Speaker 1 (00:00):
As we get ready for this big weekend involving Texas
Long Orne football and of course, uh the F one race.
You have an interest Cam Parker in the F one race.
Speaker 3 (00:13):
I do, I do.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
I went last year for the first time with a
lot of fun. Going again this year, bringing my friend
with me. He's a big F one fan, so looking
forward to it.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
You have a favorite driver for Stapping or Hamilton.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Usually Lewis Hamilton, you know, not in the title race
this year, so I guess I'm pulling for McLaren and Sonday.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
We'll see.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Did you see yesterday if you saw the tweet Holly
row ESPN sideline reports you we on the sideline Ofmorrow
night for the Texas Georgia game. They put her in
a behind the wheel of them a McLaren.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Oh really, I did not see that.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Yeah, she got a chance to do it. He was
pretty excited.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I saw Oscar Piastri, the other driver for McLaren. He
got a stadium tour yesterday.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yeah, okay, DK.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
There's a lot of people who are combining the two
or trying to combine the two. This weekend, Big Time
football game on Saturday night, Big Time F one Race
on Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
And I know this.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
I have never known a ticket to be more scarce
for a long run football game anywhere than this one.
I've never known one to be more scarce for any
game this one certainly not.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
So it's going to be interesting to see how this
all shakes down the football game. Our coverage begins at
three thirty tomorrow afternoon with Long Orange Game Day coming
your way from Bevo Boulevard. It's there in the winship
circle with the hook them to hangout with Ammon Parker
(02:00):
and Mike Hardball Harge and Mark Henry. That's at three
point thirty. Network pregame at five thirty. You know they're
they're opening Bevo Boulevard at eleven o'clock tomorrow morning for
a six thirty game. Wow, because College Dick Game Day
is starting at eight over on the South ballover.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
By the tower.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Oh yeah, and it will end at eleven.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
It'll end at eleven, and then Bevo Boulevard fires up
so folks can just you know, mosey on down the
hill and around the bend and.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
All that sort of stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
And they they want to still party.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
You know, it got all day to get to get
ready for that matchup. I wanted to get to a
couple of NFL notes. One of those involves the team
that that you like to cheer for or not.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Let me just amend that.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
See, you're a conflicted person, not conflicted at all.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Now you're conflicted. It's your favorite team. You're just mad
at them right now, it's still your favorite NFL team,
right right? Where have you bailed on the Cowboys and
picked another team?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
No?
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I haven't.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I'll never pick another team.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Okay, never pick another team?
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Okay, because if you did, I would just toss all
this out and never bring it up again.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Probably. No, I can't do that.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
You got you gotta stick to you.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
That's right. So, uh, but I think you kind of
revel in.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Uh, them wallowing in their mediocrity right now. You're kind
of enjoying this since you're not watching it, And so
I get that. I I understand how, you know, how
a lot of that goes. Uh, But there was there
was quite the uh, the hubbub about Jerry Jones and
(03:55):
him getting all you know, bunged up and and and
everything at his radio show hosts his weekly appearance on
that and talking about whatever, get somebody else you can get.
The people have kind of launched into him on that,
(04:16):
but there was other things that came out. For example,
that conversation happened on one O five three the Fan
in Dallas Fort Worth. Also in Dallas Fort Worth is
The Ticket, which is really the gold standard for sports
talk radio there. They just won the Marconi Award for
(04:37):
best Overall Radio station in the entire United States regardless
of format, in addition to all their sports talk awards
they've won. They have Troy Aikman on every week and
on with the Musers, my friends George dunhaman Craig Miller
who I went to college with, and they have Troy
Aikman on every week.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
And Troy pulls no punches. He's not bashful, Nope.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
So he was talking about there were a lot of
problems with the Cowboys obviously, and folks have you know
gone after Dak Prescott or the defense and all this.
Troy doesn't say that that stuff isn't true, but he
(05:27):
will also tell you, and did so on Wednesday, that
the problem isn't just Dak.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
It's not just a defense even after the wide receivers.
The quote was.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
I think the routes are terrible. Talking about the routes
they run. I think they run terrible routes, and I've
fought that beyond this year. I think Ceedee Lamb has
got to improve in his route running.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
As a quarterback, if.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
You're not certain where guys are going to be consistently,
it's hard to play the position. That's what I see.
I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage.
Sometimes they run. Usually if they do, it's because they're
anticipating and they're going to get the football on that play.
But if they're not, they don't, and it all ties together.
