(06:03):
Well, Miss Laurie Swannagun is back. Good morning, Laurie, good
morning, good morning, good morning. I am so glad to be back
in the house. May be backin the house, sister. That's to
give us the good news and thebad news and in between news. It's
all good bad, it's all good. How you been doing, Laurie,

(06:24):
been doing well. We're getting readyfor this season that's coming up, and
you know, our members know, they know what's going on. It's getting
ready to be something exciting. BellSo I can't wait to get back here
on Monday, huh, and tellyou some good news. Well, because
this is the season. This isit, this is the season. But

(06:44):
before we talk about some of thethings that's going on with the Benefits Solutions
Group, Laurie, tell our listenersexactly what is the Benefits Solutions Group,
The Benefit Solutions Group, Bath,I'm so glad you asked. The Benefit
Solutions Group is your local brokers, your local insurance agents. We are licensed

(07:06):
agents. We are your local resource, your community resource, and we want
to do you well, you know, we want to come out to your
homes. We want to talk aboutyour Medicare advantage options, we want to
talk about, you know, ifit's life insurance that you need. But
but primarily because of what's coming up, we want to talk about where you

(07:27):
stand with that red, white andblue card. Bas So your local resource.
Were community of brokers. We writefor all major carriers. So when
we come and talk to you todo the needs assessment, there is no
wavering and we're not trying to pushyou towards anything other than meeting you where
you are and giving you an educationabout that red, white and blue card.

(07:49):
So we're your brokers, were yourlocal agents, and we are the
community Resource based or should I throwthem a number out there already? Come
on, throw that number out sopeople can start calling. Yes, call
this number right now because I've gotsome good news coming up, and you
know how it works. We can'ttalk about it until October the first,
but I want you to be thefirst to know, so y'all start making

(08:11):
those calls getting appointments with our agents. We are locked and loaded. We're
ready to get out and help you. And I'm telling you now, this
news right here is gonna blow youaway. So call the number at ninety
one four five three six three foursix again, that's nine oh one four
five three six three four six.Or walk into the office. So we're

(08:35):
downtown on five twenty on Main Streetat five twenty five North Main Street,
five two five North Maine. Socome on in and walk on in there.
It's in that old old greyhound busstation. It's got a big greyhound
on the front of it, andit's got insurance in the window. So

(08:56):
yeah, catch us in the office, or call us nine O one four
or five three six three four sixth. This is the time and I'm seeing
more and more advertisements. Laurie ontelevision talking about benefits. And I guess
as you say, we we weare the September and I was telling Laurie,

(09:16):
September is out this week. Yes, God, September thirtieth is on
Saturday. That's the last day.And so we're in October. We're already
in fall because officially falls started onSaturday. But now is the time,
Laurie, that people need to bethinking about, yes, their benefits and

(09:37):
what's going on. And especially Laurie, especially today, want you talk to
the people who are new who havejust gotten their red, white and blue
card. Yes, it's critical thatyou call me. Let me tell you
why, because seniors really, reallyreally don't have a grasp. In fact,
no one does because that information thatthey send to the mail. Your

(10:01):
daughter can't decipher it. Your soncan't decipher it. Your sister, even
if she has a plan, can'tdecipher it because it's by designed, by
designed, they send that information outand it's so confusing unless you're an insurance
agent. So you really need someonethat's going to give you an education,
which is what we're about to doon BEB Show. And I just love

(10:22):
you so much, Bet, thankyou for this opportunity. But I want
everybody under the sound of my voice. You need to get grab your pencil
and paper so that when we getto that part you can take notes.
But Beth, you know I gotto start to show out with this one,
all right. Started out, sister, don't call the TV. Don't

(10:45):
call the TV unless you don't seeme say that. When I see those
things on TV. I just Ijust laughed to myself. I said,
Laurie said, don't call it TV. Call the person that's right here in
this city. That's right. Listen, We've we've had some exciting things that
are coming up. And I tellyou what. I had a client just

(11:05):
uh Friday BEV who she saw thatadvertisement on television. She called in.
She didn't give them her Medicare number. I don't know how they got it,
but they sent her a confirmation whenshe got off the phone, saying,
welcome to your new plan. Whatit's a plan that doesn't it's not.
It was a scam. Okay, she got scammed that fast. So

(11:28):
listen when they call, tell thesefolks you already have an agent and her
name is Laurie Swanagan with the BenefitsSolutions Group. So don't call in because
it's hard to back out of it. You know, once you're talking to
them, you probably don't even havea clue that they've already gotten your Medicare
information and all they're doing is verifyingyour address, and you know they kind

(11:50):
of take it from there, whichis so unfair to our seniors. And
listen, I know you've been burntbefore. I know that there are so
many scams out there, which iswhy I'm on this show every single month.
This is an investment into our community. Because listen, when my agents
sit before you, they are veryskilled. We write for every company,

(12:13):
so we know what's out there inthe market. Do yourself a favor today.
Write the number down when the whenopen enrollment starts. You know it's
October the fifteenth, but October thefirst, which is when you'll hear my
voice again. We can actually starttelling you about the good news, all
the great benefits that are coming out. So do yourself a favor. Take

(12:35):
the number down and schedule an appointmentto have a discussion with one of my
agents. Hey, we're not tryingto sign you up for planning. If
you're fine where you are, we'regonna leave you where you are. Because
I don't want to feel the raftof path Johnson. You right, Glory,
You're absolutely correct, But the lordgo back. And because one of

(13:01):
the things on the show that Ishare information with Laura is I have the
Shelby County Trustee on every month tellingus wallet warnings about scams. Yes,
she always talks about the scams. But when you just mentioned that scams,
there are people out there who arescamming folks about their benefits. And one
of the things you just said,Laura is when they scam, they'll they'll

(13:22):
get their Social Security number, theirinformation and they can use it for some
other things. Yes. Yes,So it seems like this year, Bev,
the scams have picked up, like, yeah, they are in overload.
Uh. And it's impact in ourcommunity, and it's making me angry
because, uh, it's it's hardnow, you know, when you get

(13:43):
in these other plans. I'm oneof my clients called and she's probably listening.
So she called and she said,Laura, they've already taken a hundred
and something our dollars out of myaccount. I don't know how to reverse
it. And as fast as wewere trying to fix it, they had
already taking the money now she gotit back. But I'm telling you you
have to limit the amount of informationthat you share with people over the telephone.

