an opportunity to visit over the summer
and I just fell in love with it and it
kind of I mentioned this about a place that last
(01:22:51):
week on the show called good Night Johnny's and Berlin
how that place. S talked me and we had a
caller that they said they went there, and I was
absolutely right about it. They have a Sunday jazz brunch
that goes on a good Night Johnny Today for the
It's a live jazz broach. The food's outstanding, atmosphere is gorgeous.
But earlier in the summer, I had another place that
(01:23:12):
just surprised me, and I can't tell you why. Sometimes
they surprise me. Sometimes it's the atmosphere, but something different
and unique. And mcmorgan's Irish Pub and Restaurant and Sharon
on Route one. It was one of those places that
just kind of blew my mind. Today. The weather is
right right, it's not too far from the stadium, so
I have a feeling there's probably a lot of people
(01:23:33):
watching the game and enjoying their little brunch that's going
on right now, or sitting outside in their patio this afternoon.
They have a large, large patio that's separated by a
two story bar that is just custom built. That's the outside,
and the inside is just surprisingly gorgeous. When you walk
(01:23:55):
in that front door, it's like two stories tall, and
the first thing you see is memorabilia everywhere, every square
into the walls and of the ceiling, and then you
notice that they have this wrap around bar that has
to probably go for about seventy five feet or something
along that line, and it's just a great place just
(01:24:18):
to go see all this marmorabilia. And then you get
into the food. It's Italian. I mean, I'm sorry, it's Irish, yes,
but it's more Irish American, with a heavy influence on
American dishes. So you could get nachos and you could
have their iris nachos, which is their take on it.
You could get their ruben fish and chips. They got
a ruber that's excellent you know that's a little bit different, right.
(01:24:41):
You could get an Irish burger, you got a turkey burger.
You got to seafood casserole, you get bourbon steak tips.
They got everything. You're gotta be happy, you really will.
And their house favorite, believe it a is the chicken
broccoli Alfredo. That's one of their house favorites, along with
their classic Shepherd's Pie. It's called mcmorgan's Irish Pub and Restaurant.
(01:25:03):
It's located Root one in Sharon. When you go there,
you'll thank me. I just it's just so cool and
the food's just great. It really is. A lot of
regulars will go in there too. It's a large place,
so you get in there and really enjoy yourself. Mc
morgan's Irish Pub and Restaurant again, that is located in Sharon,
all right. Eight eight eight four three four sixty four
(01:25:26):
sixty four is the number. That's eight eight eight four
three four sixty four sixty four. Let's go to Raymond
and Maureen next. Maureen, welcome to the Wicked Bite. To
Scott Whitley, Oh.
Speaker 27 (01:25:36):
Hello, thank you, good morning, Yes, good morning. I just
want to tell you about Sabatinos in Wheatfield.
Speaker 1 (01:25:44):
Okay, Salabatinos. What makes them so special for you?
Speaker 27 (01:25:51):
Well, I love the egg plant in chicken palmesan.
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
Yeah, yeah, I get I love egg plant if it's
done right. And you're telling me Sabatinos is a place
to go for.
Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
That, yes, yeah, the one of Wakefield, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
The one in Wakefield. Yeah, I remember that. The first
time I had the most memorable eggplant ever was at
five North Square in Boston. Of course they closed down
about twenty years ago. But now you're saying Sabatino's is
definitely a place to go out and try it. Tell
me if you could describe a little bit of their
how they how they make their eggplant? Is it nice
(01:26:32):
and thin?
Speaker 27 (01:26:34):
Very thing?
Speaker 22 (01:26:34):
Yes?
Speaker 27 (01:26:35):
And and I at the combo, the combin combination point.
But yeah, they made it so good in the side
I wanted roasted potatoes. Yeah, and it was so it
was like delicious. I don't know, I haven't been to
the one in Jerry. I guess there's one in Gerry.
(01:26:56):
I haven't been to it, but.
Speaker 1 (01:26:58):
Yeah, I've that I don't know about, But I know
about Sabatinos in Wakefield. It gets plenty of recommendations I
have not been in, but everybody is always craved about it.
Speaker 23 (01:27:11):
Yes, it's very nice.
Speaker 27 (01:27:12):
And the people there are so nice. I mean they
were like, sand you want, you know, parmesan on your potatoes.
I'm like, oh.
Speaker 2 (01:27:21):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
Yeah, all right, So it's called so people go out
and try it. It's called Sabatinos. It's located at three
thirty Main Street in Wakefield. And Maureen, you're saying, go
in there and get the eggplant because it's going to
knock your socks off. Yeah, all right, all right, and
you know what, I want my socks to be knocked
off today, so maybe i'll maybe I'll run in there afterwards,
(01:27:42):
even though I'm on a diet, but I could be careful. Right,
That's all right, all right, Mauren, thank you for your
phone call. Great recommendation. Sabatinos and they are located again
at three thirty Main Street in Wakefield. All right, let
me take a break here. We're going to wrap things up.

Hey, welcome back everybody. This is Scott with Me and
this is Wicked Vice Radio every Sunday for ten between
ten and twelve noon. All Right, I got a winner.