I'm not impressed with that part of it. I just
finished watching the Baltimore Ravens because I have them this week.
(06:15):
You put on film of Theirs and watch their receivers
run routes and they come off the football so to
San Francisco's and Green Bays and others. But it's hard
to play the quarterback position if you're not certain how
guys are going to run routes where they're going to be.
And I'm not speaking for Dak. Dak may say, hey,
I think their routes are amazing, But as a former
quarterback watching it, it's got to get a lot better.
(06:37):
So yeah, I mean's he's pulling no punches. As you
mentioned the Cowboys zero and three at home, they've been
outscored in home games one nineteen to fifty three. And
if you include the playoff loss to the Packers back
in January, they've allowed at least forty four points to
three of our last.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Four home games.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
That's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
I'm bizarre. See that's what I said about there such
a bad.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, well, you know that's what I said. You were
kind of reveling in their misery a little bit here.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
I mean, there's a fire in the kitchen, but there's
also a fire in the attic, in the upstairs bathroom,
in the backyard. This fire is all over the place
with this team right now. Yeah, And I mean to
Aikman's point, it's a receiver group that's not great. I mean,
you have CD Lamb, and I don't think his route
running was ever considered a big strength of his. And
(07:28):
then after him, you have Jaalen Tolbert, the former South
Alabama receiver who stepped up this season. But I don't
know how many other teams would he would he start
for Probably not that many in the league. But after them, Craig,
I mean, your third leading receiver is Jake Ferguson, and
then it's Rico Dwell and Brandon Cooks has not been
healthy and he's a much older receiver, so it's not
(07:50):
a good receiver unit. Don't even get me started on
the running backs. And then it's just I don't know
if it's complete denial or stubbornness from Jerry when he's
asked about up raiding the team and he's refusing to
do so, when he's like, we don't need to, Like,
what are you talking about? It's it's got to be
one of the worst skill position what Tim rephrase is
(08:11):
a little bit better. Yeah, there's not many teams that
have worse skill position players than what the Dallas Cowboys
we're putting out there.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Now.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
You might say, hey, wait a second, they have Cede Lamb.
He's one of he's now one of the highest paid
receivers in the league. Yeah, it's him. But if you're
an opposing defense posing team, you're defending the Cowboys, you're
looking at this this team, go Okay, all we have
to really worry about is just shutting down, ceede lamb
and that's it. And if you know to what Aikman's saying,
I have not watched the Cowboys live, so I can't
tell you what their route running is like and if
(08:41):
they're trying or not in every play. But it would
not surprise me if that's if Aikman is just completely
spot on because it is his job.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, yeah, he knows it, knows it pretty well. Could
be worse if you were a quarterback, you could be
Jay Cutler, the former Bears quarterback arrested in Tennessee last
night after a traffic crash and facing four charges. Charges
were driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while
under the influence, failure to exercise care, due care to
(09:12):
avoid a collision, and implied consent. According to a release
from the Franklin Police Department, which is outside of Nashville,
officers responded to a minor traffic collision in downtown Franklin
around five o'clock yesterday afternoon. The investigation suggested that Cutler
rear ended another vehicle. During their conversation with Cutler, officers
noticed a strong odor of alcohol. He was also slurring
(09:35):
his words, had bloodshot eyes, Cutler refused field sobriety tests
taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was
obtained through a blood search warrants. He also reported, according
to a police search, had two firearms in his possession,
including a loaded pistol. Nice booked in the Williamson County jail,
not Williamson County, Texas, Williamson County, Tennessee before some o'clock.
(10:00):
Five thousand dollars bond was released at ten o'clock. So yeah,
re memories two thousand and six, first round draft pick
of the Broncos traded to the Bears, became the franchises
all time passing leader. Yet things going well, the whole
hot wife thing, what was it?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
What was it? At Christian Cavalary?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Yeah really yeah yeah, and then that that thing cratered
and then I played his last season with the Dolphins
in twenty seventeen. Yeah, tough, tough go for Jay Cutler.
All right, up, next, we'll have there's another NFL story
speaking of former quarterbacks turned analyst. This has a little
(10:47):
more intrigue and interest because it involves the question, let
me just put it that way, the question of propriety.
We'll also hear from log Worn's head coach Steve Sarkeesian
talked about some of the key things going into this
matchup with Georgia here on a Friday edition of The
Craigway Show, Here on sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone,
(11:09):
and where you always listen to us for free on
the iHeartRadio app.