(14:09):
Yes, if you really don't knowif they're who they say they are.
Yes. And let me tell youanother thing, Beba, you mentioned
the Shelby kind of trustee. Hey, I respect those folks, but listen,
if you have not taken the amountof classes that we've taken, you've
not gotten the license. Yes.If you have not, you know,
been through the process as an insuranceagent, you're not an expert on it.

(14:35):
And so when you hear people saythat Medicare advantage parts C or you
know D, that's not a partof Medicare, that is nothing further from
the truth. There are four partsto Medicare, and I know we'll get
into that bed, yeah, butI definitely want to clear the air before
October the first starts. I wantto talk about ABC and D. We
usually do that every time. Itis critical that we do. Yeah,

(14:58):
because t thousand people age into Medicareevery single day, ten thousand a day,
and so we've got to get theword out, y'all. We've got
some people who have fallen in thatgroove. And I talked about this BEV
earlier on about the fourteen million peoplethat would be impacted with medicaid losing their
Medicaid. I've had two seniors justlast week who had fallen into that pit

(15:24):
hole. And so if you havegotten again, if you've gotten those envelopes
at your homes, don't don't brushthis stuff off. You know you've got
to call and get some assistance. You gotta call us called nine oh one
four five three six three four six, and just you need to see if
I'm on if I'm on the list, because it's fourteen million people were impacted,

(15:46):
and I'm already getting calls from peoplefrom Shelby County over in Mississippi.
I've helped at least five people inMississippi Arkansas, which is where I'm from.
I want to help you all,but we can't help you if you
don't make the call. And asmuch as this TV is ringing, if
you can call into that TV,certainly surely you can call your local agent

(16:10):
and your local agency, which isthe Benefit Solutions Group. I want to
hear from you. Yeah, andLaurie. One of the things that when
you talk about the scams and peoplecalling and a lot of the seniors who
they don't know. They're just oneof the things that you always talk about.
You get the information in the mailand people really don't read it.

(16:32):
They'll throw it out. So ifyou don't know, if you don't read
it, then and that tends topeople when they answer phone, so they'll
just go with the person answer talkingon the telephone too, because they don't
want to look at the information. But it's so you always talk about it's
so important because you get the informationin the mail. Just when you see
it, think it's junk. Yeah, try to look at it or get

(16:55):
somebody to read mail. Yes,critical, we will come out and read
the information for you if you wantto take a photo of it and send
it to us. If you know, I know, COVID is itching back
up on us. You may notwant anyone in your home, but we
can meet you out at a McDonald's. You can come to the office.
There are so many ways that wecan assist you. And we can actually

(17:18):
even get you on a three waycall with the the federal government, the
folks who are helping assist with thisrenewal notice. But you've got to make
the call, and you know, what you need to make the call to
someone that you can trust, someonewho has been embedded in this community all
along. You can't come with theJohnny come latelies. As a matter of

(17:38):
fact, that if I talked toa potential client on Saturday and she said,
hey, we we we were desperateU to find out some information,
she's I don't listen to the radiothat much. I'll start now, But
she said, we had a guyout of Atlanta and he was setting up
in the libraries. Y'all, youhave local agents here in Memphis, Tennessee.

(18:03):
You don't have to trust those folksthat are gonna swing through Memphis and
back out and then after ap youwon't even know their names. So do
me a favor. Call the BenefitSolutions Group. We want to make that
a household name because I can.I can rest on that knowing that I
have helped you, knowing that Ihave given you accurate information, because that's

(18:23):
what it's all about, accurate information. Not just getting information, but making
sure it's accurate. And you havesome increases coming up, and you have
some other things that are coming offsetthat. So yeah, let's we're definitely
gonna talk to you on Monday, about those the new things coming in.
Yes, so let's talk right now, Laurie, to those folks who just

(18:49):
received the red, white and bluecard and so and so. Yeah,
well you know what, Laury,I like it, you said, because
people think it when you get thered, white and blue card. Cause
I'm old. Now, I'm old, I'm old. I got this old
lord. What am I going todo? But talk to us about getting

(19:12):
the red, white and blue card? And what does that mean? Because
some people think when they got it, oh, I got free healthcare.
I don't have to pay anything.Yeah. Yeah, Okay, let's let's
let's cause we let's let's start inthe beginning. Four. Okay for y'all
out there who just got, yes, the red, white and blue card.