I'm gonna announce Stein in just a second. For one
hundred dollars. I'm also looking at our Facebook page Wickabytes
TV up on Facebook. That's where we stream the Sunday
Morning radio show live. And Debbie wrote in she said,
(01:32:20):
we recently tried Pasta Amore in Amherst, New Hampshire on
Amherst Street at one O one, a wonderful Italian restaurant
and Italian food. She had the chicken marsala with homemade
pasta and the Italian salmon. I don't think I've ever
had Italian sam. She says it was grill to perfection.
(01:32:41):
They drove by this small red house type of a
restaurant for years and they never had an opportunity to
stop in there, but she wishes she did. Julie works
as a server on Sunday, so Julie will be in
there today. Excellent server and her recommendations were spot on.
Debbie highly highly recommends Pasta a Morey in Amherst, New Hampshire. Debbie,
(01:33:06):
thank you very much for typing that in on Wickabytes
TV on Facebook. Again. I stream the Sunday Morning radio
show there so people can see it the radio show
and you know, call in and participate there as well.
And if you miss any portion of the program, you
can always listen to the program afterwards at any time,
you know, tonight, tomorrow night, next week, whatever. Because not
(01:33:28):
only we hear all the recommendations from the callers on
today's program for best Italian. In addition to that, I
also tag the locations the restaurants they get recommended. That
way you click on and get more information that way,
All right, wickabytes TV on Facebook. The Phoenician Restaurant. You
want some great, great prime rib, go see Passam at
the Phoenician Restaurant in Heyro. They have it. They're looking
(01:33:50):
at Route one to ten, by the way twelve out
for street. They just don't make prime rib, you know,
one or two days a week. They do it every
day that they are open. It's their top selling dish.
It's so wonderful without OJU sauce. It's slow roasted too.
It's just excellent, and they serve it with your choice offer.
(01:34:10):
You get the choice of two different things. I always
get the same thing, so I can't tell you what
the other choices are. All I could tell you is
I get the Syrium bread and salad and their phenomenal
handcut fries that are out of this world ed. They
also have a lobster that's baked stuff with the Phoenicians
famous walnut stuff and boys that good. It is just
(01:34:31):
so so good. Matter of fact, part of their recipe.
I during COVID for their their their walnut stuff in
which they also do on their bake stuff for that's
my wife's favorite dish. There. During COVID, they had a
lot of problems getting some of the ingredients for that,
and a local supermarket. I knew that they're having problems
(01:34:53):
and they would call them and say, look, we just
got some in. So they were able to keep keep
it up during that whole COVID period. That's how popular
that their Phoenician wallet stuff. It is so go in
and try it. Save room for dessert. Yeah, you won't
be able to, but try. They have baked Alaska and
they use Richardson's ice cream. The Phoenician Restaurant Route one
ten twelve Oupha Street in Hayrold, just off a Root
(01:35:14):
four ninety five. Another place where great pastries and desserts,
of course is Josie's Bakery and the Crossford Shopping Plaza
in Wilmington. That's Ricklow's place. This is an old school
bakery with a modern twist. They specialize in hand homemade
I should say hand end homemade I guess, desserts and pastries.
They use quality ingredients that's why everything is just so
(01:35:34):
so good there. And their recipes are generational type recipes.
They have phenomenal cookies from peanut butter, which is my favorite,
right too, how about a warm chocolate chip cookie. Yeah,
they got it all. They have pastries from lobster tails
to croissants and canola scones and apple frus and so
much more, and cupcakes and boy, their cakes are nothing
(01:35:57):
short of a miracle. They're so good. Yeah. Josie's Bakery
Crossroad Shopping Plaza in Wilmington. All right, as mentioned, I'm
going to be in Hollis, New Hampshire. I'm gonna leave
here in just a few moments. There's a big Italian
and Greek grape festival. It's put on by Freshino Vineyards.
So they actually you could stop grapes there with your feet,
(01:36:18):
just like I love Lucy. They're going to bring one
of those tubs in so you can do that. But
it's an Italian festival. They had one of the top
singers as far as I'm concerned of Italian music. They
fly him in for this event. He'll be entertaining you,
along with Dave Russo's a comedian, the folks from the Sopranos,
a couple of them will be there as well. And
at two o'clock from two to four today, Wicked Bites,
(01:36:41):
we're hosting the Big Meatball eating contest and we're going
to crown the big Meatball right afterwards. And it's all
I think about four or five hundred people tried these
six restaurants and these some of them are new this
year to it, and they all voted. So they tried
all six meatballs and they voted right, and we crowned
the winner. And we're gonna do that today as well.
(01:37:03):
All right, So that's all coming up in Hollis, New Hampshire,
right there in their monument park. It all starts in
about two minutes from right now, and then again the
meat bullion contest comes up at two pm. Right I'll
be there. Diane of west Roxbury, Congratulations, you're our grand
prize winner of one hundred dollars for calling in today,
(01:37:24):
so we'll mail that out to you. Diana west Roxbury's
congratulations all right. That's gonna do it for me again.
Next Sunday, I'm on vacation the Best of show I
know you're gonna love. It's loaded with phone calls. All right,
don't forget television show Saturday mornings to day thirty and
Sunday nights at ten pm. All right, that will do
it for me. See you in Hollis, New Hampshire at
the Great Festival. Bye bye.
