Each week, The Admit One Podcast will talk to a student that has successfully navigated the college admissions process and earned their ticket to college. Hosted by Jamie Moynihan, the Managing Director of AcceptU and College Impact, we’ll reflect on the student’s profile, which will include discussion around their academic record, extracurricular activities and application strategies.
In episode 15 Jamie interviews Punarvash, who is attending Rice University. Punarvash details his passion for upcycling and his extensive volunteer work. Punarvash pursued a rigorous curriculum within a competitive high school environment, which has led to his interest in studying Sports Medicine and Physiology in college.
In Episode 14 Lewis discusses how he created the Massachusetts High School Chess League and what he learned while spending summers reading math books such as the Art of Problem Solving: Volume 1. Jamie learns about Lewis' volunteer efforts and his unique research projects which made him a successful application to Harvard.
In episode 13, Muna details her work across many fields throughout high school. We learn how her leadership enabled her Robotics team to success at the 2023 World Championships, her extensive internship with the Council of Islamic-Relations and her role as President of the Black Student Union. Jamie assesses Muna's UC personal insight questions, and they discuss her approach toward her application.
In episode 12 Jamie discusses the robust curriculum that Aanya participated in throughout high school. Aanya details her interest in the environment and how she engaged in diverse research work. We review her essays and discuss what made them so successful.
In the season two premier, Jamie meets with Rita who has recently been admitted to the University of Pennsylvania. Rita discusses how she combined her love of music and interest in medicine. Rita gives great insight into how she was able to develop her own research throughout high school and how she leveraged those experiences in her college application.
In episode 10 we learn how Saumya navigated the IB program, her volunteer work with Children's International Summer Village, and how she ended up enrolling at NYU.
In Episode 9, Ojas discusses his intense pursuit of research throughout high school, which led to him being selected to receive an MIT Think grant. Ojas and Jamie discuss the development of unique elements of his profile which include surprising success as a football player during his senior year!
In Episode 8, Laila discusses how she approached her application to Vanderbilt University, where she was awarded a full tuition scholarship as a Chancellor Scholar. Laila details the political activism work that she conducted throughout high school which made her an elite applicant to college.
In episode 7, Sasha discusses how he established a uniquely intensive curriculum which helped him stand out amongst his peers. We review the essays and extracurricular activities that made him a successful applicant to Cornell University.
In episode six, Sara discusses her application journey and how she landed at Scripps College. We discuss what made her a successful applicant and how she decided that Scripps and the Claremont Colleges were the best option for her!