(19:32):
So that's meta care. Huh,Medicare care. Man got care because
there's a Medicare and a Medicaid. That's correct. Okay, all right,
I'm learning. I'm learning, Lurid, So talk to us about safe answers.
I just got my red white andblue card, Laurie, So what
is this about? Okay, herewe go. So first of all,

(19:56):
and and I don't say this muchbecause I think you know, when you
see the red white and blue card. You know, you automatically know that
that's your Medicare card. But itis a paper card. It's paper,
and so it's gonna be in withall the other information it's coming from the
Social Security Administration. Some people havebeen throwing their paper cards away because they
think that they have a laminated cardcoming. No, your Medicare card is

(20:21):
a paper card. That's the firstthing. You're not going to get a
laminated card. No, okay, and you really are not supposed to laminate
it either. I've seen some laminatedMedicare cards. But here's so let's get
started with the skinny of it.So your Part A. So if you
get your card out, you shouldsee Part A and B on it.
And by the way, when youget that paper card in the mail,

(20:44):
they're going to give you an optionas to whether or not you would like
to have Part B. That isan absolute yes. That's a hard yes.
Let me tell you why, becauseif they're gonna give you an option
to have it, but if youdon't get it, guess what lifetime penalty?

(21:06):
So you want to select Part B. So some seniors will say I
can't afford it because of course yourpart B has a premium of one sixty
four ninety. But listen, ma'amand sir, you can't afford not to
have it. You have to haveit. So let's go back to A.
Okay, A is part A,and on your A it has hospital

(21:30):
that you have the word hospital rightout beside Part A. So hospital leads
a lot of seniors to believe thattheir entire hospital bills are covered. Nothing
further from the truth be of yourPart A actually comes with first something called
a deductible. A deductible is whatyou will pay out of your pocket before

(21:55):
anything pays anything, before any system, the federal government, for any plan
will pay anything. You're going tobe responsible for sixteen hundred dollars in a
deductible for Part A. So justwrite that down Part A hospital sixteen hundred
dollars deductible. Okay, Part Ais not going to cover your entire hospital

(22:18):
bill. A. Part A essentiallycovers room and board while you're in the
hospital. Now, it covers afew other little insulary things like you know,
long term care, skill, nursing, uh, it covers some labs,
but essentially Part A what it meansfor you is room and board.

(22:40):
And it has a sixteen hundred dollarsdeductible. Okay, now let's go on
a Part B. So it leaveyour sixteen hundred doll Part B has its
own deductible. And remember we saida deductible. It's what you're gonna pay
out a pocket before anybody helps you. So now Part B is deductible.
It's two hundred and twenty six dollars. And if you want to check my

(23:02):
numbers, go to medicare dot govand check my numbers for accuracy. So
your Part B deductible is two hundredand twenty six dollars. So now you're
already looking at your sixteen hundred plustwo twenty six. That is eighteen hundred
and twenty six dollars out of yourpocket for just parts A and B.

(23:26):
Then your Part B is going tohave a premium of one sixty four ninety
and by the way, that premiumis increasing for twenty twenty four, So
that's gonna be some news on Monday, so stay tuned. So then you
got a premium up that's every month, and you have to you need to
get that now. Why because thehere is the number one hidden objection bell.

(23:49):
Why after all the years that Iworked. Do I have to pay
Yeah for this Part B premium onesixty four ninety. It's because Part B,
not A and B, but PartB is the thing that covers eighty
percent of your healthcare eighty percent. And so if you get a hospital bill
that's one hundred thousand dollars, guesswho's paying the eighty thousand dollars? Your

(24:15):
Part B. Good, that's whyyou have to pay the deductible. Okay,
but Part BEAT, that's why youhave to pay the premium for Part
B. So that's what your PartB is covering. That's what that one
sixty four ninety is covering. Eightypercent of anything that happens to you in
terms of your healthcare hospital you know, eighty percent. So then Part B

(24:37):
has the penalty. So if yousign up when you're sixty five, when
you turn sixty five, you getthat red, white, and blue card
bill, you need to sign upimmediately. Don't take a day, don't
take a week, sign up immediatelyafter your Part BEAT. Guess what so
Part B, if it's covering eightywhat's left out there bath twenty? So

(25:02):
who's going to cover the twenty percent? Now, this is the thing ba
of and you may want to goto a commercial break on this or okay,
okay, okay, okay, okay, Well you know what you're right,
Laurie, So I'll take cause Iso you want to get into this,
We're gonna take a commercial break. This is great information, especially for
those who you all congratulations, youhave your red, white and blue card.

(25:25):
Laurie Swannagun is here. She's theCEO of the Benefits Solutions Group.
She is giving us information on whatyou need to know with your red,
white and blue card. If youhave a question for Laurie this day,
we do invite you to call ninezero one by three five nine three four

(25:51):
two. That's nine zero one fivethree five nine three four two. You're
listening to the Bev Johnson Show onBEB on w d I A great information,

(26:26):
good conversation and most certainly entertaining onthe Bev Johnson Show only on w
d i A. Twenty five years. W d I A has been the

(26:48):
musical fabric of Memphis, Hi.This is evelent moral. My first job
in Memphis, Tennessee was a radioaccount executive with w d i A.
In nineteen eighty six. W dI A will always and forever be my
good will station with the good timesrolling a m ten seventy w d I.

(27:12):
We're still your station of goodwill andgood times, celebrating seventy five years
on the radio, ten seventy wd I A over the town working on
to bring you Mondays never sevening forever day off the par friend and good

(27:51):
morning and welcome back. We aretalking with the CEO of the Benefit Solutions
Group, Lori Swana gun is inthe house. We are talking about your
little red, white and blue cardand Laurie. We are going to go
to our telephone lines to talk tosome of our listeners who may have questions
for you. Good morning, Beverly, good morning, Beam, good morning,

(28:15):
how are you fine? Good morning, Major, good morning, Thank
you for calling. All right, thank you for being there. I know
that it's getting ready, getting readyto be open in roll and time.
Well and all this different information iswant to be coming forth from all these

(28:36):
different healthcare plans and company and medicareis confusing enough. Publish self, yes,
ma'am. And when you know allthese different companies coming as you're saying,
they offer you this and offer youthat, and you know different things.
You know, it's it's overwhelming, especially the singers, and that's the
majority of people who are getting medicare. But one of the things that I

(29:03):
want to emphasize that you brought outand I a lot the way you were
explaining things, because a lot ofpeople do not understand the difference between medicare
that red white, blue cars, what it means, what it covers,
and you explaining about the Part Aand the part BE. But I don't
know if you mentioned that Part Bis vital. You cannot afford not to

(29:27):
have it. That's exactly what Isaid, Yes, right, And that's
but that premium that that's a monthin the premium. It comes out of
your social Security check that you getevery mom. But one of the things
my mom bless the hard rest hersoul. She knew how to work the

(29:49):
telephone. When she got to thatage about the party age, the party
be Medicare. She calls around. She told people, she said, I
cannot afford so you always take anythingout of my Social Security check because I
don't get enough as it is.I just can't afford it. I need

(30:11):
some help. And she uh wasaged to get into some program I cannot
remember. That's that's what it is. I don't know if the pial be
or what it was. Yes,some Cabram they paid cost Medicare a party
premium every month excellent for many years. I mean she passed away at eighty

(30:33):
nine, so from sixty five toeighty nine she was able to get help
to pay her Medicare apart be becauseit's vital. I mean, as you
explained, the party eighty just coverligedlike your hospital stay and stuff. But
the part be that's also coverages, coverliged like your doctor business and things like

(30:55):
that. That's my correct correct.Thank you for that. Yeah, okay,
So I mean, more than anything, a lot of people, especially
when you're helpingly, you want tobe having a lot of doctor visits.
And then to that sort you mayneed some girl of medically equipment silchid walkers,
and then to that sort that's what'scovered under your Medicare party. It's

(31:18):
a lot because it under that markMedicare part be. That's why you cannot
afford not to have it. Sothank you for that. Beverly. I
need to talk with you. Youyou understand this thing well from experience and
I saw from helping my mother andfrom reading up on it, you know,
so I like, you know yourexplanation and you're explaining things and you're

(31:41):
coming out to bare show and talkingto people trying to help, you know,
because elderly people they need to help. They don't understand all this looking
a war about medicare. So Ijust wanted to, you know, put
that in. But I wish Icould remember the name of the place where
they gave my mom a systems ofthe take home medicare part be cringing every

(32:02):
month. It is a quimb am. I right, that's all. That's
exactly right. And I was actuallygoing to talk about the levels of Medicaid.
So Q and B is a Medicaidlevel, and I'll tell you about
the four levels. Yes, ma'am, that's great, Okay, I'll right.
Dude, Well, I'm sorry Ididn't need to get ahead of you.
Oh no, that's excellent, that'sgood. Thank you for thinking.

(32:25):
I'm thinking about my mom being ableto get that help because a lot of
people they don't get big Social Securitychecks. And then you got a hundred
and sixty some dollars coming out ofit every month, does it duces your
income? You're ella's supposed to getsome help, you need to go for
it. So you're spread that outto the people, and that's to come

(32:49):
along with all the information that yougive them. Thank you, Beverly,
Bye bye, w D I Ahey caller, Good morning, good morning.
How are you. I'm doing fine. I'm going fine, real good
show this morning, Bill. Thisis big Dog. Hey, big dog,
Thank you, big dog. Yes, uh look at here. I'm

(33:12):
I'm on A, B and C, and I want information about D.
I get taking care of real goodbecause I'm I'm on disability, so security
Okay, so it's a little andI'm not six. I mean I'm not
I'm fifty eight years old. Putit that way. So I've been on

(33:34):
disability for about five years now becauseI'm blind, and but I wanted more
information about the D part. Wow, I'm I'm glad you asked the question,
because just like B, if youdon't get B when you're supposed to,
you're gonna have a lifetime penalty. You will have a lifetime penalty with

(33:55):
D as in David D for drugsas well. So we definitely got to
talk to you. We have totalk with you. Yeah, and you
may have it and you just don'tknow it. We'll look in the system
and see you have well, keepyou sit doing because I have a mirror
group. Okay, you do haveD. You have D. Oh I
do Yep, you have C andD. But we definitely need Okay,

(34:19):
wonderful, we want to do areview of your so, big dog,
what Laurie is saying, if youcall that off their office, they can
do a review to let you knowwhat you have and what you can use.
Yes, okay, I'm about tohave my wife write down this number
now for me. Okay, onceyou give it back out sounds good,
big dog. I hope you're doingwell, a big dog. Good hearing

(34:44):
from right. I'll see you sad. Okay, big dog, I see
your brother all right, all right, bye bye bye bye bye bye.
So, Laurie, let's talk aboutthe four parts you want to talk but
before we did it, yeah,go on. So the twenty percent is

(35:05):
critical, and Miss Beverly, thankyou for that information. It's so refreshing
to know that some of us dohave the information. So part b uh,
the penalty is a lifetime the thepremium is one sixty four ninety and
yes, the durable medical equipment isa part of UH. The coverage for
Part B, which is another reasonwhy you're gonna pay the one sixty four

(35:28):
ninety. I don't necessarily get intoindividual individual benefits because that's something that we
share with you. You know whenyou call in are coming to the office.
But that's a good adding in forPart B. Also with Part B,
UH it is doctors, it hashospital, and it has medical on
your card. That's deceptive because medicaldoesn't necessarily mean doctors, but it does

(35:51):
in this case. It includes doctor'svisits. But all of these things are
at a percentage because Part B iswhat eighty percent, so that's what we
have to remember. Then there's anothertwenty percent that comes in there. Now
here's the thing. Let me letme help you get some information here with
your Part B. So that's exactlywhat we do. We get you into

(36:16):
every program that we can that helpsyou with Part B. It's through the
Social Security Administration. There are notricks to this. UH doesn't have anything
to do with your zip code. You can be living in in Germantown and
qualify for Part B. Part Bis an absolute income qualifier, So don't

(36:37):
let TV trick you with calling inif you're in a certain zip code,
that's a scam. And that's thatstuff keeps me on the ball show.
Yeah, it does, because itjust gets all over me when they say
it's based on your zip code.I've helped a lot of people all over
this state, all over the country. So listen, call us so we

(37:01):
can look into the system to seewhat you have and see what you qualify
for. So then, Bab,let's talk about those programs. Okay,
let's talk about that number Medica rightnow. Okay, the number is nine
zero one four five three six threefour six. Agents are standing by now
to help you to answer your questions. It's, you know, rapid response,

(37:24):
that's what we have. We've putsomething in place to manage the influx
of calls. And I'm just excitedabout it and i want to try that
thing out. So yeah, startcalling making your appointments now. It could
cost you everything if you don't.I want these seniors to get this information,
Bab, because it is so criticaland so the most critical thing to

(37:46):
me is right between B and C. Just like the gentleman didn't realize that
he had D so with the Medicareadvantage plans, it comes with D.
It's a C and D combo.It's an m APD Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug
plan. So that's the thing. When you get these plans, you need

(38:07):
to have someone that's going to bepatient enough to go line by line on
what you're gonna be getting with theseplans. Your Part B that covers the
eighty percent, guess what happens withyour Medicare Advantage plan. It's gonna kick
in with the twenty percent. Sonow listen, your Medicare Advantage plan doesn't

(38:28):
cover everything, so it's twenty percentwith copays. You can qualify for your
C and D only. Listen tome only if you have A and B,
because we've had a lot of peoplecall in that may have A only
or B only, and I'll tellyou what to do if you have A

(38:49):
only. If you have A only, you can still get your Part B.
But listen, you need to writethis down. This is critical.
People believe that they can sign upfor Part B any time of the year.
Quite the contrary. Part B hasits own election period, It has
its own sign up dates January firstthrough March thirty first. If you don't

(39:14):
get Part B, when you qualifyfor it when it comes back around in
January. You can. But justthink about that person who realizes, oh
my god, I need Part Bbecause I'm getting eaten up with medical bills.
They won't be able to apply. We just had a few of them
last week. You will not beable to apply for Part B until January

(39:37):
the first through Mark thirty first. So if you're the person that has A
only, you need to apply inJanuary. Now, if you're the person
that has B only, Oh andlet me see how you qualify for a
forty quarters. You have to workfor ten years or forty quarters. As
a matter of fact, that's howthe Social Security aligns itself with the forty

(39:59):
quarters just ten years, because peoplecan believe, hey, I worked for
ten years and then you miss thisweek, you are all six months.
You got laid off eight months. The Social Security Administration is the only person
that can tell you whether or notyou have worked your forty quarters. So
make sure you're in touch with theSocial Security Administration. Make sure that you

(40:22):
get online. You can actually getonline, or go into the building.
You know really bad with stuff likethis. I like to go in person
and talk about this type of businessbecause it's so critical. But make sure
you're in touch with Social Security. They can tell you how much you're gonna
be getting when you age into Medicare. They can tell you everything about it.
So now let's talk about I almostsaid any questions. I'm a teacher,

(40:46):
But so let's talk about the levelsof Medicaid. Because your friend might
be getting everything paid for right therein terms of their healthcare. But then
you say, hey, she makesmore money than me. Well, because
you haven't applied, or you haven'thad an agent to take the time to
apply to the right places. Youdon't just call a TV and say,

(41:08):
hey, sign me up for Medicaid. This stuff is federally managed through the
Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services. This you know, these plans are not
even the people that sign you upfor Medicaid. It's agents like me and
my team that will go the extrastep to get you to the right place
for Medicaid if you qualify. Nowlet's talk about Medicaid. Listen, it's

(41:32):
an income based qualification. It's nota trick of the finger. It's not
because you're Q, it's not becauseyou live in a certain zip Code's income
based So here's and I won't givethe specific levels out because you can actually
look that up on Medicare dot gov. And I don't want to belabor it,

(41:52):
but the Q and B if youwhen you start with when I start
with FBD, so there's a designationand it's called f B d E Frank
Boy David Echo. So FBDE isthe highest level of Medicaid. It is
because you are three hundred, fourhundred, even six hundred percent under the

(42:15):
poverty level. So your income isprobably nine hundred dollars per month. And
when I say income, is notthat you're working a job. It's whatever
you get inside of your home intoyour bank account. So that could be
a Social Security check, it couldbe your VA check, but whatever that
is, it's probably nine hundred dollarsor a thousand dollars or less. That's

(42:38):
your FBDE. And so that's afull benefits dual eligible Let me say that
again, so you can write thatdown full benefits dual eligible person. That
person is probably not going to payanything for their healthcare or their meds.
Now, let's get to they QM B. Everybody knows about this Q

(43:01):
ANDB person. The Q and Bperson has a pink card. You're gonna
have a pink card. That cardis gonna have your Q ANDB number on
it, and that person. Ifthe FBD E person is I'm just saying
a number seven hundred percent under thepoverty level, then the Q and B
person is probably five hundred percent underthe poverty level. So that is an

(43:22):
income qualifying event as well. Sothat Q ANDB, they're just like the
fbd EBEV and they're gonna get healthcarezero and their mad's are probably gonna be
zero. So those are the onlytwo because then right under a Q ANDB
is probably this person that makes twelvehundred dollars or less, and that person

(43:46):
is going to get their Part Bpremiums paid. So you're gonna get some
help with your prescription drugs with allof your levels of Medicaid, and you're
gonna get with a slim B,which is a specified low Medicare beneficiary.
That's a specified low income Medicare beneficiary. So that's a slim BE. That's

(44:07):
the person that's going to get theirPart B premium paid. And you will
not know unless you get Part B. So I can't stress enough how much
you have to have Part BE asa boy, you have to get Part
B in order to have guess whatparts C and D and so right under

(44:32):
a slim be which is gonna gettheir Part B premium paid and gonna get
some help with their prescription drugs. Is a Q one that is a qualified
individual. Now with all of thesedesignations, you're going to get assistance from
the federal government. You're gonna getassistance from Medicaid. Medicare is a federally

(44:55):
funded program. MEDICAIDBEV is a primarilya state funded program. Like you'll hear
on you know, they're running asnow saying this person didn't vote to expand
our medicaid. See, the governmentallows specific states to do what they kind

(45:15):
of want to do with Medicaid, right, but the federal government says that
every person is entitled that is workedforty quarters to Part A and every person
they won't it's paying for Part B, is entitled to Part B. But
then when you talk about Medicaid, that's when the states coming in and say
you can have it or not,we can extend it. They determine what

(45:37):
the threshold is and everything. Soyou got four levels of Medicaid that are
just covered. And then if youdon't qualify for all four of those bills.
This is the thing that everybody knowssomething about pretty much. It's called
extra help or low Income Subsidy,so it's LAS or extra help. And

(46:01):
so with extra help you can allyou can be making fifteen hundred dollars or
less per month. It might beeven a little bit more, which is
what's coming up, and I'll havethose statistics on Monday. But with LIS,
I think we can get ninety fivepercent of the households in Memphis qualified.

(46:22):
But there is a certain application thatyou need to fill out to get
it and you know, get itgoing, and then your app app is
going to be electronically processed. That'swhat my agents do. So you have
to take the time to do whatmake the phone call four or five three
six three four six, make thecall just to see if you qualify.

(46:46):
Another thing, my team is goingto gonna sit with you and we're going
to assess where you are. We'regonna do a needs assessment. We're gonna
check doctors. You know, ifyou got ages knocking on your door coming
out of Atlanta, coming out ofI don't have anything a gift to help
it, y'all. We have enoughto go around here in Memphis, Tennessee.
Let us be your local resource. So when you get something called low

(47:08):
income subsidy, you're gonna get theletter back and within fourteen days they're gonna
tell you whether or not you haveit. They'll give you a right to
appeal it, and we can helpyou through the process. So bay have
just haven't call us. That numberis nine zero one four five three six

(47:29):
three four six, nine zero onefour five three six three four six.
That's the number to the Benefit SolutionsGroup right here in Memphis downtown. Laurie
Swannagun is the CEO there. Agentsare standing by good Information. If you
have that red, white and bluecard, stand by Laurie. We have

(47:52):

call Laurie while she's in the studionine zero one five three five nine three
four two nine zero one five threefive nine three four two you're listening to
w d I A. Don't goaway. The BEV Johnson still returns after

(48:23):
these messages b d I A.Hey, this is Melvin Gentry of Midnight
Star and I want to congratulate a. M ten seventy w d I A

white and Blue card. Laurie goingback to our phone lines to talk to
our listeners. W d I AHi caller, Hi, Yes, I
like to make an appointment with Laurie, and I want to put this out.
Yeah, you know I don't wantto. Okay, well, let

(49:55):
me let let me give you thenumber where you need to call. You
got something to write it down?Yes, nine zero, one, four
five three, yeah, sixty three, okay, four six, and call
that number and tell me you wantto make an appointment the Benefit Solutions Group.

(50:19):
Okay, all right, thank youfor listening. Bye, you welcome,
bye bye. W d I Alittle daddy. Who's up with Bill?
Job? I'm doing fine, littledaddy. How are you? I'm
good. I'm just staying in myline and staying out the way here.
But big goom Bill, I gota course for your partner. Okay,

(50:39):
I'll see your kind of upset becausesince fact is, I'm turning to sixty
I'm already sixty three, lord, and I need my money because the fact
nothing, little daddy, Little don'twant to leave my money up there up
with no badge. The gears bemy cheese, and I'm gonna be sixty

(51:01):
four and about. Okay, well, you're not gonna get my money.
That's not how can I can't getmy money with other poems getting their money?
And sixty two I put years upwith the schools. I want what
I want, that's my quarter.I want to it's you tell me why
I can't get my money? Allright, and I'm I'm gonna hang up.

(51:22):
And I have a good built.Thank you, little daddy. He
said he was at sixty three.First of all, social Security sixty two.
You need to go, little daddyto the Social Security office or call
them. Man. You would youlike me to give the number I can,
Yes, please, please, please, Lord, because little Daddy that
that you so sixty two, Yeah, you can get it. You can

(51:44):
get half social Security at sixty two. But you they that's not gonna come
out the sky. You have togo apply for it. You have to
apply. That's everybody has to apply. That's right. That's Lord. It's
not automatic that they you're a certainwe're gonna give you somebody. No,
no, no, it doesn't worklike that. That's right. So you

(52:06):
have to apply, and social Securityis gonna see if you were entitled to
get money, that's right. Isthat right? And your money is going
to be determined about with those quarters, how many you've worked, how much
your employer has contributed. We havesituations where the employer didn't contribute anything.

(52:27):
Right, person worked twenty years, but the employer did not contribute, so
they won't be getting anything. Andthat's that's unfortunate. But let me give
you this number. Uh, it'seight five five four two zero eight five
five seven. That's the number twothe Social Security Office on Austin, PE.
So get that number again, Lori. It's eight five five four two

(52:52):
zero eight five five seven. That'sSocial Security directly to them, all right,
directly to the Laurie, let's getto your emails we have and one
one listener wanted to know. Shesays, Laurie, is this information the
same for Mississippi. Yes, I'mso glad you said that, because I

(53:15):
have a note here to actually saythat, Yes, it absolutely is.
And you can go on medicare dotgov, going to that site medicare dot
gov and you can research it,the thresholds for medicaid, all of that
good information. There's also an agent. There's a number for a Mississippi I'll

(53:35):
get that in just a minute. You can call Mississippi Medicaid yeah, and
get that information as well. Butthe you know what I'm encouraging people to
do is don't try to do theresearch on your own. Call the number.
Call the four five three six threefour six. Yes, we're in
twenty states now, BEV. We'vegrown even more so Texas, Louisiana,

(53:57):
Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas. We've got just the host of states
that we're actually located in now.Texas is one of our big ones,
and New Orleans is building like wildfire. So I'm just excited about being able
to offer accurate information to twenty statesnow, so yes, we have information
about Mississippi. Actually I live inMississippi, so please call the number about

(54:22):
Mississippi. I was just on theline now with my office person at at
the Benefits Solutions Group, my OPSmanager, and she said, the phones
are not ringing like they need tobe ringing. I want to say this
to you. October the first iscoming up. We're going to be talking
about the plans, the changes. If you want to stop those harassing phone

(54:45):
calls, you need to make anappointment with the Benefits Solutions Group. You
need to call us. Listen, don't have people walking up to your front
door. I've already heard of that, whether it's you know, it can
be of any gender, any race, because listen, nobody's ice is colder
than the neck. Don't let peoplewalk up to your door uninvited and talk

(55:07):
to you about medicare. Don't doit. Call the Benefits Solutions Group.
I am over our seniors being scammed. Yea. And with this latest thing
that happened last week, it happenedso fast that it's it's scared me.
So we definitely need you all tocall the people that you can trust.

(55:29):
And so that you can get theinformation. Like I said, I'll be
back here on Monday, but nowyou need to start calling and making the
appointment because October schedule is gonna fillup fast. Okay from Priscilla, what's
up? Priscilla says LORI, ifit's if it's mandatory for a retired veteran
to obtain Part BE if they havea have v A health benefits, No

(55:53):
good question. So it's not mandatory. Not only is it not managed story
because the VA does take care ofyour benefits. But now I want you,
I want to say this by gettingyour Part B unless you are retired
and you're one hundred percent disabled andyou're retired, then that dental is impacted

(56:14):
as a as a VET. Soif you have Part B, you don't
have to have it now because thatis called credible coverage. Write this down,
credible coverage. If you are ona job, you have employer coverage
that equals the amount that Medicare wouldpay, which is the eighty percent.
And of course, guess what, you're a VET. You work for the

(56:35):
federal government, so of course yourplan is fine. You do not have
to have Part B. But ifyou want to skip the weight at the
VA because I heard there's a waitlist and get a second opinion, a
civilian opinion. You may be somewhere, you may not be able to get
to a VA hospital. And guesswhat's gonna kick in that Medicare advantage plan?

(56:59):
And we have VET plans specifically forveterans, So we definitely need all
of our vets to call in sothat we can get you that gift back.
There is a giftback with the VAplans, and we want to tell
you about him. It's pretty excitingto be a VET and have A and
B, So definitely call on in. Leonora wants to know Laurie. She

(57:21):
says, I missed my enrollment datebecause of misinformation, but someone said I
can still enroll without being penalized.I was sixty six in April of this
year. Thank you, Laurie.I'll be listening. Wow, that's excellent,
because Bell there is actually a specialelection for those who miss their enroman

(57:49):
dates because of misinformation. It's almostverbatim, so we can, Oh God
help, we can help you.I'm excited to be able to help you.
You definitely need to be calling nowso we can so are a call
now, we'll give that number outbecause she missed it, so you can
help. Yes, that's exciting.Yes, nine zero one is the number.
Four five three six three four sixfour five three six three four six,

(58:15):
Laurie, I'm going to our phonelines to get these callers. Who's
calling in? W D I AHI caller? Hello? Y yes?
Hi? How are you? Canyou hear me? I can hear you
loud and clear this David, midtownDavid? How you doing bed? Long
time? Don't talk to your seeingHey midtown David? Your question for Laura.

(58:39):
I just talked to them Friday andsigned up. Thank god I did
this. Uh, my benefits startNovember first, all right, I just
got my subsecurity started back. Igot penalized because I thought I was doing
something smart and end up being kindof life for about two years. Oh

(59:01):
wow. And so nine of I'mnine of. I'm back at work again,
beb you know I retired from thecity. Uh nine of, I'm
back at work again. I'm I'mabout to happens camp for dinner. To
call to listen to you all oni Huart radio this morning. All right,
to close my mind. My timingwas right on time. Yeah,
all right, thank you all forthe information that you all gave me last

(59:23):
week, last Friday, and hereyou are this morning on the radio.
That's right that my day. Thankyou, mad Town David, be safe
all right, beb you two nowbye bye five three five nine three four
two. Hi caller, you doing, I'm doing well in yourself. I'm

(59:46):
doing I'm trying by the great guy. I'm sitting there. Listen to this
another cave at vantage plan. Yougotta lorry that with you right right?
Yes, yes, and now Icalled once this four and uh, she's
right about that Linacre advantaged playing peopledon't have to have it. I try

(01:00:06):
to call her office a phone pickup, but I left my name and
number. I never did never didget an answer back. But they're trying
to do me like that right nowand take out their paw be a hundred
and like hunting sixty four for thatmel care saveings p running. Let me
let me I'm glad you said that. Let me let me say this real

(01:00:28):
quick. So it's not necessarily goingto be the four or five three number
that calls you back. I thinkit throws a few people off by saying
they didn't get a call because weactually retired every single call. So just
look out for any of the numbers. But if you call her now,
they they will call you back immediately. I just turned on about a prograce,

(01:00:50):
God, I just got through.I just die. Number. So
what number? I don't know whatto look up? Number? Okay,
it's it's four or five three sixtythree four six three sixty three. That's
the number four five three three foursix to last time that number. Here's
the number four five three sixty threefour six. That's the number. Car

(01:01:15):
I'm looking at it right now.But that's what I'm what I'm saying is
that's probably not the number that's goingto call you back. It's a different
number. And sometimes you all thinkthey're spams and you don't answer right.
Oh yeah, they get me upfor that, sinning them mess. And
I'm going with subsecurity right now aboutthat Medicare saving plans and I want to

(01:01:36):
take on a hundred and well theonion six to four and I don't even
qualify for the plans. Well callhim Cleveland, call that number today.
I don't got I don't got him. He got I got some my war
let him. I got him inthere. Thing. But so when I
do call that number, that numberthat were and like I said, I
did call that number note twice.I tried a couple of times, and

(01:01:59):
so I I love my name inyour dream, but I up. But
well when you when you hang upfrom us, call the number now and
say Laura told me to call now. Okay, thank you, thank you,
Bye bye. W D I aHI caller. Yeah, good morning,
Bill, her are you I'm doingfine, Juel, and you I'm

(01:02:22):
doing fine. I was calling toget something correct. We look, daddy,
in order to in order to drawthat money when you see t you
gotta work for these They don't justthey don't just give our money. You
gotta be a title to that money. That's right, That's right, that's

(01:02:45):
all right. Thank you, Juel, about You're welcome. W D I
a HI caller. Hey, Bill, Hey, Beverly. Hey, I'm
sorry to call back, but Ihave a question I want to ask lauras
intend to ask when I call earlyand it slip my mine. Do you
all assist people who they're not medicareeligible yet, but they are working on

(01:03:07):
a job that does not offer insuranceand they have to go through the marketplace.
Uh, my sister is in thatsituation and she has a pretty good
pream uh uh coverage, but youknow, it goes up every year,
and I guess that's everything goes up. But I was just wondering, do
you all assist people who have togo to the marketplace to get insurance uh

(01:03:30):
well before before opening rollment? Thatwas something that we did. When you
go to the health marketplace, there'sit's not any different than have had that's
going directly to them because it absolutelyis going to go up every year.
So that's yeah, we we do, but that's not our primary focus coming
up to uh AEP October. Thefirst is kind of all medicare Okay,

(01:03:54):
okay, all right, because Iknow that's a very busy time. Yes,
maga, okay, I'd like tohelp you out, Laurie if I
could with the little information I knowsounds good. We call the office and
tell miss Pat, tell miss Pat, yeah that you heard us on the
radio and you want to help out, and I'll get connected to you.
Okay, sounds good. Thank you, Thank you, Beverly, thank you,

(01:04:16):
Bye bye bye. W D.I a high caller, great show,
best job. I just want toask this flimin a question of dealing
with the Medicare situation. Yes,if you edwin, are you penalized if
you one hundred percent dealing with thatsituation. No, with the state,
no, vets are never penalized becausethey are the federal government. The federal

(01:04:40):
government is what subsidizes any VA benefits. It is the federal government. So
you're not going to be penalized asa VET. But I do recommend,
if you want a second opinion,if you want to skip the waiting list
for the VA hospitals of the doctors, then I would I would suggest you
do it. What if you're inTexas somewhere and something happens where you you're

(01:05:00):
not you're not near a VA hospitaland you have to go to a regular
hospital. You know, we gotthe thing called track Care where you can
go to in the hospital in thecountry if you want to. Well,
actually, actually everybody can in anemergency situation, but everybody's not Try Care.
I'm talking about VET, right, everyone is not Trycare. You got
VA champ and I know you knowthat, so everyone is not going to

(01:05:24):
be a retired VET. Yeah,I'm just saying, you know, I
was just saying, you know,I can go to in the hospitals.
I want to if I'm wanted thatcare try care. Yes, absolutely,
and there's a boy yeah for YouTube. But next question is this is the
last question, why is it thatthe state government offer these plans and you

(01:05:45):
don't use them? And then theway possible you can get in a certain
plans like, for instance, dentalplan, drin plan, which I'm a
bet I don't need basically need anyof that, but you but this money
is just sitting up. Is anyway possible I can get into some other
plan? Do the stake that Ican get this money with doubt that you

(01:06:09):
know, we happen to see itthen it or something? Yeah, yeah,
because those benefits are there for youto use them or not. The
biggest thing for the VET plan isthat there is a giftback, sir.
There's a giftback, and there's amonetary amount that you're gonna get back on
your Social Security check every month that'sgonna help you with that party premium.

(01:06:29):
And so there is a significant benefitfor a VET to get on one of
these plans. And we have someVET experts in our office, and I
definitely want you to you to callin and speak with one of them.
It's great information. So that's agiftback plan on y. Yes, it's
gonna save you a ton of money. And who do you talk to about
